OK, After Some Digging

It seems that the New Sword Magoroku Kanemoto (孫六兼元) is also referred to by another name which is Seki no Magoroku (関孫六). Which is the name of Saito Hajime's second sword.

Magoroku Kanemoto (孫六兼元) seems to be an amalgamation of all the Magoroku swords including that of Saito Hajime's Sword.

you can see the Kanji (関孫六) right beside (孫六兼元)

and in the Google Translated page, you can see that they hint towards Saito Hajime being his former Master

So in conclusion MAGOROKU KANEMOTO IS SAITO HAJIME'S SWORD (kind of). He's similar to Doudanuki Masakuni who's a combination of all the Masakuni blades. So he is both Saito's sword and not at the same time

Have you seen the Chainsaw Man character, Asa Mitaka, who kinda looks like Sugimoto?

First of all, sorry for the late reply but I was away for two weeks and I’m not really comfortable typing with my phone.

And yes, I’ve heard of her from a friend, saw a couple of images and checked the wikia for “Chainsaw man”. However, as I don’t read "Chainsaw man” I can’t really comment much on it.

It can be the author took inspiration from Sugimoto... the scar looks similar and the “War Devil” possessing her seems a reference to how Sugi wasa war veteran... but it can also be a coincidence.

Sugimoto is not the only character with face scars (Kenshin from “Ruroni Kenshin”, Rubber and Zoro from “One piece”, Gatsu from “Berserk”, Scar from “Fullmetal Alchemist”, Levi from “Attack on Titans”, Doudanuki Masakuni from “Touken Ranbu”, Yamcha from “Dragon Ball”, Dukuro Koyuki from “Fairy Tales”, Ikki Phoenix and Kraken Isaac from “Saint Seiya” to name a few) but it’s also sure that girl’s scar looks very similar to Sugi’s one so yes she looks like him (and yeah, I know, the female version of him drawn in an hentai doujinshi).

If the author really took inspiration from “Golden Kamuy” and wanted to render homage to Sugimoto by making one of his characters similar to him... well, it’s a nice idea. I do apprecciate when authors reference other manga, it’s a way to recognize a manga is a source of inspiration and, at the same time, it can work to support it by encouraging the readers who hasn’t read it yet to do so... and, as far as I’m involved, this sort of things can be also fun.

Of course the important thing is that the character is an homage, not a mere copy but, as I said, I can’t judge as I hadn’t read the manga yet.

I guess we can only wait and see how the readers of “Chainsaw man” (who also have read “Golden Kamuy”) will judge Mitaka Asa to know if his author did a good work with her (and for them to keep an eye on interviews so as to see if the author will say he used Sugimoto as inspiration).
