Ok I lied I’m rambling again. This one is more memory talk than anything.

I remember when Chara first fell, I was telling one of our headmates about it last time I was out. I was in the ruins (which then was a smaller city) with Dr. Gaster. We were collecting snails for Mom because Dad was busy with Gerson and Mom was busy with various things so he agreed to take me since I was too young to go that far alone. We had taken the ferry out since then the waterways in the ruins were there for the sake of boat travel, and then headed out on the upper layers of the ruins to collect snails (That’s where you play in game. Just beneath that was the city, up there was just a couple houses and gardens). I wandered away from him for a while and for closer to the enterance of the ruins. I was looking into that room where you meet flowey, which, at the time, was a big garden covered in grass and vines and flowers. I was too scared to go in since it was dark and kinda walled off from the rest of the ruins, and then I heard someone screaming. I walked over to where I heard the noise and hesitantly walked into the room. There were rumors that the big hole in the top of the underground in the ruins was a place where humans would come down from to start a second war. It was mostly just told by kids in school but some adults believed it and at the time I was kinda scared of that area. Then I saw Chara laying there. At first I was a bit scared because I just didn’t know what to do. They were crying and yelling for help but I didn’t know how to help a human. I had never seen a human before. I came up to them and got them up and walked them out to Dr. Gaster. He was shocked to see a human and walked us both back to the ferry so we could get Chara help back at home. They were really scared of him at the time and sat close to me on the ferry and hid behind me. Dr. Gaster tried to talk with them in the beginning but they didn’t respond. They had a knife on them and some bandages that they wrapped around their leg when we first sat down. Dr. Gaster said he hasn’t seen bandages like that since we went down, monsters don’t really get injured like that. Our bodies don’t get scrapes or bruises unless we’re on low HP. Chara got home and Dr. Gaster went to talk to Dad in private for a little bit, and then Mom came in and joined them, and then the next thing I knew I was alone in the living room and they were with Chara in one of our spare rooms. Chara was locked in there for a while. I wasn’t allowed to go in and see them and Mom would go up to their door a lot to talk to them but I never saw her go in unless she was opening the door to place food down. Whenever I looked in when she opened the door I never saw them. It was confusing for a while. Dr. Gaster came over a lot with medical supplies and he’d go into their room with Mom and Dad and come out with way less medical supplies. After a couple months I finally got to see them. Mom and Dad had some big royal thing to do and I was left home alone with Chara so I snuck into their room. They were hiding under their bed and their leg was wrapped up in a bunch of stuff and their hands were covered in bandages. When I pulled up the sheet that was hiding them they pointed their knife at me so I just propped the sheet up and sat at the other end of the room to give them space but still see them. They calmed down around me pretty quick and said they felt better seeing me again. They didn’t trust me fully yet but they liked seeing the person that saved them that wasn’t some 7 foot tall adult monster like Mom and Dad were. We talked for the whole day until Mom and Dad came home, but they asked me if I could visit them more so from that point on I’d sneak in after Mom and Dad went to bed to come see them. We’d sit on the floor and talk about just whatever. I’d tell them about school and about my friends. They’d tell me stories about the surface and the weird things humans had. I learned eventually why they were so scared and what happened to their leg just through talking to them like this. One night they told me they wanted to escape. They didn’t want to go home but they were scared

(new paragraph because limit) that Mom and Dad were gonna hurt them because they didn’t know them well enough to trust them yet. I tried to prove that it was safe here but they didn’t believe me. They ran away that night and I came with them. We took the ferry out to the ruins hid in a giant flower field outside of the city where there were holes in the cavern roof where we could see the sky. We stayed there for a couple days. Eventually a guard found us. She and several other guards were sent by Dad on a mission to find Chara and I while they both searched on their own on top of it. Chara was terrified of her and hid behind me with their knife out. I couldn’t fight that well at the time, but I told them that if I needed to I would to protect them. The guard tried to take us back and Chara grabbed my hand and ran, and we ran through the city and out to the ferry then down the riverbank to waterfall. We both collapsed in the marsh and just sat there for a few minutes to calm down. The whole time there were guards chasing after them but we managed to escape them through the tall grasses of the marsh. After a couple hours of just sitting there and trying to calm down I convinced them to go back to the capital. I told them I wouldn’t make them stay with us but at least we could tell them we were alive so they could call the search off. So we walked home. We walked around the large lake in waterfall where you can see the castle from and then stayed at the he edge of it for a little while. They were scared that if we went back, they’d be angry at them for running away and for taking me with them, so they hid there while I went back. I told Mom and Dad where Chara was, and they weren’t mad. I knew they wouldn’t be. Dad went out with Gaster and Mom stayed home with me. In a few hours they came back with Chara. They had a blanket wrapped around them that Dr. Gaster had taken with him and then Dad talked to Mom and then they moved their bed into my room. Chara and I sat in front of the fireplace with our parents and we talked about a lot. They talked about why they were scared and what they didn’t understand about the underground, and Mom and Dad calmed them down for a bit. When we went to bed that night Chara didn’t hide under their bed again, they said they felt better with me with them. They still hid for a bit, they wouldn’t come out of their room for a while but they didn’t hide from people when they came in. Eventually I asked them if they wanted to join me in some fighting training and that got them a bit more comfortable with leaving. They started talking to Dr. Gaster more and visiting his lab to see him. He started getting their help with his studies of humans cause they could answer questions he had that he couldn’t answer on his own. Eventually they started going to school with me, and they became friends with Nabstablook and MTT (who was still a ghost back then) and a couple other monsters. They seemed happier then ] : )
