can you elaborate a bit on your terf survey? like are people gonna talk about their experience with terfs or are you actually gonna question terfs? and what kinda questions would be there?

I will try to ask TERFs directly - hoping not to get socially desirable answers. This survey will also be designed through an anonymous questionnaire so that I can avoid any bias.

Those are the scales I'm going to use. Most of them are free to read (Google Scholar), so you can look into the items:

Transphobia Scale (Nagoshi et al., 2008): Building on Hill and Willoughby's (2005) GTS, this much shorter scale focuses only on transphobia and not homophobia. It includes items on transsexuality, the fluid transition of gender identities, and how deviations from heteronormative expressions play out in terms of gender identity.

Women's Movement Scale (FWM; Fassinger, 1994): With a total of 10 items, the FWM measures attitudes toward feminism and the women's movement.

Motivation to Behave without Prejudice Scale (MVV-16; Banse & Gawronski, 2003): The MVV is used to measure prejudice and stereotypes toward minorities with a total of 16 items, divided into the three subscales "behavioral control," "admitting own prejudice," and "prejudice-free self-representation."

Short scale for the two-dimensional assessment of social desirability (Winkler et al., 2006): Based on the Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding (BIDR; Paulhus, 1991), this short scale includes 6 of the instead of 40 items and captures both self- and other-deception. Following the Eysenck & Eysenck (1975) lying scale used by Hill and Willoughby (2005), this study also aims to control for the extent to which participants answer items benevolently in order to look as positive as possible.

Ambivalent sexism (ASI; Rollero et al., 2014; Glick & Fiske, 1996): Nagoshi et al. (2008) already found a relationship between transphobia and ambivalent sexism in their study. Nevertheless, due to the strong overlap of antifeminism and ambivalent sexism, Glick and Fiske's (1996) scale will be used in this study. Benevolent sexism (BS) includes attitudes toward women that appear positive to the observer because they involve prosocial and proximity-seeking behaviors. Hostile sexism (HS), on the other hand, involves a classic defensive attitude toward women.

Authoritarianism (KSA-3; Beierlein et al., 2014): Following Nagoshi et al. (2008), transphobia is correlated with authoritarianism to confirm or reject existing findings. The KSA-3 scale consists of a total of 9 items with an answer format of 1 = "strongly disagree" to 5 = "strongly agree."

Social Dominance (SDO; Ksenofontov, 2016; Ho et al., 2015): On a 7-point scale, participants are asked to assess their attitudes toward groups. According to the Dual Process Theory (Asbrock et al., 2010), a correlation between authoritarianism and SDO can be assumed. Therefore, it is investigated whether transphobia also correlates with social dominance. The SDO consists of a total of 8 items with the response format 1 = "strongly disagree" to 7 = "strongly agree".

Demographics: In addition to the above scales and items, demographic data such as age, gender (m/f/x), and sexual orientation (heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, other) are asked. Education and ethnicity are also recorded with one item each.
