Mount Rainier National Park Archives Photo of the Eastside Highway Tunnel, 1940-41.
Also known as State Route (SR) 123, the Eastside Highway is a 13.8-mile-long road that connects the park’s southeast entrance near Ohanapecosh to the Mather Memorial Parkway (SR410) at Cayuse Pass. During the 1920s, Washington State constructed a road from the south to the park’s southeast entrance as well as a road on the north side to connect to the town of Naches on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Range. In 1931, the park boundary expanded to include the Ohanapecosh area and the Naches Pass Highway, which was completed and renamed the Mather Memorial Parkway in 1932. The Eastside Highway was not completed until 1940, the roads meeting at Cayuse Pass and becoming the first through-road in the park. As the road approaches Cayuse Pass, some retaining walls are 25 feet high, among the highest in the park.

The Eastside Highway Tunnel was built in 1939 and is 507-feet-long with portals clad in masonry. Plants and trees were later added around the portals to help the tunnel further blend into the landscape, a tenet of NPS Rustic design. It is the only tunnel along this road and one of three tunnels in the park (the other two are along Stevens Canyon Road). The Eastside Highway and its tunnel are both contributing structures in the Mount Rainier National Park Historic Landmark District.

Do you enjoy the drive along the Eastside Highway and going through the tunnel?

MANKATO — Mankato Family YMCA is sending out a survey to gauge how many new members a proposed second location on the city’s east side could draw.
The nonprofit’s leaders and board have been eyeing an east Mankato location for years, with COVID-19 putting earlier plans on hold.
Now, said Executive Director John Kind, the YMCA knows what programs any new facility would have and knows there’d be…

ENJOY!
Danny knew that you loved his car, you loved being in the car with him, riding with him anywhere he went, but you loved riding him in his car even more. Whenever he had a hard day at work or if he was just stressed, he would take the top off and then you two would go get ice cream. You'd drive to a secluded area where no one could see and you'd help him take the edge off his day.
You and Danny were driving to Bourbon and Beyond together, top on because it was raining, all your stuff packed in the trunk. You were texting Briley, your sister, your eta and what you were gonna do together. Her and Marcus lived on the westside of Nashville, while you and Danny lived on the eastside.
Usually, Danny would have one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the gear shifter. Today, he had one on the wheel and one in between your legs.
Danny had been fingering you almost the entire time you were on the road. He found your g-spot and you threw your head back and moaned. “Feel good when I touch you there, princess?” he asked you and you nodded. He sped his movements up until you came all over his hand.
Once you came, he licked his fingers clean and you two pulled up to a red light. He undid his belt and then pulled his jeans down. “Put that mouth to use and make Daddy feel good.” He grabbed your hair and whispered in your ear, “just pretend you dont know what your doing for me love.” The light turned green and he proceeded to the highway.
You looked up at him through your lashes and mewled out, “I dont know how, Daddy.” He went along with what you were saying and gasped. “No princess? You dont know how to please?” You shook your head and he told you what to do. “Take your fingers and rub over it, slowly. Slowly, princess.” You listened to him and did exactly what he said. He threw his head back against the headrest and moaned. “Im gonna pull my underwear down now princess, okay?” You nodded eagerly and waited for him. His cock sprung out and hit his stomach. “Daddy, please let me suck it. Ill be so good. Ill be a good girl for you.” He lightly slapped you and said, “Shut the fuck up. Stop fucking whining or else ill make you sit there and watch me jerk my cock.”
You looked at him in the passenger seat and he yanked your hair back. “You wanna suck it? Fine. Suck it like a fucking Bomb Pop.”
You suckled on the tip and he said, “Come on princess. That's all you can do? Go all the way down. All the way.” Once you went all the way down, he said, “There we go. Good girl, listening to her Daddy.” You started choking and he threw his head back. He started swerving and you stopped. He pushed your head back down and told you to keep going. “Take your mouth off. Jerk my cock.” You listened to him and wrapped your hand around him. You twisted your hand up and down on him and he started going a little faster on the road. “Faster. I know you can go faster for me, love.” he said. You went faster and he said, “I know you love my cock. Love on it. Kiss it. Savor it.” You kissed the pink tip and suckled on it. His breathing started to falter and he started to be inconsistent with the gas pedal. “Move your fucking hand,” he said to you. You sat back in your seat and let him do what he needed to. He spit on his cock and jerked himself off. He quickly looked at you and said, “Take your tits out for me princess.”
You moved the top of your dress down and threw your bra off. He looked at your boobs and said, “Why so swollen? Got excited, pleasing Daddy?” You nodded and he asked you, “Why didn't you touch ‘em?” You made eye contact with him and said, “You never told me I could. I need permission from Daddy.” The sight alone made him cum. He came all over his hand and all over his stomach. He put his hand out to your tit and rubbed his cum on your boobs. He dragged his finger through the cum on his stomach and shoved his finger in your mouth. You sucked on his finger the same way you sucked him off. He pulled his finger out and stopped at the light. He pulled his pants up and buckled his jeans.
“Rub ‘em. You know you want to. Rub my cum into your tits, princess.” he told you. You pouted and said, “I want you to do it. Your hands are so much bigger.” His eyes got dark and he said, “Well princess, Daddy is driving right now. We want to get you there safely, so I can use your princess pussy as soon as we get there.” You licked your lips and went over to his belt, trying to undo it. “Take your cock out. Let me touch it. Please let me touch it.” He stopped your hand from moving and said, “Stop trying to get me hard or I'll pull this car over and spank your little ass until it's red.” You cowered into the passenger seat, upset because he knows you dont like pain.
“D?” you called out to him.
“What!” he yelled at you.
You turned away from him and pulled your dress back up. You looked out the window and refused to look at him. He turned over to see you, not looking at him, legs close to the door. He spoke to you, “Lovebug, I'm sorry I yelled at you. I won't spank you, promise. Cmon baby, look at me.” You wouldnt turn your head to look at him. He moved his hand to your shoulder and started to pull your dress sleeve down. It was a small car, so he could touch you pretty easily. He moved his hand from your shoulder down to your chest. He pulled your dress down and touched your tits. “Princess, they're so hard. Come on, let me see the other one. Let me see my girls.” You slowly moved towards him, flashing your eyes at him. “Why you over there crying? Did I make you upset?” He asked you. You nodded and moved away from him, pulling your dress back up.
He pulled into a random abandoned parking lot and undid his jeans. You looked at him and he said, “Take your panties off and hike that dress up.” You did exactly as he said and he pulled you on top of him. He led his cock to your cunt and moved you over his cock. He pulled the top of your dress down and let his hands roam your chest. “I love these fucking tits. Mmm, love sucking them.” he said, and took your nipple into his mouth. He moaned around your nipple as you rode him. He rubbed your other boob and took his mouth off your nipple. He opened his mouth to show you that he sucked his own cum into his mouth. He spit it into his hand and moved it up to your mouth. You licked it off his hand and moaned as soon as you tasted it. “I love your cum, Daddy. Want it in me.” His eyes widened and he said, “Yeah? You want Daddy to make you a mommy? Want Daddy to fill you up? Daddy’ll fill you up with babies, I love stuffing you full of my babies.” He kissed you and you moaned into his mouth. He put his hands on your ass and took his cock out of your pussy. “Can I stick it in this little ass? Let Daddy fuck your ass, princess?” he asked and you nodded. “I'd let you stick it anywhere Daddy, love your cock.”
He spit on his thumb and rubbed it on your hole. He pushed the tip in and you gasped, not expecting it to feel so good. He grabbed your hair and pulled, exposing your neck. He left little kisses all over your neck. He grabbed your hips and pushed you down.
He moved you up and down on him and put his middle finger on your clit. He rubbed it a little and held pressure on it. He moaned out, “This little ass is so tight, I fucking love it. Can I cum in it? Can I cum in your little ass?” You shook your head and said, “No, want you in my pussy.” He shook his head and said, “Let me fill this ass, then when we get to Bourbon, I'll fill up your little pussy. How's that sound?” You nodded and started crying. He picked up the pace and pulled out. He motioned you towards your seat and told you to bend over. You bent over to front seat, hand on the window, and he kneeled and fucked his hand. You felt something wet touch your asshole. There was no way.
You looked back and sure enough, he was eating your ass. He looked up at you and smiled, tongue still moving. He put his fingers up your pussy and fingered you. You felt him brush your g-spot, you flung your head up and reached back to move his head closer to you. You pressed his face into your ass and licked harder. He moved back to spit on it, and went back in for more.
You could tell he was about to cum when his pace started slowing down. You looked down and his hand was getting slower. You moved to put his cock in your mouth. He started twitching in your mouth and he pulled your head back and came on your face. He gave you some light taps as he was panting. He pulled his underwear up and his jeans up.
He put his seatbelt on and told you to wait a minute. Once he got back on the road, he put his fingers out towards you and he rubbed your clit until you came. You knew something was different, it didn't feel like you were going to cum. Your vision went white and you heard Danny say, “Holy shit! Baby did you see what you did?” and laughed. You shook your head no and he said, “You just squirted,” You looked at him surprised and he nodded. You reached for your panties in his hand and he snatched them from you. He shook his head and told you to go without.
You had fallen asleep to the sound of Danny singing. When you woke up, you were at the hotel. He gently woke you up and told you, “We're at the hotel, Love.” You moaned and slowly got up. He got the two bags out of the trunk and you grabbed your purse that was behind your headrest.
He met you outside the car and you texted Briley and told her you were there. You were in the lobby when you saw her. She took one look at you and said, “Tell me everything.”

Dear Old El Paso,
I am also old and was born thumbless. (And I have been to the cacti plains and stockyards of El Paso while SHOPPING alone.) Haggard. Lines on my face like a roadmap although no one these days knows how to read a roadmap, do they? Or how to name a bird, build a low tire fire, eat a charred cow with pocketknife, smell the stars, run a trotline, play a spoon, bang a gong, get it on, wrestle a wounded coyote to the ground, and so on. When I was a kid no one even gave us schoolbooks. You had to write your own book, at home, bind it yourself (mine was mostly sestinas about farm animals and made of cornstalks and barbed wire), and walk to school through THE DREADFUL VALLEY while pushing your books in a wheelbarrow. But I digress.
As most know by now, my wife was hit by lightning while skinny-dipping. I am RESPONSIBLE for numerous kids! Eight are mine but we HELP out others round these parts (over by the White River Bridge, eastside, respect). Weary is my forehead.
Like everyone decent and good I know, we lost the farm. A corporation took it and gave it to Japan. I moved to Indiana and now commute to work outside Memphis, Tennessee as a janitor for a chemical company. Poorly paid and dangerous as TETRAHYDRAFURFURAN. Brimstone and greed. Starlings fly over and drop dead. One day my Camry exploded. We have an inside guy with OSHA and we get tips if they are coming for inspection, I'm sorry. I've seen a forklift take flight off a building and crush a secretary. We don't get BBQ, iced tea, or medical, not free. I could name the chemical company, but I will not. It rhymes with Poo Font. And HOW do I FEED all those kids? I'm glad you asked.
Carp tacos. Five days a week. (We eat cattail reeds pulled from the marshy shoulder of highway 40 on weekends.) Each kid gets HALF a taco. This is how we survive, no, thrive. We are a happy family. We don't need money. Or TIME. We dwell within the prickly embrace, the bayonet and hammock, of love. It takes a village.
Last Tuesday I got off work and briefly visited the burlesque shows of the greater Mississippi delta and the Tunica casinos for my WELLNESS and then drove to Indiana and called to the kids and opened the usual box of OLD EL PASO ESTABLISHED 1938 SOFT AND HARD TACO DINNER KIT. And for what? Despair. FIVE hard tacos, not the PROMISED 6! FIVE! (I am enclosing visual evidence.) Please disclose yourself. Please tell Brody why she had no dinner at all. Hold her tiny hand as her stomach guffaws in agony. I request an explanation and at LEAST one hard taco shell. Fair is fair. Unfair is unfair. I had to explain MENDACITY to Brody, not fun. She's only three and cries at the flick of a Bic lighter or the creak of kudzu in the night breeze or even the persistent odor of gasoline (or at missing meals). Honestly, I feel like I've lost my family. And my farm. Once again.
Sincerely,
S Lovelace

Youth Eastside Services.
Youth Eastside Services.
Одна из таких групп называется Latino V.O.I.C.E.
Группа Latino V.O.I.C.E.

What was my first boss like?
I'm in the second week of a year-long project. StoryWorth is a website where people can create a book of memories for friends and family. Each week I'm sent a writing prompt to fill in this "book". I'm told that people can write just a few sentences and paragraphs to fill in these blanks.
I, on the other hand, am writing.....a book. My first entry was 1500 words. I was more restrained on this one. Just 1240....
Anyway, here's a look:
What was my first boss like?
My first boss was Emma Dunn, around the summer of 1970 or so. She and her husband, Harry, lived right across Grant Road from us on her onion and grass seed farm in Central Point. Her big concrete block "Onion House" was situated directly opposite our house, nestled in some fir trees and other foliage rising up from Jackson Creek, the little stream that flowed parallel to the road. You could barely see it in the summer, but every winter it was like a large grey igloo. My mother always hated it being placed there. Here we were surrounded by beautiful farmland and our big rancher house was placed RIGHT there about 150 feet away. When my parents remodeled the old place, we added a deck and patio area on the side and back areas.
The Dunns. Bradshaws and Bohnert families were all part of the original farming clans in the Rogue River Valley, somehow interrelated by marriage. All of them were located on neighboring farms. From left to right it was:
Don Bohnert, the stepfather of one of my boyhood friends, Pete Bohnert;
Harry & Emma Dunn
John Bohnert, whose fields I would stroll through when I walked to High School, down his lanes, over Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, and across old Highway 99. It was about a 1.5-mile walk each way.
Harry Dunn suffered a stroke when I was very young. Our family would visit with them every month or so, but he was in a wheelchair and seemed very old beyond his years. So it was little feisty Emma - all of about 5-6, black-and-gray short gray hair bristling atop her head - who ran the place with an iron fist. She wasn't angry or mean to her workers, but she wanted things done HER way and she was bound and determined to make it so.
She grew yellow onions in the fertile soil of the west side of the Rogue Valley. I've never experienced this kind of growing soil in my life. It's described as a "sandy loam" type. Not too fine as to cause a lot of dust, but without any of the clay. (The Rogue River Valley is divided in half by Bear Creek. Every parcel of land on the west side was blessed with this heavenly soil. On the eastside was this horrible clay that got worst the farther east into the foothills you went. So most of the farming was done on the west side and all the fashionable expensive homes were on the east side)
The onions were sewn in long rows, about 150 yards long between farm roads. Each row would be about a 5-foot wide mound where the onions were grown. Each mound row was about 1 foot high, making for a long series of horizontal humps if you viewed it from the road. Between the rows would be irrigation channels. Instead of watering with sprinklers, the farm hands do what was called "flood irrigation". They would pump water out of Jackson Creek into an elevated water tank, When they would do the weekly water, they simply let the water run into main channels that bordered the farm road. The water would flow down the main channel and then find its way into the smaller channels parallel to the onion mounds. It was an amazingly easy and efficient way to water as it soaked down into the onion roots through the porous soil.
Emma would have the onion sprouts planted sometime in the spring and would grow in the hotter-than-hell summer heat of Central Point. They were usually ready for harvest in mid-to-late August, and here's where my first job opportunity came about. Emma would hire people - usually neighbors and older kids. Child labor laws were either non-existent or exempt from agriculture work. This was in the era before migrant labor took over all ag jobs. We "white folks" weren't too good for outdoor labor in those days. My brother would sometimes go across the street and work for a few days before school started. One summer I went over with him on the first day of "Onion Picking" as it was called. Emma had watched me all these years and knew me well. She gave me a chance, and I was the youngest one in the entire crew.
Each morning we'd cross over the creek on these old rickety wooden bridges that spanned the creek. No guard rails, ancient fir planks, situated about 60 feet or so above the canyon this creek had carved for 100s of years. It's a wonder the tractors and other big farm gear ever made it across.
We'd walk past her house, around the side of the Onion House, and out to the huge fields just across from my boyhood home. All told there were probably 600 acres of beautiful farmland worked by these amazing families. (Of course, now these same fields are occupied by tract homes and retirement centers - a true tragedy.) We'd go past the sugar beets and alfalfa plantings to arrive at the 100s of rows of onions that had been pulled up by a mechanical harvester. The now drying onions were sitting atop each of the long mounds and needed to be packed away before the fall rains. Each picker would have his/her own row. Beside each row were empty wood crates - both half and full size. We pickers would take a crate and pick up the onions, inspect them, and put them into the crates. We would have to make sure the onions weren't split or rotten, and remove extra dried stalks from the vegetable. Once the crate was filled, we would move down the row and fill up another crate. And another. Each picker would have their own row, with our initials on the first and last crate to be counted. I think we earned 15 cents for a half crate and 25 cents for a full crate.
I can still hear Emma's strident voice, kind of stringy but strong, walking through the fields all day to supervise. Wearing her ancient straw hat, she would critique my work, noting a bad onion or maybe a less-than-full crate. "Mr. Steve" is what she called me as she inspected every crate, either pointing out an issue with my work or - rarely - praising me for my hard work. But then again, why would she? This is the kind of work ethic that was expected of anyone growing up in the Valley.
After the crates were filled each day, other workers would follow behind us later and collect the crates onto huge flatbed trailers to be sorted in the Onion House. Eventually, they would be bagged up and taken to a regional farm cooperative supply center near our town.
We'd start around sun-up to escape the worst of the heat. If it was less than 90 degrees we'd work all day, finding some shade to rest during breaks. The harvest would usually continue on into the school year, and I'd rush home and go out into the fields in the late afternoon to pick more onions. I was nothing if not industrious, and I happily banked all of my farm money each summer until I was 16 and legal to work at other jobs.
I'll never forget Emma Dunn, and what she taught me: Attention to detail and finishing each and every job.

Employing Movers in the particular City? What A person Need To Know
Los Angeles, the most significant city in California is also the other largest city in america. Home to close to 4 million folks, thousands of people move to be able to this beautiful town.
Neighborhoods in Oregon
A big alluring city, the town is spread out above 498 miles. Typically the city is produced up of a number of neighborhoods such as Downtown, Hollywood, the particular Westside, Eastside, Wilshire, Crescenta Valleys.
Finding, hiring and then reviewing movers in the city is just one of the particular aspects of shifting. Hopefully, it may be one of the most nice aspects of a new frequently unpleasant process that is even now a crucial evil. No matter if you are setting up a professional move or even moving with your family, it is important that a person find the best possible movers in Oregon thus that you will be not worried about your own stuff during typically the moving process.
a single. Movers in Los Angeles Ought to be Obtainable to Answer Your own Questions
With e-mail, cell phones, landlines, Skype, instant messages and faxes, now there should be simply no reason at most you are unable in order to reach someone with the movers you are talking to. In the event that you leave some sort of message, it have to be answered rapidly - a maximum of twenty four hours should ACTUALLY pass before you get an answer regarding some kind, even if it is in order to acknowledge the meaning and then to produce a promise of some sort of response. If a lot more time than this kind of is passing, tend not to pursue these movers. Never accept standard excuses: this is typically the age of conversation and smart telephones. Everyone is connected more than ever ahead of.
2. Los Angeles Movers Should become Courteous and Sincere
After talking with regard to several days to and fro, you finally routine a walk via with one associated with the movers inside the area.
