Rereading the manga, I think my favorite thing ever is that Edward looks like he’s a feral animal Mustang just kinda found out back one day. He looks like if he bites you you’re going to get a disease, and he looks like he absolutely would bite a person. They really toned down how feral he is in Brotherhood.

Brotherhood Ed is like some poor cat you found in the alley, Manga Ed is the rabid raccoon you’ve been trying to pull put of your trash since 2013 that Will Not Leave

Re-reading the Envy fight scene in Gluttony's portal made me realize how much Edward cherishes life: How deeply the death of Nina affects him, how he tries to keep up his moral to never kill (this is especially emphasized in fma '03), how he sees 48 and 66 as human even if they don't consider themselves as such, how taken aback and upset he is when he realizes the talking faces on Envy used to be people and how difficult it was for him to use Envy's philosopher's stone to escape Gluttony's portal, how in awe he was when the baby was born in Rush Valley, his rants about how alchemy has never been able to create life but humans can do it within their own bodies. He blurs the line of human and not human and even considers those with little humanity left as human beings even if they themselves find it ridiculous. I don’t think anyone sees humanity the way he does.

I generally choose what to make based on fandom events, dates related to Fullmetal Alchemist, and my favorite manga panels and other artwork by Hiromu Arakawa. For instance, I’m planning to make a new collage of Roy Mustang in honor of Roy’s Day (June 1), and I’ve selected a particular panel of Roy from Chapter 101 of the manga.

You’ve inspired me to start making this new collage early and to document the process with photos and descriptions in order to post an illustrated and detailed follow-up answer to your ask. My collages tend to take a week or two to make, so I expect to post that follow-up answer within the next couple of weeks.

Al is soooo annoying when it comes to Winry having to work on his automail because he screeches the entire time

uhhhhh. I was figurign out some stuff for Al's outfit and I settled with a partially buttoned shirt over a black tanktop <3 AND. I stumbled upon a better quality version of one of the panels with Ed's armor AND IT HAS COLORS. turns out the things on his chest ARE tassels, AND his fingers are actually mostly connected! which is fun. (WRITHES AROUND ON THE FLOOR)

besides that. I'm still figuring out stuff for the Au. which is fun. One of the major things I'm trying to pin down the!! Damn names! Right now I got. Half Metal alchemist. for obvious reasons. but idk I just don't like it that much; it still has the potential for mixing up Ed and Al. because. yeah. shrugs. second option is Tongued Alchemist. which is ironic as fuck. it also keeps up with Ed and Al mixed up. Because Ed doesn't fucking shut up. other one is the Gold Alchemist but like Ed doesn't really have any reason to be the gold alchemist so. not much reasoning to mix them up. sighs. if you have any suggestions I am very open to listening <3
