I like my Spotify Wrapped (will share later) but my YouTube Recap is much more accurate (to my usage per app).
This is like 90% beats but it definitely reflects on my favorite beats.

“IMMACULATE” song-by-song bonus info
FL207 QuailExpress1 Lofi Earl IDLSIDGO Type Beat. This is actually the second version of the song, the original was twice as fast and what I like to call the “day shift” version of the song. The slowed down version I ended up using is sleepy and sluggish, but I like it better in general and it fits into the project much much better. I kind of just threw some shit on paper so to speak, I was going to “carve out” a song structure and take it in some different directions, but I ended up really liking the repetitive first draft (not to mention slowed down made the song full-length instantly). It makes me imagine a sort of train in cold rain, mostly empty, going somewhere for a specific purpose. As a passenger knowing your destination you are a little scared but it is also very whimsical and relaxing.
The core sample is called “030622 PIANO” by PenelopeRed:

Latin Poptrap Type Beat. In this batch of songs I downloaded a LOT of Spanish guitar loops. I love Spanish guitar already but I was also specifically looking to make something for a new friend from Columbia who showed interest in making trap music. I also love the sounds of the Latin pop/trap/reggaeton scene that I have heard in passing and wanted to make my own interpretation of the vibe without straight up trying to listen to it intentionally and copy it. This was easily my favorite sample out of the bunch, it demanded BEEG BEEEG energy and I knew upon hearing it it wouldn’t be enough to just make some cheap beat out of it, this ain’t for a beat it’s for a SONG ya feel. The original file of this song I was working on crashed, which was TERRIBLE, but I immediately started working on it again to try and recapture what was lost--I was worried it would be a shell of tis former self, but it honestly had more vigor than ever before. The end product definitely felt like one of my first ever “okay this is what a real, complete, professional quality song sounds like” productions and I jammed out to it for days.
The core sample is called “Por La Noche” by JuLeeBeats:

Old Willie G Type Beat. I hadn’t listened to XXXTENTACION’s “TEETH” prod. by Willie G for quite some time and I had forgotten the specifics of it, however I remembered his special style of percussion, the haunted piano, and the general emotion, so I tried to give it a shot, again without trying to go out of my way to emulate it directly. I was honestly pretty scared that it would sound like dogshit, so when I exported a first draft mp3 and played it loud through my car while stoned I was very happy that it seemed to have worked out in the end.

XXXTENTACION 17 Type Beat. Honestly the sample I found and used for this could easily carry a 3-minute song all by itself without a single other percussion or instrument, and I knew that I couldn’t squander it by anything sub-par. I freestyled to it several times to try and find some sort of song progression that really encapsulated the emotion, only scaled up massively; to me, it was either going to be a scaled back minimalist production the entire way, or it had to be a slow, story-like buildup that ended in dramatic proportions. As I set for the latter, I also tried something a little new to me, being a focus on the instrumentation instead of the percussion and bass. I pride myself on my percussion and bass, but I always felt instruments and melody and all that other stuff took a backseat to my production process. I wanted it to feel orchestral, like one of my favorite OSTs or the like. At first the product was a jumbled mess that had no sense or direction, but I kept chipping away at it and arrived at the final product, which I am very happy with.
The core sample is called “Madison” by beatsbymantra:

Chill Experimental Boom Bap Type Beat. I felt like there was a lot of different directions I wanted to take this sample. From sad, to hard-sad, to orchestral sad like the previous song, to super hard super dramatic, to trap, on and on. The first version of the song I did was super minimalist, very slow, very subdued. It definitely worked but I felt like it wasn’t quite what this project needed, as I was aiming for a little bit of mainstream appeal. That’s when I decided to try and incorporate some more drums to give it a little speed and energy, I was originally going for the famous high speed high energy Power Puff Girls drum thing (it has a name, I can’t remember what it was called) but I eventually settled on a medium fast-paced boom-bap clutter (what’s the difference, honestly?) and slowly added a little more intrigue to the song as I jumped around between the others.
The core sample is called “Lo-Fi Mafia Piano” by dig1tal:

FL212 Vektro6ixxa
Dark Trap 21/Drake/Rashad Type Beat. The direct inspiration for this song was the sort of secret surprise in Isaiah Rashad’s “The Sun’s Tirade,” a dark trappy ode called “a lot,” one of my favorites from the album. A sudden injection of gangster nihlism. War music--not the distorted raging war music like XXXTENTACION etc. but war music nonetheless. A very similar experience happened like I had with Slipping Away 333 where I was worried it would sound like dogshit, booted it up stoned, and blew my own socks off. Nice. No politics, just a celebration of shallow, sickening, plastic bad vibes.
The core sample is called “Music Box” by 808gabo:

Hyperpop x Future Bass/EDM Type Beat. Inspired by the emotion I get from Solsa’s Bladee type beats and the tidal wave of energy of the choruses from artists like Skrillex and Flume mixed with an unintentional OVERWERK-esque chord progression. Another type of song I had never done: one which radically changed from verse to chorus but managed to flow from one section to the next and back again. I was able to do “beat switches” before where the beat switched up dramatically, but not ever where I was able to return from where I had left. This song is probably the song the I have dedicated the most conscious energy to song storytelling, where exactly I wanted to go from point A to point B all the way to Z. I busted my technologically inept brain trying originally to p*rate Sylenth1, failed 3 times over, nearly pulled my hair out, and finally instead managed to p*rate Serum, fucked around, made the synths I wanted (also something I have almost never done before, certainly not to this scale), and boom boom boom. History, baby.
The core sample is called “Purgatory” by baby tekken:
