You shouldn't be standing at the door to his townhouse. Knowing well that Colby was long asleep; as were Kat and Sam, really. Fist raised to knock, the door creaks open before you make contact. "It's after midnight." Colby says, quiet. You're gawking, like a deer caught in headlights, because he shouldn't be up. "The Ring detected movement." He says, gesturing to the electronic doorbell to your right.

"I... sorry. It's literally dead of night, this is weird." You sputter, face flushed in obvious warmth and embarrassment. Guilt starts to sink in. Colby looked tired and disheveled, hair mussed and eyes sporting dark bags. Just as you made a step back, Colby leans forward to snatch you inside. Being your best friend— one of three— he knows to clap a hand over your mouth before you can squeal in shock and wake the house.

Your lagging mind takes a moment to register Colby's hand silencing you, standing close enough at your back to feel his body heat. Slowly, he steps back, and you don't know what else to do other than clear your throat.

His home is dark and entirely too quiet, leaving you with a feeling similar to dread but far more mild. Standing awkwardly by the front door, you look around as if you'd never been inside before; or as if you could actually make out anything more than shapes in the black. "Come on, dimwit." Colby sighs, dragging himself back to his room. A little confused, you follow nonetheless, not having had a plan past knocking.

His room is warm, both figuratively and literally. LEDs lining the ceiling glow a soft orange, bathing everything in a soft light. "I'm going to sleep. Are you going home or are you sleeping here?" Colby says, tacking on a not so fake yawn as he settles back under his duvet. You nearly trip as you strip from your hoodie and crawl into his bed. He lifts the covers for you and the moment you're under, he's scooping you into his embrace.

"Next time you come over in the dead of night, wear something more pajama-ish." Colby whispers, a nod towards your midnight attire.

oh ho, i’m happy about lining up that timing. i think the winning position to clip the main stage is a bit low, but i found this one little, like, safety pillar just outside Ammo Knights to stand on, and you can enter photo mode on that. and i think for future use and clarity, i’ll use that spot without a filter, matching the first angle/view here.

i’m pretty sure Big Man is definitely tinted to his team, and not just reflecting a bunch of lights like i thought in the Gear/Grub/Fun fest. i like Frye’s cyan digits, and Shiver’s got a lovely dark green with light purple fingers, i like that hue combo.

No okay but listen, there's just so much about Akutagawa being one of the only characters to ever apologize! And repetedly at that! I could talk about it forever! It's the character growth and improving as a person but also it's the constantly feeling himself as less, constantly under the impression that he's not worth others, like he's undeserving to live, which of course he never expresses through words, except sometimes it will still transpire! Sometimes his terrible self esteem will show! It's about his perception of himself like he's always messing up! It's about his perception of himself like he's always failing in proving himself to others! It's about his desperate need to be acknowledge by someone! It's about feeling like he's irreparably stained and corrupt! It's about the always feeling like coming short, always a disappointment to others! Like he's undeserving of love!
