Finally managed to get inside on my third visit to Rochester!

Older than the Restoration House, with parts dating from the Tudor period and others from the seventeenth century. Eastgate House features in Dickens's Pickwick Papers and the Mystery of Edwin Drood.

It has some fine plasterwork, and some original painted wall decoration:

Thursday grey and damp, we sought covered spaces to avoid the worst showers. From a rainy Eastgate Street, we sheltered in The Grosvenor Shopping Centre to be diverted by TK Maxx and Castle Fine Art’s window, featuring mediocre efforts by Bob Dylan and Billy Connolly. I could barely stomach my own reflection, sitting in my vanity chair my body tucked up to the table tightly, ghosting my hands over the old white wood covered in the handmade lace my little vanity tools laid in their most perfect places. brushes, combs, nail polish bottles and perfume all in their own little spots. I took my rose Perfume giving my neck and wrists a spurt the scent filling the air immediately.

I returned the perfume to the vanity and pushed my body up taking the tissue from the hem of my dress where I had tucked it to prevent the sputtering of powder. I fixed my dress in my hands giving the skirt a flattering from the petticoat's desire to spin forth. fixing my stockings seam a moment adjusting it to be as straight as the other.

I hurried my little shoes down the stairwell picking my handbag up from the table beside the chair. I checked my hair once more in the mirror beside my door just as I did four small knocks came.

I blushed a little trying to hide the heat that flooded my cheeks, as I pulled open the door letting the light from my room flood out into the street cascading across his face.

And there he stood on my porch in his usual uniform, hair fixed in his usual way having clearly messed with it the whole way here.

"Evening little lady" he smiled

"Evening" I smiled shutting my light off and locking up my little house hopping down the steps to be on the cobblestones with him

"if I may say, you look beautiful" He smiled taking my hand and giving it a soft kiss

"Charmer" I smiled slipping my hand away "so? Pray tell? what adventure are we going on today?" I asked taking his arm as we lit out little torches and pointed down at the street to light our steps given streetlamps had long been snuffed out and windows blacked out.

"Well, merely a small adventure I apologize. But I am only back two weeks" He reminds as we walked

"I don't mind a small adventure. beats no adventures at all"

"well, how does a drink and a dance down Eastgate sound little lady?"

"Perfect" I smiled holding his arm a little tighter as we headed through the streets doing our best to avoid other people with their little lights, till we found the Eastgate hall and we headed inside down the narrow little stairs, until it opened it to the beautiful red painted walls slightly chipping and pealing away, the large wooden floor well polished and cared for even if the centre by the stage was certainly worn from the many dancer's feet. A small band sat on the stage playing away their little tunes, tables scatted to the back of the hall where mostly drinks and jackets sat the odd couple not partaking in dance at this time, a few boys at the tall wooden bar getting served by the bartenders, A chandelier hung from the ceiling even if a few of the bulbs had been removed to the bare minimum needed to light the room. We found an empty table not too close but not too far bar where I took a seat and he slipped off his jacket setting on the other chair.

"Martini?" he asks

"Gibson if you please"

"Alright," He smiled taking my hand "Just a moment little lady" He smiled giving my hand a kiss before he headed to the bar.

I took my compact from my handbag checking myself over in the mirror and giving myself an extra puff of powder as it was fairly warm in here and soon enough he returned with our drinks having a seat beside me so I put my compact away.

"so, come on I've missed you so much, tell me what I've missed," he says taking my hand gently

"Not too much has happened"

"nothing interesting at all?"

"Well, Not really"

"what about work, something interesting had to have happened at work"

"well lots happens at work" I smiled taking a sip of my drink

"so? can I have a story?"

"You know full well Thomas I tell you a story from work, then I'll have to kill you" I winked

"I'd like to see you try" He smirked "But seriously?"

"loose lips sink ships Thomas"

"But it's me. Please" he cooes giving me those stupid puppy eyes

"No. swore my oath to king and country just as you did" I said back pushing his face away slightly "would be like me asking you about where you're getting shipped off to"

"I like when you ask me when I get shipped off too." he shrugs "besides I always tell you anyway,"

"Umm you have a strange infatuation with informing me of your whereabouts"

"Not sure why I bother. Half the time you and your department are probably the ones who sent me there"

"No" I argued "well maybe" I sighed sipping my drink

"Awww don't you sit at your little desk and go through the paperwork checking if you're sending me off somewhere"

"No."

"Liar. Then why did I get a note last time with my sweet little pictures about packing a jacket? you knew where I was going"

"I had been informed. after the fact."

"Alright, if you say so" he chuckled "I still think you're keeping an eye on me"

"Perhaps"

"Not that it matters, you'll be first to know anything goes south anyway"

"I really shouldn't be"

"well you need to know" He shrugged

"Well, you can think what you want. doesn't mean it's true" I smiled giving his hand a squeeze

We chatted about everything and nothing often times him telling me stories of the time he had been away from me, and the regrettable fact he would be away from me again in only two weeks, He finished his drink and I finished up my own and he smiled and got up fixing his uniform a little

"May I little lady?" he asks offering his hand

"You may" I smiled taking his hand and leaving my chair, we went to the dancefloor hand in hand, and we danced often times being fast pase and quick with our moves never missing a beat, but slow and snug when the music allowed us a chance, many times other young men had attempted to cut in but he had always denied them. We danced for what truly was hours, the crowd that had huddled by the band when we arrived tricked to but a few souls including ourselves. you could watch as people got tried huddled together and with a shrug of a shoulder and a tip of a head they'd gather their jackets and go, Until it was that even the band had begun to pack away their instruments and a janitor came out too sweet away tickets, cocktail sticks and other such rubbish that had fluttered to the dance floor. By Now I was nuzzled into his chest arms on his shoulders even if my face pressed upon the unformidable uniform I didn't move back at all, his own hands on the small of my back his chin on my head our feet barely doing any dance steps just slowly going in circles.

"shall we head on home little lady?" he whispered

"Umm, one more dance" I cooed

"I don't think there are any more tonight. Come on I'll walk you home"

"Alright" I smiled

we went back to the table getting my bag and his jacket even if he wrapped it over my shoulders as to keep out the chill, we scurried up the stairs and back to the street lighting our feet with the little torches all the way back to my little house. Once we reached my porch I slipped off his jacket gave it back to him

"I suppose I won't see you again before you go"

"I doubt it. I wish I could. I promise I'll write you a letter before you go"

"I shall eagerly await it"

"I promise, as soon as I get back I'll take you out again"

"Alright, I will wait even more eagerly for that"

"as will I" he smiled "and I promise, once this is all over we'll get married. I know I've kept you waiting long enough"

"I don't mind waiting" I smiled "Once it's all over, I'm already storing fabric for my wedding dress. I'm sure it won't be long"

"I'm sure it won't. I'll see you soon little lady" He smiled giving my lips a soft little kiss I smiled kissing back but I pulled away quickly not wanting us to be spotted by anyone

"I'll see you soon" I smiled giving his nose a little kiss and heading inside my little house

"I- I love you. You know that don't you little lady?"

"Of course, I do" I smiled "I love you too Thomas. go on get back or you'll get in trouble" I smiled blowing him a kiss before hurrying inside.

A little trip to Wales? Don't mind if I do~

After a nice night out in Liverpool we put on our hiking boots and set out on a medieval day in magical Wales.

Whenever I think of Wales I think of dragons, castles, and wide fields. Lucky for me, that's exactly what I found. Our first stop took us to Conwy Castle. Now when you think of old run-down castle that could possibly house a dragon, Conwy is exactly what comes to mind. During its time as an active castle, Conwy stood to fortify the next-door Conwy but it never really got used as a place of residence. Despite being a run-down castle its forward bridge still gets some use out of it after being transformed into a suspension bridge in the early 19th century.

A twenty-minute ride away was the town of Llandudno, the home of the writer of the Alice in Wonderland stories. This quaint seaside town feels as if it's straight out of a postcard. Its colorful buildings seafront building and never-ending pier. We took the hike up the Great Orme, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The whole time I was up there it felt as if I was in Thor Ragnarok, watching as Odin went off to Valhalla. While admiring the view I met a little dragon that would let me take him home, far away from his magical lands.

The following day we would visit another medieval town named Chester. Chester was initially constructed as a fort known as Deva by the Romans in 79 AD. Spread around the town you can still find relics from its Medieval timeline including the Roman Amphitheater, the Chester Cathedral, and a more recent addition to the town, the Eastgate Clock (built for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee). While in the town, my flatmates and I hit for the waters and went around on a peddle boat. It was relaxing to lay back as the ducks swam past us, but it was also exhilarating to race the other boat riders.
