I'm a bit late, but it's here!! I was originally going to draw a full on Penage art since I know how much you love them, but I was struck by the intense desire to draw Penny in a pretty spring dress and couldn't resist. Still managed to get a tiny Kage in though! :D

(Sorry for the bottom of the dress being a bit messy. I had some serious trouble with sketching the pose. 😅)

I just HAD to this redraw that meme that was going around, and I was gonna do it with Shadow and Rouge but then the oc blorbos hit SO PENNY AND KAGE GET A TURN BECAUSE ITS PERFECT FOR THEM 🧡💜

(Story wise this would be several years after a Penny leaves with her mother and is being used to model her mother’s collection rather than her own, because to her mother, that’s all Penny is. A pretty doll to dress up and do with as she pleases.

Kage isn’t struck by the fashion this time… so why is heart aching from beauty now? He really wonders how she is. That sad, stuck up girl from school, who he helped rescue and then gave him that scarf so long ago…)

"You always came back to me and…" he closed his eyes feeling tears fall down his face now. "You inspired me to live Rouge, and I-" he stopped his voice cracking with emotion. “I will never be able to repay you for that.”

"I just wanted you to be happy," Rouge admitted, barely above a whisper, leaning her head against his hand. Shadow looked at her, almost in disbelief. "You just wanted-" he trailed off and touched his forehead to hers. Rouge felt more tears but she couldn't help but smile at him.

“I thought,” she began. “ I thought that if you of all people in the world could find happiness again… then–” she paused, wiping away some more tears. “Then maybe I could too…”

Shadow embraced her letting a few more tears fall against her shoulder.

“You have always been that happiness Rouge.” He confessed hugging her tighter against him.

“I'm the one that doesn't deserve you.” he softly admitted, smiling contentedly against her. Rouge felt another lump in her throat. She just couldn't stop crying in the moment. But she really didn't care anymore. She gently pulled away from him looking at him adoringly, while caressing his cheek.

“We're a mess aren't we?”

Shadow softly laughed in her hands.

“Maybe a little.”
