Received some bad family news this morning so after a bit of a teary-eyed mope I went onto my favourite baby store website (little French heart) and added everything I want for my son’s room to my cart ✨🐇🐻🍄🍂

AURORA’S BATTLE-READY DREAMY POP IS POISED TO CHANGE THE WORLD
Tumblr media
Interview by Rachel Morris for nite life online (November 1st, 2019). Growing up in relative isolation in the woodlands of Os, Norway; singer and producer Aurora Aksnes weaves an ethereal yet battle-ready brand of dreamy pop music that is connecting with a growing fanbase across the globe.
If on the surface her subject matter conjures Nordic fairytale-style images of wolves, moonlight and flowing rivers; it’s her surprising juxtaposition of emotional vulnerability and warrior-like resolution that has resonated with a world, at least in part, concerned with mindfulness, social and environmental responsibility – and ready to change for the better.
A WORLD, AT LEAST IN PART, CONCERNED WITH MINDFULNESS, SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY – AND READY TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER
Aurora’s latest project comes in two parts or, more tellingly, steps. Aurora doesn’t shy away from a singular message. Rather than leaving her work open to interpretation, Aurora is happy to say that her music is instructive.
2018’s Infections of a Different Kind – Step 1 and summer’s A Different Kind of Human – Step 2 are ‘two parts of one emotional process’ Aurora explains. ‘They’re related, but they’re different steps on the way – different steps that you have to take to end up where I want you to end up emotionally.
STEP 1 IS WAY MORE INDIVIDUAL AND PERSONAL, WHILE STEP 2 IS MORE POLITICAL
‘Step 1 is way more individual and personal, while Step 2 is more political and it’s more about looking around you and seeing what you can offer the world. You have to see what you can offer yourself first and become a warrior for yourself, and then you should become a warrior for the world and for everyone that needs you out there.
BECOME A WARRIOR FOR YOURSELF, AND THEN YOU SHOULD BECOME A WARRIOR FOR THE WORLD
‘Step 1 was kind of a gift from me to the fans I already had. I wanted to release it as a surprise, so that my fans would be the first ones to hear it, rather than reading reviews in the papers. And then Step 2 has fuelled my fans in a really, really fun way. I can see them all. I feel like all of my fans are such kind and wonderful people, and many of them share in common with me how it feels to be an underdog. So it becomes a very instinctive thing to fight for anything else that is an underdog in this world.
WE’RE ALL A PART OF THAT CHANGE, BECAUSE IT’S OBVIOUSLY UP TO THE INDIVIDUALS NOW
‘A Different Kind of Human – Step 2 is about standing up for everything we love and believe in. So it’s been really fun to see them grow more passionate about the situations and the world that we would all like to change. We’re all a part of that change, because it’s obviously up to the individuals now.’
While most of us find inspiration in musical or artistic reference points from what has come before, Aurora finds a muse in herself and in nature. To such point, in fact, that she doesn’t like listening to music, which becomes like a noisy distraction from the music that’s innately in her head.
‘I just don’t need music in that way right now in my life. When I grew up, we didn’t have MTV, we didn’t have radio in my house, I didn’t really have any natural way of discovering new music.
‘I have so much music in my head all the time –  every second of every day, I’m always making an album. The second I released Step 2, I started on my next one, even though it was midnight. I’m always in the process of making a new baby and then I find it really distracting to listen to music. It almost becomes noisy, even though it’s beautiful.
I FIND IT REALLY DISTRACTING TO LISTEN TO MUSIC. IT ALMOST BECOMES NOISY, EVEN THOUGH IT’S BEAUTIFUL
‘I listen to Enya, because she’s very reliable, she gives my brain calmness. I listen to her when I’m on an airplane, because they’re noisy, I like to replace the airplane or airport noise with music. So I like to listen to Enya – and heavy metal’ she adds.
Shut off from outside influence, firstly by circumstance and now by choice, if a modern day artist was ever born to music, surely it’s Aurora. Since childhood, music has been a very natural way for her to translate emotion.
‘I never wanted to be famous, I didn’t want to do anything with the music, I just really enjoyed writing and making music. It was something I knew from a very young age. It made me feel very powerful and in control – and also without control.
I THINK I WOULD BECOME SICK WITHOUT MUSIC
‘It makes me feel like I know why I’m here. It feels like now pain has a purpose and happiness has a purpose, when I can write about it and make it into sound. Music gives everything I experience and everything I see purpose, so I don’t know what I would do without it. I think I would become sick without music. I don’t think I would have a good time on this planet.’
Despite its Nordic complexity, mysticism and themes, Aurora’s music has reached all corners of the globe, touring throughout UK, Europe, US, South America and Asia just in 2019. While on one hand, she can’t understand this level of success – ‘it’s so strange’ – in the same breath, Aurora solves her own riddle: nature taught her to be a philosopher.
EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN MORE TO NATURE
‘I think everyone should listen more to nature, because once you’re out there, nothing else really matters. How you look or what you’re doing tomorrow, the things you didn’t manage to complete, or the things you feel like you’re not doing well enough, or the clothes you’re wearing.
‘I solve most things in life by just thinking until I have a solution. I was in the woods for at least nine hours every day my whole childhood, it’s just fascinating and it gives you perspective. You realise how small the stupid problems are and you realise how beauty is free. And that you’re smaller than the big trees and you’re bigger than the tiny bugs and it just lets you exist.
NATURE IS THE ONE PLACE I’VE DISCOVERED (…) THAT GIVES ME THE CHANCE TO BE NOTHING MORE THAN A BEATING HEART AND A BRAIN
‘I think this world is very demanding of us and we as people are very demanding of ourselves. It’s hard to be a human these days and nature is the one place I’ve discovered, so far at least, that gives me the chance to be nothing more than a beating heart and a brain.’
The power of nature is also something Aurora can invert to encourage self-reflection, recording the whole of A Different Kind of Human – Step 2 in a small, dark room.
‘A Different Kind of Human is a more political album. I felt like I had to reach more within myself and figure out where I stand and figure out my own opinions,’ Aurora explains. ‘That’s why I wanted to be in a small, dark room, because there’s no big field for your energy or your thoughts – they just hit the wall and then come back to you like a bouncing ball.
I HAD TO REACH MORE WITHIN MYSELF AND FIGURE OUT WHERE I STAND AND FIGURE OUT MY OWN OPINIONS
‘With every album, it’s very important for me to make them in different spaces so they don’t touch. For my next album, that I’m making now, I’m writing the skeletons of my songs and the soul of them wherever I go. But when I sit down and actually produce them and make the album into one whole baby, then I’ll have to go somewhere else. I know where I’m going, I’m not going to say yet, but it’s going to be a very different place again from every other place I’ve made an album before.’
As an artist that evidently pours so much of herself into her music, you’d imagine that making an album is an exhausting and somewhat draining process, but for the born music maker, it’s quite the opposite. Though Aurora had hinted at a possible 2020 follow up after Step 1 was released, Step 2 hit shelves less than half way through 2019. It’s also the first record that Aurora has co-produced every track, having dipped her toe in with two tracks on Step 1.
‘I find very energising. When I’m in the studio, I’m there for at least twelve hours every time – until late, late night. There is no deadline and there is no finish line when you create. The possibilities are endless,  especially now I’ve learned to become a producer.
THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS,  ESPECIALLY NOW I’VE LEARNED TO BECOME A PRODUCER
‘I find producing extremely fun and extremely important too. I know in this world, many women have struggled with being able to be given space to produce their own songs and music. So I find it really important to step up for myself and my music. I would love one day to teach more female artists how to begin.’
It’s hard not to feel empowered both listening to and talking to Aurora, who so beautifully presents the idea that a better you and a better world is within grasp. As she says, it’s down to the individuals – and those that inspire them. She opens her the two-step project: ‘I will be your warrior’, and this is no doubt just the beginning of Aurora’s Queendom.

Roman Holiday
Hey everyone! I recently watched Audrey Hepburn’s Roman Holiday with my mom and I was inspired to do a little spin off! I haven’t written in forever so I’m a little rusty but I hope you all like it and as always requests are open and I would love some Christmas themed ones!
-Lera
Y/N was the princess of Calormen, and she was reminded every day. It was a good life to lead, she was beautiful, adored by all, wore beautiful clothes and went to extravagant parties, but it wasn’t enough, it would never be enough. Y/N reflected on this as she lay in the canopy bed that she was sleeping in while she stayed in Narnia. Her father had sent her here for a few weeks so that she could work on trade relations and become more familiar with Narnian customs and their Kings and Queens. All she was ever allowed to do was be perfectly friendly, perfectly beautiful, perfectly accommodating, perfect everything. She had never once had a day to herself in her whole life. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It must have been Mrs. Sakari, her caretaker.
“You may enter.” Y/N said clearly. Sure enough Mrs. Sakari slipped through the doorway holding her trusty planner.
“Good morning Princess Y/N, I hope that you slept well.” “Well enough as expected in a strange bed.” Y/N answered with a yawn.
“Well I’m sure you’re ready for the day because you have a long one. Their Royal Highnesses are anxious to meet you since we arrived too late to dine with them last evening so in thirty minutes you’ll be having breakfast in the great hall with them. Then at 9:30 you’ll be given a tour of the palace and at 10 o’clock you will have a meeting with High King Peter to discuss the trade relations between our countries, I’m sure you’ll remember to be polite and gracious to him.
“Yes Mrs. Sakari.” Y/N answered obediently as she took notice of the clear blue sky outside her window. She could hear laughter outside, she wanted to know why they were laughing so happily and wished with all her heart that she would feel happiness like that.
“Princess, are you listening to me? At 11 you will be presented with a horse and you-” “Must I do all this today?” Y/N cut in. “It’s so beautiful outside it would be a waste to spend it indoors discussing trade.”“Your Highness, you have responsibilities, your father-” “Oh what does it matter if I spend one day without worrying about Calormen? Besides this High King Peter sounds like a terrible bore, especially if he insists on being called that.”
“Your Highness, now don’t be difficult. I’m going to fetch you a hot cup of tea which should lift your spirits and bring you to your senses. Why don’t you put on your navy gown while I’m gone, it’s very sensible.”
“Yes Mrs. Sakari, I’m sure a cup of tea will help me feel better. Could I please have peppermint? It’s my favorite.” Mrs. Sakari laughed as she neared the door.
“Your Highness peppermint always puts you to sleep, I’ll bring you black tea so that you have enough energy for the day.” As she closed the door behind her Y/N gracefully stepped out of bed. She was sick of being told what to do, what to wear and how to act.
“I will certainly not wear my navy dress as it it terribly dull.” She said to herself as she opened up her wardrobe that the servants had hung her gowns in. “Hmmm that won’t do, too fancy, too boring too, ahh perfect!” She said as she pulled a silvery gown that resembled moonlight. The gown was beautiful with a sweeping graceful skirt and wide bell sleeves. “Yes this will do.” She smiled as she quickly slipped off her white lace nightgown and pulled on the gown. She then stepped into a pair of dainty slippers, took a moment to fix her beautiful h/c hair and ran to the window. Whoever had been laughing before had gone. Y/N thought to herself for a moment how she was going to do this. Below her window about 6 feet was a balcony and below that a garden. Taking a deep breath she steeled herself for what she was about to do. In a moment of bravery the princess stepped up onto the window sill, took a deep breath, and jumped. She did not land as gracefully as she expected, she was in a position she had never been in before, sprawled out on the floor with her bare legs exposed. She quickly looked herself over, making sure she hadn’t been injured before standing up and looking at the next jump she would have to make. It looked a little farther than the first which scared Y/N a little bit. But when she began to hear voices down the hall she realized that it was now or never. “Alright Y/N you can do this.” She told herself as the voices got nearer. She climbed up on the railing and just in the nick of time jumped over before a pair her servants from Calormen walked by where she had just been standing seconds before.
Below on the grass Y/N took a deep breath. Slowly she stood taking in her surroundings. She was outside of the palace and in the daytime it was quite beautiful. White marble with turrets that glittered in the sunlight and reflected blue from the ocean below, it looked something out of the fairytales Y/N read about as a little girl. Shaking those thoughts away she decided to go into the forest. She always loved nature but she was rarely allowed to explore and play so this was the perfect opportunity.
Soon the young princess found herself surrounded by pine trees that towered above her and swayed in the wind. Of course she had heard the stories of the magical trees in Narnia that could talk but her father said that was all nonsense. But as Y/N stood surrounded in natural beauty she felt as if she could almost hear voices just beyond her reach, but the harder she tried to listen to them the quieter they became. Y/N happened upon a small stream just as she began to feel a bit thirsty.
“If only I’d thought to bring some food along.” She said to herself before drinking from the stream. The water was clear and ice cold and it woke her up, refreshing her spirit. However her solitude was interrupted by a young man’s voice.
“I haven’t seen you here before miss.” Y/N immediately jumped up, spilling water on herself in the process as he got off his horse.
“I, ah” She stuttered before remembering the tales of forest and water spirits that walked the Narnian forests. “I’m a spirit of these woods, most people can’t see me.” She spoke quickly with a small smile when she noticed how handsome the stranger was. He was tall with thick dark hair that perfectly framed his equally dark eyes. He grinned at her response.
“So you’re a woodland spirit yes?” He asked raising an eyebrow. Y/N stood up straighter.
“I am.” She answered him with confidence knowing she had to stick with her lie.
“Well then it’s a pleasure to meet you, my name’s Edmund.” He took her hand and gently brushed his lips across her knuckles all while looking into her eyes. Y/N had to keep herself from gasping. She had been kissed on the hand many times before but never had it felt so, intimate. All she wanted was to know more about this man. “Is this something you do often my lady?” He asked her with a smirk.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” “Well just that you’re deep in the woods all alone, I can’t help but be a little worried.”
“Well…” Y/N started, “This is actually my first time in these woods.” She admitted. “And probably my last.” “Your last? What do you mean?” he asked her with caring eyes.
“Well, it’s just that…” Y/N thought carefully about her next few words, she didn’t want Edmund to know that she was a princess in case he treated her differently or worse, took her back to Cair Paravel. “I’m visiting from a long ways away and I won’t have another chance to see the landscape here. So you see I must explore.” He grinned at her brightly.
“Well if you’re looking to explore, I know these forests very well and I would be honored if you would allow me to be your guide.” He offered his hand. Y/N paused for a moment before deciding that she could trust him, there was just something about him but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Trusting that he was safe she took his hand.
“I would like nothing more Edmund.” He led her back to his horse and gently helped her up. Although Y/N had ridden horses many times and did not need the help, she was more than happy to feel his strong arm around her waist. When they were both seated and she had her arms firmly around him he clicked his tongue and the horse began cantering.
“Well my lady, where would you like to go?” He asked her.
“You know the area well you said?” She asked him again.
“Better than I know myself.” “Then take me to your favorite place!” She grinned against his back.
“You heard her Phillip!” Edmund told the horse.
“To the beach then Your M-” Edmund kicked him the side. “Edmund.” Philip corrected as he began galloping in a different direction.
“Did you just talk?” Y/N asked with amazement in her voice.
“That I did miss.” He told her gruffly. She quickly shook off her surprise.
“Well it’s so very good to meet you Philip. And thank you for being my guide as well.” She gently put a hand on his smooth flank.
“The pleasure is all mine miss.” The ride went by quickly, Philip was so fast that the trees seemed to fly by them and soon the glittering Eastern Sea came into view. The trio stopped beside a cliff and Edmund dismounted and helped Y/N back onto her feet.
“Philip can’t make it down to this beach so it’ll just be us.” Edmund told her as he led her to the edge of the cliff, which turned out to not be a cliff, but instead a narrow winding staircase that led to the sand below.
“That looks quite dangerous Edmund.” Y/N told him as she looked down the steep staircase that they would soon be descending.
“Don’t worry my lady, I won’t let you fall.” He told her confidently.
“Oh I’m not afraid! I’m excited.” She smiled at Edmund as she took the first step down. “Aren’t you coming?” She asked him from a few steps below. He simply laughed and smiled before following her.
“You are very surprising my lady.” Soon they reached the end of the stairs and Y/N immediately kicked off her slippers and dug her toes into the cool sand. The wind whipped her h/l hair around her face and she smiled as she watched a group of gulls squabble over a crab.
“It’s beautiful Edmund! I see why this is your favorite place.”
“I always feel very at home here.” He told her with a twinkle in his eye. “Like it’s where I’m meant to be and that I’ll be here forever.”
“I wish I had a place like that.” Y/N confided as they strolled towards the crashing waves. “Even when I’m at home it doesn’t really feel like it, I feel like there’s more I’m supposed to do? Am I making sense.”
“Perfect sense.” He answered with a faraway look. “I use to feel the exact same way before I found this place.” “The beach?” Y/N questioned. Edmund shook off his dazed look.
“Yes, the beach of course.” He smiled again. Suddenly Y/N had an idea.
“This will probably sound crazy but do you want to go for a swim?” Y/N asked
“It does sound crazy, the water’s freezing!” He laughed “And wouldn’t you ruin your dress?”
“I have lots of dresses Edmund but I’ve never swam in the ocean in my whole life!” Y/N giggled as she stepped into the surf. She bit back a gasp from the cold and waded in deeper. Looking back at Edmund she motioned for him to join her.
“Oh all right.” He grinned before rolling up his trousers. When Edmund came into contact with the water he didn’t bother holding back his shock. “Aslan that’s freezing!”
“Oh it’s not that bad! It’s quite refreshing really!” Y/N shivered.
“You’re crazy!” Edmund laughed as he joined her in the deeper water. Y/N responded by splashing him. Soon it turned into an all out water fight and before they knew they were both soaked and dragging themselves back onto the sand laughing.“Now that was a really bad idea!” Edmund grinned.
“Fun though!” Y/N responded with a smile.
“Most fun I’ve had in months.” He admitted.
“Most fun I’ve had ever.” Y/N sat down on the sand, her silver gown beyond repair. Edmund sat down next to her and she leaned her head on his shoulder.
The pair sat in silence for a moment as they watched the tide recede. When somehow as if drawn together like magnets the pair looked at each other and slowly leaned in, their lips millimeters apart. The tension was almost unbearable when suddenly Y/N pulled away. She wanted more than anything than to press her lips against his but she couldn't. She was a princess, she had responsibilities. And one day her father was going to marry her off, probably to King Peter or some other king, prince or duke. There was no way she would be allowed to be with Edmund. He was no king, as much as she longed to be with him. Her country had to come first.
“I’m sorry Edmund, I have to go.” She said as she stood up.
“Have I done something wrong?” He asked as he stood. “I’m so sorry, I was being too forward. Let me take you home.”
“It’s all right, you didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just…” She paused for a moment, his warm brown eyes almost breaking her reserve. “I really have to go but please don’t think that you did something wrong.”
“Alright.” He said with a smile that didn’t quite meet his eyes. “Where should I take you?”
“Just back to where we met please.” They rode back through the forest in silence. Soon they reached the stream where Y/N first laid eyes on Edmund. Always the gentleman Edmund helped her dismount.
“Are you sure you want me to leave you here?” He asked with concern in his voice. “It’ll be dark soon I don’t want you to get lost.”
“I’ll be fine Edmund, but thank you for your concern.” Y/N smiled sadly.
“Alright then, only if you’re sure?” He asked again. Her heart swelled at how much he cared.
“I’m sure Edmund.”
“Will we meet again?” He asked taking her hand. “I don’t even know your name.”
“I don’t know if we’ll meet again.” Y/N admitted. “But I will pray that we do.” Leaning up on her tiptoes she kissed him softly on the cheek. She didn’t miss the blush that followed soon after. “Now go, if fate wills it I will see you again.” He solemnly mounted Philip and looked into her eyes a final time. And just as quickly as they’d arrived, they were gone.
Soon Y/N found herself back at Cair Paravel climbing back into her bedroom window where she found Mrs.Sakari waiting with her hands on her hips.
“Your Highness, would you care to explain where you’ve been all day? You missed all your meetings, I had to tell their highnesses that you had fallen ill! I have never been so disappointed in you. And look at your dress! You’ve completely ruined it!” She took a deep breath. “Now I’m going to send in your servants to clean you up and I’m going to tell their Majesties that you’ve made a miraculous recovery. When I return I expect you to look like the proper princess they will want to see, not this irresponsible girl who runs off on a whim.”
“Yes Mrs. Sakari.” Y/N answered sadly as she quickly left the room. It felt like her adventure with Edmund hadn’t even been real as the servants dried her hair and dressed her. Like it had just been a dream.
Queen Susan had requested that if Y/N was feeling well enough she would join them for dinner, so Y/N found herself entering the dining room. She took no notice of the beautiful decorations or the marble pillars surrounding the room but was snapped out of her haze when she made eye contact with a familiar pair of brown eyes. “Edmund!” She said surprised. Suddenly it clicked. “I mean King Edmund the Just.” She corrected as he smiled brightly.
“Just Edmund is fine.” His smile got even bigger. “And you must be Princess Y/N of Calormen. Or should I say woodland spirit?” He asked with a wide grin
“Just Y/N is fine.” She smiled. And in that moment it didn’t matter that his brother and sisters looked so confused, it didn’t matter that Mrs. Sakari looked horrified. All that mattered what that fate had willed them to meet again.

ABCs for the Dwarphen
I’ll answer these for her as she will appear in EoE
A: Aptitude
1. what are your oc’s natural abilities, things they’ve been doing since young?
She’s always been a fairly good runner, and when she first was taken in by Xo, she took her mother’s bow from her home. So she’s been doing that since around four or so.
2. what activities have they participated in?
Professional archery in a sense, helping Xo run their brewery business, and now in her job as a bounty hunter.
3. what abilities do they have that they’ve worked for?
When she was a little kid still travelling with Xo, she had trouble distinguishing which forest berries or plants were safe to eat, and up until her job now she has people watching her telling what to eat and what’s safe. She’s had to learn how to learn recognizes which foods are safe to eat and which ones are poisonous.
4. what things are they bad at?
*Xo voice* Eating any fucking green food. But in all seriousness, she’s bad at keeping track of time. She could think she’s running around town for just three hours until Xo is coming after her in tears because she actually been gone for ten.
5. what is their most impressive talent?
Archery by far. She made a name for herself in her skills years ago, which is how they were able to reunite with Xo.
B: Basics
1. what is their hair color?
Dark brown, very close to black.
2. what is their eye color?
Dark brown.
3. how tall are they?
3′5
4. how old are they?
13
5. how much do they weigh?
130 lbs
C: Comfort
1. how do they sit in a chair?
Criss cross, or with one leg cross over the other.
2. in what position do they sleep?
She’s used to sleeping either straight up and down to conserve space or in fetal position.
3. what is their ideal comfort day?
Dressing in just pajama pants and shorts and falling asleep to the sound of rain while listening to music play. She doesn’t get a ton of those.
4. what is their major comfort food? why?
Chile con Queso. She remembers her birth mom giving it to her when she was a baby and it’s the only thing she has left to connect with her birth family.
5. who is the best at comforting them when down?
Xochitl by far. There’s a lot of thing she has to thank them for, but helping her through her trauma is definitely the biggest. They’ll just hold her and braid her hair and sing to her.
D: Decoration
1. how would they decorate a house if they had one under their name?
First of all, she’d choose to live in a tree house that sprawled across the tree tops, but if she had to live in a normal house, she would still choose one close to nature with lots of house plants and little critters running about.
2. how would they decorate their child’s room?
Listen, Yaretzi is a 13 year old girl. Do you really think she’s not going to want to give her kids the coolest room ever where your room is a treehouse and the floor looks like grass? On top of that she would give all her kids stuffed animals of woodland creatures because she’s that dedicated to theme.
3. how do they decorate their own room?
She just recently got her own room (though she still sleeps in Xo’s bed a lot) but it’s fairly small and has her bed in one corner with a sad attempt at a canopy by Xo, a small shelf that has all of her dolls and book, and small desk that has a little notebook that Xo bought her for her birthday.
4. what type of clothes and accessories do they wear?
At home she wears a similar shirt to Xo (off the shoulder white peasant blouse) and a long flowy skirt, but in the field she wears dark trousers, her blouse, a thick overcoat, and a bandana of some kind to keep her hair out of her face.
5. do they like makeup/nail/beauty trends?
She likes painting her nail, but putting on makeup reminds her of being forced to wear makeup for her slave family.
E: External Personality
1. does the way they do things portray their internal personality?
Pretty much. She’s usually very honest with her personality, which means that you will know firsthand whether she likes you or not.
2. do they do things that conform to the norm?
She did it as a slave to stay safe and not cause waves, but Yaya has a free spirit that doesn’t really care if people think she’s out there.
3. do they follow trends or do their own thing?
She’s like her mom and simply doesn’t give a fuck what others think and does her own thing. She only follows trends if her life’s in danger.
4. are they up-to-date on the internet fads?
Nah, she’s more likely to run outside and play in literal mud than go on the internet, if it existed.
5. do they portray their personality intentionally or let people figure it outon their own?
Usually what you see is what you get, so the personality she displays is how she really is.
F: Fun
1. what do they do for fun?
Run in the woods barefoot and try to climb the tallest tree. But if she is confined to the city, she actually really loves pulling pranks on her family and friends. It helps when your best friend is a bear.
2. what is their ideal party?
Everyone in their pajamas playing charades or Never Have I Ever/Truth or Dare. She is a fan of party games.
3. who would they have the most fun with?
Xo, her Uncle Tarel, and Auntie Ellie.
4. can they have fun while conforming to rules?
Yeah. Most of what she does for fun is legal and it’s only her job that’s technically illegal. She’s more willing to follow rules than Xo is.
5. do they go out a lot?
Out to party, no, but she definitely leaves the house just to wander around the woods.
G: Gorgeous
1. what is their most attractive external feature?
She has the most beautiful curly hair you’ve ever seen. Both she and Xo like brushing it out.
2. what is the most attractive part of their personality?
She has the cutest, innocent laugh and laughs with her entire body just because she’s so openly, honestly her. If she likes you, she will let you know and love you til the end.
3. what benefits come with being their friend?
She is that little sister you always wanted to have and will strive to protect you as long as she lives.
4. what parts of them do they like and dislike?
There’s not really a part of her she dislikes physically, except maybe be a little taller because no one takes her seriously as a 3′0 dwarf.
5. what parts of others do they envy?
She does wish she was a little older like her family because they allowed to do whatever they want without supervision, and although she loves Xochitl more than life itself, she wishes she could go her own path without worrying about giving Xo a heart attack every time she falls from a tree.
H: Heat
1. do they rather a hot or cold room?
Cold. She likes being a blanket burrito and cuddling next to either her mom or a bear.
2. do they prefer summer or winter?
Summer. It’s when more people are out shopping and usually it’s the season where she gets more offers at her job. And since it’s festival season, Xo usually has to pay more attention to their customers than her.
3. do they like the snow?
She didn’t get to experience it a lot since a lot of her childhood was spent down south, but the few times she did experienced it, she loved it. There was once a particularly bad snowstorm in her current town and she and Xo made snowpeople and had a snowball fight. Of course Xo let her win the snowball fight even though against anyone else they are ruthless.
4. do they have a favorite summer activity?
Running in the forest for hours barefoot or climbing trees. She likes feeling tall.
5. do they have a favorite winter activity?
Drinking spiced hot chocolate.
I: In-the-closet
1. what is their sexuality?
Bisexual
2. have they ever questioned their sexuality?
No, she never really thought about it and just thought she’d get a crush when she was ready.
3. have they ever questioned their gender?
No, she’s always been comfortable in her gender.
4. would/was their family be okay with them being LGBT?
Absolutely. Their mom is a nonbinary pansexual dwarf, and honestly there is little she could do that Xo would be mad at her for.
5. how long would/did it take for them to come out?
She didn’t come out in the traditional sense. She asked Xo about who they liked and when they said they liked all kinds of people, Yaretzi nodded and said that she does to. Xo was very accepting of her daughter and her relationships, on the one stipulations that she doesn’t date a fucking bard. Because her experience with Arzan was enough to scar them for life.
J: Joy
1. what makes them happy?
Being in the woods, archery, and listening to her family’s stories.
2. who makes them happy?
Xochitl, Buttons, and her friends at her last job.
3. are there any songs that bring them joy?
If modern music existed, it would be ‘Whatever it Takes’ by Imagine Dragons, and ‘Renegades’ by X Ambassadors.
4. are they happy often?
Yeah, for the most part. She’s a bit saltier than she should be at that age, but she’s not flat out sad.
5. what brings them the most joy in the world?
Archery and being out in the wilderness.
K: Kill
1. have they ever thought about suicide?
Nope, if she did it would have been right after she was kidnapped, but she was too young to think about death.
2. have they ever thought about homicide?
Only in passing, but the thought always left her mind before she could really think about murder.
3. if they could kill anyone without punishment, would they? who?
The slavers who kidnapped her, (she technically did kill her owner without punishment), and anyone who ever upsets her mom.
4. who would miss them if they died?
It has been proven that Xo would be broken beyond repair, and Yaretzi knows that Xo’s friends would probably be sad too.
5. who would be happy they died, anyone?
Honestly, probably the family that she used to serve as a slave under.
L: Lemons
1. what is their favorite fruit?
Blueberries. Once she got sick by eating too many blueberries.
2. what is their least favorite fruit?
Kiwis. They make her mouth hurt.
3. are there any foods they hate?
Pretty much any and all vegetables, especially mushrooms.
4. do they have any food intolerances?
Tree nuts. Which in her line of work, sucks.
5. what is their favorite food?
Chile Con Queso, and pretty much anything spicy.
M: Maternal
1. would they want a daughter or a son?
She’s too young to think about having children, but she wouldn’t mind raising a kid when she’s much, much older, and wouldn’t mind either gender.
2. how many children do they want?
Depending if she had someone to help, max four.
3. would they be a good parent?
Yeah, she’d try her best to find the medium between strict and laidback, kinda like Xo has done (Xo honestly is a great parent, Yaya just can’t be contained).
4. what would they name a son? what would they name a daughter?
She’d definitely name her sons after the two men who helped her most in her life: Teodulo, her father, or Revan, the man that helped her escape slavery (and possibly Tarel). For daughters, she’d name after her mom, Valentina, her little sister, Pacifica, her current mom Xo, or even her Auntie Ellie.
5. would they adopt?
It’s how she was able to find Xo, so absolutely.
N: Never Have I Ever
1. what would they never do?
Actively betray her mom. There was nothing you could offer her that would make her go against Xo.
2. what have they never done that they want to do?
She wants to befriend a panther or another big cat. She’d probably die, but she’d die happy.
3. is there anything they absolutely can’t believe people do?
Keep slaves obviously, and also dislike animals. What’s to hate about animals? They’re perfection in tiny furry bodies.
4. what is the most embarrassing thing they’ve done?
When she was at her first job as a free person, she was riding a horse while standing and trying to shoot at a target, and the horse got spooked and bucked, her, making her dive head first into horse shit. She was seven years old.
5. have they done anything they thought they’d never do?
Kill people.
O: Optimism
1. are they optimistic or pessimistic?
She’s usually optimistic, even if it’s hidden under a snarky tone. Despite the trauma that Yaya’s faced, she finds the future hopeful.
2. are they openly optimistic, throwing it on others?
Nah, she keeps her optimism to herself unless someone asks for it. She’s all for people following their own philosophy.
3. are they good at giving advice?
She tries her best, but she’s 13 and all the people in her life are at least in their late 30s at best and at worst like mid 100s. But because she’s pragmatic, the advice tends to be sound.
4. is there anyone in their life that throws optimism on them?
Probably Auntie Breda. She agreed with Xo when they said that Breda was one of the most optimistic people that Xo had ever met. And she is glad for it, since the rest of Xo’s friends tend to be on the angstier side.
5. were they always optimistic?
Yeah, it’s been her personal philosophy since childhood with her birth parents that there is always something better in the future, so it’s important not to lose hope. While that has helped her look on the bright side of things, it kinda worked backwards because now Yaretzi is never content and that is the biggest reason why she tries to work for something more.
P: Personality
1. what is their best personality trait?
It actually probably would be her youthful attitude and optimism because god knows that Xo isn’t optimistic.
2. what is their worst personality trait?
Brutal honesty. If she doesn’t like you, she will let you know and you will know it in an instant.
3. what of their personality do others love?
Xo loves her endless energy and optimism, and of course her cheekiness and sass.
4. what of their personality do others envy?
Xo envies their daughter’s ability to be honest and love herself completely (though they wouldn’t have it any other way).
5. do they hate anything about their personality/about other’s personalities?
She dislikes people who hide their true feelings and put up a front just to get people to like them.
Q: Questions
1. do they ask for help?
Yeah, mainly from Xochitl or any of her other family. She usually only asks for help from someone she trusts.
2. do they ask questions in class?
Yes, just so she can do her tasks perfectly and not get in trouble. She was very dedicated to not making mistakes so no one would yell at her or punish her.
3. do they answer questions that make them a little uncomfortable?
She will just because she thinks she doesn’t have anything to hide, but she won’t want to answer it.
4. do they ask weird questions?
Yeah. When she was little and just met Arzan and Mae, she asked them if they know where their earholes go because they don’t have earlobes. She also asked Tarel why he doesn’t have hair on one half of his head (Xo answered that it was because Buttons’ mom at the other half)
5. are they curious?
Yeah, it’s about 90% of why she gets in trouble with Xo. Xo of course understands that kids should be able to run around and get dirty, but they’re still dealing with the trauma of losing Yaretzi twice when she was a little kid.
R: Rules
1. do they follow rules?
She tries to. When she was a slave she followed the rules as close as she could so she wouldn’t get punished, and now she wants to be as good as a child as she can for Xochitl, but she does lies in order to do her job.
2. would they be a strict or laid-back parent?
Given how Xo struggles to keep the line between letting their child live her life and keeping a close eye so she doesn’t go missing again, Yaretzi thinks she’d be a laid back parent but still be open in case her child wants to talk to her about stuff that’s bothering them.
3. have they ever been consequenced for breaking a rule?
Only once, when she snuck out of the house to try to go to a festival that was happening a town over. She knew that Xo wouldn’t let her go because it was winter and there was storm coming that would be brutal, but she had enough faith for herself to go. Of course, she got caught in the storm and Xo barged in like an angry mother to come save her and Yaya had seen that rage at those who tried to harm her, but had never seen it directed at her. Of course, Yaya got sick and wasn’t allowed to leave the house for three weeks.
4. have they broken any rules they now regret breaking?
She regrets breaking the above because she feels extremely guilty about using Xo’s trust in her against them.
5. do they find any rules they/others follow absolutely ridiculous?
She hated the work she had to do as a slave. As far as roles went, it was all menial work and the other slaves made sure she didn’t get anything that would pout her in danger, but she can’t just understand why slavery is a thing.
S: Streets
1. are they street-smart?
One of the many Xo’s taught her is that the world is full of both very bad and very good people, but you never know who is which when you meet them. So always be wary.
2. would they give money to someone on the streets?
Every time she goes out, she tries to. She keeps most if it so she and Xo can feed themselves, but at least 10% of her money she tries to give out.
3. have they ever gotten in a fight on the streets?
No, she’s always been a good runner and a smart girl that if she senses danger, she will run the other way.
4. has anything happened to them on the streets?
No, she’s always had people to look out for her, unless you count when she was kidnapped and sold into slavery.
5. are they cautious when out?
Absolutely. It’s one of the few rules Xo has for her along with ‘Always be back before sundown’, ‘Never go with anyone no matter what they say they have’, and ‘Always beat Tarel at anything involving accuracy just so I can tease him later’.
T: Truth
1. are they honest?
She’s usually brutally honest, unless she’s lying to save someone (or lying to Xo about what she really does all day). But for the most part she will say exactly what’s on her mind whether that’s good or bad.
2. can they tell if someone is lying?
Oh yeah. Girl was taught to be kind, but wary of everyone, so she has a +6 to insight. If she thinks you’re bullshitting her, she will find out.
3. is it obvious when they’re lying?
Not really. Probably to people who are naturally distrusting she would be found out quick, but in the case of lying to Xo, she knows that her mom cares so much about her that they’d believe just about anything she told them just because they believe she has never done anything wrong in her life, ever.
4. have they lied about anything they regret lying about?
She doesn’t necessarily regret lying to Xo about her job, but she does feel incredibly guilty about it because if her mom knew how her little Yaya was getting them bills, they’d probably have a heart attack.
5. have they told truths that have been spread against their will?
Not really. She’s been lucky that most stuff about her life has been kept secret. Xo wants the both of them to live in as much anonymity as possible, and so far that hasn’t been an issue.
U: Underdog
1. have they been bullied?
Definitely, especially in both the places where she was forced to work as a slave.
2. have they bullied anyone?
Nah, Yaya knows how detrimental bullying can be and vows not to do it to anyone. Except possibly Uncle Tarel because she’s just that niece.
3. have they been physically attacked by a bully?
When she was kidnapped by the slavers, she got tackled to the ground and nearly choked out.
4. have they ever been doubted?
When she worked for her first slave family and escaped, the people she left with just planned on having her work in organizational work but then saw how stellar she was at archery.
5. have they surprised people with being good at something?
She surprised almost everyone at being and archer prodigy. Also being good at murder?
V: Vomit
1. do they vomit often?
Nah, she’s got a stomach of steel. She’s worked with enough animals and their shit to keep any food down.
2. do they get lots of stomach aches?
Nope. The only type of sicknesses Yaretzi gets usually is sniffles and head colds.
3. are they good at comforting someone ill?
She’s decent at it. She tried comforting her sister when she had the plague that eventually killed Yaya’s entire family, but since then she’s usually been the youngest everywhere she went, so never really had the practice.
4. what do they like as far as comfort goes?
When she gets head colds, she really likes Xo making her soup or cider and just being tucked in and hugged.
5. do they burp, cough, or hiccup most when nauseous? when vomiting?
She usually does little burps when vomiting. She hates it.
W: Water
1. do they drink enough water?
Xo makes sure that she does, and when she was living with her past caretakers before she and Xo were reunited, they all took her under their wing and made sure she drank enough water.
2. have they learned to swim?
When she was with her previous job, when there was a free day, the people she worked with would teach her how to swim in the nearby stream.
3. do they like to swim?
She likes swimming in the ponds and lakes in the forest, but she really only does it to bathe because she doesn’t like swimming alone.
4. can they dive?
Nah, she’s got the fear of what if she gets stuck upside down.
5. can they swim without holding their nose?
She can, just not for long.
X: Xylophone
1. what is their favorite genre of music?
R&B and anything with a strong bass guitar.
2. do they have a favorite song?
“Rude Boy’ by Rihanna.
3. do they have a favorite band/artist/singer?
If modern music existed, Destiny’s Child or Rihanna.
4. can they sing well?
Her birth mom was a great singer and passed that talent along to Yaya. She doesn’t show it off that much, but it’s enough that one of the things Xo always praises her about (besides everything) is her singing.
5. can they rap?
Girl loves R&B, you bet your ass that the baby dwarphan can rap.
Y: You
1. how old were you when you created them?
18. She was made at the same time as Xochitl.
2. what inspired you to create them?
I wanted Xo to have a “Lee and Clementine” relationship, and thus the dwarfin was born.
3. were they different when they were first created?
I mean, in the sense that she developed as a person as she grew up, but how I intended her to be, not really. I wanted her to be more idealistic as a small child and be more realist and hardened as she grew up. She’s still definitely more idealistic than Xo is, but she’s a salted caramel.
4. do you enjoy writing them more than other characters?
I haven’t really done much with Yaya, but I do love her as a character. I really like playing with child characters because they’re not super mature but they can be major ass kickers.
5. what’s your favorite thing about them?
She just wants her mom to be happy and not have to worry about her. But by striving to fix that, she ends up making Xo worry about her more because of how dangerous Yaretzi’s job is.
Z: Zebra
1. what’s their favorite animal?
Deer. She likes watching them in the forest when she’s working.
2. do they like animals?
She loves animals. Her mom’s a druid and at a lot of her previous jobs she had to work with animals.
3. cats or dogs?
Doggos. She loves big animals and like Xo, feels at peace when surrounded by animals.
4. what’s their dream pet?
She’s not going to lie, she thinks it’d be rad to have a tiger as a pet. At her old just they had a couple tigers and she loved spending time with them and feeding them.
5. do they have any pets at the moment?
She has Buttons the direbear (no longer a cub anymore), but Xo insists on Yaretzi calling Buttons her sister.

Lol, glad to be of service on the plot detail.  Can not wait to find out precisely how I helped, and congrats on finishing the chapter.  Very, VERY excited for the new one, though if previous experience is anything to go by, it’ll probably show up right about when I have to clock in.  But that will give me something to look forward to during my shift. :D  That game sounds awesome, but so intense.  The other person I know paying it said she only made it about three hours before she had to pause for a while due to emotional overload.  And I’m well used to that authorial tendency towards “sorry not sorry” when it comes to reader reactions. XD
Oh god, I love the idea of them as potentially competing players.  Huge chunks of the unaffiliated/unaffected Houses would get caught up in the rumors and romance of it all.  Chris in the stands getting all kinds of weird looks because he keeps rooting for both teams (uh…no pun intended?).   And yeah, I like Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic for Chris.  Oh god I can see all of them excelling at the dueling club.  He and Noah take Muggle Studies and develop a minor fascination with muggle weaponry.  Ooh, what would their Patronuses (Patroni?) be?  Would Peter be a wolf Animagus instead of a werewolf given their representation in the books?
And I love all the kids reacting to new siblings.  (Jackson will always be the baby, even when he’s not, lol.)  Hmm, I can’t decide if I like the idea of going more fantasy or sci-fi for the nursery (Fables sounds amazing, though, and I feel I need to find some copies.  But perhaps slightly dark for a nursery.)  Part of me feels they could give it sort of Hobbit-y feel, with rolling hills and towering forests, but add woodland characters in from lots of other series, too, scattered throughout the trees (and Ents, and Groots).  Maybe a fake tree in one corner with one or two of those hanging chair things.  But part of me just keeps screaming “OMG OUTER SPACE!!!"  She could paint galaxies and nebulas across one wall.  They could put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, and have a mobile of Star Wars ships over one crib and one of Star Trek ships over the other.  Gah, I can’t decide!  And Malia (or Peter) would totally need to make them each one of these wolf lovey blankets.  In the correct colors for Peter’s coat, possibly out of the yarn with his fur, so the scent could comfort them.  I actually found a number of geeky hats, etc, that she could make for them (I may have gotten a bit carried away.  Again.  In my defense they’re adorable.)  Now I’m also curious how the kids set up their own rooms in the new house.  Also curious where Ben’s deductive skills might later lead him.
You are very welcome for that image.  It is a lovely one isn’t it?  And can you imagine some of the poses they’d do for photo ops (especially with how shameless Peter is?)  I also think one of the kids would manage to convince them to go out into the Preserve in those costumes to get some  nicely atmospheric shots for Malia’s blog.  At least one of those ends up on one of the walls of the house (nursery if more fantasy themed, living room/den otherwise)  I just wish I could have found better pics than Google was providing.  I refuse to believe there are that few guys that do Red Riding Hood.  I know I’ve seen it at cons before.
Ugh, I have SO MANY FEELINGS about slow dancing together, and singing to/with each other.  Just.  All the yes.  Gimme.  Which reminds me, I was listening to one of the Guardians Awesome Mixes the other day, and it occurred to me that "O-o-oh Child” would actually work fairly well for the playlist, or as a lullaby they sing to their kids (maybe a hand me down from another family member, sung together before everything went to shit, then separately as a tiny point of connection, they start using it again when the newer kids come along.  Maybe they even catch one of the older kids singing it to one of the babies?  Idk, I’m apparently having feels.)
Omg, yes, go to bed, lol!  Sleep is helpful and useful, especially when sick.  (I say, as though I’m not terrible about it as well.)  Enjoy your day off, and the probable many hours of gaming it will entail.
This is the section I changed:
The condom breaking on Noah and Peter had been one hell of a spectacle between the three of them. After what happened with him they’d been on edge and actively trying to avoid another accident. Anu, however, had other plans for them and had caused another pregnancy scare. They could only hope that they wouldn’t have to face reality once again. When Peter had told him he had three heartbeats and his scent had changed, he’d freaked out beyond belief. Merlia had bought him a pregnancy test and Talia had offered to have a talk with his father when it came back positive. He’d declined. He really didn’t want to tell his father that he was currently pregnant. And if Peter and the wolves were to believed, with twins. His father would carve his babies out of his stomach before he allowed him to carry to term. A protective hand rested on his abdomen and he looked up to find Peter staring at him, smiling.
Originally I had written that Chris wasn’t worrying and that he didn’t know he was pregnant just yet. Thanks to our back and forth, I realized, wait a second that’s a really big plot hole and I need to fix that.
I think Malia not telling Stiles was a plot hole as well, but I didn’t catch it on time and it’s not glaring in this case. (I think, I hope.) Whoops.
I’ve finished the game by now and I am very torn on it. On the one hand, I was very emotional but it just got darker and darker as it progressed and we are forced to spend time with a character we don’t like. And the way they wrote that story just doesn’t work for me. Which is really sad because the first game was my favorite game ever. And my Joel cosplay was one of the first cosplays that let me be a dude. I realized I was trans and got comfortable with that fact through cosplay. And Dean Winchester and Joel were fundamental cosplays for this. (I’m also planning a really dope Peter Hale cosplay. I’m so excited. Lemme show you some pics of what I want to do with SFX)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this game, it’s very intense for me and I couldn’t finish it because of its story. I watched the rest on Youtube and I agree with many that it’s not a bad story, it’s just not likable. And you’re not meant to like it, but when I play games I play them for the story and to know this story is so unlikable. It kinda kills me inside.
But it definitely drives me to write a really good likable story myself. Even if it gets dark, I want people to say yeah, ok. I get it. I understand why these characters did this. But I’m happy this ended well and my favorite characters got a happy ending together. That’s what I want Once upon a Time to mean.
"O-o-oh Child” would actually work fairly well for the playlist, or as a lullaby they sing to their kids (maybe a hand me down from another family member, sung together before everything went to shit, then separately as a tiny point of connection, they start using it again when the newer kids come along.  Maybe they even catch one of the older kids singing it to one of the babies?
I loved this suggestion so much, I once again put it in the story. It’s gonna be sweet but also heart wrenching. I can’t wait to see your reaction.
And once again, I adore all of this. I just have a lot I wanna say, also in regards to your reviews and I’m trying to figure out what things I can talk about.
This story is rather full of men who are uncles, in fact. But not men who are from U.N.C.L.E., that's a different fandom entirely. Am I getting a bit slap happy? Quite possibly. Oh well.)
This had me hollering, thank you for that. I honestly don’t know what my uncle obsession is in this story. It just fits? But this was funny, my god.
"Please..." Melissa muttered. "Uncle Chris, you patented the kicked puppy look" Did you mean for that to be Derek?
Yeah, the lines were supposed to be :
"Please..." Melissa muttered.
"Uncle Chris, you patented the kicked puppy look"
I missed that one in the edit, but I fixed it! So there was a space that I missed. New line, new character saying something.
Had a moment of delayed reaction to noticing that Peter says "I've made these", not "I've had these made" (was too excited and reading too quickly the first time), and like, made as in carved himself?
I was wondering why that hadn’t come up yet, hahaha, but I see. And yeah, he carved it himself with his own claws. I thought that had a deeper meaning and that’s where the wood carving headcanon came from.
I think that’s everything that I can address right now. I’m definitely writing everything else down.
And I will definitely share a sweet little flashback today and find a good FC for John Hale. (Nathaniel, Talia, Merlia, and Peter’s dad.)
I’m thinking:

43 Bobo & waves? thank u
FFN II AO3
Summary: Future fic. When Bulshar comes across Bobo and Waverly, Bobo has to make a decision if he's going to protect his angel or himself.
Writing prompt for an anon on Tumblr: Prompt #43 - "I'm not going to lose you again!"
Lose You
It had all happened in a blur of chaos, like everything in their lives.
One minute she had been sure he was evil. Absolute, pure evil that could manipulate a child to help him attack her family, steal her sister away, and bring about every ounce of pain that they'd felt. That certainty had overshadowed any goodness, any fond feelings that she had had for him and it had given her the will to push those memories down that countered that understanding… even if they crept up and in and around like a reminder that this whole situation might not be as straight forward as she was trying to make it.
Then Doc had told her that Bobo had offered her to Clootie and she'd felt a sense of confirmation. She had been right to distrust him when she saw him with the Widows, even if he'd just helped her to bring Wynonna back.
Things were never that simple when it came to Bobo Del Rey though. There weren't just two sides to a story, but many. They were broken and fractured, making it very difficult to tell what game he was playing at or whose side he was actually on, but then he'd fought free of Clootie's hold and he and Wynonna had made their deal. He was going to help them. If Wynonna was willing to end Clootie - Bulshar - once and for all, he was willing to help them finish what he and Wyatt had started so many years before.
Waverly hadn't trusted him right away. How could she? The fact that a part of her wanted to was beside the point. It was childish and naive, just as she had been when she'd slipped through the fenceline to go play with her so-called imaginary friend. In the weeks that he'd worked with them she found herself remembering those days and the way he had hoisted her up on his shoulders and paraded her around until she nearly fell from her perch giggling. Or the way he'd pulled her from the icy lake and wrapped her up in his coat to make sure she was safe and warm. Or how they'd sat together at the fenceline and she'd told him about how lonely she felt and he'd promised her - he had promised her - she would never be alone. As long as she wanted him, he would be right there with her.
She had started to see glimpses of what she remembered in him, but she hadn't quite let herself trust. Not yet. She had pushed him away on the rare occasion he tried to reach out, she had done everything that she could not to let the brief flash of real emotion in his eyes make her heart ache. He had been her very best friend once and she didn't dare risk that kind of attachment again if it hadn't been real.
And then Clootie had come to make good on the promise Bobo had made while under his influence, and instead of giving Waverly up to him he'd put himself between her and the demon. Bulshar had reached out, power ripping through the air, and Bobo's boots had left the ground as he'd been lifted into the air, his entire body rigid and his scream echoing across the space.
There was nothing Waverly could do as she'd seen his eyes flash red, deep and dark and angry, and that last strip of dark hair on his head turn white as the demon set him down, crumpling and twitching at the dark power that had rushed through him, and when he rose he wasn't the man she'd hoped was real. Clootie had him again.
This wasn't fair. He had given himself up to protect her and now he snarled, a sick smile twisting his lips as he watched her, tilting his head. His eyes were red. They remained red. She'd never seen a Revenant so fully possessed. So void of anything less than evil. It wasn't fair. This wasn't him, and somehow it had taken seeing him like this for her to know for sure that the man she'd known as a child was how he should really be.
"Run along, Little Sister," Bobo said, his voice low and vicious. "The deal won't last long."
The deal. Him for her. That had been the deal he'd struck with Clootie. He would give himself willingly if Bulshar would let the youngest Earp sister run.
Her vision blurred and she balled her fists at her side, digging her boots into the soft ground. "I'm not going anywhere."
"Stupid child," he growled. "Go."
He was there. She could hear him just behind the violence and the cruelty of his tone. He was trying to get to run. Trying to save her one last time, but if he could do that then he wasn't entirely gone. She could still save him.
Tears slipped down Waverly's cheeks as she took a determined step forward. She didn't have any backup and this might be the biggest mistake of her life, but she wasn't going to leave. She'd lost him once. When her daddy had died, when Willa had been taken, and Wynonna had been committed, Bobo had stopped coming to see her. She'd lost everything in one fell swoop, and she had hated him for it. Part of her had hated him enough to convince herself it had never happened. Not really.
But it had, and this man that had been there for her when her own daddy never needed her now. No matter how complicated it was, he was her friend. Somehow he always had been.
"I'm not losing you again!" Waverly screamed, her voice cutting through the air and a sob escaped her as she found herself directly in front of him now. She could feel the darkness coming off of him in waves, but he was fighting it. He was trying. For her. And if he was going to fight for her, she was sure as hell going to fight for him. It was passed time that someone did. "I'm not losing you again. You don't get to make that choice for me again."
He was frozen in his place, his expression taught as she stood in front of him. She must have looked like a mess with the way the tears were streaming now and she could hear Clootie whispering through the air. He stood back, though, waiting to see what his would-be servant would do.
Waverly swallowed hard, her voice still cracking as she spoke. "You protected me. You made sure Willa didn't drown me and that even if Daddy forgot my birthday that you wouldn't. You listened to me and let me drag you into tea parties and woodland princess games and…. It's my turn. It's my turn to be here for you. Just…" She squeezed her eyes closed, but when she opened them she reached out, her hand outstretched to him. "Just don't go. I don't wanna lose you again."
Bobo faltered, the darkness around his eyes fading and the hue shifted back to their natural blue. He loosed a pained breath, shoulders hunched forward and he looked like he might fall towards her. "Angel," he breathed. "I can't. He'll take you."
The gunshot went off, startling both of them, and Bulshar jolted at the shot. It hadn't made contact, but it was enough to send him skulking backwards. Waverly whipped around to see Wynonna standing on the hill just a few yards away, Peacemaker aimed and a deadly expression on her face. Doc, Dolls, and Nicole stood with her, all armed and ready for the fight.
"You want to live today, Bulshar, you leave without them. Both of them," Wynonna warned dangerously.
Waverly looked back to see Clootie slipping back. He was outnumbered and perhaps even outpowered without Bobo fully on his side. He hissed a threat into the air and Bobo shuddered at it, pitching forward suddenly and Waverly caught him, not quite able to keep him on his feet but she sank to the ground with him.
He struggled to pull air into his lungs, blue eyes unfocused head of him and Waverly reached a tentative hand forward to his arm. "Hey?"
That drew his attention and he clicked his teeth, clearly struggling to regain control. "Yeah," he breathed out.
"You with me?"
"Yeah."
"You okay?"
There was a pause there, a flash of pain deeper than she'd ever seen from him before in his eyes and he closed them. "You shouldn'ta stayed." His gaze flickered up and behind her to Wynonna. "You shouldn'ta come."
"Tough," Wynonna huffed. "You know, when you told us you were on our side and we accepted that, that meant we were on yours too. We don't leave people behind. Even asshole Revenants."
Waverly shot her a look and her sister shrugged. Bobo was staring at them both, his expression confused. The younger Earp sister offered a smile and reached forward, latching her arms around his neck in a tight hug that left him rigid. "What Wynonna's trying to say is…. You're stuck with us."
He didn't relax, didn't even return the embrace, but as Waverly released him she saw a very tentative sort of acceptance in his gaze. They all had a lot to prove to each other, but she knew one thing for certain: she wasn't going to lose him again. Not if she could help it.
Notes: I have several themes that I'm hoping to see in S3, and one of those is that Wynonna and Waverly both choose to trust Bobo. Even when it gets difficult, they stick it out with him where he doesn't feel like anyone else has.

Good Luck Friedrich
A series of video diaries by Isabella Beilschmidt for her baby brother, Friedrich, where she details and explains the lives of their hectic family.
Managed an update woo! As always, expect slow ones with this story, but since lately I’ve been getting a lot of messages about it, I planned of a way to work on this one quicker after I finish a new thing I’m working on, so you might get the next chapter sooner, but let’s see how that goes. Hope you enjoy!
                                                      Video 2
“No, no, no, a nice gentle orange!”
“But we already painted this in baby blue, it won’t match!”
“Oh trust me, my kind of orange will be perfect. Wait till we start mixing and you’ll see what I mean.”
“It better be pretty, because if not, I’ll feel embarrassed walking by this every day.”
“Analiese, you’ll be in Paris by the time we start using it."
“I still have an entire summer here!”
Isabella had enough of this, she switched the camera from the wall her papa and older sister were currently discussing on, to the crib where Friedrich lay, facing the ceiling, ever curious eyes darting every part of the ceiling, room and the dogs that watched around him, his cute little hands and feet wobbling, still testing out his first movements. To Isabella there was nothing more adorable, especially since he was wearing a really small and cute woodland creatures footie pajamas.
“Hi, Friedrich. You are now three weeks old! You see your sister Analiese and Papa there,” she pointed as they began a tracing, and to her surprise, the baby followed the movements, his eyes now frozen on their figure, wobbling more, surely wanting his papa’s attention.
“They’re working on our semester calendar for when school starts again in September…well, for the ones who are staying in Switzerland of course. Papa takes this wall and paints all our schedules into this huge beautiful calendar surrounded by beautiful designs of a theme we all vote on. This time, fairy forest won. It’s a way for us to organize ourselves as well to not forget any of our assignments, plans or even what day were in. He’s being doing this from the moment Heinrich and Alessandro started Kindergarten, and as we got older, we even help him. Maybe one day you’ll help papa and vatti make your own calendars.”
After her explanation, she started pointing the camera around the high ceiling of this living room, the elder walls, the different paintings their papa and the rest had decorated with over the years.
“This is a beautiful place, isn’t it? Large, lively and even strong.” With a little last poke to his nose, she stood and began walking around, introducing the kitchen, the library, the halls, from the ones in the basement as well as the top floors, their views of perfect blue sky, of green hills, colorful fauna, from the distance and even the ones they grew in their garden and yard.
“This place is more than two hundred years old. Vatti used to tell us a story about a powerful woman that used to live here, so selfish and greedy that a witch placed a curse on her to never leave the threshold of her house. Vengeful she was she began to study all kinds of witchcraft to get back at her. Once she learned enough, she challenged the witch on a dual for her freedom and vatti says that a great battle took place in these very hills until she acclaimed her winning. The process helped to make her kinder actually, starting a school to teach little witches and wizards what she learned…but then we told uncle Vash, and he just said that an old noble family used to own it, went broke and just left the house fall to pieces. Yep, the house didn’t use to look like this.”
She pointed the camera around, hoping with the story she was to tell that Friedrich could imagine how broken down it had been once, instead of all this strong wood, paneling, colors, carpets and order that took years to reach.
“You’re lucky you didn’t see it when it was still being worked upon, so the house can be to you from the beginning a strong fortress to protect and grow in and-”
“I’m starting to have second thoughts about this…”
“Oh come on, it won’t be that bad!”
A sling, a throw, a body being hit against the wall, creating a hole, debris falling on the ground, along with a dizzy Aldrich, who groaned and tried to relieve himself from the pain. Isabella was so startled she could only remain still, letting the camera roll and capture this. Alessandro came out the door his younger brother was slung from, panicking, as surprised to a still as Isabella. He was clearly not expecting for this to cause so much damage.
“What just happened?” Analiese shouted as she came up, gasping but quickly being the only one to hurry to Aldrich’s side, to help him up, check on him and embrace away any kind of pain.
After Friedrich started wailing, Feliciano climbed up with the baby in his hold, trying to shush him back to his calm, which was hard to do with the dogs following around and then for all to instantly panic when they saw where Aldrich lay, going to his side to help and inspect the damage. Feliciano quickly calculated and sent a heavy glare in Alessandro’s direction.
“What happened here?” He demanded.
“Uh…” Alessandro was quickly trying to plot something that wouldn’t get him into trouble.
“I have everything tapped. You can’t escape from this one,” Isabella interrupted.
Alessandro groaned but was still too scared to talk.
“Whatever it was, it’s your money we are using to fix this and your vatti will later give you a stern talking to,” their papa warned, beginning to pick some things to clean up as well as filling Aldrich with all kinds of kisses he sometimes wished could heal.
The last thing the camera caught as it turned away was Alessandro’s groan. It now instead focused on Isabella’s still surprised expression, deciding to move away from this commotion and find somewhere silent to begin.
“Okay, so, eighteen years later and the house is still falling apart, but trust me, it’s way better than how it used to be…”
Ludwig and Feliciano had arrived for the first time before the house almost eighteen years ago, on a bad red golf Volkswagen, the cheapest one they could find, with nothing but a couple of bags of clothes and other small items they could take in the small time they had.
Back then, there was no paved entrance, no garden, Feliciano couldn’t even spot the door, only but grass and vines standing tall and wrapping around every available opening of the old decaying house. Feliciano came out from the car and neared, not fearful, finding available spots to enter through the fauna until finally he could reach the door, a heavy lock impeding any kind of trick. Luckily Ludwig had brought a large snip to easily break it, and although the door was free for a simple push to give them entrance, they both though it appropriate to use the keys they were given for their first entrance. The locks worked sufficiently and Ludwig pushed the door for him, instantly greeted by a cloud of dust, falling specks of rocks, the only light being the one that came from the door, illuminating only but greyed floors, rotten wood and walls, and various holes that let quite the cold air drift. Pieces of the ceiling lay on the floor, rats, cockroaches and spiders scurried, and Feliciano was just about ready to let himself cry.
“Ludwig…it’s much worse than they said,” he honestly told.
Ludwig sighed, agreeing, taking off the heavy jacket he wore to instead give it to Feliciano, making sure to cover him well. He tightened the beanie on his head, fitting the large jacket well on his shoulders, then buttoned the area where the large bump in his stomach lay.
“Stay here, I’ll check the rest of the house."
“No, I want to see it too. We need to see it together.” He already moved forward, taking his arm decided.
“Feliciano, all kinds of sickness and diseases are in the air. I can’t risk you and I can’t risk the baby either,” he was determined.
Feliciano raised his hand to cover his mouth area from the dust, dirt and contaminated air. “I’ll stay like this, and don’t worry, as long as I’m by your side, I know I am well and that you will protect me,” he promised.
Ludwig groaned but ended up accepting, making sure that Feliciano’s hold of him was tight, assuring, for no such escape even if something were to suddenly happen.
They started the inspection, checking the functionality of every still standing door, of the broken windows, of old mural paintings that Feliciano would be determined to fix. The floors creaked much worst as they took their steps. Some halls were inaccessible with all the debris and old furniture that piled. The stairs were so unsafe, with many holes and even worst piles of impending entrance that Ludwig and Feliciano feared to go up to the second floor or down below to the basement.
As they were checking the old kitchen, Feliciano gave a simple little cough.
“We’re leaving,” Ludwig decided.
“But-”
“We saw enough. Come on, let’s go.” He took a more protective hold of Feliciano, trying to cover his entire body well on him until they finally exited, closing the door behind them.
They moved the car only but a mere distance, for Ludwig’s Swiss cousin’s house, which lay in the very near vicinity. His young cousin Lili was the one who instantly came out to greet them, offering them both kind embraces and welcomes, helping them with the small luggage of things until they were brought to the basement, which would be their stay in the meanwhile.
The four of them shared a dinner of soup, baked fish and a simple summer salad, just perfect enough for Ludwig and Feliciano after everything.
“How soon are you planning to start on it?” Vash asked.
“Tomorrow. I’ll start by cleaning it up, getting rid of all those old piles of junk,” Ludwig already planned on his head.
“But…aren’t you already going to start working on Vash’s mechanic shop as well?” Lili wondered with worry.
“I will. I’ll just wake up early and work what I can before leaving, then come back and continue until it gets too late.” He didn’t seem to mind at all despite the deep hurt Feliciano felt, knowing that he would exhaust himself so much for him and for the coming baby.
“Take it easy, Ludwig. Why don’t you instead work on it on the weekends?” Vash suggested.
“We have no problem with letting you both stay here however long until it’s good enough for you two to move in,” Lili added.
“I rather not. I want to have it done as quickly as possible. I don’t want my son or daughter to come into this world homeless,” he said while taking his bites of salad and fish harshly in determination.
“Ludwig…” Feliciano reached a hand to lay on his arm dearly. “I’m only four months in, the baby won’t be coming until January. We have enough time. I don’t want you to overwork yourself. We’ll manage what we can peacefully, and even if we don’t have the house ready yet, the baby will have us, and a lot of love, and that should matter the most, right?”
Ludwig still remained pensive, but he did take a dear hold of Feliciano’s hand, rubbing it gently, with promise and wishes, eyes landing on the bump of his stomach, reminding him of everything he still desired for the little thing that was growing inside.
“I still want to give it everything,” he said, the heavy promise obvious in his attentive eyes, to nothing but the bump and Feliciano’s face.
“It will have it, Ludwig, there’s no doubt, but don’t hurt yourself in the process. I rather this baby have you and me than anything else." He raised his hand to rub at the side of his face, quite an intimate and meaningful moment for them, which actually left Vash and Lili feeling rather awkward.
“Do you know its gender yet?” Lili wondered, quite excited about the coming little cousin she’ll have and wanting to change any gloomy air in the table.
“We were going to ask if you knew any doctors. I should be getting my first sonogram soon and that’s when we’ll surely know,” Feliciano smiled, excitement reigning once again.
“I really do not mind what it will be, I’m just worried about his bump, it’s too big for someone whose only been pregnant for four months,” Ludwig told.
“Mrs. Natale, she has a lab in the village. The number one person to go to about this. I’ll give her a call and assure you an appointment as soon as possible,” Vash promised.
They continued on other topics, until all plates were empty and they could withdraw to their sleeping preparations.
As soon as Feliciano had his shower, he sat down on the floor, a sketchbook on what was supposed to be his bed, drawing along while Ludwig was finishing his own book, with every turn taking a glance to try and have a peek at what his mate was doing. The only time Feliciano broke from his concentration was to stare at the clock in the bedside table, showing that it was about to be midnight.
“Caro, you should be going to sleep,” he told him.
“Not until you do as well,” Ludwig told him back, but obeying and closing his book, leaving it right at the bedside table as Feliciano did with his sketchbook. Ludwig made space for him and Feliciano took his spot beside him, letting their arms wrap around each other, dwelling in their softness and warmth.
“What were you drawing?” Ludwig asked, curious after he hadn’t managed to catch a single glimpse.
Feliciano had no problem with picking the sketchbook and showing him, both gazing to Feliciano’s plans for the house, how he was thinking of making the gardens, the entrance, the façade, the rooms, the halls, the living room, the kitchen, the terrace, all to every last detail and intricacy, a wonder that Ludwig could agree would be the dream they both wanted for this house. The last drawings were the plans for the baby’s room, still unfinished, but what took Ludwig’s interest was the giant stuffed dog doll in the corner. He raised his eye at that and Feliciano couldn’t help but laugh.
“Will that really be necessary?”
“Of course! Our baby could play with it and make it feel protected. I’m sure this child would love dogs as much as you do,” he grinned, nuzzling his nose with his.
“Well, if we can find a place that sells big stuffed dog dolls, sure, and also…if we have the money,” and Ludwig gloomed, saddening and worrying as every time he thought about the economic problems they faced, sighing and hoping he could forget about them in the trace of his fingers on Feliciano’s stomach.
“We will do what we can, please don’t worry, Luddy. If we can’t get it, it’s all right. Small little ones would be enough, I don’t mind. Like I always say, what matters the most is being together,” Feliciano said, taking the side of Ludwig’s face to rub, easing him close for a meet of their lips, the last soothing touch to bring them into their sleep and dream.
Feliciano convinced Ludwig to stay resting in the morning, only to be awakened once he had to leave with Vash to start working at the shop. Once they were gone, around the slope of the hill in their car, Feliciano and Lili picked some bags they quickly prepared after breakfast and headed down on foot to the old browned house. Once they were inside, Lili cleared whatever old planks, curtains, broken glass or piles from small openings, letting in more natural light into the old home, much easier to see and work with. She made sure that both her and Feliciano were covered as Ludwig would have wanted if he was there, with tied cloths on their mouths and heads, gloves, old hoodies, old pants, boots, and she jokingly put a pillow around Feliciano’s bump. They started clearing the main entrance, everything either moved to a single pile in a corner or outside in another one. They moved, they dusted, all through the day, until finally Feliciano could actually spot the stone of the floor clear. It was only a small space, but it was relieving, it was a sign of progress.
Time was lost to them as they worked, the late evening approaching them without notice, until sudden steps joined, neither Feliciano’s nor Lili’s.
“What are you doing here?” Ludwig instantly scolded, rushing off to take a hold of Feliciano, dusting away any dirt, taking watch of every part of him, relieved to find absolutely nothing stuck to his skin or signs of sickness since he prepared himself well.
“Lili and I thought it was best we started while you and Vash were away,” he smiled, still content and proud over the little they had done.
Ludwig gazed to Lili, who was dusting away the last of a corner they had decided they would reach for today, smiling and waving to Ludwig as a greeting before she continued with throwing all that dirt through a window. Ludwig couldn’t really complain or get angry, for as his eyes settled on what they worked. It was actually plentiful, the whole entryway clean, sure still a lot of things to be worked upon, but at least most of the old junk and piles were not there anymore, a nice clearing to work peacefully and be more focused on.
“Feliciano, you did an amazing job, but next time,” he reached and took the broom he held, “just wait until I arrive, I don’t want to risk you getting hurt or sick.”
Feliciano couldn’t help his groan, “just because I’m pregnant does not mean I’m incapable, Ludwig. I really want to have this house ready as much as you do, so I want to work on it when I can. It’s our home and I want both of us to work on it together. Don’t feel so worried, I covered myself, I’m with Lili and this street is completely safe. Please let me come here more often without you, I really want to offer what I can.” Even if his gloves, even if all the dust that lay on him and his heavy wear, he still leaned to embrace Ludwig, and he had no hesitation to wrap his own arms around him, only sighing as he let his hands play at his hair, still gazing to what they did, an excellent job for something that was just him and Lili.
Ludwig was weak to all this love.
“Promise me you’ll always come with Lili, do not try to move any of the heavy things that can be straining for you and never take any of the stairs until I fix them, all right?”
“Sì, amore,” Feliciano agreed, smiling unto Ludwig’s chest, relishing in his warmth and comfort.
Extra steps joined, those of Vash as he entered, gazing to what his sister and Feliciano did, an impressed smile as he nodded approvingly to everything.
“Excellent, need any other hands?” They continued until it got too late, with not even their flashlights enough to light up the continuing cleaning they did.
By the time they returned back to Vash’s house, they did well on trying to clean out one of the old living rooms and halls, all piles gathered at the front, Vash having called a truck to pick it up the next morning. They had a nice and welcoming dinner where Feliciano asked Ludwig and Vash about their day, Ludwig suggesting to Feliciano and Lili what they could do while they were away the next day and about that doctor they needed to contact for an appointment.
During the week that passed, a friend of Vash offered to get rid of every ugly bush, tree and tall grass that covered the house. It was all done in an easy day, more for the expecting couple to look, for more light to shine upon it and for more order as they continued to clean, by that moment having finished clearing most of the first floor, covering windows and doors with plastic wraps, installing some large electronic lanterns to help them work in the night, even a foldable table where they kept things like tools, bags, extra brooms, mops and formulas, as well as for whoever was working to have their breaks for food or just rest.
Ludwig and Feliciano decided to halt everything for that Monday since Mrs. Natale, their new Obstetrician, gave them an appointment for Feliciano’s first sonogram. Vash gave that day free to Ludwig without hesitation, understanding well what it meant, and so both headed to the village that morning, excited and nervous.
“Ciao, è un piacere incontrare un altro italiano," she greeted with cheek kisses that Feliciano had no problem with sharing in as they entered her office, Ludwig right behind, offering his own greet with a nod and a shake of her hand. “Vash told me you both moved in about a week ago. You chose a perfect place for your child. It’s a very German-Italian area, both the languages and cultures will be there for them to witness and grow with, although I’m sure you two will plan trips to your countries from time to time.”
Instant gloom set on their faces at that last mentioning, Feliciano stuttering and gazing to Ludwig for hints, wondering what they could tell her. Luckily, sensing how they felt about it, she started the questions quick, the three helping to fill in before it was safe enough to get Feliciano to lay at the chair to start. His shirt was raised, the gel was placed, the machine started and already she had the device circling, studying the screen for what was slowly appearing.
“Any guesses for what it will be,” she said wanting to keep conversation between them.
“We haven’t really sat to talk about it."
“We really won’t mind anything, we just wish for the baby to be healthy."
“But we do want to know if it will be an alpha, omega or beta, to make the necessary arrangements to the room.”
“Ah yes, I heard you two bought the old Wagner manor on an incredible deal. How are you going to deal with the reparation? I’m sorry to remind but the house has been in a horrible state for decades. That kind of fix will take a lot of time and money. I really wish you two luck,” she really did hope, dealing with the screen as the image became much clearer.
“Slowly, one thing at a time.”
“It’s true, we don’t think the house will be fully prepared for when the baby arrives, but we will do what we can so it can be the house they can come into as soon as we leave the hospital that day,” Ludwig expected.
“Right now we’re on a brink with this baby coming, we can’t pay for anything big, but just accept help and do what we can ourselvea."
“So I assume this is the only baby you’ll want for a while.”
“Yes, just for now, I mean, I’d love to have a big family, give this one a little sibling in the future, but we rather wait until we can have enough money and more prepared rooms to take care of a second one,” Feliciano smiled expectantly, already envisioning, one Ludwig couldn’t help but fall dearly to, with such a gentility and smile that betrayed his tall and intimidating demeanor. Mrs. Natale couldn’t help but smile herself, finding them both so sweet.
With one last checking, she came to a conclusion that she was eager to give to the happily expectant parents. There it was and she elated…but after she thought about what they just said, all sweetness left, her smile soured, clear hesitation that Ludwig and Feliciano noticed, of course worrying, Ludwig taking Feliciano’s hand ready to hear whatever it was she would say.
“Signora…is everything all right?” Feliciano wondered, sitting, wanting to be strong for her coming words.
“Um…yes, everything is just …well…from what I can see, you’re going to have healthy alpha boys,” she declared, afraid of the kind of reaction they will get, but still trying to remain as cheerful, to lessen the heaviness.
“Oh, healthy alpha boys,” Feliciano sighed with great relief, but still maintaining his hold in Ludwig’s hand, who felt the same coming calm.
“Hear that, Luddy, we’re going to have alpha boys, just like you. Alpha boys…alpha boys…alpha boys…wait…” the realization hit them.
“Eh…congratulations,” and she turned the screen, to make it obvious that there was in fact two growing little figures in Feliciano’s stomach, which explained the rather large bump he held for just four months. “You’re having twins…”
Ludwig and Feliciano felt all kinds of emotions at that moment, proud to know what their baby would be, of course, healthy, amazing, but two…two babies, identical twins at that, when they were at ruins, an old decaying house they just started fixing, Ludwig with a single job that was not even enough to pay for one baby and now they had to suddenly deal with the fact that they were having two at the same time.
Mrs. Natale calmed them, gave them books, medicines, ways to relax, even offering numbers for people that were bound to donate anything they might need for now two babies. Still, they left the lab with gloomed expressions, the only ounce of joy but a little picture of the sonogram that showed the black and white grained images of the two growing figures. Feliciano maintained his gaze only on it, planning what he could do with it, anything to not look at Ludwig’s expression as they drove back to continue working on the house. Even without seeing him he could sense his trouble, the harshened grip he had on the wheel, a stressed expression, singular on the curved roads they drove.
He thought about putting the picture on the fridge in Vash’s house, maybe on a little frame at the working table in their own house, or he could just keep it in his sketchbook until they actually had a nice wall they could frame it on. He sighed, they didn’t even have a real place to put something as simple as a sonogram picture.
They arrived before the house, so suddenly to Feliciano, who was too dedicated to the picture, to then raise his gaze to the rather horrible house, seeming more ugly now, more taunting, even after they cleared it of everything green covering it at the front, after the internal cleaning, after they placed some lanterns to give it life while they worked in the night or when it got too dark during the day.
Ludwig just got down, not even waiting for Feliciano or offering to open his door, he just went straight into the house, his gaze as frontal as from the moment he was told that he would father twins. Feliciano took a couple of easing breaths before he decided to head out himself, with easy gentle steps, enough for Ludwig not to notice as he gazed to the plans of the house they set on the table, one they had found when cleaning one of the old libraries. It had all rooms marked, which gave more of an assurance and form to how it was once, a help to repair. Ludwig pointed and marked, before he settled on an idea, raising his gaze, pensive and wondering, before he finally laid his eyes on Feliciano, who was shy to come any closer, for dread still seemed to hover above them heavily.
“There’s a series of rooms in this hall,” he pointed above them, “right in the center is the second largest room of the house. A door is right across what will be ours. We have to immediately start work on the stairs, cleaning, fixing the floor and ceiling. Once that is done, we’ll instantly set to work on that room for them.”
Feliciano nodded and so Ludwig closed the plans and sat on a chair, letting out heavy breaths, trying to relax, his head resting on the lean his arm took of the table, drained, tired, with now an extra heavy weight to worry about that didn’t let his mind or even body settle.
Feliciano let him dwell on it before he uttered: “I’m sorry…”
Ludwig raised and turned his gaze to him, wondering what that apology was for.
“I…didn’t expect them to be twins."
“You can’t control that, Feliciano, it just happens."
“Still, having twins runs well in my family, I should have…thought about that, and maybe if I knew…then…” he couldn’t continue, the whimpering didn’t let him, the tears trickled down easily and no matter how hard he gripped his hands on his jeans, it didn’t stop his watering and trembling.
“You would have what?” Ludwig stood, coming close, the scene a breaking that took him a lot of strength to not break the same, extending his hands to caress his face, looking into his eyes as a way to calm him enough to speak.
“Then I wouldn’t have left us do this, I wouldn’t have left myself burden you,” he breathed enough, letting his own tears fall upon his fingers as Ludwig continued to dry them, as Feliciano moved his glance away, too saddened with heavy fault.
“You were, are not, and never will be a burden to me, even if I knew what we did would have produced twins, I still would have done it. I rather have this…falling and tumbling house, broke and with nothing but a couple of bags of things we managed to bring then have the life we used to live before. I would choose you ten times over it.” He pulled his face enough to lay kisses on his cheeks, on his lips, enough of an assurance, enough of an intent.
“I’m happy were going to have alpha boys, that they’re healthy and that we’ll have a big family, it’s just…” he took a deep sigh, hands now falling to rub on his stomach, with the same stress, the same lingering and even fear that he’s worn ever since the news was told.
“I was already scared we wouldn’t have for one…and now that we’re having two…I’m worried…I want them both to be well, to be brought into a secure house where they’ll have everything, entirely everything that I can offer to them and you, but all I have is this house that-” that very moment a piece of the ceiling broke and fell apart unto the clean pavement they had cleared in one of the living rooms. It was so common they were pretty much unfazed by now. “…does that, a job that doesn’t pay enough, barely for one baby, no degree, no qualifications, nothing to really bring what I want into this family. It’s concerning, distressing and I fear that you and our boys will just see me as a disappointment.” He lowered once again, his graying returning, so downed that he couldn’t even continue his words.
No, neither could stand to see each other like this, so even with Feliciano’s own still falling tears, he leaned to place his own hands on the side of his face, in the same caresses, softness and sureness that Ludwig just gave him.
“You were, are not, and will never be a disappointment,” he repeated, with a shining smile, glee in his eyes despite the still falling tears. “I know right now everything looks bad, but we can fix it, there’s a chance for us to change it. We have so many people kindly helping us. We have Vash and Lili, all their friends and Mrs. Natale gave us a lot of numbers and locations to receive donations, we can use those. At least we have a house, not matter its ruin. I-I-I’ll start painting! Yes, I can sell some canvases, have a room with an amazing view just to paint. I learned some sewing from Lovino, Lili has a lot of fabric, I can make the babies’ clothing, I can make many other things to sell as well."
“…I could…try to make their beds and… most of our furniture,” Ludwig slowly began to elate with the prospect, already thinking of all kinds of projects, for Feliciano, for his coming children.
“You can?”
“My cousin Berwald taught me a thing or two. There’s a lot of wood in this area and Vash can help me get anything else. I’m pretty confident in what I’ll be able to do."
“Oh, they’ll be more than enough, they’ll mean more than whatever expensive thing we can get in a store!” Feliciano jumped into his embrace, both now smiling, swaying and laughing, bringing this space more love, more of them, with true elation for the coming twins, confident to give them everything even with the little they could manage. It made this old cringing house lighter, beautiful and more their home.

EDH Decks: Amonkhet Overhaul
Hello everyone! Another Magic set means another massive list of changes for many of my EDH decks! Below, I will outline some of the changes I made, as well as talk a bit about some of the new cards I think are interesting or worth using.
I hope you enjoy my musings!
Here we go!
1. Thromok, the Insatiable
I want to make more changes to this deck in the near future, so I haven’t added much yet. But for now, I added Sheltered Thicket and Vizier of the Menagerie. The thicket isn’t a particularly exciting addition by any means, but it’s kind of cool to have the entire family tree of Forest/Mountains in the deck. The vizier is a super cool card though. This is a very creature-centric deck, but I’ve found the overall CMC of the cards to be a little on the higher side. I replaced Garruk’s Horde with this card, since it does the same thing but at a much lower cost. In the longer run, I want to make this deck a little less about big stuff as my Iwamori deck becomes almost entirely about big stuff. Speaking of which...
2. Iwamori of the Open Fist
Iwamori got a lot in this set, he seems to get along really well with Rhonas and friends. First of all, obviously Rhonas himself found a place in the deck since he will always be a creature and he can pump up the commander. Good stuff. Mouth // Feed is also a really good card in mono-green I feel. I mean, the 3/3 Hippo for 3 isn’t super great or anything, but getting Feed into the graveyard so you can use it whenever you want is pretty nice. Prowling Serpopard is another card I added, but I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. It seems like a decent utility card in a deck full of creatures, particularly since I don’t have access to Vexing Shusher in this deck like I do in Thromok. It can be fetched with Woodland Bellower too, so that’s something.
Now, for a couple cards I’m not completely sold on. Rhonas’s Monument was super wreck in sealed, so I figured I’d give it a shot. It makes my creatures cheaper, so that’s good. It also pumps my commander. Again, not bad. I feel like it should make the cut, but I haven’t used it yet. Finally, I also added Champion of Rhonas, kind of on a whim. I really want to make attacking more important to the deck since people in my playgroup rarely attack if they don’t plan to win the game by doing it, and this seems like a pretty good card for that. I dunno, I had the foil version from the prerelease. I wanted to use it.
3. Melek, Izzet Paragon
Yeah, my green decks got the most from this set. Just one thing here: Commit // Memory. Really, I’m surprised I don’t see more talk about this card. Commit is a pseudo-counterspell as well as nonland permanent  removal. I mean... that sounds great! I like it a lot. Memory is less exciting, but it’s a solid card to cast from a graveyard. All in all I like this card a lot, but somehow I didn’t even know it existed until I got one in a prize pack.
4. Atraxa, Praetor’s Voice
I’m still trying to get this deck to work well. It looks nice. I enjoy the whole aesthetic of the deck. But, it doesn’t really compete super well with the decks my friends run. However, Amonkhet seems to have just the cards that I need: cards that give free stuff! More specifically, cards that give free stuff that are based on counters! As Foretold and Oracle’s Vault are perfect for this deck, so I’m really looking forward to trying them out. I also added Bounty of the Luxa because I think it’s a cool card, and I could always use a bit more card draw/mana. It might go out of the deck later, but for now it’s there.
5. Karona, False God
This isn’t Alara, so 5-colour matters isn’t a theme that pops up often. Having said that, this set has Cascading Cataracts. It’s not a particularly good card, but I have a foil one. I dunno, I could see it maybe being useful if Chromatic Lantern isn’t in play. Possibly. It just looks pretty, okay?
6. Zur de France (Zur the Enchanter)
This deck is getting a lot of goodies, but it’s still a work in progress. Lots of cycling going on. Stay tuned for a deck list eventually!
And yeah, I think that’s it for cards I’m using. Of course, there are other good cards that I think are worth mentioning:
Sandwurm Convergence looks pretty good in a green deck, and I am considering it. The best thing about it is the fact that you actually get a wurm on the turn you play it, so it starts paying off right away. It’s a 5/5 tied to a Gravity Well for 8 mana that keeps generating more 5/5s. Sounds good if you can ramp to it well enough.
Glorious End is a funny card that I’m sure a silly mono-red deck out there somewhere will enjoy.
Samut, Voice of Dissent is a really weird card, and I personally hate that she has White in her activated ability. She’s better as a general that way, but it also means that I can’t use her as a Haste engine in Thromok. What a shame. For me.
Harsh Mentor looks like a card that will get a lot of use in some formats. Turns off a lot of combos, so it’s something to use if those are running rampant in your meta.
Annointed Procession looks really good. I don’t have a White token deck to use it in, but I’m sure it will become a staple in many of them. Can’t complain about as colour-shifted Parallel Lives.
Nissa, Steward of Elements looks super good. Might even find room for her in Atraxa. Probably should, actually.
Pyramid of the Pantheon is a card I really like, but I just have nowhere to put it. It’s a build-your-own Gilded Lotus, but I have no reason to use it over an actual Gilded Lotus. Even in Atraxa, I’d rather use Prismatic Geoscope. It’s a shame too, because I really think it’s a cool card. I mean, Gilded Lotus isn’t very cheap though, and the Pyramid is like a bulk rare. That should help it find a place in a lot of decks out there.
Heaven // Earth is another card that slipped by under my radar. It’s two board wipes in one. Can’t go wrong there.
Reduce // Rubble is a card I mention not because I think it’s good, but because of how disappointed I am in it. It’s fine for what it is, but I was reeeeealllyyy looking forward to the R/U split card for Melek, and I got this. Why is Rubble so... underwhelming? With a name like Reduce to Rubble, you’d think it would at least destroy a land, not just ice a couple down. Ugh.
Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons looks like a sick general. One of my friends is building a deck around her. I even might have if he didn’t.
Liliana, Death’s Majesty looks really good in a reanimator deck. I like her a lot. Not sure what else there is to say about her, she’s just a solid planeswalker.
Cut // Ribbons looks pretty good. Exsanguinate is used in a lot of decks, so if you are also running Red, might as well use this one as well. It’s removal on one hand, and a win-con on the other. Pretty solid.
And, that’s that. If you made it this far, I congratulate you! I hope you enjoyed what you read! I do enjoy talking about Magic cards, even if it means writing these long posts that people may or may not read.

Q&A: Sundara Karma Talk Philosophy, Fashion, & ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect’ Debut Album
Tumblr media
Sporting anti-conformist wardrobes, philosophical dispositions, and a captivating indie-rock sound, British four-piece Sundara Karma is set to infiltrate American playlists, venues, and hearts in 2017.
Their debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect, was released on Jan. 6 via Bee & El/Sony RAL in the US and RCA in the UK. Expanding on the profound title, the band packages themes of loneliness, love and artistic expression into twelve alternative songs that can be applied to both dancing and reflection purposes.
With a booming LP under their belts and a UK tour currently underway, frontman Oscar Pollock stopped by to catch us up on the band’s influences, recent BBC US tour, artists to watch, & more. Read more below.
OTW: Let’s start with the basics—how’d the band and the sound come to life?
Oscar: It’s kind of one of those cliché, not overly exciting stories. I’ve known Haydn since I was eight, and we were in a band way back then called Ricochet, just playing covers. We were also playing our own music back then, and it was really bad. We had a song called “That’s Life,” and it was just three chords of bullshit. Anyways we’ve gotten better since then. I met Ally and Dom when we were 13, and then the band formed when we were like 14, and it’s been Sundara Karma since.
OTW: How did it evolve from “complete shit” to amazingness?
Oscar: I think it’s still evolving. I think that’s what we can hope for—that each day, you get a little bit less shit. I guess it’s just that over the years there’s been more maturity, we’ve pushed our depth of influence and creative corners more each time. The debut album is finished now, but I still think it falls short of what exactly we want to say, or want to do. But I’m happy that it does because otherwise we’d be so comfortable and complacent.
OTW: What is your current “depth of influence?”
Oscar: This is bad, but I’m just discovering Pet Sounds for the first time, and that’s genuinely one of the best records of all time.
For me, literature is also really inspiring. I like to be inspired by experiences—like even just walking through woodlands is crazy inspiring. It’s like there’s a creative block of some sort, and I find going for a walk really helps.
youtube
OTW: Have you ever had a lightbulb moment when everything felt like it came together?
Oscar: Kind of…I think the best kind of lightbulb moment would be when I’m not too involved with what’s going on. If I’m thinking about writing a song too much, then I’m going to be too involved. Maybe the song’s already written somewhere, but you’re just channeling it through at the right moment. That’s a very spiritual, hippie dippie way of explaining what I believe.
OTW: The question everyone’s dying to know: who picks your wardrobes?
Oscar: My mom...I take a lot of clothes from my mom. She teaches fashion; she used to be a fashion designer as well. So from her, I think I’ve learned how to vaguely put an outfit together, or just the whole idea of image. I’ve realized how important it is today, because as someone said, “People listen with their eyes.” I think that’s really true because as soon as you see a band, you’re going to judge them—even before you’ve heard any music. I like it when people just wear what they feel comfortable in and aren’t afraid to look like an idiot.
OTW: You guys rock the retro look! Are you into ‘70s culture?
Oscar: Not really…it’s just that they’re the cheapest items you can find in the charity shops. Yeah…that’s where we shop.
Tumblr media
OTW: You recently wrapped up the first-ever BBC Music Presents US Tour! What were the highlights?
Oscar: Spring King are fucking legends, and they are the nicest people we ever met. The funny thing is, before the tour started we’d always bump into Spring King at festivals, it’d always be at peak of our outrageous drunkenness. Basically we thought they must think we’re such wastemen. Luckily, the best thing the tour did was clear the air a bit—hopefully they don’t think we’re as much wastemen as previously…
OTW: Are you guys highly involved with BBC?
Oscar: Yes, BBC Radio 1 has helped us a lot, especially BBC Introducing. That gave us our first festival slot ever.
OTW: How’s the transition been from the UK to the US spotlight?
Oscar: It’s fucking amazing. We love it out here. We kind of want to be out here for as long as possible. It feels like America might possibly be kinder to us than England is.
OTW: Congrats on your debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect. The title is great—where did it come from?
Oscar: It’s a lyric from one of the songs on the album, and I think it does a good job of summing up the whole album. I think an album title should always sum up the content of the songs that are on it. Plus, it’s a really honest sentiment about growing up—looking back it was fucking amazing, but at the time I didn’t appreciate it.
OTW: Would you say there’s a theme that ties the album together?
Oscar: I’d say loneliness is the theme of the album for sure.
youtube
OTW: Are there any songs that are extra meaningful to you personally?
Oscar: Maybe “Be Nobody” or “Happy Family.” There’s meaning in all of them in different places, and there’s also no meaning in some places too. [chuckles]
OTW: We heard that you’re inspired more about films and philosophers than other musicians—what are some of your favorite quotes?
Oscar: I love Jim Morrison’s classic: “Whoever controls the media controls the mind.” I think that’s so true and relevant. There’s a track on the record called “Olympia” which is inspired by a Manet painting . And Oscar Wilde is always inspiring…I mean, I’m named after him, so from the get-go I couldn’t really avoid his work.
OTW: If you had to describe each band’s role in one word, what’d it be?
Oscar: Haydn has such an understanding of the technicalities of things in music. Ally has an ear for sound landscapes—he has a really sweet touch for reverbs especially. And Dom—I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bassist with as beautiful of an ass as Dom. [chuckles]
OTW: Who are a few artists on your Ones To Watch List and why?
Oscar: Matthew Maltese is a fucking talented dude.
Palm Honey as well—really sick band from Reading.
Blaenavon—they’re from England. Wicked.
Goldn’s really cool. He’s from Reading. He hasn’t done too much yet, but I’m excited to see what happens.
