i’m not going to sit here and speculate on katya’s gender, because i don’t know her! but i can provide a few links to things that she’s said in the past about herself and how she identifies. based on what she’s said, it’s best to use the pronouns and ‘labels’ she’s always used for herself in public and with fans, which have usually been she/her, and they also tends to be a safe bet. she calls herself a woman a lot and below are some links that can provide some insight into why i personally don’t think we should call her a man:

in this periscope she discusses being transgender and how she identifies (and uses the phrase ‘a girl like me’ when discussing a transgender woman) 

in this interview she talks about gender and how she doesn’t feel that she lines up with any particular gender when she’s out of drag (her portion begins around 1:03:00)

this excerpt from an interview here (i can’t for the life of me find where this is from, if i do i’ll update with a better source)

ginger made this post on instagram a while ago. it specifically talks about how fans shouldn’t use drag queens’ real names unless given explicit permission because it’s invasive. in the comments she talks a little about pronouns and basically just says to stick with she/her for any queen you meet as a fan until you absolutely know otherwise. 

also, in her live instagram video from last night (24/08/2017), she said “i’m not a man i’m a woman” (around 4 minutes in)

there are definitely other things i’ve come across but these are what i could find quickly. i’m not an authority on katya and i don’t claim to be; none of us are unless we know her personally. but the most respectful way to treat her is to use the pronouns and names for herself that she uses in public! basically, it’s not our place to debate how she identifies, because it’s none of our business, so just follow her lead in how she presents herself to us.
