I miss the sound that you held
In the depths of your chest
The quiet breathing
in the calm of the night
When the light of the stars
Fell gently across you
And the moon dipped down to kiss
The twinkling lips of Venus
I miss the swish of your arms
pine branches reaching
To encircle me in comfort
A shadowed embrace
And I miss your soft sighs
Your closed eyed smiles
As you drifted off to sleep
And you dragged me into your peace
I miss the sound of you

All the things I need to do
Weighing in the back of my mind
But instead, I'll lay here quietly
Watching the clouds roll over the hills
And let the world
Take a turn without me

Dear Younger Self
Chasing you down again
Twenty years of trying to forget you
We've had our share of past
And I don't blame you for being too young
But I wish I could relieve some of those scenes
I'll take this moment to hold
A moment of silence
For all the things you lost
Your sense of endless optimism
And your bright-eyed innocence
You came out stronger in the end
And I wouldn't change a thing
But girl, I'm sorry that I didn't find me
Until I finally lost you

They're all the bold faced liars
selling us slop for the price of our souls.
"If you just keep scrolling
You might not feel the tape over your mouth.
You might not feel us bind your wrists."
"Just spend your life savings
on our passive income scheme."
"This won't hurt, you'll only feel a pinch."
We watch our differences become
the driving force dividing us.
We watch pieces of our human race
labeled and declared a sub class.
There's always an excuse to kill the weak.
I hate this world, but what can I do?
We feel the helplessness of the last three generations,
hanging around our necks like a gold chain.
This is the privilege of a first world view,
we see every single blast
but don't have to smell the smoke and death.
We can't give up on trying to stand.
How did these people get put in charge anyway?
And are you ready to fight your way out?
Do you think we've got a chance?

They talk in units of measurement,
numbers and statistics,
risk, and assessments
of acceptable loss.
But I saw her frail hands
attempting to hold her children
at what we all knew was the end.
I saw his bloodshot eyes
close for the last time
as he gave up his fight.
I saw the last breath exit
from a body too young
to have no more breaths left.
I saw entire lives in the expanse of an ending,
and I can tell you...
We have no metric big enough
to write them off.

Caught in a fight
I wish I could say I'm sorry
But the moment never feels right
So I stick to my guns
And die on my hill
I'm such a good winner at losing

Prismatic
So many aspects
Unknown
To the outsiders
You present the side of you
That matches their expectations
You play the game
Of hide and seek
But you're too good at hiding
And they gave up seeking years ago
Prismatic
They don't understand
The half of you
And it's too exhausting
To teach them how to see
So you let it go
Put on your best face
And go on with your show

Spring showers bring surprises
Caught in the same space
Hearts beating at the feeling
Of newness on lips
Rain on leaves cascading
They send feelings down your spine
And light fires in your eyes
You feel awakening
Bloom of emotions at their smile
You're turning with the season
Opening to possibilities

Upon the rubble
The unmarked grave
Of the unknown
Their lives and deaths
Seemingly so meaningless
That they barely made a sound
Caught up in survival
Unable to rise
Restrained from life
A cut-off cry
Beneath the rubble.

Today I came out of my shell. I followed blogs that were different from what I usually follow. I played games with people who are not in my tight little circle. I felt open, and playful and silly, and didn't feel awkward about it. Sometimes I mask so much that I forget what it's like to just be me. As someone who spent their whole life (I still do, all the time) trying to only present an acceptable version of myself, today was very freeing. And it's not always that the people around me demand that I'm neurotypical, though at times they absolutely do, but sometimes it's just so exhausting to have to explain myself to an entire world that doesn't understand, that sometimes I just pull myself into a tiny box and exist there. So, thank you to all the people who played a fun little game today. Thank you for letting me unfurl and feel safe. Tumblr is a beautiful place because of all the vibrant, prismatic people in this community. To all of you, I wish you love and happiness.
Also,
BOOP!

Also, today, I'm just like, following everyone back, no matter what kind of blog content.
I usually am completely OCD about only having writing blogs on my dash. I feel like this is going to be good for me....
