HOW YOU GET THE GIRL - wanderer
Tumblr media
❝ and you know that i don’t want you to go. remind me how it used to be, pictures in frames of kisses on cheeks. ❞
summary: presenting
nahida’s foolproof and totally not subtle plan to get you and the wanderer together after endless pining!
warnings: contrary to the title the reader is gn, slight ooc(?)
notes: day 10! just got back from watching the eras movie and three hour long karaoke session so i’m a bit worn down but i decided to go along with this anyway cause i really wanted to work with this idea i had, plus i’m a sucker for my puppet boy. i hope this meets your expectations hehe

“presenting
nahida’s foolproof plan to get name!” the dendro archon announced, an unamused wanderer rolling his eyes at her while the aranara amongst the clapped with their stubby little arms.
“how do you even know that this will work?” he asked warily, suspicion edged in his sharp tone. it did nothing to the young goddess who shrugged it off, tapping her temple with a cheeky wink.
“you should trust me on this.” is all that she said, leaving the former harbinger to place his fate in her hands. with the help of her and the aranara, maybe he did have a chance to woo you and nudge the both of you out of the friendzone. even the archons knew how impossible it was for him to say that in front of you.
you were a member of the akademiya, practically a nobody in a literary school which had the pride of being the best of the best. you were mediocre in your field, helpful and kind. you were patient too. when nahida had first enrolled him in select courses held, you had offered to show him the ropes due to being in similar classes despite getting off on the wrong foot.
was that what had pulled him in? how normal you were, being what he had longed to be? he could be himself with you, never needing to keep up that standoffish attitude of his, but still not willing to open his newly acquired heart to you just yet in fear of betrayal. three times was enough for him, he mused as he stood outside the door to your home.
it was raining, pouring in fact. usually he would have shelter from his hat but for some reason, nahida had taken it into her safekeeping. he was a puppet too, he didn’t really understand why he had to act so
so
pitiful in a sorry state in front of you just to get you to like him.
“be vulnerable around name, that will show that when you are with them, you can let down your guard and be your truest self with them.” the archon had explained, ignoring the way that the aranara were using his hat as a boat in the water and sailing off into vanarana.
he murmured a curse, looking around to make sure that no one would see him like this. his eyes landed on an ahoge that stuck out from a pile of crates followed by the familiar chatter of aranaras. great, she was watching this whole humiliating exchange. was pursuing this feeling he thought he harboured towards you really worth it?
with a heavy heart, he knocked on your door, making a show of rubbing his arms like he was cold because of the rain though the only feeling his synthetic arms had were false goosebumps due to anticipation.
you opened your door to your shock to find a shivering wanderer with a frown on his face. it wasn’t uncommon to see him not smiling but this time his smile was different
was it an uncomfortable frown?
“are you insane? it’s raining what are you doing here?!” you whisper-shrieked, making a thought to lower your voice in respect for your neighbours. that only made him fall deeper into this black hole he was trying to claw his way out of, curse you and your thoughtfulness.
“it’s been a long day,” he grumbled, not meeting your eyes in embarrassment for resorting to such measures. he was the wanderer, the former sixth harbinger, kabukimono, practically a god. how was it that he was tripping over his own feet when you were in front of him? he hated it so much but at the same time, he wanted more of it. a small part of normalcy he had dreamed of when he was still a young naive puppet, something that he had longed for was now presented to him on a silver platter.
he was afraid though, not that he would admit it. afraid to tell you what he wanted. he wanted to have framed pictures of the both of you together, have kisses on cheeks, have cuddles and someone to confide in. he wanted you.
“i left you alone at the library, i skipped classes cause i was lazy to go,” is what comes out of his mouth, you merely raised your eyebrow.
“you
you’re standing in the heavy rain to tell me that you skipped classes cause you didn’t want to go
and that you were lazy to study so you didn’t show up today?” you repeat with a perplexed expression, making the wanderer and nahida facepalm internally at his mess-up.
“i must have lost my mind
” he mumbled to himself, taking a deep breath that he didn’t need and looking you in the eyes, recalling the words that the archon of wisdom had given him.
“i want you, whether it be for worse or better. i would wait forever and ever for you. if you ever broke your heart, i’ll put it back together. i think i like you, name.” he said with what looked like a pained expression. the silence was loud, so loud that you could almost hear mythical aranaras waddling around in the background of the pouring rain.
it seems her plan didn’t work as expected, and he had ruined whatever relationship he had hoped to have with you. what did he expect, trusting a god and a bunch of sumeru fairies in the affairs of mortals? looking at your starstruck face, he decided to pick himself up and walk away while he still could.
“it was a waste of time coming here, as expected.” he tried to save face, scoffing loudly and turning away from you, still drenched in the rain. that was until he felt a hand grab his arm softly, warmth flooding his hollow puppet shell at your gentle grip.
“wait, would you like to come in? you’re probably freezing and
yes, i think i like you too, wanderer.” you said quickly, giving him a genuine grin which caused him to hold back a smile and an uncharacteristic yell.
in the distance, he could hear the cheers of nahida and the aranara, though your mortal ears wouldn’t be able to pick it up. nahida was right, he begrudgingly admitted on how to get you.

SUBURBAN LEGENDS - furina
Tumblr media
❝ i am standing in a 1950s gymnasium and i can still see you now. ❞
summary: your relationship with the hydro archon would be warning to the audience that the divine and mortals don’t mix, that was if you had taken legends seriously
warnings: reader is gn, fontaine archon quest spoilers
notes: day 20, the second last day of the event! i wanted to write something furina related so i tried my hand at this one.

furina de fontaine had people who worshipped, idolised her and send her letters anonymously in your peripheral vision. but you let it slide like a hose on a slipper plastic summer and forgave her quickly for it.
it was tough being an archon you knew and to be the lover of the god of justice was an honor. she was so magnetic, it was almost obnoxious. flushed with the currency of cool that she exuded, wowing her audience all the time that you were always turning out your empty pockets when it came to her.
you didn’t come there to make friends after all, you both were born to be suburban legends. your romance was one that captured the essence of the nation’s love for drama and theatre, a beautiful and entrancing tragedy waiting to play out.
when she held you up, spinning and leading you into a quick jive under the shining spotlight, it was like she was holding you together. the way that she would kiss you in a way that it would mess you up forever, erase the potential love interests in the story of your life for she would be the only one for you.
you had the fantasy that maybe your mismatched star signs would wow the whole crowd. that different authority and standing in the society wouldn’t deter you two from being together. love conquered all, crossed boundaries and transcended time and space. it would do the same for you.
when you ended up back on stage playing the role of the archon’s lover, you reveled in their shock. walking in with your head high for the first time and furina’s hand in yours. she would be more than a chapter in your story that would have its pages ripped out. she would have a whole section dedicated to her. you’d have a grand finale and a heartwarming epilogue with her.
but you were now standing in the crowd of fontanians, hidden in plain sight as she entertained them with a grin and twirled like a ballerina on stage without any care of you. you knew that she’d still remember that you were both born to be national treasures, fontaine’s picture perfect couple. when she would one day tell you that you’d get back together or so you thought before disaster struck and she was revealed to be a hoax.
tick-tock on the clock, and now you paced down the block of her new apartment in the aftermath of the flood. did she pretend to be in love with you, in an attempt to fool the crowd into thinking that she was truly the hydro archon? that playing with your heartstrings would distract them from whatever her real agenda was? in fact you didn’t want to meet her, it was neuvillette who had given you her address and suggested you reconcile and give her a second chance.
furina couldn’t deny that part of your relationship was for show either but it was real, at least to her. she had been so accustomed to being the center of attention she had forgotten what it was like to live without it, to live normally without a care of what other would say. what you had was real, a small speck of light in the darkness she had suffocated in for five hundred years but you were too close to foiling her plans.
you had gotten too close to her, you knew she was hiding something that was eating her up. that it wasn’t the fame that came with being an archon, no matter how hard she tried to pass that lie off. another one more step and a whole plan devised for centuries would come crashing down so she pushed you away under the guise of finding you boring. she broke her own heart because you were too polite to do it for her.
you missed her, waves crashing on the shore that you go surfing at during her downtime, dashing to the door whenever you heard the familiar click-click of her heels and her laughter. but she didn’t knock anymore and your whole life was ruined.
she missed you too, the comfort you’d bring in the chaos and weight pushing her head under the waves of the relentless sea. she had broken her heart, passed it off as a mere falling out or that you two were too different to ever understand each other.
“she was a god, you were a mortal,” she had said dismissively and it broke her own heart to say those words knowing that they weren’t true. she knew you paced down her block, watch your figure from the window with a hopeful heart. but you didn’t knock anymore and she always knew it.
you both were born to be nothing more than a story, a legend, a warning to the audience. a mess behind the scenes but captivating the media and world into thinking you had a picture perfect relationship.
now both your lives were ruined, all because of some prophecy and a part she played in a musical much greater than the one depicting your romance.
that was until she heard soft knocking on her door one day that made her dash to the door and drop the box of uncooked macaroni in her hand.
you had learned from the botched script you both read from and now things would be different because you’d do a retake of this whole relationship, cut the bloopers out and try again.

YOU ARE IN LOVE - childe
Tumblr media

summary: you’ve never given thought to your relationship with your childhood friend with the harbinger, until it changes into something different

you’ve never been a stranger to his looks, able to read the boy you’ve grown up with your whole life like an open book. and this smile, hidden with so many emotions threatening to burst at the seams in this dark room you both were in, was only for your watchful eyes.
time always moved too fast when you were with him, the days that once dragged endlessly were not gone in a blink of an eye. you’d always play it back in your memory like rewinding a phonograph, skipping to your favourite part and reliving every moment all over again.
when he had came back from a long mission in liyue, buttoned and draped his coat jacket over your shivering body, apologised for taking so long to come back home to you. when he would make lighthearted jokes that were more misses than hits, see the way his lips would turn down slightly, frown turned upside down by a single kiss on the cheek. it wasn’t proof, not much of it but you saw enough.
he had always loved small talk and long walks in the winter wonderland of your homeland, the sneaky pranks he’d once pull by placing his freezing hands on your neck and make you shriek in shock. that was years ago, his cold hands had turned warm, his every touch warming you up quicker than any warmth a fire could offer.
when you would have coffee from fontaine, which he had specially imported for you at midnight, his strong arms around your waist and his bed-head snuggled in the crook of your neck as you made two steaming cups.
the moonlight reflected the chain on his neck, the necklace that you had gifted to him long ago, one with the sigil of a snowflake.
a snowflake that carried more meaning to the both of you, a snowflake that he had tried to gift you when you were kids. to him you were as pure as snow, beautiful and fragile in his gentle touch. and when he had murmured for you to look up and caused the both of your shoulders to brush. it wasn’t proof, not much of it but you felt enough.
when you woke up with him in the morning, the sunlight shining through the curtains. his once failed attempts at making you breakfast, laughing sheepishly as he held two pieces of burnt toast. you’d keep his shirt, a reminder of him when he had to leave for his duties carried him elsewhere and he’d keep his promise to always return to you.
and for once, childe could let go of his fears and ghosts when he was around you. the abyss, the fatui, the thrill of battle wearing him down like a soldier who had spent his whole life on the frontline. not with you, you were the home he looked forward to and he was the soldier you waited for to come back from the war. one small step for him, not much but it was enough.
when he would kiss you on the sidewalk after a long mission, twirl you in the air and you’d hold your breath to savour the moment as you drank him in like water thirstily. when the aftermath of a fight would linger heavily between you two till the point you’d both cave in and talk, for you couldn’t live without the other.
when he had woke up one night with a strange look on his face, the way he had paused and uncharacteristically stumbled over his words. your confused but amused smile at the realisation of how young the both of you were, young idiots in true love. he was never the eleventh of the fatui harbingers to you, he was ajax, your ajax always and forevermore.
“you’re my best friend,” he had said, pinching both your cheeks sleepily and shifting to hold onto you tighter. you knew what it was, being spooned in his embrace, he was in love.
and so it goes, it was like the both of you were dancing in a snow globe round and round. from when your short stubby legs would chase him around in the snow to waltzing with him in the middle of the night, the whole world asleep and only the two of you were awake. it was a whole collection of snow globes picturing the moments and growth of your relationship. from your first encounter, from when you had both become best friends, from when you had realised that you were in love.
when childe would miss you on the nights he had to spend without you, long torturous days where all his dreams were about feeling the ghost of your lips on him, your phantom fingers tracing his body in all the places you had memorised so long ago, your invisible touch causing him to buckle and fall to his knees. how he’d cope by taking out the picture he had of you in his pocket, in his office back at the fatui headquarters, your smile captured on film not as bright as the one he would come home too.
when he would come home to you injured and battle-scarred, your heartbeat on the high line as you watched this strong man you loved so flinch at your touch. only wanting you and only you to patch him up, kiss it all better, only you to see this side of him. and you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars. and why he’d spend his whole life trying to put into words, words that would describe how much you meant to him.
cause you could hear it in the silence, feel it on the way home with his arm linked in yours. you could see it with the lights out, the whole room shrouded in darkness except for him, who glowed and shined brighter than any star you’ve ever seen in the night sky.
that you are in love, true love.

WELCOME TO FONTAINE - aether

“paimon wants to try some yummy fontaine cuisine when we get there! ooh, maybe we can go sightseeing too!” the floating companion chirped, doing somersaults in the air alongside you and aether.
aether sighed in slight exasperation at her statement while you tried to stifle a laugh, your hand drifting to your mouth as you nodded at her words. “i’d love to eat some yummy fontaine food with you paimon. we just need to take the aquabus to the court of fontaine first.”
at the mention of eating ( and possibly free ) food, it seemed that paimon had suddenly been jolted, zooming towards the docking aqua bus. “yippee! what are you slowpokes waiting for?”
which left you and aether behind to pick up the pace, the tired blonde traveler shooting you a small smile which you tried to return though it didn’t meet your eyes. ever since you both had left mondstadt with venti’s blessings of finding the seven, it wasn’t that uncommon to find yourselves exhausted or worse for wear. especially since the battles you were facing ahead proved to be more perilous and tough than previous fights.
travelling to fontaine the nation of justice, you hoped that this cycle of laborious tasks would come to an end and you’d finally get some time to unwind. fontaine was the nation of justice
or love, some would like to say.
“i didn’t know that fontaine had a lot of people.” you murmur lowly, clinging to aether’s arm in an attempt to stay close to him. he shot up at your sudden touch, clearing his throat awkwardly before nodding. “maybe they’re just searching for something more.”
reaching the steps of the aquabus, he offered his hand to you, a sly smile on his face. “mon coeur?”
“i didn’t know you spoke fontainan.” you pouted, eyeing him warily as you took his hand gingerly. wandering the empty bus, your eyes drifted its interior to find paimon hounding the poor melusine conductor about fontaine’s delicacies.
“i don’t, i picked it up from lyney.” he shrugged nonchalantly, finding your annoyed expression amusing. you’re about to bite back a snarky reply until the bus started moving, causing the both of you to fall into each other’s arms, nearly toppling over the railing. perhaps the conductor was supposed to make an announcement before moving so suddenly
you were about to glare at the melusine but all you saw was paimon with a mischievous smirk on her face, one that could rival klee’s when she decided to go fish-blasting.
“you okay?” aether’s voice rung out which brought you back to reality, slightly crackly and squeaky, the kind when he was nervous or flustered. you turn your head back to him only to realise that you’re both so close that you could feel your breath on each other’s cheeks, your palm over his quickly rising and falling chest. the second hand embarrassment crept into your face as you recoiled almost instantly from him, the both of you trying to act as if nothing happened.
“hey look, it’s the court of fontaine!” paimon chirped out excitedly, thankfully breaking the awkward silence between the both of you with her hollering.
you’d heard how beautiful the city of fontaine was. how the sunlight hit the opera epiclese, the overall whimsical atmosphere that felt like you were living through a steampunk novel, the smell of morning dew on fresh rainbow roses. but nothing could compare to how ethereal he looked in front of it all.
the way aether’s face contorted to awe and disbelief, a genuine grin that you’d miss seeing after so long blooming on his face at the sight of the city. the dazzling lights were bright, like shimmering stars dancing across the night sky but they never blinded you.
half-dazed walking down the aquabus, all you could see was his smile etched in your memory like a stained glass painting. an mesmerising and majestic piece of art, the kind that people used to worship archons with.
“name!” aether called out to you from across the fountain of lucine, eyes twinkling with childlike excitement. trying to compose yourself from the internal screeching in your head, you couldn’t help but be curious and slightly apprehensive of what he wanted from you. paimon was no where in sight
how odd.
the sounds of fontaine were beautiful. a scene out of a ballet piece, like living straight out of an opera. your eyes widened as you followed aether’s gaze to the streams of water from the water fountain, completely in sync with the background music. it was a new soundtrack and you could just dance to the beat, the rhythm that intertwined with your soul.
it was like he read your mind, the blonde traveler grinning as he bowed to you in the empty plaza, a gloved palm outstretched in front of you. “may i have this dance?”
you tried to calm your rising nerves, taking his hand with a nervous beam. though his hands were on your waist, it felt like he held your beating heart in his hands, not that he knew off.
was this what love felt like? something that kept you second guessing yourself in fear of making a bad decision? something that would never change no matter how long you’ve known him, that same feeling of crystalflies in your stomach despite the fact that you’ve been travelling together for quite some time? something that drove you crazy, not sure whether you were going mad, a disease with symptoms that caused you to only think of aether? but you knew that you wouldn’t change anything.
maybe one day you’d muster the courage to tell him how much you felt but now you’d indulge yourself in this feeling of being in his arms, dancing to the soundtrack of this foreign city.

BAD BLOOD - alhaitham
Tumblr media
❝ band-aids don’t fix bulletholes, you say sorry just for show. if you live like that, you live with ghosts. ❞
summary: arguments with your rival, the scribe, are common but this time, he takes it a little too far when his words hit close to home
warnings: reader is gn, reader and alhaitham are rivals
notes: day 8! struggled a lot because i can’t write alhaitham for some reason so i tried my best. some references are from the bad blood remix cause i prefer that to the og song

“and then he called my work sloppy! like, i’m the best in the akademiya! if you think you can find someone else who can do star mapping from memory, then be my guest!”
kaveh sighed at the way you were so upset over a dispute had gotten into, nursing his cup of wine. was it worth getting worked up over? maybe not but what made it worse was who you had said that to you.
“mhm, and who said this to you? crackpot old fools that archons know how long have been working in the archives. they probably don’t have enough melanin after spending more than half their lifespans kissing books,” he mumbled under his breath, taking a swig of wine.
“it was alhaitham!” you pointed at him with indignation. it was sort of comical to see the way his face contorted and how he choked on his wine, struggling to gulp it down by patting at his chest.
“why didn’t you say so sooner?!” he threw his hands up in the air, a stark contrast from the way he had dismissed your complaints. his hatred and rivalry towards alhaitham was unrivalled, maybe except to you. he knew the bad blood you had to him, though you both weren’t sure whether alhaitham harboured any to you.
ever since your schooling years in the akademiya, you had butted heads constantly, competing for the highest score in exams and winning favor of teachers. sadly, this had meant that you were both acknowledged to be the cream of the crop. you were both on a higher level than other students which meant that you were constantly paired for projects, to complement each other’s intelligence.
it had been okay at the start, speaking only when necessary, offering small snippets of suggestions here and there. but it eventually turned to something more when you started to hang out under the pretence of projects you had to do even though they had been long completed long ago. going on study dates, events hosted at the grand bazaar, stargazing. you both enjoyed each other’s company that was for sure, but your pride got in the way of expressing your feelings.
perhaps you could say it was a battle, a battle to see who would cave first and confess to the other and your competitive spirits were the what kept you both from pursuing something more. you had a deep admiration towards him, a feeling that you couldn’t describe and you know he had it too. but instead, it felt like he was rubbing salt in your wound and laughing right at you for deciding to engage in this battle of who could go the longest.
you were going to lose first, that was until an argument that you had both gotten into during your final year. you had messed up the major calculations for mapping by mistaking the vertical for the horizontal axis and had drawn on the map from the wrong side which causing you to mix the polar axis too. funny, how a single argument landed you both right here in this never ending cycle of insults and regrets, what caused bad blood between you both.
he hadn’t been understanding like most, geography was one of your weaker subjects and you still had about a week and a half to the deadline. his words were sharp like a knife, leaving scars in your back. usually he would throw insults your way and you’d brush them off, thinking that it was a part of his personality but in truth it did hurt you with pain ranging from papercuts to cat scratches but this time, it was multiple stabs in your back.
“maybe that’s what’s wrong with your life? you’re meant to be second-best, no in-between. after all, could you expect more of someone from your background?” he had said monotonously, though you felt the fury underlying in his tone. when you had gasped and shrunk back from him, did he realise his mistake. reaching out to you with a small frown but you slapped his hand away.
“i’m sorry, i’ll just
redo the whole project.” you had struggled to speak, grabbing the strewn papers on the desk and dashing out the library doors despite his calls for you to come back.
the tears that had threatened to brim in your eyes spilt, blurring your eyesight as you ran aimlessly to nowhere, clutching the blueprints with his handwriting elegantly written on. what was shiny, now all rusted from the blood you spilt that had gone cold.
were you overreacting? maybe. should you have done the project by staying up nights to get a perfect grade, presented it to the class by yourself while avoiding alhaitham entirely? probably not. years later, those kind of wounds were the ones that lasted and lasted.
the both of you had problems and you think you couldn’t solve them. he had mumbled a halfhearted sorry afterwards, though you knew that was just for show, he had practically lived with ghosts until kaveh started to room with him. you had forgiven and forgotten about the way he had made you feel, but you would never let it go.
kaveh watched you finish the cup of wine in one swallow, a bit hesitant to speak his mind when you were in a sorry state as his eyes looked to something in the distance. “i think
i’ll go get us some more wine.”
you merely nodded in thanks, grabbing the half finished bottle on the table and peering into its interior boredly. it was sad, to think about the good times he and you had. but when you looked up, it’s not the architect but alhaitham himself in the seat opposite you with an awkward frown.
“can we talk?”

“SLUT!” - wriothesley
Tumblr media
❝ handprints in wet cement, adorned with smoke on my clothes. lovelorn and nobody knows, love thorns all over this rose. ❞
summary: in which you’d be the target of your romance with the duke, bear the burden of your relationship
warnings: reader is gn, slut shaming, contrary to the title this is totally sfw!
notes: day 17 and first day of the vault tracks! this was the easiest of the vault tracks to write tbh haha, i hope you like it!
taglist (open): @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff , @inscaraithrust
Tumblr media
flamingo pink, was the color of your cheeks whenever you touched wriothesley. sunrise boulevard was where you would dream of escaping to one day though his duties as the duke forbade him from leaving the fortress of meropide for extended periods of time. but for you he would indulge in all your desires.
being this young was a form of art, you were clear and pure like the aquamarine waters of fontaine. what if all he needed was you and all you needed was him?
and so you got love-struck by him. people describe cupid as shooting the heart by cupid shot you in the head, removing all ability for you to think about anything else but him. you’d get lovesick all over your bed, staring at your ceiling for hours and hours at end thinking about wriothesley.
you’d love to think that he would never forget you, forget you, his partner, that he had held his hand out for. your handprints in wet cement that would forever be engraved and stay with him forever, leaving your sign that he could not erase. you were lovelorn, the rose that symbolised you had love thorns to defend yourself but what you didn’t expect was what you had to fight against.
that you’d pay the price of being a target of slut-shaming, and yet wriothesley was not subjected to the same fate as you. they might have been looking at you both but the daggers were aimed at your forehead, your every move, your every word, your fashion style, your life.
and when it was all to much for you to handle, all you had was to murmur a simple code word and he’d wait for you with his muscular arms open. the sticks and stones that people would throw at you would freeze mid-air when you were shielded in his embrace, hidden away from the rest of the world.
everybody wanted wriothesley, that was your crime if you had to be judged by the oratrice mechanique d’analyse cardinale. they were jealous of you, jealous of how you had scored him effortlessly. you were there at the wrong place but right time and right person, or so you thought. and you’d break down behind doors and he’s pull you in because in a world full of boys, he was your gentleman.
you were paying a price for this which added to your laments. you endured this shaming, labeling with him who you were so smitten with.
half-asleep and taking your time in the comfort of his presence, the tangerine lights illuminating your bodies was a secret luxury you rarely got. yet he didn’t say that he was in love with you, but he was going to, you knew it. half-awake, he’d take this chance to but you knew this was a big mistake.
“it might blow up in your pretty face,” you had said, tracing the scars on his arms and back gently. you weren’t saying that he had to do it anyway, but he was going to after all.
even though he weathered the barbs with you, he still wasn’t giving you the love you wanted even though you were the one who was being criticized by the relationship. you had to manoeuvre the social labels and expectations that you get out on your shoulders. you were living your best life as all young people do and had to experience slut shaming for simply being young and in love with wriothesley.
and if they called you a slut, you knew it might have been worth it for once. for you were drunk, drunk in love.

SAY DON’T GO - xiao
Tumblr media
❝ why’d you whisper in the dark just to leave me in the night? now your silence has me screamin’, screamin’. ❞
summary: the vigilant yaksha would have stayed forever if you had told him to stay, but you were long gone now
warnings: reader is gn, reader is an adepti, angst, major character death, hurt/no comfort, mentions of archon war
notes: day 18 and this was the hardest by far to do since so many characters i had an idea for had already been written. i hope this isn’t bad cause i’m actually feeling under the weather and not so good about how this turned out.
taglist (open): @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff , @inscaraithrust
Tumblr media
you’ve known it from the very start, how bad of an idea it was to date a fellow member of the adepti. the yakshas were the best of you all, the strongest and the fiercest. to die by the side of one was an honour, not to you. why would you want to die in a battle that wasn’t even yours? but you stayed, you would stay forever for him and only him, fight for him and only him, live for him and only him.
you were a shot in the darkest dark, a bright blue spark of flame illuminating the darkness before being extinguished in an instant. and what was worst was that xiao had been unarmed, prepared for every battle he could ever fight but never for the battle of the heart.
waiting, waiting for this war to be over, to be just with him was a sadness and he was fading into madness overtime. the battlefield was littered with the bodies of his friends, his comrades and he could feel himself succumb to this karmic debt that his yaksha brethren were falling into.
but it just wouldn’t stop, standing on a tightrope alone and holding your breath in fear of falling, terrified of losing your hold of his hand. you weren’t sure what you were scared of more, death or losing him. was it that wrong for an adepti to dream of a life they could never have? to live together with xiao in blissful immortality, away from the war? now faced with death, it seems you were scared with both.
you had been pacing on shaky ground, fighting and arguing with him to let you come to this battle, not knowing about the karmic debt that had been brewing in the crevice of his chest. you had struck a match in him and he’d blow it out usually, but not this time.
it wasn’t fair, how he would subject himself to fighting alone when you’d be stronger together. you may not have been strong as him, as experienced nor powerful but that didn’t mean you were defenceless and worthless. xiao couldn’t say why he refused to let you fight, resolved to staring speechless at your face for everytime he saw you, he feared that this would be your last encounter.
when he kissed you, it stopped time, your well-thought out debate on why you should go now thrown out the window. he was yours, but you weren’t his, that he knew of. he would do anything if it meant that you would be safe, leaving you behind to wait for him forever even though it was selfish of him too. hide the cards he held in close to his chest, the cards he wouldn’t show no matter how hard you tried to look at them. you were about to fold unless he told you to say don’t go, that was all he needed to say. three words but with so much meaning. so you went against his pleas and wishes, barging out of your sanctuary and into the fire.
but it all changed when you were halfway out the door of immortality, and he held hope for you to not to go. perhaps you would have stayed forever if those words had left his mouth, but there was silence in the air. the cries and sounds of war now nothing but a buzzing noise in the back of his head as he cradled you in his arms, whispering promises for you to keep your heavy-lidded eyes open.
“why’d you have to lead me on? why’d you have to twist the knife, walk away and leave me bleeding?” he wanted to scream, his fingernails digging into your shoulders. the fear and karmic debt bubbling hot and threatening to scald him inside out.
why’d you whisper in the dark, of dreams and a life full of hope that you would both live once the war was over? why did you do that, just to leave him in the dark alone, searching all of eternity for you? now your silence had left him screaming for you to come back, to come back to him because he promised that this time he’d protect you, come back to him because this time he’d love you tenfold. how could you make a promise of a better life to someone gone? how could he live a life you had described and imagined so vividly after the war without you?
why did you have to make him want you so badly, want a foolish dream that he wasn’t supposed to have for his loyalty was to morax and not you? why did you have to give him nothing back at all, take his heart that he had bared to you but disappear before you were to give him yours, leaving him empty and hollow with nothing but karmic debt?
why did you have to make him love you like those mundane romance novels you’d once tell him about, dance under the stars together and leave him with this feeling he couldn’t describe? this feeling of capturing crystalflies, this feeling of singing to glaze lilies, this feeling which tore him away from all the horrors of war and make him feel normal for just a moment when he looked at you.
“i love you,” is what he managed to whisper, his voice shaky and desperate for you to say anything back, but you say nothing back.
xiao would have stayed forever if you would have said ‘don’t go’, but you wouldn’t have because you were gone.

CLEAN - ayato
Tumblr media
❝ there was nothing left to do when the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room. ❞
summary: the rain would wash away the tears and every trace left from your relationship with the yashiro commissioner
warnings: reader is gn, hurt/slight comfort, reader was in a toxic relationship with ayato, takes place after their breakup
notes: day 13 and another one of my personal favourites! i interpreted this a little differently once i thought over what the lyrics tried to convey so i ended up writing this! idk why i think this feels shorter than the previous ones oh well
taglist (open): @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff , @inscaraithrust
Tumblr media
the drought was the very first, when the flowers that you grown together died of thirst. flowers that had relied on your tears for them to blossom, feeding on your heart that you broke over and over again to ensure their growth. people saw them for their beauty but you saw them as a reminder of the toll it had taken to cultivate them.
ayato was a dream, a fever dream that you couldn’t decide whether or not had brought you joy or suffering. dating the commissioner hadn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, was the hydro vision he had because he could make you cry every single time? over him, over the weight his position had carried over onto you, over your breaking relationship that you had struggled to hold onto?
you felt neglected constantly, he was so busy that you’d go on days without hearing anything from him. when he’d come back, he’d pretend that nothing happened. it was like you were just playing a dysfunctional role as ayato’s partner just for show. he’d come to when he needed you but was never there for you. he was like a wine-stained shirt you couldn’t wear anymore, he had changed you to the point you had lost yourself, forgotten who you were before him.
you’d think that a breakup would release all these chains tying you down to the sea floor but it was so, so much worse because all you thought about was him. you hung your head as you lost the war and the sky turned black like a perfect storm, a mirror of your emotions.
as much as you tried to convince yourself it was love, as much as you tried to convince yourself that you couldn’t live without him, you weren’t so easily fooled. ayato could move on and he had seemed fine when you had an unfortunate encounter. was it because he had been conditioned to put on a facade or was it because you truly had meant nothing to him, perhaps it was because he had left more of a skin deep mark on you than you had left on him. he had touched your soul while you had merely touched his skin.
so why couldn’t you? why had you given a pained smile, hold back the flood of emotions that were rising like tsunami tides? did ayato know about this? is that what he had planned all along? for you to never move on for him and come back running to him?
wandering around with your watering eyes there was nothing left to do you had realised, when the butterflies he had once caused to flutter in your stomach turned to dust. the butterflies and hearts that you could picture and envision so clearly in your mind when you looked at him were gone with nothing, the only reminders of them were the tears you shed. so you had pictured punching a hole in your roof, punching all these emotions away.
not that it helped though, and when you tried to imagine a flood carrying all those pictures of ayato you had, it swept you away into its embrace too. you were in every picture you had of him, every memory, every dream and every wish. the water filled your lungs and you could hear yourself scream so loud, a piercing shriek but no one would hear a thing. you were battling with yourself, willing every inch of your body to let him go. it was all in your head, nothing any healer could cure.
it wasn’t love you had felt towards him, your friends had murmured as you wept for days at end. it was an addiction. you were addicted to ayato like he was a personal brand of drug catered specifically for your consumption. even now ten months sober, some part of you admitted that you missed him. now ten months older, you wouldn’t give up because when you’d be clean, you’d never risk falling into this cycle of hurt ever again.
all it took was to step out into the storm, feel the cold air breeze through your skin and drench your soul, wash every mark he had left from you and clean the wounds that scarred you. a simple but effective approach as you poured your heart out like how the rain poured from the clouds in the stormy sky. getting everything off your chest was the way to go though it meant you had to undo all the fragile stitches holding you together. you’d piece yourself back together overtime and be the person you were before him, you knew of it for the rain left you feeling refreshed and anew.
when the rain poured down on you, mixing with your tears that held memories of ayato and you, did you finally feel like you could breathe once again. after so long being locked away from the world you had closed your heart to, now the experience of feeling water hit your skin was a sort of relief, proof that you were healing. only by submitting and drowning could you finally breathe, gasping for fresh air that you had gone without for so long.
by morning, every trace of him was gone and you were finally clean.

THIS LOVE - diluc
Tumblr media
❝ tossing, turning, struggled through the night with someone new. baby, i could go on and on, on and on. ❞
summary: the dark-knight hero has always been known to keep a distance but he always ends up right by your side
warnings: reader is gn, slightly angsty(?), diluc backstory spoilers
notes: day 11! i can’t write diluc for the life of me so i took a rather different approach to this and focused on making it more poetic than dialogue based. i hope you like it!
taglist (open): @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @rintosae , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff
Tumblr media
you remembered it like yesterday. the days like a blurred memory, gold tinted around its edges and the background noise like faded static.
loving diluc had been like clear blue waters of the ocean, the high tide of waves bringing the both of you together with such ferocity that you collided against one another. a love that was fragile but powerful at the same time, so pure that you found yourself emerging fresh and new every single time.
you had fallen for him when you were just kids, when he had picked up a dandelion by the gates of mondstadt’s heart during the windblume festival, embarrassed and whispering for you to make a wish. for he had been all you ever wished for, you realised as you clasped the flower in your hands, watching its seeds fly off into the breeze.
was that what love was supposed to feel like? restless and free, with ups and downs but something true that you’d know by heart? for this love had left a permanent mark on you, like his name had been tattooed on your skin for you to trace the words when you missed him. for this love glowed in the dark, never leaving the both of you in the darkness as you were each other’s light. or so you thought as time decided that this love would be put to the test.
he couldn’t have attachments, that was what diluc realised after his father had passed, the fear pushing his heart to beat faster. what if he had to lose you all because of him? he couldn’t live with your blood tainting his hands, embedded deep in his fingernails that he couldn’t scrub off. staining his hands forever and ever for he could never bear to wash away the last remaining mark you had left on him.
so, the skies grew darker and the currents swept him out like how they had brought him into your life. and he was gone, leaving you behind for your own protection. in silent screams, in wildest dreams, you never would have dreamed of this ever happening. that he would think that by breaking your heart, you would be safe, though you didn’t know how it killed him inside. your heart may have broken but his had shattered.
moving on had been hard, you both would be lying to yourself if you said that you didn’t think of the other. he was in every dandelion your eyes landed on to the point you kept some on your window-still, so that you would always wake up to the sun shining down on him. you were in the ocean waves he would always make sure to patrol by at night, the moonlight illuminating the water just as bright as your grin.
you would see him in dreams disguised as nightmares, feel his lips graze your cheek ever so slightly before he vanished into thin air. his smile a ghost, a figment of your imagination you would soon come to terms with as you fell to your knees and awoke in a cold sweat. feel nothing but the cracking of your newly-healed heart and the tears rolling down your cheeks that he would have once wiped away.
it had driven you mad, for this love was like the lanterns in the candelabras back at dawn winery. its light flickered for him and only him but he was still gone. and just when your grip on the last thing you ever owned was faltering, moments away from sinking into the depths of the ocean like a ship, he showed up just in time. and when you both looked at each other in the eye after so long, it all came down crashing.
it was the sudden ache in diluc’s chest, the inner voice and sleepless nights that had called out to him. all he ever wanted was to hear his name roll of your tongue, wanted for you to be the rock in his stormy sea, wanted for you to always be by his side. he had loved you when you were kids, he had loved you when you were teens and he would love you even if you were oceans apart. when you’re young, you always run whether it be from your problems or for an escape, and he had run away from you. but he would always come back to what he needed. and he needed you like how you needed him.
it was like the ocean you had always been mesmerised by ever since you were young. no matter how hard the waves receded, he would always come back to you and you would do the same.
this love was good for it was the sun shining down on you after you braved through the storm. this love was bad for it was like being swept out to sea, the waves pushing you down repeatedly, begging for you to drown. but this love that you had both tried to forget, tried to move on from, was now alive back from the dead and had brought you back together.
his hands had to let you go free but this love would always come back to him.

IS IT OVER NOW? - kaeya
Tumblr media
❝ when you lost control, red blood, white snow. blue dress on a boat, your new girl is my clone. ❞
summary: despite having been broken up with the cavalry captain in ages, your relationship still didn’t feel like it was over
warnings: reader is gn, reader and kaeya are broken-up
notes: day 21 and with that this is my last entry for the 1989 event! thank goodness, i’m free now HAHAHA. its been a blast honestly and this was a fitting end for my event, thanks for sticking with me for the ride:)
taglist: @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff , @inscaraithrust , @yuellii
Tumblr media
once the wind had blown your wind glider into the air with the wilting of the roses that you kept on your nightstand, you slept all alone but kaeya still wouldn’t go.
he was everywhere you would be, a ghost haunting your every move and breath even in dreams, ironic since people referred to dreams as an escape from reality. fast forward to 300 takeout coffees later, you’d still see his profile and cocky smirk on unsuspecting waiters. no matter how many times you’d convince yourself, shut your eyes and count to ten, the illusion of him before you still wouldn’t go.
and kaeya would dream of your mouth, his lips about to brush yours before you push him away. the whispers of your voice growing louder and louder, calling him a lying traitor till he would wake in the middle of the night. he’d search in every maiden’s bed for something greater, something better but all they ever were was a crude replacement that couldn’t even compare to you.
it had ended when he had lost control during a reconnaissance mission near the border of dragonspine, the wine he had split was red like blood on the white snow. when everything that you had ever denied came burrowing out of the surface of snow and he in a moment of drunkenness, had decided that it was over.
did kaeya think that you didn’t see him in the flashing lights like warning sirens? though they were a myriad of colors, red stood out the most like a stark reminder of where this would lead you.
at least now you had the decency to keep your nights out of sight, struggling to jump headfirst into a new relationship with the idea that love was just and true. the only rumors that would reach him about your hips and thighs, your whispered sighs couldn’t compare to what you heard of him, moving on to new people like changing shirts every day.
sometimes you’d think, no dream, about jumping off of very tall somethings just to see him come running to you. looking down at the edge of the starsnatch cliff, feel the wind that brought about the blessings of the anemo archon be halted by his hand on your wrist. a heavy silence between you both and have it broken by kaeya saying the one thing you’ve been wanting, but no.
fast forwarding to three hundred blind dates later, you’d catch glimpses of his new partners whenever he’d go out under the guise of being with someone new you show that he’d gotten over you. if they looked like you, acted like you, laughed at his jokes like you did, you’d surmise that he’d probably date them.
“come here,” you’d whisper in his ear in his dream as he passed out because even when you weren’t together, he was still thinking of you. even despite breaking up, being with other people, time has passed since you both had said anything, it isn’t over.
kaeya was used to a certain kind of intimacy, from a certain person and that was you. when he swapped between people, he felt off and uncomfortable being without you. your kisses, your touch, your love was something no one could ever match and replace. it was pure, unfiltered longing that he felt, that he wanted you so much to the point he dreamt of you, got together with people that were similar but not you.
standing at the edge of starsnatch cliff of starfell valley, the very spot that you’d once sit to stare at the stars with him, you couldn’t help but think of kaeya with you by your side. his hand on top of yours, head on your shoulder, your heart in his hands. with these fantasies, you’d hope that he’d reappear and be there to say the one thing you’ve been wanting but no.
cause how could this relationship ever be over if you both missed each other that much?

WONDERLAND - lyney
Tumblr media
❝ didn’t it all seem new and exciting, i felt your arms twisting around me. it’s all fun and games till somebody loses their mind. ❞
summary: in which you and a certain mad hatter build a wonderland together only for the both of you
warnings: reader is gn, none
notes: day 14 but i’m a day late oops sorry, had a tough night yesterday! i hope you like this one:)
taglist (open): @staretes , @rynnlvrs , @sentifua , @i-probably-sleep-too-much , @reilly34 , @qqingque , @akutasoda , @mhiieee , @starryshinyskies , @kazemiya , @pix-stuff , @inscaraithrust
Tumblr media
how would one describe love, you had asked yourself that question many times. perhaps it was when you locked eyes with a certain magician during one of his famed shows, both of you holding bated breath at first sight. flashing lights had danced across your vision, you had mistaken the sirens as shooting stars that had granted your wish.
that was how you both fell down the rabbit hole of a whirlwind romance, love that you convinced yourself to be worth the adrenaline and excitement. lyney had held on tight to you as nothing was as it seemed, the both of you spinning out of control when you were in each other’s embrace and space.
“don’t rush into things,” lynette had said to him countless times that he had lost track. when confronted by you due to his sister’s hesitant acceptance to this relationship you had, he flashed his violet eyes at you.
“haven’t you heard what becomes of curious minds?” he had whispered into your ear, sending ripples of vibrations down your whole being, his slender fingers tilting your chin to look at him.
it was all new and exciting, the way his body moved with yours, the feeling of his arms twisting around you as the world dissolved into chaos around the both of you. but you were too stubborn, too naive to think about what you were doing to each other. you should’ve slept with one open at night you mused, the wonderland you both crafted eventually losing its color.
so you both went on your way, too in love to think straight and never really giving a thought to what you both had gotten yourselves into. it would’ve been okay if you were alone in this made-up world that you had conjured, from mad hatters to dancing posies. that was until the paint started to dry and melt under the hot sun, shattering the illusion and throwing you face first into the reality you had tried to run away from.
the occasional whispers had turned to subtle talking and the talking had turned to screams upon the sight of you both. fame was something lyney couldn’t run away from and by dating him, he had caused the same fate to befall you.
“don’t rush into things” was what clorinde had sighed, shaking her head in exasperation at the hearts in your eyes whenever you saw lyney. the flash of his eyes, violet like padisarahs and his cheshire cat smile could always calm you down, dispel any doubts you had harboured secretly.
but he knew, and he shared that feeling. the difference was that he was a skilled magician with a stage face and you weren’t. cause it was all fun and games until somebody loses their mind, the whole world whirling quicker and quicker till you lost your grip on him.
when the effects of the hallucinogen had dissipated, you had reached for him but he was gone. you knew you had to go back home, to who you were before him but you couldn’t live in this world you had detached yourself from. the dream world, the wonderland you had both crafted was now your home, your home with him.
he had played various people with his skills but you had tricked this great magician into staying forever with you in this imaginary world. and when you both had tried to stop yourselves, built walls between the two of you, you were bound to tumble and fall down that rabbit hole once more.
even when you searched the world for something else to make you feel like what you both had, in the end in wonderland, you both went mad. whether it be mad in love or mad in this euphoric feeling you experienced when you were together.
because the both of you had found wonderland and you had gotten lost in it. built and painted a whole world, a dynasty with your bare hands. a world that was only meant for the two of you and pretended that it could last forever.
a wonderland that you were lost in like an inescapable maze, one where life was never worse but never better.

NOW THAT WE DON’T TALK - alhaitham
Tumblr media
❝ you grew your hair long, you got new icons and from the outside, it looks like you’re trying lives on. ❞
summary: the ways that you avoided him would prove to be fruitless, because you both needed to talk
warnings: reader is gn, this is part 2 of bad blood
notes: day 19! tbh, my brain juices are all dried up cause i’m not sure how i managed to last this long HAHA so i decided to continue the original idea i had for alhaitham using this song! this is a part 2 to bad blood btw, so check it out first for more context!

Tumblr media
“can we talk?”
his words replayed on loop, your shocking and unexpected encounter with him while you were waiting for kaveh. you hadn’t been so willing, making up an excuse to find the architect, grabbing merak from under the table and dashing to find your friend.
what was so odd was that no matter where you had fled too, alhaitham always seemed to be there. was he stalking you or something, you had ranted to a sympathetic kaveh.
you heard that he had went to a party held by the akademiya celebrating a recent breakthrough the kshahrewar had made and he had parted the crowd like the desert. you wondered whether he had felt anxious on the way home for someone who preferred to read alone with his earbuds in, making a surprise experience that must have been the highlight of that night.
the akademiya’s closed-off scribe, partying away
or being a wallflower the whole night. you guess that you would never know, now that you both don’t talk.
he was different from when he had confronted you at the bar as the days had passed, different than the alhaitham you had known. rivals to enemies to strangers, an odd trope that you bet the yae publishing house couldn’t even think of.
you missed the old ways, clashing with one another though you both probably didn’t mean the harsh words you both said, downplaying your feelings and treating it like a game to see who would fold first. now there was nothing left but bitterness, unspoken words and
longing?
“it was for the best,” candace had said to you with a small, comforting smile over tea. she was right, you had to remind yourself that the more you had given him previously, he would have wanted you less. he probably only wanted to reconcile to ease his consciousness. you couldn’t be his lover, let alone his friend and this was the price what you had lost and its cost, now that you both don’t talk.
what did he tell his friends (if he had any), his friends that you had once spent time with long ago, friends you had shared dinners and weekends with? to tell the blunt, honest truth, you couldn’t pretend that the feelings you had to him were platonic. they were sour of course but sweet at the same time, like green grapes.
candace wasn’t surprised when you told her of your dilemmas, clicking her tongue sympathetically at your situation. “just get it off your chest,” she had advised. you had to remind yourself the way he faded away till you had left. that you couldn’t have been friends at all, so you had to pay the price of what you had lost and the cost, now that you both don’t talk.
and you didn’t have to pretend that you liked acid rocks that would burn you repeatedly, his words leaving angry blisters all over your smooth skin. you didn’t have to pretend that you liked to be with important people with important thoughts but no self-awareness or compassion towards anyone else. guess that maybe you were better off now that you both don’t talk.
the only way for you to save face and regain back your dignity after being torn into shreds by him, was to turn into a shrouded mystery like you had been back in the early days at the akademiya. guess that this was how it had to be now that you both don’t talk.
or so you thought when he had lost the battle you had been playing for long years, when he had uncharacteristically begged you to listen to him in his own way, when he had said that he missed you. the sourness of pent up feelings over him now sweet like ripe grapes, still there but not totally gone. it was a small step for you but to him was a victory.
this time you would finally be able to say more than what you previously did, say the words that you both had wanted to say back when you were both rival students butting heads.
it seemed that now you both did talk.

I WISH YOU WOULD - navia
Tumblr media
❝ two a.m., here we are. see your face, hear my voice in the dark. ❞
summary: after a misunderstanding with your best friend, the head of spina de rosula, you both realise that you rather have constant quarrels than be apart
warnings: reader is gn, arguments, implied crush on navia
notes: day 7! whoa i feel like i just started this event yesterday haha, with fontaine’s archon quest coming to a close tomorrow, let’s see how the canon story progresses and if i can incorporate it into my event;)

tick tick tick. its two am now the clock whispered to you, the hand pointing at the bolder number engraved in its metal circle. was it normal to be kept up by such thoughts running circles in your head, like leaving a gramophone on loop to play the same songs over and over again in an endless cycle? thoughts at two in the morning are normal, that’s what navia liked to say.
you stifled a groan, hiding your face under your cushion, taking a deep breath and willing yourself to clear your mind off all distractions. headlights of a patrolling gardemek passed the windowpane, and all you could think of was navia and what you had said to her last.
you both had a quarrel the other day over the missing persons case, she had been upset at you for not supporting her but you had been upset at her for not being more careful and reckless. she was your best friend after all but she drove you mad, always knowing how to push your buttons.
she was headstrong after all, one of the qualities you loved about her
not that you could tell it to her face anyway. to be honest lying down and staring at the ceiling, wishing for what ifs and what nots wasn’t doing you any good you soon realised.
the good thing about fontaine was that it was safe to roam around at night with gardemeks at every turn. it was the nation of justice after all, who was in the right mind to do illegal activities when a judgement from the oratrice mechanique d’analyse cardinale could be more severe than a death sentence.
walking down the streets you used to roam with navia, you couldn’t help but reminisce the times you had spent with her. you missed her too much that you weren’t mad anymore at this point. you wished that you could both go back and remember what the both of you fought for.
you grumbled, shaking your head frantically and slapping both your cheeks. “get a grip on yourself name! you need to stop thinking of her! it’s not like she’s going to pop out of thin air-“
“name?” a voice that you could recognise from anywhere calls out to you from across the empty court. you froze instantaneously, willing yourself to move faster away from her but you were rooted to the spot. you turned to face a hopeful navia, alone without her bodyguards for once.
clearing your throat, you nodded at her with what you hoped was a blank stare
that was until you realised that you were grinning like an idiot in love. curse this stupid feelings which betrayed you so, especially when you depended on them the most.
“i’m sorry!” is what comes out both your mouths at the same time, the awkward tension between you breaking after the words take a moment to sink in. your shoulders relax ever so slightly as navia moved closer to you, what looks like regret laced in her usual features.
the both of you were a crooked love in a straight line down. weird cause that would naturally want to make you run and hide but then again, it made the both of you turn back right around.
best friend or no, argument or no, one thing was for sure that nothing could ever separate the both of you. you had wished that she was right here, wished that it was all good and celestia had heard your prayer.
now you had to make sure you wouldn’t make the smart mistake of letting her go again, wishing that she knew that you would never forget her as long as you lived.

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAY - ei
Tumblr media
❝ here you are now calling me up but i don’t know what to say. ❞
summary: even though you’ve been pushed away multiple times, you’re not backing down from getting the archon to open up to you
warnings: reader is gn, inazuma archon quest spoilers, raiden archon quest spoilers, slight hurt/comfort
notes: day 5 and a break from the angst finally! sorry this was supposed to be posted yesterday but something came up!

“name.” not even a nickname, not even love, not even a greetings.
“almighty shogun.” not ei, not beloved, not even a hello back.
there’s a sort of heaviness in the air you breathed, you can smell the scent of petrichor though the sky was clear. but then again, the unorthodox would become reality when you were with the raiden shogun.
she’s different than when you last saw her centuries ago, more open and definitely not controlled by the husk of a puppet she hid her face behind. perhaps it was a good idea to have helped the traveler alongside miko. you huffed, shifting your feet as you locked eyes with the woman you once loved.
they were no longer cold and striking but instead hopeful and warm, a welcome change but a bit too late, centuries late. here she was calling you up, but you weren’t sure what to say. truth be told, you were still picking up the pieces of the left she made of you when she decided to end it all.
“you’ve been well,” ei tried to say with a smile though her comment came out as more of a question and her cheerful smile one of confusion.
“i suppose the traveler talked you out of staying your days in the plane of euthymia. i should’ve warned him not to get close to you, you were always good at manipulating those around you.” you murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, not daring to look at your former lover.
“name
that’s not what
” she trailed off, her smile beginning to quiver at the cold look in your eyes.
“you know you had me in the palm of your hand, then why did you lock me out when i let you in. why are you even here, don’t beat around the bush. you never even bothered to visit me after you ended us,” you shook your head in disbelief, an exasperated expression on your face much to her dismay.
all the confidence she exuded had faltered, leaving behind her facade she put on in front of her people. how shocked the inazuman would be, to know that their almighty archon could be left speechless by just a few words. “i wanted to apologize. after makoto
i wasn’t thinking straight.”
“so you’re blaming this on makoto? are you serious?” you looked at her with a mixture of anger and sadness, crossing your arms.
ei waved her hands quickly, not wanting to fan the rising flames that had been mere sparks in your beating heart. “no that’s now that i meant! it’s just that, when i was in the plane of euthymia, all i thought about was you and how we ended. i regret it every day.”
you let out a small hum, nodding along with what she had to say. you weren’t sure if this was a worthy excuse to be sold by but then again, you did feel the same way. people like her always want back the love they pushed aside when they realise they didn’t have it anymore while people like you are gone forever when they said goodbye.
“let me remind you, this was what you wanted. you ended it.” you turned on your heels, walking away from her. despite being broken up for years, it seemed that both your hearts were still synchronised, beating like one even despite the fact she didn’t have one. and you felt her non-existent heart skip by just a few beats at your words.
is that what makes you stop in your tracks involuntarily? just because she broke your heart then doesn’t mean you had to return the favor, did you?
“you were all i wanted.” you sighed, your head hung low, your back facing her view of you. there are unspoken words, threatening to unravel from your tongue.
“but not like this.” you longed to say to her face, to hurt her like she hurt you but you couldn’t dare to. people like her always wanted back they love they gave away.
your feet moved on their own as you turned back to her, feeling what felt like hope blooming in your chest, hope that maybe this would work now. ei’s frown morphed into a warm smile though she tried to hide it, covering her mouth and looking away at you. you took her offered hand, intertwining your fingers, yours warm but hers cold. “so how do i know that you won’t make the same mistake twice?”
people like you want to believe her when she said that she changed. the more that you thought about it, the less you knew. all you knew was that she had driven you off the road and into the woods but now that you were in control of the wheel, you’d make sure that instead of crashing once more, you’d both make it through.

WILDEST DREAMS - kazuha
Tumblr media
❝ say you’ll see me again even if it’s just in your wildest dreams. ❞
summary: in which you spend sunsets with the crux’s resident poet, watching the sun shine down on the both of you
warnings: reader is gn, suggestive if you squint, not proofread
notes: day 9! truth be told, i can’t write kazuha so i had some trouble getting started with this one but im satisfied with how it turned out yay

“let’s get out of this town, sail away from the city, away from the crowd.” he had said to you almost a lifetime ago, his calloused, scarred hands clasped yours pleadingly.
the vision hunt decree was something that had struck swift and merciless like lightning from the electro archon herself, taking away whatever life you had envisioned with kazuha. you were reluctant to submit to his wishes, unsure if you were willing to throw away your life here. to leave behind your friends, your family, your homeland to you.
but then again, they said that home was where the heart is and your heart lied with kazuha. you thought that heaven couldn’t help you, that nothing lasted forever. so you agreed but on one condition to which he had taken wholeheartedly.
“say you’ll remember me, staring at the sunset. red lips and rosy cheeks, say you’ll see me again even if it’s just in your wildest dreams.” you had murmured, cradled in his arms and burying your face into the crook of his neck, swaying to the sounds of the wind that he could hear like melodies of a lullaby.
that was ages ago, you mused. sitting atop a crate and watching the sun setting over the seas of teyvat, you felt at peace with the wind blowing your hair gently like a welcome greeting. that could only mean that he was nearby for the wind did wondrous, mystical things when kazuha was present. he was one with nature, one with the wind.
your guess proved to be true as you felt the rough texture of his bandaged fingers on your shoulder though his touch gentle and fleeting. journeying with the crux was something out of a dream that a kid would think up. travelling everywhere with the world at your fingertips yet, never missing your home. because your home was right next to you, his head on yours as you watched the sunset together.
“do you remember that promise that you told me to make?” the poet spoke up calmly, his voice a familiar sound like the strum of a lyre and the wind blowing through a flute. gosh he was so handsome as hell, you tried to hide thought circling thoughts in your mind. at times he could be a bit bad, ruthless but he did it so well that it made you weak in the knees just by seeing that side of him.
you hummed your response, taking a deep breath and closing your eyes, to embrace this feeling of euphoria and serenity next to the man you loved. this sweet escape that you had both found when fleeing from the shogun had become a part of your lives, something that you couldn’t bear being without. you could feel the rising and falling of his chest, feel the way your breathing slowed to match his, calming you better than any meditation practice you had tried.
it was a life out of a romance novel you had read once, you felt, spending your endless days with him. no one had to know what you both did, the feel of his skin on yours, his hands in your hair. you’d see him in hindsight, tangled up with him all night, burning it down. leaving a mark on your bare skin, marking you as his forevermore.
but now was not the time, you’d live in the moment with him. follow the wind’s guidance and let him lead in this waltz you found yourself dancing in. you’d watch the sun set and rise, days start and end with him as long as you could. praying that someday when you’d both part ways, you hoped that these memories would follow him around.
for this life with him was the stuff of your wildest dreams.
