At first this scene seems normal, like its not a big deal, she needed a mic. Its sweet, but not a big deal. Hes just helping her get her point across.

Until…

This scene. Alastor is worried, I means look in his eyes, and we see that after his staff took damage he retreated and his shadows disappeared, leading me to believe his staff is some source of power. So, not only did he lend Charlie his support in a fight, he lent her his trust. Cause, anything could have happend once he gave it to her. But he trusted her. And nothing did happen.

LET'S GOOOOOO <3 I love you forever and always, AO3!!!

Context:

I originally started using the tag "Vox's One-Sided Psychosexual Obsession With Alastor (Hazbin Hotel)" for my fic series 666: Live On Air! and a lot of people thought it was snazzy enough to use in their own fics, to the point where there are now multiple pages of fics that use that tag! I recently noticed that the tag "Vox's Obsession with Alastor (TM)" got canonized, which was awesome!

However, out of the 71 works in that tag at the time of me noticing, 56 used at least the word "psychosexual" and most included the entire original tag I had started with. So I (honestly mostly figuring it was a long shot) sent AO3 Support an email mentioning that and asking if they could also canonize the original, because I genuinely thought it was both a well-liked and useful tag in full.

AND THEY DID! I AM SO PLEASED.

Can I please request the hotel staff with a parental reader? Like they’re always so sweet and kind and helpful, then during the final fight of season 1 they see one of the hotel staff get hurt and just lose their shit?

Wait does this mean...

Someone is actually IN Alastors staff-

And he seems to care a lot about his staff, so what if the soul in his staff was someone he really cared about?

My theory is that it could be his mother and she had died to angelic weapons (although it is also possible she went to heaven) He holds her close always and only lends it to people he seems to trust. (It is said by viv that he is a momma's boy)

On the other hand, the staff broke, which would be really upsetting. He was really startled by this, and perhaps this was a contributing reason for why he finally snapped the way he did.

If this is true, I wonder what this might mean for al and how he'll act in season 2. What do you think?

So it's basically established that Alastors staff is the source of a lot of his power, right? Like, as soon as Adam breaks it, Alastors radio voice breaks, his kaiju form disappears, and he can't do anything but run away.

What does it mean, then, that he handed it off to Charlie in cannibal town for a few minutes so she could sing her song? What kind of display of trust is that? He's clearly uncomfortable without it, taking it back the very moment it doesn't look like she needs it anymore. Is it just that he knows that Charlie can't really hurt him? That if it came down to it he could call in his favor to get his staff back? Is it because he's surrounded by no one but Rosie and her cannibals? He feels safe enough to let his guard down in the closest thing he has to a home in hell. It's the second most vulnerable we ever see him, and he does it so casually. What kind of trust is implied in that simple action?
