Cool little details I noticed in 12 Dancing Princesses

Genevieve and her dad seem to play chess together regularly and he seems to consider her a equal rival

Fallon seems to like animals. She wanted to pet the monkey. Also her brown eyes are really pretty.

The girls have their beds arranged in a circle, but Rowena puts them in two straight lines. In addition to taking away their individually colored bedspreads and canopies.

Gregory is the name of the guard at the palace entrance. Derek greets him by name as he enters. Presumably... he's coming by with new shoes very often. 😆

Slight variances in the girls' appearances and style. When they're in the dancing pavilion for the last time they all have their hair in buns, but Ashlyn has a strand dangling and Fallon has some loose curls on top.

When Rowena first enters the castle, she stands directly in front of the portrait of the girls' late mother, eclipsing it. She later replaces it with a portrait of herself. That's cinematography folks

Hi! I’m Ellie, an ace kitchen witch and aspiring author. I like to write fantasy and adventure for the most part with hints of other genres sprinkled throughout. I try to keep romance to a minimum and though in some stories it’s there, it is certainly never a major part of the plot. I much prefer to develop complex platonic and familial relationships instead.

My goal is to publish a book with minimal romance and no sex scenes that becomes a New York Times #1 bestseller. A toxic ex once told me I’d never sell any stories without sex scenes because that’s what people want, and I’d like to say 🖕🏻

Current WIPs:

• The Apothecary’s Tower

This is my most recent work. It’s a fantasy/adventure novel about a girl named Kiera who discovers a tower in the woods of Scotland and accidentally wakes the spirit of an apothecary who is trapped inside. The apothecary, Maerin, tells her that the tower and the nearby wall are a gateway to the magical realm of Alba, and that the magic is being drained from the mortal world which could have disastrous consequences for both realms. Kiera sets off on a quest through time to free Maerin from his imprisonment so that they can work together to find out what’s happening to the magic and save both their worlds. I’m extremely excited for what this will grow into as I write considering what I’ve built so far.

• Between the Stars

This is a YA coming of age novel about a boy named Sam whose family moves to Michigan for a fresh start after a tragedy. Sam struggles with significant mental health issues and has a hard time adjusting to the move. Once there he meets Charlie, a girl from a broken home who befriends him and starts to turn his worldview upside down. I intend for this book to be a cross between Bridge to Terabithia (if they were older and had more mental health problems) and The Fault In Our Stars (without the romance).

• The Twelve Dancing Princesses

This is a retelling of the classic fairytale which, when I started, resembled the Barbie version quite a bit but has since grown into its own unique tale. It follows Adrienne, the eldest of twelve sisters who has had to step into a leadership role for her eleven sisters since her mother passed away five years prior. When her ill father brings his old friend Duchess Olivia and her son, Will, to the palace to teach her and her sisters, they quickly discover that the Duchess is not the person their father thinks she is. Desperate for freedom, Adrienne and her sisters find a secret portal to the Shadow Realm in their mother’s garden and with Will’s help they must navigate the dangers of this other world in order to find the magic that will save their father. I greatly enjoy writing sibling relationships and with twelve of them it gives me a wonderful opportunity for chaos.

• Lèse Majesté

Princess Evelyn is gone. She died the night Lord Caine attacked her home, when he killed her father and overthrew her kingdom. To survive, she became Lady Ivy Donovan- a noble girl living off a miracle and her dead cousin's identity. Desperate to escape a marriage arranged by her overbearing aunt, Evelyn plans an escape with little thought of consequence and the intention of finding out what really happened to her mother. But in order to do so, she has to face her past and ends up finding much more than she bargained for. This novel is fully posted on Wattpad.

• The Berkshire Lady’s Garland (And Other Short Stories)

This is a collection of short stories I've written based on ideas that weren't strong enough for a novel of their own. Some are my own creation, some are based on writing prompts or posts I've found, and some are based on ballads and poems that inspired me to bring them to life. I mostly write these for practice and they are also posted on Wattpad.

One of the first barbie movies i watched as a child was nutcracker and it was so terrifying it traumatized me and i cannot rewatch it to this day

Island princess also somewhat confused and disturbed me as a child like "why cant she understand people what" and the whole POISONING ANIMALS thing but i got over it its not terrible lol

When i was 7 i went to a family event sort of thing and they had prizes for the kids and i got to choose between a doll+dvd set of swan lake or princess and the pauper. Iirc i chose swan lake but later swapped because p+p had Two girls on the cover but i eventually went home with swan lake because her dress was pretty. I ended up hating the movie and my friend beheaded the doll (with my encouragement) when i was 12

I hated nori and nalu from mermaida alike growing up because nori was a bitch and at least nalu had that silly carousel of confusion moment but its only very recently that i discovered that norinis actually. Very pretty. Ahem-

Barbie mariposa was also slightly traumatic cause of the poisoning plot but i really loved the movie otherwise i related to the mc cause bOOKWORM and she was also so pretty aaa i think i had a book from the movie at one point too

DIAMOND CASTLE I GOT THE LIANA DOLL FOR EID AND SHE ONLY SANG ONE NOTE BUT I LOVED HER EVEN THO MY FAVE WAS ALEXA i actually hated the girl in the mirror i cant remember her name now but i found her annoying and out of tune but otherwise man this movie was probably my semi sapphic awakening like WHO WOULDN'T WANNA LIVE IN A COTTAGE WITH THEIR BEST FRIEND LIVING OFF JAM AND BREAD AND BREAD AND JAM FOREVER man ok but the brainwashed betrayal scene was also kind of traumatic at least the ending was happy and so aesthetic omg i need to rematch it tho its been a hot minute

I had the fashion fairytale book for ages before i got around to watching the movie and it was? Ok? I guess? I didn't love the modern day premise or the whole subplot with ken and the animation style was pretty jarring so overall kind of a mid movie and book for me :p

A FAIRY SECRET HAD THE BEST BARBIE/RAQUELLE RECONCILIATION ARC LIKE I DONT REMEMBER JACK ABT THE REST OF THE MOVIE EXCEPT THE MEMORY WIPE WHICH PISSED ME OFF BUT THE BARBIE AND RAQUELLE BONDING kept this one higher than fashion fairytale im still obsessed with them upgrading thru the power of friendship and man i really gotta rewatch this one also i did have a stickerbook of it but barbie looked ugly as sht on the cover which made me sad </3

Princess charm school wasnt one i expected to enjoy so much i think the appeal of the custom uniforms got to me and i just had to watch and ykw it was a fun movie with an enjoyable plot twist and nice antagonist redemption arc i love delancy so much man i actually got a doll of her from my friend one birthday and then swapped her back a few days later for 6 smarties snack packs (we all have our regrets amirite :"3) but i would brush her hair every night before bed and mm yeah i like this movie a lot lol it has its cringy bits but i always rewatch and look back on it fondly

Not making this some NLOG stuff I don't morally put myself above other people for this but I do find it kind of funny that I may be a fat woman with no fashion sense who never wears makeup and very rarely shaves but I do own four different early 2000s movie tie-in Barbie dolls

YOU CAN TRY. if she feels better to use for you then sure!! poncirus is on the more defensive side of vanguards (texas is offensive) and i think she'd be pretty good for annihilations/long stages since her s2 has infinite duration after second activation

IDK if you're doing trivia still, but Island Princess seems to take place in Italy. Most notably with names like Rosella, Antonio, Marissa, Luciana, and Ariana, but also the Dancing Princesses' cameos (12DP is in Germany), Germany is close to Italy and has had historical relations with Italy too. And Princess and the Popstar is Monaco, as Meribella looks a lot like it.

I'm definately still doing trivia but just busy with work and thinking of unique trivia is getting harder to do. For example, I have screenshots of Starlight Adventure collecting "dust" but haven't gotten around to organizing them into posts yet :/

Maybe the trick is to come up with the meta after I start writing. After failing to finish so many started stories, I got in the habit of having an outline and characters and themes before I started a story. But the stories I've finished lately have been much more spur-of-the-moment. I'll have a basic idea for what I want to happen in the story, start writing, and then start digging deeper as the stuff I write gives me new ideas about how the story should go and what the story means.

This means the writing process is a continuation of the fun brainstorming process, rather than a frustrating failure to live up to the cool story I came up with during the brainstorming process. I don't have to try to fit in all the cool foreshadowing and set up character traits or whatever. I can just write and have fun watching the story grow. It's not outlining or discovery writing or even "plantsing". It's just trusting that I know how to shape a story and letting myself have fun doing it. By letting the ideas take shape with the writing rather than coming up with too much cool stuff before.
