This isn't an ask or a request or anything (at least I think it doesn't count as one but if it does I'm sorry) but what are your headcannons of sleepwear the captains wear? Do they sleep shirtless, with pajamas or maybe they wear those frilly victorian looking shirts or maybe something else who knows

Hmm 🤔 yeah I think this goes under talking about the characters/the show better than as a HC request 🤔 but anyways.. Let's get to the actual ask!

For Fue, and yes I'll start with him because I can 🤭 I have a rather unpopular headcanon for him. And that is that he sleeps in his boxers.

It's because he is warm, and tends to get warm easily that he has opted to sleep in just his boxers though as royalty he'd be expected to have a proper pyjama. It's a "scandalous" secret of his

Nozel wear a silk, button up, pyjama. It's very light silver that looks blue-ish in certain light.

Yami wears boxers as well to bed. And sometimes not even that 🤭

Dorothy has a t-shirt and pyjama shorts, which are lift purple and fuscia in colour. The top also has a cupcake picture on it (Idk where that HC comes from but I can see it so vividly)

Charlotte wears a more Victorian nightgown, which is made of cotton, is ankle length and blue.

William wears a white t-shirt and boxers during the summer when it gets really warm, and has proper pyjama pants during the winter

Kaiser wears a proper pyjama shirt, also button up, and pyjama pants, which have purple and fuscia stripes. It was a gift from his wife and is made of satin.

Jack wears also a white t-shirt and long pyjama pants made of cotton.

Rill has a proper pyjama with a teddy bear on the shirt. It's light blue, but he has used clothing dye to make little colorful spots here and there on it for a more creative look. His buttler (Walter) tried to wash them away at first, but after Rill told him that he made them on purpose, let them stay on the clothes

Mereo wears either nothing at all, or then an oversized t-shirt and panties.

Julius (bonus) wears a t-shirt and pyjama pants. The shirt is white and the pants are grey from his grey deer days. He could buy new ones, but these are just so soft and comfy that he doesn't bear to let them go

So you summoned him by accident. How do you even summon a DEMON by accident? A hot but grumpy one at that.

"How the fuck did you accidentally summon me, pesky human?"

Yeap, and he was sarcastic and rude too. Well it was kinda your fault, but you were shameless till the end.

"who told you to make your hotline so easily accessible?" you raised a brow at him. Were you arguing with a demon? seriously? at 2am in the morning?

Nozel couldn't believe it either. He could easily kill you but you intrigued him. People usually screamed or cry when they saw him. But not you. You were stunned momentarily yes but for the first time in awhile, someone was not afraid of him.

You even started asking him questions of the afterlife and his world and how he existed. You were astounded by his powers (which made him swell with pride a little inside) and how he could just snap his fingers and destroy something.

You actually fell asleep in his presence. He couldn't understand that at first. He thought you could be just playing in cool or acting like humans do to get themselves out of trouble. But here you were, falling asleep right in front of him.

You then summoned him purposely on another occasion. Just because you wanted to ask "do demons sleep, eat and poop?"

God, he wanted to crush you but you were kinda... cute? Is that what the humans call it?

Once, a burglar broke into your house and practically held you at knife point. Thank god you managed to summon Nozel and the burglars almost got their limbs dissected.

You were shivering a little after the ordeal which made Nozel angry. He then realised he cared about you. Of course he didn't show it or tell you that quickly; he's a powerful demon with an even bigger ego, cut him some slack.

"Now are you complaining about that easily accessible hotline?"

Yami Sukehiro (werewolf)

He hid himself well amongst the human race, careful to hide away during full moon nights.

You were his colleague that went on a business trip with him but due to unforeseen circumstances, you both got stranded overseas. Well it was really unforeseen since you met a robber that pretended to be your company hired chauffeur.

He brought you both to some weird deserted place and tried to rob you, but alas Yami was a great fighter, so no one was hurt, but they did get away with your belongings, and now you both were left stranded with very little money while the night was coming and help could only come the next day.

Well, turns out you only had money for one room and it was a full moon night so... you know where this troupe goes.

When you both went into your room, Yami decided it was best to come clean to you in case you freaked out.

"so..... I'm not human."

"Well, I hope you are god because I would damn well ask you how did you get us into this predicament??" you didn't really buy what he said, come on now, it's a pretty big stretch to believe someone is not human.

He stared at you with a raised brow. He never told anyone this secret before so he didn't really know what to expect. But when people accidentally saw his true form, most of them fainted.

When midnight came, Yami felt it coming. You were not asleep yet, so he had no choice.

"Y/n, just don't panic or scream, you'll land us into more trouble. I promise I won't hurt you." and he transformed right before your eyes.

You jumped out of bed and stood at the door. Well, because he was MASSIVE and took out most of the pathetic tiny room.

You both blinked at each other. And then you inched closer and closer.... And Yami lay down, showing you that he was not aggressive.

You reached out and touched his ears. They are warm and soft and it twitched under your touch.

"eh I'm not a dog, dammit." Yami growled. But damn it felt good.

You spent the night touching his black glossy fur, looking at his fangs, stroking his snout while he was complaining about how he's not a dog but a beast that kills but there he was lying on the floor while you pat him.

Damn he's been domesticated now.

Jack the Ripper (Vampire)

Jack was injured by an attack by werewolves, he thought that was the end, he was going to die. Wooden stake that nearly missed his heart, tied to the tree, ready to be burnt alive by the sunlight

But thankfully you saw him, in the wee hours of the morning, the sunlight already starting to burn bits of his skin.

You already knew what he was from the start but you still decided to approach him.

"H-hi..? Are you alive?" your trembling soft voice tried to call out to him.

Jack barely opened his eyes. A face that looked like an angel. A face that became his favourite view in the world today.

"could you manage to pull the wooden thingy out, sweet cakes?"

By the time you managed to, Jack already suffered from pretty major burns and had passed out from the immense pain. But you dragged his long and heavy body back to the nearest shelter you could find and nursed him back to health.

Jack repaid your kindness by always helping you with your "dumb human chores". Ie: gathering wood or any small items found in the wood to sell.

You both were in love with each other, but Jack knew better than to be with a human. One day you'll age and die while Jack will never change.

But one day while you were out in the woods gathering trinklets again, you were attacked by vampires from another clan. And you were dying. Fast.

Jack had to make a decision then and there. And he turned you into a vampire too.

Can i request where the Captains all enjoy themselves on a beach day.Can you also do a small drabble where after a day at the beach they come back to the shared penthouse and do a drunken game of truth or dare👀 (i feel like all the captains had to grow up too fast and they deserve some teenage fun times❤)

Hiya anon! So i decided to do these as HC’s instead of a fic or drabble since it was easier to do it that way, I hope you don’t mind! This was a fun idea, and I apologize that the dares and truths are pretty lame, I’ve never played the game IRL so…yeah these are pretty basic 😂. But I hope you enjoy~!

Context: The Magic Knight Captains were all given a mini vacation for all the hard work they’ve done recently, each one accepted except for Kaiser, who said he and his wife were going to go on a “second honeymoon” instead. So the Captain’s all agreed to go to the beach for their vacation. They spent nearly all day out there swimming, laying in the sand, playing games like volleyball and most importantly; Yami and Jack barbecued the Captain’s dinner and they ate it on the beach.

Afterwards they all went back to their shared villa and decided to play a few games before bed. After drinking a bit, one such game Yami had suggested was called “Truth or Dare”.

Yami:

• Hadn’t been too surprised when the bottle landed on him first, in a way he had expected it, since he was the one to suggest the game in the first place.

• He chuckled a bit before choosing “Dare”, and he watched as the Captain’s all tried to think of what to dare him to do.

• Finally Jack snapped his fingers and dared him to wear nothing but his swimsuit for the rest of the game.

• Yami snorted and muttered about how that was “a really dumb dare” but of course he did it anyway, as he finished changing and sat down next to Charlotte he noticed her face turned a bright red. When he asked what was wrong or if she drank too much, she would just shake her head.

William:

• Was a bit surprised when the bottle landed on him next.

• But he quickly cleared his throat and, after weighing his options, decided “Truth” would be the better choice.

• After thinking for a moment Yami decided to ask him an easy question, since it was the first time he had played the game.

• He decided to ask William if it was true that he had a sleeping mask that looked identical to the mask he always wore, after being taken aback for a moment, let out a chuckle before answering calmly “No.”

Charlotte:

• Felt her heart skip a beat as soon as the bottle landed on her, she had hoped it would be a while before the bottle landed on her but of course, she wasn’t so lucky.

• She quickly cleared her throat and, like William, decided on “Truth”. She watched as the others debated on a question before her head snapped in the direction of Dorothy, who let out a mischievous giggle.

• “Is it true you like Yami?” As soon as that question left the other woman's mouth Charlotte could have swore her heart stopped in her chest. She quickly looked away and, after Dorothy giggled again, was reminded that she had to tell the truth.

• Charlotte took a deep breath and opened her mouth slowly, this wasn’t the way she wanted to confess to Yami, but she didn’t have much choice. But as soon as she opened it she heard Yami snort and say that it wasn’t fair to ask her that, when he was asked why, he pointed to her face and said that she was “way past her limit” with alcohol and that she may misunderstand the meaning of “like” in Dorothy’s question.

• Charlotte had opened her mouth to say her face was red from embarrassment not being drunk, but quickly closed it again as she realized Yami had only said that to give her an out. So she took it, and decided to act a lot more drunk than she actually was. As long as it meant she didn’t have to confess her feelings for Yami because of a game, she would act like she was the drunkest woman alive.

Fuegoleon:

• Wasn’t really interested in the game at first, but decided he would go ahead and go along with it since it was “something new to learn”. So he was a bit surprised when it landed on him next.

• He debated on which to pick but decided to pick “Dare” since it hadn’t been chosen very much.

• After thinking for a moment Nozel, with a smirk, decided to dare Fuegoleon into saying that “Nozel was a much better Captain” than him. Fuegoleon debated for a moment before quickly grabbing the bottle of alcohol and taking a sip of it as a penalty for not doing the dare.

• But Rill quickly Dared that he teach Salamander a trick or two, like you would a pet, and Fuegoleon had blinked in surprise before he quickly decided that the dare wasn’t *too* bad. So he taught Salamander to “sit” and “lay down” just like you would a dog.

Nozel:

• Felt that the game was “childish”, “immature”, and “boring” at first. But as it went on he found it quite interesting so he wasn’t too irritated when the bottle landed on him.

• As soon as it did he quickly decided that “Truth” was the best choice, and as soon as the word left his mouth, the other Captains quickly opened their mouths to ask a bunch of questions.

• But they quickly shut again as Charlotte reminded them that they couldn’t ask any “inappropriate” questions during the game, and she rolled her eyes slightly as disappointed looks crossed multiple of the Captains faces.

• Rill quickly asked if it was true that he had a servant whose sole job was to braid his hair and that no one else was allowed to but that servant. Nozel cleared his throat and felt his cheeks heat up slightly before he answered with a soft “Yes”.

Dorothy:

• Was excited when the bottle finally landed on her!

• She instantly chose “Dare” as she felt that would be the most fun option, and she watched gleefully as they all tried to come up with some sort of dare for her to do.

• Rill, once again, came up with one. This time it was the most cliché of dares; he dared her to kiss the person she found most attractive, and Dorothy didn’t seem to mind.

• She quickly straightened her cloak, looked around the room with a small smirk, before moving towards Nozel and giving him a kiss on the cheek, surprising everyone!

Rill:

• After everyone had recovered from the shock of Dorothy kissing Nozel, they spun the bottle again and it landed on Rill this time. Much to his glee.

• He decided to go with “Dare” and instantly Yami had an idea; “do impressions of everyone in the room, while giving your honest thoughts about them.” Rill’s eyes lit up like a kid's eyes would on Christmas.

• He quickly cleared his throat and began to do his impressions, he started off with Fuegoleon and Nozel both being too uptight, then with Dorothy always sleeping, then with Charlotte and her crush on a certain “unnamed” Captain, and finally with Jack and Yami and their bickering.

• The Captain’s all had to admit that it was amusing, even if some of the honest points Rill made hurt at times.

Jack the Ripper:

• Was finally relieved when the bottle spun and landed on him, since he had been waiting rather patiently for his turn.

• Immediately he chose “Dare”, which didn’t surprise anyone. Yami instantly shouted that Jack would “have to run around outside the villa naked”, but Charlotte kindly reminded him that they couldn’t ask or dare each other to do anything “inappropriate”.

• So Yami made an adjustment; Jack would have to run around outside the villa wearing nothing but a speedo, which Charlotte allowed since he would be considered clothed.

• Jack agreed, but on the condition that Yami do it with him and that they race. So, Yami being Yami, agreed. The Captains all went outside after Jack had changed, and watched as he and Yami raced each other multiple times around the Villa.

Milestones: Jack

Asking him out:

This one already is a hassle because that man refuses to believe that anyone could even want to seriously think about dating him. And you´ve had a crush on him for ages now and you know he likes you too (you overheard him and Yami talk about you one day) so you decide to finally shoot your shot. Jack really needs a good minute to comprehend what you just said and really awkwardly agrees to go out with you while trying to hide the massive crush he has on you.

First date:

Since you´re the one to ask him out it´s also your job to plan the date. Knowing Jack you want it to be something special but not overly romantic. So you´re going to slay beasts in an enchanted forest with a nice picnic and watching the sunset afterwards. He´s always at ease while fighting plus loves showing off to you. And you cheering him on and looking so beautiful while fighting as well, it´s just perfect to him. (Your second date is him trying to cook dinner for you and miserably failing so you end up in a bar)

First kiss:

It happens at said date. Both of you have been pining for the other for way too long and the moment is just right. It´s late, almost everyone left already. You´re in a corner booth and talking about your latest missions. Jack just said something that made you laugh so hard you had to hold onto him and wipe the tears from your eyes. And it´s this moment his heart jumps out of his chest as he´s just watching you, so adoringly, a soft smile on his lips. He´s the one to make the first move when you´re finished laughing and tells you afterwards that it´s his favorite sound. 

First one saying I love you:

It´s him. You just returned from one of those missions where you didn´t know whether or not you would make it, completely exhausted and just crashing into bed at home. Yami runs it by Jack cause he´s worried too and Jack just completely blanks. His heart breaks in this instance and he can´t even describe the fear in his heart, just thinking about the possibility of loosing you. You´re still tired when he arrives at your doorstep but already took a shower and looked after your wounds. Not enough for Jack´s liking because he rebandages and cleans them again. He cooks for you and you both cuddle wordlessly for a while. It´s not Jack´s place to tell you to be careful because both of you know it could´ve as well been him. He´s trying his hardest to choke back his tears, tears of utter relief to have you in his arms. But eventually he cracks and just repeats those three little words over and over again. 

Sharing a bed:

It happens the same night. He doesn´t want to leave you alone, actually he fucking refuses to. At this point you two can´t even decide who´s more emotional but it´s a tie. And honestly, you don´t want to be alone either. So both of you get ready to bed, Jack helps you with everything even though he doesn´t need to but you still appreciate it. He wraps his arms around you and cuddles you until you both fall asleep and it´s the best sleep you´ve got in a while. 

Moving in:

Honestly it just happened. It was a gradual process none of you questioned or even talked about. His things would just start appearing at  your place and over time he settled in completely. To be fair his place was quite shit so it was out of question that when you would move in it would be your place. You also didn´t want to search for a new one since it was just a hellish process. 

Being intimate:

Jack always has been known to ignore personal space anyway so you´ve always been close in that way. He´s just very surprised when you get handsy as well, when it´s suddenly you who grabs him by the waist when maneuvering through the crowds or when you´re touching his chest or shoulder when he´s telling something funny... so yeah, with you it kind of always was there from the beginning but your bond keeps deepening and every single touch is meaningful. 

Sharing everything:

Secrets were never a big thing with the two of you. Jack has always felt safe with you, from the first date onwards. He also hates hiding things from the one he loves so he always tells you everything. However he isn´t insensitive and he does need time to fully open up. Both of you always say whenever you want to share something and then it doesn´t lose its meaning. It´s so important to Jack that you feel validated and loved, just like you make him feel. 

Loosening up:

This never has been a topic for you guys. Jack cracked jokes from the minute he saw you and you played along right away. This is one of the major reasons he fell for you in the first place. Still, in your relationship there are a few moments in which you both feel your bond deepen. On occasion you will tell each other little silly things from your past and your worries and such. 

Proposal:

He never thought you wanted to tie the knot since you were already together for so long now, he didn´t really see the point. Which is why the proposal didn´t come from him. He didn´t refuse to propose because he didn´t want to spend his life with you, he´s just stupid and didn´t think about it. However your proposal is very sweet and romantic, it actually touches him to tears. He understands why marriage is so important to some people now, it might just be symbolism but in the end the rings on your fingers will show everyone you´re happily taken. It fills him with an immense sense of pride. 

Marriage:

You wanted your ceremony to be small and quiet but of course that didn´t happen. Because you have friends in high places basically the whole kingdom gets involved. It´s a huge feast and party, it goes on for a whole weekend. You told everyone not to get you any gifts but by the end of it your house is completely filled to the brim. Nevertheless you have a great time.

I finally fucken read the scanlations of the chapter and imma be real with yall, Tabata fumbled this immensely.

Allow me to explain.

All things considered, Jack's "death"* feels incredibly bland, not just how it's handled but also how it affects his character and the overall theme Black Clover has.

*(Tabata has a trend of coping out deaths, so I'm hoping this is a red herring to sort of divert our attention from probably the fact that Yuno's spell won't hold on forever, so we're, ironically, on a race against time. This also may be a sort of Fuegoleon situation, considering we haven't seen the Earth Spirit/Gnome yet, so considering Jack's blade magic is a sort of "final" earth form (earth>> ore>> metal>> weapon>> blade) but maybe that's just me on copium. We Shall See)

With his character, the death feels kinda bland and showy. Tabata's main good ability in writing characters is by putting a different spin on them or flipping the tropes. In Jack's case, he's supposedly the bloodthirsty battle maniac trope, with his complicated and restrictive home life actually being a reason for his carefree battle attitude. The PROBLEM here is that Tabata put too little time in his development/roster, not really enough of his own thoughts, and the last slash ends up being less of a "I choose how I will die, and I'll die swinging" and more of "all I can think about is slashing and that's what I'll do dying", which completely fucks up the whole character.

Jack is, as we know it, the ONLY Clover born commoner captain. Everyone else is either nobility or immigrants with ridiculous magic (Yami may have been technically considered nobility but his foreign status is more important to his character, we have so little info on Dorothy's life I'm not even gonna speculate). By all sense and means, Jack was likely the only captain who even accepted commoners and peasants with average skills. One could argue he was probably the first commoner captain, considering Zara was the first peasant magic knight, only about 20+ years ago.

This, coupled with Jack's very vague character writing, shows that Tabata didn't really know HOW to write him in an interesting/meaningful way. So he essentially kills him off because he doesn't know what to do with him.

This falls back into how the death itself is contradictory to the themes BC has. The theme Black Clover has, by essence, is that "peasants/those weren't born lucky or talented can strive to reach great, if not greater, heights as those above them using hard work and determination" as well as "the class system affects everything, and by being inherently bigoted, it infects every other system in regards to it". The problem here is with Tabata's writing falling into "tell not show" categories (whether its because of page limits, editor influence or other things), by trying to show both themes at the same time, he ends up punishing the underdogs MORE than those who are inherently privileged (nobles with lots of mana), if not actively rewarding them.

This could be attributed to either how much time Tabata spends on other characters vs those he ignores or how very few of the cast with ACTIVE roles in the story belong to the middle/lower class.

For example, Yuno's abilities and powerups in Spade arc and this current one FEEL like asspulls, mostly because despite being one of the main trio, we're not given a lot of time to SEE how he gets it/develops it. If we had previously seen a montage of him training to develop his skills in the 3 day period before the raids and the 3 days before Lucius comes knocking or even the 1.5 YEAR TIMESKIP, a LOT of the complaints about it being an asspull would be null because we'd actually see the work being put into it.

The opposite can be said for Jack. Jack falls into essentially the same category as Asta and Magna - people of lower classes that have to work harder than those above them to reach the same heights, but by putting more effort into it, the underdog status triumphs over the naturally gifted.

This could be seen all the way back in Spade arc, with Jack developing skills mid battle to face off/stall Dante, then being the one to silently kill him off to not sour the victory Magna got. Its GOOD that it was Jack who assisted in the kill because he was of the lower class like Magna and Zora and Asta. In addition, keeping silent about it doesn't sour the victory either because Jack likely knows the feeling of having hard earned kills being stolen.

Even the contribution against Lucifero is, even if minor, still valued because he's not the only one who got beat up, ALL of the captains got smacked up to show the threat Lucifero was.

The problem in character writing falls in this recent chapter, with Jack being the first fatality.

One could say that Lucius is being inherently bigoted in his own way - he's born of a noble lineage, all of the paladins are of nobility as well and its implied that the legless angels, who were described as "rebels" were actually peasants. Its a good choice, considering that Lucius is supposed to be the almost last antagonist, so he essentially HAS to show that he's a bit of a racist to uphold the themes of the story. He's both the Puritan and Calvinist wave in Christianity, while also claiming that those born with less mana are inherently more weak and should be erased and "rebuilt" to have the same amount of magic as everyone.

The problem in it is that not only does it undermine a lot of the peasants/commoners who actively got merit through hard work, it's also giving eugenics and the Christian idea that you "deserve" flaws that you were born with/can't control and thus further pushing classist/racist ideology. Lucius is still commiting genocide against the lower class and still is falling into the idea that "once everyone has the same amount of large mana, there will be no wars :)", indirectly blaming the lower class for disparities done by the upper class.

However, with his attack on Clover by fighting against those struggling to still live, would clash with the peasant/commoner ideology that no amount of effort gone into bettering yourself is wasted. All effort to become better is still valuable and Clover Kingdom fighting against the sentries/paladins/Lucius would SHOW that.

The problem is that Jack dying is not helping the idea or the narrative. Even the final slash only so much as leaves a massive canyon in the ground and kills off maybe 2 or 3 sentries, while Morgan is "miraculously" still without a scratch. Its equal parts infuriating and makes Jack's death feel for naught. Even the final regret of not being able to slash Yami only makes him fall more into a 2 dimensional character trope. It ends up with Tabata actively punishing the underdogs and trying to get rid of the characters who he's SUPPOSED to be able to write, as per the story.

Unless the final massive slash somehow does something to either turn the tides/bring Asta home/hell, even just getting him a spirit/demon contract, it falls flat for the narrative and doesn't progress his character.

So far there's no ACTIVE show that Jack is completely dead and done for outside of a forth of his grimoire already disappearing, so maybe there's still some last minute death save for him. I hope, because otherwise, Justice 4 Jack.
