Tumblr media
Let's be honest: when you think about a family vacation, the enchanting shores of Hawaii are hard to beat. I mean, sun-kissed beaches, mouth-watering food, and the adventures. Sounds great, right?
If you're up for the real deal, diving into the best all inclusive hotels in Hawaii can make your dream vacay an absolute breeze. Ready for the insider's scoop? Then, let’s take a look at five of the best options for your family vacation in Hawaii.
1. Four Seasons Resort Hualalai: Where Luxe Meets Local
Just saying the name "Four Seasons Resort Hualalai" feels like an escape, doesn't it? Perched gracefully on the Kona-Kohala coast, this resort seamlessly blends the warmth of Hawaiian aloha with world-class luxury.
For the golf enthusiasts in the family, the award-winning golf course will be your sanctuary, offering views that might just mess with your concentration. For the kiddos (and honestly, adults too), you’ve got a choice of seven pools. Each of them promises a unique experience, so whether you want a serene dip or some splashy fun, there’s a spot for you.
As for food, prepare for a culinary journey. Remember, over 75% of the food served here is sourced straight from Hawaii Island. So every bite feels like a true Hawaiian embrace. And when the day winds down, retreat to your cozy room in an intimate two-story bungalow. Can you hear the waves already?
2. Turtle Bay Resort: North Shore's Finest
If you've heard tales of O‘ahu's North Shore, they probably didn't do justice to what Turtle Bay Resort brings to the table. Spread over nearly 1,300 acres, this resort is a slice of untouched paradise with historic vibes.
Mornings here could start with a calming walk on five miles of pristine coastline or perhaps with a family hike on one of the twelve miles of trails that promise breathtaking views. Given its expansive space, there’s always a private spot waiting, whether you’re a sunrise enthusiast or a sunset chaser.
Once you’ve soaked in the natural beauty, the resort pulls you back with promises of holistic dining, drawing inspiration from native culinary traditions. And if you're itching for some off-site adventures, Turtle Bay’s location is unbeatable. From the ancient stories of Waimea Valley to the iconic surf breaks that have shaped legends, you're in the heart of it all.
3. Aston Kaanapali Shores: Your Home Away from Home
Beachfront beauty is one thing, but Aston Kaanapali Shores takes it up a notch. Nestled on the golden sands of Kaanapali Beach, this resort is a confluence of comfort and Hawaiian charm.
Every suite feels like a home, and they all include complete kitchens. So if you ever fancy whipping up a quick family breakfast or a midnight snack, you're all set. And for those who prefer being pampered, the in-resort dining, especially at The Beach Club Restaurant, promises island flavors that’ll dance on your taste buds.
But what truly sets this place apart is its cultural heartbeat. Throughout the week, the resort is alive with traditional activities. From hula lessons that’ll get your hips swaying to ukulele tunes that’ll have you humming along, there’s a slice of Hawaii waiting to be discovered. And if you're in the mood for some retail therapy, their Thursday Craft Fair is a treasure trove of local crafts and keepsakes.
4. The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue: A Royal Hawaiian Retreat
Step into a world where luxury intertwines with the genuine spirit of the Garden Isle. The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue is a sight to behold, with Kalapaki Beach as its picturesque backdrop. If the name alone doesn't give you a hint of the majestic experience ahead, the resort itself surely will.
Fresh from a whopping $50 million upgrade, every nook and corner of this place radiates charm and sophistication. Each guestroom and suite has been meticulously revamped to offer guests a stay that's nothing short of royal. Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of waves and the sight of the golden sun rising over Kalapaki Bay. Sounds dreamy, right?
Beyond the confines of your room, adventure awaits. Whether you're teeing off at the adjacent Jack Nicklaus championship golf course or unwinding with a sumptuous spa treatment, every moment here feels like a celebration. And oh, for the foodies, the on-site restaurants promise a culinary journey that’s as enchanting as Kauai itself.
5. Hilton Waikoloa Village: Dive into Island Grandeur
Ever dreamt of a place where vastness meets vibrancy? That's Hilton Waikoloa Village for you. One of the world's largest and most splendid resorts, it's a veritable playground of Hawaiian wonders. Nestled amidst a beautiful expanse that includes lagoons, pools, water slides, and more, this is where "larger than life" meets the "aloha spirit".
The guest rooms here are more than just accommodations: they’re a promise of restful nights with dreams filled with Hawaiian lore. As you wander around the resort, you're bound to stumble upon a plethora of restaurants and bars, each offering unique flavors and vibes. From tropical cocktails to hearty Hawaiian meals, your taste buds are in for a treat.
And if the resort's internal charm wasn't enough, its location amplifies its allure. With every sunrise and sunset, the surrounding landscapes narrate tales as old as time, reminding you that while the resort might be a man-made marvel, it's nature that truly holds the magic wand.

Love Story
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Emily both propose on the same day during your vacation.
Pairing: Emily Prentiss/Reader
Word Count: 1986
Ao3
You closed your eyes, letting the salty ocean air fill your lungs. One arm rested on the balcony railing outside the hotel room you shared with your girlfriend, Emily, who was fast asleep inside.
In the two years you’d been with Emily, this was the first vacation you’d taken together, and you couldn’t resist the idea of watching the sunrise at least once on this trip.
So you’d dragged yourself out of bed, still in your pajamas, and stood at the edge of your balcony, waiting for the initial whispers of sunrise to appear. Emily had never been an early riser, so you knew better than to wake her.
When you opened your eyes, you could faintly spot, where the sky kissed the ocean, hints of orange and yellow. You were so mesmerized by the sight that you didn’t hear your love walking up behind you until she spoke.
“Hey, you,” Emily said, wrapping her arms around your torso and setting her head on your shoulder. “What on Earth are you doing awake at this hour?”
You giggled. “I wanted to watch the sunrise. You can go back inside; I’ll come back to bed after.”
Emily nestled deeper against your shoulder and hummed. “I’m okay right here.”
As profilers with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, time off wasn’t easy to come by—especially for two of you at a time.
Fortunately, the team’s caseload lightened up in time for you to take a week off, right around your second anniversary, and with it being January and miserable in DC, your destination was an easy choice—Hawaii.
Emily, ever the world traveler, knew of an amazing resort on the beach in Oahu, so you left the planning in her hands.
You had your own agenda for this trip. And today was the day.
As the sun rose higher, yellows and oranges won their battle against the dark blue sky, making way for light blues and pinks.
The air was humid, and getting warmer with the sunrise, but you had never felt so content.
“It’s beautiful,” Emily murmured. You nodded in agreement.
You knew after three months of dating that Emily was the person you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. But you only got one chance at a proposal with your dream girl, so planning proved to be more difficult than anticipated. And while you considered your BAU team your family, you knew that if you told any of them, the secret would be out within an hour. So confiding in them was, unfortunately, not an option.
As soon as the trip was booked, you knew this was your opportunity. Buying the ring was easy; you’d both known what you wanted and had openly discussed it almost the entire time you’d been together. Hiding the ring was harder—you had to move it every few days in case Emily decided to snoop.
She always had a sense for secrets and sniffing them out.
You blamed yourself for falling in love with a profiler.
“What do you want to do today?” Emily unwrapped her arms from you, and as soon as her touch was gone, you missed it. She took her place next to you, leaning against the balcony railing.
With vacations being so rare for you both, you’d decided together that you didn’t want to plan too much and overbook yourselves. Instead, you made a few dinner reservations and left it at that.
“Seems like a good day for the beach,” you said, nodding at the so-far empty beach below you. It wouldn’t be that way for long, you knew. But you weren’t in a hurry.
“Whatever you want,” Emily smiled. “But first… back to bed?”
You took your girlfriend’s hand with a smile of your own. “Whatever you want.”
***
Some time later, you and Emily were perched in lounge chairs on the beach. At first, you weren’t sure if you remembered how to relax, but laying back on a chaise in your favorite swimsuit next to your favorite person in the world—you remembered.
Your only request when Emily planned this trip was that one of your dinner reservations was on your second night. The first night you knew you’d be too tired from the travel, but you wanted to propose at the beginning of your trip so you could spend the rest of your time off celebrating.
But the more time you spent on the beach, the more you started to look at your phone, wondering how early was too early to start getting ready. You wanted to look nice but not so nice that you’d make Emily suspicious, and finding that balance wasn’t going to be a short endeavor.
You opened your mouth to ask what time your reservation was—even though you’d engrained the time in your memory—when Emily spoke up first.
“We should head back soon if we want to make our reservation,” she paused. “If that’s alright.”
“Is it that time already?” you asked, forcing nonchalance in your voice. To aid in your ruse, you glanced at your phone for the tenth time in the last half hour. “Yeah, let’s head back.”
You tossed your towel around your waist and headed back to the room in a comfortable silence.
Your hair took longer than Emily’s to style, so you mutually agreed to let you shower first—fighting the urge to ask Emily to just shower with you, but you couldn’t afford the time you would lose—and took the time to run through what you wanted to say when you proposed.
Your reservation was early enough that you hoped to walk back on the beach during sunset, and that’s when you would get on one knee and ask her to be your wife.
It would be perfect; you were confident.
***
You paused in front of the full-length mirror, appraising yourself. Your hair was curled and half-up—the beach was windy earlier, and you didn’t want to be eating your hair when you proposed. Your makeup was light, and you’d decided on a black romper. You’d packed a few sun dresses just in case, but you didn’t want to flash anyone when you got on one knee.
How did people do this? Your palms sweat just thinking about what was coming.
Across your body, you had a simple black bag, just big enough for your phone, wallet, and ring case.
As soon as you’d dressed, you’d thrown the bag over your shoulder and kept it close. The last thing you needed was Emily throwing her phone in your purse—something she often did, as she didn’t usually like to carry her own bag—and stumbling across the ring box.
But when your beautiful girlfriend stepped out of the bathroom—her raven hair curled and bangs perfectly styled, dressed in a skin-tight red dress that took your breath away—she had a similar black cross-body slung over her own shoulder.
In hindsight, that should’ve been the first clue of many. But you were too preoccupied with your own secret to pick up on hers.
“Stunning,” you breathed, leaning forward to kiss your love.
“I know you are,” her mouth smiling against your own, “but how do I look?”
You giggled, heart bursting. It took all of your willpower to not take out the ring box right then and get this whole thing over with.
But she deserved a proposal more special than one in a hotel room, so you bit your tongue.
“Ready to go?”
She nodded. “Ready when you are.”
You laced your fingers through hers and followed her out of the room and through the hotel’s doors.
“I thought we’d walk, take the scenic route, since we have some time,” Emily said. “The beach will take us right to the restaurant.”
Your heart skipped a beat. If you took the beach on the way there, would she think twice about you requesting the same on the way home?
No, you thought. What she’ll find weird is if you say no right now.
So you swallowed your panic and pressed a smile across your features. “Whatever you want, love.”
She squeezed your hand and took the lead.
“Are you having a nice time?” Emily asked. You weren’t sure if you were just projecting your feelings onto her, but did she sound… nervous?
“I could stay here forever,” you answered. “I don’t know how we can go back to winter in DC after this.”
“You’ll be ready to get back to work by the time vacation is over,” she said with a wink. “I know you too well.”
“Hmm, I don’t know,” you sang. “I think I could stay here forever with you and be perfectly happy.”
“Don’t tempt me.”
You opened your mouth to suggest honeymooning here, but caught yourself before you gave yourself away completely.
Instead, you turned to stare out at the water. “It’s a beautiful view.”
Your walking slowed before coming to a halt, both of you admiring the crashing waves lapping not far from your feet.
“It is,” she said.
You turned to find her eyes boring into yours and flushed.
“The two years I’ve spent with you have been the happiest of my life,” Emily said with a sincerity that stilled you. “I never knew I could love somebody this much until I met you.”
Tears prickled at the corners of your eyes. Emily released your hand, and you contemplated reaching for your purse. Was this the moment you’d been waiting for?
“I feel the same way,” you said, fighting the lump in your throat.
“I’m not always the most eloquent with words,” she admitted, patting at a stray tear in her eye. You chuckled, thinking of the times she couldn’t place what she wanted to say and started mumbling in other languages until she figured it out. “But I need you to know that you’re my everything. My love, mi amor, mon amour, amore mio, moya lyubov…”
She trailed off, reaching into her cross-body and pulled out something she concealed in her hands. You frowned.
“I know you love it when I speak French,” she said with a mischievous grin, kneeling down before you, on two knees instead of one, due to the dress she wore. “So, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, veux-tu m'épouser?”
You froze. You knew what that sentence meant—it was one you’d looked up online and practiced relentlessly in the mirror to get your pronunciation just right for your proposal, as you knew French was her favorite language.
When you didn’t answer, she translated, “Will you marry me?”
Tears poured from your eyes. When you opened your mouth to answer, a laugh bubbled up instead.
Now it was Emily’s turn to frown. “Love?”
Once you started, it was impossible to stop. You fell to your own knees in front of her, laughing and crying in equal measure. Her eyebrows furrowed in concern, but you held up a hand.
“You had to beat me to the punch, didn’t you?”
“I don’t understand…” she said.
You reached into your bag, procuring your ring box, clearing the tears from your face with your free hand. The rest of your speech was moot now, but you couldn’t let the French you learned go to waste.
“Emily Elizabeth Prentiss, je t'aime de tout mon cœur, et pour toujours. Veux-tu m'épouser?”
Emily gaped, glancing from you and the ring in your hand to the ring in hers. In the blink of an eye, her own face was covered with tears.
“Yes,” she gasped.
“Me too,” you whispered.
You exchanged rings, not even taking a moment to admire the fact that, of course, she got you the exact ring you wanted, before throwing your arms around your fiancee and pressing your lips to hers.
When you finally pulled away, you couldn’t wipe the smile from your face.
“We’re not making our dinner reservation, are we?”
“God, I hope not,” she breathed before pulling you in again.

Most people don't have any understanding of what has been lost in Lahaina Town. Not just lives and property, but an entire town.
Most people hear "a city/town in Hawaii" and they picture probably resorts. And there are plenty of resorts nearby. But those are all fine.
Lahaina was an old whaling town dating back to the original colonization by white settlers. Before white people arrived, it was the capital of the island, where the high chief ruled, including Kamehameha the Great. The buildings are old, wooden, and crowded together. Obviously that was a problem in the face of the insanely fast wildfire.
But these weren't mansions, Mc or otherwise. It was a tourist town, a destination for cute, spendy shopping and dining, full of art galleries. (OMG THE GALLERIES. There was so much ART lost. There was original Dr. Seuss art in one gallery when I was there in January. That's gone now. Etc.)
But the people who lived and worked in Lahaina were mostly working class, working retail and restaurant jobs, living in old apartments and small houses. Lots of elderly, lots of non-white in a wide range of ethnicities, old hippies who have been there since the 60s and 70s. Yeah they were probably a little better off than people who drive in from other places to work in West Maui, at least because their property was high value, if they owned. But they lived without A/C, hung their laundry on lines, biked to work, called in sick to go surfing when the waves were up. There was a Chinese cultural center and a Buddhist temple, two different structures, if that tells you anything. Multiple museums housing historic items and cultural centers.
And the town will be rebuilt, in some form, I imagine. Or re-developed, more likely. People who are now homeless, who can't afford to rebuild or pay for two residences while the recovery happens will be bought out by deep pocketed developers. If they rebuild Lahaina Town I'm afraid it will be Lahaina Town tm by Disney.
Another fake paradise for tourists with lava rock from the Big Island. Another bit of Hawaii swallowed by capitalism and climate change.
I'm not painting everything about Lahaina as it was as perfect. Front Street was an often gaudy display of brand names and hucksters out to shovel in the tourist dollars. And of course the politics of Hawaii are incredibly complex and fraught in so many ways. I'm just a mainlander haole. I will never live on the islands, despite my family there constantly asking me to move. But I've spent more time there than anywhere I haven't lived, almost all of that time in West Maui.
My mom works in a building that is not there anymore. She just described that job to me as "the last job she'll ever have" as she's 79 and very happy with working two days a week selling t-shirts to cruise ship people. My brother has worked in a gallery on front street for the last ten years.
I don't know. A city of almost 15,000 permanent residents is just gone. 50 or so are confirmed dead, in some horrific circumstances from what I hear.
My mom says people are just walking around with thousand-yard-stares, aimless, clutching cell phones trying to get signal (there isn't any, but you can get lucky and get a call through. Some texts are going in but not out.)
So I don't know folks. Keep those people in your thoughts. If you can donate, I think this may be a good place because it's going to lots of local orgs on the ground: https://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong
I keep thinking of new sad things.
Anyway I'm going to leave you with a picture I took while strolling down Front Street one evening.

You liked the country club. It was pretty there, they had music sometimes, and all the people smiled at you. It was a fun place to be.
Then again, you were three years old, so you were easy to please.
You remembered your moms bringing you along to the club a few times -- they'd put you in nice clothes, you had to do your very best to keep them clean, and they told you to be on your best behavior, too. Sometimes it was a lot of pressure.
So that night, although you had felt excited for the outing, you found yourself wailing in your mommy's arms, completely inconsolable.
Back rubs wouldn't do the trick, your mommy's soft voice in your ear didn't work either. The longer you were upset, the more upset you got. You heard Liz grumble something at her seat across the table, but just as you were gearing up for your loudest scream yet, you felt a hand on your shoulder.
Startled, you scrambled around in your mommy's arms, turning on her lap to see who had touched you. There was a boy, pale with dark hair and little like you.
"Are you ok?" he whispered.
You were trying to figure out if you wanted to go back to crying or say something to the boy in front of you. Before you could say anything, a woman came up and grabbed by the shoulders.
"Come now, Baxter," she said, steering him away from your family. "Mind your manners."
You watched as he was led back to his own table. At one point, he glanced back at you and offered you a small smile.
Suddenly you didn't feel so sad anymore.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
If the beaches in Hawaii were any different than the ones back home in Sunset Bird, then you sure couldn't tell. There was water, there was sand, shells and seaweed and crabs. You didn't understand why you had to leave your new best friend, Cove, and travel all that way when you could have done the same things back home.
"Tough luck, kiddo," Mommy told you. "You're only 8, so you're still going to be stuck with us for a while."
Really, you did understand it -- you all flew in to visit your family on Ma's side. You rarely got to see them after they moved away from California, and it made Ma happy to get to spend time with them. It made you happy too, of course, but you couldn't help but sulk a little bit. You didn't know you'd have a best friend when you first heard about the trip.
That day, everyone had decided to make a day out of going to one of the nicer local beaches. There wasn't as many people at this one, your grandfather had explained, mostly just some locals and some visitors from a nearby resort.
You'd been there a few hours when you took it upon yourself to make a sandcastle. Liz wanted to go swimming again and the adults were talking, so you were perfectly content playing by yourself. You were pretty far into the process, working on the sandy little structure with such focus that you didn't notice someone had approached you until they spoke.
"Nice castle."
The boy, tall and thin and maybe a little bit older than you, gave the compliment easily, but you didn't feel like he was being insincere. You felt your chest puff out a bit in pride, telling him, "It's not a big deal, I make these all the time at home."
"No, it's really good," he insisted. "I like your battlements."
"My what?"
He hesitated for a moment, then crouched down beside you. He pointed out all the different parts of the castle, telling you the technical names for them and their purposes.
"You sure know a lot about castles," you told him when he was done, and he laughed.
"You sure know a lot about building them," he replied. He wouldn't meet your eyes after that, and you felt yourself blushing a little. It was uncomfortable, but somehow nice at the same time.
Reaching out to the building tools laid out beside you, you picked up a shovel and held it out to him in a silent invitation to join you. He smiled, but before he was able to take it, someone nearby called out "Baxter!"
Baxter. You were sure you didn't know anyone by that name, but it still itched something in your brain. You tried to place it, why you remembered the name when you were positive you'd never heard it before, but before you could, the boy stood, brushing off his hands.
"I have to go," he said. "Perhaps we can meet up another time."
You hoped he was right.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
13 was a difficult year for you. So many things were changing around you and within you, and you were unsure about so much of it. Everything felt intense and heavy and weird, and it wasn't a good feeling.
But when the boy at the country club soiree asked you to dance, things in your head calmed down, just for a few minutes. But it was enough.
He was beautiful, you thought -- you'd never seen a kid your age look so fancy before. His suit was well tailored, he didn't have one single black hair out of place and when he danced with you, he moved you around so effortlessly. It felt like you were in a movie that you loved but couldn't remember the name of. It felt right.
It was over as soon as it had begun, and before you could do anything, before you could even ask him his name, he'd disappeared back into the crowd.
You knew you'd been prone to dramatics lately, unable to contain all the big feelings that had been raging like a storm inside of you.
Still, this felt like more of a loss than it should have.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"I can't believe it."
"Honestly, neither can I. It's quite the strange series of coincidences, isn't it?"
That was an understatement.
You were 18, sitting beside Baxter in the condo he was renting out for the summer. The very first time you'd met -- or met again, as it turned out -- he'd realized that you'd danced together five years earlier at the Summer Soiree. It had taken a little over a month of talking constantly, seeing each other almost every day and getting comfortable enough to tell each other about your lives that you'd realized you'd also met twice before that.
Baxter's memory was incredible, but what was even more extraordinary was the idea that the two of you had been running into each other in five-year increments since you were little kids. The world was so wide and full of so many people, but somehow it had brought you together again and again.
You knew that Baxter was only staying in Sunset Bird temporarily, that he'd be going back to college in Virginia when the summer was over. He'd been very clear about that, that your romantic relationship would just last while he was in town. But that magic of it all had you hoping against hope that maybe this time you could give the universe a break -- maybe you could stick together from here on out.
That all felt like too much to say though, so instead, you joked, "Do you want to go ahead and make plans for Summer 2021, or do you think we should leave it up to fate again?"
A strange expression crossed his face -- you couldn't quite make it out. It was something like pain.
Finally, Baxter said, "Fate's been kind enough to us for the past 15 years, hasn't it? Suppose we give it one more try."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
As they say, the third time's the charm.
When you met Baxter on the beach in Hawaii when you were 8, you didn't realize then that he was the boy who showed you kindness in the middle of a meltdown at the country club five years before. And when you danced at that same country club when you were 13, you weren't able to put things again then, either.
When you dated at 18 for a brief, beautiful summer, you'd almost made it -- you felt it then. The two of you had fallen in love, you'd both felt the same pull towards each other, but he wasn't ready.
Another five years had to pass, another chance meeting had to come about. This time, fate pulled him to you with him kicking and screaming and fighting against it, sure he didn't deserve it, but it pulled him just the same.
And now, as you watched him sleeping beside you in your shared bed in your shared home, you smiled knowing that you could finally give fate a rest.
There was just a few minutes left until your alarm was set to go off. You briefly considered closing your eyes for a little bit longer, pulling him against you and soaking in his warmth before you had to get up for the day, but as your eyes adjusted to the first bits of sunlight streaming into the room, you saw his pretty bare back facing you.
His skin was milky white and dotted with delicate little beauty marks -- a few on his shoulders, a couple down just above his waist line and some in between. You took a finger and started tracing along his back, going from one mole to the next, connecting the dots. They could be constellations. Your favorite galaxy.
"What are you doing?" Baxter asked, his voice groggy.
"Just thinking about how much I love you," you answered.
It took him a couple of tries, his gracefulness nonexistent in the mornings, but eventually he managed to capture your hand as it moved along his waist. He gently pulled you down and against him so that you were holding him from behind, squeezing your hand as he held it against his chest.
"It's time to wake up soon," you told him, placing a kiss on the back of his neck.
He groaned and scooted himself closer against you.
"Can I ask you something?"
Baxter groaned again, but you started planting kisses along his shoulder to placate him. When you felt him settle into the feeling, a few lighter, airier breaths telling you that he was waking up, you said, "What do you think we'll be doing five years from now?"
He let out a sleepy little laugh, then turned so that he could look at you. There was a little drool dried on the corner of his mouth, his hair was sticking up everywhere, but he was beautiful, and he was yours.
He didn't reply at first, instead taking your hand that he still held and moving it closer to his face. You watched as he gently stroked your palm, then each finger, one by one. He stopped on your ring finger -- the ring finger on your left hand -- and began tracing little circles around the base of it.
"Hmm," he said, lifting your hand to place a kiss in the same spot. "I wonder?"

Soldier On
Getting that call felt like a nightmare.
Bruce owned a small resort on one of the islands in the state of Hawaii, running it with his wife, Brandy with their gaggle of kids roaming around. He was content where his life was and where he ended up. Good weather, great wife, a few kids. He didn't think he could want anything more. Well, granted, he wishes he had a better relationship with his brothers.
He left home practically the moment he turned eighteen. After his parent's divorce when he was about thirteen, things got difficult. They spent a lot of time with their grandmother and Bruce just could not wait to get out. His biggest regret was leaving his brothers behind with their mother. Their father had cut off all contact. Either that or their mother had. It didn't matter.
Floyd wrote letters but that was the majority of their contact. He started some kind of music career and seemed to be doing pretty well with himself.
Clay was in college, working on a Master's degree or something. Bruce wasn't entirely sure. Clay wasn't on speaking terms with him at all, feeling abandoned when Bruce fled the moment he could.
And Branch? Well, Bruce hadn't really heard from Branch since the youngest had moved in with Grandma. He'd have to be 16 or 17 now. Almost an adult. Almost ready to do whatever he wanted with his life. Bruce had no idea what that was.
And then there was John Dory, the forgotten one. He had been about fifteen when their parents divorced and their father took him in said divorce. They never heard from him again.
It was in the middle of the day when got the call. "Is this Bruce...."
"Yes?"
"This is LA Military Hospital. Are you related to a... John Dory?"
He hadn't heard that name in years.
Decades, even.
"He's... he's my brother."
"We haven't been able to find any contacts. We are glad to reach you. There is some news I have to tell you."
She had to tell him over the phone. Turned out, John had joined the military many years ago but recently had been severely injured in an explosion overseas. She didn't expand on the shape he was in but apparently soon he would be released and he had no where to go. Not that he would have argued but Brandy was with him when he was told and she told him to get him and bring him home immediately. She booked him a couple of tickets - one for him and the other for John - and told him to get him.
He wasn't sure if he had even mentioned John to her. He must have, right? Bruce had been thirteen the last time he saw JD. He didn't know what to expect.
He didn't expect to walk into a physical therapy center and having to ask which one of the severely injured men there was John Dory. He couldn't even recognize his own brother. He didn't expect to be shown the area and he didn't expect to see his brothers struggling to walk with only one leg. He didn't expect the all the bandages or the newly shaved head or the scar on his face.
"Sugar and cupcakes," John hissed in pain.
Oh yeah, that was JD.
The therapist he was with looked amused. "You have to be my only patient I have never heard swear."
"Force of habit, I guess... or nostalgia. Take your pick," John grunted.
"You must be pretty popular with parents."
"Their kids find it hilarious," John managed snarky grin. "Probably corrupted a few."
"You're doing great, John," the therapist smiled. "You are making a lot of progress."
"Maybe I should slow down then," he joked. "The sooner I can walk, the sooner I get kicked out on the streets."
"You don't have any family?"
"Tried finding them when I turned eighteen. Turns out, I'm no detective and finding cut off family can be harder than it looks."
"JD," Bruce called.
John's shoulders tensed. "I told you Mouth, not to call me that. Only my br..." he snapped, turning around. He paused and blinked, staring at Bruce.
"I know I look different than that 13-year old you used to know," Bruce started, awkwardly. "But uhm... the hospital found me? I guess? It's..."
"Bruce," John exhaled, staring at him.
"Yeah, JD," Bruce nodded. "It's me. Been a long time huh?"

In the late 18th century, [...] Lahaina carried such an abundance of water that early explorers reportedly anointed it “Venice of the Pacific”. A glut of natural wetlands nourished breadfruit trees, extensive taro terraces and fishponds that sustained wildlife and generations of Native Hawaiian families.
But more than a century and a half of plantation agriculture, driven by American and European colonists, have depleted Lahaina’s streams and turned biodiverse food forests into tinderboxes. Today, Hawaii spends $3bn a year importing up to 90% of its food. This altered ecology, experts say, gave rise to the 8 August blaze that decimated the historic west Maui town and killed more than 111 people.
“The rise of plantation capital spawned the drying of the west side of Maui,” said Kamana Beamer, a historian and a former member of the Hawaii commission on water resource management [...].

[S]ugar and pineapple white magnates began arriving on the islands in the early 1800s. For much of the next two centuries, Maui-based plantation owners like Alexander & Baldwin and Maui Land & Pineapple Company reaped enormous fortunes, uprooting native trees and extracting billions of gallons of water from streams to grow their thirsty crops. (Annual sugar cane production averaged 1m tons until the mid-1980s; a pound of sugar requires 2,000lb of freshwater to produce.)
Invasive plants that were introduced as livestock forage, like guinea grass, now cover a quarter of Hawaii’s surface area. The extensive use of pesticides on Maui’s pineapple fields poisoned nearby water wells. The dawn of large-scale agriculture dramatically changed land practices in Maui, where natural resources no longer served as a mode of food production or a habitat for birds but a means of generating fast cash, said Lucienne de Naie, an east Maui historian [...].
“The land was turned from this fertile plain – with these big healthy trees, wetland taros and dryland crops like banana and breadfruit – to a mass of monoculture: to rows and rows of sugar cane, and rows and rows of pineapple,” she said.

The Great Māhele of 1848, a ground-breaking law that legitimized private land ownership, laid the ground for big developers to hoard water for profit, said Jonathan Likeke Scheuer, a water policy consultant and co-author of the book Water and Power in West Maui. [...] [T]he creation of private property allowed agricultural corporations to wield “political and ultimately oligarchic power” over elected officials. In 1893, a group of sugar magnates and capitalists overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom’s Queen Liliuokalani, paving the way for the US to annex Hawaii five years later. Sanford Ballard Dole, a cousin of Dole Plantation’s founder, served as the first governor of Hawaii.
When the last of the sugar companies closed in 2016 [...], Scheuer said, the farms were purchased by large investors for real estate speculation and left fallow, overrun with invasive grasses that became fuel for brush fires. Developers [...] took control of the plantations’ century-old irrigation ditches and diverted water to service its luxury subdivisions. In doing so, it left scraps for Indigenous families who lived downstream. [...] [O]n Maui, 16 of the top 20 water users are resorts, time-shares and short-term condominium rentals equipped with emerald golf courses and glittering pools [...].

“The rise of plantation capital spawned the drying of the west side of Maui,” said Kamana Beamer, a historian and a former member of the Hawaii commission on water resource management, which is charged with protecting and regulating water resources. “You can see the link between extractive, unfettered capitalism at the expense of our natural resources and the ecosystem.” Drawn to Hawaii’s temperate climate and prodigious rainfall, sugar and pineapple white magnates began arriving on the islands in the early 1800s. For much of the next two centuries, Maui-based plantation owners like Alexander & Baldwin and Maui Land & Pineapple Company reaped enormous fortunes, uprooting native trees and extracting billions of gallons of water from streams to grow their thirsty crops. (Annual sugar cane production averaged 1m tons until the mid-1980s; a pound of sugar requires 2,000lb of freshwater to produce.) Invasive plants that were introduced as livestock forage, like guinea grass, now cover a quarter of Hawaii’s surface area. The extensive use of pesticides on Maui’s pineapple fields poisoned nearby water wells. The dawn of large-scale agriculture dramatically changed land practices in Maui, where natural resources no longer served as a mode of food production or a habitat for birds but a means of generating fast cash, said Lucienne de Naie, an east Maui historian and chair of the Sierra Club Maui group. “The land was turned from this fertile plain – with these big healthy trees, wetland taros and dryland crops like banana and breadfruit – to a mass of monoculture: to rows and rows of sugar cane, and rows and rows of pineapple,” she said.
[...]
In Hawaii, water is held in a public trust controlled by the government for the people. But on Maui, 16 of the top 20 water users are resorts, time-shares and short-term condominium rentals equipped with emerald golf courses and glittering pools, according to a 2020 report from the county’s board of water supply. The 40-acre Grand Wailea resort, the island’s largest water consumer, devoured half a million gallons of water daily – the amount needed to supply more than 1,400 single-family homes.

Trouble in Paradise | 0.4 | Bradley x Bradshaw x Reader
Tumblr media
Previous Part | Next Part
Synopsis: After the most painful break-up of his life, Rooster is stationed in Hawaii for the next six months. Alone, away from home and hurting, he finds comfort in the arms of a stranger.
Warnings: no use of y/n, age gap (rooster is in his mid-30s, reader is in her early 20s), smut, p-in-v, unprotected sex
Bradley considers calling Mav. He’s sitting in training, trying to listen to the instructor talking on and on about the mission — all he can think about is how badly he has fucked up.
Mav has broken a lot of girls’ hearts, he’ll know what to do. Then it occurs to Bradley that that’s stupid. If he listens to Mav then both of you will end up hating him. He considers for a moment if he would ask his father for advice.
Sure, he knows that Goose would’ve loved to be there for him and teach him right from wrong and how to be a good man. But he hadn’t been here and Bradley had had to teach himself.
No, he wouldn’t have gone to his Dad for advice about this. How could he tell a man who had loved his family so unconditionally that he had fooled around on deployment and now was stuck between his fiancée and a bartender that’s a decade younger than him?
He would have to figure it out on his own.
Amy was the clear choice. She fit into his plan. They were the same age, they had memories and shared opinions, they were both at similar points in their career — he had wanted to marry her once, he just had to get himself back into that headspace.
To do that, he had to stop thinking about you.
He tries.
He takes cold showers, he works out mornings and evenings after work to keep himself busy. He calls Amy every night. He was doing okay — he figured he wasn’t far from what a good fiancé should be.
He even managed on Thursday, his one day off. Amy was busy, his muscles were screaming at him to stop and he knew you were working today. It would’ve been so easy to go find you. Instead, he let Berlin talk him into a few holes of golf at one of the resorts with a couple of the other guys. It wasn’t so bad.
Then it’s Saturday. He’s a couple thousand feet above the ocean — it’s a routine training exercise preparing them for the real mission. Enemy surveillance, it’s run of the mill and he’s not in any danger. But, they train for dog fights anyway.
“Rooster, on your six!”
Rooster looks over his shoulder, finding his instructor on his tail. He pulls up abruptly, clearing himself from the danger behind him.
Riot is next to him. He’s just a kid, really. From the island, fresh out of the academy, on his first assignment. Rooster, being the more experienced aviator, is his wingman for the exercise.
Being the more experienced aviator, he should have noticed that Riot was a little too quiet on the comms. Riot had seen that the instructor was pursuing Rooster, he wasn’t paying attention. He was a little too close.
“Shit!” He breaks right to avoid getting too close to Rooster. Rooster watches it all happen. It’s two gulls. The hard right sends Riot straight into them, they hit the canopy and are sucked into the engine.
The next two minutes feel like they happen in slow motion. Rooster is silent on the comms, it’s the instructor who’s yelling his way through what to do. Rooster just watches Riot panic.
Both engines are out and he falls into a spin. Rooster watches him eject. He watches Riot hit the canopy.
He doesn’t even remember landing his own plane, but he’s back on solid ground before he knows it and Riot’s being rushed off to the infirmary.
“Rooster, you okay?” He blinks and turns his head. The instructor’s hand is on his shoulder — he hadn’t even felt his presence, let alone his touch. Rooster’s reminded that no one out here knows him. Or his dad.
“Is Riot gonna be alright?” He asks gently.
“Yeah, his shoulder hit the canopy, they think he broke something but he’s gonna be fine.”
Rooster pulls the collar of his T-shirt away from his neck. He hates shit like this. He knows he’s been given shit for being too careful his whole life but this is exactly why. You don’t pay attention, this happens.
“His replacement should be here the tomorrow afternoon, someone more experienced,” Bradley furrows his eyebrows slightly as he turns his head toward the instructor.
“Replacement? — you said he was fine.”
“He’s going to be be fine, but you can’t fly with a broken arm, Rooster. Someone’s taking his place for a couple months til he’s back on his feet.”
Rooster nods his head. He feels guilty for a moment, knowing that this kid just had a huge set back because of a training exercise that he was in charge of.
“I told the Admiral that you’d show the new guy around. He’s bunking right next to you so figured it would be convenient if he needs a buddy.”
If he was in a better mood, maybe he would’ve laughed at how much the Captain just made deployment sound like summer camp. Instead, he just nods and heads back to the dorms. He looks at the door next to his as he passes it and hopes whoever turns up tomorrow just stays out of his way as much as possible.
His phone is exactly where he left it, charging on the dresser in his dorm room. As expected, he has a couple of different texts from Amy. Then one from you. It's recent, only delivered fifteen minutes ago. He swipes the message open, brows raising slightly as he examines the picture. He's glad he didn't take his phone with him.
The picture is less than safe for work. You're sitting on your bed, he recognises the poster behind it. Wearing a cute pair of blue panties, but they aren't the focus of the picture. Under the picture, you've typed out 'Won't fade ):' in reference to the three purple bites on your bare chest from the last time he saw you.
He doesn't even bother changing, just grabs his keys, wallet and heads out to his truck. He texts you before setting off, letting you know he's on his way.
"Oh fuck!" You laugh, pushing yourself down from the counter as his reply lights up on your phone screen. Ella's eyebrows raise in intrigue as she drops the dish she was washing into the soapy water as she cranes her neck to look at the screen.
"He's on his way? - I told you!" She slaps your arm, making soap fly across your tanktop. You dip your hand into the sink, flick water into her face and dip out of the room before she can retaliate further. You weren't expecting such a swift reply.
You collect the mess of books on your bed, lifting them and dropping them into the closet, slamming the door shut. Ella listens to you busy yourself around your room. You busy yourself so well that you don't even hear him knocking at the door. Ella answers it for you.
Their brows furrow slightly. Ella looks him up and down, impressed by his uniform, then she steps aside, "She's in her room."
"Thanks." Rooster breathes, patting her shoulder as he passes her.
You spin to face him as the door opens. Rooster watches your lips part as you look him up and down.
"Fuck, you look good in uniform." You breathe, grinning at him. He nudges the door shut behind him, letting out an almost relieved breath as you lurch forward and rise up onto your tiptoes to kiss him.
You open your mouth, pulling back and furrowing your brows slightly. You look him over. He’s tense, you can see it in the way he’s carrying himself. Rooster knows you’re about to ask about his day. He can’t stand the thought of talking about it.
"Where are you headed?" Rooster asks, glancing down at your outfit. You're wearing a grey tanktop and denim cut off shorts. The kind of shorts that the pockets peek out the bottom of them.
"I wasn't expecting you to come over so soon - I have work in an hour." You admit. You don't admit that you like the way he clearly disapproves of your outfit choice. He grabs your hips and turns you around, nudging you a few steps forward to evaluate exactly how short they really are.
Deciding to push him a little, you bend over slightly and wiggle your hips, then look back at him over your shoulder, "You like them?"
Rooster scoffs. He raises his palm and smacks your ass, making perfect contact with your ass cheek thanks to the lack of coverage from your shorts. He grabs your hips and pulls you back against him, kissing your neck, "I like them, I don't like the thought of a bunch of drunk idiots liking them as much as I do."
You press you ass back against his crotch, grinning to yourself. You shrug your shoulders, "I mean, that's how we met. Could be a good opportunity for me to make some more friends."
"Shut up." Rooster grumbles against your earlobe, fingers curling around your hips as he grinds his crotch forward against your ass. You take your lip between your teeth, purely to keep from grinning.
"What? - What's wrong?" You tease. His hand snakes around to your front, popping open the button of the shorts, dragging the zipper down, whilst his other hand holds you tight against him. He shakes his head softly and presses his lips to the hinge of your jaw.
"Once I get you out of these, nothing." He murmurs, rutting his hips forward as his hand dips into your shorts.
You giggle as you try to pull yourself away from him, only to be tugged back against his chest before you've managed a step. His lips press against your neck as he nudges his hand into your underwear.
"I told you, I have to be at work - you'll have to wait." You push against his grip again, hoping he'll keep you exactly where you are. His fingers stroke gentle figures against your clit as his other hand covers yours. He takes your hand and places it over the bulge in his flightsuit. You squeeze his cock gently through the material, heart fluttering at how hard he is already.
"Does it feel like I can wait?" He teases. You can't help but laugh. He kisses your shoulder, "I'll have you there on time, don't you worry."
You push your ass back against him once more, letting your head rest back against his collarbone. Rooster hums as he grinds himself against you, circling his fingers over your clit.
“You started it, sending me dirty pictures whilst I’m working.” He tuts, catching sight of you smiling. He kisses your jaw softly.
“Are you saying you didn’t like it?” You feign innocence, turning your head to look at him over your shoulder. Rooster uses the opportunity to kiss your lips, grabbing your jaw with his free hand and keeping it facing him.
“Don’t be stupid.” He shakes his hand fondly, “Half tempted to make it my lock screen.” He’s joking, until he catches the look in your eye. The excitement — almost validation. He lets go of your jaw and withdraws his hand from your shorts, instead grabbing ahold of the bottom of your tank top and tugging it up.
You lift your arms for him to remove it, watching it land in the chair in the corner. Then you hear the zipper of his flightsuit and he’s kicking off his boots. You gasp as his chest presses hard against your back, forcing you forward until he has you pressed into your mattress.
“Up.” You lift your hips obediently for him, the shorts are thrown to the same place as the tank top.
He tugs your hips up, closer to him. You gasp at his mouth hits the backs of your thighs. The tickle of his moustache is a juxtaposition to the sting of his teeth as he nips softly at your skin. He pressed his lips to your ass cheek, making you giggle as he sucks a kiss to your skin. He nuzzles his mouth against your clothed core, stroking his tongue across the fabric of the cotton until it’s spit-soaked and almost see through.
You whimper softly.
“Want you to think about this when you’re at work later.” Rooster murmurs, pressing an open-mouthed kiss to the skin of your ass cheek, dragging his teeth over the spot. “Since you’ve got me thinking about you all the damn time anyway.” He nips at your cheek, slapping it playfully.
You hum contentedly as you push your hips back against him. He hooks a finger into your underwear and tugs it to the side, finally gracing you with his mouth as he flicks his tongue against you.
“Trying to get under my skin really does it for you, doesn’t it, baby?” He realises, pulling your hips harder against him as he presses a finger into you without warning. You whine at the fresh contact, fingers curling around your sheets, desperate for more.
“You like trying to make me jealous?” He asks, adding a second finger and curling them inside of you. Your soft moans are always music to his ears. You choose not to answer his questions, figuring they're rhetorical for the most part.
“Come on, you know you’ve got all my attention anyway, right, baby girl?” Your pussy clenches around his fingers as he kisses your hip. He raises an eyebrow, “You like that?”
“Fuck, Rooster — please.” You practically cry out. You push yourself up onto your knees and push back against him.
Rooster shakes his head, his hand on your hip steadying you as he fucks his fingers into you, “So needy.”
The sound of him discarding his flight suit has never been such a delight. He brushed his cock against you, just stroking his tip along your core. He groans gently as he rocks his hips forwards into you, leaning forwards and kissing your spine.
You push back against him, humming contentedly as you're met with the growingly familiar stretch of him filling you. Rooster's fingers curve around your ass, grabbing at the skin and squeezing. In this moment now, he just knows he's going to be thinking about you like this for the rest of his life.
He pulls you back against him, rutting his hips forward to bury himself as deep into you as he can. You rut yourself back against him, met with more force this time. You gasp as he drives his cock into you, hard. His hand skims along the tanned skin of your bare back, curling his fingers around the nape of your neck and pushing you down against the mattress.
Your cheek presses against your sheets, stifling the soft moans spilling from your lips as he fucks you. He snakes a hand around your waist, slipping his fingers between your legs.
"Shit, Rooster." You breathe out, fingers curling tight around your sheets as you lift your hips and push back to meet his thrusts. He leans forward and presses his chest to your back, grunting softly as he drives his hips hard into yours.
"I've got you, baby," He hums, pulling you tight against him as his fingers work over the swollen bundle of nerves between your legs.
It’s dirty and hard, and both of you know that you don’t want it any other way. You’re out of your mind around him, and you know that too. Rooster cums on your chest, sitting back against his ankles with him lip between his teeth. You barely even remember that you’re supposed to be at work that afternoon when you’re leaning back on your palms, grinning up at him.
It’s Rooster that reminds you.
“Come on, Baby,” he grabs his boxers from the floor of your room, letting out a heavy breath, “Said I’d get you there on time, didn’t I?”
Your eyes widen, “Shit!”
“You’re fine, we still have — twenty minutes.” He checks his watch and shrugs his shoulders before stepping into his underwear. You groan as you grab make up wipes from your nightstand to clean yourself up.
Rooster dresses himself first, then tosses you your tank top. You watch him cross the room to your dresser, brows furrowing.
“What, I can’t wear the shorts?” You ask playfully, passing him as you stand up to go and grab them. He shrugs his shoulders casually as he pulls open the drawer he has seen you find shorts in previously.
“You can wear whatever you want, baby girl. Just wasn’t sure you’d still want to.” There’s amusement just dripping from his voice. You furrow your eyebrows, wondering what he finds so funny. He glances back at you, then nods to the full length mirror in the corner of your room.
You cross the room, turn and examine.
“Rooster!” He tosses you a different pair of shorts. The ones he has chosen are slightly longer, they’ll cover the three new hickeys on tops of your thighs.
“You liked the ones I gave you before.” He teases, kissing your cheek, “Now get dressed, you’re gonna be late.”
You try to glare at him, watching his grin widen.
You have to admire his commitment to getting you to work on time. You’re still half-dazed as he’s opening the door to the truck for you. He seems more at ease now than before.
“Hey, Rooster?”
He hums to show you that he’s listening as he looks ahead.
“Are you… okay? — You seemed kind of… wound up when you came over.”
He almost winces, but holds it together. He thought he had made it through without being questioned.
“I’m fine.” Rooster glances over and immediately registers that you don’t believe him. He sighs softly, “There was a fuck up today at work, someone got hurt. It’s not that big of a deal.”
You reach out and slide your hand into his, “Wanna talk about it once I’m off of work?”
“No, no — I hate talking about work after work.” He shakes his head quickly. He watches you eye him curiously. “It’s nothing anyway. Just happens sometimes.”
“If you say so, sailor.” You shrug, taking off your seatbelt as he pulls closer to the bar. Rooster goes to take off his seatbelt too.
“Wait, you can’t come in.” You grab his arm, stilling him. He furrows his brows curiously at you, fingers still curled around the door handle.
“Why not?”
“We aren’t allowed to fuck customers. No boyfriends or fuck buddies in the bar, it’s Abi’s rule — saves arguments.” You explain. He watches you turn the rear view mirror toward you and check that you still look okay. As such, he has to turn his head and look out of the back window as he reverses into a spot.
“So does Abi know about me?”
“Fuck no.” You chuckle, shaking your head as you fix your hair. You debate pulling it back, but the hickey under your ear stops you from doing that.
“Cool, so I’m just a regular customer. Promise not to fuck you.” He leans across and kisses your cheek, then slips out of the truck. Your cheeks heat up as you follow him.
“Rooster.” You catch up to him before he makes it around to your side. You stop in your tracks, awestruck by the soft, sweet smile on his lips as he slips his palm gently into yours and squeezes. How the hell is this the same person who had you face down in your mattress twenty minutes ago?
“I’ll be good,” He promises you, “No rule against paying customers coming to see their favourite bartender is there?”
“I guess not.” Rooster brings your knuckles up to his lips, kissing them softly, then releasing your hand. He’s satisfied with that answer.
“So, I’ll see you in there.”
“You can only come in if you promise to tell me about your day.” You pull your hand out of his and poke your index finger into his chest. Rooster narrows his eyes fondly out of you. He tries to make you back down.
Realising that isn’t going to happen and that you’re really going to be late if he doesn’t give in, he groans, “Fine. Move it.”
You glance toward the bar, making sure you’re out of view, then lean forward and kiss his lips quickly, “See you soon!”
His lip quirks as he watches you hurry inside ahead of him. He remembers the thousands of arguments he has had with Amy about him keeping things to himself, especially about work. It’s never been easy to open up — he just doesn’t want anyone to worry about him. He especially doesn’t want anyone to think he doesn’t have everything under control.
You’ve just made further progress in a casual conversation before work than Amy made in six years, and you don’t even know it.

Jobe Bellingham x reader
A/n: @hummusxx @iissza @fleurographist @luvvtrent
I am so sorry for making Jobe a dick. 😭
Tumblr media
When the Bellinghams discovered that Jobe had a two-week break, they wasted no time in booking a surprise vacation for the family. Jobe's anticipation grew as he imagined the luxurious destinations they might visit. Would it be the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii? The vibrant streets of New York? Or perhaps the cultural wonders of South Korea or Singapore? However, when they arrived at their destination, Jobe's excitement quickly turned into disappointment.
Instead of a glamorous five-star vacation, the family had opted for a quieter, peaceful town near the coast. Jobe couldn't help but feel a twinge of dissatisfaction. He had dreamed of attending fashion shows, indulging in six-course meals, and shopping for the most luxurious football gear. These were activities he had imagined doing alone or with his family, free from the incessant pestering of Emma.
Yet, as Jobe explored the town, he discovered that it had its own charm. With its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a renowned five-star resort, he realised there was potential for enjoyment and relaxation. Perhaps he could make the most of this unexpected vacation.
Back at the resort, the family settled into their rooms, intending to rest before heading out for dinner. Jobe, still carrying some lingering frustration from his relationship with Emma, decided to vent his emotions by redirecting his dissatisfaction towards something else. He called for the manager to attend to him immediately.
"I want my room cleaned again," Jobe demanded, his voice tinged with irritation. The manager, visibly nervous, stammered in response, trying to assure Jobe that the room had been adequately prepared.
"But sir, I believe my workers have done a good job in preparing the room for your arrival, Mr. Bellingham."
"Well, I did pay for this room, so I have the right to complain!" Jobe retorted, his impatience showing.
The manager reluctantly called for the cleaners to come to Jobe's room promptly. Moments later, a male and a female cleaner entered, the male looking nervous and the female displaying a touch of attitude. They inspected the room, ensuring they hadn't missed anything, but it appeared just as clean as every other room they had tended to. The male cleaner spoke up, assuring Jobe that the room had already been cleaned.
"See, Mr. Bellingham? You have nothing to worry about. My workers have already cleaned the room specifically for you," the manager chimed in, hoping to diffuse the situation.
Unsatisfied, Jobe persisted with his complaints. He insisted that the room be cleaned again and threatened to escalate the matter to the higher-ups, even going as far as to imply that the manager's job might be at stake. It was then that Y/n L/n, the female cleaner, couldn't contain her frustration any longer.
"Hey asshole! Do you think you're the only guest here?" Y/n's voice carried a note of irritation. "We have many other rooms that actually need our attention. If you hate it so much, why don't you clean it yourself?"
Jobe was taken aback by Y/n's confrontational attitude. He glanced at her name tag, silently acknowledging her identity. Turning his gaze back to the manager, Jobe demanded an explanation for her rudeness. The manager, now even more fearful, hurriedly pulled Y/n out of the room, reprimanding her and instructing her to calm down. Jobe could overhear the manager asking her to find somewhere else to cool off.
"I apologise for my worker's unprofessional behaviour. She can be... unpredictable at times," the manager explained as he reentered the room, attempting to smooth things over.
Jobe huffed in response, feeling a mix of annoyance and curiosity about Y/n's outburst. He decided to put the incident behind him and headed out of the room, seeking activities within the resort to distract himself from his mounting frustrations. Little did he know that this encounter with Y/n would mark the beginning of a journey that would challenge his perceptions and open his eyes to the world beyond his own privilege.

Here’s my drawing of Poppy and Viva when they were younger as humans, holding American Girl dolls that they’ll keep as they grew up until they were reunited in the Philippines during the BroZone reunion tour. It was at that time when Poppy, Rose, and the Snack Pack joined Branch and John Dory in finding their other brothers who went their separate ways when each of them went to college in order to save Floyd, who was being held hostage by Evelyn and Evander Ford a.k.a Velvet and Veneer, Rose’s former friends-turned lifelong enemies. They have been using his blood to extract his DNA to inject it into themselves like heroin to gain talents for themselves.
The BroZone’s transgender member, Bruce Rivera a.k.a Spruce was found in Hawaii, respected as a māhū, owning the Vacay Island Hotel and Beach Resort, and having a family of his own with his wife, Brandy, who is also a transgender woman and a māhū, and Carlos Rivera a.k.a Clay is found in the Philippines with Viva, running one of her aunt’s startup fashion houses.

I apparently won't be able to sleep until I put this down.
What I would have wanted to see in order for me to be happy with the ending of Last Twilight.
Back in Episode 11:
More small miscommunications between Day and Mhork. If the relationship is going to blow up at the end of this episode, I would have liked the underlying crack to be clearer in this episode. Maybe when Mork found Day after he was wandering around on his own, a line about Day not taking his phone with him and Day telling Mhork not to worry so much. That would have been the minimum I needed to feel like Day was starting to worry that Mhork was pitying him again. Day’s worry is a realistic one that they would have needed to work on as a couple, but I need more show about this and less tell.
I think it also would have been interesting if, along with Mhork doing more work, Day is starting to think about going back to school. Maybe a letter from the school asking if he wants to extend his leave from class for another semester. Maybe with this, Mhork says something offhand about going back to school that Day takes as Mhork questioning if he could handle that, but Mhork didn’t mean that way.
Episode 12:
Part 1:
Starts at most a couple of weeks or months later. Not freaking 3 years later.
Day is back at school and talking to Ghee. Ghee asking about Mhork. Day saying he blocked Mhork and why he did that because he thinks Mhork was pitying him and treating him like a child.  Ghee says she’s surprised because it didn’t seem like Mhork was the type of person to pity Day.
Day remembering all the times that Mhork encouraged and supported Day’s independence. Starting when he told to get the library card from him on his own.
Maybe another scene with Night and Day being brothers who get along.
Porjai and baby hanging out with Night at the house. Progress in their relationship.
Day asks Porjai if she knows what’s happening with Mhork. Porjai tells Day that Mhork is working at the resort back in the town where Aon lives. Day asks why Mhork didn’t take the Hawaii job. Porjai says that Mhork decided he didn’t want to be so far away from family (family here meaning Porjai and the baby as they are basically the only family Mhork has left even if they aren’t related) but also Mhork didn’t feel like he could stay in the same city and respect Day’s wish not see him.
Day making the decision to go and see Mhork and the two of them talking it out. Mhork apologizing for lying about the job and not talking to Day about his concerns and worries. Day apologizing for his part in the argument, saying that he wants to understand Mhork better and that he sees Mhork for the caring and loving person that he is. Them committing to talking things out and making their relationship work. They are now officially back together.
Day and Mhork go out to dinner. While they are a bit away from each other Mhork gets a phone call in which he is re-offered the Hawaii job. Mhork asks if he could have some time to think about it. This time Mhork talks to Day about it.
Part 2/3
Now we can do a three-year later jump if it’s necessary. Mhork is working in Hawaii and having a send-off before he heads back home for Porjai’s and Night’s wedding.
No fake out that Mhork is the groom, just don’t.
Mhork walking Day to the car and being able to do that in a cute boyfriend way instead of the weird no-talking way.
Mhork being a happy and supportive boyfriend helping Day at book shop. Day telling Mhork that he doesn’t have to help that he can do this himself. Mhork telling Day that he knows Day can do it himself, but he would like to help anyway because he loves him.
When Day and Mhork go to pick up the suites. Mhork tries on his jacket and is surprised by how well it fits. Day says of course it fits well, he gave the measurement to the tailor himself and who knows Mhork better than him. Also touching, just so much casual touching between them.
Wedding stuff being sorta the same but this Mhork and Day can share looks of understanding when Mom is giving her lecture about being sure to talk to each other in order to work through problems.
No airport scenes as they aren’t necessary.
Mhork teasing Day about what kind of wedding they should have.
At the end of the night Mom gets the text about the eye donation.
Part 4
As Day is talking about his life journey and his growth in relation to the book the Last Twilight, I want to see scenes where Day is taking care of Mhork. I want to see Day reading to Mhork when he comes home from work and is tired. Day and Mhork cook together at home, with Day cutting the vegetables for Mhork. Day picking out which shirt Mhork’s going to be wearing for the day. This is important because
If Mhork is going to be saying to his parents and Rung when he goes to pay his respects that they don’t have to worry about him anymore because he has someone who takes care of him – I want to see Day taking care of him! This was something that I needed as show, not tell. Yes, still have cute scenes of Day and Mhork exploring things together and stuff, but also give me some scenes of the small ways that Day takes care of Mhork and maybe even some of how Mhork takes care of Day as they grow as a couple.
I noped out of watching the rest of part 4 because I got mad about Mhork saying this without it being shown, and that was my limit given how mad I was with the rest of the episode. So, I’m not sure what, if anything, I would change in the last part after this scene. Maybe I’ll try to watch it again later.
I hated that this episode opened up with the idea that they took three years to be in the same room. Let alone talk. Like why? These two were always reaching for each other throughout the series, and this one fight made them let go. Really? I’m not a fan of the time skips, but since they only have one episode left I guess it’s fine. I can definitely think of a way to make it work *waves vaguely at the words above*.

Why are the Sussex twats suddenly obsessed with Central America and the Caribbean, they’ve been to Costa Rica twice now? And they were yachting in the Bahamas?
That’s a good question. I’ve given it some thought and here’s what I think.
1. Compared to many other places around the world, Central America is pretty inexpensive. We know the Sussexes don’t have the money they pretend they do so someplace cheap is their only option. And we know they can only afford cheap (or freebie) vacations because they aren’t going to the usual celeb hotspots like Cannes, the Med, Italy, or even Hawaii, like they were back in 2019 when they were still in the BRF.
2. They go where the money is. If they can be paid for appearing somewhere or have their vacations comped, they’re on the first flight. Remember, the December Costa Rica trip with the kids was totally comped by the resort they stayed at, which suggests it was a sponsorship in kind. The Sussexes stay there for free, Meghan calls the paps or the hotel calls the local press, and the hotel gets the publicity. And given their reputations, it’s going to be unknown entities (like the random Costa Rica resort) who’ll give Meghan everything she wants for a freebie vacation.
3. The Caribbean is probably because of the royal family. It’s two-pronged. First, any time they’re in the Caribbean having fun, the press reminds us of the disastrous Cambridge tour and the uncomfortable Wessex tour in 2022 for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Second, because any time the royal family goes to the Caribbean, Meghan can put out her “we did it first, they’re copying us” stories.
