One thing about my worldbuilding that isn't really important, I just think it's cute: the Pokemon anime is a TV show within the main gameverse and it's meant to educate kids about certain Pokemon while telling it's own story that's very, very, verrry loosely based on Red's journey.
#saying bc castor caught a few episodes of it and hes a fan#i take a few things from it or at least inspirations from it but for the most part its its own thing#also i think red watches the show and really likes it. hes really flattered. blue thinks gary is funny as hell#the main thing i take is the implications behind meowth's character but he's not a legit example of a pokemon learning to talk#idk if that makes sense. also humans assume that each and every pokemon speak the same language#when... its not like they cannot communicate with each other. this is where aura and telepathy kind of come in#every pokemon is capable of some form of telepathy that varies among species#but untrained- they can talk with their own species and others within that family- like canine pokemon can talk to each other#but otherwise nope. they cant really talk with one another. at least not inherently#its something a pokemon can be trained to do like extend their telepathy so that feline and equine pokemon can hear them#and it takes a LOT to learn how to do that with a human#usually caught pokemon naturally learn to do this since theyre usually exposed to a ton of different pokemon#... mayyyybe theres a quality in pokeballs that helps with that? i dont know i havent figured that out yet#also its easier to learn how to hear other species talk than it is to actually speak it#so a lot of caught pokemon can understand what their trainer is saying and ofc can hear battle commands#but they wont be able to actually talk to them#in pmd however this is all completely out the window. all pokemon understand one another and they also understand humans#bc their auras evolved overtime so that telepathy with all pokemon is natural to them#idk why that is yet exactly... i have to iron that out but these are my ideas for now#maybe it was something the legendaries did... it could also just be a side effect of pokemon growing to have their own civilizations#it is VERY weird for castor when he enters bc he hadnt learned telepathy with every type yet but suddenly bam he knows everything#and its very surreal to him to suddenly have a steelix talking to him#echoed voice

Winry?,,, from fma???,,, in 2022??????????? It’s more likely than u think babe
Also I understand that anime has its own art style and such, but I’m tired of characters in their early teens looking like young adults. I find it way more fun to try and draw a 15 year old as, well… a 15 year old?? Also because this is fma, I feel like it makes the story way more impactful bc their literally children???????
It doesn’t need to be anything super specific or hyper realistic, but I just think it’s more interesting to find ways to show a character’s age in their design (among other traits and qualities ofc)

May we also mention she is perfectly fine with leaving Higgs in solitary confinement for a year and since time moves differently on The Beach it has been longer for him and she is willing to sacrifice B.Bs in the name of progress and Sam was going to be one of them if Cliff didn’t do something
Extremely valid points! Amelie showed no concern whatsoever for Higgs' safety after he was stranded, no remorse for the human sacrifice that went into constructing the chiral network (which ofc other characters are also complicit in), and took very little accountability for cursing Sam with immortality and presumably eternity on the Beach once he finally perma-dies, as his soul is seemingly unable to cross into the afterlife... It was a selfish decision of her that, per the novel, "made the world scream."
It's worth acknowledging that Bridget and Amelie seemed to make decisions somewhat separately from one another, and Bridget's lack of a soul made her act without the moral and emotional sentiments that we'd expect, but in dealing with the aftermath, Amelie still made the choice to break the world and damn Sam to permanent disconnection from the natural cycle of life and death. Also, we can only assume from context that Amelie was fine with stealing Sam from his family and making him into a sacrificial lamb. Amelie must have agreed with Bridget's course of action up to that point. This theme is similar to Coffin saying "so many sacrifices, I prayed that one would be the last" about Peter, as the somewhat more justifiable parallel--and that's only because Coffin was earnestly trying to save children, openly took responsibility for the harm she did, and genuinely, dearly loved Peter like he was her own flesh and blood son.
I see a lot of misogyny regarding Amelie (not cool) in the DS fandom, especially on reddit, and conversely, a lot of apologism and radfem-adjacent sentiments that imply or state she's somehow above criticism. It's not misogynistic to critique a fictional woman for harmful and abusive actions. It's not misogynistic to call out behavior separate of identity.
Overall, I think Amelie is a downright fascinating character with myriad layers of tragedy and nuance, and she's a core part of the story that can't be dismissed or downplayed. She has redeeming qualities and she's a powerful figure. She makes a purely selfless decision in the end and goes out as a hero redeemed (partially, in my mind but I digress). It's good writing! I get why some people like her and I respect that! However, I can't get down with excusing or minimizing her actions, especially by hurling accusations at people who point these things out. Amelie's emotional and psychological abuse of Higgs and Sam resonates heavily with my own experience of having an abusive mother--among other female family members--and I see a lot of my past religious abuse in what she did to Higgs. It's personal for me.
If the gender dynamics were reversed, if Higgs were a woman and Amelie a man, I guarantee you people would not hesitate to call it abuse.

👣. !!: HIS BACKGROUND ‧₊˚
↺ 💌 ࣪ ˖ ∿ author’s note , @ tw : mentions of transphobia, mental health issues, gender dysphoria, mentions of illegally obtaining gender affirming care, mentions of top surgery, mentions of being outed
okay so. yeonu has definitely not had a very nice life as hinted through the trigger warnings ofc, but also i actually wasn’t planning on his trans status being made public until i was reading this fic and i had a moment lol so now i need to revise some bits from the profile chapter, but anyways enjoy!!
Tumblr media
⊂ HIS ✶ CHILDHOOD ⊃
Tumblr media
KIM YEONU'S story begins not as the person now adored by the world but as someone once known by a different name and set of pronouns that never quite felt right. Initially introduced to the world as Kim Yoonha, the first child born to parents Kim Taeho and Park Eunju, she charmed everyone with her sweet disposition, her chubby cheeks reminiscent of dumplings making her an instant favorite.
AS YOONHA grew, her interests diverged from the stereotypical expectations for girls her age. While other girls cherished dolls and traditional feminine roles, Yoonha found joy in playing with cars, cranes, and often took on the role of a husband in make-believe scenarios. This distinction stirred reactions among her playmates; while some boys accepted her choices, others demanded conformity to what they considered the “correct” roles. As a result, she found her place among the girls who embraced her unconventional preferences, allowing her to embody the role of a husband without judgment.
AT THIS STAGE, nothing felt overtly out of place. Yoonha recognised her interests didn't align with typical gender expectations but believed in embracing individual differences. Her friendships remained robust, spanning both boys and girls in her kindergarten. Many admired her unconventional qualities, viewing a “tomboyish” girl as cool during that period.
AS YEONU began elementary school, however, a watershed moment unraveled—a realisation that would forever alter the course of his understanding of self. It was a defining juncture, the genesis of an awareness that he was unequivocally not a girl. A curriculum lesson detailing the impending physical changes of puberty in girls struck Yeonu with terror. The thought of breast development, broader hips, and menstruation sent shivers down his spine.
THIS REACTION felt foreign, triggering an overwhelming sensation in his chest. A request to use the restroom led to Yeonu's first panic attack at the tender age of nine. He couldn't fathom undergoing these changes, a sentiment that only intensified as he gazed at his female classmates. The prospect of transitioning into womanhood was anathema to him.
THUS BEGAN YEONU'S quest for knowledge, an ardent pursuit to understand the changes that puberty brought. The deeper he delved into the contrasting trajectories of male puberty, the more profound his yearning grew. He craved a deep voice, strength, and stature—a desire that seemed unattainable. Was there no solution? Did he have to resign himself to this fate? The aversion to being seen as a woman consumed him, perplexing and tormenting his young mind.
THE INTERNAL STRUGGLE consumed him, his once-vibrant spirit waning. His parents, especially Eunju, discerned the gradual shift in their daughter's demeanor—withdrawn, subdued, and haunted by an invisible burden. Attempts to probe met a wall of silence; Yoonha feared revealing the truth, deeming these sentiments a form of psychological ailment. How could she change what nature had dictated? Were these yearnings for boyhood merely irrational?
AT HIS LOWEST, Kim Taeho, the steadfast figure in Yeonu's life, intervened. Always closer to her father, Yoonha sought solace in his comforting embrace, finally revealing the depths of her anguish. Tears flowed freely as Yoonha clung to her father, though in that embrace, she was not his daughter anymore.
HE HAD A SON. Kim Taeho's understanding surpassed Yoonha's expectations. It was he who illuminated the concept of transitioning, imparting a profound truth—“You were always a boy, sweetheart.”
AND IT WAS ALWAYS KIM TAEHO. He employed the male pronouns, renaming Yoonha to Yeonu, walking alongside him steadfastly through the journey of transition, affirming the essence of becoming his true self as a man.
⊂ PRE ✶ DEBUT ⊃
Tumblr media
YEONU'S MOTHER reacted with palpable disapproval upon learning about Taeho and their child's transgender identity. For Yeonu, the stinging ache of his mother's immediate rejection became a shattering heartbreak, a pain he believed to be the deepest cut to his soul. Initially engulfed by a tumultuous struggle, he found strength through Taeho's unwavering support, even in the face of unrelenting hostility from others.
HIS FATHER STOOD as a shield, a pillar of light. Understanding the profound impact of female puberty on Yeonu's mental well-being, he arranged for puberty blockers, defying legal restrictions to shield his son from the changes that caused distress. Taeho's acts, though illegal, were driven solely by his desire to see his son find happiness.
WHEN YEONU EMBARKED on his path at BigHit Entertainment however, Taeho grappled with fear for his son's well-being. Aware of society's treatment of those diverging from societal norms, he strove tirelessly to maintain a constant presence in Yeonu's life, visiting frequently to ensure his son's welfare. However, for the adolescent navigating the complex terrain of transitioning into male puberty, these frequent visits proved stifling. Yeonu found himself caught between the protective gestures of his father and the desire for independence that came with this new chapter in his life.
THE PRESENCE OF Taeho visiting him often felt suffocating for Yeonu. The fear of being perceived as incapable or less “manly” by his peers in the company's environment spiked his anxiety. The prospect of his fellow trainees catching him in conversation with his father stirred an embarrassment that threatened to overshadow his desire to establish his identity independently. This dynamic birthed a subtle divide in their relationship—a time when Yeonu struggled to fend off his father's concerns, yearning to carve his path in music while attempting to distance himself from his father's constant worries.
AFTER A HEARTFELT one to one, Yeonu had been able to embrace his authentic self. The prospect of dwelling in a dorm surrounded by boys didn't daunt him. Having grown up among guys, often engaging with his brother's friends during sleepovers, this new chapter felt natural, fitting, and undeniably right. Yeonu's encounter with Namjoon remains etched vividly in his memory, a poignant moment marking the start of a new journey. The puberty blockers had started to make way for actual testosterone injections, leaving newcomers clueless as to Yeonu’s transgender status.
ALTHOUGH YEONU found comfort and acceptance among his fellow trainees—Namjoon, Hoseok, and Yoongi, he understood the importance of presenting as male in public spaces. The idea of “passing” carried significant weight, shielding him from the prejudgments of strangers. Despite the warm friendship he shared with the boys, he withheld the truth about his identity, a choice he made to navigate the complexities of acceptance and societal biases.
DURING HIS TIME as a trainee, Yeonu reveled in conversations about music, sports, and the casualness of late-night escapades. He cherished these moments of unguarded bonds, feeling at home amidst these men who shared similar interests and experiences. Though he contemplated the prospect of coming out, he found no immediate urgency in doing so, viewing it as a decision he would reserve for a later time. His resolve was firm: should he secure a spot in the final lineup, only then would he choose to reveal his truth to his fellow members.
AND SECURE HE DID. Yeonu, a dedicated hard worker brimming with an unyielding spirit, became part of a group that would later be known as the Bulletproof Boy Scouts, alongside Namjoon, Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jeongguk. Embracing these companions, he fostered a deep bond with each, cherishing shared aspirations.
HOWEVER, DESPITE his deep affection for the group, Yeonu found himself dealing with a difficult truth. The promise he made to reveal his identity slipped further from his grasp as the weight of potential repercussions loomed large. The fear of rejection, the haunting specter of being shunned or even ejected from the group, plagued his thoughts relentlessly. These apprehensions stifled his resolve to come out, compelling him to continue presenting himself as a cis man, even well into their debut.
⊂ DEBUT ✶ & BEYOND ⊃
Tumblr media
IT WAS ACTUALLY quite early on into their debut that Yeonu had gone into surgery. The puberty blockers, although halted his female puberty, had only been able to be administered once he actually started puberty in the first place, leaving behind slight breast development that needed getting rid of. Nobody was made aware of what Yeonu’s surgery was actually for, instead being informed of a vague medical issue that’s been bothering the male for a long time.
THINGS WERE GOING WELL. Apart from being slightly reserved when it came to things like showering and changing completely butt booty naked in front of the others, Yeonu raised zero suspicions. He was quickly building a rapport for himself as a rookie rapper within the idol industry, and BTS as a whole were rising amongst the ranks with a solid promise of young talent.
BUT JUST AS QUICKLY AS they were rising, so were the growing number of haters that wished to break them down. It wasn’t long at all before malicious individuals would start digging into the members’ personal lives, scavenging for anything at all to make them look bad or raise eyebrows that would point and laugh and mock. And of course, it was poor old Yeonu that would take the fall for the ill intentions of others.
IT HADN’T ACTUALLY BEEN revealed that Yeonu was transgender. His family had done well to conceal traces of their son’s old identity apart from a few baby photos that would surface of Yeonu wearing dresses and honing slightly long hair. It got people questioning, brewing rumours that he was definitely born a woman while others would say that perhaps he just enjoyed dressing up as a kid and his parents would indulge him, but obviously people like a story. They went with the transgender theory, and soon that was all that anyone would talk about.
THE MEMBERS ALL HAD mixed reactions initially. Namjoon, who often delved into queer culture and history, had simply been a little surprised whilst others were confused, torn or anxious. Yeonu was in the heap of a mental breakdown at the news, shrivelling in on himself as he attempted to come to terms with his current situation.
IT WAS A TERRIFYING experience. He remembers the days in which the media would bombard him with questions, asking him to address the rumours and calling him by female pronouns. He remembers going on variety shows and feeling sorry for his fellow members when the questions would simply just get turned around to him possibly being transgender instead of actually talking about their latest comeback. He dealt with much abuse at this time from a lot of people, and it drained him in every way.
IT HAD EVEN REACHED a point in time in which Yeonu had expressed feelings of leaving the group altogether. From the constant abuse and judgment, topped with his crippling mental health, he was beginning to lose his will—he was losing faith in everything that he fought so hard for.
BUT THIS WAS WHEN the rest of Bangtan really pulled through for their Kim Yeonu. He was one of their own and there was no way in hell that they were simply going to sit by as those around them began treating the boy differently over something he couldn’t control. Of course they couldn’t be harsh to these interviewers and media outlets, but they were firm in their stance that Yeonu was no different to any of them. He was a boy. That was the end of that.
THINGS, ALTHOUGH still troublesome, got easier when the boys rallied up beside him in solidarity. They were the bulletproof shields that kept Yeonu intact for as long as he still stays standing to this day. The media had doubled down on the boys after noticing their unwavering loyalty to each other, attempting to pit them against the ‘black sheep’ of the group and disrupt their harmony.
IT NEVER WORKED. In fact, as the years had gone by, BTS only seemed to grow and rise in popularity as they began doing shows abroad, touring various countries and selling out shows completely. Yeonu stood tall and proud amongst his members and he would even be accepted and admired by overseas audiences, catapulted by some liberal interviewers that showered him in praises over his achievements as a queer artist.
IT HAD SPREAD AN inkling of warmth to hear such comforting words after years of struggle. It just goes to show that perseverance, against all odds, does indeed yield its deserved harvest.

heyy i think studying the trend of ts4 stories editing style will really help you improve your visuals. I know that picking an aesthetic is a choice & i honestly think you should stick to what you like instead of following the mainstream but popular stories are popular for a reason & you might engage more readers by following their storytelling formats (ex: using captions instead of text bubble, using different reshade/gshade based on the mood of the scene, show your sims moodlets, etc.) but ofc popularity isn’t everything and you have loyal readers already so i’m just gonna root for you & wish u good luck❤️
Hi anon, and thank you for your message and recommendation!
I hear you and you're surely right about what is popular, but I see how most TS4 players do their storytelling, and I personally find those visuals rather standard and uninspiring. I believe the word that you used is key: it is a trend. Which means, for one, that it can be a temporary thing, but above all, that it isn't necessarily an improvement.
Typically, captions. There is a reason why speech bubbles or their equivalents are widely used in comics and graphic novels: they are easy to understand at a glance for the reader, and versatile enough for the author to convey the proper tone. Captions hamper creativity and readability, imho.
I do like the effect of Reshade or Gshade or other -shades. I tried installing it, wasted a whole day, failed, was disappointed, uninstalled it and never touched it again. And then I thought: I spend a lot of time selecting my decor and background. I want them to be visible, not blurred. I want the details to be seen in their entirety. It's true that blurry backgrounds and dreamy filters make for pretty, atmospheric pictures. But do I want my story to be atmospheric? No, that's not my purpose. I want my story to be emotional, gripping, interesting. I'd like the reader to focus on the dialogues, the characters' face, the actual content of the story, not the feel of it. To me, visuals enhance a story when they explain by themselves who the character is and what they think. They don't need to be sophisticated to do that.
(Not to mention that Reshade is capable of putting a strain on my computer and I don't want it to overheat. The game already crashes enough as it is.)
I know it's just an idea among others, but showing moodlets is not something I will ever do because I don't do gameplay. I just tell a story using the Sims 3 as a medium. Many of those popular trends do not apply to my style, in fact.
If anything, I'd like my story to be read like a manga, not watched like a Netflix series. My stubborn use of speech bubbles and detailed backgrounds is what makes me different, and maybe that doesn't coincide with popular.
Because in the end, "popular" is just that: defined by prevalence but bearing no guarantee as to quality or innovation.
I thank you for rooting for me and thank you again for taking the time to send me a message, because somehow my head is clearer now about what I want and do not want for my story. I have no idea whether or not my visuals are globally appealing to other people, but *I* like them as they are. I'm willing improve technically, if I believe it will bring something essential to my work as a whole, something I'm missing for it to make sense. I get that my aesthetic may seem outdated to some, and it is unfortunate that so few people are ready to give my story a chance, but just like you said, I have a bunch of loyal readers and that is priceless!

Simon Headcanons!!
Simon Cambourne 20/02/1933 (Pisces), 11 years old.
Simon has epilepsy and takes Phenobarbital (The most effective anti-seizure drug created in 1912) to prevent the seizures. Because of this, he was considered the nutty boy not because of the seizures but because of the constant drowsiness and lack of muscle coordination. Taking this drug also made him one of the first bigguns to hit puberty early, so I assume he had a lot of voice cracks while on the island + constant seizures thanks to the lack of medication.
His seizures scare the other boys A LOT. On the second or third night on the island, they all thought Simon was dying (Mostly because they didn't know he had epilepsy) or possessed. Simon's fits were among several things that instilled panic among the littluns, even before the idea of a beast existing between them.
He's such a momma's boy. He is so kind and gentle but whenever he makes his mom mad she just goes "SIMÓN" and scolds him in Spanish. But at the end of the day, he will always be her little prince, and they're so adorable for that aaa :'3
However, I don't think he has siblings. He's an only child BUT, he has a ton of cousins (like the average Latino family lol), being one of the oldest. He enjoys seeing the rest of his family, mainly because he visits them sporadically. Whenever he gets the chance, he spends a lot of time playing with his cousins.
This doesn't make him good with the littluns at all. He's kind and helps them get fruit the same way he helped his cousins tie their shoes, but spending days and days to an end with crying children is pretty much different than seeing them twice a year.
His family circle consists of him, his mother, and his father. Both parents work at the hospital, so it's easy for him accessing to healthcare and medicaments.
His mom became a nurse after learning about Simon's condition. She spent too much time in the hospital and eventually became a nurse there.
Simon's relationship with his dad is just meh. I mean, he's there, but at the same time, he's not. Compared to Ralph's relationship with his father, Simon's is even colder and more formal. His dad always seems super tired and prefers to stay in his office than go home. Simon only sees him around whenever he needs a medication refill, so it's like having more of a doctor than a dad.
His intuition is always on point. Ofc he doesn't know why it's so easy for him to know what could happen next, but he always has a gut feeling, and he's always right. The first night on the island everyone was chilling, and he was already like "Oh it's so over". Some people call it anxiety, but let's all assume it's because he reads too many novels.
His favourite celebration is Christmas because it is one of the few times he has dinner with both his parents, and he can sit at the top of the table. He finds so much joy in being in a suit and eating and sharing a moment with someone close.
His love languages are quality time and acts of service :3c
He is not sure what he wants to do when he grows up. He would have been a great teacher if he had had better experiences with his teachers. He would have been either a biology teacher or done something related to social studies (philosophy, sociology, anthropology and all those things that went boom after WW2).
He's a below-average student, always taking make-up tests. He feels so guilty because he cannot control sleeping in class, and even if he never skips school, he still has to ask for his classmate's notes. He sucks at History because he only listens to what he is interested in (canon).
He doesn't have friends. During recess, he either goes into a bathroom stall until the bell goes off or just... stands there awkwardly. The choristers are more like a mixture of acquaintances and work buddies.
He's the newest addition to the choir. It was several months ago, almost a year, but he still has to pay his dues and is left to the side, and fainting does not help him at all.

Adam, wake up. (Adam Stanheight x Reader) P1
This is my first attempt at anything in the Saw fandom, so pls be nice! OFC there's gonna be Gore. Some angst, but will be fluffy in the end.
I wake up to a grim feeling in my stomach. Something felt... off. Adam hadn't messaged me goodnight the last few nights, and that was odd. When we weren't together, he would always wish me a good night: I rarely responded, but he knew you saw them. It was an endearing quality about him, among many others. I loved that about him.
I felt off last night when I didn't hear the ding from AOL, but I fell asleep thinking he possibly forgot. Though the sinking weight in my abdomen tells me otherwise. I slowly raise my body and set in motion your routine, though you couldn't shake the feeling. I kept waiting for a ding: something to indicate he was okay. Something was begging, pleading with me to go to his apartment.
Eventually, the weight couldn't be ignored anymore. Heading out the door, I took one last look at my shit-hole apartment and took off. I happen to live down the same shitty hallway of the same shitty complex: convenient. Banging on the door, I yell, "Adam, let me in. Don't tell me you fell asleep drunk!".
No reply. Even weirder, as he's an incredibly light sleeper. He'd groan and moan about how every bump in the night woke him up all the time to me. He must not be there.
I know what he did for work, so he can't be out this early in morning. Something was wrong.
I grabbed the key he gave me in case of an emergency, and I opened his door. I'd consider this an emergency: he could be dead or who knows what.
When I peered in, it was pitch black. I try to flick the light the switch on, but nothing comes on. The power must be out in his apartment. I reach for the blackout curtain he has up and pull.
When the curtains open, I see what could only be described as a struggle. There's trash everywhere, and all the furniture seems to have been knocked out of place. The only thing that caught my eye above the rest was the creepy ass doll sitting in the middle of the room. It reeked a sinister aura, and if it wasn't for my intense like of Adam, I would have gotten my ass out of there.
But, perhaps to a fault, I did like Adam, so I continued in. I noticed the creepy doll had a flip phone in it's hand and its other hand was closed around something. As I look around, I see Adam's expensive camera broken on the ground. Considering this camera was practically his life life, he has to be in trouble for it to be in pieces. I peer at the phone in the doll's hand: it seems like it's taunting me into trying something. I slowly reach for the phone, scared it may jump at me. When I grab it, the doll begins laughing. I jump about 10 feet in the air, and when it stops, it begins to speak.
"Hello, Adam's friend. I want to play a game." It cackles.
"What the f-" I yell.
"Your dear friend is in a bit of a predicament right now. He has failed my game: but through no fault of his own. He is, simply put, dying, as I speak. I have noticed you are quite close with him." It giggles.
"Where is he?!" I beg. I need Adam.
"I am a fair man, (Y/N). So, I have decided to allow you to play one of my games to save him. Do you value your friend enough to risk life and limb for him? Make your choice." The doll croaks.
The phone I grabbed starts ringing.
I hesitantly flipped the phone open. Unknown number. I shake as I click the answer button.
A strangled gasp - it's the first thing I hear. I hold my breath for a splite second, but then I muster up the courage to speak.
"Who is this? Where's Adam?!" I demand.
Another gasp. This time, the person tries to say something.
They whisper, "H-help me, (Y/N)...".
It's Adam. It has to be Adam. My relief is punctuated by a sound radiating from the speaker. It sounded like a smack and low whispering. The whispers sound demonic.
"A-are you w-willin' to give apart of yourself to save me, (Y/N)?" He whimpers. Whoever was whispering at him was taunting him. Taunting me. He begins to cry out to me over the speaker.
"P-pleas-" He's interrupted by whoever is with him.
"Within the doll's hand is a scalpel. With it, you are to cut the entirety of the pinky of your choosing off within a certain amount of time. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with a clue to your friend's location. If you fail, he will be left here- to rot- and it will be your fault." The other voice speaks up from the phone. I shriek out.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
The doll speaks, "Make your choice. Will you save your friend or will you cower at the cost?".
"HELP M-" The line cuts off.
I try to call back, multiple times. I lose track of how many times I redialed, but it doesn't pick up.
When I come to and realize the gravity of the situation, I hear a clicking. An alarm clock that Adam used is counting down- what happens if it reaches 0, I don't want to find out.
I look at the door quickly- I consider running. I consider abandoning my friend. I consider never thinking about him again and keeping my pinky. A million ways of justifying leaving my friend, the man who cares for me when I'm drunk, a man who holds my head when I throw up, a man who buys me groceries with his last 10 dollars when I have nothing left. A man who I argue with more times than I can count.
But I don't run. I can't bring myself to run. I can't abandon my friend.
I look at the clock. 1:34 left. Not alot of time to hype myself to cut off my finger- but enough.
I glance at the doll. Its sinister grin sends shivers down my spine. I don't let me sway my decision.
1:21 left. I take a breath and walk up to the doll. The eyes peer into me.
"D-don't worry Adam." I whisper.
1:15 left. I grab the scalpel. Well, it looks clean enough anyway- at least it's not some rusty bonesaw.
I walk with the scalpel and sit at the table. I breathe and breathe and breathe. I swallow.
0:47 seconds left. I raise the scalpel above my pinky on my left hand. The scalpel seems to get a mind of its own as it falls down. I stop myself. I dance this dance a couple times. I sike myself out, but I realize I'm wasting time.
0:12 seconds left. I cut the my left pinky off. The red from my hand seems to spill everywhere. I'm sure he'll forgive me in the long run. He can't be too mad. I just cut my finger off for him.
I shriek in pain. That was the most pain I have ever felt. I can still feel my pinky, but it isn't there anymore.
I look at the clock while clutching my hand in pain.
0:02 seconds left. I passed.
I begin to feel dizzy, but a quick clicking sound gains my attention.
The dolls chest just opened. There's something paper inside.
I stumble over to the doll and grab it with my least bloody fingers. A map. A map of our town, but on it, a factory was circled.
The doll spoke up: "Congratulations (Y/N). You passed your first test. Continue to the location, and we will test your meddle. Adam awaits." It cackles at me.
I look down at my hand and the map.
"I won't let you down Adam." I tell myself. I hope he knows I won;t abandon him.
I'm coming, Adam.

Re: Reddit automod discourse, it’s strange to see the question framed entirely in terms of gatekeeping vs n00b inclusivity since my experience of automods was instead of rampant goodharting and the overt strangling of free expression
My principal interaction with automods was from one of the, ah, cooperative creative writing subreddits, where ppl would post prompts to attract co-writers. Which feels, in theory, like the exact sort of thing a subreddit would be good for: it creates a sort of natural market for writing partners, with the prompts acting as listings for applicants among whose proposals the op can select
It fell to the bot mod to carry out at least two central tasks: weeding out repetitive shit-tier prompts and implementing reddits larger censorship policies. These are, tbc, both important: if the mods didn’t have an automated way to enforce account age requirements and mandatory posting gaps and word limits, the place would be immediately overrun with day-old randos posting “asl?”; without clamping down at all on censored content, the entire sub would make itself a sitting duck for the stasi in the site administration. (Whether there should be stasi in the first place is a separate question, but I think once they exist you have some obligation to yr members to placate them if you want your sub to continue existing at all.)
The trouble is that, ofc, this automated mechanism is going to let in a lot of crap regardless. And so the reaction was… more onerous automated restrictions. For effortposting, this took the form of heightened minimum word counts; for pearl clutching, it took the form of increasingly paranoid prohibitions on words that might indicate conceptual adjacency to Unmentionables. In both cases the result (from my side as a prompt writer, at least) was ever increasing tedium with no real (positive) effect on quality: finding ways to distend the prompt artificially, scrupulously avoiding whatever trigger words the bot had decided were off limits. It wasn’t hard to see this was a red Queens race on both fronts, which contributed to my easing off of the platform
The censorship side of it was exacerbated by the increasingly vague, moralistic, and draconian site wide rules the bot was tasked with enforcing, which both seem to have encouraged more hedging and anxiety as a defensive measure from the mods as well as emboldening their own repressive impulses, culminating in a particularly ludicrous ban on content involving certain geopolitical affairs the mods evidently found distasteful to feature on the sub, for which they appealed as justification to the nebulous and politically self-absorbed stated principles of site governance by then in place
And the kicker? The sub still fucking sucks at its job!! The listing/applicant structure plus the personality of the median redditor (not to mention the censors) means a clear incentive to produce a consistent run of samey, not-especially-daring prompts suited for generating accordingly dull material. No amount of autodeletions will prevent that. I had many more interesting sessions and longer projects from my time in college spent trawling Omegle, a “community” with barriers to entry buried in full deep within the earths crust. Yea, there were more absolute shit tier “f?”-level users there, but I ultimately don’t care that much about the distinction between absolute shit tier and mediocre shit tier given I’ll refuse both, and with Omegle you could just repeatedly disconnect from partners until you found someone to yr taste, however esoteric and unseemly and curt that might be, instead of having to simultaneously compete with other prompt writers in a struggle for the attention of the subs lowest common denominator
And there weren’t any fucking picrew-ass alien pfp’s either

Oh man ace attorney pregnancy!! I've always liked the scenario of Phoenix getting pregnant before/shortly after reconnecting with Edgeworth the first time and dealing with early pregnancy on top of the emotional turmoil of the cases + of meeting his childhood friend and inspiration again. And the emotional slap in the face to Edgeworth when Phoenix announces pregnancy. I DO enjoy him starting a family with Edgeworth but I like the emotional slap in the face of him getting to realize that and ofc the idea of him falling for Phoenix even when he's not the biological father (in my head Phoenix either intended to be a single father via sperm donor anticipating financial stability working with Mia or 'twas an accident with a stranger) of course I've got a million other scenarios in my head for them too lol
OOOOOO, I dig I dig. There's something that hits my angst brain just right about Edgey getting a bit of an emotional wakeup call in regards to his dear sweet rival.
I think my favorite scenario is, and will continue to be Pheonix and Edgeworth spending some quality time together, some well needed unwinding and relaxation, pretty soon before either the dl-6 trial resurfacing (and Edgeworth's following disappearance-) among a couple other spesific crutial moments.
But those are only the ideas that actually fall in line with canon, sometimes going off canon is SOOO fun, and can lead to a LOT more silliness and fluff.

Spilled Ink Session 1 discussion -continued
So I just read @freedominique's response to the session 1 prompt and I think you made a ton of good points that I want to discuss further. The post was getting long already so I figured I'd make a fresh post to discuss and reblog to our hearts content.
I'm just going to copy paste some points you put in bold and address them one by one to make this a bit more organized.
The film industry's promise of revenue and attention potentially encourages writers to undermine and neglect exploring the strengths of their own medium to try to better fit the demands of the silver screen.
Nothing to add to this; this was my exact point about the harm of the pipeline. Not necessarily that it exists, but that it could inevitably have negative consequences for the future of literature. My friend just told me something interesting the other day about how Reese Witherspoon gets the future rights to turn your book into a movie or TV show if it ends up as one of her Book Club picks (ofc with the author's agreement). Now, as you've alluded to, it's unlikely that the books she chooses aren't at least of decent quality (though that can be its own separate debate). It seems, as far as I can tell, that Reese is interested in putting forward strong, well-written stories told by female authors and wouldn't choose a book that wasn't (to her) well crafted and could stand on it's own. But I'm more so pointing out this paradigm of the fact that authors may cater to this business model to the detriment of their own medium. Because Reese is making billions off doing this. So what happens when that faceless greedy capitalist figure sees how profitable this pipeline is and doesn't necessarily have the same care or consideration for selecting strong, well-crafted stories? The film industry is simply concerned with whatever sells.
I'm not concerned that novels which resort to stage-direction style writing (to win over the movie industry) will take over the market because I'm sceptical of their appeal
This is where I have to disagree a bit. And I will link this post as sort of a thesis statement of my point (that post also touches on something that will be discussed in a future session so I will try not to get too off the rails). Books of, arguably, not great quality are already being published at high frequency, gaining a ton of traction among readers and in turn being turned into tv shows/movies. Where I will strongly agree with you is that Hollywood isn't entirely to blame and I wasn't trying to imply that. As the post I linked above stated, and as you also stated, the problem starts in the publishing industry and with us. The types of books that are being pushed to the forefront in social media circles fuels what publishing industries choose to pump out to the masses for maximum profit and creates this vicious cycle. Add in another large capitalist corporation such as the film industry to that mix? It only worsens the issue. So my disagreement is simply that the appeal for these low quality stories is already live and present. And that's my worry. That more of these low quality books will be produced and pushed to the forefront for the benefit of these corporations (and the author - Witherspoon Book Club picks are said to sell 700% better than other fiction books and all of them have at least sold 10k copies), thereby diluting the nuanced, introspective craft that is literature.
At the end of the day, we, too, as writers/authors want to make money (I'm talking specifically about writers who want to pursue publishing, which I know isn't every writer's goal). And as much as we love writing and storytelling and bringing worlds and characters to life, when you decide to make writing your full-time job and enter the query trenches where you're being faced with rejection after rejection or poorly selling books, and you see books of objectively not good quality selling better and being embraced by the masses, with those authors getting tv/movie deals and being better compensated*...wouldn't it be tempting to just...pivot and shift your standards a bit to cater to what's working/will help you survive?
Now, I will say that my views on the issue are not all negative (as this whole discourse series is meant to point out - nothing is black and white!). I think @that-chibi-writer brought in a very interesting/refreshing perspective with their response that I really liked and I also alluded to it at the end of my first response. When done well (with a strong story to begin with by an author who cares about the process of storytelling, an author who is heavily involved in the tv show/film making process etc), a book-to-screen adaptation can be magnificent, not only enhancing the way readers experience the story but also "deepen[ing] the actual content of the film industry by making the content richer and more diverse in a lot of different ways." (@that-chibi-writer). Dominique, I think it makes total sense for you to pursue making your book a film/tv show. You don't even have to justify doing that because I'm not making a case that doing so is inherently bad. I know you'd prioritize honoring the medium of literature first over catering to a business, and as you said you want to deepen the reader's experience of your story by not limiting it to just a print format/medium. If that were the motive of every author, I wouldn't have an issue. My issue just stems from the industry (publishing, film, whatever) exploiting the vulnerability of authors (especially debut authors) and making them think they have to write their story a certain way to survive as an author. I just hate that mindset being pumped into the literary scene, and given the current dumpster fire that is the gateway to publishing at the moment (book banning, the booktokification of books etc), I just worry about the effects that may manifest years from now.
*I don't pretend to know what the actual numbers on all of this are. It could very well be that authors who have their shows made into some form of screen adaptation aren't well compensated for that. But they do receive something from it that, in my mind, is priceless - exposure. Gaining an audience, selling book copies, is becoming more and more about exposure and how you market yourself, and a tv show/film is helping you do that on a much larger scale than your own personal social media account.

Recent posts about masculinity got me thinking. I am not surprised that people see Till as the epitome of masculinity ofc if you go by looks. But from what I've seen I find Paul to be a lot of the things that I personally find very manly. He's confident without being an ass about it. He can be stern (like with people trying to enter the boat) without being rude. He can have a committed relationship with an equal and takes responsibility (we don't know ofc but I think not having children with everybody is a part of that for me). He works in a field he loves and is serious about but without sacrificing everything for it. And he can still be funny and silly and goofy and is certainly no killjoy but I bet if needed he can switch to serious in an instant. He enjoys what he's reached in life without boasting. He can show affection (like hugging his daughter) without that embarrased air around him. I can see a growth over the years without loosing himself. A man can be built like a tank but if he lacks qualities like these the manliness level for me drops considerably. I think about this when people talk about Till as the greatest and overall best because I honestly don't see it. And I was quite impressed back in the late nineties by his sensibility and the way he talked and so on but over the years he lost a lot of what appealed to me. For me (all of this is ofc my very personal impression on the available data) it feels like Paul can seem very much like an overgrown child but has really grown into a man and Till seems very much like the man around but is still a teenager on the inside. Which maybe explains the also many people who consider him a poor little meow meow whose bad life choices are never his fault.
i pondered if i wanted to share this ask, because of the negative undertone the word 'masculinity' has these days, but then i figured that's mainly because of 'toxic masculinity' and let's face it, anything combined with 'toxic' would make it negative, same goes for 'toxic cuteness', 'toxic softness' and 'toxic freches früchtchen' (to go with Paul's phrase 😊)
And i agree that Paul seems to be a very manly man: confident (even at 18) but with an easiness to it, firm without being rude (both with fans wanting to enter a boat, but also with Till wanting to bash his head against Paul's mic), in control without being micromanaging. I think there isn't much in Rammstein going on without Paul knowing it (and having an opinion on it 😊) (btw: that's why it imo was so funny that Richard managed to sneak up to him on stage and surprise him 😊
And indeed Paul can be very playful, both in a 'goofy with the guys' and a 'cute and playful' way, sometimes even childlike, but never childish 🌺. And also very affectionate, as he shows regularly with several bandmates ❤️
The phrase "growth over the years without loosing himself" i like a lot, and i agree with it. He's definitely older (can you believe he'll turn 60 end of next year?) and more mature than he was when Rammstein started (or Feeling B), but he's always very much Paul ❤️
Till i see as a masculine man too (maybe they are the among most masculine in the band, with Olli), but maybe in different ways. No i'm not talking about physique (although i can imagine that is why people who don't really know him, also see him as masculine), but Till has imo always had a 'cool' and a 'don't give a damn about what others think' vibe that imo makes him very appealing to be with. I think it's one of the reasons why he always attracts attention in a group of people, a certain magnetic quality (even though he may not always like it), and yes, imo very masculine.
Aside from that Till is one for 'going back to nature', living off the land, roughing it; all very masculine traits imo. (And ofcourse there are his views on people who go in therapy, which in itself are also pretty masculine, but in a different way).
I think more than with Paul, Till has different persona in different situations: on stage, being both a showman and a prankster, jetsetting, and tucked away in small village life. The playful part on stage is imo often being a bit of a prankster (lately i'm often reminded of Nelson of The Simpsons when i see him on stage), and he has retained a bit of juvenile humor (watch him laughing when Flake got that 'dick hat' on on stage).
Where Paul is 'in control', and according to stories, Till likes to be in control too (at least on stage, we know what happens when some of the crew make a mistake) but he handles it differently. I also think that Till is easily persuaded to do something if he's indulged in what he likes (rather, it has been stated almost literally in at least one making of) That's why personally i'm not a big fan of the entourage he formed around him the last couple of years, because imo they indulge him too much and don't tell him 'no'. Ofcourse he's old and intelligent (Till is from a very intellectual background, he should be able to look at himself and evaluate) enough to say 'no' himself, but he often doesn't imo... But like i said, he's smart enough to be able to figure that out 🌺 maybe just every now and then, he needs someone to give him a kick up the youknowwhat 😊
Does that make him less masculine though? 🤔 Not in my book...but what do i know 😊

For FFXIVWrite Day 11, “once bitten, twice shy”. Majha/Ysayle and past Majha/OFC, mid-Heavensward, spoilers through lv…55? msq, ~550 words. I knew this was Majha the minute I saw the prompt but I didn’t figure out how to cram it into an FFXIVwrite until the small hours of the morning.
Majha has been here before.
When Majha got her heart broken, she was seventeen and trusting.
The girls were encouraged to pair off—or group up—among themselves, the same as the tias were, to remove temptation. Majha had thought she was more than just available and not Payan’s sister. She’d thought they were courting, that it mattered to Payan the same way it mattered to her. She’d thought that she ended up suggesting more ways to spend time together than Payan did because…
She doesn’t know why she’d thought it. She hadn’t considered it all then, and even now she’s never been able to puzzle it out.
Payan had told her eventually that she was being too strange about something that was only a convenience in the end, and Majha—Majha had taken it, because she’d had to, because she had no choice.
Because in the end it’s impossible to make anyone feel anything. She wouldn’t have even if she could, she just wishes she hadn’t even wanted to. No more, she’d decided. No more letting herself fall for anyone who made her no promises, for anyone who didn’t want her.
No more, she reminds herself now, watching firelight reflect blush-pink across Ysayle’s face and hair.
It’s been a long, strange trip.
The Churning Mists are bitter cold, enough that even Majha—used to the high woods near the Gyr Abanian border—and Alphinaud mind it. Ysayle and Estinien seem less bothered, but they would, especially in front of each other. Majha can’t imagine one of them being the first to admit something that they’d see as weakness and she’d consider simply having a body made of flesh and blood like any other, here in lands never meant for the Spoken, or indeed anyone not made of magic or covered in fur.
Furless mortals as they are, they’ve had to sleep curled up together, to hoard warmth. They’ve had nothing to do as they scrambled across broken roads and over rocks never meant for foot travel but talk to each other.
Majha had had to do something about having to work with Iceheart, is the thing. Iceheart, who’d taken the supplies meant for Revenant’s Toll, who’d seen Majha’s chosen people as mere obstacles. She’d had to do something, and so she had considered Ysayle’s good qualities, and then kept finding more of them.
And she is beautiful, and Majha had saved her life once in the burrows of the Gnath—had fought for it, fiercely, defying Thal himself to tear Ysayle away before Majha relinquished her, which she would not—and then Ysayle had given it to her in trust on the way up Sohm Al.
And Ysayle would follow Shiva, and marry Hraesvelgr. Ysayle has never even considered anything else. She has spoken of it, often, these last few days and nights.
She considers what they’re doing an honor and an opportunity, the final chance to complete her legacy. Majha could argue—surely the legacy Shiva left would be satisfied with peace and friendship between man and dragon, if nothing else—but why argue? If Ysayle won’t choose her, freely and without persuasion, then firelight or no what’s it worth in the end?
She looks away from the fire and into the night, and it takes a long time for the dazzle of her eyes to fade.

You can turn this into whatever you want but..
What abt hc of how the Uchiha and/or Senju would differ depending on education? Like would one clan be better at say; science, or math, or literature, etc.
Or what about the little things? Y'know things like what are some of the social etiquette rules that each clan would follow?
Sry I'm rly ecstatic that there's someone who is eager to go into the deep dive of lore behind a story when there is little to no info!
oof, I'm afraid I'm not very good with comparison as I suck at writing headcanons for the Uchiha, and there are plenty others who are great at that. Not that i feel super confident about my Senju headcanons either most of the time...
Tumblr media
But I can say this: I don't think they were very different in terms of education, and you really can't note one clan as being better at one thing compared to another.
In my mind, shinobi clans were overall considered lower class members of society as a whole. Upper middle-class at best.
They were mercenaries. Highly skilled professional fighters with unique abilities.  Being professional soldiers was their job, and they had to do it well if they wanted to make sure their clan thrived.  And I think their education would reflect that occupation as well as the state of the clan at the time and the resources available. So during the WS era, when there was no organized academy system and likely not any public schooling available for shinobi children, the clans educated their own members with what means and knowledge that existed within the clan and probably had their own ways of doing it.
I do think that being literate and having at least basic math skills was very valuable knowledge to have so that would likely have been among the first things they'd learn.  And we do know that both Madara and Hashirama were able to read and write by the age of like 12-14.
Again, the shinobi were mercenaries. Soldiers. Fighters. Not nobles, scholars or artists. And they lived short lives. Skills and knowledge that first and foremost served and made it possible for you to survive and do your job as a shinobi well were prioritized, and that was true for most clans.
Aside from just grueling physical training, these fields of skills and knowledge could include : Tracking, hunting, fishing, survival training, basic medical skills/first aid (not medical ninjutsu), identifying plants and knowing their various purposes, making and caring for tools and equipment, map-reading, understanding social structure, setting up and taking down camps efficiently, undermining enemy fortifications and understanding military organization, language and strategy. Mental and emotional endurance and focus against pain, loss, or fear. The ability to think fast and act quickly, perceptiveness, see opportunities and take initiative, efficient cooperation with others as well as independent action and thinking.
Although respect, loyalty and discipline was important, blind obedience and inability to think for themselves was discouraged, as it made for inefficient soldiers that wouldn't be able to act unless they were continuously given clear and explicit orders.  The shinobi of this time had to be able to act and think on their own if needed, and the choices they made would reflect on their clan.  They prided themselves on being high-quality fighters, and being mindless fools who would falter and lose all manner of discipline and focus if they lost their commander was not how they maintained a good reputation.
'Humanities' like artistic expression or literature were not among these fields that shinobi would prioritize. The warring states period wasn't a flourishing time for these fields I'd imagine, and for shinobi they were rarely useful in practice.  (If they wanted they could engage in these fields when they had free time, or during the winter when campaigning often took a pause and left a bit of room for leisure.)
Ofc there were those who found their strength in books and scrolls, in experimenting and developing new tools and techniques, in digging deep into what was known and pushing the boundaries of what was possible. But pretty much all clans prior to the villages being developed were terribly limited in their resources, so there was only so far one could go in research before hitting a wall.
The Senju valued learning, and sharing knowledge, a great deal. Teaching and training younger members of the clan was an essential task that pretty much all adults would do to some extent at one point or another, everyone held responsibility to ensure the next generation had the skills and knowledge necessary for a life as shinobi, as professional fighters. The younger members of the clan were encouraged to see all their elders, regardless if they were just a year older or several decades, as teachers, and respect them as such.
They were the clan of a thousand skills after all, and to ensure all those skills that existed within the clan would survive they needed to be passed down.
If knowledge was exclusively passed down from parent to child then the width of knowledge and skill sets would quickly become limited. Individuals who might have an undiscovered talent for a certain skill may never reach their full potential because they were never exposed to its existence. Some skills could even be lost completely if that family-line ended, which was always a risk since many died before they had children of their own.  Hoarding knowledge within a family-line was deeply frowned upon.
So to prevent this, young members regardless gender and of roughly the same age would from the age of three be trained together in groups, but they could come from many different families and bloodlines. Still, for almost two hundred years leading up to Hashirama becoming clan head, these kids would usually be sent out on missions before they were anywhere near fully trained or educated in truth. It was idiotic and impractical, but a persistent remnant from a period where illness and war made it necessary to have even the younger members of the clan fight. Some groups would be completely empty before any of the members had even turned eleven years old.
Even if young Senju, who were often in a league above many others, were learning quickly and efficiently and having the strength and stamina of their genetics on their side, when they ended up in a life-or-death fight against an adult shinobi (or even non-shinobi) with decades of experience, the odds were overwhelmingly against them. And those who would have been pretty average shinobi, those who despite carrying the Senju name, in a different time would not have gotten very far and might have gone on to dedicate themselves to other tasks that would support and keep the clan running smoothly, were often the first to die. You were either strong or you were dead.
In my continued warring states verse, since Hashirama became clan head he set a strict  line on when young Senju are allowed to get anywhere near a potential battle.  Before fifteen, no Senju was given missions.  They are to focus on training and studying. On growing. On flourishing and settling into their unique strengths.  And even at fifteen, they are still not allowed into open combat.  The Senju's coming-of-age milestone was sixteen, and only at that point were they allowed to fight in open combat, if they were deemed to have sufficient strength and ability to be capable of it.
Because of this, the number of fighting Senju did drop for a little while, but the ones that then entered the field when they became eligible were far stronger, thoroughly trained, educated, and competent, and had a much higher survival-rate.
Now, as I said I generally don't feel super comfortable writing headcanons for the Uchiha, I find that very difficult so I rarely do it. But, I do sort of imagine them teaching and training their young members much more centered within individual family units. Parents teach their older children, and the older children teach their younger siblings. Close cousins, aunts and uncles might be involved too.  And I like to think that Madara implemented a similar age-restriction for the Uchiha as Hashirama did for the Senju.
---
Honestly I don't think the Senju have very unique mannerisms that are specific to their clan.  They are sought after as mercenaries and as such have had to adapt to the social etiquette of the class they usually serve so as to not offend their employer.
But here’s some general brainstorming on both big and small things, not sure its what you were thinking of bet here it is. Again, for the Senju.
- Don't settle for 'good enough'. Always strive towards perfection and precision. Don't leave things half-finnished.
- Honor and respect your parents, your elders and offer prayers to your ancestors.
- Do not speak ill of or disrespect the dead.
- Honor your clan. Wear your crest with pride and dignity. When you wear your clan's crest, you represent it, so never act in a way that will bring shame upon it and all others who wear it, have worn it and will wear it in the future.
(Note :: The shinobi's view of shame and dishonor is different from that of say samurai and most of the world, which is also why so many look down on them) - Do not use your last name when speaking to strangers. - Be mindful of social ranks outside of the clan and within it, and act appropriately when in the presence of those that are higher rank than you.
- Life is fleeting and impermanent, and death is an inevitable part of life. Everything ends one way or another. Accept this irrefutable truth. Train hard, and fight with discipline and vigor and with the anticipation of death, and seize and enjoy the time between.
- Don't speak without thinking, and speak only when you have something worth saying. Speak clearly. Senju can be considered blunt, but overall  sincere.
- Do not overindulge in alcohol, sex, or the like. Less is more.
- Treat and love all your peers as your brothers and sisters.  Get along, be respectful of each other, and stay close. Love and support each other for life. Senju put a lot of emphasis on camaraderie, promoting relationships of trust and devotion between peers over strictly familial or filial ones.
- Some acts of disobedience are more acceptable than others, and it is usually rather a matter of if you get caught doing it. For example, if you get caught sneaking out of the house at night you'll get scolded or disciplined for being caught, rather than the act of trying to sneak out itself.
- Do not waste food or drink. If you really do not wish to eat or drink what you are offered for some reason, accept it politely but leave it without eating or drinking it. Food was frequently scarce during the WS era, so refusing food was not only impolite but also just plain wasteful.
- Shinobi children often had many siblings, and parents that could be away from the home for extended periods of time or die suddenly, so being able to help care for their family by performing domestic and household tasks and being self-sufficient was important.  This responsibility particularly falls onto the oldest child, but everyone is expected to pull their weight when needed and however they are able.
- Maintain good hygiene. When in the field, take all opportunities that are offered to wash up.
- Keep your clothing and equipment clean, neat and maintained as well. Treat your belongings well, or they might fail you when you need them, and they may not be easy to replace. Treating your belongings poorly or having a dishevelled appearance can not only be cause of disapproving looks, but even disciplinary action.
- A shinobi will have to do and endure terrible things, you are expected to be relentless, cold, and uncompromising in battle, but you must keep the one you must always be on the battlefield separated from the one you are at home. You have to learn this. If you get consumed by anger or pain or grief and can't function off the battlefield, or start engaging in antisocial behaviour, you are a burden to the rest of the clan.
- Treat guests with respect and hospitality.  Although the Senju rarely bring outsiders into their settlement, they are excellent hosts when they do. And once the village was founded and you visited a Senju household, you would always be offered to at least sit down and have some tea before you left.
- (I have a full post on HCs about Senju clan Love, sex and marriage coming up soon)

FINALLY. I was so busy so this took me 3-4 days. Mali is an aunt you don't wanna mess with. (She has that mama shirt because she is essentially fostering her nephew btw) Side note: She normally wears those brown boots/black versions of them with the green flame shirt design as well; I just wanted to draw her with her dragon feet there lol
Added the Shadowless info in this one as well, its also on Angus' bio. Also IDK what her day job should be yet OTL But other than that, another character off from my "To-Do-List" yaaay
Bio below:
Age: considered middle-aged among wyverns
Nicknames: Mali/Ama (Beatrice), aunt Malia (Janus, Kaspian, Sebastian) Marek (Angus)
Family: Nephews Sebastian, Kaspian, and Janus
Friends: Angus & Franziska Belmont, Evena Faydream, Kenzo Yoma/Faydream
Love interest: Beatrice Dubois (A forest witch)
Occupation: main one tba, She also works as a Shadowless.
A wyvern aunt with slight criminal record and a secret second job taking care of her young nephew, Janus
Abilities:
She can transform into a partial or full wyvern, and her full dragonic form is about the size of a bus. Like majority of wyverns, she can breathe fire in this form and fly, of course.
Pyrokinesis is ofc possible even in human form, just mostly done with her hands and feet rather than breathing out fire (though she can also do this in human form, just prefers not to)
Hydra heritage: Due to her hydra ancestry, she regenerates unusually fast and well for a wyvern, even able to regenerate lost limbs with no scarring left behind. Wyverns can't normally full on regenerate lost limbs. She also is able to produce potent poison from her claws
She's physically very strong and durable, you can't really cut her scales easily even with a very sharp, magical blade.
Amalia is very good intuitive fighter and able to pick up a person's next move before they do it. She also has fairly good strategic thinking, able to think several steps ahead.
Personality:
Amalia is pretty chill person most of the time, to the point people might mistake her for a calmer being. Then they see her deck a guy over being slightly mean to her nephew, and go "yep, a wyvern."
She is naturally dominant person with leadership qualities, and while she can have aggressive tendencies typical of her kind, she's mostly seen as a fairly just and reasonable leading/mentoring figure, who makes sure everything is handled properly and fairly. Amalia is often the most down-to-earth person with the common sense advice to give in a group.
Her tolerance for bullshit is VERY small though, and not even in a "I will call you out on your bullshit" way, but "I will yeet you out of this nearby window if you don't shut up right now" way. Generally she is seen a bit scary by many of those who don't know her better, and her temper has landed her in trouble with the law, though only minorly.
She's one of those people who's unapologetically herself, and can be a lot for some people to handle (read; intimidating), but is generally seen as an overall well meaning and good person - just has bit of a bad temper.
Weaknesses:
Being a wyvern, her temper does cause trouble where she might overreact to small slights aimed at her loved ones, either terrorizing or smacking someone around over things that weren't that big of a deal in the end. Her natural aggression also does sometimes interfere with her tactical thinking ability, allowing her opponents in a fight to land hits in by provoking her.
She's gotten some penalties from this before, so Amalia has a small criminal record and is banned from some of the more popular clubs and restaurants in the city, which occasionally makes date nights with Beatrice tricky (Something Bea IS frustrated with at times). She also has arguments with Janus over this, as he doesn't really like when she goes overboard, which somewhat strains their relationship.
Because of her regenerative ability, she often doesn't realize when she should back down and rest; while she can regenerate a cut off arm, the blood-loss will still be an issue for example. Something Angus often tells her off about.
BG STORY:

Fun Facts
Since Amalia is banned from most of her favorite places, Beatrice sometimes just orders food from those places and sets up a dinner date in her home instead.
Beatrice does complain to her occasionally about her tendency to get banned from places, but it's not that big of a deal for her in the grand scheme of things.
While she's gotten sanctions for picking fights and causing havoc, it hasn't affected her standing as a Shadowless, given you can only lose this job by doing something severely awful; occasionally beating up thugs and generally just being a wyvern is not really bad enough.
Janus came to live with her to study in Chrysalis City, and also because his older brothers wanted him to get away from their shitty parents, something she was happy to help with as she dislikes her sister and her husband too.
She can transform into a full human form ofc, but she goes to the human realm so rarely she tends to almost never do it.
She's fairly tall for a wyvern in human form; most wyverns tend to be between 160-175 cm, but she's 180 cm tall, more akin to the range of many of the other dragonic beings and their human sizes.
Like her gf Beatrice, she is a lesbian.
Between the 3 brothers, while she looks after Janus, she gets along with Sebastian the best, as he's closest to a wyvern out of the trio; they're all mixed heritage, with Bass having the most wyvern influence in him.
She often has to physically wrestle Janus to sleep as he has the tendency to study way too late into the night, being a bookworm
While Amalia is generally very blunt and straightforward person, she actually curses very rarely; only when she's really in pain/very mad.
Amalia can speak a few human languages alongside the universal one everybody in Mirror world speaks; Polish, English, and French. Their wyvern bloodline is actually originally from Poland, which is why the family speaks it. French and English she learned from Beatrice and Angus respectively.
For Shadowless missions, she's typically teamed up with Angus, which is where their friendship mainly comes from.

I feel like....for me, there's a "missing mood" in a lot of discourse about the modern world, because like....this world is a series of countless horrors and sufferings, obviously, and the mood of "this is totally unacceptable, so unacceptable maybe we just need to burn it all to the ground" is important! But I think just as important is a recognition that the modern age is one of ludicrous wealth by previous standards, and obviously a lot of that wealth is concentrated but a lot of it isn't, a lot of it is spread out, 200 years ago the most powerful man in the world couldn't get the quality of medical care (among many other things) of some schmuck nowadays, and part of that is just technological advancement but a big part is the way we've chosen to organize our society (which is inseparable from technological advancement, ofc) and like...that's something very valuable, absurdly valuable, and so I think that "maybe we should burn it all down" mood should be tempered by an "oh my God if we do anything we might injure the most wonderful golden goose in human history" mood (the people who have really thought about it and still hold on to the unalloyed former mood generally argue it's going down anyway, so we might as well bring it down ourselves, and hope that doing it on our own terms gives us some options. But there's not the hope that it won't go down, and there should be)

Minor Tears 0f the Kingdom spoilers, my selfship involves Rauru who you go through the entire tutorial area with so I don’t think he’s as much of a spoiler at this point, but I ship with him in the context of the events at the very beginning of the game Diverging From Canon, so no real story spoilers for the story in the present of the game because I’m just borrowing the world and doing whatever I want lmao
Though I don’t intend to spoil anything story related, if you’d prefer to avoid any potential spoilers for the game in general just skip this post until you’ve found all the memories or something, that should cover most of the relevant info that would pertain to my ship stuff lol
Rather than the disaster that erupts below Hyrule Castle at the beginning of T0TK, what if Rauru’s arm and Zelda’s tear and the Master Sword were actually powerful enough to purify Ganon’s essence and maybe even restore him to his pre-Ganondorf form like everyone wanted?? I haven’t decided on as many details on the Ganon front because a good chunk of my development happens on the other side of the map lmao but alongside purifying Ganon or at least like not turning him into an evil beast necessarily, I thought it’d be neat if Rauru’s power resurrected not only him but his sister and the Champions as well because I want them to have their shot at life, I miss them especially Mipha and I want to be able to interact with them all too lol.
So in this verse/timeline Nova is a star fragment that fell into the Spring of Wisdom atop Mt. Lanayru and was granted sentience through soaking in its waters. She’s the Sage of Stars/Destiny, capable of healing ailments and maladies and assisting wayward souls in navigating their destined paths. Def friends with Naydra and she learned frost and water manipulation techniques from the dragon for the former and from her friends among the Zora for the latter.
She runs a business in Hateno Village, the Hylian settlement she migrated to after she started mingling with mortals more frequently and decided to acclimate to a new and less isolated way of life. It’s called the Three Springs Tavern/Cafe/What have you (often just referred to colloquially as “the Three Springs place in Hateno”) and per a number of the new ingredients in the game (FOOD SPOILER I’ll throw that out there because I didn’t know about any of these when I started playing and it was a happy surprise ToT) the establishment’s specialties include Starlight Tea and/or Cheesecake (assorted milk tea of your choice and cheesecake, both dishes concocted with powdered brightcap or glowing cave fish scales mixed in, a concentration that’s just fine enough to not give any real flavor but it produces a luminescent quality in whatever its mixed with) but they also sell a variety of Hateno’s other specialties and even some regional favorites! Namely Zora or Rito because she tends to prefer their dishes to the Gerudo or Goron diet.
She wears the Frostbite Armor minus the headdress, she knows it’s Zonai in design and she’s studied the ancient Zonai even if she isn’t necessarily ancient enough to have interacted with them personally, although I haven’t fully decided on that yet, and she wears the armor in honor of her friend ofc, and the spring which she still serves and visits frequently!
(Please excuse the horrible tv quality on these screenshots I took them with my phone instead of taking it straight from the switch orz orz)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She ends up meeting Rauru and co because Link/Zelda bring them to her because Nova knows about Zonai stuff and can get the handful of people set up temporarily in Hateno AND she knows the ancient Champions because they were only alive like a hundred years ago right?? And she’s DEFINITELY at least a couple thousand years old, just not necessarily “Hyrule’s Founding” ancient in this case.
But she and Rauru hit it off right away OH and where Sonia is concerned, I figure she can be revived and either they just. Part ways for whatever reason idk, or he can be poly and with me part of the time, because I love Sonia but I just don’t really want to be romantic with her necessarily I’m sorry queen ToT my heart def belongs to Mipha if it was gonna be with anyone in that case which is another reason why it’s not really on my radar to consider, but for now I’m just not even going to think about it because why should I :D
So yeah Rauru/Nova hit it off immediately and he thinks she’s so beautiful in that ceremonial garb and he’s captivated by her starlit radiance and SHE’S (very much just me projecting here) curious to know why he wears the Charged Armor of Farosh, esp when he’s the Sage of Light not Lightning but also it’s fine he just looks so good in it, and she’ll prob get him some comfy casual Hateno threads too ToT AND MINERU…and they crash in her cafe/loft apartment thing where she lives above the shop, and they get to reacclimatize to life in this new Hyrule together. I’m just obsessed with Rauru he’s wonderful and the Frostbite Armor was made for me and ofc Nova’s friends with the Satori and Koroks as well…
And I’ll be sure to add more as things develop :D
