A few years prior to the opal short Claire is sitting down with her grandpa, who quickly falls asleep, it's late at night and the TV is pure static, Claire's about to get up and head to bed when a channel comes on, a cooking channel, she looks back at the TV surprised, a man is speaking to a young woman, her eyes bright and cheery, her smiling lighting up the room, her pink skin perfectly embracing the warm colors of the rest of the interview room, her hair nicely tightened into perky pigtails, opal is skeptical of this TV show curing her internal boredom but she sits back down, after all her mother was drinking as usual, that and with her nightly medications claire didn't want to risk being grabbed by her mother to listen to her meaningless rants, Claire looks at the staircase and decides just watching one episode of this random show she's never seen before couldn't hurt, she's overheard it in the past when she was walking into the kitchen past her grandpa so she doubted it would be that bad, the man asks the woman on television if she plans on writing anymore booking books, for her audience seems to love it, she chuckles and says she isn't sure and she wants to watch before hand how well her already existing book will be before she starts working on her next one, Claire could barely pay attention to the conversation being discussed though, all her focused was putted on the woman's pigtails, the clean sleek look of them, the shininess, the bounce, Claire was mesmerized, she looked down on her flat blonde frail hair, down and dirty, she decided to try to mimic the hairstyle the woman had and headed upstairs, the man on TV chuckles heartily, "well you are a complete doll Abby" he compliments her, it seems to boost her ego, "we'll be right back with Abigail opalsin after these short messages" the TV starts to play commercials, they faded into pure static just like before, Claire walked towards the bathroom and walked in, she passed her father, sleeping away in the bathtub, Claire gets a stool from next to the sink and goes through the cabinet, she finds some hair bands and gets two of them, she scurries out quietly and goes towards her room, the only problem though is she has to go through he mother's room to do so, Claire puts the hair bands on her wrists and opens the door, gently peeking in, her mother, passed out in the bed, lucky, Claire hurries past and up the stairs as quietly as possible, she makes it up to the attic, her bedroom, and sits herself down on the floor, in front of a small mirror her father gave her, Claire starts grabbing her hair and puts the hairband around it, she does the other side as well, when she's done she stares at the wall for a few seconds before closing her eyes and sighing tiredly, so so relieved that her family was asleep, it was so quiet and peaceful without them around to taunt her, to ramble to her, to demand her, the silence was the most peaceful thing Claire could ever ask for, she picked up the mirror, it was far too dark to see though, she grumbles annoyed, before a flash of light awakens from outside her bedroom window, she looks over to it, she gets up and walks towards it with the mirror in her hand, the same old billboard had it's lights turned on, shining towards her Claire stood there with the beauty of the advertisement, loaming over her house and her, Claire sets her mirror down and opens her window, she leans outside the window with mirror in hand, without any more distractions the mirror is free to show the clear image of Claire's new pigtails right in front of her eyes, her eyes lit up with joy and wonder, her smiling finally coming into place, she smiles hugely and in awe of her new hair, "oh! hahahah" Claire softly says, laughing harmoniously, she puts her hand up to push the pigtail up sightly and to feel them, claire looks back at her self in the mirror, just like the woman in that interview, Claire now felt more professional, more stable, and the most secure she's felt in... In her whole life honestly,

Claire now looked like her.

Another girl had been accused of conspiring with the Devil.

The noise of the courthouse was deafening. Men & women alike all chant the same things. HANG HER. DROWN HER. REPENT. Grace wanted nothing more than to make it all stop; could they not see the fear on the child's face? Could they not hear her pleas of innocence & beg for her mother? The way she made herself look so small on the stand, clutching her faceless doll as if it were to come alive & save her?

No, of course, they couldn't. In this small community, a Witch shalt not be permitted to live. In this town they called home, anyone & everyone was suspected of having their names in the Devil's book. Everyone & anyone could be tried & convicted for even looking at someone the wrong way.

Humans were so fragile.

Grace stared but said nothing while the Judge asked mundane questions; how long had she been sleeping with the Devil? Why has she cursed her neighbour? List all ten of the Commandments.

In turn, the girl cried & pleaded for her innocence. Abigail was lying, anyone with eyes could see that. Grace knew, of course, she did.

But no one else could. Abigail was innocent, a victim in this circus. Why would anyone suspect her when she's been so diligent in pointing the Witches out?

Another girl was sentenced to death. Another innocent life was taken far too soon for a crime she did not commit.

The cries continued even when the noose was tightened around her throat. A prayer whispered on whimpering lips.

Umm so our sona is like just to combat our hatred of the night terrors (esp the shadow hands that do the music box)... Umm their name is Wilbur and they can summon a funny shadow friend when low on sanity to help combat other shadow creatures n enemies in general.. sorta like a less powerful Abigail and Maxwell's shadow puppets combined :] their voice is a hurdy gurdy

Our oc is named Willard. He came to the constant in 1918 and was born in 1876! He's a coal miner, so he starts with the pickaxe and the recipe for a miner's hat once he starts the game! He also loses sanity the closer it gets to night and without someone like Walter to buff sanity at night his sanity is gonna take a significant dive once darkness comes. He dislikes Maxwell bc he thinks he lost touch with his values and poverty-stricken past but he is buddies with Winona and really likes the kiddos :] Tired dad man! I think putting him on a team with Maxwell is just sillay. Oh!! His voice is a baritone sax!
