There’s a video saying pretty much the big flaw with the strange case is that jekyll isn’t held accountable, or that he doesn’t have character growth. And like did you miss the whole points of the book

It’s a 25k word gothic lit novella

Jekyll is not suppose to have character growth in the story, his ending is that his actions catch up to him and he kill’s himself. Something he thought he could get away with comes crashing down of him, and he is facing the consequence of his actions

it’s not suppose to be a story with a happy ending where Jekyll gets better, instead you are revealed that Jekyll is hyde

which like most people know going into the book, but when the first book was published, people didn’t know that. And it was considered horrifying to realize the truth that the character you were helping this whole time was actually Hyde.

A character not having growth dosent make it automatically a flaw, and character growth for Jekyll generally wouldn’t work in the original story context. It would change far too much, and changes the whole vibe and original story for the book.
