also changes to the aphrodite cabin!

plus special featurings of katie & connor dynamics, piper getting into a mini spat with connor, a kayla knowles cameo, and of course rachel getting possessed

i don't know man. but sometimes i think about percy breaking the news to nico that his sister's dead. and nico plummetting into depression, screaming at the boy he once thought of as a hero to die. and percy watching this ten-year-old disappear into the shadows mid sobbing. and percy's shaking and traumatized and exhausted. but he forces that pain down his throat and accepts the role as the prophecy kid so nico has a chance to create a future he wants. while percy's is set in stone. and i don't know man.

On the subject of big three kids and Thalia in particular, another thing I noted is that part in The Sword of Hades short story when the trio meets Sisyphus, and Thalia has to push his boulder for him so Percy and Nico can get a chance to talk to him and when they’re finished the boulder of course slips back down but Thalia says something along the lines of ‘I think I almost had it’ and I think it was implied she wanted to try again but then they have to get going. I don’t have a particular concise point to this but I guess I just thought it was interesting that she would fall prey to that, despite knowing that it’s one of the most popular punishments in mythology and the boulder is not meant to be beaten. Maybe that combined with the occasional power hunger from her- she’s more susceptible to the classic flaws in myths? Idk (but also I love Thalia and the rest of the big three kids)

!!!!! oooh anon I really like this view, because her saying "I think I almost had it" is very much a sinister implication in the narrative -- You could interpret this solely as her being spelled under the compulsion aspect of the punishment. But I love this notion that this punishment could be especially suited to her, almost like a loose metaphor for her constant thirst for power and total control, along side her self-refusal to actually take it once she's standing at the edge of the precipice of something great...

personally i think jason should deck chiron for letting a camp of kids punch leo/for kicking leo himself bc what the fuck, what the ABSOLUTE fuck was that about, why was it necessary, isn’t he fucking supposed to be in charge of looking after those children and mediating instead of joining in the abuse. n at the same time i think leo should yell at coach hedge n mellie for as long as possible bc they were left in charge of 2 kids and chose to completely ignore and deride one and side with the other over a……………….teenage break up that wasnt even……….anyone’s fault? when clearly both of em needed help

I...personally have never considered them tbvh, so I guess I'm neutral??? on them?? as a pairing?? bc like I'm open-minded abt ships so if I discover a new one, chances are it'll automatically be put in the 'neutral' category until I get the sudden inspo to hyper fixate on them lmaoo

so rn idk much abt them, but they seem like an interesting duo, I feel like they'd balance one another well ngl; nico's urge to keep moving and bounce around, alabaster being on the run and in exile, there's a lot of potential on the surface for them that can be explored!

Have you read Son of Magic/ have any thoughts about Alabaster Torrington?

I have not read son of magic so I don't really have much to say about that. however, I do know about alabaster torrington due to reading fics involving him and then, out of curiosity, checking his profile on the riordanverse wiki. (keep in mind these are just my thoughts of him with no knowledge of what went down in son of magic 😭)

I think he's a really interesting character! a child of hecate is cool enough, but the whole story of him and lamia was interesting too! I liked how he wasn't one of those demigods who switched to the good side right away when the olympians won, like he wanted to fight more, he egged his mother on to keep fighting, and he dislikes percy and still hates the olympians. he's like a very morally gray kinda guy, imo?? based on what I know of son of magic and his personality. he has skewed morals and while his perception of what he believes is right has a far different meaning in most of the godly world, he is heroic in his own way. ngl characters like him fascinate me bc they've so much potential to be analyzed, which is prob why I tend to include him in my fics here and there despite not having read son of magic lmaoo

hey y'all remember this? and this? (aka the 'tratie instead of percabeth' HoO fix-it au I had thought up and posted abt?)

well I actually went and wrote the au! took me more than a year to plan at least a decent amount out (enough to actually publish the fic confidently), but here we are! mind you, tratie isn't the only major change from canon in this fic, this au is an excuse for me to try to rectify some big points of dissent in the canon HoO series, and I hope I will do it justice.
