Enabled NY @insert-clever-username-1133 here is the AU lore I have come up with for Liminal: The Unstraying.

Put under the cut because I have a suspicion it will get long.

Geduldh as an eldritch goddess of decay right alongside earth, winter, etc. Geduldh being powerful.

In the AU lore, if Ewigeliebe hadn't gone bananas and constantly tried to reduce everything to white sand out of jealousy, dead things would decay and “return to the earth” and in turn enrich it, enrich her. Underground, caves, and such are frequently associated with death and the afterlife in many of our religions and myths, what if the same applied to Geduldh? Or would've applied, if not for Ewigeliebe. Maybe the soul still ascends to the heights but the body returns to her warm embrace, maybe she's supposed to have both. They're her descendants after all. The all-mother.

Let's take a look at Aztec cosmology for instance.

So there were two earthly entities (Coatlicue and Cipactli) both of whom were characterized as ever hungering Lovecraftian horrors. Coatlicue was said to she “feed on corpses, as the earth consumes all that dies”, a goddess of also war and childbirth I believe. On the other hand, Cipactli represented the earth floating in the primeval waters— no idea how the two were related to one another but a source did mention Coatlicue as having originally been a priestess not a goddess so who knows really— who ate anything the four sun gods made because there was no land and so their creations kept falling into the primordial ocean. They had to kill the thing and make it into the earth (even then Cipactli wasn't really dead, so had to be sated with blood sacrifices so it won't go all murder-happy on the rest of the population). Also Cipactli was described as “always hungry, every joint on its body was adorned with an extra mouth”.

Heck, even outside of Aztec cosmology if we look at say Demeter, she's still fucking terrifying? Like, she can withhold her blessings so that nothing would grow? Her sulking/grief over Persephone nearly killed the world? WINTER EXISTS BECAUSE SHE REFUSES TO LET ANYTHING GROW????

And Persephone herself, even if it's debatable whether she actually was a nature goddess or not (sources vary), is still like. Both a nymph and a fuck-off terrifying queen of the underworld.

I'm not sure if it's canon but while fics invoke Geduldh's name in euphemisms to mean passivity... Sure, canon Geduldh may be like that, but what if she was allowed to be angry? The thought that earth goddesses are supposed to be all demure and passive is kinda laughable.

She's compassionate and wants to embrace her children in death but she can't and that makes her fucking angry. And perhaps Geduldh's all-encompassing acceptance is an offshoot of her father's all-devouring hunger/loneliness. She is her father's daughter, after all, and it would be fun if she was more like him than anybody else.

Darkness and earth could be very plausibly linked too, in my opinion, like so:

“Never fear the darkness, Bran. The strongest trees are rooted in the dark places of the earth. Darkness will be your cloak, your shield, your mother's milk. Darkness will make you strong.”

and

“The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.”

Also earthquakes are terrifying, let me tell ya, and I haven't even experienced a big one.

On the topic of earthquakes— Remember that Mycenaean Greece's Poseidon was more an earth/underworld god with the “earth-shaker” epithet than a sea god and Hades didn't exist in that era and Zeus wasn't the most important god back then— Poseidon the earth-shaker was.

And on the topic of passivity, it actually made me think of Cinderella, and how Cinderella to me is a tale of an abuse victim persevering and escaping her abusive situation. She remains kind and polite bc you know abusers, they don't take well to being talked back to or anything like that, they see any sign of discontent, they bring down their boot on you ever harder. I know this because I'm in an abusive household at the bottom of the totem pole 🥲 People have talked about and analyzed the Cinderella story from this angle far better than I have, and I hope y'all come across such analyses eventually. I'm not too physically well to do an in-depth dive into this one unfortunately.

Geduldh is trapped in an abusive marriage. Her family doesn't cast Ewigeliebe out or kill him because they (it was the God of Darkness in particular I think) want living things. How does Geduldh feel about any of it? Of her body being used like that? Unclear in canon. But what if in the AU, she's angry?

It's not that she doesn't want children or living beings, far from it, it's just that she wants a say in how Yurgenschmidt is governed. She is also associated with compassion if I recall correctly, and noble society... is the opposite of compassionate.

And to add to the fucked up cake we have... The goddess of Chaos. If I remember correctly she desired the God of Darkness but couldn't obtain him but what if. What if she had a fucked up Petyr Baelish thing going on, like he saw Sansa Stark as the daughter he could've had with Catelyn but also desiring Sansa to be his, same dynamic between the Chaos Goddess and Geduldh, the child most like the God of Darkness.

All of that cumulates in Geduldh making a divine messenger in the form of a Devouring child born mysteriously fatherless in the Adalgisa Palace. Well, twins. But Horaia's is a whole nother thing not many will be stoked to learn about since they're an OC and I've already posted about their backstory on tumblr before, so we're skipping over it.

Bonus round: Geduldh's Monster.

Not the backstory, but the Vibes™ Horaia, especially civil war era Horaia, is supposed to give:

The vibe of blood vessels being exposed and pulsating, even on armor and clothes, like they're a part of Horaia's body itself. Not literal blood vessels but like. Looks close enough to be Creepy™. The armor is them and they're the beast the monster the killing machine on the battlefield, it's just another of the roles they play. Horaia already feels like they're acting out roles in hopes of not sticking out as inhuman among noble society (it's naaaaasty) so this time, why not lean into a role they'll fear out of spite? (In the sense of “oh you preach cruelty to me? you want cruelty? FINE I'LL GIVE YOU CRUELTY.”)

Like Hector who spooks his son because he was wearing a war helmet and it symbolizing how war makes monsters out of them all? Somewhat like that but entirely voluntarily.

Horaia, touching the face of her betrothed Ferdinand, the one whose hand in marriage they won in ditter after Magdalena ditched him (not out of romantic love, it's entirely platonic, both Ferdinand and Horaia in this AU being aroace, but a deep desperate sense of friendship, codependency, attachment, and duty), asking him “If I become something unforgivable, would you still love me?” and afterwards accepting Geduldh's (+chaos') blessings into their body to become That™. Corrosive, devouring magic, if you know the Shadow from Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel? Yeah, that. The same effect that thing has on pretty much everything.

Not my favorite Dany look, but I also don't hate it. It's pretty she looks stunning, but for AoaB, the shillouette is wrong. I love the high neck and the cutout! It's a fashion trend that I hope Rozemyne eventually introduces to Yogurtland. A great look that's a little too modern for the world of AoaB.

MOTHER😍😍😍

When it comes to fashion in GoT, you can not outdo the doer, and She(yes, with a capital S) is Cersei Lannister. The color, the cut the metal waist belt with the lions on it with the matching necklace 😭 I'm gagged! She's amazing! One point off because while I feel like on it's own the dress would work well in AoaB, but something about it is just off. i dont think it would completely work. Maybe it's the down hair 🤔

FERDINAND IS DEAD AND HE MOST DEFINITELY THINKS SHES A HARLOT💀

First, let me preface by saying I LOVE this dress. It's one of the best dresses in GoT period, but It would NEVER work in AoaB. To them, she's practically naked. Sheer cloth? No sleeves? Neckline to the navel? Oh no honey its straight to the white tower with you! The metal additions are nice, and I can see someone crafting those out of feystones. It's also long enough...so 2 points🤷🏾‍♀️

Would fit in the world but not as a dress as a woman's riding outfit, which is what i believe it's supposed to be in GoT as well. In a different color, it's giving future Aub Alexandria ready to defend her duchy. She is a fierce leader, and looking at this outfit, you would never question that.

I'm not gonna lie... This is my favorite Game of Thrones look. I think the moment we saw Natalie in this, we all fell in love Margaery. However, for AoaB, it could work with some VERY minor tweaks. The neckline is, of course, too low, and it's backless, but it's very tasteful. I think this is a style Rozemyne could introduce in the future, especially given how hot Alexandria is. She already introduced sleeveless dress and in GoT the reason for the margaery's "risqué" dress is because Highgarden(where she's from) is very hot especially in comparison to King's Landing which is said to have moderate to hot weather.

Our first House of the Dragon look and it's 🥰 🥰 I can literally see Elvira wearing this. It's giving everything it should. The silhouette is perfect, the metal additions are stylish, and the headband is too die for! It's giving everything it needs to for an AoaB dress, and I love it!

BUT I CAN SEE THE VISION!! Other than being backless, I think Rozemyne has already laid the foundation for this style of dress. I think a slight alter to the silhouette and some very off the shoulder sleeves and boom! we have an Aoab appropriate dress. But the belt, the metal work at the neckline, I think it would fit in very well eventually.

Just close up the neckline, and you've got a perfect AoaB dress. This one was a favorite of HotD fans, and it's easy to see why. It's a beautiful dress. I could see a noble lady wearing this right now.

This is another future Aub Alexandria dress. Again, I think for Yurgenschmidt it's too much skin, but again, I think Rozemyne will eventually introduce fashion like this. The cape incorporated into the outfit to make sleeves is 😍😍😍. This is how she's gonna show up to the archduke conference stunting on the hoes 👏 👏👏 I feel like high necklines are just in Rozemyne's future🤷🏾‍♀️

The sleeves😍😍😍 The waistline😍😍😍 The paneling 😍😍😍 She's carrying Geduldh's burden and she is stunning! For once the hair is also very AoaB which is more common in HotD than in GoT as they try(and kinda fail) to create a unique fashion identity for HotD. I'm a big hair snood fan and I'm living for this one. The color of the dress is also fantastic. If you wore this is Yurgenschmidt and no one would even guess that you're from another world.

Omg I had so many more to talk about, but what are you guys AoaB fashion inspirations? Any movies or TV shows? Are we all still in love with that Susan Pevenasie dress from the end second Chronicles of Narnia movie? Please tell me! I love seeing everyone's thoughts in this fandom🥰

Together, they carried six jugs of water and thirty-four towels to the customers. When they got there they saw that Kuro had already given them their menus. There were a lot of new faces today. An older gentleman with greying-purple hair was sitting next to a woman with greying-blond hair, two others sitting with them looked to be their adult children (the boy shared that man’s face shape while the girl shared her mother’s looks) while beside them sat their respective spouses, a woman with pink hair and a blond haired man. There were others too, a boy who looked sixteen and a girl who looked eight.

“Sorry for the delay.” Riya said as she walked up to their table to give them a jug of water and their towels, “Please enjoy the warm towels and cold water as you consider what to order.” 

She next went to Natto set meal’s table, “Sorry for the delay~ Please enjoy the warm towels and cold water as you consider what to order.” Doing a quick count of the table, she noticed Natto set meal herself was missing. Where did she go-?

“- Let me in!” 

“No.”

Turning around she noticed Natto set meal was trying to plead with Mesti about something, ‘ Ah… ’ Riya thought to herself, ‘ So it’s one of those days… ’ The first time this happened Riya was confused, Natto set meal was arguing with Mesti about something and things got a little heated, apperently Natto set meal did something stupid (according to Mesti) and so Mesti barred her from coming to her library which was a pretty big deal because Mesti had the largest library in all of Yurgenschmidt (which was a bit odd because shouldn’t the Royal Family have the largest Library? It’s probably one of those secrets about Mesti she’ll never come to know the truth of) and Natto set meal loved to read.

Usually her Husband was the one to stop Natto set meal from interacting with Mesti but today he was a bit preoccupied and was arguing with the man with purple hair and another man with red hair.

“Ferdinand~! You should have told me that you and Karstedt found the door in the middle of the Noble forrest the last time you visited!” 

“I didn’t say it then because I knew you’d react in such a way you fool!”

“This is so unfair! There was a door in my Geduldh that did not involve Karstedt’s Wife’s hidden room and none of you said anything!”

“Sigh…”

Riya ignored their conversation and went to give Mesti and Natto set meal to give them two jugs of water (Mesti didn’t like ice in hers) and their towels, “Sorry for the delay~! Will it be the usual?”

“Yes!” Natto set meal said

“Yes, I would also like to have a plate of Garnele croquettes as well.” Mesti said. 

“Two regulars and a plate of Garnele croquettes.” Riya nodded, “Got it, I’ll be back with your orders.” 

She took a few more orders and left. When she came back with the food, the black brood trio was already seated and Kuro was taking their orders.

“Thank you for your patience~!” Riya said, “Please enjoy your meal-” Riya stopped talking when she saw Mesti glaring at Consomme (a man with light-blue hair) and the man with purple hair, ‘ She’s doing it again… ’ Riya thought to herself. Mesti would sometimes glare at the other customers in such a way Riya wouldn’t be surprised if the customer in question died from a heart attack even if it would be an accidental heart attack. “Oreo parfait!” Riya said, “Stop that.” 

“Apologies…” Mesti said, “I shall refrain from doing so in the future.”

Riya had no doubt Mesti would go back to glaring at Consomme in a few months time (and the other guy if he decided to become a regular) but Riya said nothing, “Here is your Garnele croquettes, your Oreo parfait will be here shortly.”

“Thank you.”

Riya looked around for Natto set meal and found her to be sitting with her Husband and retainers which was fine by her because she was carrying their meals as well, “Here is your Natto set meal, here is your consomme, here are the bacon pizzas and garlic breads, the other soups will be given shortly.” Riya went back to the kitchen to get the soups.

The entire shift carried on like this, greet the customers, get them a towel and water, get them the menu, take their order, tell Sir or Leo their order, go back to see if anyone new has entered if so take their order if not try to talk to Mesti for a few minutes but then go back to work because new customers came in or wanted the check or wanted more soup.

It was tiring work.

“I got something for you.” Mesti said during one of the short breaks Riya had.

“Again?” Riya laughed, “You gave me a watch the last time!” A few months ago Shuu walked in wearing a watch which lead to a discussion between Shuu and Mesti about time taking in Yurgenschmidt and on Earth, fast forward to last week and Mesti gifted her a beautiful watch with multi-coloured fake gemstones circling the watch (Riya thought Mesti had an odd fascination with gemstones, everything she had ever gifted her had at least a few fake gemstones on it). “You’re honestly making me look bad!” In the only things Riya could gift Mesti were books, not only were they cheap enough her small budget to handle but Mesti seemed to genuinely enjoy the books, so Riya continued to give Mesti books, sometimes even throwing a few pens and pencils into the mix as well as a few blank notebooks.

Once Riya jokingly gifted Mesti her Thematic Cartography notes and Mesti refused to give back the notes and so from then on Riya also started to gift Mesti textbooks as well, she knows a guy who knows a guy who ran a shop in Park Street selling pirated textbooks at cheap prices which fit perfectly into her budget, sometimes she even got discounts due to how frequently she visited the store, lowering prices even more allowing her to buy more books.

Mesti pulled out a small ring with seven tiny flowers bunched together, each flower containing numerous tiny fake gemstones. “This is for you.” Mesti said with a straight face.

Riya almost burst out laughing, but she didn’t, she managed to keep her laughter in, “If I didn’t know any better I’d’ve thought you were proposing!” They had only been dating for one and a half years by this point! This time Riya couldn’t hold back her laughter, “Fu fu fu!”

Mesti just blinked. “What?”

It took a while for Riya to calm down, “Eh Hem! Well, on Earth people give their significant others rings when they propose to them, you know, engagement?” Riya said, “You don’t give each other engagement rings in Yurgenschmidt, do you?” As far as Riya remembered, Yurgen citizens gave their significant others something else than rings, what it was Riya could not remember, bracelets maybe?

“No. We do not.”

Ding! That was the sound of someone coming in!

“Hello and welcome~!” And that was the sound of Aletta greeting the customer who just entered.

“Excuse me.” Riya told Mesti, “Breaks over.” She went to go get the warm towels and water, but not before noticing almost all the Yurgen Noble were just… Staring at her… It was a little unnerving, maybe they needed something? “Do you need anything?” She asked. Again they were silently looking at her so Riya continued, “Water? Pork soup? Another serving of your order?”

“You shouldn’t-” Natto set meal was quickly cut off by Fried rice.

“We would appreciate one more serving of Pork soup.” Fried rice said, “All of us.”

Riya nodded, “Thirty-four servings of pork soup coming right up!”

First most hits: The Last Time

After settling into his new anonymous life, Peter picks up a new coffee habit. But is it really just for the sake of routine, or is it an excuse to see his old friends? Peter resolves that today is the last time, and then he will truly cut ties with his past. After all, that's what he wanted, wasn't it?

You may not know this about me, but Spider-Man is my oldest and deepest obsession. I didn't like how No Way Home ended. I didn’t want to rewrite canon or anything, but I did want to explore how Peter (especially MCU Peter) would do a terrible job at staying away from his friends. Most likely this fic only has such a high hit count because the fandom is massive.

I wrote the first chapter of this fic as a oneshot, but it’s become a multi-chapter slow burn identity reveal fic now and I am atrocious at updating with any semblance of a reliable schedule. I’m trying to get a lot of it outlined and several chapters written before I start posting again.

Second most kudos: Glockwork

Sometimes, the answer is violence. In which Clockwork rescues Danny from the Guys in White in a more conventional manner.

Joining fandom events (especially for Danny Phantom) has resulted in several one-off crack fic ideas. This is one of them. My second-longest obsession after the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films has got to be Danny Phantom. I somehow managed to avoid phandom participation for nearly 20 years. And honestly, y’all are insane, but in a good way I think.

Glockwork isn’t even my joke. I just couldn’t think of a better pun than the meme this was based on. I am glad to have contributed any small part to fandom lore. Also, Clockwork with a gun is hilarious. The original art that inspired this fic was drawn by @ravenatural-art

Probably has so many bookmarks since I'm still actively updating it, and many people prefer to read completed longfics. Also, there are just so many Danny Phantom fics out there. If you want a fic that doesn't involve dissection, maybe this one's for you.

My current obsession, Ascendance of a Bookworm! It’s a slice of life turned high fantasy political thriller light novel series. I highly recommend it. Let’s just say, I was unhappy with the turn of events in Part 4 Volume 8, so I wrote something to deal with that. Ironically, a lot of what I’d written and wanted to happen actually came to pass, if not in exactly the same way. This was also written at the turning point where I stopped waiting for the paperbacks and ended up reading all the way up through pre-pub. I haven't quite gone so far as to read to web novel.

Fifth most words: The Long and Winding Road

While traveling the West Road, Alistair becomes the unwitting guard of a merchant caravan. When he leaves camp later that evening to gather firewood, he meets a strange, enigmatic elf who is lost in the forest. They spend a brief time together before their paths diverge once again.

This was written for a Dragon Age event! It was a fic exchange in which people requested either romantic or platonic pairings with Solas. I picked the Solas & Alistair platonic pairing. I have them sharing a camp together for the night. It’s a very moody, contemplative piece, I like it.

"I lay in dark and dreaming sleep while countless wars and ages past." This song blends the Lost Elf Theme and the Thedas Love Theme, and also introduces a new theme of my own devising which can be heard in the opening bars of the piece. This is a programmatic piece, which means that each part of the song represents an unfolding story. For program notes, see the end of this page.

Feels like cheating though cause it’s not words at all. It’s music. Dragon Age inspired music (though I did lift part of a theme whole cloth for this piece, it was too pretty to deconstruct).

Fic with the fewest words that is actually a fic would be A Terrible Bedside Manner.

By the power of fan fiction, the laws of time and space have been broken to bring us this little nugget: what if Richard Maxwell was working for Regis when he first came to Odyssey? This tiny bit of chaos was incredibly fun to write. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

It’s Adventures in Odyssey crack fic based on the two most compelling characters in the series, who also happen to be the villains (in a series that Did Not Need Any Villains).

Ⓠ Nobles turn into feystones when they die, when a commoner without mana dies, does their corpse remain? For example, who has Liz’s feystone?

Ⓐ Unless they die an unusual death, like in battle, a noble’s corpse will remain for a certain period of time as well. The feystone is extracted from the body by a priest wielding the Sword of Life during the noble’s funeral ceremony. So, unless the feystone is extracted from the body, it will be lost. Liz’s feystone returned to Geduldh’s womb.

Ⓠ When a blue priest or child in the temple with mana dies, will the remaining feystone be given to the family, or does it belong to the temple?

Ⓐ The feystone from the blue priest would be given to their family. If they refuse to accept it, it will belong to the temple.

Ⓠ When nobles die, they turn into feystones, but what about commoners? If there is a difference between nobles and commoners, what will happen to Myne?

Ⓐ Commoners aren’t completely devoid of mana, but they have too little to turn into a feystone. Since Myne has a lot of mana, even among the nobles, she will turn into a relatively large feystone packed with densely compressed mana.

Ⓠ Are they any cases of blue priests secretly taking one of their own children, which they had with a gray shrine maiden, as their attendants?

Ⓐ It is a very rare occurrence, but it happens.

Ⓠ Did the blue priests who returned to noble society have a debut? Would it only be attended by their relatives, or did they have a proper winter debut? I’m curious, if they haven’t come of age yet, would they join the other children?

Ⓐ They debuted in the Great Hall along with the newly baptized children. If their parentage wasn’t made clear, it would be a sure cause for trouble, and they needed to prove they could conduct themselves as nobles.

Ⓠ Are the blue priests and shrine maidens who weren’t baptized as nobles and those who became servants because they didn’t have sufficient mana for their status considered commoners? How does this affect their baptism and the storage of their medals?

Ⓐ There are nobles and commoners among them. Blue priests and shine maidens must occasionally leave the city to perform religious ceremonies, and they are paid by the temple, so they must be baptized before they enter the temple to clarify their parentage. If they can make the magic tool that measures their mana shine, they will be treated as a noble, if they cannot, they will be treated as a commoner. Those who are likely to return to noble society will always be baptized. But among those who became servants, some aren’t baptized and lack a family register.

Ⓠ When a laynoble lacks mana or was born without it, would they become a “commoner”? What would happen if they didn’t have enough mana to be useful to their house as a servant, or if their family didn’t have enough money to send them to the temple?

Ⓐ Those without mana cannot become nobles. They could become commoners, but they are more likely to become unregistered servants. If most children of a family do not qualify as nobles, the family is most likely ruined already. The best solution would be to move out of the city to Giebe-ruled land, have their children baptized as commoners, and gradually mingle with the commoners. If they decide to remain in the city, they will have to adopt a child of their relatives who would make a suitable head of the family. If the head of the family refuses to recognize reality and desperately clings to life in the city, the whole family will be wiped out eventually.

Q: What happened to the book in the lower city that a noble had to pawn for money?

A: Please take a look at Justus’s short story in Part 3 Volume 2. This is kind of irrelevant, but it’s one of the books lost by the family of Eckhart’s late wife, Heidemarie.

Me: Are we going to get THAT back story? ( I only know as far as the English translation, so anyone who knows the full story already.... I don’t mind a little spoiler ) ^_^

Q: What do people think the first time they hear that Ewigeliebe the God of Life imprisons and rapes Geduldh the Goddess of Earth every winter? I think it’s a pretty startling idea, so it kind of bothers me that nobody seems to react to it.

A: Commoners first hear the bible stories during their baptism when they’re seven years old. They can barely comprehend what’s being said to them and so they largely ignore it. Most everyone, Lutz included, are simply thinking: “This is taking forever. I hope they stop talking soon.” As for nobles, so many noble euphemisms are used that they, too, struggle to understand the story at a young age. It isn’t until they properly start learning things in the Royal Academy that they truly grasp what happens, by which point they’ve already mastered the art of the poker face. So regardless of their feelings on it, they don’t let them show on the outside.
