⭐ that brief Billy POV in RS3
(For the “writing commentary” thing)
Hoo boy, I gotta get inside Billy’s head again. I’ll have to take a shower afterwards.
Here goes.
-_-_-_-
Chlorine is a shitty excuse for saltwater.
Billy is very water-oriented. I feel like he would miss the ocean a lot - and that’s even before the flashbacks we got from that-one-season-that-never-happened. It makes perfect sense to me that he would be drawn to the one place in Hawkins that’s even marginally similar to his old home (that being the pool).
Like everything else in this town, the Hawkins Public Pool is a pathetically small, second-rate, wannabe imitation of the real thing. But it’s the closest thing they have, and he’s stuck here.
Anyway, it does have its perks. He gets paid to work on his tan and play the hero, doesn’t he? And the lifeguard chair provides a splendid view of all the best sights that Hawkins has to offer.
Here comes one such sight now.
Again, it makes perfect sense to me that Billy would be drawn to the pool and enjoy his job as lifeguard. He clearly sees himself as a Big Fucking Deal (see: the Halloween party scene in S2), and he likes to believe that he’s some suave, macho, big-deal Big City Guy who’s the main character - the hero - in his own story, where circumstance has trapped him in this less-than-ideal setting. But he’s the hero. Specifically, the manly, handsome, cool action hero - someone who should be drifting around LA in a car chase scene or saving the damsel in distress with his shirt artfully ripped from the climactic showdown near the end of the movie. That’s where he should be, in his opinion. But the thing is, he’s stuck here, in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere, with a bunch of hicks and nothing to do and nowhere to go as far as the eye can see. So he’s doing the best he can with the circumstances he’s stuck in.
Heather Holloway is a sweet little number. Nothing to write home about, and her cherry-red lifeguard suit does her figure no real favors. But she smirks at Billy as they pass each other, twirling her whistle around one finger, and her tits jiggle just slightly in her suit as she sweeps through the crowd towards the locker rooms. A wave of coconut sunscreen and some sparkling, expensive perfume washes past him in her wake.
She’s the kind of girl he would have taken for a midnight swim, back home.
Objectification. We’ve seen Billy do it several times, and what better place to do it than at the pool? He’s a shit person. (But then, we all knew that.)
Then again, maybe she’d be interested in a midnight swim here. They’re staff, after all - and Billy just happens to have a key to the pool. Maybe she’s into skinny dipping. He might just find out what’s under that shapeless swimsuit.
I needed to slip in the fact that Billy has a pool key and might come here after hours. You know. For reasons.
Billy sticks the whistle between his teeth and gives a sharp blast.
“Hey, Lardass!”
@the-angry-pixie pointed out that this might be a Stand By Me reference (in the actual Netflix season, not the fic), which would be cool. Or, rather, it would be a The Body reference (the novella by Stephen King on which Stand By Me was based), since The Body was released in ‘82, while SBM wasn’t released until ‘86 (a year after S3). I’m not sure if Billy is the type to have read The Body, but I liked the reference all the same, so I kept that little piece of dialogue.
The tubby kid on the far side of the pool screeches to a halt, eyes comically wide. Like a deer in the headlights. A fat, fat deer.
Dunno if I like that little section, looking back. That last sentence may not have been necessary, and I’m not sure if I think it adds anything, but oh well. The chapter has already been posted, so I’ll let it go lol.
“No running on my watch,” Billy says, sternly. He doesn’t even need to yell. The pool has gone respectfully quiet. “I gotta warn you again and you’re banned for life. You wanna be banned for life, Lardass?”
The kid’s head shakes back and forth.
“Didn’t think so.”
Another blast of the whistle, and the chatter starts up again. Beach balls bounce high into the air. Pool floats knock together like lethargic bumper cars. Some kids near the shallow end are playing chicken, and Billy feigns casting a protective eye over them as he passes the row of lounging middle-aged mothers. They adore him. They think he’s just the sweetest young man, always keeping an eye out for the kids in the pool, playing big brother.
Again: Billy certainly views himself as A Big Deal.
He climbs into the lifeguard chair with a practiced hop, settling in to survey his domain. It’s his last hour on shift, before the pool closes for the day, and the sunlight slopes through the chain link fence, tinted ruddy-gold from the approaching sunset.
He despises this town. But he’s practically a king here, so what can he say? There are worse ways to pass the time.
A bike bell draws his attention away, through the fence, to the street beyond the parking lot.
Well, whaddya know? Maxine. He’d recognize that tangled mess of hair anywhere. She’s coasting down the street beside her hick friends, the wheels of her dumb little-kid skateboard roaring obnoxiously in the middle of a small crowd of bikes. He dares her to look his way. To meet his eyes through the fence. But she’s oblivious to the death threats he’s beaming into the back of her skull, and after a moment they swing around a curve in the road and vanish from sight.
I originally planned for the Weathertop scene to flow more contiguously into the Billy POV scene, by having the kids bike (or, in Max’s case, skateboard) past the pool, and then have the “camera” kind of pan over to show what was going on inside the fence and transition into Billy’s POV. However, the pacing of that transition just wasn’t working very well. It felt too slow and bogged-down to cover the kids leaving Weathertop and biking to the store to buy candy, even if I covered it very briefly, so I ended up abandoning that idea and just having Billy see them ride past at the end of his POV here.
He turns back to the pool.
Somebody oughta knock that little bitch down a peg. He’s tired of her running around town like she owns the place.
Irony much?
(Also, foreshadowing much?)
-_-_-_-
Aaaand, that’s that! Phew, I can get out of Billy’s head again. Ugh.

masterlist | ICMYLM masterlist | previous chapter
You held on to the letter pursing your lips and turning it over in your hand. You pondered on whether you should open it or not, but you were honestly not ready. You did not want to see what he has to say for himself. You knew that after all that happened, Steve was loyal to Bucky and he would expect you to understand, just like he did when the two of you were still together. But you could not. You could not just forgive him nor Bucky for what he did to Tony. Steve would not have understood what Tony went through; and ultimately, the captain would prioritize his best friend’s feelings more because he understood Bucky’s predicament more than he understood Tony’s.
But you understood Tony. You were there through his sleepless nights, his anxiety attacks, the bouts of PTSD that would hit him the hardest at night. All the nightmares and the feelings of betrayals––you were the one to pick him up, hug him, comfort him, and even cry with him. His relationship with his parents were not the best, and you knew well that Tony would never expect his parents to be taken away from him that quickly.
Even if Howard was not the best dad out there, you knew that Tony loved him. Tony would have given everything in the world to get just a few minutes with his father to tell him he loved him before he passed away. The nights that were filled with regret were the worst; there was nothing you could do to help make it better. When it’s an anxiety attack, you were able to help him regulate his breathing. When it’s a nightmare, you were able to hug him and let him know that it was just a dream. But regret, it is the one thing that you cannot fix.
“Hey, babe,” Tony’s head poked into your office, holding the door ajar. You shook out of your daze and looked at him. “You ready to go?” He asked.
“Yeah, let me just get my things,” you said and stood up, slipping the letter inside your bag and then shutting your laptop down. You grabbed your coat and walked towards the door, Tony holding it open for you. You kissed him before heading out, holding hands and swaying them to the rhythm of your steps as he told you about his day.
You could see the genuine smile on his face and it had been months since you last saw it. That smile was contagious, encouraging a smile on your own lips because you knew this could only mean one thing: the support he made for Rhodey was working.
“A Fed-Ex guy called me Tony Stank today,” he said with a little grin.
You looked at him and laughed, your laughter echoing through the the hall along with his.
“He was a bit old, I would not blame him, but Rhodey is never letting that go, ever,” Tony explained, the tone of his voice picking up and it warmed your heart the way he sounded so happy.
“That’s hilarious,” you laughed. “I’m siding with Rhodey on this, I am never letting it go,” you chuckled. “Who Fed-Exed you?”
He looked at you and his face was a bit sullen, “Steve,” he said as he reached into his jacket to give you a letter. You saw that it was the exact same one as the one you received, a white envelope with only Tony’s name on it. “Read it,” Tony gestured you to just as the two of you reached the orange Audi. He opened the door for you and as you settled in the passenger’s seat, you began to read Steve’s letter to Tony.
You analyzed every single sentence and word over and over. You had mixed feelings in the pit of your stomach, but you did not say anything to Tony. Instead, you slipped the letter back inside the envelope and then handed it back to him and just smiled meaningfully before you proceeded to tell him about your story.
After that, you decided not to read your letter. The letter Steve sent to Tony was basically him asking Tony to understand what he had to do despite him saying sorry, you were not sure that he really was sorry for what he did to Tony.
It took you a long time to get your Tony back to the way he was and you were not going to let that one letter get Tony down again, so after you kept the letter inside your bag as well, you changed the topic and the entire ride home was filled with the two of you laughing and talking to each other, Tony holding your hand affectionately while one hand was on the steering wheel.
That night Tony was already asleep, but the thought of the letter kept you awake. You headed to your study, and turned on the lights. You sat on your chair, opened your drawer, and then took out the letter. You were scared of what you were going to read; you were afraid it was going to break your heart. Like it or not, Steve was still holding a small part of your heart, and no matter what it was you cannot just let that little part of your heart go.
Exhaling hard, you tore open the envelope and then pulled the letter out. Only four words were written on it:
I’m sorry. For everything.
You did not know whether to be disappointed or to be grateful that he did not write too much. You wanted to know what he was sorry for; you wanted to know whether he was sorry for breaking your heart, whether he was sorry for putting you second when you clearly deserved more. You placed the letter on the table and looked up when you noticed a figure at the doorway.
You inhaled in shock, goosebumps grew all over your skin; you were not terrified, because even though you cannot see his face, you knew who it was.
“What are you doing here?” You asked and stood up, wondering how he managed to get through FRIDAY.
He appeared from the shadows and you could see that his hair was longer and he had a beard––something you had never seen on him before. It took you quite a bit to adjust to his new look, but then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper folded together. It looked like he had been carrying it around with him for a long time considering the state of the paper––dog-eared and a bit stained.
“I want you to have this,” Steve said, his voice a bit raspy.
“What is that?”
“A proper apology I should have given you a long time ago,” he extended his hand to offer you the papers.
You did not take it, so instead he placed it on your desk.
“You just apologized,” you responded, lifting the white paper containing four simple words you had just read.
“It was not enough,” Steve insisted.
“And what about your apology to Tony? That was enough?” You asked, your tone a bit like you were challenging him.
Steve did not answer, instead he just sighed and looked at his feet.
“Don’t answer that,” you immediately said, not wanting to even know what he had to say for himself. “You have to go.”
“Alright,” he nodded, knowing that he must have put you through a lot and understanding that you might not have forgiven him yet just from a brief two-sentence apology. “Please read it. I owe you a lot of explanations, and that is the best I can give you. I hope you’ll forgive me.” Steve turned around and began to leave.
“Steve,” you called out one last time. “Would you still have done it?” You asked. It was a question that has been running through your mind when you were fixing Tony up at the quinjet when you picked him up. His creased forehead told you that you have not given him too much context to go on. “I mean if Tony’s arc reactor was still attached to his body to keep him alive, would you still put your shield through it to stop him?” You clarified.
He stood there and looked at you. You could see that he was thinking hard, and it was the most painful thing you had to witness that he did not just say that he would not have done it. The fact that he was thinking to answer it told you that he would have gone through lengths to stop Tony and helped Bucky––even if that meant killing Tony in the process.
“Don’t answer that either,” you choked out after about fifteen seconds, although it did feel longer than that, your eyes tearing up as you looked away from him to hide it. Steve swallowed a little and then just turned around and left.
A tear slipped out as you sat back down on the chair. You decided this time that you really did not want to read the apology he gave you, so you unlocked the drawer of the things that you rarely open because it contained a few of your important things and stored the paper there.
“Hey,” Tony walked into your study and you looked up. “Why are you not in bed?”
“Hi,” you smiled. “Bad dream,” you lied, but you stood up and then went over to hug him. You stayed like that for a bit, your head buried in his chest as he hugged you tight.
“You wanna talk about it?” Tony asked.
“No. I just want to go back to bed,” you replied, your voice muffled by his shirt.
“Okay, let’s go,” he kissed your hair and the two of you retreated back to your shared bedroom.
Steve’s letter dated a month after you and Tony were together.
(Y/N), there are a lot of things I wanted to say to you that I cannot fit in these papers. There are a lot of things that I have regretted over the last two years and I wish I could turn back time. You are one of the most important people in my life and I let you hang on to our relationship alone and not catch you when you slipped away.
I wish I did.
I should have been with you all the nights that I did not. I should have taken you out to dinner when you won the three cases .
I should have been with you when you were sitting alone in our room, crying because you could not visit your mother on her birthday.
I should have been with you to take you to bed every time you fall asleep on the couch.
I should have been with you every time you woke up in the middle of the night because of a bad dream.
I should have been with you all the nights when you slept alone and made you feel safe.
But when I see you with Tony, I know that what you had with him was what you deserved. The way he treated you is the way I should have treated you; but if I did have to lose you, there is no better man than Tony for you and I’m glad that you are happy with him. You deserve that. You both deserve to be happy.
You know that Bucky meant a lot to me. When I got out of the ice, I had lost everyone I loved and when I knew Bucky was still alive, he was the only thing that I can hold on to. I’ve lost Peggy, my parents, and everyone else in my life. Knowing Bucky was out there, I cannot just leave him alone under the influence of those people. I have to bring him home.
I have not succeeded yet, but I hope that when I do, you will let me make things up to you.
I know it must be hard for the two of you to forgive Bucky and until you do, I don’t think you will understand why I go through these lengths to bring him home. Bucky hurt Tony; I know that. No matter how much I hope the two of you understand that Bucky would never have done that if he were not under the influence of HYDRA, I know that it is not something that you can just accept and I understand.
But in some ways, Bucky did hurt you too. Unintentionally and indirectly, of course. And I want you to know that it was none of his fault and please do not hate him for what I did. I was the one who left you––he did not ask me to, and it was all my choice. I take full blame for what happened to us. I know that I probably won’t ever be able to make it up to you, but please let me try.
I want you to know that you are still holding that piece of my heart with you and no matter what, I will always love you. I am here for you if you ever need me. I’ll be seeing you.
Love, Steve.

© Disney Television Animation
Starcrushed was written by: Dominic Bisignano, Tyler Chen, Evon Freeman, Gina Gress, Aaron Hammersley, John Mathot & Le Tang
[theme song]
ACT I
[The episode starts with Marco watching photos of him and Star on his phone while lying on his bed. Cut to a flashback from the episode “Starcrushed”]
Star: Marco, we need to talk. Just one last time. Marco: Is everything okay? You shouted pretty loud. Everybody's just staring at us. Star: Yeah, I know. But some stuff just came up, and I've only got a little time. Marco: What? Why? We got the entire summer. Star: Marco, I don't know how to tell you this, because you're my best friend... Marco: Star? Star: ...and that makes this super weird because... Marco: What's wrong? Star: ...because I... I... I do have a crush on you.
All: [gasps]
Pony Head: Who called it?! I called it! Boom!
StarFan13: [faints]
Pony Head: I called it.
Star: I didn't want to admit it because I know you don't feel the same way, and I thought if I just pretended the feelings weren't there, they'd go away. But they haven't. I have to leave Earth, probably forever, and I couldn't go without telling you the truth.
Marco: Uh… I, uh…
Star: [crying] Good-bye! Good-bye, everyone! [runs back upstairs]
Marco: Star! [follows Star upstairs] Hey!
[As the camera follows Marco, Janna looks at Jackie, who appears stunned. Star runs inside her room and shuts the door. There's a bright flash of light inside]
Marco: [opens Star’s door] What do you mean—? [gasps]
[Star's bedroom reverts to the state it was in before she moved in]
Marco: Star?
[End of flashback]
Marco Diaz:
[narrating] I remember the first time we met… I was just an ordinary high school student living an ordinary life in an ordinary town and she… well, she was a magical princess from another dimension. [scrolls down to see more pictures] although I was only meant to be her guide on Earth, somehow we became closer as we started to hang out, but... I never thought of her as more than just a friend, I mean [watches a picture of Jackie] she even encouraged me to confess my feelings to my childhood crush, Jackie Lynn Thomas. It was thanks to her that we became a couple [cut to a flashback of him and Jackie kissing], but now that I know Star’s true feelings… I… I don’t know what to think of it. She didn’t even give me any time to react and now... I’m more confused than ever [sigh] the question is: what should I do now? [looks at his dimensional scissors]
[Marco’s phone rings. It’s a call from Jackie]
Marco:
[narrating] Speaking of which... [answering the phone] Hi Jackie.
Jackie Lynn Thomas:
[o.s] Hey Marco, what’s up?
Marco:
Eh. nothing really. Just here alone in my room, trying to catch some Z’s...
Jackie:
[o.s.] Oh, I see... You know, I was thinking: School is about to start next week and... I was wondering if tomorrow we can… you know... go on a date or something. There’s this really cool place downtown where we can go skateboarding, so...
Marco:
[hesitating] Uhm... sure. I can’t wait for it.
Jackie:
[o.s.] Marco, is everything okay? I mean, you don’t have to pretend that you want to go just for me.We can go out any other day if you’re not in the mood...
Marco:
What? No, no, no, you got me wrong, it’s just … [sigh] I’ve been through a lot of things lately and... I don’t wanna drag you down with my problems. but trust me when I say that I really want to go out with you… on a date.
Jackie:
[o.s] Marco, how can you say that? You know that if you have any kind of problem, you should tell me about it so we can get through it together. That’s what couples are for silly.
Marco:
That’s why I want to go out with you tomorrow. Lately I've been feeling under the weather and I need to see you again.
Jackie:
[o.s.] Great, Then I’ll see you at the bus stop on Bakersfield Street. 5 0’ Clock. Don’t forget to bring your helmet.
Marco:
I will. See you there. Bye. [hangs up]
[Marco stares at the ceiling for a moment until he recovers his confidence]
Marco:
[narrating] Okay, enough with this nonsense... sure Star is gone and things will never be the same, but... life goes on and it wouldn’t be fair for Jackie if I keep going like this… [watches a picture of Star on his phone] Besides, I’m sure Star is having fun with her friends back in Mewni, so I might as well do the same. [watches a picture of Jackie and smiles]
[Cut to next day. Jackie waits for Marco at the bus stop. Marco arrives on his Skateboard while Jackie receives him with a kiss on the cheek]
Jackie:
Are you ready to do this?
Marco:
Ready as I’ll ever be.
[They skate together through the sidewalk holding hands]
Jackie:
So, how are you feeling today?
Marco:
Uhm… fine.
Jackie:
Are you sure? Because yesterday...
Marco:
Look, I’m sorry if I got you worried with our conversation the other day. It’s just... I’m still coping with the fact that Star is gone,I mean… you know when you spent so much time with someone and...
Jackie:
...and suddenly that someone rides out of your life before you can even notice it.
Marco:
It’s not that I don’t want to spend time with you. This is a process that I must face alone and I don’t think it’s fair to drag you down in all of this.
Jackie:
Marco: I know it’s not been easy for you, I understand, but you also need to remember that there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. We can get through this... [holds Marco’s hand] together
Marco:
You must think I’ve messed it all up... again.
Jackie:
Well... sort of...
[They share a brief moment of silence and then they start laughing. Once they’re done laughing, they keep skating]
Jackie:
So… just to clarify: Between you and Star...?
Marco:
What? Oh, You mean what happened last summer. Don’t worry about that. To be honest, things haven’t changed that much between Star and I. We’re still friends.
Jackie:
[smiling] I’m so glad to hear that, I wouldn’t like to be a third wheel you know.
Marco:
Jackie, you’re way too far to be a third wheel in my book.
Jackie:
The reason I ask it’s because… [blushing] We’ve been dating for almost a year and… I was wondering if it’s time for us to… you know...
Marco:
I’m not following...
Jackie:
Take our... relationship to the next level.
Marco:
Next… level?
Jackie:
Yeah, I think it’s time for us to meet each other… in a more intimate way.
[Marco blushes as he understands what is she talking about]
Jackie:
But… you know, only if you really wanted it… I’m not trying to put any pressure on you or anything...
Marco:
It’s not that I don’t want it… it’s just... you really caught me by surprise. I mean... I’ve been dreaming about being your boyfriend for so long, and... I always thought that I would be the one to take the initiative, but anyway...
Jackie:
Marco, look out for that...!!!
[Marco crashes with a road sign and falls onto the pavement]
Jackie:
[picking Marco up] Are you okay?
Marco:
Don’t worry, I’m fine. It was just a harmless bump, that’s all.
Jackie:
Uhm Marco, your nose...
[Marco’s nose is bleeding all the way down to his clothes]
Marco:
Aw man... I-I-I’m sure there is nothing to be worried about… just a running nose, that’s all. If I gently touch it, everything will be just… [as soon as he touches it, screams in pain] FIIIIINE!!!
Jackie:
Alright, we should go to your house to put some ice to that running nose.
Marco:
But Jackie, what about our date?
Jackie:
Are you kidding? In your condition you shouldn’t even consider getting on a skateboard. Come on, let’s go... [they walk back to Marco’s home]
[Cut to the Diaz household. Marco and Jackie open the door while taking their helmets out]
Marco:
[sigh] I’m so sorry Jackie. I really wanted to spend this whole day together with you.
Jackie:
Why do you even apologize? It was an accident. Besides, we can go out any other day.
Marco:
I guess you’re right.
Jackie:
Also... we could use this opportunity to… [rolling her eyes] you know...
[Marco’s heart starts beating fast while his nose keeps bleeding]
Jackie:
Marco, please calm down. Wait until we treat your...
[Their conversation gets interrupted by the sound of Marco’s parents laughing at the living room]
Marco:
[sigh] Aaaand, there goes our private time.
Jackie:
Huh, I wonder what they’re laughing about?
[Marco and Jackie walk into the living room and see Star sitting at the couch between Marco’s parents]
Marco:
[gasps] No… Way...
Star Butterfly:
[gasps] Marco!!!
[Star jumps from the couch right into Marco’s arms and hugs him. He hugs her back but they immediately step back due the romantic tension]
Marco:
I’m so glad to see you here. I thought last summer would be the last time we...
Star:
[interrupting him] What happened to your nose?
Marco:
Oh, this? It’s nothing to worry about, I just need to put some ice and...
Star:
Ice? Pfft, come. Let me give you a hand with that... [she raises her wand and menacingly points it right into Marco’s face]
Marco:
[nervous] Star, you don’t have to do this… I can...
Star:
RETURNIO NASUS NORMARINO!!!
[Star blasts Marco’s face with magic. He closes his eyes, but then he realizes that he’s okay and his nose is now fixed]
Marco:
My… nose is fine? Wow, thank you Star.
Star:
Don’t mention it. That’s what friends are for.
Marco:
No, really… that spell was like... brilliantly executed. I’m impressed.
Star:
Well, it’s nothing really. Last summer I worked hard on my spells and you know... I’m always willing to help anyone who needs it. [she notices Jackie] Oh, hey Jackie.
Jackie:
Hey Star, [fistbumps with her] What have you been up to lately?
Marco:
Yeah, I thought you would never come back.
Star:
[patting her head] Oh, of course, I almost forgot to tell you: My parents allowed me to return to Earth for another year. Isn’t it wonderful?
Marco:
Really? That is so AWESOME. We’re gonna have so much fun together.
Mrs. Diaz:
Finally, our prayers have been answered.
Mr. Diaz:
With Star around the house again, we don’t have to worry about our plain and boring suburban lives anymore.
Marco:
Jeez, thank you so much for that comment.
Jackie:
Cool, now we can hang around together like in the old days.
Star:
Sure, I can make another sleepover at Marco’s house like in the last time.
Mrs. Diaz:
[raising an eyebrow] Wait, a sleepover? Marco never told me about...
Marco:
[interrupting her] Oh boy, oh boy... just think how excited everyone at school will get so when they see you again. I... just… can’t... wait.
Star:
Oh, Marco… you’re exaggerating. I’m pretty sure it won’t be a big deal...
[Cut to next day at Echo Creek Academy]
Justin:
HEY EVERYONE!!! STAR IS BACK!!!
[A crowd of students receives Star with praise and enjoyment]
Blake:
So glad to have you here Star.
Chelsea:
Can we hang out? I’ll bake you a pie if you like.
Francis:
Can I help you with your homework?
Sabrina:
Is that a new wand?
Starfan13:
OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH!!! [hugs Star] you’re here!!!
Hope:
We’re so glad to have you back.
Becky:
My boyfriend and I made you this friendship bracelet. Do you like it?
Justin:
Star Butterfly rules!!!
Star:
People, people. Relax. We can talk about all the fun things we can do together later when I’LL TAKE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK TO THE BOUNCE DIMENSION!!!
[Everyone cheers. Then Brittney Wong shows up with her usual displeased face]
Brittney Wong:
[speaking sarcastically] Wow, Star Butterfly is back again on Earth. This must be my birthday, I mean... Now that you’re here we can hang out together like “besties” [quote on quote fingers] In fact: Why don’t you go to my house next week for a sleepover so we can paint our toenails and talk about crushes and stuff.
Star:
Really? I would LOVE to hang out with you Brittney. You know, I’ve always got this really weird impression that you never liked me considering all those nicknames you gave me in the past... [gives her a pat on the back] Oh, that is just classic Brittney.
Marco:
Uhm, Star? I think she’s just been sarcastic.
Star:
Oh, don’t be silly Marco. Brittney just likes to show her affection in her own particular way… right “bestie”? [winks at her while giving a pat on the shoulder]
Brittney:
[crossing her arms] Ugh, whatever...
Star:
Now: Who wants A FREE LASER PUPPY?!!!
[She uses her wand to create laser puppies. Everyone cheers in response]
Everyone:
STAR BUTTERFLY!!! STAR BUTTERFLY!!!
[Janna Ordonia approaches Star while everyone keeps chanting]
Janna Ordonia:
Glad to have you back Star. [fistbumps with her] I mean, without you this school is a dump.
Star:
Oh, come on Janna. It’s not THAT bad.
Janna:
I’m serious. When you’re not around this place is more boring than a waiting line for a Smiths concert.
Star:
Well, I guess you’re right. I am kind of awesome.
Brittney:
[cough] bootlicker... [cough]
Star:
Are you okay Brittney? that cough sounds pretty nasty...
Janna:
You can say that again...
Star:
Maybe if I can help you with that… [raises her wand]
Brittney:
[intimidated by the wand] Uhm, I’ve just remembered that I have things to do [walks away]
Janna:
[beat] Anyway: We need to make a party for you next saturday. [she approaches Marco and grabs him by the shoulder] So, what do you say safety boy? you put the house and I’ll take care of the rest.
Marco:
You know Janna: Considering the occasion, I would actually consider your offer without any problem whatsoever...
Janna:
Great, then it’s settled...
Marco:
[interrupting her] However: Next saturday, my parents will make some redecorations in the kitchen, so… you’re gonna have to find somewhere else, like… I don’t know: Your own house?
Janna:
[releasing Marco] Oh Marco, don’t you know it? My parents are very strict when it comes to activities at my house and a party is totally off-limits.
[Cut to Alfonzo and Ferguson overhearing the conversation in the background]
Ferguson:
Hey Alfonzo. Aren’t your parents on a business trip this weekend?
Alfonzo:
Uhm, yeah. They won’t come back ‘til Monday. So?
Ferguson:
So? You can offer your house for the party.
Alfonzo:
Mmmm… I don’t know.
Ferguson:
Come on Fonz. This might be our chance to become popular.
Alfonzo:
Really?
Ferguson:
Yeah, think about it: If we’re the hosts for Star’s Butterfly welcome party, more people at school will want to become our friends as well. Not to mention: We will become more popular with the girls. [Alfonzo has stars in his eyes]
Alfonzo:
Yeah, you’re right. I never thought it that way. I’ll do it.
Ferguson:
[to Janna] Hey Janna. Alfonzo’s house is available.
Janna:
Great. Then it’s settled [grabs Star by the shoulder] Star Butterfly: Prepare for the biggest, coolest and most exciting welcome back party of your lifetime. I guarantee you that THIS will be an event you will remember for a very long time.
ACT II
[Cut to Alfonzo’s Household at night. Marco, Star and Jackie knock at the door and are received by Janna]
Janna:
Well, well, well, look who we have here. Getting half-hour late to your own party? classic Star.
Marco:
We had some problems choosing a dress for the occasion, even though I told her that isn’t that kind of party. Also, I thought we could show up like… whenever.
Janna:
Relax, safety kid, I was just messing with you... [rubs Marco’s chin]
Marco:
[sigh] Get outta town.
Star:
Oh, Marco, I’m so excited. This party is gonna be OFF THE HEEZY!!!
[Cut to the living room.Alfonzo tries to keep the house in order while everyone else is having a good time. The radio is playing “I feel it coming” by the Weeknd]
Alfonzo:
Please, don’t touch that thing. It’s a family relic… [sees someone running around] Hey, don’t run around like that, you’re gonna break… oh, come on [notices a glass on the table without a coaster] How many times I’ve gotta say it: Use the coasters to keep the table clean [sigh] Ferguson!!!
[Cut to Ferguson talking to a girl who looks bored out of her mind]
Ferguson:
Like I said. I’m a close friend of Star, so… If you wanna hang around with us on an awesome adventure you can… [he gets interrupted by Alfonzo]
Alfonzo:
Ferguson: I need to talk to you.
Ferguson:
Eh, will you excuse me for just one second.
[They walk away to talk in private]
Alfonzo:
I can’t take it anymore. Nobody listens to me. I mean, look at my living room [points at some furnitures upside down]
Ferguson:
Relax dude, I’ll help you to clean it out later. In fact, you should come with me so we can try to start a conversation with the cheerleading team over there.
Alfonzo:
What? You mean Brittney is here too?
Ferguson:
[laughing] At a party for Star? Not in a million years. I’m talking about Sabrina, Chantal and the others. Don’t you wanna go and try to get their numbers?
Alfonzo:
Well, I guess I could... give it a try.
Ferguson:
That’s the spirit. Come on.
[Cut to Marco Star, Jackie and Janna talking to each other]
Star:
Wow Janna. I must say you really outdone yourself this time, I mean… look at all these people, I don’t even know half of them.
Marco:
Hate to admit it, but you know how to throw a party.
Janna:
Eh, I have my moments.
Jackie:
I agree with Star, this place is so crowded that I don’t think there’s a single room without people in it.
Janna:
Mmmm… You know, if I were you, I would check upstairs just to be sure [winks at her] Now, if you excuse me: I’ve got a little surprise for Star and I think you need to spend some “quality” time together.
Star:
Really?
Janna:
Come on, follow me. I know you’re gonna like it.
[Star hesitates as she sees Marco and Jackie holding hands]
Star:
Well, sure. I’ll go with you.
Janna:
Great. See you later lovebirds.
Star:
Bye Marco, Bye Jackie. Have fun.
[Star and Janna separate from Marco and Jackie while Marco gets distracted watching Star walking away from them]
Jackie:
Marco? Marco?
Marco:
Oh, yeah, sorry… I was...
Jackie:
Are you okay? You look kinda pale.
Marco:
I’m fine. I’m just feeling dizzy because of the ponch, that’s all.
Jackie:
Well, if that’s the case [she grabs Marco’s hands and gets closer to him] maybe we should follow Janna’s advice to go upstairs so you can… take a break. [winks at him]
[Marco blushes as he feels his heart beating faster while holding Jackie’s hands]
Marco:
[breathing heavily] Let’s do it.
[Cut to Star and Janna passing by while they’re greeted by everyone]
Star:
Okay Janna. Enough with all the mystery. What’s the big idea?
Janna:
If you really wanna know, I suggest looking right over there.
[Star sees Oskar Greason sitting on the couch playing his keyboard, annoying everyone around him]
Star:
Oskar Greason?
Janna:
What’s wrong? I thought you had a crush on him.
Star:
Yeah, I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the gesture, it’s just… I don’t know what I want anymore.
Janna:
If you’re not really sure, I guess we can just... sneak around from the party and go somewhere else.
Star:
Oh, I couldn’t do that to poor Oskar. Besides: you put a lot of effort to bring him here...
Janna:
So, what are you gonna do?
Star:
Well… I guess I can break the ice and give it a try.
Janna:
That’s the spirit. Go and get him girl.
[Cut to Marco and Jackie making out at Alfonzo’s parents bedroom]
Jackie:
Do you have protection?
Marco:
It’s in my wallet. Hold on.
[Marco checks his wallet and pulls out a condom, but he notices something wrong]
Marco:
Oh, shoot.
Jackie:
What 's wrong?
Marco:
Janna took away the money from my wallet… again. That’s why she told us about the empty bedrooms. She knew it all along.
Jackie:
[smiling] Well, at least she was considerate enough to leave the condom, don’t you think?
Marco:
Yeah, I guess.
Jackie:
All in all, we should be thankful for this moment. Don’t you think Marco?
Marco:
Yeah...
Jackie:
Good, because this party is just getting started. [grabs Marco’s hand and put it on her breast as Marco kisses her on the mouth]
Marco:
[narrating] Okay, this is it Marco. The moment you’ve been waiting for your whole life. Jackie Lynn Thomas is about to take you to third base. Oh, her breast is so… soft. Don’t hold back now man, it’s time to take the initiative. [they lay down on the bed]
[Cut to Star and Oskar sitting on the couch while sharing a moment of awkward silence]
Star:
So… Oskar, what’s up?
Oskar Greason:
Nothing... just hanging around… [beat]
Star:
Oh, I see...
[Awkward silence]
Oskar:
Hey, is that a new wand?
Star:
What? This thing? [showing the wand] no, actually it’s the same wand. it changes every time I reach a new level of magical power or something...
Oskar:
Sweet.
Star:
You think so? It’s funny how it all happened, you see, last summer Marco and I were fighting against this lizard monster that wanted to take over Mewni and...
Oskar:
[interrupting her] Lizard monster?. In my other school I was part of a band named King Lizard and I was like… the lead vocalist, but they kicked me out because they said I wasn’t good enough.
Star:
Well, I’m sorry to hear that.
Oskar:
Yeah, but between you and me, I think they were just jealous, I mean… that’s why they turned down all my ideas. Gosh. Idiots.
Star:
Yeah, but you know what they say...
Oskar:
[interrupting her again] and you know who else is an idiot? My mother’s boyfriend.
Star:
And… what does it have to do with…?
Oskar:
[interrupting her yet again] It’s like this… one time, when we were having breakfast... and one of the toasts looked like Abraham Lincoln, you know, with the hat and all that stuff... and I was about to take a picture and put it on the Internet, but he ate before I could do it. Gosh. What an idiot.
Star:
[looking at the floor] That sounds… pretty bad.
Oskar:
Tell me about it… and there was this one time...
[Cut to Marco and Jackie making out half naked in the dark]
Jackie:
[breathing heavily] I love you Marco.
Marco:
[breathing heavily] I love you too Star.
Jackie:
STAR?!!! [turns the lights on]
Marco:
[getting nervous] I’m so sorry Jackie. I… was just...
Jackie:
You were thinking about Star, don’t you?
Marco:
No… I mean… Yes… I mean… [narrating] Oh man, what did I do? Why did I say Star’s name?
Jackie:
Marco… do you… like Star?
[They share an uncomfortable silence. Cut back to Star hearing Oskar stories]
Oskar:
...and was like.. all alone in the woods with a grizzly bear staring right at me. I thought it would be the end, but just when I thought it was all over... A werewolf appeared out of nowhere and fought the grizzly bear.
Star:
[looking bored] Werewolves? Really?
Oskar:
Yeah, and it was a great fight. But I forgot to record it on my cell phone. But it doesn’t matter because werewolves don’t have a reflection anyway.
Star:
Oskar, those are the vampires.
Oskar:
Nah, I’m pretty sure it was a werewolf. It was too hairy to be a vampire.
Star:
No, I mean the reflection. Vampires are the ones that don’t have a reflection.
Oskar:
Oh...
[Awkward silence]
Star:
Uhm… Will you excuse me for a moment? I need to go to the bathroom to… powder my nose... or something like that.
Oskar:
Okay. I’ll be waiting right here.
Star:
Yeah, you do that.
[Star walks away from him as fast as she can]
Oskar:
Yep. She’s crazy for me. No doubt about it.
[Cut to Janna meddling a ponch-drinking competition]
Janna:
Woo-Hoo, that’s right boys. Keep that juice pumping... [Star approaches her from behind]
Star:
[whispering] Uhm, Janna...
Janna:
Hey party girl...
Star:
Can we talk for a minute in private?
Janna:
Uhm, sure... [to everyone] Okay boys, you can take a break now. Star and I have some business to attend… somewhere else.
[Star and Janna find a quiet place to talk]
Janna:
So… how’s things going between you and Oskar?
Star:
Oh Janna, it was awful. It’s like every sentence that comes out from his mouth makes even less sense than the previous one.
Janna:
Really? Is Oskar really that bad?
Star:
Janna, the guy spent 15 MINUTES talking about the different types of moldy bread his mother’s boyfriend likes to eat. You gotta get me out of here before...
Oskar:
[o.s] Star? Where are you? You wanna hear my new song?
Star:
[begging on her knees] Janna please, I just can’t take it anymore.
Janna:
Okay, okay, let me think for a moment. [she takes a few seconds to think about it] I got it. Follow me. [she grabs Star by the hand to the other side of the room]
[Cut to the closet door under the staircase where the cheerleaders are playing “7 minutes in heaven”. Alfonzo and Ferguson come out along with some random girls. They have lipstick marks all over their faces]
Alfonzo & Ferguson:
[with hearts in their eyes] BEST. NIGHT. EVER!!!
Chantal:
Alright, who’s next?
[Star and Janna show up looking for a place to hide]
Chantal:
Hey girls… wanna play 7 minutes in heaven?
Janna:
Later, now I’m trying to find a place where Star can hide from Oskar.
Sabrina:
Oskar Greason?
Star:
Wait a minute… what if you let me use this closet to hide from Oskar?. I won’t interrupt anything, I promise. Please?
Chantal:
I’m sorry Star, but you gotta play the game if you wanna use the closet. Rules are rules.
[Star hears Oskar calling from the distance]
Oskar:
[o.s] Star? Star?
Star:
Deal, now let me hide, and whatever you do: Don’t tell Oskar that I’m here.
Chantal:
Don’t worry. My lips are sealed.
Sabrina:
Yeah, everything will be okay.
[Star hides in the closet before Oskar can find her. Cut to Janna trying to act discrete in front of him]
Oskar:
Hey Janna. Do you know where Star is? I can’t find her anywhere.
Janna:
I don’t know. I haven’t seen Star the whole night. Maybe... she just left.
Oskar:
Oh, that’s pretty bad. I was about to show her my new song. Wanna hear it?
Janna:
Maybe another time. I… I got some things to do… over there... see ya [she runs away from him]
Oskar:
Okay.
[Cut to Marco and Jackie sitting on the bed. Then Marco stands up, put on his red hoodie and runs away while trying to avoid eye contact with Jackie]
Marco:
Sorry...
Jackie:
Marco, wait… we can talk about this...
[As soon as he leaves the room, he quickly goes downstairs while being followed by Jackie]
Marco:
[narrating] Why is she following me? Oh no, she wants to break up with me. [he tries to not burst into tears] But I don’t… I don’t wanna… break up. It was a mistake, or... maybe it wasn’t...
[Marco notices that everyone starts to look at him, which makes him even more nervous]
Marco:
[narrating] Great, now everyone is looking at me. Come on Marco, think… I can’t just run to the door and leave, that would make me look suspicious [he notices the closet under the Staircase] Jackie’s coming. I guess I can lock myself until it’s all over.
[Marco runs towards the closet and uses it to hide from Jackie]
Marco:
[to Chantal] Please don’t tell Jackie that I’m here.
Chantal:
No Marco, wait… that closet is for...
[But just in that moment Jackie arrives asking for Marco]
Jackie:
Hey girls, have you seen Marco?
Chantal:
Eh... nope...  I didn’t see him.
Sabrina:
Neither do I...
Jackie:
Well. If you find Marco, can you tell him that I…?
[Oskar shows up and interrupt their conversation]
Oskar:
Excuse me, my keyboard just broke and I need a place to keep it while I find the missing keys. Can I use this closet?
Sabrina:
Oskar, don’t open that…
[Before she can finish the sentence, Oskar opens the door revealing Star kissing Marco]
Sabrina:
...closet.
[Star opens her eyes and realizes that she’s kissing Marco while everyone else is watching them. Then Star runs away with tears coming out of her eyes]
Marco:
Star, wait!!! [She runs away before he could explain the whole situation] I can explain… [he sees everyone else watching him so he locks himself inside the closet]
ACT III
[Cut to Mrs. Diaz speaking on the telephone. Her husband is sitting next to her hearing the conversation]
Mrs. Diaz:
I see… No, no, no it’s fine… she can stay with you, I was just calling to know if she’s okay… Well, if anything happens, you know our number, okay?… again, thank you very much Mrs. Ordonia, it is very kind of you to take care of her… okay, bye [hangs up the phone] Star is at Janna’s house, there’s nothing to worry about...
Mr. Diaz:
Did she tell you what happened?
Mrs. Diaz:
[sigh] She doesn’t know either, but from what I understand, it has something to do with Marco...
Mr. Diaz:
Well, that would explain why he just went straight to his room without saying a single word.
Mrs. Diaz:
Oh, Rafael, I’m so worried...
Mr. Diaz:
Relax, I’ll go and talk to him, you go to the kitchen and prepare yourself some tea, okay?
Mrs. Diaz:
[takes a deep breath] Okay...
[Mr. Díaz goes upstairs to talk with Marco, but he’s sitting on the bed with his hood over his head in complete silence]
Mr. Díaz:
Uhm, Son? Can I talk to you for a minute?
Marco:
Sure...
[He sits next to his son, but Marco turns his head away to avoid showing his face]
Mr. Díaz:
Marco, your mother and I are worried… Is there something you need to tell us right now?
Marco:
I have nothing to say...
Mr. Díaz:
Are you sure? Remember that we’re your parents and we love you no matter what, so you don’t need to be afraid to tell us what happened...
Marco:
I know… It’s just… [sigh] I don’t wanna talk about it, that's all.
Mr. Díaz:
Okay Marco, I understand. Just tell me: Did Star have something to do with…?
[As soon as he mentions Star, Marco starts crying while putting on fetal position]
Mr. Díaz:
Okay, okay, I get it… I’ll leave you alone, but remember: If you need anything and I mean ANYTHING… you can talk to me, are we cool?
Marco:
[still crying] Okay...
[Rafael closes the door. Cut to next week at Echo Creek Academy. Star roams around the hallways with a shameful expression while everyone else just whisper behind her back]
Kid #1:
[whispering] Have you heard what happened last week?
Kid #2:
[whispering] No, what is it?
Kid #1:
[whispering] It seems like Marco cheated on Jackie with Star.
Kid #2:
[whispering] Really?
Kid #3:
[whispering] Yeah, I’ve heard it too... they we’re making out inside a closet at her party at Alfonzo’s house...
Kid #2:
[whispering] Wow, that’s pretty heavy, man...
Kid #1:
[whispering] Yeah, tell me about it...
Kid #2:
[whispering] And what about Jackie? How did she react to all of this?
Kid #3:
[whispering] She seemed pretty calm last time I saw her...
Kid #2:
[whispering] Maybe she's just hiding her pain or something like that...
Kid #3:
[whispering] Well, that’s just sad. Poor Jackie.
Kid #1:
[whispering] Yeah, especially considering how happy they looked before all this happened...
Kid #2:
[whispering] The only thing I know I’m glad that it didn’t happen to me this time...
[Cut to Jackie riding on her skateboard while trying to communicate with Marco through text messages, but without success. She eventually comes across with Star, but she tries to avoid her]
Jackie:
Star? Can I talk with you for a...
[In that moment, Brittney shows up]
Brittney:
Well, well, well, If it isn’t Star Butterface… I’ve just heard what you did last week, and to be honest,I’m not even surprised. You really reached a new low, I mean… Steal someone else’s boyfriend the same week you return to Earth, like... have you no shame whatsoever?
[Star just looks at the floor in embarrassment, then Jackie steps up to defend her]
Jackie:
[to Brittney] Don’t you have anything better to do?
Brittney:
Well excuse me for telling the truth. Because it seems like every time this “magical princess” messes things up no one bats an eye about it. Seriously, [to Star] What makes you think you’re so special? Because you’re a member of the royalty? Is that it? Or is it because you’re rich you think you’re better than everyone around here? What a selfish jerk...
[Star just keeps looking at the floor with tears coming out of her eyes. Meanwhile, everyone at school gathers around to see what’s going on. Then Janna shows up]
Janna:
[to Jackie] What’s going on here?
Brittney:
I’ll tell you what’s going on: Princess Butterface thinks she can get away with stealing Jackie’s boyfriend and now she’s just playing victim.
Janna:
And what do you care about? You didn’t even go to that party.
Brittney:
I don’t need to go to a party to know that Star Butterfly is an awful person who puts herself over everyone else.
Jackie:
And that gives you the right to judge her?
Brittney:
What? Why are you still defending her? After what she did to you?
Jackie:
Look, what happens between Star and I is none of your business.
Janna:
Yeah, why don’t you just go away?
Jackie:
This whole fight is just pointless. Marco is not even here.
Brittney:
Well, he’s lucky to not be here because I have some things to say about him too...
Star:
SHUT UP!!!
[Everyone reacts in shock while Star just stares at Brittney with tears still coming out of her eyes]
Star:
I don’t know what’s your problem with me Brittney, but I’m not gonna let you keep telling me that I’m a cheater, or a coward, or a selfish jerk. And If you know what’s best for you, you better stop right now [threatens Brittney with her wand] because… because...
[But before she can finish, Star summons Cloudy and flies away from the confrontation while bursting into tears]
Jackie:
Star, wait… come back here please [she goes after her using her Skateboard]
Janna:
I hope you’re happy with yourself.
Brittney:
Hey, don’t put the blame on me. I’m not the bad guy here.
Janna:
[sigh] Whatever...
[Janna walks away from Brittney while everyone else just stares at her in disapproval. Cut to Star crying over the roof of some suburban house while watching the sunset. Jackie climbs to the roof to talk with her]
Jackie:
Hey Star...
Star:
[getting nervous] Hi Jackie [fistbumps with her]
Jackie:
That’s a really beautiful sunset, don’t you think?
Star:
Yeah, it 's pretty.
Jackie:
Do you have sunsets like this on Mewni?
Star:
Yeah... It’s pretty much the same.
Jackie:
That sounds cool. At least you can have something to remind you of your home while you’re here on Earth. That’s nice.
Star:
I guess...
[Awkward silence]
Jackie:
You know, I’m curious. How exactly things work on Mewni… It’s just that I...
Star:
[interrupting her] Okay, cut it out Jackie. We both know why you’re here so please just stop pretending that you like me and face the problem.
Jackie:
Okay, I think we start off with the wrong foot, so I’ll start all over again. Star, I’m not here to fight with you. On the contrary, I’m here to help you.
Star:
[sobbing] Really?
Jackie:
Of course. Look, the thing is: I’m worried about Marco. I’ve been trying to contact him the whole weekend, but he just keeps blocking my messages. I need you to help me.
Star:
What? What is it?
Jackie:
Well… you’re like… the most important person in his life right now and I’m here to ask you what’s going on… please, tell me what to do because, frankly I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t want to look the other way and pretend that nothing happened.
Star:
Well, you came to the wrong place because I didn’t talk to him since last week. I’m just as clueless as you right now.
Jackie:
[laughing] Oh man, I don’t believe it...
Star:
What 's so funny?
Jackie:
I mean what are you doing? Just to sit down and feel sorry for ourselves just because we don’t want to face tthe elephant in the room. Kinda silly, don’t you think?
Star:
Yeah… It’s… very silly...
[They share another moment of silence until Star chuckles while being followed by Jackie. Eventually both girls ended up bursting in laughter]
Star:
We sure are a couple of silly girls, don’t you think?
Jackie:
Yep.
Star:
Jackie, I...
Jackie:
Wait… Let me go first so we can get this out of the way: I know how important Marco is for you, not only as a friend and… I thought it was pretty brave when you confessed your feelings in front of everyone. I thought that was pretty rad.
Star:
Wow, thank you Jackie. That means a lot to me.
Jackie:
My point is: Even though I still love Marco, I don’t want to get in the way if he feels the same as you do, but if we keep ignoring the problem, we may never know.
Star:
[taking a deep breath] You’re right. We should go with Marco and settle this argument once and for all. And no matter what decision he would take, I must be strong...
Jackie:
Now, that’s the spirit. So what do you say, truce? [extends her hand]
Star:
Truce. [shakes hands with her]
Old Man:
[o.s] Hey, what is that noise? Is anyone up there on my roof? I’ll call the police.
Star:
Okay, I think we should go right now...
[Star summons Cloudy so she and Jackie can quickly flee from the roof. Cut to Marco’s house where Star and Jackie are trying to make Marco come out of his room]
Star:
[knocking at the door] Marco? Marco? It’s me Star. Open the door please. Jackie and I just want to  talk… come on...
Jackie:
We’re not mad at you or anything dude. We just want to clear things up. Please.
[They keep knocking but they have no answer from Marco whatsoever]
Star:
[getting desperate] Okay Marco, cut it out. You can’t just run away from your problems like this [keeps knocking at the door] Don’t make me use the wand...
Jackie:
[whispering to Star] Calm down Star, the more you push it, the less he will want to talk with us. We need to come up with a different strategy.
Star:
You’re right ...[snaps her fingers] I’ve got it.
[Star uses her wand to create a laser puppy]
Star:
I have a cute laser puppy for you, but only if you open the door.
Marco:
[o.s] Meh...
Star:
[getting angry] OH COME ON!!! [drops the puppy and it shoots her in the eye] Ouch!!!
[Jackie thinks for a moment and comes up with an idea]
Jackie:
You know what Star? Just forget about it. It’s obvious that Marco doesn’t care about any of us. What a waste of a man, don’t you think? [winks at her]
Star:
Yeah, and I thought he was some sort of “misunderstood bad boy” but I guess I was wrong. He’s nothing but a wimp. The safest safety kid I’ve ever met. What a whiny crybaby. Oh, you wanna cry?
Jackie:
Uhm, Star? I think you’re overdoing it...
Star:
[mocking voice] Oh, look at me: I’m Marco Diaz and I think I’m so cool because I take karate lessons, but I still get beat up by an 8-year old. I can’t even confess my feelings to Jackie without the help of Star, I’m such a cute looking coward...
[Marco finally opens the door]
Marco:
Ugh, okay okay I get it, I’ll talk with you... just... stop please.
Star:
[to Jackie] You see? I knew it would work.
[Marco, Star and Jackie sit on the bed to talk]
Jackie:
Okay, first things first: Explain Star what happened at the party.
Star:
Wait, what?
Marco:
Well, you see Star: when… [takes a deep breath] when Jackie and I were at Alfonzo’s parents bedroom we… we were making out and… and...
Jackie:
Keep going...
Marco:
I… said your name because I was thinking about you.
[Star reacts with surprise while Marco just look down at the floor ]
Marco:
That’s it. And I’m really sorry Jackie. It’s not that I don’t like you or anything… It’s just tha...t I’m so confused since Star said she had a crush on me. I mean, before that I’ve always thought of you as a friend, but...
Star:
But…?
Marco:
I’m not gonna lie. I’ve fantasized about you a couple of times, you know… before I started to date Jackie… I think you’re pretty and… since we used to hang out together so many times, I... I guess I got the wrong idea about us.
Star:
No, no, don’t say that… This is also my fault. I’ve confessed my feelings at the wrong place at the wrong time because I thought I would never see you again, it is I who has to apologize.
Marco:
Don’t worry Star, I forgive you.
[They smile at each other and share a hug]
Star:
But Still… What I did at the party has no excuse, even if I was just trying to hide from Oskar. Jackie, I’m sorry for what happened and I promise it won’t ever happen again...
Jackie:
Yeah, about that... I was thinking...
Star:
[interrupting her] I mean, Marco is your boyfriend and I never should have done that to you. It’s just that…
Jackie:
Star, please let me finish...
Star:
[interrupting her again] After all, what is love? this wild, unpredictable thing that you can’t just get in control. One day you’re eating nachos in front of the TV next to a cute boy and then… you fall for that boy after realizing that he has a lot of things in common with you... and even if you think he will never reciprocate, that warm feeling to have him next to you is just… like… that feeling just don’t go away. It’s the same old story, boy meets girl, she likes him, but he likes someone else and… blah blah blah… anyway, the point is… just because we love the same boy doesn’t mean we can’t get along… just give me some time to figure things out and maybe...
Jackie:
I can share him with you if you want.
Star & Marco:
SAY WHAAAAAAT?
Jackie:
Yeah, that’s what I wanted to talk about with both of you. Look: I know how close you are, but I’ve always thought it was more like a brother-sister relationship. And don’t get me wrong: I have no problem with both of you dating as long as Marco is happy, but… I am still in love with him and... I was thinking that the best way to settle this argument is to let him decide which one of us loves the most… [sigh] I know it was a stupid idea, just forget of what I said please... [looks at the floor in embarrassment] I’ must be crazy...
Marco:
Jackie? Are you sure about this? like, maybe we should talk about this...
Star:
I’ll do it.
Marco:
SAY WHAAAAAT?
Star:
Yeah, I want to do it. If I have the chance to know if I’m the one you love the most, I’ll take it. Besides, if I have to share my boyfriend, at least I’m glad that is you Jackie.
Jackie:
I’m feeling the same way Star.
Marco:
Wow wow wow, hold on just. Can I have a word from all of this please?
Jackie:
Of course Marco, don’t you see? that 's the point. You’ll get the chance to date both of us and let your heart decide. No pressure, no grudges, just be sure to know what do you think is the right choice... What do you say?
Marco:
Well, it’s really weird that you’re willing to do this for me, but also I’m glad to hear it so… Okay, I’m in...
Star:
Great, now we can all be happy and I get the chance to get intimate with Marco. I’m so excited.
Jackie:
Mmmmm… Speaking of getting intimate: I’ve noticed that your parents aren’t home, is that right?
Marco:
Uhm, yeah, they’re in a meeting with the Morrissey's and won’t be back until tomorrow.
Jackie:
Perfect. That means we can begin with our little experiment right away.
Marco:
Wait, experiment? Do you mean…?
[Star and Jackie stare at Marco with a lascivious look. Jackie steps up to lock up the door. Marco’s heart keeps beating faster]
Jackie:
[grabbing Marco’s left arm] Consider this my gift to you.
Star:
[grabbing Marco’s right arm] This will be a night you will never forget.
Marco:
[blushing] Uhm, Girls? Can we take our time to talk about this...? [Star and Jackie start making out with him before he can finish]
[TIME CARD: TWO HOURS LATER]
[Cut to Marco, Star and Jackie under the bed sheets all sweaty and exhausted]
Jackie:
Wow… that was just… amazing...
Star:
I know right? I mean, I didn’t know you, we're so… experienced… Have you done this before?
Jackie:
Yeah, I thought you were a virgin.
Marco:
Well, you see, I...
Star:
It doesn’t matter. What is important is how we are gonna do it to share Marco from now on-
Marco:
Hey, I’m not a toy.
Jackie:
Relax, we won’t get carried away. We just want you to have the proper chance to spend all the time you need, no pressures, remember?
Marco:
Uhm, yeah I guess...
Star:
Okay, how about if we take turns day by day...
Marco:
Day by Day, don’t you think that...
Jackie:
[interrupting him] That’s brilliant. It’s like: I can have him on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays...
Star:
...And I can have him on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays...
Star & Jackie:
...And we have a threesome on Sundays.
Marco:
Nevermind.
Star:
Oh, Marco, I’ve got the feeling that the best days of our lives are about to begin.
Marco:
Yeah, sure... [narrating] ...and that’s how the most stressful days of my life began. Now, If you want to know how this is going to end, you’re asking the wrong person, cause to tell you the truth: not even I can comprehend any of this… Just hope for the best and wish me luck, because God knows I’m gonna need it.

Tumblr media
“Stephen, they got something,” Tony rushed into the conference room of the precinct and Stephen didn’t waste a second to follow him. They got to the lab and found Bailey standing by a member of his team who’s working the investigation. She was a small older woman but she seemed so nice and dedicated.
“This is one of my top analyst. Remember how I said Y/N might of left us a message?,” Bailey asks Stephen
“Yeah but she kept it short and simple. How could there possibly be a message?,”
Stephen was losing hope. He didn’t know things would turn out like this. He didn’t expect it things to go so South.
“Look at the screen,” the woman points, “It’s almost like Morse code,”
All Stephen and Tony could see were your words on the screen along with a strip of audio.
“Watch what I picked up,” the analyst said while clicking play.
“S-Stephen… you can’t h-help… there’s no m-me and you anymore. Stop looking for S-Steve. He wouldn’t h-hurt m-me. H-he.. I wish I h-had time t’explain e-everything. T-to d-do more and apologize w-with all my heart. M-me and Steve are g-going away, off the grid. I’m not m-missing. So just p-please don’t t-try t-to f-find m-me,”
Stephen just stares at the screen still not understanding.
“Notice her stuttering?,” the woman asks to which Stephen just nods, “Now while that might seem like a regular conversation from a nervous or scared woman. I’m gonna cut out all of the other audio and just highlight the stuttering,”
The analyst highlights parts on the audio and Stephen takes a seat to concentrate. Standing too long worried him, he had to force himself to sit still and listen.
“S-Stephen… h-help.. m-me… S-Steve… h-hurt.. m-me. H-he… h-had…. e-everything.. t-to d-do… w-with.. m-me.. g-going… m-missing.. p-please.. t-try t-to f-find m-me,”
“Now just let me remove the stuttering and make it cohesive aaaand here it is,”
“Stephen help me. Steve hurt me. He had everything to do with me going missing. Please try to find me,”
He stared at the computer screen wide eyed, “Play it again,”
“Stephen help me. Steve hurt me. He had everything to do with me going missing. Please try to find me,”
He smiled at the fact that you did in fact leave a message for him. He knew you wouldn’t leave him to go back to Steve. But even if you had left this message or not, how would this help them find you? There only lead was now empty.
“But how can we find her from this?,” Tony takes the words right out of his mouth.
“If I cut all the verbal audio out we can hear a passing train in the background. And someone asking what pump they were at. There’s only a select few gas stations and train stations in upstate New York by the barn you found. My guess is that he’s taking her near the Erie Canal just based off the audible landmarks,”
“The Erie Canal is huge. How are we supposed to find them before anything else happens?,” Tony asks while Stephen is trying his best to think of another way to find you but nothing is coming up, he’s drawing blanks. Now is not the time to draw blanks.
“Already sent my men out. Any idea why the Erie Canal?,”
Stephen stands up out of the chair in a flash and grabbed his jacket off the chair, getting ready to find you
“That’s where they met,”
——-
“Where are we?,” you ask Steve as you look around at the passing trees.
“Oh you don’t remember where we met?,”
“I tried to forget everything after I left,” you were out of tears. Your eyes burned from how dry they were. You’d been driving for a while now.
“Well I’m gonna refresh your memory,” he turned the radio off, “This is where we met those years ago. This is where we had our date when I asked you to move in with me. Even the place that we had planned to move after we got married. The area is so free and open. You loved that,”
“So you’re taking me here to what? Kill me?,”
“If it comes to it,”
You immediately threw up in the floor at the thought of him killing you. There wasn’t an ounce of humor in his voice, he was joking.
“You always did let your emotions get the best of you to be point you had to fucking puke,” he hit the steering wheel over and over again. You’d gotten so used to it that you didn’t flinch this time, “Now I gotta pull over it and fucking clean it,” he sucked his teeth in annoyance.
The smell was rancid as it was nothing but a bunch of stomach acid. He drove for a few more miles before finding another gas station that seemed to be empty other than the one worker.
Steve went inside to buy cleaning products. The man working watched Steve as he searched for good stuff to get not only the stain but the smell out as well. The worker looked to you and frowned when he saw you were handcuffed. His eyes widened as he looked to the little silent TV playing behind the counter and saw that you were the woman missing and Steve was the suspect.
The man tried to remain calm as he looked to Steve once he came up with all the products he needed. The man began ringing up the stuff and his eyes cut to you. Steve caught the action and arched an eyebrow before looking at the reflection in the glass behind the man that was playing the news and the story of you missing. Steve’s body hitched in laughter as he shook his head.
You knew he had a gun on him. You knew the man was thinking of a way to help you but you knew just your luck it wouldn’t be fast enough.
“That will be 21.37,” the man smiled tightly. He slowly reached for the call button and you weren’t sure what was happening but you saw Steve reach for his gun.
“No! No Noo no no no!,” you screamed and tried to break the handle off the roof
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Steve politely smiled at the man, gun now pointing at him
“You took a woman against her will, Captain,” the man hit the button to alert the police and the gun sounded off.
“NOO!,”
Steve ran out of the store and threw the cleaning supplies in the backseat and driving off
“You killed him! You didn’t have to kill him. Oh my God!,”
“If you don’t shut up you’re gonna be next!,”
“Steve, stop you’re insane! What is wrong with you?! What the fuck has gotten into you? Let me go, let me go! I hate you, I fucking hate you! How could I have ever loved you?!,”
Steve didn’t take kindly to your words. He didn’t think before knocking you out with the butt of the gun.
“Don’t lie to yourself,”
———
Stephen rode with Detective Bailey to the gas station that had sent the alert for police. The EMTs rushed the man into the ambulance and Bailey had to stop them to question him just real quick.
“He-he went that way,” he pointed North of the station, “She was handcuffed to the roof handle. Had a bruise on her cheek. Green pick up truck looked like an F-250. She looked terrified,”
Once Bailey got all the information he needed he went in the way that the man told him with Stephen.
“This place is huge, how are we gonna find them!?,” Stephen was pissed.
He felt at fault for this happening to you. Something must have gone wrong for Steve to act out like this. But Stephen didn’t have the time to think over it. He had to focus on getting you back.
“We have a couple of my men in the air. They spotted them near another barn near the woods,”
Stephen began to sweat, he hoped he got to you in time. He just caught a glimpse of the extent that Steve was willing to go to keep you, he could have killed a man. Stephen wasn’t sure if that man was gonna make it.
But he’ll make sure you do.
———
You felt your body being pulled out of the car when you woke up. You were in the middle of nowhere when he dragged you into the woods. Your head was pounding as your vision was still trying to come into focus.
You heard Steve cussing under his breath and you heard the faint sounds of helicopters in the air and police sirens.
“Can’t go that way. They’d expect the least expected,” he mumbled
“S-Steve,” you mumbled, “Just let me go, please. Just let me go and run. I won’t send them after you,”
“I couldn’t care less about them coming after me. If they do I’ll take us both out,”
You whimpered against his shoulder. This isn’t the way you wanted to go. You didn’t want to go by being killed by a man you once loved. A man who you had planned on marrying and having kids with. You didn’t want to go out that way.
You tried to push yourself away but his grip on you was too much. It was taking your breath away and not in a good way either.
“Don’t push me, Y/N,” he pushed you up against a tree, “Enjoy what few minutes you have left because by the sounds of it we’re not gonna make it,”
———
“They couldn’t have gotten far. Engine is still hot,” Detective Bailey said to himself, “Suspect is on foot. Armed. If found, proceed with caution,” he said into his walkie.
“Stephen, I’m gonna need you to stay here,”
“No!,” he protested, “I can’t just stay here. I have to be there, I can help,”
“This isn’t a field day, Stephen. I know that’s your girlfriend but she is a hostage now and we have to treat this situation with certain protocols. You showing up could send him over the edge,”
“She needs me!,” he’d gone red in the face. Stephen feared for you life and the outcome of this entire situation.
“She needs you to do everything you’re able to do so she’s stays alive, Stephen! Think about her! Think about how on edge he is. Anything can set him off and we don’t need that!,”
He knew detective Bailey had a point, he just couldn’t shake the feeling of not being there if anything happened. He wouldn’t forgive himself.
He doesn’t forgive himself now for the way things turned out.
———
“Steve, please th-they know we’re here. Don’t do this,” your breath shuttered as you felt the cold barrel press against your temple.
The officers swarmed and you saw Mel’s dad on the side lines with a bulletproof vest and a megaphone.
“Shut up, Y/N!,” his breathing seem labored as he looked for an escape.
You felt like you were about to pass out again. You couldn’t breathe, you didn’t wanna die. Not like this.
“Captain Rogers, you’re surrounded. Think about this! You let her go and we can work things out but if you hurt her we can’t help you,”
“I don’t want your fucking help!!,”
You felt the way his hand trembled with the gun in hand.
“S-Steve. Please. I love you don’t do this. I love you, I love you so much,” you sobbed. You weren’t sure where these tears came from but they added to the effect.
You looked around for Stephen but he was nowhere to be seen. You wanted to see him in case this was your last moment. Talk to him one last time
“You don’t love me! You hate me remember?!,” he pressed the gun harder to your head and you let out a whimper in fear
“I was just scared! I don’t wanna die but I don’t want them to take me away from you, please Steve. Make the right decision here. We don’t have to die. We can leave together,”
“You don’t mean that. You just want to be saved,” you weren’t sure what else to do. He was on to you. He wasn’t dumb.
“No! No Steve look me in my eyes!,” you turned to look at him and his hard glare softened, “I’ll be better! I-I won’t be selfish, I’ll love you unconditionally. I won’t complain. I promise. W-we can run away, have that wedding,” you held his face and held your forehead against his. Behind him you saw SWAT officers hide behind the trees.
“Just don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt yourself. We can’t live happily if you do that,” you wiped his tears
“I don’t know what’s going on, Y/N,” he sniffled, “One day I’m loving you the best I can and the next you’re gone and now we’re here, w-what happened?,”
His voice didn’t have that hard edge to it that it had with your time being taken. It had gone gentle and innocent. He really did seem lost and that had thrown you for a loop. It’s like something clicked back into place.
“We just made a bad judgement call,” you cry and caress his cheeks. You kissed his lips softly and it felt different and not in a bad way either. You couldn’t place your finger on it but you knew you had to do this to get out of here safely. It concerned you a bit that this seemed normal. It concerned you that you didn’t hate kissing him. It was like old times again and it made you cry harder.
“Y/N, I love you please don’t let them take me,” He gripped you tightly and was practically begging for his life. You weren’t sure what caused the change but either way, you had to get him help.
“I won’t. Just put your hands up and walk to them. I won’t let them hurt you,” he was going to listen. You saw a glimmer of hope, you had this, you were going to make it.
“Y/N!,”
You heard the trembling voice of the one man you’d been longing to save you. You saw the way a fire reigniting in Steve’s eyes and you knew that wasn’t a good thing. It wasn’t a good thing for Stephen to be here.
Steve turned you back around and had you in a choke hold with the gun pressed back against your temple. You screamed and Steve choked you harder.
“Steve, stop this!,”
“Stephen, we told you to stay where you were,”
He couldn’t take not seeing you. He couldn’t take not knowing what was happening but now he sees the consequences of his actions.
“Back the fuck up!!,” you could feel Steve’s hand trembling with the gun in his hand and that made you worry even more. He was unstable regardless but look at him now, Stephen being here only made it worse, as much as you loved him, it was true that he most likely ruined your chance to get out of here.
“Steve, you don’t have to do this. If you love her you’ll let her go,” Stephen set his hands up to show Steve he had no weapons but Steve wasn’t stupid. He knew what Stephen could do.
“I’m doing this because I love her,” he was trembling and crying, nerves shot as he was surrounded, this wasn’t good, it never was good, “I am what is best for her and if no one can see that then I will do what I have to,” he cocked the gun and you screamed even louder
“No, no no, Steve, please, FUCK! don’t do this, please,” you couldn’t breathe, everything was going dark. If Steve didn’t kill you, the stress of all of this would, “Baby, please, I love you. Only you! Remember? No one can love me like you, this is real, gritty and gorgeous, this is love,”
You had to use his words against him. Stephen knew your game but it didn’t hurt any less to hear you say those words.
Steve let his guard down and Stephen sent a glowing orange rope his way, but at the very last minute he moved and the rope hit you in your stomach, creating a searing gash, causing you to groan out a deep shout as you felt your dirty work uniform sopping up the blood that was now gradually coming out from your wound.
“Oh God,”
He didn’t mean to, fuck no no no.
“He hurt you, baby,” Steve whispered in your ear. You didn’t have the energy to keep tally of who was hurting you more. You just wanted to get out of here alive and those odds were looking real slim.
“S-Steve... S-St-Stephen,” you noticed the way your vision started to tunnel.
“Steve we’ve got to get her to a hospital!,” Detective Bailey shouted, “C’mon, son, she’d bleeding faster now, don’t you want to see the woman you love survive,”
There was no bringing the old Steve back. He was long gone and whatever signs of the old Steve that you were seeing before, they’re long gone now, like ripped to shreds and burned type gone.
“She should have never left! I would never have hurt her like this,”
Your body was roaring in pain and it was fighting against everything that was telling it to just surrender and shut down.
“Steve... I,”
Your body began to feel heavy in his arms and he started freaking out. Stephen noticed the way your body began to look limp in Steve’s grasp and he had only one way to handle this.
“If you’re gonna kill anyone... kill me,”
“S-Stephen no,” you’re gagged when Steve’s arm tightens even more, literally almost completely cutting off your air supply. He wanted you to teeter on the edge of death. He wanted you to know the power he had over you.
“It’s me you want to hurt. Not Y/N. It’s me you’re upset with because I’m with her, so shoot me!,”
“Stephen what the hell!,” Detective Bailey shouts, “You outta your mind?!,”
Steve knew he was right. He kept his tight hold around your neck and pointed the gun at Stephen. You didn’t have anymore energy to scream. You couldn’t make it.
“I’m going cold,” you whimper. Everything was painful. You were panicking, this isn’t how you wanted to go, “No no, no, I- I’m going c-cold,”
“Shoot me! Do it, fucking shoot me!!,” Stephen screamed over your crying. He need Steve to shoot the gun.
“She’s dying, might as well kill me too!,”
Steve did it. He shot the gun. Stephen was right. You were dying, what else did he have to live for? So he just shot it. What he wasn’t expecting was the way Stephen’s arms moved in an hypnotizing manner to open an orange portal and the searing pain that came through his own back.
Steve cough and his grip loosened on the gun and you, causing you both to fall to the ground with heavy weight of being damn near lifeless. Steve cough again, blood sputtering out of his mouth. He fell to his knees right beside you and fell face first, eyes meeting yours.
“My best girl,” was the last thing he said before both of you closed your eyes to succumb to the darkness that has been gradually consuming you.
Stephen ran to you in a flash and held your body close to you, slapping your cheek to try and wake you up. He could go back in time and change things, he could go back and not have come up that hill to see you. You would have made it, he should go back, but something told him not to. He could bring you back and get rid of the memory that any of this happened... but what lie would you be living?
But look at how you died. It was partially his fault. Had he not attacked, you would have still had a fighting chance. It’s all shoulda, coulda, woulda. He should bring you back, but he knew he would be able to look you in the face and continue to love you knowing he had a hand in your death.
He had no idea what drove Steve to this stage of mania but he hated him for it. He should bring him back just to kill him a thousand times over. Stephen was so deep into his own mind that he didn’t hear the sirens or feel the officers trying to pull you out of his grasp.
He held it together when they tried to shock you back awake. Nothing worked. He could hear the screams and sobs of Melanie when Detective Bailey called her. You were her only true friend aside from her wife. Now you’re gone because of what?
You’d gone grey so fast, there were so many factors to you dying. Too many head injuries, stress and anxiety and Stephen being an idiot and attacking.
He didn’t cry at your funeral. It’s not your fault you had an insane ex, but it was his fault for not doing something about it sooner. He owed it to you to not bring you back. You wouldn’t have gone for it anyway. You always believed in “you time is your time, no matter how you go”
He had to fight himself everyday to not go again your will.
But that didn’t stop him from going to your meadow where he’d see you running around in your field of flowers, no dark clouds, no tears, just smiles and sun.
He wouldn’t make contact though.
Even though he was the one to show you this realm... he knew you wouldn’t remember him.

I won’t let them hurt you,”
He genuinely looked scared and you heard the thud of the gun hit the crunchy leaves.
“Lets go,”
Steve raises his hands and you turned around and raised your hands as well, “Don’t shoot! Don’t hurt him,” your voice shook as you began walking forward into the clearing toward Detective Bailey. Over to the left you can see Stephen in a car waiting for you. You gasped for air but you shake your head to tell him not to come to you. You didn’t want to set Steve off.
“Don’t hurt him,” you whisper to Detective Bailey, “I’m fine. Let him go,”
“Are you insane, dear?,” the man flipped his jacket back and stood with his hands on his hips, “Even If I didn’t charge him with kidnapping, he still attempted to kill someone else,”
You couldn’t argue with that. But something didn’t sit right with the way Steve acted back there. Like he was asleep in his own mind and just randomly woke up here.
“H-he’s sorry. I’m fine. H-he just..,” you couldn’t explain his actions. There was no explanation for this, “Don’t arrest him for this. Maybe the other thing but he’s sorry- I... I can’t live knowing I put him away forever,”
“I’ll see what I can do, dear,”
An officer came up and put Steve in cuffs. He didn’t fight it, he just looked at you with tear filled eyes as he was read his Miranda Rights. He looked so soft and lost, just like the first time you two met.
“You’re always gonna be my best girl,” was his last words before he was put in the back of the cop car and driven off. Another officer used a skeleton key to get your cuffs off, you saw the way they left bloody tracks and you fell to your knees. You’d been gone for days. You didn’t have any shoes, you were still in your work uniform. You felt disgusting, everything hurt, though the gun was gone, you still felt like you weren’t gonna make it.
“Y/N!,” you looked up and saw Stephen running up to you. You tried your best to stand up without falling over and were lucky when he caught you, “I was worried sick. I-I wasn’t sure what was gonna happen,”
“You got my message. Y-you looked for me, you looked for me. You found me,” your eyes hurt so much from crying and lack of sleep. You were exhausted.
“I love you so much,” he held your face as if you were a beautiful glass doll, he didn’t want risk you breaking in his grasp,
“I love you, Stephen. So much,”
He didn’t have the time to be taken aback at the fact you said you loved him. He had to take care of you.
“We’re gonna get you to the hospital. Check your head and get you home okay?,”
You swallowed thickly, your mouth as dry as the desert, “Please. H-he kept knocking me out, my head is killing me,” your vision had yet to clear up, everything was hazy and it worried you.
Stephen carried you to the car and buckled you up and had Detective Bailey drive you to the hospital.
“Everything is gonna be okay now,”
———
You ended up with a bad concussion. You were told to just rest and replenish your body, you were given pain medication and you were well off. Stephen made sure not to leave your side as you’d now have nightmares of being taken again.
Wong sat outside the door while Stephen went to take care of some business. He told Wong that if you woke up then to tell you that he was out getting some more stuff for you.
But really he went to the precinct to see Steve.
“I’m sorry things turned out this way,”
Steve sat up at the sound of the voice.
“I didn’t mean for you to go to these lengths,” Stephen sighed and wiped his face, “She was just feeling so unloved by you and I knew I could give her what you weren’t. Now she’s... she’s traumatized,”
Steve walked towards the bars and stared at the man in confusion, “What are you talking about?,”
“I heard her complaining one night at the diner, that you were ignoring her and spending time with other people rather than her and how she was hurt and I knew then and there that I had to do something,”
———
“I don’t think he loves me anymore,” you subtly wiped a tear and sniffled as Melanie was rubbing your back
“I’m sure he does. Maybe he’s just going through a lot and doesn’t want to take it out on you,”
Melanie wasn’t good with giving advice on heterosexual relationships. But she tried for you, she couldn’t stand to see you this upset.
“I don’t know, Mel,”
Stephen sat in the corner and heard how upset you were. He knew who Steve was, he’d come in a few times during your shift to drop off a late dinner then after a while he stopped.
This was all before the diner changed locations.
Days after he saw you crying. Steve came into the diner to give you flowers and you were fine again. Stephen couldn’t stand to see the way Steve would hurt you then try to use flowers as a bandaid.
That night he followed Steve out of the diner and into the deserted parking lot.
“Captain,” Stephen stopped short of him.
Steve turned around and frowned at the man, “And you are?,”
Stephen didn’t reply, he just did a weird motion with his hands before sending an orange circle his way. Steve just stood there, not sure of what just happened but the way he was feeling pissed him off. His body was filled with so much disdain.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? Stay the hell away from me,” Steve damn near broke the door off the car to get inside and sped away.
“You won’t put her through anymore hurt. She’ll see,”
———
“I didn’t expect you to go crazy,”
“S-so you did this to me? Just to get Y/N all for yourself?,”
“It was better that way. You were hurting her,”
“And because of you I hurt her more than I could ever consciously do,”
Stephen knew that this much was indeed his fault. But at least Steve had scared you enough to never even consider getting back with him. You were safer with Stephen. You needed someone secure like Stephen.
“All the yelling I did. Things I said to her, w-was your doing?!,” Steve pulled at the bars to try and get out but they were made to keep him in, “You- you ruined everything and Y/N doesn’t even know!,”
All the therapy sessions made sense. Steve’s conscious wanted to get better because he knew something in him wasn’t right. It all made sense why he’d snap in and out of it when he took you. He never wanted to hurt you.
Stephen watched the blond pull at his roots.
“She doesn’t need to know,”
“She deserves to know what you’ve done!,” Steve felt like the walls were closing in on him, he was experiencing the worst anxiety attack of his life.
Sure he hadn’t been treating you right for a bit. But the workload that was placed upon him was a lot and it was then he knew he had to quit to be there for you and just have that perfect life of love and prosperity... until something made him not want to quit and his anger towards you grew with no explanation until now.
“I came here to speak the truth. Not ask for forgiveness or find a way to fix this. She trusts me now. She loves me now, she feels safe with me and I will continue to give her all the reasons to,”
Stephen began to walk away and Steve screamed for him to stop.
“Get me out of here! Get your ass back here right now! I don’t deserve to be in this position. Get me out!,”
———
Stephen crawled into bed and you curled into him, stirring a bit.
“I got your favorites since we’ll be here for a bit,” he whispered to your tired body.
You cracked your eyes open and smiled at him.
“Thank you for and saving me,” you rested your head on his chest and heard his steady heartbeat.
“Anything for you, Y/N,”
And he meant that.
“And loving me until I loved myself as well,”
