sorry about ppl being weird about the dnd/oc thing I think people are taking it personally because they love their ocs so they don't realise no one is obligated to care or listen to someone speak about something unimportant at length that they never indicated they wanted to hear about

Apparently some people also don't know how to ignore opinions they disagree with without coming to you and being like "oh so you condone cringe culture? You condone bullying? It's my god given right to go up to strangers and start talking about myself and my ocs and if they don't react positively then they hate fun and should not be trusted. here's the thing i really just straight up think people aren't getting the reason why i put ocs/dnd characters specifically on there, instead of just saying 'dont engage people on subjects they're not interested in/don't infodump'. because the thing about ocs and dnd characters specifically is that they are uniquely difficult to respond to. the really key distinction is that someone's oc/dnd character isn't a relatively neutral topic like, say, explaining the history of slide whistles or whatever because i have a slide whistle hyperfocus. people's OCs are their creative projects, and often creative projects that people put a LOT of emotional stock in

it's honestly i think mostly a problem for artists, i don't see a lot of unprompted oc dumping on people that aren't artists, and so i think people who aren't artists or who have never had a large following just don't have a frame of reference for how uncomfortable it is to be Pitched To by someone or don't understand that it's common enough to be worth mentioning. like. the kind of people who try and talk to random internet artists about their ocs are doing this because they want external validation for their creative work and ideas but don't really understand the socially appropriate avenues to go about doing that yet. often times these people are pretty young. they're also extremely likely to be REALLY sensitive.

so basically your choice is

reply with some sort of tepid generic approval/feigned interest, which will almost always result in this type of person believing you have a Rapport now and trying to push further communications with you

ignore them, and hope this isn't the kind of person who will send follow up, or who will get upset at being ignored and assume malicious intent from that. this is probably your safest response

be frank and tell them outright that this isn't something you're interested in discussing. this is probably the worst response, because as you can tell from the discussion being had on this blog, people tend to think it is extremely rude to say this. basically if you outright shoot down someone who is trying to pitch their own creative work that they're both deeply invested in and insecure about, it's not going to go over well.

and when the best possible response to a topic is to ignore it, i think i can safely say that makes it a bad opener. so like it's not just a situation where person A is telling person B about something B is uninterested in. It's a situation where person A is asking for person B to validate the worth of their creative endeavor and B having to essentially decide between sort of 'leading someone on' and shutting them down in a way very likely to upset them.

i know this seems pretty ridiculous to lay it out in these terms when really, it's not super deep, it's just kind of annoying at the end of the day. but like I Have Autism and being put in a situation where I know that if i speak openly/truthfully, almost no matter how politely i do it, someone's feelings are going to get hurt? That's the nightmare scenario. I hate it so much. so yeah this is less about 'dont put people in situations where they need to feign interest on a topic' and more about 'don't put strangers in a position where they need to feign interest to avoid slighting the quality/value of someone's creative work."

I dont understand why ppl want to get spoilers (that anon worrying abt aegon cheating) for fics or things in general, like, just read on and all your questions will get answered..

You told anon that abby is the only person he truly deeply loved, and yeah its obvious when reading it, but I could also imagine aegon falling in love along the way with other people he engaged with sexually, doesn’t mean he doesn’t love abby still. Maybe the love for the others wasn’t as deep or true, but just bc he loves abby doesn’t mean he cant fall in love (at least a little) with someone else too.

To be honest it doesn’t really seem like it when reading, since he really seems to only have his eyes on abby (romantically) all those years, but it wouldn’t be impossible to sneak in a second love interest for him.. would you do that in Maiden?

People like spoilers because they're hungry for answers. Why do you think there's so much speculation about season two of house of the dragon? And the anon who asked for the heartbreak spoiler, I didn't mind giving because I don't consider it a spoiler. I say right in the story summary that Abby and Aegon will have a Happy Ending, because in this fandom, there are a lot of stories that follow the 'rocks fall and everyone dies' plot of the book. This story isn't. I have heard of people who have been blindsided by poorly tagged stories where they thought they were getting a happy ship ending only to have the canon character like, cheat and then brutalize the OC pairing they were in. I have no problem whatsoever answering questions like this.

As the author, I'm asking you, the reader, to invest your time and emotions into the story I'm crafting. I want you to care. I want you to come along the ride with me! But this is also a fun hobby, and I know if I were a reader and then had the rug pulled out from under me, I wouldn't feel great. This is fic. This is free. This isn't a book I bought. So no, I don't mind reassuring people that Abby and Aegon are going to be okay, and that the current arc that anon was going into wasn't going to go into infidelity. If there was cheating in the story, I absolutely would tag it that way because that's an appropriate trigger. Whatever Aegon is doing during the particular arc, I do not consider it infidelity. Abby and Aegon are betrothed by outside force, but they aren't committed to each other. They're operating on that 'assumption feeling'. And there's a difference.

I think people are so capable of falling in love more than once in their lives. The idea of 'the one soulmate' is romantic as a trope, but it doesn't always resonate, you know?

I have to tease you here, Anon, because you just chided the other anon for asking for spoilers, and then asked me for a spoiler here! But I will say I already answered this question in the fic! In chapter 5:

And the love he had/thought he had for this person doesn't take away from his depth of feeling for Abby! No one person can be everything, and that's a thesis statement within the story. Aegon doesn't think he can be with Abby, so he was actively trying to move on from her!

Alright, so I'm off work now and went and reread the two posts you guys are referencing. This will be in response to all the anons in my ask box rn.

Idk about you, but I don’t have to think “wow I would write this myself, every word is like it came straight from my brain, it is now gospel to me” to hit the like button on a tumblr post as I scroll. I do it because I found it in someway interesting or relatable. I'm still getting used to ppl even noticing me on here, but I wasn't trying to tell fem!Luke writers they are inherently bad, that's not even what I got out of those posts--if I had, I would have just kept scrolling. I see now quite a few people found me doing that to be hateful though, so I'm happy I could explain my own opinion when someone wanted it. I, again, apologize for unintentionally hurting anyone; fictional characters mean a lot less to me than living breathing humans.

Rereading my tags, people may be mad I put "anti fem!Lucerys"? I usually add anti to things if they're talked about with any sort of critique, just bc I want people who have that tag filtered to not see anything approaching criticism on their dash. (I have anti alicent hightower filtered out, for instance, so it's annoying to me when people don't tag it properly). I like criticism/hot takes for most things lucemond but I know a lot of people don't.

Unlessss it's that I wrote fans who refuse any portrayal but fem!Luke being “weird (not good)"? I was being brief since it was just tags, but was referring to how many people have such a preference that they hate on everything that doesn’t fit their fem/bottom view of Luke. It's weird, it's not good. My fic somehow filtered out most of them by my first few chapters, so I got lucky, but that's always been concerning for me to see in other comment sections. DLDR, ya know?

As for the second post, the part that 'people should just go for Aemondxfem!oc more often' was a controversial statement I wholeheartedly agree with (not that it matters?? people can use the name Lucerys however it pleaseth them). But also I liked their last few paragraphs that reiterate what I’m telling you now—I’m not here to police anyone. I’m not here to force anyone to like what I like or be careful about the things I think are important, or vice versa. This fandom is soooo tropey and polarizing in every way and that's fascinating to me, and I do think some weirdly-prevalent tropes in this ship can contribute to stereotypes when they’re used en masse (honestly I have way more personal dislike for toxic abusive Aemond being romanticized, let's not even start)….but I’ll say it again, my opinion literally means nothing and at the end of the day I more care that people enjoy what they like. I would be a hypocrite otherwise.

Ooh this is a interesting one. And hey thanks for the question (forgo to say it for the other asks oops).

For context: If you don't know who Liz Breen is, she was one of the writers/associate producers of Wordgirl that interacted with fans back in 2014-15 on Tumblr. She allowed for fans back then to ask her things, mostly about characters and insight about the latest episodes. She confirmed some ships and gives her own thoughts about character interpretation. Of course since the show ended she hasn't been active, but some ppl (me) do remember those post and they're probably archived somewhere. Before the resurgences of the fandom, most in the old times have seen her posts as good insight into what ships are technically considered canon--since she did give the full confirmation about TJ and Johnson being a couple and how it was intentional rep, but of course very low-key. Other ships she said are together were (Brent/Ms.Question) and (Hunter/Victoria).

So. Do I personally take what she says as gospel? Hmm no, not really. And I think that's the point. Yes she was a writer and of course she's going to give her very two-cents about ships and characters and it's going to sound more canon from her, but the thing is, is that Liz always encouraged others to only see it as her interpretation and not the end all be all. Plus this is information said on a Tumblr blog and she even has her own Headcanons that is all her having harmless thoughts on the characters she writes, because yes ppl who even work on a show can do that. And for something like Wordgirl I think canon is something very malleable, I mean some people even have popular OCS that are technically not canon and ppl don't care. I always said Liz's posts are never really supposed to be taken seriously, it's her own thoughts and ideas and one piece of a part fans can have if they want to interpret certain aspects of the show.

As for me like, I will die on the hill that gay TJ is real and so is Tjohnson, since I think not only is that obvious in the show but also c'mon you have to admit it makes his character in the long run make a lot of sense and even saves it. Like I will take that on what Liz said about them, but on other things? Like how DTB is in his 50s or that TJ and Johnson won't last until adulthood? Definitely not(/lh), and again that's the point. You can take one thing but also not at all. Like with Question and Brent, I mean... I personally ship them and I like that they're probably considered canon, but I know a lot don't and that's perfectly fine. Plus at this point with the show being off the air for 8 years (like Undertale's bday lol) I think us fans can like do or create things that don't have to follow canon or ideas said by writers/producers. I mean look at the tobecky community, almost every writer in the crew agrees that there's no way it would happen and hey the community is still alive...I mean we're extremely delusional BUT y'know/lhjjj

So it's really up to anyone and me on what we really want to take as a writer's interpretation, especially one that was doing it for fun.

vace is v fun bc even post therapy he’s still kind of The Way He Is you know. (in the pringles jar) and i think on the surface someone who’s easy-going is the easy solution but i don’t think someone who isn’t driven would appeal to him at all? so rather than easy-going it’s like... someone who doesn’t hold what he does against him

i do think it’s extremely funny if at first he dates people who are very much like rex and sol (assuming golden run where he and rex make up wwww) and then later on the person he ends up w/long term is Not Like That. these two things were essentially my thesis statement in making lin  WWWWWWWW

lin is essentially like. i don’t care if you fuck up. i do however care if you just leave the mess behind and in fact i care about that Very Fucking Much, Do Not Do It. a non-therapized vace appeals to him 0 percent past looks. a post therapy vace who is constantly fucking up but trying about it? very much his type. (get help bro)

augment is “clear-headed” -- doesn’t get swept away by his emotions, able to keep a level head in every single situations. essentially, there’s a wall between “him” and “his feelings”. in theory this means he’s got a cool head and is great at problem solving... which is true in practice as well! what WASNT part of the theory was, uh, the fact that bc he’s like that he’s not v good at dealing w/ppl who DO get swept away. kind of isolated from most people as a result but he’s dealing w/it.*

Turning the tables on him suddenly, pinning him to the wall or princess carrying him will get him flustered for a second. A small window of time, but the face before he recovers is priceless. In a more domestic setting, peppering his face with kisses when he's barely awoken also flusters him. Something about getting affection when he's not presenting his best self gets to him. He'll giggle like an idiot and try to push his face in the covers.

Conrad goes all out. Getting a nice spot to set a romantic dinner, perhaps a nice meadow near a cliff so you can see the stars and their reflection at sea. So what if you have to walk a somewhat dangerous road to get there? He'll protect you, so don't worry, go ahead and cling to him~

After that you can enjoy a dance as tiny faerie lights lit in a dreamy way. Or you can go enjoy an impromtu adventure! Either way he'll make sure to escort you home safe and sound with a chaste goodnight kiss by the end. Even if his partner wants more, it's more romantic to leave them craving him.

He has a good amt of experience. Mostly one night stands while traveling, hard to settle for a proper long relationship when you're always rushing to pursue the next treasure legend.

In bed Conrad isn't shy at all. He's very attentive as to what his partner reacts best to and uses it to tease them. Rough and harsh is rarely his style, he'd much rather tease or be sweet and romantic. Holding hands as he kisses the knuckles while praising his partner. Making them feel good makes him feel good, but he won't forget his own needs. They should both climax at least once for him to be satisfied, but more is better-

Conrad enjoys the slow burn! Once he knows someone is into him, he really likes messing with them. i do kinda run on the mean side when im being dominant, it kinda makes me feel a bit bad because i have issues even being fake mean but i just love humiliating my yanderes! seeing them get all red, teary eyed, its just so cute (i say that a lot lol)! besides, its so fun knocking them down a few pegs (sometimes with pegging for comedic sake) via some spanking, a slap, and a healthy dose of degrading! with a healthy amount of consent checks as well and soft stuff to balance it out <3 but i think it would be so funny seeing, say, the sensitive yandere having two darlings (the poor thing can barely handle one!!) where one is fairly mean and very degrading, teasing them for their issues controlling themselves, making fun of how red their face is, overstimulating them a bit and then getting passed to darling two who gently cleans them up and kisses away their tears and coos praises to them! their head would be spinning!

Asher 🌹 Riddle n Asher dont interact much but they dont have any negative views on each other. Neither have different conflicts of interest nor does anything that the other would see as wrong. Asher is respectful towards Riddle n while he thinks Riddle has a bit of anger issues he rather look at his skills as a mage. ♠️ Asher n Deuce have a v good friendship! Deuce loves knowing small bits n pieces of his future like what might happen tomorrow or n 20 years just small mundane things rather than big important things. Deuce has asked Asher to keep anything thats important to himself because he thinks thats to much to know. Asher is very fond of Deuce as he can tell he isnt wanting to know his future for gain but rather a curiosity n to Asher thats very respectable. ⭐ Asher usually has to limit Kalim to no more than 4 questions a day because loves getting his future told n will even ask Asher what he will b doing 5 mins from now. So while Asher loves kalims excitement he cant use his UM all the time on whims for Kalim. Sometimes Asher will tell Kalim small lies like what he will b eating for lunch which Kalim gets excited about Asher future predictions not knowing Asher can smell what food is packed in his lunch box.

Azar 🐍 n  👑 already answered here! ♣️ Azar finds Trey rather boring and unimpressive he thinks Trey could do so much more with his UM than make sweets taste different. Azar also isnt a fan of sweets n baked goods so he doesnt even find his cooking to b something to brag about. While Trey finds Azar a little to much to handle the tiger beastmen is a little to intense for him. Trey rather stay out of Azar’s way n when they r face to face he acts nice so that Azar doesnt get to competitive or see him as a challenge.  

Rusty 🔥 Idia hates Rusty and thinks hes a cheat. Rusty always winning every game he plays even f its his first time not to mention always getting lucky pulls on gacha. Idia just knows hes cheating but doesnt know how to prove it. Rusty isnt much of a gamer but he like everyone else likes to win so he does use his UM to boost his odds he thinks Idia’s reactions to him always winning r funny so he keeps doing it. Rusty has offered to pull for Idia but the other always refuses saying he doesnt need others luck. 🐲 Malleus can tell Rusty is a powerful mage and can sense that he has strong magic he just doesnt know what Rusty is able to do or how strong Rusty actually is. He doesnt buy Rusty’s just a average person façade n knows he concealing his true magic. This makes Malleus very weary of him as he doesnt know who Rusty is or what Rusty is doing with so much magic. Rusty knows Malleus can see thru him so he never uses his UM around him so he wont b able to pick up on it. Rusty isnt scared of Malleus but will pretend to b like everyone else so he doesnt stand out to much and avoids Malleus as much as possible the less ppl who know how strong he is the better.   🐾 Ruggie can tell when some ones lying and Rusty is def lying about something he just doesnt know what. But then again Ruggie doesnt really care much to find out all he really knows is good things happen when Rusty is around so therefore he cant b that bad of a guy. Rusty likes Ruggie n find his uncaring attitude towards his secrets refreshing as he doesnt have to worry about not using his UM around Ruggie. As Ruggie likely wont figure it out exact n Rusty can give Ruggie a little bit of luck to go on his day. N sevens knows he needs it when taking care of Leona.

hii :3 mimi here! im a south asian lesbian that goes by he/star/rose prns. i love reading (specifically fanfiction that’s found family or romantic) and writing (often my ocs in aus together). however, it takes a long time for me to introduce these hobbies irl due to stigma and me having a hard time to trust others in my life (got kinda bullied by so called “close friends” in my life) i got a lot of internalized anger and frustration bc of that, and it only grew at ppl taking advantage of my role as a therapist friend. hence why i act so reserved now, and often push ppl away, in fear of slipping to that slippery stope again. however, with therapy and strong support from my mom, i’ve been getting better and slowly standing up for myself, addressing my anger and past overall. my biggest improvement is my ability to stand up for my thoughts and beliefs, whereas before i’d always conform to what others want. and i think in a romantic relationship, i’d advocate for someone who gives as much as they take. bc i no longer believe i deserve someone who only takes and takes.

What I'm debating on is writing a bully who is a complete villain or fixing his character a bit so he's less of a bully. I won't say what it is because I'm embarrassed rn but the protagonist, neurodivergent, is trying to heal from their trauma and doesn't wanna go through the bullying again. He's also a supernatural. In Recusant Analogs, the most important person to him is Tom. It comes much much later in my bf's universe but Tom is Ashi's future Husband. (I mention both universes bc i love the Polycule but Tom and Ashi aka Crack the sky has a special place in my heart)

-Vin was extremely misunderstood. He wasn't as charismatic as his twin brother was so he came off as meaner and an ass hole at times. This made it easy for his twin to plot the betrayal that sealed him away.

-Vin usually takes on the appearance of a mostly normal person. Most the time his tail isnt even visible. On the inside this man has so much rage and unhinged energy. Hes ready to tear ppl apart at the drop of a hat and will go from normal person to unhinged goo monster in .5 seconds.

-Strike gets emotionally and physically used by people often. (Dont worry they have some really good friends and a supportive bf so they are doing fine). They are easily tricked into these things due to their need to please. They want to do good and want to please people who ask things of them often times this leads to them becoming blinded by whatever task is at hand and not how its affecting them or how they are being treated... often times they even ignore their own bad feelings and keep pushing themself for others until they break.

-Strike usually seems to be a bit stand offish and cold to strangers but if you're their friend you will know they are actually kind of soft. They love flowers and soft things. They aren't even that secretive about it tbh. They just like cute things and aren't afraid to talk about it to their friends.

🥕 [CARROT] How tough is your OC against certain situations? How weak are they against others?

-Strike knows how to really buckle down and become cold when they need to be. When things are tense ESPECIALLY if its storm chaser related they are extremely tough, almost too much so. They are weak against wanting to help people they care about tho, even if it causes them a lot of stress.

but god it just came out of nowhere this small fear. this small concern that first sprouted during some other deeply anxiety fueled misery moment. and now it's all i can think about. it is all i can think about.
