Final Listener Appreciation Post & Wrap-Up!

Hello, faithful listeners! This is our final year, and it’s time for our final tradition. At the end of each month, we’ve been honoring someone special who has supported this blog along the way. And this is the last award we’ll be giving out. Who is the lucky person this month? Find out after the break!

Yes, you. All of you who have been faithfully listening to all the music we’ve shared, hitting that Like button, and/or reblogging our stuff. Those who have hit the Follow button and those who are just stocking our blog. We deeply appreciate all of you. 

Honestly, this blog wouldn’t have lasted all these years if it weren’t for you, the people who enjoyed what we’ve been doing. Never would have anyone imagined that this humble blog would gain well over 2000 followers. Hopefully, through our exposure, you’ve done your part and financially supported the musicians that needed it. But more then that, we hope we’ve left you with years worth of wonderful musical memories. And like I’ve been saying from the start, thank you for being a faithful listener.

----------OUR PARTING WORDS----------

Looking back on it all, we’ve made many memories along the way. Games we’ve played, songs we’ve shared, experiences learned, previous admins who have come and gone... What a wild adventure! Though most of this was a positive experience, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t any regrets.

For the most part, I regret never setting up any live gaming streams, games with merch or cash prizes, and other interactive festivities. There were remixes being released this year alone that we just didn’t have the time or opportunity to share. That’s not anyone’s fault but my own for not being able to provide while I had the chance. But all this, and so much more, will not go to waste so long as this blog remains.

I’ll be doing my best behind the scenes; occasionally coming in to fix the tags and subpages so that everything is uniform and easier to find. After today, our doors are officially closed, but that doesn’t mean it has to be the end of your Sonic remix experience! Through everything we’ve shared, the Albums megalist, and the Affiliates we’ve linked to; hopefully we’ve shared enough that you all have the tools to look up remixes yourselves. Just keep your eyes and ears open, and you’ll find music in many places!

----------THE FUTURE OF THIS BLOG----------

No, this blog will NOT be deleted. That was never going to be considered. We are done sharing remixes for the foreseeable future, but we’ll still keep this blog up as an archive of fan remixes, and hopefully as a guiding tool to show people where even more remixes can be found. Likewise, we welcome other people to start their own Sonic remix blog. Even if we’re not sharing content anymore, we’ll gladly promote your blog too and make you one of our affiliates!

In previous years, there’s been threats to internet privacy, digital freedom, and market changes. I didn’t really want to bring any of this up, but in the later half of 2019, COPPA threatens to impose some major changes on YouTube that could take down a wide amount of content. A large number of the remixes we’ve shared comes from YouTube. For the most part, I think we’ll all be safe, and a number of songs are backed up via our own download links. However, if the worst happens, we may end up losing some content. Let’s pray for the best and expect the worst on that.

But there is one important statement we cannot emphasize enough: This is NOT goodbye. This is simply “See you later.” ...At least, that’s our intent. Maybe in a few years, when my life has settled down and I’m in a better place, I’d like to return to this blog and continue sharing music. However, with rule and policy changes to Tumblr, as well as legal ownership rights being bought and sold, Tumblr’s future is up in the air. It might not exist forever, and if the worst happens, then there’s no other place where we can keep sharing content like this. But as long Tumblr still exists, as long as this blog is up and running, then we will resume operations and re-open our doors some day.

Most likely, I’ll personally come back when the time is right. If Ebby, the original creator of this blog, should ever come back to Tumblr, this blog is hers if she wants it again. And if anyone else out there is interested in becoming the new admin of this blog, I’m always open to that possibility! Just contact me as best as you can, and we’ll talk. Until then, this blog will just be an inactive archive.

----------OUR FINAL CLOSING THOUGHTS----------

I simply cannot express enough gratitude to all the followers, supporters, and listeners for keeping the beats pumpin’ like I always ask. This blog doesn’t belong to any one person, it rightfully belongs to the community. The previous admins and I are just the facilitators that keep it going. Our only mission was to expose the world to this huge, ever-growing collection of Sonic remixes (official and fan-made), and I believe we helped accomplish that goal with a dash of fun along the way.

Good music has no age, and if you’ve enjoyed any of the music that we’ve shared, then we hope it always has a place on your playlist. As I write this, I struggle to make sure I haven’t left anything unsaid. Yes, I know. This post is all ready getting long enough, and I really should be on my way now. But I know we’ll all meet again some day, on the planet as cool and blue as Sonic himself...
