Porsche 718 RSK ‘Lucybelle III’
The Porsche 718 RSK had the difficult mission of replacing the legendary Spyder Type 550. It was more modern and aerodynamic than the 550, sported a new headlight design and was powered by a four-cylinder boxer engine that delivered 162 hp. The highlight of this car is that it debuted in 1958 at the 12 Hours of Sebring, winning in its category. He did the same at Le Mans. Although his most important achievement came in 1959, winning the Targa Florio, not only in his class but in the entire race.
The 718 RSK took the racing world by storm upon its introduction in 1958, immediately winning its class at the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans. What would really cement its legacy, though, was a 1-2-3 finish at the Targa Florio in Sicily the next year. This particular example was first bought by American race car drive and Le Mans winner Ed Hugus in 1959. He would paint it in the traditional American racing colors of white and blue, name it Lucybelle III after his business partner’s wife.

17/03/2024: Unfortunately, the 12 Hours of Sebring was one of the hard races for the Dames. After being unable to set a lap in qualifying due to a puncture, they started from the back part of the grid. Sarah's pace was super good in the early stints, but due to early contact that caused a technical issue, they had to call the car behind the wall several times to repair it. Being 30 laps behind they have taken the decision to retire the car.
The Iron Dames once again showed their determination and endurance in hard situations. All three drivers gave their all and showed the world exactly what the Iron Dames project is about 🩷

Matra Djet
24 Hours of Le Mans, Monte-Carlo Rally, 12 Hours of Sebring, the DB of Charles Deutsch and René Bonnet shine there during the years 50/60. Then the two collaborators separate and René Bonnet decides to devote himself to the conception of his own cars, in association notably with Renault Gordini. Thus were born the "Missiles", "Le Mans" and the "Djet". The latter, equipped with an engine in a central rear position, finished 17th in the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours. That same year, Bonnet presents a road version of its Djet, with a Renault Estafette engine-box assembly. The car was fitted with a beam chassis instead of a tubular truss. The first road car to have an engine in a central-rear position (like the racing cars), the Djet was a commercial failure under its designer. The career of this car ends in 1968 with nearly 1,700 units produced. For the anecdote, the French Gendarmerie will use Djet (and Alpine A110) to intercept the offenders at high speed.
