how does someone who knows little-to-nothing about it get into sanders sides? i saw thomas' vines, and i've been sort of tangentially aware that the facets of his personality that he portrayed in the vines have since become characters, but there's a whole bunch of new ones??? what the fuck is a janus???? HELP. tldr where do i find The Lore? plz obi wan ur my only hope

it’s very simple!!! you hyperfixate on thomas sanders’s content in, like, 2016? and then he uploads a video called ‘my true identity’, which is a bit weird, but you love those vine characters. then he uploads more, and it becomes a trend. apparently people in the comments are shipping the prince guy and anxiety. you rewatch the new year’s video an embarrassing amount of times with your dog

i had a whole paragraph here about why i like the series, and why i dropped it and then picked it up again, but it was just a block of lowercase text and i guess it’s kind of hard to read

anyway, here’s the playlist of every episode, but i’m going to put a summary of the series and individual episodes under the readmore, while also ranking them, because i am Special Interesting and i like being useful. and i guess i’m gonna write using. like. actual grammar. if the readmore doesn’t work, then. have fun reading my infodump

Sanders Sides: A Summary

Fictional Version Of Thomas Sanders (known as Character!Thomas, and will be simply referred to as ‘Thomas’ henceforth) has ‘Sides’, which are parts of his personality that have been exaggerated and personified. It’s a nice little series set in some kind of semi-urban fantasy world, but mostly in Thomas’s living room. It mostly uses the idea of ‘Sides’ to represent the inner schemata of an individual. In simpler terms, you know when you’re conflicted, and you end up arguing with yourself? Yeah, it’s that.

Also, don’t read the comments, unless you want to disregard the care I’ve taken to not put spoilers in the Season 1 Summaries.

Season 1

I’d like to split this into parts, because there are a lot of things in earlier episodes that conflict with later characterisation. However, it’s also fun to watch them, and then rewatch them after some of the longer episodes, and feel your heart shatter!

This half of Season 1 was made solely by Thomas. It tends to be a bit more scattered, and can be watched out of chronological order, or completely skipped. Yes, I’m telling you that you can skip literally all of this section, if you want to. However, these are also the easiest videos to watch, and offer a taste of Silly Sanders Sides Hijinks without the emotional commitment.

My True Identity (6 min) - Thomas delves into the three aspects of his personality; his Logic (Teacher Guy), his Creativity (the Prince, also called Princey), and his Morality (Dad Guy who is Not Thomas’s Dad). At this point, the characters are far more similar to their Vine counterparts, and the characterisation clashes with later episodes. (3/5 - A nice way to see if you’ll enjoy the humour of this series)

Way Too Adult (5 min) - Thomas is asked by his family to help cook Thanksgiving dinner. Dad Guy pops up and discusses with Thomas how he can better learn to take care of himself. Features a talking stove, which is part of the reason why I classify this series as urban fantasy, and the start of a running joke. (2/5 - A fun, albeit rare, look into Dad Guy being responsible. I actually prefer this to My True Identity, but ranks lower due to conflicting with later S1 characterisation.)

Taking On Anxiety with Lilly Singh (6 min) - Thomas hopes and dreams to get rid of his Anxiety, who is a sassy, snide guy, sitting on the staircase. Princey, as the embodiment of Thomas’s hopes and dreams, is... Usurped by an imaginary version of Lilly Singh, who helps teach Thomas how to cope with feeling anxious. (3/5 - Introduces some secret tools that will help us later. The tools are Thomas being able to travel to various places in his head, and also Anxiety.)

A New Year of Lying to Myself... In Song!! (7 min) - The first video wherein you realise that this is A Thing. Thomas welcomes in the new year, hoping that 2017 will be better than 2016. Logic shows up to help him figure out some New Year’s Resolutions, accompanied by Dad Guy and Princey. Anxiety joins in to point out that Thomas has rarely, if ever, kept to his resolutions before. Through the first musical number of the series, the Core Sides and Thomas figure out simple, achievable resolutions that Thomas can use to improve his wellbeing. (4/5 - Unintentional foreshadowing in the form of a bop.)

The Dark Side of Disney (6 min) - Princey, not for the last time, enthuses about the wonders of Disney. However, Anxiety also appears, insisting that Disney is not as wholesome as it first appears. They argue and bond, despite the fact that Thomas still hasn’t redacted his statement regarding his hopes and dreams to get rid of his Anxiety. (2/5 - I have strong feelings on the meaning of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’, both of which are shrugged off in favour of the tryhard-edgy ‘blegh stockholm syndrome’ and ‘blegh change yourself to get your man’. Still, it’s a fan-favourite for a reason, and the endcard always makes me smile.)

I’m in a Disney Show!! (6 min) - Princey enthuses about the wonders of Disney, because Thomas is in a Disney show. He talks about what happened, while the Sides (mostly Logic) suggest clickbait titles in order to entice people to watch the video. (2/5 - L*gan P*ul is mentioned, as he was also in the episode.)

The Mind vs. The Heart (6 min) - Thomas finds himself split between following his mind, Logic, or his heart, Morality. Features onesies, and looks further into the characters of Logic and Dad Guy. (3/5 - Pretty calm and peaceful, to be honest. It’s nice.)

Then we move onto the second part of Season 1. This is when Thomas’s friend, Joan, began to offer their input into scriptwriting and directing. They’re most of the reason why Sanders Sides is an actual series, instead of being silly skit characters in short vlogs. From here on in, episodes become more complex, and work on an actual timeline.

Alone on Valentines Day (9 min) - Thomas is rather upset that he will be, as the title says, alone on Valentine’s Day. The Sides try to help him figure out how to get a date with an imaginary version of his friend Valerie, but each of them has a weirder way of going about it than the last. (4/5 - Far more cohesive than previous videos, but Thomas still wasn’t fully out as gay, so his hypothetical date is a woman. Yes, I took points off because of that. Yes, I’m about to erase the 3/5 to make it 4/5 because Valerie is a delight.)

Losing My Motivation (9 min) - When Thomas finds himself procrastinating, Logic takes it upon himself to find out which side is causing it. In order to get into a deductive mindset, Logic dresses up as Sherlock, while Dad Guy joins in as Watson. Once the case is solved, an important piece of information is revealed: the Sides have names. (Logic’s name is revealed) (3/5 - It’s just a fun little video, and I can’t keep giving every video from here on in 4/5, or that’ll ruin the whole thingy.)

Sanders Sides Q&A (9 min) - Exactly what it sounds like. There’s not much else to say. (2/5 - I love it, but it’s not really necessary to understand the whole series. It’s just extra characterisation.)

Am I Original? (12 min) - Thomas finds himself in a creative rut, trying to think of a completely original idea. Princey requests full creative control - “full-on Daydream Mode” - in order to rapidly consider and enact many different concepts, all while trying to make something that has never been seen before. (Princey’s name is revealed) (4/5 - Important characterisation for Princey. I originally rated it lower due to Thomas’s inability to rap, but upon rewatching, i found that the ending dialogue between Princey and Thomas was worth two points, rather than the single one I gave it previously.)

My Negative Thinking (13 min) - When Thomas messes up in an audition, his ego - Princey - is out of commission and being cared for by Dad Guy. Therefore, the only Sides available to aid him in this situation are Logic and Anxiety, neither of whom can help Thomas in the way he wants to. Anxiety is worsening Thomas’s mental state, so Logan proposes a debate in order to combat those cognitive distortions. (4/5 - A fan-favourite episode which offers a lot of insight into Logic and Anxiety as characters. It is useful as a tool for identifying cognitive distortions in real life, which may help with the individual’s mental health. Even though it introduces another running joke, it’s educational and fun, and it develops their relationship in a positive manner, I just don’t particularly enjoy it.)

Growing Up (15 min) - It’s Thomas’s birthday! He’s in his late twenties, and he’s still a kid at heart. He hasn’t done his laundry, he's silly and immature, and he feels like he isn’t at the point that he needs to be in his life. Therefore, all the Sides, except for Dad Guy, who ironically embodies Thomas’s inner child, work on trying to make him more mature. (Morality’s name is revealed) (3/5 - Features the concept of Voltron Shirt. I love this episode, but there is a noticeable change in audio quality at the end which affects how enjoyable it is.)

Making Some Changes (15 min) - Back in Thomas’s living room, and in opposition to his view from the last episode, Anxiety is worried about how life changes in unpredictable ways, and especially about losing contact with Thomas’s friends. Therefore, in order to keep Thomas’s friends permanently by his side, Princey gets them all to shapeshift. (3/5 - It might be skippable, but it’s just really, really fun.)

Becoming A Cartoon (10 min) - Adding to the whole urban fantasy thing, it turns out that animators can literally, physically turn people into cartoons. Thomas wants to be a cartoon. Princey catches Anxiety in his arms and says “everybody loves the villain,” and I think that’s all you need to know. (1/5 - Co-stars B*tch H*rtman, known for Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, and Being A Bigot, who did the character designs for the Sides, if not the actual animation. And the designs are kind of. Eh. Just watch some fanmade animatics.)

Accepting Anxiety (23 min) - Part 1: Excepting Anxiety (10 min), and Part 2: Can Anxiety Be Good? (14 min) - HOO. If the musical number or the animation didn’t clue you in, this video confirms that Sanders Sides is A Thing. Remember how Thomas hoped and dreamt to get rid of his Anxiety? Remember how he never redacted that statement, or even expressed a bit of remorse? Well, here, his wishes come true, and he doesn’t feel bad about it at all! That’s because he has absolutely no shame, caution, or fear of death. Yeah, he’s a mess. Therefore, the Sides make him take them on a magical quest to Anxiety’s Room, in order to un-mess-ify Thomas. (Anxiety’s name is revealed) (5/5 - The team really went above and beyond with this one. Like. Hoo. That’s it. Just. Hoo. Hoo. I’m an owl.)

And that’s Season 1!!! I’m going to add Season 2 in a reblog, because this has taken roughly three hours and it’s been really difficult to not spoil their names!!! which i did anyway because their names are all easier to type from muscle memory!!!

DUBAI: Three-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings will be forced into major changes after a humiliating defeat to their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, their veteran captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said. Dhoni’s team suffered a crushing 10-wicket loss in Friday’s clash that is widely considered Indian cricket’s El Clasico drawing a huge TV audience. IPL 2020 POINTS TABLE Mumbai and Chennai, both huge spenders on international stars, are now at opposite ends of the eight team table. Mumbai are strong candidates for a fifth title while Dhoni’s side are virtually certain to miss the playoffs. And he admitted after an eighth defeat in 11 games that this “hurt”. Chennai could manage only 114 for nine, a total four-time champions Mumbai chased down in 12.2 overs without losing a wicket.

“Whenever you’re not doing well, there can be a hundred reasons, but one of the main things you ask yourself is whether you’ve played to the potential you’ve got, no matter the conditions,” Dhoni said. “And this year we haven’t. Cumulatively there have been batting failures.” Chennai have been dubbed “Dad’s Army” by the media because of their use of over-35 players including Dhoni, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis. That will now change. Dhoni, 39, who retired from international cricket in August, said young players will be blooded for the remaining three games. “I think it’s important for us to have a clear picture of next year. There are lots of ifs and buts — the auction, where the venues will be. The coming three games will be an ideal opportunity to give platforms,” said Dhoni. “See some of the youngsters in preparation for next year, see who will bat and who bowls at the death and soaks the pressure. A few more who are on the bench will get games in the coming three games.”

Watson was dropped for the Mumbai game but South African Imran Tahir, 41, played his first match of the season. “We had a problem of balance all the way through” with the spin bowling “ineffective”, said coach Stephen Fleming explaining the introduction of the IPL’s oldest player. “We have got to find a way to win the next three games and give guys opportunities to press case for retention next year or for opportunities for other teams.”

Chennai “are looking like an ageing boxer in the ring against younger fighters who are throwing more punches than he can handle,” veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote on Twitter. “In my opinion, the break from the World Cup in 2019 to this IPL allowed some rustiness to creep in,” former India captain Kris Srikkanth wrote in The Times of India newspaper, calling for the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman to go back to his traditional “fearless and attacking” tactics.

So I've been roleplaying with this person for a while and like I’m hecka into it. Their character has Aspergers and witnessed a crime that mines committed. But I didn't really understand what Aspergers was so I looked up it that way I could better understand it.

Still though, I wasn't really getting it to then I cracked my knuckles and decided to do a bit more extensive research into the subject. So first I look up mainstream characters. Then I went see how they acted. Then I got a complete list of like every character with it from Wikipedia.

Anyways so I'm looking I'm looking when I see it. The name. Their characters name on the list. Turns out it’s a movie character. So then I’m like ????? And go deeper into the rabbit hole.

Then lo and behold the name they used for the "ex-boyfriend" Is a character from another like indie film festival movie. Even the bad guy in our RP is from this film. For about 5>days I Have been Rping someone's intricate crossfanfiction thingie.I’m in too deep, now I want to go see the movies but I was like ???? why would this person just not be upfront about the established characters?

AND BROOO this goes soo much deeper than I knew. So it turns out that the actors behind the characters went on to play in the television show "Hannibal”, what I'm thinking this is like cross shipping based on the two actors. Remeber like how people shiped Sherlock Holmes/John Watson ... Kahn Singh/Arthur Dent... AndvSmaug/Bilbo Baggins. All based on the fact that they're played by Benedict Cumberbatch and martin freeman.

Actually the more I get into this the more interesting it is. seeing all the characters I've fallen in love with and associated with being “closer to Asperger’s and autistics than narcissists and sociopaths” Is really interesting, does it say something about me? Probably not. but still like There were so many that have been hinted at or flat out said they have it- but on one of this lists was Kanye West- and like that's not cool for a "journalist" to just label him like that. Anyways I went to watch the movie and little details from the Rp, little odd quirks from the Rp, are making sense. All the space stuff, the mac, and cheese. and like I'm sort of just astonished. I need to finish the second movie. but like it was a ride

NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) off-spinner Harbhajan Singh became the third Indian to claim 150 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The bowler achieved the feat in the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals at Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Speaking after the innings, Harbhajan said, "This is a different format from the ones I have played in the past, and I have 150 odd wickets in this format, which is very satisfying. I’m competing with the young guys and going along just the way I have always gone about my bowling. This year I have got a lot of wickets, mainly because we played in Chennai which suited spinners a bit more." Delhi's Amit Mishra and Kolkata Knight Riders' Piyush Chawla are the other two Indians who have taken 150 wickets in the IPL. Mishra has taken 157 wickets from 147 matches whereas Chawla has taken 150 wickets in 157 matches. Singh had 148 wickets before the match against Delhi, but the bowler picked up wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Shrefane Rutherford to reach the feat of 150 wickets. Chennai Super Kings reached the finals of the IPL as they defeated Delhi Capitals by six wickets on Friday. Chasing the score of 148, Chennai were provided with a solid base from both openers Faf Du Plessis and Shane Watson. Both the batsmen recorded 50 plus scores to ease the chase for the team. REVIEW: LUKE SITAL-SINGH LIVE AT THE TUNNELS; APRIL 12, 2019

Photo Credits: Andrew Watson The Tunnels is one of the key venues in Aberdeen to put on and promote young, local bands. Last night, the underground cavernous venue in more or less the Aberdeen City centre hosted an artist of sizeable footprint upon the music industry.

To put it another way, his lead single, “Killing Me”, from sophomore album, Time Is A Riddle, has had 10,000,000 plays on Spotify. Not only that, his combined streams since 2015 are at almost 120,000,000. The weather was not bad for April, encouraging a reasonable turnout. There were three acts to pin your ears back for. Headliner, Luke Sital-Singh, with Mike Baillie and Arron Smith in supporting slots.

Kicking off this gig was Aaron Smith, an acoustic Scottish singer songwriter. A good way to kick off proceedings and get punters in the mood for the night ahead. He’s toured a lot, he’s a strong performer for the opening act, which was testament to the strength of the other two. He was earnest and gutsy; with light and airy highs, too. “D’you guys want to come up front, or not,” he teased a typically reticent Aberdeen crowd. Those said impossible highs were becoming a hallmark throughout his set. Down the other end were mighty bellows of power. This matched with despondent strum, one particular song then soared as if to take flight.

Main support was Edinburgh’s self-ascribed songwriter, dreamcatcher and musician, Mike Baillie. The brains behind band, The Lonely Together, was, in this instance, striking out on his own. Said band are described in a way perhaps apt in regards to himself, that of an alternative dreampop band from Scotland, “…carving a mysterious path through love and sadness, hope and anger, beauty and pain.” Once again, the crowd needed some polite prodding. “…really delighted you’ve got those bench seats but, come on, it’s Friday.” The opening track sedate, now emphatic of strum. The amplified guitar stark in its contrast to the opening acoustic act. Really taking by surprise, singing quite light and melodic. Next, spaced out, atmospheric guitar. Ambient met with, “I’ve found comfort in you.” Track, “Congregation”, followed. “…decency and honesty don’t mean sh*t in this town.” Did he also namecheck Aberdeen subsequently, piquing the crowd’s interest? Anyway, “If only everybody said what they’re feeling inside, to the congregation.” During a brief quiet after said track, laughter was heard at the back of the venue, beside the bar and immediately behind the dancefloor. “That was a good snort. Proud of you,” he joshed gently. “Please say goodnight” was the subsequent track’s ending refrain. A rarely played track, “Feel Real Love”, was impassioned with lines like, “If anyone hurts you, tell me”. Really lost in the moment. “Cycle Of Sadness” was impassioned and grave. “I’ve been charged with warming you up. This airplane hanger is very cold tonight,” Mike said of The Tunnels. Then followed an attempt at some crowd participation. Sing louder. A good attempt at that, they got quite vocal, though initially shy.

Headline act, Luke Sital-Singh, was born in west London, studied in Brighton and’s currently based in Bristol and set to relocate to Los Angeles this year. He signed to Parlophone Records, who released his debut album, The Fire Inside in 2014. In 2017 came his critically acclaimed sophomore record, Time Is A Riddle. Two Fridays ago (April 5) saw the third album, A Golden State, released by the singer songwriter. Luke explains the general mood of his music, saying, “I like writing about the heavy things. There’s a lot of shallow stuff out there and that’s fine for a certain context. My fun is diving as deep as I can. Inside myself and, if I can, inside others and writing songs that are as honest as I can make them. Then the vocal soared, mighty. A Golden State song, “”Raise Well”, dealt with the monumental implication of having children. Lines like, “Imagine his tiny hands” really revealed the prospects of having kids. Then there was the touching, “I don’t want to raise hell/I just want to raise well.” “You’re very quiet,” he said to those out front, no danger of rude interruption. “That’s good, I like it.” As said, he’s in the process of moving to “Los Angeles”. This also off latest album, A Golden State. He revealed what appeared to be one of the stage props cost him £45 from a garden centre, with one of the crowd quipping, “Claim it on expenses.” This transatlantic track was wistful, moody and introspective. His fingers outstretched in a massive show of dexterity. “Time Is A Riddle” was the tragic building into rousing. Then into “Nearly Morning”. “This is a song from my first album that I still like.” The track sombre, some couples out front swaying gently. Clanging keys built the volume; then paring down, again. “When I touch the strings I must complete the circuit,” he mused, regarding the old style almost moth catcher lights he’d had hung behind him, causing some feedback and laughter from a humoured audience. His chords grew bold, them ending as delicately as anything. After this, “21st Century Heartbeat” was ponderous growing rousing. The fingerpicking reflective of all this. Vocal refrain ending both touching and powerful. The piano was suitably funereal in the aforementioned “Killing Me”, the vocal reflecting the sentimental, to some degree, permeating. This set against the slightly jarring line, “You won’t believe/The wonders I can see”. This sung in the voice of his grandmother, addressing his grandfather who died ten years ago.

Another track off A Golden State, “The Last Day”, had Luke commenting, “You look as depressed as you should be.” During this a natural pause in his playing, whether reacting to the crowd or something else, human and organic. This track imagining his own death, maybe the pause perhaps his soul’s exit from this mortal plane. “Nothing Stays The Same” contemplative picking, alongside that warm, husky voice. Vocal refrain inspired before assured strum matched venom of conviction. Biggest cheer of the night. “This is the last song, there’s other f*cking songs after.” So went the preamble to “Hearts Attach”, from A Golden State. A gospel sort of grandness to this one. The deceptive title of “Fail For You” crashed and burned in its melancholy. Or, rather, striving to do anything but with, “I will be/Your victory”. This meant with whistling and hollering. Second encore, and closer, came in the shape “Benediction”. “I’ve got my little shop. I’ll been flogging sh*te to you,” he said of his merchandise set up at the back of the room, beside the door. Anyway, this had an endearing vocal, not perfect but purging in its unabashed authentic purity. That final, sustained note floating into the ethereal realm.
