💍 I recently got engaged so I've been searching for bridal jewelry & accessories. I found the most beautiful gifts and unique earrings and bag @shoppearlcore. 🤍 This pearl beaded silver clutch is even prettier than I had hoped it would be! It goes with everything and is such a sparkly #eveningbag. The perfect small size but still holds everything I need. Love the convenient and detachable chain too. 🐍 The Snake huggie hoops are so cool and have a unique design. They look as though the snake has curled up behind the ear. They're hinged at the back and stay in place securely.. So beautiful in 925 sterling silver dipped in 22ct gold with sparkly green zircon eyes and lined with crystals. 🦪 The classic looking gold halo genuine #pearlearring studs are another of my favorites. Although classic they're set in an interesting iridescent knotted design mount. So cool how the halo of gold appears to frame each #pearl. They're hypoallergenic and beautifully made 14kt gold filled resistant to tarnishing and fading. 👰 @shoppearlcore has such a gorgeous and interesting collection of jewelry & accessories for the modern bride, her tribe and just everyday wear. Level Up Your Learning: The Power of Gamification and Game-Based Learning
In the ever-evolving world of education and corporate training, engaging learners is often the key to success. Fortunately, there's a dynamic duo that's been making significant strides in the learning industry: Gamification and Game-Based Learning. These techniques are not just about fun and games; they're effective tools that can revolutionize the learning experience.
The Power of Gamification
Gamification is the art of incorporating game elements and mechanics into non-gaming contexts. By introducing features like points, badges, leaderboards, and challenges, educators and trainers can transform the most mundane content into an exciting adventure. Here's how it works:
Motivation Boost: Gamification capitalizes on our innate desire for achievement and recognition. Learners are more motivated to complete tasks and engage with the material when rewards and a sense of competition are involved.
Personalized Learning: Games can adapt to a learner's performance and adjust the difficulty level accordingly. This tailoring ensures that each individual progresses at their own pace, promoting a deeper understanding of the material.
Feedback Loops: Games provide immediate feedback, allowing learners to understand their strengths and weaknesses. This feedback loop fosters continuous improvement.
Social Interaction: Many gamification strategies include a social component, encouraging collaboration and communication among learners, which is often an integral part of the learning process.
Game-Based Learning: The Next Level
While gamification enhances existing content, game-based learning takes it a step further by making the game itself the primary vehicle for learning. Here's why game-based learning is gaining momentum:
Immersive Learning: Games create a simulated environment where learners can experiment, make decisions, and learn from the consequences, all in a risk-free space.
Storytelling: Many game-based learning experiences are built around compelling narratives, making the content more relatable and memorable.
Critical Thinking: Games often require strategic thinking and problem-solving, skills that are essential in the real world. These cognitive challenges help learners develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Retention: The interactive nature of games significantly improves knowledge retention. Learners actively engage with the content, making it stick in their memory.
Enjoyment: Learning through games can be a highly enjoyable experience, reducing the fear or apprehension some learners might feel about more traditional methods.
To delve deeper into the exciting world of gamification and game-based learning, check out this comprehensive resource here.

CSU Grounds Department: From the Field to the Classroom
Small buds studding trees, delicate flowers pushing up through the ground, the occasional 55-degree afternoon – the signs are all around us. Tomorrow marks the first day of spring and we aren’t the only ones ready!
The Grounds team at CSU will be dusting off their equipment to bring campus grounds back to life this spring. But when they aren’t working hard to keep our campus looking great, they partner with classes to share knowledge and experience beyond the classroom.
Last fall, students in Dr. Emily Rauschert’s plant ecology lab worked with groundskeeping staff in a plant propagation workshop. Students learned how to propagate – or grow new plants from parent plant seeds, cuttings, or other plant parts – multiple species of plants, including those common to campus like Ficus benjamina (weeping fig or ficus) and Crassula ovata (Jade plant).
This workshop stemmed off the propagation that takes place in CSU’s own greenhouse, which is located in the Grounds Department’s Plant Annex!
“This kind of integration of course concepts and our local campus environment helps [students] remember these concepts longer-term,” said Dr. Rauschert, Associate Professor of Plant Ecology. “We appreciate all the hard work [CSU grounds members] do to keep the campus beautiful and support our students’ learning!”
During the workshop, workstations were set up, each with a different propagation technique, while the ground’s staff lead horticulturists, Timothy Joseph and Timothy Square Jr., gave presentations on each method. Students then rolled up their sleeves to give each method a try and went home with fledgling plants of their own.
“It’s good for myself and my staff, knowing that there are young budding professionals that are interested in what we do. Our hope is that these skills will benefit them in their careers,” shared Timothy Square Jr., Superintendent of Grounds. “We believe campus should be a living lab to provide opportunities to learn and apply new ideas. We want to do our part to help educate.”
The groundskeeping team intends to continue educating and keep campus partnerships strong. Next month, they will be embarking on part two of the tree identification project they assisted with in 2019 as part of plant biology courses taught by Dr. Andrea Corbett.
To provide students with an interactive activity for their class, the groundskeeping team collaborated with the Center for Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, Maker Space, and Dr. Corbett to create an interactive tree map.
QR code tags were secured to trees across campus. Students then embarked on a scavenger hunt to find different tree numbers, scanning the QR codes to learn about the biological content of the tree and answer questions based on the information they learned.
“I really enjoyed seeing the overall diverse array of trees CSU has on campus,” shared senior biology major, Hans Bogenrief. “I appreciate the work put in by the groundskeeping team at CSU because the amount of tree species they have to manage, and how widespread they are around the greater campus of CSU is pretty impressive.”
The members of the grounds department wear many hats – they are turf experts, irrigation techs, entomologists, wild-life control, data collectors, and campus collaborators. With their help, not only is the campus kept in tip-top condition, but students can learn outside the classroom and make a direct impact on our campus.

The most important part of engaged and meaningful learning is willing participants. I believe strongly in the power of self-motivated learning. What does that mean? I feel very uncomfortable with persuasion. If people are not interested in learning about Responsive Parenting, I don’t feel comfortable trying to “teach them.” I just don’t feel that’s how people learn best. Posted @withregram • @yournaturallearner I have literally seen people make this argument for everything from testing to physical abuse. Just because you survived and learned from a bad experience in life doesn’t mean it was the only way to learn. Yes, bad experiences teach us things. But sometimes we get so wrapped up in trying to justify the negative experience (instead of confronting the trauma and healing from it) that we forget that the same lessons could’ve been learned from POSITIVE experiences too. Why is this important in the world of learning? Because a lot of adults are walking around with a whole heap of school-related trauma. And when we refuse to confront and heal that, we are much more likely to do the same thing to our children. You see, if we’ve convinced ourselves that in the long run it was “good for us,” it’s easy to tell ourselves the same lie for our kids. Deschooling yourself is a critical part of the natural learning journey for your children. Is this an area you need to do more work in? What school-related trauma/belief are you still holding onto as true that you think might be a lie? #responsiveparenting #jmilburn #healing #healingjourney #transgenerationaltrauma #stopthecycle #lifelonglearning #engagedlearners https://www.instagram.com/p/CPQWPLen1do/?utm_medium=tumblr
