Lost certainly was one word for it, especially after they'd chased that monster down to stop it from taking their kills. So when Karol had chased the beast, Raven had chased after him to make sure he didn't get into a worse situation. The kid... he was pretty much like family by that point, right? Karol sure did seem to look up to him an awful lot, but gods knew why. Raven felt pretty sure he wouldn't be able to bear it if something happened to Karol. Outside of what had happened at the Blade Drifts, of course. That had been scary for everyone involved.
Eventually, he'd caught up to Karol and joined the efforts to take down the beast and get their catches back. No one would be happy if they came back empty handed. Especially not Rita. Best to avoid Rita's wrath. That was one thing Raven didn't want to be on the receiving end of, and he knew Karol likely felt the same.
One last well timed arrow coupled with a blow from Karol had taken down the beast, and Raven had been relieved. They'd gotten their catches back. They'd taken down a monster that likely could have caused more trouble for others. But now, they were lost. Lost, and as Karol pointed out, about to get caught in a nasty looking storm.
"Well, Cap'n Karol, I think you're right."
What were they meant to do now? Survival skills started to come back to him as he looked around, hoping for any signs of areas they could shelter in. They needed to find something, otherwise they'd both get soaked to the bone. He already could feel the rain starting to fall a little faster, soaking into his baggy coat. Think, dammit!
"First, gotta find somewhere ta take shelter. We ain't gonna have any better of a time if we let ourselves get soaked," he advised. A part of him felt a little odd, being the one giving out advice. Karol had asked for it, though, and he wasn't about to let Karol panic if he could help it.
"There's gotta be somethin'. A cave, a conveniently hollowed and split in half log..." Okay, the second option would be a stretch. But the longer they stood standing around, the more likely they were to get soaked. Old man didn't want to get soaked, and he sure didn't want that for Karol.
Then he heard a clap of thunder. Yeah, okay. No more time to stand around. They needed shelter. Now.
"Quick, let's try that way," he urged, motioning to the side and hoping for the best. He hadn't actually noticed anything new there, but it was worth a shot to look there if nothing else. "Before this ol' man, or you, gets zapped!" Maybe lightning wouldn't actually strike then, but he didn't want to take any chances.

I might be super late on the uptake here but I’ve just noticed that in Into the Spiderverse, when Miles meets Peter for the first time the colors behind Miles shift from Prowler’s purple and green to Spider-Man’s blue and red
With what we know now about the universe Miles’ spider came from, I wonder if that Miles and this Miles traded fates?

Isaiah 53:6 (NLT) -
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the LORD laid on Him
the sins of us all.

In the SU herta wonders how HooH would perceive nanook, I thought before Abt it, HooH isn't doing anything Abt nanook, but then again most aeons that represents a concept of great impact or can single handedly influence the universe have their natural counterpart,
HooH wouldn't kill yaoshi cuz Lan exists, and the destruction acts as a counterpart to continuance of life
Preservation's counterpart is destruction also, I think that's one of the most matched pairs
If ena was still alive then by technicality aha would be their counterpart
Propagation's propagated too much and became a problem for almost everyone but ig mainly it would be ena
Nous got mythus, altho I consider this unnecessary as nous doesn't bring any chaos to the universe
Funnily enough, if we speak Abt philosophies then IX's natural counterpart would be aha. It's worth mentioning aha helped trying to kill IX once just cuz. (I don't enjoy my fav aeons fighting cuz I'll have to side with my bias aka IX )
Neither fuli, nous, akivili or idrila bring any kind of dispute to the table
I wonder tho, oroboros overlaps with IX in a sense, IX's concept definitely overwhelms oroboros', altho the latter is said to have vanished it could be that IX absorbed them. Yet xipe, who doesn't exactly share everything in common with ena did in fact absorb them, Herta asks the same question too. Their paths aren't all that overlapping, harmony may require order but order is more detached
I'm also curious Abt finality, Herta questions nanook's existence when finality is much more grander, and honestly it's the same scenario as the harmony and order. Finality also could've absorbed IX as IX believes in that everything is bound to end and that it's meaningless (but it could be that finality doesn't have the same nihilistic view). I'm more interested in knowing why finality existed in peace, HooH doing nothing Abt it when there's no counterpart that naturally balances it out. Yaoshi is arguably the counterpart but it doesn't quite fit. I'm not even sure what could counter finality, the origin? (I look at u with a HoO Elly pfp Lol) the continuance of life? If that's so wouldn't that be life itself, making the finality represent death? Some of these aeons are way older than the rest, ultimately it doesn't make sense
Anyway tell me which aeon you'd like to follow if you were in HSR world!!! :3

She knew it had to have been longer than when she'd actually asked for those five extra minutes, but dammit the bed was cozy and she just... didn't want to get up. Admittedly, it was her own damn fault. The night before, she'd wound up staying up much later than intended reading one of her books. The aforementioned book had ended up on the floor at some point. Likely after Rita had fallen asleep herself. She'd likely be kicking herself for letting her book stay on the floor like that once she actually was awake. But for right then?
Yeah. The young genius mage was perfectly content to sleep longer if she could get away with it. From the sound of it, the others had already left. All except Karol, who's whining she could still hear despite trying to sleep. What was the big deal if she slept a little longer?
Her brow creased, and she shifted and shuffled under the blanket further as if it would make Karol go away. The annoyance in her mumbled grumbles was muffled by the blanket, but it seemed she wasn't immediately going to launch into Fireball using mode.
Then she felt him nudge her. There was shuffling under the blanket again, and the very distinct glow of the Bodhi blastia around her neck. Oh no.
"I said five more minutes!" Good thing Karol had gotten his bag ready as a shield, because there was a fireball forming and just about to strike.

as we get into more grian stuff I’ll go ahead and admit to the probably most tutu-inspired bit of this au in my head, which is that in the theoretical fifty-episode anime of my imagination, the first arc is basically played entirely straight and goofy, with the goal of putting the spirits back in the jar and re-sealing magic being unquestionably the good guy thing to do and the Enemy being unquestionably bad. the main confounding factor here, of course, is that we as the audience know grian can’t be a villain, because he’s grian, and we know him well enough in his civilian form to know something’s got to break.
the second half, however, is the consequences of the first act. here’s where we start to pull in things like the civilian support group, or cub’s possession and subsequent partnership with the spirit of chaos. we get more of the public debate going on about the magical girl situation and public opinion. we start to get a lot more of grian’s descent and subsequent redemption. and we start to properly question the status quo the beginning of the story gives us: is “put the spirits back in the jar and seal away magic again” really the correct course of action? was the last great mage really a perfect hero? is scar?
do we follow the way we know the story should go, or do we choose a new path?
anyway I thought I’d mention this as I brought up grian’s arc because a lot of the grian stuff, from his perspective, ends up playing into the grey area that exists here.

@amillixnvoices || ❝ i can’t breathe. ❞
It wasn’t supposed to happen this way, it was supposed to be simple and easy. The crime scene was supposed to be secure, and yet it wasn’t. He looked over at her, pausing for a second too long. “Hey it’ll be okay.” He breathed out, but he wasn’t even sure of that himself. Things were going from bad to worse, and he couldn’t even figure out what he was supposed to do for her. “We’re going to get out of here, I just need you to trust me.” His service weapon was out, but there wasn’t even anything for him to aim at, he couldn't figure out where the threat was coming from.
