I don’t know if anyone else has had the same thought, but:

Brianna, Roger and their family are Brian and Ellen family 2.0.

Roger has been compared to Black Brian often over the past few books, they are both kind, tall and dark-haired.

People always comment on how much Brianna looks like Ellen. Hell, Brian mistakes her for Ellen when he accidentally sees her at 1739 Lallybroch. Plus she is a gifted artist like Ellen as well.

Jem has inherited the MacKenzie red hair and features. Jamie’s brother Willie was also a redhead.

Mandy, much like Jenny, is small and dark-haired, having taken after her father in looks.

It’s unclear what Davy will look like, but it stands to reason that he will be a redhead and inherit the MacKenzie features. Also, Davy was compared to Jamie, as Mandy said that they both look like ‘water’ in her mind. Perhaps Davy will not be a time traveller but will be able to travel through dreams like Jamie?

Day 17: Favorite Brianna scene

For me, it has to be when she first meets Jamie. This scene is one I wish I could watch for the very first time again, it was so emotional and impactful and perfectly acted by Sophie and Sam. His tears for seeing her in front of him –a child he never believed he would see, know, or raise– for the first time was just perfect.

Follow it up with their reunion with Claire and I was an emotional wreck 🥹

Wednesday 100: Reflections

Claire

The things she'd imagined when they were apart were so often large: Jamie holding Brianna newly born, the two of them working to raise her and Fergus, perhaps more children someday. The harshness of survival, but joyous milestones still: anniversaries, each new year together.

Claire finds instead that their life is made of so many small things: Jamie's hands, his quiet smile, as he teaches her to knit or shoot, the warmth of him in the night, shared glances at Ian's latest foolishness, morning cups of tea in bed. A thousand tiny togethernesses, all more than she'd remembered to dream.

Marsali

Sometimes Marsali thinks if she could return to those early months, she'd give her younger self a good smack: for mouthing off about whores, for giving a cold shoulder without understanding the history. But she also remembers her reasons, the disappointment that Jamie Fraser made mistakes, the fear over what might become of them without him — Ma needed a man, and the next could be so much worse.

In the end, she's grateful for the way things turned out. Yet how strange and difficult that her life — husband, children, home — only came about through the pain of people she loves.

Brianna

Bree never considered her parents’ separate beds to be anything strange; that's what people had on television, after all. But now she sees — on the road from Wilmington, when she'd come into the cabin early or happens into their bedroom at the Big House — how Mama always sleeps touching Da, the way Da has a slight smile simply from having her close.

She wouldn't want to erase her childhood: the times with Daddy, the good memories and the sharp, shaping ones. Still, she wonders how life might have been different if she'd been raised with this sort of love as her foundation.
