100% noooo, it's not a rule in-universe and never will be. The implications of having a "two-child reproductive policy" in a Clan would be horrific in implication, especially since a major theme of the narrative is anti-authoritarianism

It's always followed because as a writer I'm trying to avoid incest while preventing Clans from being bloated. Having 3 descendants who have descendants of their own is an exponential nightmare of familial tracking in a small group and the major reason why canon Clans are so profoundly uncomfortable, something has to buckle here.

A genetically realistic ethnic group like the Clans would end up having upwards of 100 members. It's one or the other-- I embrace bloat, or I work with a couple of rules and be careful about which characters I choose to go on and have kids.

So, the characters will never notice nor comment on this rule, unlike the Queen's Rights which is an actual social force in-canon. I'm really not interested in it being a StarClan curse either because they'd probably want Clans to be massive.

It's completely a meta rule for how I fix family trees; one of my Three Strict ones.
