I think mostly I wish I was standing at the edge of the sea and screaming. just screaming. very loud and very long. I suppose the tip of a mountain would be good too but I don’t know where I’d find one of those.

(Flipped/No text version + Long-ass Flower Symbolism explanation below
Tumblr media
NOW FLOWERS
Jester Hermie- I wanted his bouquet to be representative of the feelings Hermie showed. Not necessarily fake feelings, but the way he coped with the hell that is his life. More pointed towards Family/The world
Orange Lily(Hatred)- Hermie hates his parents and his life Cardamine(Parental love/Parental error)- Self explanatory I think Snapdragon(Deceit/Gracefulness)- Feels self-explanatory but Hermie's big thing is lying to everyone and himself so hard that he doesn't know who he is
Acacia(Secret Love)- This one is probably intended to mean romantic love, but for this I think it better represents Hermie's General love towards the party and the world
Yellow Carnation(Rejected Love)- THIS one I am using the romantic connotations for. Oakworthy blah blah you get it (/affectionate)
Fools Parsley- Doesn't have "flower symbolism" but Fools Parsley is a plant that imitates parsley while being pretty poisonous with a whole heap of bad effects if ingested. idk I needed to fill out more space.
Glasses Hermie- Hermie's secret/"realer" feelings. maybe kinder is a better word? I don't think his other emotions aren't real. More pointed towards the PCs. Most of these ones are more self-explanatory
Hyacinth(Giving/seeking Forgiveness. Regret)- Hyacinths have live a billion different meanings, but we're going with this one. I don't have a competent explanation for this one. I think maybe this is more the party's feelings than hermie's
Honesty(sincerity)- I am copium-ing that hermie's last words are for real and I hope we never get confirmation on whether or not he was lying
Ambrosia(love returned)- Piggy-backing off that, surprise! The yellow carnations were a Lie! crazy
Pink Carnation(blooming love)- Doesn't reaallyy work cause Hermie dies before love could bloom but I thought having carnations in both bouquets would be cool
White Tulip("I'm Sorry". Worthiness)- 🥺 . Tulips are a pretty typical funeral flower but I saw the definition worthiness and had Emotions so. here.

Okay I have something of a long post/ask/critical analysis of Symphony AU that I want to address. you're free to ignore it if I'm just spouting off insane copium. Or whatever you want to do with it lol. This is more about the turtles that about the Violist.
First I'm gonna talk about Donnie because he's arguably the easiest one to talk about. And take less time. He spent at the very least 15 years of his life knowing exactly five people, three brothers, his dad, and a bestie/pseudo big sister. They're all people who completely understand/grew up with him. And he's used to people adapting to his needs without having to say anything because he's, well, they're brother/son. Speaking from a purely canon standpoint in Rise you can see it, Raph refuses to tell Donnie they hate his gifts because it'll crush him. Stuff like that. Leo calling him a "weirdo" doesn't really mean much of anything considering he's Donnie's brother, and this is about pineapple on pizza.
This is all to say I see how Donnie just didn't bother communicating this was all for his touch experiment. As far as he's basically aware, she already knew. He wasn't going to read between the lines because he'd grown accustomed to the way his brothers, April, and dads act. Which, in hindsight, bit him in the ass because the violist literally doesn't know him aside from "purple turtle science man".
So. I get him. I get where he's coming from even if it ended up kinda fucking up the violist. That's all part of the learning curve of knowing people who don't already know who you are and whatever.
Now for Leo, maybe this is REALLY just me on my copium life support but I see where he's coming from too. Again, when you look at it from a canon lens I see where Leo is coming from. He's always been protective of his family, even more so than Raph at points. He didn't trust Big Mama immediately, even though the rest of his brothers did. He was perfectly willing and happy to DIE IN THE PRISON DIMENSION to keep his family safe. Like, let's not forget he, as well as the others, has a ton of unchecked trauma that he's definitely not willing to address to anyone. A decade of unaddressed trauma will do things to someone's psyche, intentionally or not. The guilt of almost killing his brothers has been festering inside him for over a decade now, this doesn't really seem entirely like a "my brother touches you and not me >:(" thing.
The way I see it Leo's acting out because he's actually just terrified of someone hurting his family again. It's definitely not okay, and it's condemnable. But as someone who's done some pretty fucked shit when I was dealing with my depression before meds, I've been Leo before. That man needs help, and fast.
We've also seen, from Symphony AU that he's mostly accepted the violist as part of the family now. The comments he makes about her being "Donnie's toy" are, again, things he seems to be saying to get a rise out of Donnie. We know he's been doing that for a while. And I wouldn't really put it past him for continuing to try and do it now that Donnie's not allowed to do his experiments anymore.
I had a way better way of wording this last night but I ended up watching TMNT 1987 instead but to summarize my thoughts, I sympathize with both Leo and Donnie and don't believe either of them are irredeemable monsters. If I'm somehow wrong about Leo and this is all just conduit to getting Donnie and the violist together then I'm gonna be so :(. Mafuyu Main Story chapter 14 even.
Or, again, maybe I'm just coping lol.
oh i'm all about symphony copium. breathe deep, anon-chan, hahahaha
aaaaand in true desceros fashion this got way too long so i'm tucking it under a cut. rolls eyes at myself soooooo hard
you're largely correct, though i will specify that for donnie it's not that he "didn't bother" to communicate what he thought was going on, so much as he thought he did.
i invite you-slash-everyone to read this passage from when the agreement was struck to see what i mean. i've removed all of viola-chan's thoughts and interpretations for you, and left you with just the core of the conversation, color-coded for clarity on who's speaking:
“We have… exhausted the limits of touching that I would perform with most people.”  [...] “…What do you mean?”  “I mean that all of the myriad mechanical touches I have experienced so far in my life, we’ve covered together. [...] I’ve become completely enured to them all, so long as you’re the one doing them. There is, of course, an obvious next step, but I wanted to discuss it before we begin.”  “To… touches you haven’t done?” [...] “Correct." [...] “I… don’t understand." [...] “I’m referring to more… intimate touches. We’ve… already been pushing at the boundary a bit, so I wanted to be very specific and clear." [...]
“I… take it you don’t scent your brothers.” “No, I don’t." [...] “Donnie, I—[...] I like you. You know that, right?”  “You aren’t very good at hiding it, no. [...] I, of course, like you as well, though I’d like to think that has been well demonstrated over our time together.”
[...]"…Intimate touches. [...] Like… what, petting? Kissing? Sex? What are we talking about, exactly?”  “All of it, ideally. [...] I’m quite curious to study how I’ll react, especially considering the whole touch aversion situation.” [...] “…Do… Do you wanna try it? [...] …Us, together, I mean?”  [...] “Really? With… With me?” [...] “Of course, I—[...]Donnie, I… of course. I’d be stupid to say no, right?” “Oh, that’s such a relief. [...] I’ve been making spreadsheets of things I’ve wanted to try for several days and wondering how best to bring it up, especially considering—well. It’s quite helpful that you did so yourself. Excellent work, consultant.” [...] “Well, I’d like to amend our agreement on how turtle time is going to go, from now on in light of all this, [...] We’re partners, now, so we have to take care of each other. [...]” “[...]Very well. If those are your terms for partnership, I accept.”
see how differently it reads without viola-chan's thoughts staining it? stripped of her thoughts, you can easily see where the miscommunication happened. other than a few incidental pieces of dialogue that don't affect the meaning of the convo, this is it.
in donnie's mind, he and viola-chan were very much on the same page. "partnership". "agreement". these are words that viola-chan uses. when he refers to spreadsheets, she just rolls with it. as far as he's concerned, they're talking about a scientific study here. he did communicate, and well. it's just... viola-chan put things there that he didn't. and that's not her fault, because at this point she hasn't picked up on how to communicate with donnie yet. and it's completely rational to assume, when discussing sex and romance and hearing someone say "i like you"--and then going on to kiss and have sex with that person--that it's a romantic relationship. as stated in the fic, my personal opinion (which to be clear, as someone who stands on death of the author, this *is* just my opinion) neither of them did the other ill. they literally just didn't know how to communicate yet. so i 100% agree with you on being able to see donnie's side of this. i have another long-ass ask somewhere in the meta tag discussing the lack of socializing specifically, if you're curious for more of my thoughts on that.
i also agree with you largely with the leo portion of your analysis. i... can't go into as much detail on his side of things, but rest assured that before everything is over, viola-chan and leo are going to have more than one conversation. and the two of them, despite everything, really do mesh well and talk about things, so it'll be a satisfying resolution, i think.
anyway WOW that got way too long but teal deer, i agree and love deep meta-analysis of my stuff so don't apologize in the slighest, yeehaw

Honestly, Viv replacing the beloved talent (like Kovach and Ed) for fancy Broadway actors is just shameful.
They worked their asses off and helped to create popular characters for her, only for her to shove them aside for bland performances. Angel (while brief) sounded devoid of the personality that Kovach clearly has.
And based on the leaks, Alastor sounds like he's phoning it in too. Even Charlie's singing sounded kinda bland, even though it wasn't bad. Charlie in the pilot sang her fucking heart out.
Lucifer is going to piss a lot of people off too.
The only ones I'm looking forward to are Alex, Keith David, and Rosa.
Hoo boy. People are about to cope so hard.
Line up the copium tanks and get ready to swaddle the baby blankets. You can just hear the frantic little keyboard taps of people desperately trying to convince themselves "'Ey kids, you wanna see a dead body?" Angel sounds better than Michael.

Quick question for when you wake up - how do you think Kyrie fits thematically. She really behaves differently from the other women in the ushiromia family. Most of them are desperately trying to cling to any shread of power in this misogynistic structure, while Kyrie is very confident in her power. Yet despite seeming to not care for it, she never points out that it's bullshit, not saying a peep when Eva rips into natsuhi
That plus her creepy behaviour makes her really stand out
What's up with her?
Hmmm see. You have three “in laws” so to speak. Let’s see what’s up with them as a group.
Hideyoshi: a businessman. He understands money but he’s not the best at being cutthroat. He’s an affable liar who uses said skills to smooth things over and keep the air from getting too thick. He has his own restaurant chain and invests a lot of love and labor into it. If it weren’t for the mistake of not looking out for board members trying to kick him out of his own company, he couldn’t care less about Kinzo or the Ushiromiya problems beyond them bringing out the worse in his wife. He just needs a lot of money right now.
Natsuhi: married to the Ushiromiya Successor. It’s her job to bear him children and she has been called a walking womb on more than one occasion by other family members. She takes her duty very seriously. She’s coping hard by making her title of Wife and Mother her whole identity. It’s either this or kill herself at this point.
Kyrie: not married to the Successor nor a possible Successor herself (like Eva who’s inhaling copium since she was born). The sexual dominant in their relationship. Has her own thing going on: shady business with Rudolf and taking care of Angie who’s either a baby or a toddler.
I really don’t think Kyrie is an oddity. The only women clinging like crazy to the Ushiromiya Patriarch and his structures of power are people who have a chance at raising their standing within the hierarchy. Kyrie does not care. She does not think the world revolves around Kinzo. She’s here because she’s Rudolf’s wife but that’s bc she’s /his/ emotional support.
Now about your question as to why she doesn’t challenge Eva when she’s treating Natsuhi like shit… why would Kyrie care? Kyrie has been married to Rudolf for 6 years while the Eva/Natsuhi humiliation rituals have been going on since before fucking George was born. She’s not a naturally empathetic person. She’d just dispassionately watch it happen in front of her and go “the dinner is getting cold” if it takes too long.
Anyways. Yeah. That’s my current Kyrie interpretation.

nobara is dead as hell and you guys know it. the cope that she would return got squandered with this week's chapter bc we all thought that with gege's penchant for lining up events of the manga with the anime, she'd finally be back this week after 3 long years but alas...
you guys need to keep this in mind
Tumblr media
the reason why her status is still in limbo after 3 whole years is because of this. with the hard confirmation of her death, gege won't be able to pull this surprise off. it's also the reason why i think gojo is dead for real real despite all the obvious buddhist revival hints scattered throughout the story. guys, gojo already had enlightenment. he's already had it happen once. it's not gonna happen again. and the only hope of nobara coming back is because everyone is still clinging onto the fact that she's in limbo. she's only in limbo because gege wants to keep the "1 person lives/dies" a secret until the very end (obviously) but he killed off nobara way too soon in the story so now he has to intentionally never mention her, be vague about her status, and sprinkle in enough copium in the manga to keep people on their toes. megumi is the same. although he most definitely is not quite dead YET, i personally think it is obvious his body is done for. we won't see him getting his body back. we'll see his soul when yuuji does his soul swap thingy (ch. 220) but his body, his cursed technique, his life, it's finished.
which brings me to why i think this is why it's going to be like that, why jjk will end like that: yuuji, in chapter 1, was cursed by his grandfather
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and in chapter 9, yuuji cursed gojo megumi and nobara
Tumblr media
yuuji's granddad's dying wish was for yuuji to be surrounded by people once he dies. instead all the people that surround him will be dead. yuuji tells gojo megumi and nobara to live long lives. instead they all die before the year is over. it would be too ironic. the boy that was supposed to be executed is the only one who gets to live. it makes sense. it's why i think nobara is dead, why gojo is not coming back, why megumi is done for. but hey ... i'm a firm believer of the saying i'll believe it when i see it ... so who knows maybe this is not how jjk will end at all ... but i'll believe it when i see it. jjk is ending soon anyways, i give it max 30 chapters.

✨Salutations✨ If you don’t mind, I would like to ask some questions…
What is “huffin copium” it says that “One of the most recent definitions of Copium was posted by Urban Dictionary user enterprise1701 who defined the term as "a metaphorical opiate inhaled when faced with loss, failure or defeat, especially in sports, politics and other tribal settings."  Look, I am still getting the hand of ‘/j, /hj etc etc. so I am not caught up with copiums :,)
Another question, Is Venna alive in the Blackout Hospital game? Because I keep imagining that Venna is and that Rune and Venna are having a custody battle over Ingram-
Haha omg!! I didn't think I would have to explain huffing copium! XD /lighthearted
I will try to explain it best I can! That Urban Dictionary definition is correct, but it might be a bit hard to understand. So I will try to explain it clearer. (I also hope it doesnt come off condescending because that's not my intention!)
"Huffing copium" comes from the terms "cope" and "opium". To "cope" means to emotionally deal with something difficult. (Ex: When Ingram was living with his abusive mother, he would often write in his diary as a way to cope.) Opium is an addictive drug that can be smoked (ie: "huffing").
When people say someone is "huffing copium", it means that they are very intensely trying to emotionally deal with something. For example, when I say Rune is "huffing copium" when Ryo gets slashed in half, it means that Rune is trying extremely hard to reassure himself that everything will be okay because he is deathly afraid of the alternative even if it's the most likely outcome. He is trying extremely hard to cope with the situation.
For your second question, I am unsure if Venna is alive in Blackout Hospital! It was not something I thought too deeply into.

I finally fucken read the scanlations of the chapter and imma be real with yall, Tabata fumbled this immensely.
Allow me to explain.
All things considered, Jack's "death"* feels incredibly bland, not just how it's handled but also how it affects his character and the overall theme Black Clover has.
*(Tabata has a trend of coping out deaths, so I'm hoping this is a red herring to sort of divert our attention from probably the fact that Yuno's spell won't hold on forever, so we're, ironically, on a race against time. This also may be a sort of Fuegoleon situation, considering we haven't seen the Earth Spirit/Gnome yet, so considering Jack's blade magic is a sort of "final" earth form (earth>> ore>> metal>> weapon>> blade) but maybe that's just me on copium. We Shall See)
With his character, the death feels kinda bland and showy. Tabata's main good ability in writing characters is by putting a different spin on them or flipping the tropes. In Jack's case, he's supposedly the bloodthirsty battle maniac trope, with his complicated and restrictive home life actually being a reason for his carefree battle attitude. The PROBLEM here is that Tabata put too little time in his development/roster, not really enough of his own thoughts, and the last slash ends up being less of a "I choose how I will die, and I'll die swinging" and more of "all I can think about is slashing and that's what I'll do dying", which completely fucks up the whole character.
Jack is, as we know it, the ONLY Clover born commoner captain. Everyone else is either nobility or immigrants with ridiculous magic (Yami may have been technically considered nobility but his foreign status is more important to his character, we have so little info on Dorothy's life I'm not even gonna speculate). By all sense and means, Jack was likely the only captain who even accepted commoners and peasants with average skills. One could argue he was probably the first commoner captain, considering Zara was the first peasant magic knight, only about 20+ years ago.
This, coupled with Jack's very vague character writing, shows that Tabata didn't really know HOW to write him in an interesting/meaningful way. So he essentially kills him off because he doesn't know what to do with him.
This falls back into how the death itself is contradictory to the themes BC has. The theme Black Clover has, by essence, is that "peasants/those weren't born lucky or talented can strive to reach great, if not greater, heights as those above them using hard work and determination" as well as "the class system affects everything, and by being inherently bigoted, it infects every other system in regards to it". The problem here is with Tabata's writing falling into "tell not show" categories (whether its because of page limits, editor influence or other things), by trying to show both themes at the same time, he ends up punishing the underdogs MORE than those who are inherently privileged (nobles with lots of mana), if not actively rewarding them.
This could be attributed to either how much time Tabata spends on other characters vs those he ignores or how very few of the cast with ACTIVE roles in the story belong to the middle/lower class.
For example, Yuno's abilities and powerups in Spade arc and this current one FEEL like asspulls, mostly because despite being one of the main trio, we're not given a lot of time to SEE how he gets it/develops it. If we had previously seen a montage of him training to develop his skills in the 3 day period before the raids and the 3 days before Lucius comes knocking or even the 1.5 YEAR TIMESKIP, a LOT of the complaints about it being an asspull would be null because we'd actually see the work being put into it.
The opposite can be said for Jack. Jack falls into essentially the same category as Asta and Magna - people of lower classes that have to work harder than those above them to reach the same heights, but by putting more effort into it, the underdog status triumphs over the naturally gifted.
This could be seen all the way back in Spade arc, with Jack developing skills mid battle to face off/stall Dante, then being the one to silently kill him off to not sour the victory Magna got. Its GOOD that it was Jack who assisted in the kill because he was of the lower class like Magna and Zora and Asta. In addition, keeping silent about it doesn't sour the victory either because Jack likely knows the feeling of having hard earned kills being stolen.
Even the contribution against Lucifero is, even if minor, still valued because he's not the only one who got beat up, ALL of the captains got smacked up to show the threat Lucifero was.
The problem in character writing falls in this recent chapter, with Jack being the first fatality.
One could say that Lucius is being inherently bigoted in his own way - he's born of a noble lineage, all of the paladins are of nobility as well and its implied that the legless angels, who were described as "rebels" were actually peasants. Its a good choice, considering that Lucius is supposed to be the almost last antagonist, so he essentially HAS to show that he's a bit of a racist to uphold the themes of the story. He's both the Puritan and Calvinist wave in Christianity, while also claiming that those born with less mana are inherently more weak and should be erased and "rebuilt" to have the same amount of magic as everyone.
The problem in it is that not only does it undermine a lot of the peasants/commoners who actively got merit through hard work, it's also giving eugenics and the Christian idea that you "deserve" flaws that you were born with/can't control and thus further pushing classist/racist ideology. Lucius is still commiting genocide against the lower class and still is falling into the idea that "once everyone has the same amount of large mana, there will be no wars :)", indirectly blaming the lower class for disparities done by the upper class.
However, with his attack on Clover by fighting against those struggling to still live, would clash with the peasant/commoner ideology that no amount of effort gone into bettering yourself is wasted. All effort to become better is still valuable and Clover Kingdom fighting against the sentries/paladins/Lucius would SHOW that.
The problem is that Jack dying is not helping the idea or the narrative. Even the final slash only so much as leaves a massive canyon in the ground and kills off maybe 2 or 3 sentries, while Morgan is "miraculously" still without a scratch. Its equal parts infuriating and makes Jack's death feel for naught. Even the final regret of not being able to slash Yami only makes him fall more into a 2 dimensional character trope. It ends up with Tabata actively punishing the underdogs and trying to get rid of the characters who he's SUPPOSED to be able to write, as per the story.
Unless the final massive slash somehow does something to either turn the tides/bring Asta home/hell, even just getting him a spirit/demon contract, it falls flat for the narrative and doesn't progress his character.
So far there's no ACTIVE show that Jack is completely dead and done for outside of a forth of his grimoire already disappearing, so maybe there's still some last minute death save for him. I hope, because otherwise, Justice 4 Jack.

⚠️ 3.6 Kaveh kit leaks
Tumblr media
Honestly, I was coping real hard when I first saw the details about Kaveh's kit because I'd painted such a beautiful picture of my Dream Team with Alhaitham and Kaveh. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised how much sense Kaveh's kit makes.
Given how much the storyline so far has been pushing the idea of the two being complete opposites, it would be silly to have them synergise. It would essentially be out of character for one to be a support for the other.
However, consider Ragbros. They too are two characters that are portrayed in the storyline as rivals of sorts, brothers who have some dark history and just can't get along. But Kaeya works well as a burst support for Diluc in melt team comps. So assuming that Gameplay will be in full accordance with Lore is a little short-sighted I suppose.
Now in terms of Meta, Kaveh is very clearly a bloom driver. BUT he does have great reaction damage bonuses (this is before he gets nerfed for beta tests) so I think (and this is highly copium) if you slap 4pc Deepwood on Kaveh with high ER and EM and 4pc Gilded on Alhaitham, Kaveh may be a good hyperbloom support for Alhaitham. Maybe.
But as I said it really does not look ideal. I myself have already scrapped my Dream Team and am working on building a bloom team comp for DPS Kaveh.
