How to fall down the fanfic rabbit hole

(1) Find an awesome story 

(2) Read it straight through

(3) Proceed to read everything else by that author

(4) Go through that author’s bookmarks and read all stories that sound interesting to you

(5) Repeat steps 1-4 until...

(6) Find a story to read in an author’s bookmarks section from an old fandom you used to be into

(7) Decide to read it because it sounds interesting and you liked their other stuff

(8) Old story reawakens your enjoyment of old fandom

(9) Proceed to re-read favorite stories from that fandom 

(10) Remember a specific story from that fandom but be unable to find it

(11) Spend hours (or days) trying to find story

(12) Finally find it and devour it

(13) Read all that author’s other stuff, including new stuff they’ve written since you lost interest in that fandom

(14) Go through that author’s bookmarks...

(15) Repeat steps infinitely

Is anyone else having problems with AO3? It happened yesterday too but it was over in like idk 30-40 mins so I could continue reading, I thought it was just a once in a couple months kind of glitch in the system, but I clicked on a fanfic again as I wanted to continue reading and this came up again. Does anyone know what's going on?

So @matrixbearer2024 story made me think back on the game called Mystic Messanger and was like "that but with the Hazbin characters."

Like, imagine this mysterious group chat opened with many sinners and demons and even angels just all together there and this one human that, for some reason, found their device with this new messaging app that they could not recognize.

They were lost and had no idea what was happening and who there people are but hey, their shocked reactions were pretty entertaining.

Of course, Alastor would be missing from this story's concept because... he would need a cellphone for that.

Anyway, so inside my head it would be with Lucifer (of course, my fave must be in there), Vox (because why not), Adam, Lute, and whoever else you'd want in this mess.

And like in the dating sim game, the characters would grow fond of the human over time.

But they're only allowed to talk through messages and maybe calls. They can also send pictures and audios through the app.

Video calls are not an option tho.

And since Mystic Messanger allows you to have private conversations, I would think that there is were they really bound with the human. Sharing private talks, maybe venting, knowing each other more. Just the human being there for them.

But it is an impossible crush they would have for the human since they are from different worlds.

Let's not dwell onto that since that wasn't my main focus of this story.

I wanted something more light hearted and cracked.

Imagine Vox and Lucifer bonding over their hatred for Alastor. Imagine Lucifer and Adam beefing on the main chat. Imagine Lute being her aggressive self, making the other characters be like "woah, chill."

Just a chaotic group chat with YOU, the human, as the whole spectator of this crazy group.

Ao3 being down is making be realize how genuinely addicted I am to reading on that site.

Not to compare this to substance addictions and stuff, but I can’t stop thinking about if/when the site will be up again or how much I want to be reading. I literally have so many books I could read but they don’t have the same kick that’s fics do in the beginning.

It just puts things into perspective I guess. Idk I’m running to Ao3 the second it’s all ok again, but I guess a little break shouldn’t be the end of the world for now…

Time (To Protect You) Typeset

I recently fell into a rabbit hole of reading batfamily fics (I’m obsessing hard over all things DC right now, just ask my ao3 bookmarks) and this one, Time (To Protect You) by Blueseabird2 has got to be one of my favourites so far and I fully plan on it being one of my first binds when I finally get the tools to do so. Like the found family, hurt/comfort, angst, its just got all the good stuff packed into one fic.

The files can be found in this google drive folder, there is a word document and a pdf version of the typeset. Both are 5.5″ by 8.5″ because that is the paper size I plan to use for binding them, but let me know if you want other sizes and I will do that for you! The typeset is 336 pages, which is a perfect multiple of 24.

And when that scene came, that scene that might have been the death of the man, the other was there too. And the other smote the beast, like in that other story. See? It all comes around. But the man yet lives, and the other yet stays, and… Well, I suppose we’ll see what will become of them.
