Everything Goes On
I listened to Everything Goes On by Porter Robinson recently after not listening to it for a while, and I was hit with a thought due to hyperfixation: "This could fit The Locked Tomb series"
So! Let's dive into it!
Contains spoilers for the series as a whole
(Does this make sense? I'm not sure, but we try to voice our thoughts anyways!)
Don't try to make yourself remember, darling Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told So let's pretend a little longer 'Cause when we're gone Everything goes on
This feels like a general theme for the series (GTN, HTN, NTN), seeing how it's the chorus, but specific lines can relate to different points in the series.
"Don't try to make yourself remember, darling": Harrow's lobotomy to forget Gideon and preserve her soul OR Nona's amnesia, which remembering led to her slowly start to die
"Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told": Again, running with the idea that this is Harrow's lobotomy, except told from the POV of Gideon
"So let's pretend a little longer": Alecto chastising Pyrrha for "playing family" OR Harrow and Gideon pretending to hate each other more than they actually did (questionable) to deal with their own self-hatred
"'Cause when we're gone Everything goes on": This screams of Paul's quote of "You can't take away loved". Everything goes on despite us being gone. This also screams of Gideon's sacrifice as Harrow still has to live on, and Nona's yearning to live.
Well, you were staring at the window And I said, "I wanna take you to the sea" And when I'm better, we'll do everything I gotta stop making promises I can't keep
This feels like the beginning of GTN, when Gideon and Harrow are leaving for the Canaan House. Gideon is the one who's saying this to Harrow, and we all know why she can't keep that promise.
But if I was gone tomorrow, won't the waves crash on? Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun? Someday I'll be overcast, but you won't have to cry 'Cause we'll do the grieving while I'm by your side I said
This reminds me of Nona and Gideon, but mostly Nona. Swimming with the jellyfish and happy despite dying and the world going to hell around her.
But the latter parts, about being overcast? That's Harrow's messed-up Lyctorhood. She's grieving for Gideon while Gideon's by her side (in a way).
Don't try to make yourself remember, darling Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told So let's pretend a little longer 'Cause when we're gone Everything goes on
See above
And I'm so scared of getting used to this All the vines that keep you tethered in your room Someday both of us are leaving here But for now, I'll just bring to the sea to you, ooh
This is everyone. Everyone's scared. Gideon was scared of never escaping or receiving proper attention or love. Harrow was scared of failing the Ninth House and forgetting Gideon. Nona was scared of dying and remembering who she was (and her tantrums).
The last two lines are largely reminiscent of the end of HTN, when both souls leave their respective body (bodies?), and also feels like Nona in a way (she loves her ocean dips).
When you meet me in the daylight like we did before Then I felt you on my shoulder, and you weren't suffering anymore You said, "I'm sorry that you worry, but don't apologize" I told you to forget me, but you stayed by my side When I said
Nona and Kiriona meeting. But they're both suffering so much, so the second line could read as sarcasm from either party.
The third line onwards could also read as Harrow and Gideon. Harrow in her attempt to forget and Gideon in her stubbornness to stay and live within the depths of Harrow's mind.
Don't try to make yourself remember, darling Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told So let's pretend a little longer And when we're gone, ah Everything goes on

Quote
Robinson’s main claim is that Genesis invented a kind of realism—this-worldly, nonmythological—remarkably akin to our understanding of the term. This is outrageous, impossible to defend—if you’re a literary historian. But she’s not doing history. She’s writing an essay about biblical style and its implications. She wants us to see how radical scripture is compared with its sources. For one thing, it’s human-centered. The Babylonian epics that the Bible recasts—the Enuma Elish, the Epic of Gilgamesh—tell the origin myths of a passel of quarrelsome gods. The Enuma Elish’s gods created people so that they would serve their Creators—build their temples, grow their food. “There is nothing exalted in this, no thought of enchanting these nameless drudges with the beauty of the world,” Robinson writes. In Genesis, by contrast, humankind is made in God’s image; all the sublimity of biblical Creation seems to be meant for its benefit. We move from gods indifferent to our well-being to a God obsessively focused on us. Why that happens is not immediately clear. The protagonists of Genesis are unlikely candidates for God’s solicitude. One innovation of the Western novel is to shift the emphasis from great men and women to ordinary people in ordinary circumstances. But the biblical author is also interested in unexceptional folk. The founding fathers and mothers of Israel aren’t kings or warriors or, like Moses, a former prince who rescues an enslaved nation. The patriarchs raise sheep. Indeed, God seems to pick his covenantal partner, Abraham, at random. Why bind himself to a son of idolaters “drifting through the countryside, looking for grazing for his herds,” in Robinson’s words? Why not the next guy? Apologists wave away that theological conundrum—the apparent contingency of election—by claiming that Abraham is unusually righteous, Kierkegaard’s exemplary “knight of faith.” But if Abraham is indeed thoroughly good, he’s the exception. Every other major character in Genesis has an unsavory side. God made a covenant with Noah, too, for instance, and although he is chosen to survive the flood because he is a righteous man, he isn’t afterward. He gets dead drunk, and his son Ham sees him naked in his tent. Ham tells his brothers; they enter the tent backwards, averting their eyes, and cover him with a blanket. Noah wakes up, feels humiliated, blames Ham, and lays a curse—not on Ham but on Ham’s son Canaan, who is condemned to be a slave to Ham’s brothers. The Bible offers no excuse for Noah’s cruelty, or for many other misdeeds committed by its chosen people. “There is nothing for which the Hebrew writers are more remarkable than their willingness to record and to ponder the most painful passages in their history,” Robinson writes.

Portland Trail Blazers Deal Draft Rights of Tanguy Ngombo for Second Rounder
Tumblr media
On June 27th, 2011, the Portland Trail Blazers traded the draft rights of Tanguy Ngombo to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a 2015 second round draft pick (Richaun Holmes).
A wise person once said that age is a state of mind. For incoming NBA hopeful Tanguy Ngombo, age would be a huge factor in his brief NBA story. Born in the Congo, Ngombo had established himself as a professional basketball player in the Qatar Basketball League.
A relative unknown out of Qatar, Ngombo was selected 57th overall by the Dallas Mavericks. His rights were subsequently dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade also involving the Denver Nuggets. The Minnesota Timberwolves had significant interest in Ngombo. The Wolves had no roster spot so they were looking for a prospect that they could draft and stash overseas.
They worked out a pre-arranged deal with the Blazers to acquire the 6-foot-7 combo forward for a future second round draft pick in 2015 that was the least favorable of 2015 picks owned by the Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets.
This is where the story gets interesting. Just a day after the draft, Jonathan Givony of Draft Express and European scout Simon Jatsch discovered that Ngombo’s age was a lie. Ngombo had said that his age was 21 (born in 1989) at the time, but there was proof that he was five years older based on previous FIBA tournaments that he participated in. The age discrepancy made Ngombo ineligible to be drafted since he would be 26 years old and over the maximum drafting age of 22.
Timberwolves director of player personnel and scouting Pete Philo had to figure out the truth and he explained in a VICE story years later.
“I told [Ngombo] about the reports out there,” Philo says. “He said he didn’t know what I was talking about, he's born in 1989. I asked him if he was absolutely positive, that there were reports that you played in a tournament years ago under a 1984 birthday. Tanguy explained that if this is true he had no knowledge of it, which led to me asking him what he meant by ‘to his knowledge.’ That led to him saying something really interesting, in my mind.”
Which was?
“As far as I know, that's how old I am.”
Philo says he asked Ngombo what he meant by that. Ngombo told him he didn’t know what a birth certificate was. So Philo asked Ngombo if he had his passport on him.
According to Philo, Ngombo answered that “the sheikh had it.”
The sheikh, Philo says, was a Qatari who took care of Ngombo. (Philo doesn’t remember his name, and doesn't know if the sheikh was responsible for bringing Ngombo to the country in the first place). It turned out Ngombo didn’t hold his own passport on a daily basis; he only had access to it when he went through customs. Philo told Ngombo to get his passport immediately, so he could fax images of it to the league office and put to bed a problem that was now holding up a multiple-team trade.
A week later, Philo got a copy of Ngombo’s passport. It said that Ngombo's birthday was 1989. But there was a problem. “It looked like it was brand new, just done,” Philo says. “My assumption is that he never got his [real] passport. Tanguy felt so nervous—and I don’t know this for a fact, I’m guessing—but I think he went and had a passport made on his own because the sheikh wouldn’t give him the passport.”
The Timberwolves were never able to prove Ngombo’s true age. Despite the age snafu, the NBA decided to let the Ngombo trade happen and only investigate if the Wolves ever decided to pursue signing him. That would never happen. Ngombo never played a game in the NBA, and the Wolves later renounced their rights to him two years later after Flip Saunders replaced David Kahn in the front office.
The Blazers held on to the second rounder they acquired in the Ngombo deal for more than two years, before dealing it to the Houston Rockets in a July 2013 deal that brought former lottery pick Thomas Robinson to the Blazers.
Nearly another two years passed before the Rockets traded the pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal involving Isaiah Canaan and K.J. McDaniels. During the 2015 NBA Draft, the pick ended up in the 37th spot and the 76ers selected center Richaun Holmes from Bowling Green State University.
Tanguy Ngombo on his brief tenure in Minnesota several years later (via Qatar Gulf-Times):
“I was invited and went to Minnesota to play in the Summer League but they didn’t offer me a guaranteed contract, which I already had with Al Rayyan. My club didn’t release me and I had to come back to Doha.
“The NBA experience was too short, but nice and useful. Rick Adelman was the coach and I would’ve loved to play together with Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic, Ricky Rubio and Wesley Johnson, but it didn’t happen. However, life goes on and I am happy to play basketball and be now in Ashgabat to fight for a gold medal.”
Portland Trail Blazers interim general manager Chad Buchanan on the selection of Ngombo before a trade was announced (via the Oregonian):
“All I can say is we are currently in discussions about trading the rights to the 57th pick.”

Megalodon (2018) #SharkWeak3🦈 Review
This is one fish tale that's hard to swallow. Megalodon (2018) #SharkWeak3 #Review
Star names are no rarity when it comes to bad shark movies, but there are two distinct styles the genre adopts. Some, like say Kirsty Swanson in “Swamp Shark” are in the movie for the long haul whereas others, like Michael Madsen in this movie, were obviously filmed in a couple of hours one morning when he threw on a jumpsuit mumbled his way through the script, grabbed his cheque and headed home.

Restaurant, shops, kinyozi, sbu u names make people wild even with buses, Nissan or taxi, they ought just to give them numbers at the time of registration like hotel 1, 2 or 3, pub 3, 4 or 5, van 3, 7 or 9. As this eliminates class and envy as excitement and gears people towards work dude.

They give rise to kids to take to other dudes to father yet with them u see them in big cars minus those kids, just wanna burden people to via their movies say if their kids near ya u became like them not knowing they are finished in oil and artificial cooking oil as pawpaw grows in diverse nations used to make gadgets.
Britain can sink down as with all the explanation of 2 in 1 4 coil generator, kinda, u feel a huge thing like dinosaurs trampling on the ground and uk picture cames to ya mind they have refused to listen. They will meet their ends together, the jew family and Britain with their dirty ways of trade and lack of understanding
Some friends are making gadgets even in their sitting room like carlirecords studio yet the kikuyu still says they are made, they need collection from Kenyans all-over the world then get to that hall with people and make this gadgets when seeing or put in a camera to stop all. They are still in jealousy bro.
The below link shows how to counteract dubious business that promotes class and hooliganism among those people who can make artificial oil and sell among the original 1, don’t buy oil in supermarkets cause u promote the above, buy sunflower, groundnuts or simsim from the firm not artificial 1 and make ya own

Bottles they now make like plastic water bottles or kbl liquor ones or soda ones, take the daily inventory of how much are always collected then hinder the people who supply them by reducing price and take them there to gain in a 100% basis as they don’t locate dem but make them thus refuting that they are made 4 people not to know and promote their dubious culture. Barcodes should be place in the above bottle so that the people who take them got the barcode scanner to identify if they were from store or made to stop the down behavior and the people who take them be given certificate to identify them and how much can be taken per day not just taking any amount. They ones which were not in store cant be sold but crushed to be mixed with cement 4 building or filling up query or making other gadget like welding plates under spit on the container method in the dark dude
If u like sweet food or just food it tells you love something very much which people wanna know and have not know or known, but to ya its a hurdle, that’s the investigation bro.
Making it a routine in discussing people past character even if bad make u not go nowhere, blocks ya way and most luos and many tribe champion themselves in this but they know not and that’s why they never go far, u let it go free dude
Up 2 10 a/c in following this a/c I opened in 1 computer in town but whenever I got back to them I just change the password not to get back to it, like I still got like 7 a/c which I will use later including this 1, so which computer did I open them in to switch a/c bro? Think twice dude, time is of the essence!!!

A timer that is automatic that sense a drop of voltage at 9 v from 12 v to start charging the battery for 6 hrs then stops no-matter the voltage being at 11-12 v depending on the newness of the wet cell but with a 24 v battery but on a solar charger controller it sense the drop at maybe 12 then switches of automatically to do the above
With making food with cut pieces or chop parts of that maybe fruit, u hit the cut fruit from far with a long rod or stick then dismount and boom ya food formed.
I can use bolt browser but i lie i used mozilar to make u employ all the tactics to shift dat a/c which will never happen, kinda, wasting ya time rather accept
Dont start giving kebi names when defeated, shift a/.c boss or accept he is above ya, nothing u know compared to him under the sun as in ecclesiastics

Where top VCs are investing in fintech
Over the past several years, ‘fintech’ has quietly become the unsung darling of venture.
A rapidly swelling pool of new startups is taking aim at the large incumbent institutions, complex processes and outdated unfriendly interfaces that mar billion dollar financial services verticals, such as insurtech, consumer lending, personal finance, or otherwise.
In just the past summer, the startup community saw a multitude of hundred-million dollar fintech fundraises. In 2018, fintech companies were the source of close to 1,300 venture deals worth over $15 billion in North America and Europe alone according to data from Pitchbook. Over the same period, KPMG estimates that over $52 billion in investment pour into fintech initiatives globally.
With the non-stop stream of venture capital flowing into the never-ending list of spaces that fall under the ‘fintech’ umbrella, we asked 12 leading fintech VCs who work at firms that span early to growth stages to share where they see the most opportunity and how they see the market evolving over the long-term.
Charles Birnbaum, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners
Ian Sigalow, Co-founder & Partner at Greycroft
Matt Harris, Partner at Bain Capital Ventures
Angela Strange, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz.
Adam Valkin, Managing Director at General Catalyst
Rob Moffat, Partner at Balderton Capital
Brendan Dickinson, Partner at Canaan Partners
Manuel Silva, Partner at Santander InnoVentures
Ruth Foxe Blader, Managing Director at Anthemis
Sean Park, Chief Investment Officer at Anthemis
Amol Helekar, Principal at TCV
Jim Robinson, General Partner at RRE Ventures
The participants touched on a number of key trends in the space, including rapid innovation in fintech infrastructure, fintech companies embedding themselves in specific verticals and platforms, rebundling and unbundling of financial services offerings, the rise of challenger banks and the state of fintech valuations into 2020.
Charles Birnbaum, Partner, Bessemer Venture Partners
The great ‘rebundling’ of fintech innovation is in full swing. The emerging consumer leaders in fintech — Chime, SoFi, Robinhood, Credit Karma, and Bessemer portfolio company Betterment — are moving quickly to increase their share of wallet with their valuable customers and become a one-stop-shop for people’s financial lives.
In 2020, we anticipate continued entrepreneurial activity and investor enthusiasm around the infrastructure and middleware layers within the fintech ecosystem that are enabling further rebundling and a rapid convergence of product themes and business models across the consumer fintech landscape.
Many players now look like potential challenger bank models more akin to what we have seen unfold in Europe the past few years. Within consumer fintech, we at Bessemer are more focused on demographically-specific product offerings that tap into underserved themes, whether that be the financial problems facing the aging population in the US or new models to serve the underbanked or underserved population of consumers and small businesses.
Ian Sigalow, Co-founder & Partner, Greycroft
What trends are you most excited in fintech from an investing perspective?
I suspect that many enterprise software companies become fintech companies over time — collecting payments on behalf of customers and growing revenues as your customers grow. We have seen this trend in many industries over the past few years. Business owners generally prefer a model that moves IT expenditures from Operating Expenses into Cost of Goods Sold, because they can increase prices and pass their entire budget onto the customer.
On the consumer side, we have already made investments in branchless banking, insurance (auto, home, health, workers comp), cross-border payments, alternative investments, loyalty cards/services, and roboadvisor services. The companies we funded are already a few years old, and I think we will have some interesting follow-on activity there over the next few years. We have been picking spots where we think we have an unfair competitive advantage.
Our fintech portfolio is also more global than other sectors we invest in. This is because there are opportunities to achieve billion dollar outcomes in fintech, even in countries that are much smaller than the United States. That is not true in many other sectors.
We have also seen trends emerge in the US and move abroad. As an example we seeded Flutterwave, which is similar to Stripe, and they have expanded across Africa. We were also the lead investor in Yeahka, which is similar to Square in China. These products are heavily localized —tin for instance Yeahka is the largest processor of QR code payments in the world, but QR code payments are not popular in the US yet.
How much time are you spending on fintech right now? Is the market under-heated, over-heated, or just right?
Fintech is about a quarter of my time right now. We continue to see interesting new ideas and the valuations have been more or less consistent over time. The broader market doesn’t impact us very much because we tend to have a 10 year holding period.
Are there startups that you wish you would see in the industry but don’t?
