I have to say I was fully convinced that there would be some sort of thematic follow-up to the baking scene with buck and chris in 613 about buck parenting chris but it's honestly funnier that they just decided to casually put that in there. like don't you dare forget buck is christopher's other dad. we will check back in to remind you that buck is christopher's other dad when you least expect.

I really don’t understand why people are suddenly giving up on buddie. Especially with everything we got in the last episode.
I mean Eddie’s CATHOLIC GUILT finally being canon?? We used to dream about times like these. And yea, obviously, it wasn’t used the way we thought it would be. But I think it makes sense to introduce it in a comical way now, and then be able to reference it in his coming out journey later on. We all know how the homophobes would react if the first time they mentioned it was when Eddie was having his own realisation.
And don’t even get me started on the coming out scene. The way Eddie was more suprised that Tommy, a man he has known for less than a month, is gay, than the fact that his best friend of five years is suddenly into guys. Because, even though he’s not homophobic, he still has some preconceived notions of what a gay man should be like and a macho ex-military dude who’s into basketball and muay thai isn’t it.
And I know that we joked about how all these comparisons between Eddie and Tommy were being made to show us that Eddie is Buck’s type. But I think it’s also gonna play a big part in Eddie’s journey of self-acceptance.
Tumblr media
And thanks to Lou (bless him) we even know that the writers are talking about making Eddie canonically queer.
Tumblr media
And just because that arc fell through, that doesn’t mean it won’t still happen in a different way. It definitely makes more sense to have Eddie come to his realisation when he’s forced to confront all the toxic masculinity and catholic guilt he grew up with.
There’s also some people who are worried that either Buck/Tommy or Eddie/Marisol are gonna stay together for a long time, but I don’t think that’s the case for either of them.
Tumblr media
Not that Lou couldn’t come back later on, but as of right now it seems like ep 6 is his last. Which honestly makes me kind of sad because, even though buddie will always be endgame for me, he seems kind of fun.
Edy, on the other hand, annoyes the hell out of me and I hope her transphobic/homophobic ass won’t stay for much longer.

Fuck it Friday
Here's a little more of my Christmas Fic they don’t know (your name is already mine):
They all pile into the elevator, Bobby and Athena last, as the doors close he whips out his phone to send another text to Buck. Bobby: Doc says Eddie’s going to be fine but he’s staying the night, please call me when you get this.  He watches and waits for the three dots to appear but they don’t and it only causes the feeling in the pit of his stomach to widen. He tucks away his phone and grabs Athena’s hand, she immediately squeezes reassuringly and it helps ground him. “How’d you even know we were here?” Bobby hears Chim ask from somewhere behind him. “I-Me and Ravi were having…drinks,” Albert says, Bobby shares a look with his wife, apparently her hunch about that had been right, her smile is a small ‘told you so’ one.  “Without the rest of us?” Chim asks outraged and oblivious to the blatant lie. Bobby fights back a smile.  “Chim,” Hen says and Bobby can practically see her head shake without turning around, “Maybe there was a reason why they didn’t want us there.” “It is because we’re old? Because I’ll let you know I can still-” -The elevator dings as they arrive on the third floor, interrupting Chimney's rant and reminding them all why they were there.

So there is a "leaked" script that claims Eddie asked Marisol to move in, and is it just me, or is that completely out of character for Eddie? He dated Ana for longer, and they weren't living together. we are really supposed to believe that he would ask Marisol to move in after a few months of dating? Unless Eddie is unable to process anything after learning his Buck. Is dating a man that is not him, and instead of breaking up with her like he planned, he pulls a Buck and asks her to move in with him.
Eddie does not deserve to be stuck with someone like Marisol.
According to 7x04, he apparently needs a live-in babysitter so he can go out with his shiny new boyfriend. So… 🤣  And it took a whole relationship and a blackout before Ana was his babysitter! Just from that much I’m still going, yikes. Like, girl, do you not have friends? Do you not have someone who will tell you this relationship is red flags all over the place? Can we not call up your Folger brother and have him talk some sense into you?
You’re very right though. Eddie deserves so much better.
I have heard about the supposed leaked scripts and I’ll talk some about that under a cut below in case anyone wants to read my thoughts on it.
But what I’ll say in general is that in some of the interviews we’ve been seeing recently especially with canon bi!Buck, Mr. Showrunner had scathing things to say about love interests who are just there to be love interests. He didn’t like that they couldn’t interact with any of the other characters and that they weren’t part of the overall story.
Given we’ve had what, two? offhand comments and maybe five whole seconds of screen time this season with her, if they wanted to actually develop that relationship for the audience, they could have done that. And should have done that a long, long time ago. (For example, see Eddie and Tommy’s relationship. In one whole episode they did more to build that up than they have done for Eddie/allegedgirlfriendconfirmedterf in all of season 6 or 7.)
Instead, they showcased the bond between Buck and the Diazes and the trauma that Eddie and Chris still have over Shannon leaving and them losing her. And also Eddie’s new friendship with Tommy that sounded like they were both spending every day, every moment together.
So far for Miss Homophobe, we have—
hey mari it me eddie from the hardware store
the phone call where they set up a date
it's not MY date it's CHRIS' date (r u sure, dude? why is she there then 🤣)
her chaperoning Chris’ date with Eddie
her babysitting twice off screen
Obviously, she’s in the next episode and they have a pizza date while Eddie has to stare at his bestest friends while they’re on a date. But at this point, if you want the audience to root for the relationship or enjoy it at the very least, it’s a little late in the game for that? We have nothing to go on and it doesn’t make sense if we’re taking it at face value.
All this to say, if he does ask her to move in with him, there is no way for the audience to buy that it’s genuine, reasonable, or a smart move. It reads like Buck asking Taylor to move in with him because he cheated and he’s desperate and clinging. Even if Eddie and the terf show up and are all happy and handsy and lovey, it’s not convincing. There’s been no development. It would come across like Buck and Ali apartment hunting and being touchy and giggly, and then her dumping him at the end of the episode. It sets up a contrast between what we think is happening and what is really happening. Perceived happiness vs the reality of not knowing each other and their relationship crumbling.
I don’t remember who said it or when it was said, maybe it was Kristen? But I know someone talked about how Eddie rushed things with Ana and they were wanting to do the opposite when continuing his story. Dating someone for (how long has it even been? 2-3 months? Idek? Does Eddie even know?) Mere months and asking them to move in reeks of, “something is going wrong and I have to fix it by doing something rash and ill-advised to keep us together.”
Remind me to do a post about Eddie also being someone who clings and stays because it’s convenient and he doesn’t want to be alone.
It would be completely out of character if it is a sincere, legit thing. However, as a panic response? I buy it. But that also doesn’t bode well for their future. Darn. Hold on, I’ll get the champagne. That relationship is just waiting to be bones. And in an episode called, “You Don’t Know Me,” is where they’re putting their relationship under a microscope? Hildy, cue up the ominous music.
I doubt the glorious day we are free of her will be this week. I think they are just starting whatever they have planned. Unfortunately. I would hope they kept her around and brought her back for a reason like what they did with Eddie/Ana. I want there to be something satisfying about the end and the fact that we have to suffer through this. It just needs to happen quickly because I am so over homophobic terfs who know what fucking show they’re on and what the story is and still persist in their assholish bigotry.
Now? My thoughts on the leaks?
IF we are to believe they are legit, and who knows if they are. But if we are saying they are legit, then Buck comes out to Eddie at the very end and Eddie is surprised. So, Eddie likely wouldn’t be jealous or weird about Buck and Tommy dating if he didn’t even know they are dating. Plus, they just had a whole episode dedicated to jealous!Buck and it would be redundant to immediately take that into, now EDDIE is the JEALOUS ONE. I think they’d have to take the story further for Eddie to really consider how he feels about Buck and Tommy dating.
Maybe it will come down to him being displeased by it (for some unknown reason he just can't put his finger on) and grappling with how he genuinely likes Tommy a lot and that’s a new thing for him and one of Buck’s love interests? But it wouldn’t happen this week. In theory, this week is about Buck feeling like he’s hiding because he just realized he’s bi and hasn’t told anyone yet. Hence, more of the “you don’t know me.”
Obviously, I am rooting for Buddie. All the way. All the time. I like Buck/Tommy just fine but they’re not BuckandEddie. But I think it will take a while before we see anything that might really develop the Buck & Eddie storyline. They’re working on Buck’s bisexual awakening and his first time dating a man. WHERE OH WHERE ARE MY EDDIE STORYLINES.  I just want them to do some justice for my boy. Give him something interesting! And for the terf to gtf away from him. :D
And apologies, I rambled a lot at you. Love and hugs!

That interview where Ryan says Buck and Eddie are going to be closer than ever (yknow the one where he is bright red and got all our hopes up) has kinda shifted in my mind bc of the rumours of Buck’s money troubles, like now “closer than ever” feels like just a way of saying they will live together idk

I'm talking about the supposed ""leaks"" regarding 7x05 under the cut so be careful if you don't wanna know!!
buddieblr is so joyous right now (apart from some people that I'm ignoring because they lack common sense idk) and I'm so worried that if the leaks from 7x05 are true it's gonna become a fucking mess in here
like Eddie asking Marisol to move in with him (which would make me?? because 1) she has had 5 seconds of screen time 2) it would be too reminiscent of the whole buck/taylor thing) + Eddie supposedly calling buck his "brother" during buck's coming out scene (which btw. I don't think would be as big of a deal as people are making it out to be 😭 but I digress) .... I fear if these two things happen there may be a fucking mess in here
But also I always tend to assume the worst as a defense mechanism so ignore me 🫶🏻

I hope when Buck is ready to fuck Tommy, after lots of research and experimentation, and he is ramming his firehose into that man's prostate like he’s trying to pulverize it, and Tommy is unable to speak because of how good it feels, Buck, suddenly stops and tells him with a shit eating grin:
"See? I told you I was a good ally" and then Buck resumes his punishing pace while Tommy blacks out for a second, cumming the hardest he's ever had in a while.

I am starting think that maybe the jealousy we’re gonna be seeing from Buck won’t be over Eddie having a new friend, because it had kinda been established last season that Eddie does socialize outside of Buck (the secret poker night Buck didn’t even know about). I think it might be more likely he’s jealous cause he thinks Eddie’s interested in being Tommy’s partner at work. Tommy encourages to join him in air rescue, Buck lashes out during the basketball game, & the episode ends with Eddie reassuring Buck they’ll be partners no matter where they work or who they work with.

So, I saw the script leaks before the episode aired for the buddie kitchen scene. I had no idea if they were going to be real or not, but as the scene started to really kick in, I practically could quote it. The scene we got was soooo close, practically word for word so I was bracing myself for what was coming. But, they left out one key bit - the "I love you, brother" and " "I love you, too."
I wonder what was behind the choice to cut it out. Maybe they had it prepared based on the audience reaction to 7x04 and wanted to see if they needed to keep it to really dig into the brother dynamic? OR they cut it because they saw that based on the reaction that buddie in the future can actually be possible and they did not want to have an "I love you, brother," hanging out in the minds of the general audience for when they do.
I just find that interesting....

If (and there is much emphasis on that if) that kitchen scene of Buck and Eddie does involve one of them saying ‘brother’ to me it is the biggest misdirect ever. Like sure those may be the words, but the lighting, intimacy, looks and hand placements scream otherwise. And Ik it’s just two out of context stills so I can’t really know anything at this point. But. it could be like one last moment of denial before a probable revelation at the end of the season by one of them that actually they don’t see their relationship this way.

from chapter 17 (three ish scenes left to write??? it’s almost there!)
In the morning, Buck is quieter than usual but mostly seems like himself. He does stare at Chris like he’s terrified Chris might collapse any moment. Eddie makes a point to stay close and wrap around him and shower him with extra affection. It makes Buck melt a little more and more each time with every tiny kiss and every hug and all the ways Eddie rubs his back and his neck and seeks out his hand until their fingers are threaded together.
Buck almost puts off his dinner with Maddie because he seems reluctant to stop being plastered to Eddie’s side. But Eddie pulls up the recent pictures Maddie sent to Buck and reminds him of the little girl who misses her uncle, and Buck changes his mind.
Eddie kisses his cheek at the door and Buck promises to text when he’s at Maddie and Chimney’s house.
When Eddie closes the door behind him and turns around, Chris is in the middle of the living room with that suspicious, calculating look on his face.
“Dad,” he says in his most serious but also concerned tone. The one he sometimes uses when Eddie teases him about vibe checks and #Moods and yeeting things, and Chris tells him he’s so embarrassing.
But that’s part of the whole fun of it.
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him. “Christopher.”
It earns him an eye roll and a rather whiny, very teenage rendition of, “Daaaad.”
“Yes, mijo, mi vida, mi cielo,” he says and can only think of Pepa when he does. She loves to do the same. Edmundo, mi amor, mi conejito being her most recent and most favorite. Eddie goes over to the TV and digs out controllers and a selection of video games instead of waiting for an answer. “You want to play something with me?”
Chris holds onto the arm of the couch with one hand and puts the other on his side near his hip. “No. You’re trying to distract me. We need to talk.”
Eddie sets down the games but puts the controllers on the coffee table not far out of reach, and then takes a seat on the sofa. He pats the spot beside him and waits for Chris to join him before he asks, “What do we need to talk about?”
He receives a look like Eddie should know exactly what, but Chris answers anyway. “You and Buck.”
Eddie’s stomach tenses but he tries not to let anything show. “What about us?”
“You like him.”
Eddie bites his tongue and purses his lips. “Of course I like him. He’s our Buck. He’s our best friend.”
“No, Dad. I mean you like him like him. Like you want to date him because you like him.”
Yeah, Eddie was well aware what he meant.
“Or you’re already dating him? Are you dating Buck? Is that why he’s living here? Because you’re all flirty and kissy and you call him cute. And you share a bedroom. Like parents do. Like ones who are married. Is that what’s going on?”
God, how can he even begin to explain all of it. Especially when he’s stuck on the fact that his son knows the definition of the word flirty because he’s supposed to be seven and he’s not supposed to know things like that.
Except he’s not seven, he’s nearly thirteen and he’s always been far, far too smart for Eddie. “No. We’re not technically dating.”
Chris’ eyes narrow and he turns even more suspicious. “Are you just— are you doing it? Is that what it is?”
Okay. Okay, no. No, Eddie is not prepared for that. Questions about his sex life or lack thereof are bad enough coming from anyone else he knows. But from his son? His not even teenage son? Jesus Christ.
“No, Chris. We’re not.” He gets up off the couch and doesn’t know what to do or where to go, just that he wants to run and this is not a conversation they should have. He takes a few steps back and forth in front of the coffee table and puts his hands on his hips. “Why are you asking about this?”
“Because, Dad.” Chris makes frustrated gestures with both hands. “You don’t tell me these things. And I should know. I am old enough to know. If you are dating someone, they could be my stepparent. It’s part of my life, too. So, I need to know. You said you weren’t going to date anymore because Miss Flores had to leave and Raúl did, too. But now Raúl is around again? And you and Buck act like you’re married. And I don’t know what is going on but I don’t like losing people and I don’t know what we would do without Buck but I should get to know what is going on.”

Honestly, even setting aside the whole Buddie of it all, it all sounded like such an out of the blue, poorly conceived idea. So she might have been a nun and he’s got a problem with that? Is it because he hasn’t bothered to get to know her and now he’s shocked she didn’t tell him something and he doesn’t actually know her? Or because they in theory can’t fuck? Because both of those are questionable at best.
I agree with you about how the show just made Buck bi, so they are likely to double down on Eddie being “straight,” and in theory they have kept her around for SOME REASON because she’s had what five seconds of screen time and a couple mentions that she babysat Chris. And yet she’s still “there.” They actually did more to develop a relationship between Eddie and Tommy in one episode than they’ve done to develop the disaster with Marisol the whole time she’s been around. So who knows. It’s really late in the game to try and develop this now. They had chances and didn’t take it. So how would you ever get the audience on board? Tim already stated he doesn’t like relationships where the love interest can’t be involved in the story other than being a love interest. Idk it all seems like a waste of time to me lol
As far as the Buck coming out to Eddie scene, imo calling him brother (and hugging him and telling him he loves him brother - also in the supposed script) really seems like it could be Eddie reacting in a “I have to make this okay and reassure him of our unending connection” and that’s the only language he has for what they are atm.
But who knows if any of it is actually real. They change things all the time anyway.
I just think they could do a couple having intimacy issues without it being based on something super religiousy, you know? Like fine if it is, but also, it would show her more as a human if she was like “Yeah, you know, I’m just scared of being that vulnerable with someone.” Boom, we’d have character for her, which as of right now, we have none of.
I don’t think they know how to develop her character, and with that, the fine details of the relationship, with the lack of time that she has. We know she spends a lot of time with Chris, and that she and Eddie are close enough for her to be around all the time for stuff, but that’s about it. If they had built her like a real character I think I’d give more of a shit about her.
Dude, I swear when I wrote my brother examples I wrote “I love you, brother” first but then erased it because I thought it was too on the nose. Glad to know the writers and I are writing the exact same show when it comes to dialogue. I think that as of right now, the show is making Eddie straight just to make him straight. But I think in season 8, if they want to (pleaseeee) they could easily walk back Eddie calling him brother. It just feels very pointed that Buck is now bi and Eddie calls him brother when they haven’t ever called each other that (since early season 2) before. Almost like the show saying “look, Buck can like guys, can kiss guys, just not this one.”
Season 7 is fully written. But season 8 hasn’t even been started yet. We can only hope that they don’t do anything irreversible to Buddie this season.
