Sokka’s eyes are blue. You can see that when he’s looking off to the side. The second he turns to look at Zuko, his eyes look dark (I had to do a double take bc that frame made me think they illustrated Sokka’s eyes as brown in this shot but no).

Pupils dialate when you’re looking at someone you like, someone you’re into.

I get so angry hearing and reading about what's happening in Palestine right now. I don't even know what to do and it all feels hopeless 😔

The situation around Sheikh Jarrah should make everyone angry. For those of you who might not know what’ going on here’s a brief breakdown:

Indigenous Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah, for a very long time, have been fighting lengthy legal battles in Israeli courts against eviction orders which aim to replace these indigenous people with illegal Israeli settlers. 

On May 7th, the illegal Israeli settlers along with courts (an apparatus of Israel’s apartheid regime) have started a campaign to illegally take over the home’s of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah. These families were given until today (May 10th, 2021) to “reach an agreement” with the occupiers. This obviously prompted protests. The IDF has also brutally responded to these protests. Now the world is watching and global protests have started happening.

Some important things to note:

-Sheikh Jarrah belongs to the Palestinian families. It is part of the occupied Palestinian territory, and therefore any Israeli settler presence in it amounts to a war crime under international law. 

-There has been a mountain of UN Security Council resolutions demanding that Israel withdraw from East Jerusalem which Israel continues to ignore.

-This is ethnic cleansing

I know you feel hopeless but here’s what we can do:

-Support BDS (Boycott, Divestments, Sanctions) movements (What”s BDS?) Boycott Israeli products from their colonial settlements

-Understand whats happening in Palestine and the crimes of apartheid/persecution being committed by Israel. (Check out this great report by HRW on the situation) After getting an understanding. SPREAD AWARENESS. Especially in the US. This is key to combatting Evangelical propaganda and Israeli lobbyists. Do this through social media.

-Contact your local reps and pressure them to stop giving Israel military funding or any form of financial support. Fight against zionist lobbyists such as AIPAC or Christians United for Israel.

-Donate if you can. Here’s a few links. If you can add more (reputable) donation links to this, I ask that you please do.

Also I feel like the white ppl writing shit like that are the same people that would claim racism irl if any BIPOC were nervous or hesitant around them bc of any traumatic experiences they’ve had with white ppl. It’s not racism, y’all, we cannot experience that shit as white ppl.

This isn’t exactly the same but I get super nervous around cis men I don’t know too well, and if I’m alone in a room with a cis guy I’m not close with, I will have an anxiety attack. That’s not the fault of the cis guy I’m around, I’ve just had enough traumatic experiences with cis men that being around them can make me nervous.

Same thing if BIPOC are nervous or avoidant of white ppl. Same thing if they have any boundaries in their life when it comes to letting white ppl in their life. They’re so valid. It’s okay to have negative feelings towards a group of people who have oppressed and traumatized you and to set boundaries based on that. Being on the receiving end of those boundaries or hesitance is *not* experiencing racism/sexism/etc.

Fictional characters aren’t an exception towards this.

From the drabble request list!! This one's angst #14 bc I'm vibing with Sokka in this chili's tonight. Inspired by this post that broke my fucking heart bc Sokka deserves to know how absolutely amazing and wonderful he is.

"I'm not good enough."

Zuko wracked his brain for what Sokka possibly could've meant by that statement. Sokka was amazing. He was beyond amazing. Possibly the smartest person Zuko had ever met, and the funniest, and the most charming, and unequivocally handsome, and--

He was getting sidetracked. Something was wrong and he was going to help.

"What do you mean you're not good enough," Zuko asked, gently brushing his hand over his boyfriend's cheek, "not good enough for what?"

"You," Sokka answered, voice eking out in a broken whisper, "Your love."

Zuko felt his heart shatter upon hearing those words. He understood the feeling, not believing you're worthy of love, but he hoped Sokka would never feel the same. At any point in his life.

"Sokka-" Zuko started.

"It's okay," Sokka interrupted, shaking his head, "You don't have to say anything. It's not like you can fix it or anything."

Yeah, Zuko couldn't let that stand. He moved over to where Sokka was lying down, straddled him, and took his face in his hands.

"No." Zuko said. Sokka just looked up at him in confusion and surprise. "You're wrong," Zuko continued. "I know I can't fix this for you. If I could, I would, I would just come up with one of your brilliant little plans and everything would work out and it would be fine. But I can't. So I'm gonna tell you this instead."

Sokka stared at him, eyes starting to gloss over, his expression looking more and more fragile as Zuko went on.

"You are one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my entire life. You're brilliant, and you care about he people you love so fucking much, and you have a worse sense of humor than my uncle but I never want you to stop telling all the horrible puns you could possibly think of." He sighed, pausing for a moment. " I know I'm not that great with words, or comforting people, or telling them how I feel, but I am going to tell you this: Sokka, I don't think you understand how much your love means to people. You love people so much and so well. You never think twice about showing up for the people you love, and you're always there when someone needs you to be."

The tears welling up in Sokka's eyes were dangerously close to spilling over the edge. He was overwhelmed by the pure love and affection of everything Zuko was telling him, if he said one more thing, Sokka's pretty sure he'd turn into a fucking waterworks show.

"How on earth are you not worthy of love when that's what you give to other people?" Zuko asked, his voice softer than ever.

Yup. That did it. That broke the dam. All the tears had now burst out of Sokka's eyes and were flooding down his face like a fucking waterfall. Spirits, he wish he weren't crying so much. If he could just keep it together for two seconds-

"Hey, hey," he could hear Zuko softly saying, as he wiped away the tears and pressed a kiss to the pace where each one had been. "I'm here Sokka. Let me take care of you, for once," he added, chuckling a bit at the end.

Sokka smiled, nodding. "I love you," he sighed out.

"I love you too, Sokka. More than you'll ever know."
