So we tried out TotstoTravel this time despite feeling it was probably a bit unnecessary as Ada is now 4 - but we found it to be such a help regardless. They think of everything - useful for a week and with a flight involved. Includes gated pools, cool bag/picnic set and sun tents for the beach, kids toys and nightlights and BLACKOUT BLINDS!! (I actually considered getting on the roof of a barn once to cover a Velux window!). Also has locks on the windows upstairs, kids cutlery and the list goes on...especially for those even younger.

Le Jardin Fleuri, in particular, was so good for us because the gardens had so many different areas to play in - Ada loved the little kitchen in little playhouse, the pool was a GODSEND and we always had it to ourselves so it felt like we had our own pool (can you tell I am anti-social!). There were badminton nets, table tennis, and table football to keep the parents happy too.

Each gite has its own private garden, including space out the front and the back. Plus, BBQ and umbrella (the all-important shade!).

There were bikes on tap that you can take out (with a trailer or kids seat) and the owner Janette cooks three-course dinners which were apparently AMAZING - plus quiches and cakes etc. Very useful though when its self-catering and you have a little one upstairs.

The area was one we’d explored before. We’d recommend the following - all 30-40 mins away:

> Explore the shops, beach (with beach tents) and the harbour at Royan

> Gorgeous beach at St George (pictured) - recommend Alcapulco next to an area of sort of ‘Go Ape’ tree climbing at the far end for food.

> Little harbour and sea food at Meshers and so on.

> Pons is a ten min drive and the water fountains and playpark (and coffee!) next to the Donjon was just perfect for Ada (pictured). There is also a pizza/restaurant with playpark down the hill next to the river where you can also hire canoes.

> And a bit further was the beautiful La Palmyre (pictured) which has remote beaches (can park in the woods and walk down), a zoo and great cafes etc.

The flight is to La Rochelle or Bordeaux and it was an hours drive from La Rochelle for us. Very easy.

4 Gites on site. Ours was a two bed (with single and a cot).

A Parigi ho lasciato il mio ❤️. Per me è stato come un incontro magico. Andai la prima volta a Parigi con la scuola, nel lontano 1998🗼😜. Fu amore a prima vista. Mi sentivo a casa.. Mi sentivo nel mio regno e ne rimasi subito incantata. 😌 Città romantica, piena di vita, piena di colore, ricca di arte., regno dell alto #couture e dei suoi ricami💐 Inutile negarlo che io avrei voluto che diventasse il posto incantato in cui poter vivere.💒 Ma la vita purtroppo è ben diversa, infatti sono rimasta nella umida padana ferrarese 🙏🤗. Ma mi sono ripromessa che sarei tornata in quel posto a me caro.. E fu così che, nel 2015, ho preso a forza il marito e siamo volati in terra francese. Una piccola tappa, di soli 3 giorni, ma che mi ha riempito il ❤️. Mi ha fatto rivivere tutte le emozioni provate nel precedente viaggio.. Tre giorni intensi di emozioni che hanno riempito il bagaglio nel ritorno a casa.. Mont Martre, Tour Eiffel, Bateaux Mouches, Notre Dame, Champ Elysee, la nostra amata #versailles Ritorno fatto con la promessa di tornarci il prima possibile. Promessa estesa anche a tutto il resto della Francia. Oh quanto vorrei visitare i castelli 🏰 della Loira, la Provenza con le magiche distese di lavanda, e molto altro ancora..
