ask game
❤️: What's you favorite ship?
OH MAN UHHHH HMMMMMM hmmmmmm hmmm i ship a lot of things in ninjago hgkjfdshjgfdkj
okay i'm gonna narrow it to three in no particular order
Pixane. they invented love. they INVENTED love
Bruiseshipping. I love jay and cole a lot and their snarky relationship makes me super soft
Polyninja. they should all date each other and i'm Correct they told me themselves while holding each others hands
🎶: What's your favorite Ninjago song?
gonna go with Digital Love for this one, it's sO CUTE and literally a tribute to Pixane which owns my entire soul i love it so much
💎: What's your favorite Elemental Power?
honestly Lloyd's "green" power has always fascinated me. maybe it's because i watched the movie before the show so wu going "green" over and over lives in my head rent free but the idea of your elemental power being life and energy is super cool!
🔨: How many Ninjago sets do you have?
i displayed all my sets in this post but i didn't actually give a count! six sets and two loose minifigures
💭: What's one headcannon you have?
oh i have SO many. the one imma go with for now though is that Kai is the medic for the humans and dragons of the group!
💥: What's your favorite fight scene?
ohhhhhHHHHHHHHHHH OKAY MY FAVORITE FIGHT SCENE IS IN SEABOUND AND IT'S THIS ONE RIGHT HERE
IT MAKES ME SO AAAAA AAAA AA A A A A
THE FURY THAT MAKES JAY LAUNCH HIMSELF INTO THE SKY SPARKING
THE SCENE OF EVERYONE FIGHTING THE MERLOPIANS THAT HAS NEARLY NO CUTS IN IT
PERFECT. 10000/10

I immediately fell in love with your Cabinet Man Au! LIKE IT'S JUST AMAZING!
And if I can ask, how relationships look in there? Like, Nya and Jay getting together? Or is she with someone eles? Or were going with absolutly best gay gay homosexual gay ninjas? I need to know who loves who 😭
AHH I'M GLAD YOU LIKE IT!!!
I've made a small post talking about how I'm handling relationships with the Cabinet Man AU, but I'll talk about it a bit more in depth here!
I personally am a multishipper, I love relationships and shipping so I'm pretty chill when it comes to ships! And because I ship multiple pairings at once, I try to keep romance out of my AUs specifically because I want them to be open for people to enjoy. So for the Cabinet Man AU there is no specific "canon ship" EXCEPT for Pixane in the BG because I love love love Pixane so much LMAO
In particular I'm a huge Jaya and Bruise shipper, and while I could have Jay date both of them in the AU I also like Polyninja and Glacier and Lava so like bhjkdshgkjf i dont waNNA CHOOSE so Jay is particularly CLOSE with Nya and Cole, and he's very flirty with them, but they aren't actually dating canonically in the AU. That way people are free to enjoy any ships they want within the Cabinet Man AU uwu

the man the myth the legend, kai ninjago
Sexuality Headcanon: Bisexual
Gender Headcanon: Trans guy
A ship I have with said character: Polyninjas and Kailor. I also think Hotwire is pretty cute even if i don't see a lot of it
A BROTP I have with said character: Rgb siblings for the win. Lucky for him that he has siblings because i can't remember a single one of his friends outside of the ninjas
A NOTP I have with said character: Greenflame, get that shit away from me
A random headcanon: Even if he's strong he's not visibly muscular, being more of a lean muscle kind of guy. He didn't eat a lot back when he was a kid and while he's way healthier now and not as skinny and scrawny as he used to be, he still doesn't seem to ever be able to gain much body mass. I feel like Jay's parents would immediatly zoom over to his direction and offer him something to eat everytime he visits. Also unrelated but i think his eye scar was from a blacksmithing accident back when he was little, luckily for him he didn't damage the eye itself too badly because man it sure would be hard for too kids all alone to get access to an hospital.
General Opinion over said character: Love his character progression from grouchy guy who hates tecnology to guy who has now learned how to use a phone and is posting thirst traps on tik tok but he keeps accidently putting his thumb in the way of the camera

Same anon as before! 12 (my second lucky number >:3) and favorite book/song/media of choice and why? (Also...any book or song recommendations?☆)
Ooh, good number to pick. My name is Montgomery Brookstone. No, I'm not a fan child, I'm Ninja-less version of Lloyd.
Now, obviously, comic books (in universe), I love the Starfarer series. Chaotic adventures that takes place in space? Sign me up! It was a chance to escape reality when I was in Darkly's, helped me become more immune to things people find squeamish (like blood, mutilation, body horror- I love that stuff because of Starfarer)
My favorite out-of-source (aka, IRL) form of media is a lot of fanfiction and music! Oh, I love music so much! It's so incredible! My music pick tends to be a mixed bag of pop-rock, electronic, and incomprehensible creepy vibes!
For my favorite fanfics, it has to be: atlas by @splinnters (on both here and tumblr, love it so much <3), uhhh this small collection of Dragon Smith Siblings by Itz_frickin_WIMDY because dragons <3, and And They Were Housemates by kooki18 (warning for this one: explicit material in some chapters (MARKED AND LABELED, THANKFULLY), and sexual innuendos). I'll be honest, that last one is because it's an AU for polyninja that's just SO COOL! It's HYBRIDS!
For music wise: WOOSH MAN! Alright! Electronic is just the entirety of 'Just Shapes and Beats' soundtrack (be careful if wanting to watch a playthrough: flashing lights, the game has an epilepsy warning), but I love 'Destroid' by Annihilate (the second to last boss battle song), it vaguely reminds of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is amazing to me. Also love 'Barracuda' by Noisestorm!
Vocaloid is also incredible because- Ahh??? Like?? How?? UGH! I love it so much! 'Bad Apple' SPECIFICALLY covered by Ashe and Rockeetist?? That duo of voice is- mwah. Love it. 'Echo', both original and covered by Jubyphonic are also good. 'Shinitai Chan' also covered by Jubyphonic is good (songs also known as 'Miss Wanna Die'). Annnd there's one mor- OH! 'Amygdala's Rag Doll' by GHOST! I LOVE THAT ONE! The incomprehensible tones and words, the overall vibes that feels creepy and threatening yet comforting and soothing all at once??? Yessss, I love it!
AND THEN! Want to steer away from creepy?? What something powerful??? 'Resistance', 'Rise', 'Not Gonna Die', 'Circus for a Psycho'- All by Skillet! Rockstar introduced me to them, and WOW! You want some good rock music recommendations?? Talk with him, he's your music man! He's more natural voiced rather than electronic/robotic like I am, but it's amazing! Also really enjoy 'Go To War' by Nothing More, THATS a war vibe right there.
Okay, okay- I've rambled on enough! Thank you for the ask!

WELCOME!
Hello and how ya do? You’ve stumbled onto my hellscape. Congratulations! My name is Sweatshirt and my pronouns are she/her. I’m on the asexual spectrum while also a lesbian. I prefer people who are more mature on my blog because of the things that will be talked about and my opinions are not matching to the high majority, so I need folks who don’t give shit to interact with me.This blog is welcoming to people who ship greenflame/ronya/conya/polyninja/or whatever the hell ship you like. I don’t judge and I certainly don’t believe in the aspect of “if your ships are immoral you’re a bad person” ideology. I just want all all to be friends and talk about shit mostly Ninjago related!
Btw, I’m likely to block you if you’re anti-proship because I genuinely don’t like people like you.

What You Will Find
You will find Ninjago fanart, tons of original characters, mostly alternate universes, and much more.
I’m working on a rewrite of the whole Ninjago show within my Royals AU. There is so far only one book out on Ao3. -Warriortheninja
Alternative Universes
ROYALS AU- This is the main AU on my blog. It’s where most of my original characters thrive in. This AU revolves around the same storyline but things are different. For one, Wu and Garmadon aren’t old looking men. They look young (like season 7 flashbacks) and are married to different people. Lloyd is a prince, he has other siblings, there are anthro characters (because they’re much better than drawing human ones and honestly a dynamic between humans and anthros getting along just makes he smile).
Last of Their Kind or LOTKAU: This is where Garmadon (and Mystake) are the last oni in all the Sixteen Realms. Wu is the last dragon in all of Ninjago. Garmadon has pups with his mate Burr (the last Formling in Ninjago) and that’s how Lloyd is around. Lloyd is the main man (or oni) of this AU. Since a young pup, Lloyd loves the idea of meeting humans and becoming friends with them. He gets his chance when the Gang (they don’t go by Ninja) come and camp in The Valley.
Nautica AU: This is an AU where it’s a crossover between Subnautica and Ninjago. Why? Because I was bored and thought it would be fun. This AU is where the Ninja and their young crash down onto a predominantly water world. Nya and Nyad exist as water goddesses in this AU. It’s supposed to be a sweet family thing. It revolves around Jay and Nya’s child, Ara.
Train Zone AU: This AU is basically where Wu and Garmadon accidentally screw things up on their journey and land into my world Craftia and are taken in by Warrior and her crew. It’s also a sweet family fluff thing.
Craftian Wind AU: An Aurawind AU where Morro left Wu and managed to get into Craftia. Gets attacked and unsavory things happen to him, Warrior and her group save Morro’s assaulters before they could kill him. They then take him in and get him to full health. Morro stays with Warrior in Craftia and a romance blossoms between them. It’s just fluff and angst. Mostly fluff though.

More doodles!!
1) Masters of water and fire (Kai and Nya and their parents Ray and Maya plus their grandma's Jia and Sol who, the Masters of water and fire before them (this is just my hc)) (their clothes are loosely based on mayam/aztec and ancient chinese garments since I hc the "fire side" of the family as mayan/aztec/central american and the "water side" as chinese)
2) Some of the outfits I wore on my trip modeled by Nya, Kai and Cole (I was so sad when my favorite pen died,,, I bought it just weeks ago man)
3) Ninjtober day 9: Hunted (god I need to rewatch that season, the polyninja / disaster dad vibes were immaculate)
4) Strangers I saw on a train (a guy who's name was Leonardo (it was written on one of his uni folders)???? That's like the coolest name ever (I'm biased bc I love leo from TMNT but still) and an Italian nun and her sister) + Cole for good measure

Hi! This is just a little bit late, but here is my contribution to the @ninjago-valentine-exchange! I was Polyninja A!
I apologize for any weird formatting errors/spelling/grammar. I wanted to get this out since it’s already a little late lol. I will go back an fix those things, as well as post to AO3 tomorrow :)
AO3 link here
Title: Reunions
Word Count: 4012
Warnings: none.
Summery: Ever since Wu had gone missing, the ninja had been nothing but go-go-go. For months, they had been separated, sent across missions to all the far flung corners of ninjago. After such a long time, Cole is looking forward for a chance to take a break and have some much deserved time with his partners.
“Cole. Cole. Cooooole! Hurry UP!” Jay hops impatiently from one foot to the other. “We’re gonna be late!!”
“I’m coming, I’m coming. Chill out man it’s not like they’re gonna leave if we don’t get there right on time.”
“Okay yeah maybe but I don’t want to be late. It's been so long. We need to get moving.”
“Okay okay, I get it but we’re not gonna be late okay? Promise. We’re already running ahead of schedule,”
“Cole,” Jay gives him a pointed look. There is a frustration in his tone that Cole is all too familiar with. They often clashed about timeliness, and it seems his nonchalant attitude about the situation was once again starting to stress his partner out.
Since the last thing Cole wants is for Jay to start stressing, he relents and picks up the pace a little. Jay was right about one thing at least. It would suck to lose out on even a single moment of time. There already wasn’t enough of it to go around. Besides, he himself had been looking forward to this for a very long time. It was worth getting there a few extra minutes early for once.
In the end they reach their destination a good hour before their planned meeting time. Which would have been fine, if it weren't for the fact they could not check into their hotel because Zane had forgotten to add either of their names to the reservation. Even Jay pulling the ‘we’re famous’ card was not enough. The desk clerk was polite but firm in telling them that just because they were famous, didn’t mean they could break policy. If they wanted, they could either rent a separate room. Otherwise they would have to wait for Zane to arrive.
“What are we supposed to do now?” Cole groans, sinking into one of the hotel lobby’s many couches. Jay joins him, phone already in hand.
“Give me a minute, I’m gonna see where they’re at,” He mutters, typing furiously. A moment later Cole’s phone pings. He pulls it out to see Jay has sent a message to the group chat.
Zaptrap: we are here, hotel staff hates us :( cant check in till u get here
Frosty: Why do the staff hate you? Did something happen?
MountainMan: jay is overexaggerating they dont hate us
u didn’t put either of us on the res
so we cant get in unless ur here or we get another room
Zaptrap: eta? we dont have any money for another room
MasterofFIYA: Bro what the hell did you spend all your money on
Zaptrap: irrelevant
just tell us when ur gonna get here
Frosty: We are a couple hours out still. Kai had a late morning. I apologize for the delay. I will call the hotel and see if I can get it fixed. If not I will send you enough to cover a second room. Please be more responsible with your money, though.
MountainMan: k thanks
you're the best <3
cant promise about the money as long as Jay is here tho
Zaptrap: :( not fair it’s not my fault you read the train schedule wrong and we had to spend all our money on last minute tickets (thanks zane, love you! you're a savior)
Frosty: You’re welcome.
MountainMan: we would have had enough
if u hadn’t bought those action figures
Zaptrap: they were limited edition!
and for the record I blame this room situation on Kai. If u had gotten up on time then this wouldn't be a problem cause you'd be here already
MasterofFIYA: HEY I am innocent! I’m on leave I deserve the chance to sleep in
MountainMan: Jay is just sad cause he misses you
MasterofFIYA: awww babe I miss you too
If you missed me that much why didn’t you just say so?
Zaptrap: COLE HOW DARE YOU OUT ME LIKE THAT
It's true tho I miss you both so hurry up
I don’t want to wait any longer
Frosty: We will do our best to get there quickly.
MountainMan: sounds good
love you all, see you soon
MasterofFIYA: <3
Zaptrap: <3
Frosty: <3
It’s only a few minutes before the chat pings again, this time Zane informs them that they should just go ahead and get their own room, and that he would transfer them the money. Cole lets out a little sigh of relief. Praise Zane and his patience for putting up with them.
————————————————————————————
“Room, check!” Jay drops his bag on the floor, flopping heavily across the bed of their newly acquired room. “So what now? Watch bad hotel tv until they get here?”
“Well if that’s what you want to do, be my guest. I think I’m gonna check out the town.” Cole muses, setting his own bag aside. “I'm too ansty right now to just sit around and wait for them.”
“Hmm okay. Give me a chance to shower and I’ll come with you.”
“Sure thing babe. I was thinking I needed to change and get cleaned up a little before heading back out anyways,”
“Thanks,” Jay smiles. He pulls Cole down to give him a peck on the lips before he stands back up. “I shouldn’t be long,”
The two of them separate to begin sorting themselves out. Jay collects his bag and disappears into the bathroom. Cole starts working to remove his shoes. Once free of those, he swaps his gi for a more casual hoodie and jeans. Next comes his hair. He pulls it out of the bun he’d pulled it into earlier. Most of the time it stays pulled back, away from where it could pose a problem for his visibility or where an enemy might be able to use it to their advantage. Today he didn’t see that being much of a concern so he elects to leave it down.
Satisfied, Cole returns to his previous spot on the bed to wait for Jay. The blue ninja was true to his word and it's only a few minutes before he steps out of the bathroom, dressed and ready to go.
“Ready?” He asks. Cole nods in return. Together, they make their way down to the main lobby and out onto the street. It’s there that Jay decides to link their hands together, leading them away towards the town center.
For a supposedly small town in the middle of nowhere, Cole noted that things seemed surprisingly lively. Merchant booths strung with brightly colored flags line the streets, selling what looks to be just about everything under the sun. There are all sorts of delicious smells wafting through the air, enticing him to stop and look for the source. Music can be heard coming from what he assumes is the town square, which evidently seems to be where most of the people here are headed.
It’s a completely unexpected, but not entirely unwelcome change of pace.
The two of them spend a good chunk of time just wandering, checking out the various shops and booths. He finds that there isn’t anything in particular that catches his interest, so Cole is content to let Jay lead the way.
“Oooh Cole, do you think Kai and Zane will want to play festival games with us?” Jay asks sometime later. He gestures to a row of booths containing carnival games. “That could be fun. Oh! Maybe we should go over there now and win some prizes for them! As a little ‘We missed you’ gift.”
“The sentiment is nice, but you do know those things are totally rigged, right?”
“They aren't when I’m playing them,”
“What is that even supposed to mean you bolthead?”
“I dunno, it sounded cool and mysterious,”
“That’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard,”
“Rude!” Jay gasps. “Bet you won’t be saying that when I win all the cool prizes and don’t give any to you,”
“Somehow I don’t think I’ll be missing out on much. Like I said, they’re totally rigged,”
“Are not! I’ll prove it. You pick whichever game you want and I’ll win. If I win, then you do all my chores for a week. If I lose, then…I don’t know yet but I’ll think of something.”
“Wow, such a motivating offer,” Cole snorts. Too bad they didn’t have time for that. “As much as I love proving you wrong, I think I’m gonna pass this round.”
“Aw you’re no fun. It’s only going to take a minute! Come on,” Jay gives him a hopeful puppy dog look. If this were any ordinary outing, he would not have been able to resist it. But today wasn’t any ordinary outing.
“Later, Bluebird. Did you forget-Gagh!” He is interrupted by a sudden and unexpected weight on his back. Instinctually, he reaches back to grab at what (or who) was attacking him. His hand lands on an arm and with one swift move he flips the would-be assailant over his shoulder. They land on the ground with a heavy thud. Once Cole can see who it is, it takes less than a second to realize his mistake.
“Kai, oh my god! I’m so sorry, you startled me! Are you okay?” Cole scrambles to help Kai to his feet while Jay laughs hysterically in the background.
“Urrrgh, not cool man.” Kai groans, rubbing his back. “That hurt. But I’ll live. Some way to greet the boyfriend you haven't seen in three months,”
“Dude! You just tried to sneak up on a Ninja!” Jay wheezed. “What did you think was gonna happen?”
“Can’t I have a cute surprise reunion with my partners?” Kai crosses his arms defensively.
“No,” Cole and Jay say simultaneously.
“I told you that was a bad plan,” A cool voice sounds from somewhere behind them. “You should be well aware of Cole’s combat reflexes at this point. His reaction should not come as a surprise.”
All three of them turn their attention to the source, and Cole is delighted to see a tall, dark figure making his way towards them.
“ZANE!” Jay starts towards him and then pauses, waiting for the subtle nod of permission. Once it is given, he launches himself excitedly towards the nindroid.
“Jay! It is good to see you!” Zane catches him with outstretched arms, spinning the two of them in a circle. The instant his feet are back on the ground, Jay pulls Zane down into a sweet kiss.
“That is disgustingly adorable,” Kai huffs. “Also totally unfair. Where’s my kiss?”
“Oh, is someone feeling left out?” Cole teases. “Why don’t you c’mere and I’ll fix that for you?”
“I can’t possibly refuse an offer like that, now can I? Even if you did just toss me onto the ground.”
“Hey! That was an accident, and arguably, entirely your fault.”
“It still hurt! Maybe if you kiss it better..."
“If you insist,”
Cole takes Kai’s hand, bringing it up so that he can press a soft kiss to the inside of his wrist. He moves in to press another to his jaw, then his cheek. Kai’s eyes are wide when Cole pulls back a little. It’s far from the first time they’ve done this, but that doesn’t stop the blush forming across Kai’s face or the racing of his own heart. There is a moment's pause, and then Kai is bridging the gap between them.
His lips are softer than usual, but just as warm and just as addicting as Cole remembered them. For once, Kai does not try to take control. (Which is fine by him. There would be plenty of time for that later.) Instead he melts into the bigger ninja’s embrace, humming contentedly.
A string of silent ‘I love you’s’ and ‘I miss you’s’ pass between them. The two of them have long since moved past the need to say such things out loud. He can feel it in the way Kai’s arms wind around his neck, warm and gentle but desperate all the same. He knows Kai can feel it in the way his entire body relaxes, relishing in the warmth the other provides.
“Better?” Cole murmurs, pressing their foreheads together.
“Much,” Kai grins.
“Good to hear,” He smiles back, before breaking away. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches Jay making impatient gestures at them. “Now, as much as I’m loving this, I think there is someone else here who very much wants to say hello,”
Kai turns, eyes landing on Jay. Cole takes another step back and Jay wastes no time taking his place. He takes Kai’s hands in his own, practically vibrating in excitement.
“Guess what Zane just told me?” He singsongs.
“Oh No.” Kai’s face pales.
“Oh yes. You and I have a date with the ice rink tonight baby.” Jay grins wildly. He does not give Kai much of a chance to protest before grabbing his hand and hauling him in what Cole assumes is the general direction of the ice rink.
“Jay! Wait! What about the others…” Kai protests weakly. It’s nothing more than the barest of attempts though. If Kai really didn’t want to go, he would not be letting Jay drag him away so willingly.
“They’ll catch up,” Jay assurse, sparing a quick glance in their direction. Zane nods, winking conspiratorially.
“You go have fun. We will be along shortly,”
“You had a hand in this. I blame you if I break any bones,” Kai huffs, but he is smiling. He gives Zane one last look of fake disapproval before he and Jay disappear into the crowd.
“Somehow, I don’t think he’s really that upset by this development,” Cole observes, stepping forward so he is side by side with Zane.
“I would not disagree with that statement.” Zane replies.
“Do you think we should follow them?”
“Eventually. Give them their time. Kai has been missing Jay fiercely, far more than you or I. Let them have their time, and we can join up with them later.”
“Makes sense considering Jay is the only one who didn’t have a chance to go see him after he was pulled from the roster.” Cole turns to Zane with a smile. “Can’t really complain anyways, because it means I get to spend time with you!”
“Time with you is always well spent, I agree. Is there anything specific you’d like to do?”
“There was a music stand back there that looked like it had some good stuff. Wanna go check it out with me?”
“I would love to,” Zane smiled, gesturing for Cole to lead the way.
The two of them head towards the music booth, where Cole picks out a couple of records which Zane then purchases for him as a gift. They stop to play a few of the games that Jay had pointed out earlier. To nobody’s surprise, they didn't win any prizes. A small dance troupe is performing in a park, so they stop to watch. It’s the most relaxed Cole has felt in ages.
Eventually, they find themselves standing at the edge of the town center. They had planned to find some kind of table or bench to sit for a bit, but it was even busier here than it was near the main festival street. Even with the copious amounts of cafe seating and random benches, they had not been able to find anywhere. Instead they had found themselves standing at the edge of the plaza. It was a little quieter here, and allowed them to take a little breather and chat while still being within viewing distance of the rink.
“So did you know that there was a festival happening here or was that just a coincidence?” Cole finds himself asking.
“I will confess I may have picked this rendezvous point on purpose. There were other places that would have been acceptable, but I remembered that this town had the most delightful winter festival and thought we could all use a break. It has been a rough few months for everyone.” His partner admits.
Cole follows Zane’s gaze over to the ice rink, where Jay was unsuccessfully attempting to convince Kai to let go of the wall. The freshly healed scar cutting across Kai’s face was still jarring to look at, and it was a painful reminder of just how dangerous their lives were. It was exhausting, to be constantly worried about his team. It was constantly weighing on him, now more than ever.
All the more reason to cherish this rare time off together.
“I can’t argue with you there. Things have been difficult. I know I needed the break. Not to mention the fact that I missed you. I love Jay to the moon and back but you know how he gets on my nerves. Some days all I want to do is rip my hair out in frustration.”
“Yet you love him all the same. As much as he means to me, I’m not sure I would be so patient,” Zane chuckles, smiling softly at him. “I have missed you as well. I have been looking forward to these few days immensely,”
“I still can’t believe you managed to swing this.”
“I traded Lloyd. Told him I would cover prison break duty and he’s taking my city patrol,”
“That kid is just non-stop. Probably a good thing he’s back in Ninjago City, things have been slow there. He needs the break as much as the rest of us,”
“What you might call a ‘win-win’ situation. Lloyd is finally taking a break, I get to work with Kai for the foreseeable future, and I get to have quality time with all my partners for the first time in almost half a year,”
“Speaking of which, now that I have you all to myself...” Cole turns, sliding his hands up Zane’s arms until they rest on his shoulders. “Can I…?”
“Kiss me? Of course my dear.”
Cole wastes no time, surging up to press his lips to Zane’s. The kiss is brief, but that doesn’t stop him from relishing in the metallic taste of Zane’s lips.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that,” Cole sighs as he pulls away.
“Hmmm I imagine it would be since the day I last saw you, which coincidentally, is how long I have been wanting it as well,” Zane wraps his arms around his waist, pulling him close.
“Okay so maybe you do know,” Cole concedes. They stay that way for a few moments before Zane speaks.
“May I kiss you again?”
“I’d like that, yeah,”
The second time, it lasts a little longer and Zane holds him a little tighter. Cole shivers. The master of ice was always cold, and the chill in the air only made it colder. It's not exactly comfortable but he doesn’t mind. He’s missed this too much to care about a little chill.
“I love you so much,” Zane pulls away, brushing a loose strand of hair out of his face.
“Right back at you. Don’t tell the others, but I think I missed you the most,”
“I’m honored to hear that,” Zane’s gaze drifts back towards the ice rink. “Now that I think about it, do you think we should go join them?”
“Mmmm no, I’ll leave the wobbling across ice to Kai. I wanna spend a little more time with you,” Cole scans the area, eyes landing on a cider booth. “Let’s go get drinks. By the time we get through the line, Jay will probably have given up on trying to teach Kai. If not, I’m sure he’ll be glad for rescue,”
“That sounds like an excellent plan,” He offers his arm, and Cole takes it eagerly. It’s not often that Zane is so affectionate. He’s going to take advantage of it while he can.
They chat about nonconsequential things while they wait. Cole talks about some of the cool places he and Jay have visited. Zane tells him of a new cookbook he picked up and the recipes he is hoping to try from it. The entire time they do not let go of each other. In fact, they only seem to press closer, trading linked arms for twined fingers and brushed shoulders. It reminds him of their first date. He doesn’t want this moment to end.
The moment does, unfortunately, come to an end when they pick up their drinks and Cole realizes he needs both his hands. He lets out a disappointed little sigh.
“Don’t look too upset,” Zane gives him a little peck on the forehead. “There will be plenty more time for hand holding and such later,”
“You’re right, you’re right,” Cole agrees. He takes two of the four cups, following Zane back towards the rink.
“Hey!” he calls out. Kai and Jay both turn their attention to him. He holds up the drinks. “We come bearing gifts!”
Kai is more than glad for the rescue, scrambling as fast as his poor skating skills would let him get off the ice. Jay follows closely behind, laughing the whole way. Cole and Zane meet them near the exit.
“You guys are my heroes!” Kai exclaims. He eagerly takes the drink Zane offers him. “I thought that was never going to end.”
“Aw come on,” Jay pouts. “ Don’t lie. You had a great time.”
A soft look crosses Kai’s face, and he nods. “Yeah. Yeah I did.”
The two of them share a look so full of emotion that Cole could not possibly hope to understand it. Then, the moment passes and they return their attention to their other two companions.
“So what’s the plan?” Jay takes his drink from Zane.
“There isn’t one.” Cole shrugs.
“Perhaps a break?” Zane suggests. “It was a long travel day for us, as I am sure it was for you.”
“I second that plan!” Kai agrees. “My feet feel like they are going to fall off. I haven’t walked this much in ages.”
Cole finds himself nodding along. He is suddenly reminded of how rough he and Jay had been traveling, and how far they had needed to come to get here. He is tired.
Not long after, they find themselves squeezed onto a bench that is realistically far too small for four people. Cole sits on one end, Kai next to him. Jay is pressed up against Kai, to the point he is practically on Kai’s lap. Zane sits on Jay’s other side, struggling not to fall off.
It’s not exactly comfortable, but Cole didn’t mind. For him, what matters most is the warms of Kai up against his side, Jay’s fingers locked with his, the sound of Zane’s laughter. He had missed this dearly. A little bit of discomfort was a small price to pay.
“I’m really glad we were able to come here.” Jay sighs, downing the rest of his drink. “I was starting to think we’d never all be in the same place at the same time ever again.”
“I know how you feel,” Kai murmurs. “It’s been such a long time.”
“Being separated is something we all knew would happen. It’s part of making sure we can do our duty as ninja.” Zane chides gently. They all turn to look at him. Cole is about to protest the statement when Zane continues. “But that does not make it any easier to be separated. I love you, and I cherish each moment we can spend together.”
There is a chorus of awwws followed by Kai and Jay repeating the sentiment. Cole stays silent, too overwhelmed by the emotion swelling in his chest.
Jay. Kai. Zane. They were all so different. His varied relationships with each of them was proof of just how different they all were. But he loved them all, each just as much as the next. If the last few months had taught him anything, it was that he was not willing to give up a single one of them. Not for anything.
Cole loved his partners with everything he had, and now that they were finally together again, he was going to make the most of each and every moment.

im so sorry man my phone broke and i had to get a new one and i lost all my notes i had to turn into confessions 😭 anyway,,, may i ask what YOUR hcs are?? bc im interested i wanna know
-🌸
for all the ninja or just cole? ya know what, have all of em bestie!!
------
Kai:
- 5'11 so about average height
- Amber Eyes
- Cuban features, very pretty brown skin
- He has a very athletic build. He's tall, and slender, although he's pretty jacked. think of what a marathon runner looks like. Yeah he's got that body type.
-Legs for days.
-BRACES!!! I'm sorry I just LOVE guys with braces and I think Kai would look adorable with braces. Here's my explanation, he has an overbite that didn't get fixed till he was an adult due to obvious reasons, and it caused complications, so he's gotta have braces. He's SUPER insecure about them but his boyfriends (yes I ship polyninja) find them adorable.
-Pansexual. If he finds you hot he finds you hot, no doubt about it.
-Cis male, he/him
-Kai has a naturally higher body temp than normal people, making him quite popular for cuddles in the winter time. Although unfortunately, that means he's absolutely miserable in the summer time. He has to take a lot of precautions in the summer to make sure that he doesn't collapse from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
-SUPER into fashion and fashion design. I headcanon that he had to sew a lot of their own clothes when it was just him and Nya because it was cheaper, and he actually ended up loving it. So, he saved up some leftover cash and bought a couple of fashion magazines sometime in his early tweens/teens, and FELL IN LOVE!! He got invested into he world of fashion, and now he's basically a fashion guru. He's always got an outfit for every occasion, and doesn't mind giving his friends fashion help or advice. He even made Jay an entire Fritz Donnigan cosplay for Comic Con (or whatever Ninjago's equivalent is) -Also my boy can drum! Yeah shocker I know, but for some reason I have always loved the idea of Kai being a really good drummer. I think it's because he reminds me a lot of my friend in real life who's a drummer. But yeah, he's a really good drummer.
-------
Cole:
-------
- 6'2, my mans is TALL
- beautiful dark brown eyes <3
-Indian features, beautiful dark brown skin
-This man is a bear if I've ever seen one. He's big, he's strong, and he's got that amazing dad bod that we all love.
-Gay man
-Cis man, he/him
-He's autistic! He's really sensitive to noise, and sudden loud noises can give him panic attacks. His special interests are art and music theory.
-He has REALLY high empathy levels, and he's really sensitive. He just hates to show it because he was raised with the idea of "Boys don't cry" He's been taught to hide his emotions, so that's what he does. But in reality, he's a really sensitive dude. As time went on, and as he worked more and more with Sensei Wu, he learned that emotions weren't a bad thing. They're what make people human, and over time he became very emotionally mature, and in tune with his own feelings.
- He's got tattoos. Idk what I love about tattoos on guys, but I think they're just incredibly attractive and cool. He doesn't get them to look tough though. He gets them because he thinks that it's a cool form of art, and he wants to take part in it. Some tattoos mean a lot to him, and some he just got because he wanted to put a cool piece of art on his body. His favorite tattoo was the first one he ever got. It's a tattoo of a lily in honor of his mother.
-PIERCINGS!!!!! He's got gauges as well as an eyebrow piercing. He also has snake bites.
-My boy is a really good artist, he just refuses to admit it. He has so many sketchbooks filled to the brim with doodles and sketches. He will literally die if anybody looks through them though.
-AMAZING guitar and bass player. He's never been one for performing, but he loves to play on his own. Whenever he's stressed out he'll pluck out a bass line or a guitar riff, and then all is well.
-Huge poet. He loves to write songs and poetry in his free time, and he has an entire notebook full of little songs and poems. He's been doing it since he was very little, and he often writes in times of distress as a coping mechanism. The only other person he's shared them with is Kai, just because they've been together the longest. All of his poems are very personal to him, and he pours his heart out into each and every single one.
-Yeah, despite being pressured to perform his entire life, he does have a genuine love and respect for the arts. He just hates being forced. He'd rather do things on his own terms rather than being forced to do them, and once he got away from his dad, his love for the arts began to return. Although, no matter how much time passes, he will always hate performing. Although, he doesn't mind making an exception for his boyfriends.
-HUGE dog lover. He feels like dogs just fit his vibe. He likes cats too ofc, he loves all animals, but he loves dogs the most. His favorite type are big dogs you can just wrap your arm around. His favorite breed is the Newfoundland.
- His aesthetic is very grunge. He wears a lot of old band tees and ripped jeans. He also doesn't mind wearing a spiked bracelet every once in a while too.
-His favorite form of expression is music. He loves to listen to it, and he has a playlist for about every feeling, experience, or idea out there.
- He developed his love for soft rock through his mother. When he was little, they'd listen to the soft rock station together whenever they had the time.
-----
Jay
-----
-5'6, he's short lmao
- Jay is very thin, but he's very lean. He was basically made for speed and agility. He's not very strong, but his wits and quick feet easily make up for it. He defeats his foes by outsmarting them, and throwing them off balance.
- Irish features. This dude is as pale as paper in my eyes. If he steps out into the sun he needs to put on like 4 layers of sunscreen or else he practically disintegrates. Although he's built up a real nice tan due to all his time spent outside working on the bounty and other various projects of his.
- VERY green eyes. Very vibrant.
- Bisexual, but no specific preference. He doesn't really care for labels, so he just chose Bisexual for simplicity's sake
-Trans FTM, he/him.
-His parents were very supportive, and he was able to transition young. Nobody knows his deadname, and he's never gonna reveal it.
- AMAZING singer. He's got the voice of an angel. He just hates singing in front of people lol.
-He LOVES pastel kawaii fashion. Lots of oversized pastel hoodies in his closet.
Yeah I don't have a lot of headcanons for Jay I'm sorry :/ I never really got that emotionally attached to him, so I don't really have a lot of headcanons for our boi (Don't get me wrong I still love him tho he's adorable!!)
-----
Zane:
-----
-6'3, the tallest of the ninja.
-Very tall and slender, although very athletic build just like Kai. Think of what a marathon runner or basketball player's build might look like. That's Zane.
-Don't really have a specific ethnic HC for Zane because when I imagine him in my mind, I only really see his robot form and not his human disguise. Like, I just see his titanium robot form but human lol.
- His eyes are fuckin beautiful. Bright electronic blue, and they glow.
-Panromantic Asexual, although not sex repulsed.
-Non binary, he/they
-Autistic! His special interest is birds. He's sensitive to bright flashing lights.
-His aesthetic is very light/dark academia. He loves to wear white button down shirts with beige sweater vests.
-Much like Cole, he's a poet. He loves to write poetry in his spare time, and he loves to read his poems to his boyfriends.
-He doesn't cook because he feels obligated to at all. He just genuinely loves cooking. Cole often times will step up to cook dinner himself, but Zane always says that he can handle it, and that he would rather cook instead.
-Huge bookworm. He adores reading and would much rather curl up with a good book than watch a movie.

Hey idk if you're still doing writing prompt requests, but if u are, I think polyninja movie night would be cute :0
Hello I loved this prompt so much it escaped me and I might have strayed just a little. Lol sorry.
It’s on Ao3 here if you’d rather read it there instead.
Title: A Much Needed Day Off
Words: 1293
Polyninja
No warnings apply, just pure fluff.
“Man, it’s been ages since we had a day off!” Jay groans, flopping onto the couch. “I am so ready for this.”
“I am looking forward to today as well,” Zane agrees. Settling on the couch, he pulls Jay over so his head is resting in his lap, and begins to work his fingers through the soft curls. “So, what do you have planned for us?”
“A movie marathon! Once everyone gets here, at least,” Jay makes a little pouty face that Zane can’t help but find adorable. “Cole gets a pass cause he’s going over stuff with Lloyd so that he and Nya won’t need us today, but Kai is taking forever in the shower! Why does he need to get ready anyways?”
“Because looking as good as I do takes time,” Kai’s voice quips back. Zane turns to see the fire ninja leaning against the open door frame. Dressed in his standard pajama set of a crop top and shorts, he doesn’t look much different than when they’d woken up that morning.
“You always look good. I think you just use that as an excuse to make up for your terrible bathroom hogging ways,” Jay teases. Kai gives him a mock offended look as he makes his way over.
“I’m going to ignore that second part and just take the compliment. Now. You.” He turns to Zane. “I can’t believe you are giving out head massages without me here!”
He just snorts. That was very typical of Kai. Never wanted to miss out on any kind of affection.
“Head massages are for people who get here on time. You will just have to wait your turn,” Kai gives him the same offended look, but nonetheless takes up the free space on Zane’s empty side. He takes a moment to press a soft kiss to Jay’s lips, and then another to do the same to Zane. The nindroid hums appreciatively in response.
“So we’re just waiting on Cole then?” Kai asks once he pulls away. Jay nods.
“Once he gets here, we can play rock paper scissors to decide who gets to choose the first movie.”
Cole choses that exact moment to walk through the door, as if summoned.
“What’s this about rock paper scissors?”
“You’re here! Now we can get started,” Jay sits up, gesturing Cole over. “Someone has to pick the first movie. Obviously, rock paper scissors is the only fair way to decide who gets that honor.”
“That checks out,” Cole agrees. They shuffle around so everyone is huddled in a small circle.
“Usual rules apply?” Kai asks.
“Yup. Me vs. you, Cole vs. Zane. Winners face off. Losers face off, and that will decide the order of decision making. Everybody ready?” Jay looks at each of them, and there is a collective nod. “Okay. Ready? Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!”
Zane does not really understand the point of this game. There is no logic to it. It was, however, good as a fair randomizer. As seen by the fact it was one of the few things he couldn’t reason through, and therefore often lost. Just like now. Cole was grinning triumphantly, rock to Zane’s scissors.
“Sorry Frosty. Looks like you lose this round.”
“I will find a way to beat you at this game someday,” Zane vows, turning to Kai and Jay. “Who is my next opponent?”
“That would be me,” Kai raised his hand. They all prepare to play again, and Zane loses this time as well. He takes it from Jay’s excited whoop that he won his second round.
“Alright. Order has been decided. Me, Cole, Kai and then Zane. Get ready. I’ll set things up,” He hops up, heading over to start digging through the dvd collection.
Now that Jay wasn’t taking up 80% of the available space, Zane takes the chance to readjust himself. He scoots all the way to the end of the couch, which was his preferred spot. Kai moves to follow, only to have his spot stolen by Cole. That was a bit of surprise, but Zane wasn’t going to complain. Kai did though.
“Hey! That was my spot!” he whines.
“It’s my turn to cuddle Zane now. Sorry,” Cole doesn’t seem sorry as he makes himself comfortable. He takes his chance to kiss Zane, ignoring the sad noises their other partner was making.
“Nobody loves me around here,” He grumbles, crossing his arms across his chest.
“Don’t worry babe. I’ll cuddle you,” Jay reassures, returning to them. He and Kai get themselves settled as well. They end up with Cole leaning against Zane, Kai sitting on the floor between them, and Jay on his lap. “Alright. Let’s get this party started!”
He starts up the movie, and to nobody’s surprise, it’s a Fritz Donnagan action flick. They manage to get all the way through the movie without anyone needing to rearrange. Once it’s over, everyone breaks to grab snacks and stretch while Cole makes his decision. And that is what sets the pace for the rest of the day.
Cole’s movie was a historical drama. Kai sleeps on his lap the entire way through it. Zane takes advantage of the opportunity to play with his hair while it was free from its usual gel prison.
Kai picks romantic comedy, and Zane doesn’t really get a chance to watch it because Jay spends the entire time trying to steal kisses from him (and to a lesser extent, the others.) They take another break so Kai can take a quick call from Nya, and then resettle for Zane’s choice.
He has selected a nature documentary that looked rather intriguing. This time around, he ends up on the floor between Kai’s legs, and Jay on his lap. Cole sits just a little ways off, far enough to make it clear he wanted some space but not so far he is isolated. Things are comfortable. He isn’t sure when the last time he felt so relaxed was.
They finish up just in time for Zane to get started cooking dinner. Jay makes it clear he thought the documentary was boring, but it didn’t slip past zane how he’d clutched at a pillow and whispered ‘no, not the babies’ when they’d watched the section on sea turtle hatchlings.
“That was pretty fun. We should do that again sometime,” Cole says as the three of them follow Zane into the kitchen.
“Totally,” Kai agrees. “We deserve more than one day off together every couple months.”
“Zane, you should totally talk to Lloyd about seeing if we can make this a regular thing.” Jay pokes him.
“I don’t see why I should be the one to ask. Any one of you would be just as capable as I am.”
“Lloyd agrees with you more. I think it's because he still sees you as the smart logical one,” Cole points out. He is met by three pleading sets of eyes.
“I have the distinct feeling that I should be offended by that, but...I will consider your request,” He relents. Having more opportunities to spend quality time with his boyfriends did sound nice. “For now, let us make the most of the time we still have. Since you are all here, you can help me prepare dinner.”
There is complaining, but everyone listens when he gives out directions. As the four of them work around each other, joking and laughing, Zane is once again struck by how relaxed he feels. How long had it been since they had been able to be this at ease together? He hadn't thought about anything ninja related at any point that day. Maybe the others were right.
Tomorrow morning, he would ask Lloyd about organizing more of these days off in the future.

SOME random ninjago hc that is in the RTO au
i wrote a lot of hc that fit the RTO au, not necessarily associated with Future and so here we are
it’s long so here’s a summary of the HCs, you’ll find them under the cut
Timetwins childhoods
+ Kronos HCs (as requested by @moonprincess101)
cyrus HC
Pixal HC
couple other than future in RTO
EMs and elemental power in general
Zane & the ICE EM reincarnation
Morro & Ronin sibbling
Nadakhan & Dilara
AGE CHART
Bonus : Pokemon AU (+ doodles !!)
WARNING : LOOOOONG
Timetwins childhoods ( + Kronos HCs)
“Acronix" and "krux" isn’t their birth names, Acronix came up with them when they were younger, as super heroes names after discovering their powers. Krux loved the idea and they kept referring each other as these names. Krux forgot what is original name was, but Acronix still remembers them. i’m guessing that they might use them again after getting back into society
They grew us in a country side village with their mother for a big part of their life, didn't socialized much til their mother passed.  Krux was always overprotective and nix, not having anything else to compare, thought krux directing him was normal. when joining the EMs when the serpentins wars happened, Nix easily became friend with some of the EMs, unlike krux . tho they really did not got along with wu and garmadon
their elemental power was passed down to them by a Unknown Man whom they never met, as he left before their birth, Kronos :
- kronos was the previous user of the time element, he used it for good, preventing some disaster, saving people’s life, Wu knew him well.
- tho he was young when he married and didn't know how what would happen to his power after having kids. he took his power for granted and overused them even for simple task. to him , having powers was normal and sounded arrogant when speaking with other EMs or people in general
.- during his wife pregnancy, he noticed his powers started fading and freaked out, he went to wu, asking for help and learn the truth about what would happen to his powers after his sons where born. he was never seen again afterward.
when wu met krux and acronix, he knew they were related to kronos , but when asking them about their father , the twins would not reply and looks uncomfortable
- his personality shifted rapidly afterward, without powers he went mad, more aggressive, salty, self centered
Cyrus HC
- Cyrus grew up taking inspiration from DR. julien work to build his own tech, he never really expected to become so popular later in his life and sometime feels overwhelmed by it .
- Cyrus is a billionaire, and donate to charity all the time , ninjago doesn't seems to have any problems beside villains attacking time to time, you can expect rich people of the world to be actually helping RIGHT ?
- Cyrus isnt paralyzed, i imagine him more having weak legs motor control that dont support his body weight enough to let him stand, if he did, he would feel dizzy very fast, (this is heavly based on this HC )
it has some hint in the show, but you dont wanna mess with cyrus, he can be agressive toward people that bother him or his loved ones, he will not hesitate to fight the best way he can !
Pixal HC
- pixal was a project he worked on for YEARS, but she was only fully finished at the beginning of S3
- pixal was built to be gender neutral, until she told her father that she wanted to be seen as feminine , and he loves and support her
- pixal is very polite and usually call people by title, unless she knows them personally, she would never call cyrus by anything else than “father”
- when she first got in contact with people other than her father, she found them fascinating, and specially zane, knowing that he was a nindroïd like her.
- she used to have a crush on zane that for a while, felt mutual, until she got dismantled .. she was glad zane found a way to keep her around but as time passed, the lack of physical body, zane becoming colder with her afterward , and him getting closer to cole after the event of S4. made her loose interest, they were living as one but she missed being herself
- ronin was the one who dismantled her, after he captured zane, pixal tried to defend her friend but got destroyed, ronin used part of her body to repair his own . his left arm being partially made from pixal Original body
- she took inspiration from nya’s samurai X mech to build herself a new body
- in the process she developed feelings for nya. like zane earlier in her life, she felt like it was mutual but she isn’t sure the relation is working out, nya and her are spliting and getting back together every month or so
-she is an hopeless lover and tend to crush on anybody that express kindness to her
Couple other than future in RTO
RTO mainly focus on future, but also : samurai, Glacier, Scruff  and A BIT of jaya , in general, the ninjas (minus lloyd) are pretty much all in open relationships with one another and it’s mostly just polyninja but main focus on samurai and glacier
EMs and elemental power in general
- EM lives longer that other people , roughly 120~ years instead of 80 , and that even if they lost their powers
- being an EM can be either genetic or Given .. Powers can be passed down only two ways : a Em can have a kid and during pregnancy, the element will start fading until the baby is born, element will take time to developed in someone’s body , it roughly take 10-15 years for someone to discover their power. however this process inst guaranteed, and some EM’s kid can be born without powers, this is usually the case when only one of the parent is a EM, in case a EM have more kids than powers (eg. twins) the power will either splits up, or one of he kid will be born without powers
- the second option is strong bound, if a EM is dying (or dead) without kids or non of their kids inherited their powers , they can choose a Vessel .. it can be human, creature or any sentient being.
- taking someone’s power away by force CANNOT happen, it’s BULLSHIT.. wu and garmadon simply blocked krux and acronix powers, they are still considered EM and if they wish to, can pass down their powers to someone else , who WILL be able to control it (tho since the power Split up, nix can only pass down slow and forward power) after that, the time blade will lose their powers.
Zane & the ICE EM reincarnation
for his HC i’m going to call the previous ICE EM “simon”  i cant remembrer who named the Ice EM simon, if you know it please lemme know !  i love it tbh
-julien and simon knew each other very well, they were Close friends
- simon knew that julien loved making machine and heard about a new project "zane" a robot that could protect people that could protect themselves, julien loved zane like his son . later in his life after the serpentine wars , simon feeling old, wanted to pass down his elemental power to someone before passing away, and thought julien was perfect, after all they knew each other, but he changed his mind and decided to pass it to zane instead. He touched zane heart and after that, he slowly lost his powers till he passed . neither zane nor julien knew about it, but by freezing his heart, it gave him a part of his soul ( 9 STYLE) ,  a unusual but strong power source to zane, the elemental power of ice and changed his behavior a bit
Morro & Ronin sibbling HC
Morro and Ronin are brothers , morro is the oldest and inherited the wind power, unlike ronin.
ronin loved to provoque people and overall was a little brat. one day with morro, he annoyed a citizen of Stiix, that will later be known as “soularcher” that decided to curse him and his brother
Morro was terrified and fleed, he eventually decided to join wu’s monastery , who adopted him. morro was sure that becoming the green ninja of the prophecy would make him a hero and lift the curse on his soul. he was even more devastated to learn that wu was wrong
on his own ways ronin tried his best to fix his mistake growing up , without much success. falling into robbery, con artist, failed marriage and alcoholism
when morro came back as a ghost, he felt guilty and wanted to fix his mistake but he finally had people like nya and dareth (whom he met at a bar and chatted with him when he was sad) that cared about him and decide to fight for good for once
Ronin had a wife and a daughter a WHILE ago, but lost them . his daughter was roughly the same age as nya and she remind him of her
Nadakhan & Dilara
Dilara and nya are related
Dilara and captain sotto knew each other (family related ;;; OR she was cheating on nadakhan idk but either way she cared about him too )  and she help sotto capture nadakhan and his crew but made a mistake and got killed in the process
Dilara was just there to use nadakhan for his powers but nadakhan wanted her for his infinite wishes so I GUESS THEYre a good pair ???

Bad Boys Like Bad Boys (Bizarro Polyninja)
Warning: Suggestive themes, swearing, suggestive themes... Did I mention suggestive themes?

For my bestest bean whom I love very berry much! @thelucariosfish!

"Ahhh. I'm bored." Jay sighed, dropping down next to Kai on the couch as he played video games.
"Tell me about it. New Ninjago City is fucking boring after a 'great rescue'." Kai says with a glare at the screen, ignoring the storyline to destroy everything and kill everyone. "The people here are always so disgustingly perky after some big villain defeat. Makes me wanna knock some sense into them. Preferably literally." He continued, growing annoyed when there was nothing left to destroy and the amount of people appearing lowered to one a minute.
Now he had to follow the storyline.
Just perfect.
"I'm going out." They both looked up at Cole as he slipped his black leather jacket on, looking badass with his ripped jeans and band tee.
"Out? Where?" Kai asked with an arched brow, tossing the controller aside.
"And without us?" Jay added, sitting up straighter.
"There's a whole city of goodie two shoes people out there." Cole says then slipped his shades down low enough so he can look at them over it. "I'm gonna show them how to really have fun." He purred, red irises gleaming brightly against the black of his eyes.
"Fuck…" Kai swore as he and Jay all but raced to Cole's side.
"You fuck, you know what that look and that voice does to us…" Jay murmured, nosing along Cole's collar as he wrapped an arm around both of their waists.
"You're lucky we wanna hit the streets first." Kai huffed, sliding his shades off so both of their red eyes could meet. "Hmmm we should get Zane too. You know he hates getting left out…" He hummed, pulling Cole down so he could kiss him, humming as Cole squeezed his waist and took control.
"Hey, don't leave me out." Jay pouted, tugging a little at Cole's hair.
"Wouldn't dream of it lightning bug." Cole smirked after pulling away from Kai then taking Jay's lips too as Kai watched, licking his lips as he brushed Jays cheek with his fingers.
"Let me get dressed up and get Zane. It's about time we went out on another date…" Kai grinned, slipping away and sauntering off to his room, chuckling evilly.
It felt so good to be bad…
____________
"Is it me or is Zane having a whale of a time riding with Cole?" Jay says, watching them through the window of Kai's Fire Rod.
Zane was no doubt whispering something in Cole's ear as he drove his bike, Zane's arms around his waist to keep steady. Cole was grinning widely as he kept his eyes on the road, making him look almost crazed.
Man he looked hot.
They upgraded a car they stole after their first defeat from the Ninja themselves. They painted it red, added fire decals and both Jay and Zane added a few… Upgrades to their boyfriend's sweet ride. The same for Cole's treasured bike. Sure Zane had that hovercopter he stole and Jay himself had a mech he made from scratch but on days they felt like stirring light trouble, they just take Kai's Fire Rod and Cole's Earth Racer.
"Looks like Zane has an idea. I love his ideas." Kai grinned widely, activating the spikes on the wheel of his car once they approached traffic.
"I love Zane." Jay hummed, staring at the Nindroid as they rode over the cars in traffic, ignoring the shocked yells and screams.
"Hey! What about me?" Kai huffed, looking across at the pale, freckled male with red eyes glued to the seat of Cole's bike, exactly where Zane's ass was.
"You know I love you too Wildfire." Jay cooed, looking across at him then grinned, revealing glinting fangs. "I love all of you. It's why I won't hesitate to cut a bitch who looks at any of you for too long." He hummed, pulling out his kusarigama, looking at the menacing glint of the sharp metal there.
"And by a bitch, you mean a ninja?" Kai laughed, glancing across at him to grasp his chin. "I hope they show up. I haven't forgiven their Cole for staring at your ass last time." He says, brushing his thumb over his lips then focused on the road again.
"And I'm sure Cole hasn't forgiven their Zane for getting that up close and personal with you that one time." Jay giggled then leaned back with a sigh as they headed for downtown. "Why don't we kill the ninja and be done with it?" He says after a moment.
"Zane says something about the possibility we'll die along with them." Kai says, rolling his wrist. "Doesn't mean we can't play a little rough." He grinned then kicked into high gear, laughter echoing behind them.
_________
The moment the group arrived in Downtown New Ninjago City, people began to scatter and lock up stores. Unfortunately for them, Cole inherited a certain power from his 'good'counterpart recently. It was almost as good as being a ghost for as long as he had.
"Take your pick Snowflake. Today's your day." Cole says as they walked out in the middle of the abandoned streets.
"I've been meaning to upgrade our vehicles and start on a few touch ups to our uniforms…" Zane says as he strode forwards. "There should be a Borg store next to a parts store. I'll need Kai to melt the doors since that'll be more gentler than smashing them. You and Jay make sure to grab a few groceries. We're running low." He instructed, becoming Kai with a finger.
"See you in a few." Kai says, throwing a flirty wink at Cole and Jay before wrapping an arm around Zane's waist as they began to walk away.
He gave a small yelp when Zane pulled him closer instead, hand firm on his hip then purred appreciatively.
"Let's go Lightning Bug." Cole says, wrapping an arm around Jay's neck as said boy pouted.
"Why do we get stuck with grocery duties?" Jay complained as they headed towards a nearby mall. "We were supposed to be having fun!" He growled, irritated.
"Ah ah. Zane said make sure to grab some. He didn't say we couldn't still have fun while doing it." Cole grinned, sliding his shades down and Jay grinned too, smile wide and impish.
He slipped his own shades out of his pocket and slipped it on.
"Let's go cause some mayhem." He purred.
________________
"How long do you think it'll be until the Ninja show up?" Kai asked Zane from inside the Borg store, looking across at him through the melted hole in the wall.
"Any time now really. I really don't care to see any of them. It's bad enough we can't simply get rid of them but the sexual tension they're always carrying around is painful to watch. Honestly, why don't the four of them fuck already and get it out of their systems." Zane says, annoyed as he looked over an engine on display, a small pile of small yet important parts set aside.
"You mean like we did?" Kai smirked, peering at Zane over his glasses as he emptied the storage they had for high speed processors from the display into a bag.
"At least it cleared things up. Pinning is only cute for so long." He huffed and Kai chuckled, moving towards the electronics.
"Yeah, you're right." Kai says then looked over the phones and laptops. "Say babe, do we need new phones? Oh but these laptops are more upgraded than the ones we have back home…" Kai says, reading the details.
"No. Unnecessary. We can update them ourselves if we want. They're an unnecessary load." Zane dismissed and Kai walked over, having everything they would need from that store.
Including extra bass headphones.
"Oh but you want the engine, right? Cole and Jay will be back any second now. We'll have him put in the back of my car." Kai says, pushing Zane's shades up so he could look at the Nindroid's piercing red eyes. "Honestly, we should ditch the shades. I love looking into your eyes." He hummed to the taller male.
"That could be arranged." Zane spoke lowly, pulling off Kai's shades and thossong them aside, Kai doing the same for him.
Kai leaned up for a kiss, his hand cupping the side of Zane's neck as the Nindroid held onto his hips.
"Do we have to witness this everything we fight?" The Ninja version of their Cole interrupted, just as their lips touched.
"Do you have to interrupt every time?" Zane says, shooting an annoyed glare at the three ninja all geared up and ready to fight them.
"Yeah. I mean for fuck sakes you cockblockers." Kai huffed, reluctantly pulling away from Zane to eye the earth, lightning and water ninja.
"Ugh. Can we not do this again? I just wanna kick ass and go home. Is that so hard?" The lightning ninja complained.
"No, but something else might be…" Kai hummed lightly and both lightning and earth ninja blushed as the water ninja facepalmed.
"Enough of this cringefest! Ha!" Nya yelled, shooting water at them and Zane retaliated with black ice, freezing her attack.
"I have plenty more to say, especially to you, stone face…" Kai purred, pulling out two short, red poles that quickly extended into naginatas.
He pointed a sharp tip at the earth ninja as he gripped his hammer tightly, glaring at him.
"You, me and a… Discussion regarding property." Kai smirked, flashing fangs as he twirling the other naginata in hand.
__________
Jay laughed gleefully as he and his rock hard boyfriend walked around the mall, leaving chaos in their wake. They might have broken a few windows, fried the arcade games, sent the escalator out of wack, caved in the roof in the center of the mall, tazed the mall security to unconsciousness…
Well to be fair, it's to be expected when you try to taze a dark lightning elemental…
"What should we do next?" Jay asked excitedly as they carried their groceries and then some as Zane told them.
"We take care of pesky ninja, that's what." Cole smirked, spotting the fire, ice and green ninja 'stealthily' climb into the mall through a hatch in a store upstairs. "So their Zane is with them. Good. I have a… Point to make…" He says, pulling a pole out from his belt.
A press of a button and it quickly extends into a staff, ling, sharp blades snapping put from both the top and bottom of the staff, finishing his double ended scythe. Jay spotted them too and grinned all too widely.
"I have an idea…" He says to Cole who smirked as well.
He loved his little, devious imp.
____________
The earth ninja yelped as he kept just barely dodging jabs and swings of the very sharp blades Kai wielded, a smile on his face as his eyes screamed blood and murder. It was established that they couldn't kill each other but Kai knew the earth ninja knew they weren't afraid to let them she'd blood. His next attack was blocked by the clunky hammer the earth ninja carried but he used the other bladed spear to cut into his thigh, making the earth ninja cry out in pain then push him back.
Kai chuckled as he lifted his bloodied naginata, the look on his face showing he wasn't even half done.
"Uh! Some help?!" The earth ninja yelled, his breath coming out as fog before him as he backed up, Kai walked towards him.
"A little- woah! Busy!" Jay yelled, barely dodging a kunai to the face as Zane kicked Nya back into a pole.
"Ugh!" She grunted once she made impact, groaning as she sat on the icy ground.
"He's smart. I can't use water if every water source is frozen..." She panted then got back to her feet, yelling as she charged at him.
The lightning ninja charged the same time she did and Zane stood there, unphased. He then used his powers to ice over the path ahead of them both then stepped back. Noticing this, they tried to stop but they were already skidding on ice. They slammed painfully into each other where he once stood then fell over.
"That will leave a mark." Zane comments drily.
"Hey, eyes off the goods!" Kai growled, smile gone now as he got really angry. "I'm so sick and tired of you and your lame little ninja squad thirsting over my boyfriends!" He yelled, then rammed the hilt of his staff into the earth ninja's stomach, leave him to collapse, holding his stomach as he gritted his teeth at the wave of pain that washed over him.
"They're mine." Kai hissed, glaring down at the earth ninja with bared fangs as he looked up at him fearfully. "And I'll make sure you never forget that." The smile returned to Kai's face, terrifying the earth ninja even more.
_____________
Jay chuckles as he leaned against the lookout point at the tip floor of the mall, hanging over the court area at the bottom floor, three stories down.
"I love the smell of chaos in the afternoon." He mused, leaning against the balcony, watching the people who hid in the mall as they had wrecked it take their chance to run. "Hmmm. How about I…" With that, he gathered dark purple lightning along his arm, reaching out to where people were escaping.
"Sorry to burst your evil bubble, but it's time for a blackout." Jay turned around to see all three ninja blocking his only escape route.
"Oh the ninja! Whatever will I do?" Jay says mockingly, hands on his cheeks before he giggled.
"Give up! You're outnumbered three to one." Lloyd says as they all took a threatening step closer.
Jay only chuckled evilly, looking at them from under his lashes.
"You didn't think it would be that easy, did you?" He asked them with a purr and they all looked on surprised as a chain connected to a cylindrical weight dropped down from the ceiling into Jay's hand.
He laughed as he was pulled up on the metal beam in the ceiling by Cole. Once he landed safely, Cole punched his hands together, activating his dark lava arms that held dark, glowing purples. He then jumped off and Jay threw down the weight, leaning it to wrap around his leg while he wrapped the chain and sickle around the beam. Before the ninja could even think of escape, he slammed into the balcony, turn it to rubble almost instantly, leaving the three to plummet with a scream as Cole hung safely overhead. He swung himself towards the intact part of the balcony, Jay loosening the chain once he swung far enough over the edge so he could land safely. Cole removed the weight from his leg then stood and watched as Jay ran along the beams, reeling the chain in. He held his arms out to catch him and he jumped down, landing safely in Cole's strong arms.
"Nice work lightning bug. It worked perfectly." Cole praised as he held him bridal style and Jay giggled.
"Was there ever a doubt?" He asked then pressed a kiss to his strong jaw. "Now let's go. We've had our fun for today." Jay says as he slipped out of Cole's arms.
The duo made their way downstairs, picking up their bags then paused to look at the unconscious trio. Lloyd had a large chunk of concrete on his arm that was already bent at an unnatural angle.
Tough luck.
"Lloyd will be feeling that for a few weeks." Cole hummed as they continued on their way out.
"Yeah but he'll really feel that broken arm in a few minutes." Jay grinned then paused. "Why haven't we got rid of the kid yet?" He asked, curiously.
"Same reason why we haven't gotten rid of the girls. It'll make the ninja persistent and persistent ninjas are annoying ninja." Cole says drily. "I wouldn't forgive myself if I accidentally killed one of you by killing one of them out of annoyance." He says, glancing at the shorter, freckled boy who looked at him touched.
"Aw Cole…" He says with a smile and Cole nudged him gently, a smile on his face too.
"Let's hurry it up. It's safe to say where the other ninja are…" He told Jay and they hurried back to where they parked, dual grins lighting their faces as a pained scream echoed from inside the mall.
__________
"Ugh. Gross…" Nya says with a grimace, rubbing her forehead where a bruise was already forming.
Both earth and lightning ninja openly stared however, their faces red. Before them, Kai was making sure they never forget 'they were his'. By having Zane kiss him senseless. Kai could only cling to Zane's white leather jacket as he took full control, using his grip on his hip and hair to hold him steady. Zane kissed his red faced boyfriend as if they were alone, pulling the cutest sounds out of him as he delved into his mouth.
"Looks like some people are having too much fun…" Zane peered an eye open lazily, still reducing Kai to putty in his arms. "But I gotta say, you two make a pretty sight." Cole purrs, walking over from Kai's car, their load in the back.
"Kai wanted to make a point." Zane spoke after finally pulling away from Kai's lips, making the dark fire elemental whine, biting Zane's synthetic lip.
Unlike his counterpart, he liked his synthetic skin.
"Well, you can't make a point without all of us." Jay hummed, moving towards Kai.
Kai didn't waste time, eagerly kissing the dark lightning elemental, purring to respond to the shorter male's. Cole took Zane by the waist, the Nindroid looking up at him defiantly, daring him. Cole smirked then kissed him, both of them immediately fighting for dominance. Cole wouldn't go down easily.
Nya grimaced as her two idiot teammates watched, their wildest dreams acting out before them. By the First Spinjitzu Master, they were idiots. She looked around for a way to stop them but then noticed: the ice was melting, leaving water behind. This was good. While they're distracted, the ice will melt and give her all the water she needs to attack! But how long will they be distracted for?! She looked behind when she heard rapid footsteps and saw her Zane and Kai run over- But where's Lloyd?
"Guys-!"
"Lloyd's hurt! We already have help on the way. He's in the mall." Kai told her and she didn't wait for another word, taking off into a sprint towards the mall.
She knows for a fact they'll get away- again- but right now, Lloyd is more important.
"You guys alright?" Kai asked his fellow ninja as both he and Zane helped their Cole and Jay up.
"Uh. Yeah. Just uh, knocked around a bit." Cole says, still slightly hunched over.
Jeeze, how strong are these assholes?
"Ok. Let's-" Zane cut himself off once he actually looked at their opposite selves, his mouth feeling drier than the Sea of Sand.
His bizarro self was looking right at him through half lidded eyes, with Cole kissing him deeply while Bizarro Kai and Jay having their own fun. Kai… Swallowed thickly, knowing that this was definitely added to night time fuel.
Don't they need to breathe though?
"Cole." Zane spoke, pulling back from the dark earth elemental's lips. "See that parts shop? There's a very interesting engine inside with parts gathered next to them. Get them and put them in the trunk for me." He told him and Cole smirked then nodded, stealing another kiss before leaving.
That snapped the group of ninja out of him.
"Don't let him take anything!" The fire ninja yelled and they all charged- only to be stopped by a large wall of dark purple and black flames.
"Hmmm, I don't think so." Kai purred, stepping through his flames. "You know as well as I do how this goes down. We fight, nobody beats anyone, we escape, we win." He says to the ninja who held their weapons firmly, glaring at him.
"Honestly you're all better off finally doing something about all that sexual tension. Fuck, date, something." Kai says, annoyed then settled a hand on his hip. "Zane was right. Pinning really is only cute for so long. This is well past annoying, bordering to pathetic now." He says, looking at them with a grimace.
"How about you shut up huh? You're all talk and no action!" The fire ninja yelled and Kai snorts.
"Oh believe me. I get action. Plenty." He purred, smirking as they all simultaneously blushed before charging.
"Ice!" The white ninja yelled as Kai deflected the other three's attack.
"Fire! He yelled, shooting a dark fireball at his ice, melting it on impact.
The lightning ninja took his momentary distraction to strike- only for his lightning to clash with dark purple lightning, both fizzling out on.
"Hmm. You guys are boring." Jay says with a blank expression, hands charged up with lightning.
"All together!" The white yelled and they came at them again.
Jay only put his hands into the water left over from Zane's black ice, sending his dark electricity pulsing through them, putting them to the ground immediately. Luckily for them, he only had intentions to stun, not damage.
"We have everything we need." Zane called out as he walked over to where Cole was, on his bike.
"Playtime's over." Kai grinned before both he and Jay took off running, laughing as they hopped into Kai's car, the car taking off seconds later behind the bike.
"Stop- them!" The lightning ninja yelled, affected by the negative energy as well.
"We're already too late." Cole says, looking over the wound on his thigh. "By the time we get to our vehicles, they'll be long gone." He says, wincing a little, realising that it was pretty deep.
He might need stitches…
"Dammit! This always happens!" Kai growled angrily, slamming his fist into the water then grimacing at the wetness.
"I mean, it's one thing to be evil versions of us but what's with all the PDA? I mean, come on! We get it! You're all together!" Jay yelled, jealousy bleeding into his voice.
"Yeah! And what the hell is up with them making out in front of us like that?!" Kai yelled bitterly.
"And what's with all the quips at us? I mean, they're not the only ones who can have a relationship like that!" Cole huffed.
"The relationship they have is borderline psychotic however. It works for them but it would be a lot different for us." Zane spoke up then blushed blue, realising what he was implying. "In- er. Theory." He added, looking away.
"You're right. I mean, I'd like to think that our relationship would be a lot less… Aggressive. Gentler is better. You know? Cuddling, dates…" Jay says softly, a small smile tugging his lips as he imagined it.
It warmed his heart to think about it, to imagine it.
"Quiet talks, hand holding…" Cole added just as quiet.
"Laughter, support…" Kai whispered, looking at his reflection in the water.
"Happiness… Love…" Zane says, unconsciously reaching up to clutch his hand over his heart.
"Sounds…" Jay says then trailed off.
"Nice." They all said then looked up at each other, wide eyed, blush slowly staining their cheeks.
"I swear to Lord Garmadon, if they don't fuck off with the pinning and sexual tension I might just punt them as far as I can throw them." Bizarro Cole says as they watched from a nearby alleyway.
"Let's go. That was so disgustingly cute I think I have cavities." Kai says drily, hopping back into the car, Jay sliding into his seat across from him while Zane sat behind Cole on the motorcycle.
"Hey. Do you think they feel it when we.. You know." Jay asked as Kai started up the car.
"I fucking hope not." Kai grimaced then took off behind Cole and Zane, heading home.

(You guys would not believe the shit my brain put me through. I'm,,, probably not gonna have Move on Dragons done anytime soon. It's,,, Hella long. I'll post in-between though! But story related stuff:
In this Au, the Bizarro Ninja weren't destroyed. Only defeated. The only way to kill them would be for one of the original ninjas to die.
With that, they don't feel the pain or whatever their good counterparts feel. If one of the ninja were supposed to break a leg for example, they wouldn't feel the pain of that but they would find walking very difficult. When Zane dies in season 3, Bizarro Zane went offline until he recreated his body as another example. It's mentioned in there but when Cole became a ghost, so did Bizarro Cole.
Point is, only critical injury/changes in the Ninja affect the Bizarro Boys. Same in reverse. (Also, they don't listen to Garmadon because he's not the same Garmadon that created him. The current Garmadon's entire physiology changed so it's as if he's a completely different person. They live by their own rules now.) I hope you guys liked it!)

everything up ‘til yesterday was a prologue (a polyninja fic) - chapter 7
Read this from the beginning
Kai finds Zane slumped against the back porch wall in the morning and almost drops his cup of orange juice out of surprise. The other man is sleeping with his neck bent over in a painful-looking angle, but he seems to be at peace. Next to him is something Kai recognizes immediately as Cole’s hoodie. He figures maybe they had a chat at one point in the early morning before Cole departed. Zane has always have the habit of waking up at odd hours to do random things, so he’s used to it by now.
But sleeping outside like this with barely any covers, especially when the weather’s turning cold…
Kai shakes his head and goes to wake Zane up. He kneels down next to his friend and nudges him gently on the shoulder. When Zane’s head lolls to the side and rests on top of his hand, he resists the urge to keep it there and nudges him a little harder. Zane wakes up immediately, blinking at him in a daze before his mouth opens to a wide yawn that has Kai yawing in return.
“Mornin’, sleepyhead.” Kai grins when Zane yawns again. While the other man stretches his limbs and grumble, Kai goes back to finish his daily dose of vitamin C.
“What time is it?” Zane asks, his words slurring as he heaves himself up from his uncomfortable position. Kai doesn’t comment when Zane also picks up Cole’s hoodie and tucks it under his arm.
“Seven something.” Kai answers, taking his phone out of his pocket to check the screen. “I’m gonna head out for a jog. Care to join?”
“I’m good, thanks.” Zane mumbles as he plops himself on the couch. The moment his butt hits the soft cushions he droops again, squishing his face against a pillow.
“Rough night?” Kai jokes as he passes by Zane to get to the front door. He pats his pants pockets to check for his keys, wallet, phone, and earbuds and is satisfied that all those items are there.
“Mmm…” Zane hums into the pillow, his voice slightly muffled. Kai just laughs lightly at that as he opens the front door.
“I’ll see you in a bit?” He asks while slipping on his jogging shoes. Zane just lifts up an arm to wave at him, but that’s still a definite answer in his book. Satisfied and not at all bothered by Zane’s weird sleeping habits, he closes the door and heads off, taking in a deep breath of fresh morning air.
“Time to get used to the neighborhood.” He mutters under his breath and slips on his earbuds. The first track of his playlist blares out a steady drum beat and he sets off down the sidewalk of the cul-de-sac.
When Zane wakes up again, it’s to the smell of slightly burnt toast and eggs. There’s also the sound of Jay singing along to some pop song on his speakers, but Zane has always been one to notice culinary disasters quicker. He props himself up on his elbows and finds himself tangled with Cole’s hoodie and one of Jay’s many nerd blankets. This one’s definitely from Star Wars, he thinks to himself as he gazes upon RD-D2 wearing a christmas hat.
“Then you’re left in the dust,” Jay murmurs to the song, wiggling his hips as he spreads peanut butter on a slice of toast, “Unless I stuck by ya. You’re a sunflower; I think your love would be too much…” He trails off, taking a huge crunching bite of his breakfast before turning around just to see Zane climbing off the couch. “Oh, Zane! Good morning! I made us breakfast!” He speaks through his mouthful.
“I know.” Zane walks up to the counter to check out Jay’s breakfast spread. “I smelled it.” The toasts aren’t burn that bad. It’s just a couple of them that goes too brown on the surface. The eggs on the other hand look pretty good. Jay clearly knows how Zane likes his eggs scrambled with salt and pepper on the side. “Looks great, Jay! Good job!”
“You know I can cook at least a little, right?” Jay takes another bite of his toast and pushes the peanut butter jar over to Zane before taking a seat next to the counter. Zane gracefully denies the peanut butter. Instead he scoops some of the scrambled egg onto a slice of toast.
“I know you can, Jay.” Zane smiles, rubbing at the corner of his eyes. “Thanks for the blanket and the food, by the way.”
“Naw, it’s no biggie.” Jay shrugs. “You needed the sleep anyway. Don’t make me remind you that you’ve been the one to coordinate most of our moving process.”
“I still could’ve done more.” Zane takes a bite of his toast and hums. The soft eggy taste overpowers not only the burnt smell but also the bad morning breath that’s developing in his mouth. Jay’s really been practicing, he notes. Even when they were still living in the dorms, the brunette has always been one to take on massive projects just for the heck of it.
“How’s the egg?” Jay asks, feigning disinterest by casually sipping his coffee, though Zane knows better than that.
“It’s delicious. Thank you, Jay.” Zane gives him his best smile and watches as his friend puffs out his chest with pride.
“Well, eat up, then!” Jay says, putting his coffee back on the counter. “We still have a lot of things to do today.”
Jay may have said that, but to be honest it’s mostly just more unpacking for both him and Zane. He takes a survey around his room and groans at the sight of boxes underneath his desk. This house may be theirs right now, but it’s still for rent, even if their parents, especially Zane’s have promised to cover their first couple months. Dr. Julien’s friend who owns the place even allows them to repaint the walls and move around the furnitures, so there’s that. Despite the impermanence of their stay, Jay still wants to make a home out of this place.
The first couple nights here he has already unpacked most of his clothes. Since the weather is getting colder, he has no need to touch any of his summer outfits, but he’d rather get them all lined up in his closet than leave them out. He sighs and goes to work, haphazardly throwing his underwears and socks on top of his unmade bed. The box of summer clothes is full of shirts and pants he’s shoved in during the move. All of them are wrinkled and tangled amongst each other, so when he pulls one shirt out at least a couple follows. He can already hear the nagging voice of his sensei, telling him to have discipline even in the way he organizes his things.
“Shut up, Master Wu.” He grumbles under his breath as he yanks a blue tank top out of the box, the force of it sending him stumbling back a bit. “You’re not even a dojo master anymore. And I’m living my life just fine.”
Even when he complains, there’s still a twinge of nostalgia when he pulls out his old martial arts uniform. All of his friends have graduated already, but Nya and Lloyd still want to stay as instructors at their master’s old dojo. Lloyd’s definitely going to take over as soon as his father retires. He frowns at that, rubbing at the texture of his uniform. Just thinking about them makes him miss them dearly. He misses the dorms they used to share. He misses the communal kitchen and the training grounds. He even misses tea time with his sensei where the entire team would just hang around, drinking tea and sharing stories.
Driven by nostalgia, he brings his uniform up and takes a deep breath, inhaling the scent of musk and dust and lingering detergent. But the sudden overwhelming scent of mildew throws him off balance right away. He blanches, making a face at the stink of his cloth. He proceeds to sniff the rest of the clothes in the box, each item reeking of mildew to the point that he feels a little lightheaded. There has to be a source, he concludes, plunging his arms deep into the giant bundle of fabric. When he manages to pull out a couple beach towels that still feel damp in his hands, he decides that he regrets his awful lack-of-discipline in packing clothes.
“Time to do more laundry.” Jay brings the towels to his nose and almost hurls. “And throw these away.”
Five minutes later, Jay finds himself back in the tiny laundry room again, dumping the entire content of his box into the washing machine. Zane hovers by the entryway, looking rather exasperated.
“I told you many times before that you shouldn’t pack damp clothes with other clothes. They will not absorb and dry overnight, especially with airtight containments.” Zane says, and Jay can feel his own eyes rolling hard at his friend’s criticism.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Jay stuffs more of his clothes into the washer, but they end up spilling out onto the floor tiles. “I made mistakes; I learned.”
“I hope you do.” Zane comes over and starts picking up the clothes on the floor. Peering inside the washer, he frowns and starts dragging more clothes out, much to Jay’s indignation.
“Hey, what gives?” Jay complains as Zane shoves his dirty clothes back into his open arms.
“You’re stuffing the washing machine too full.” Zane says, dutifully pouring the laundry detergent into the correct slot. “Your clothes will not get properly cleaned, and you can overload the machine.”
“Huh, didn’t know that before.” Jay mumbles. When Zane shoots him a deadpan look that makes his ears warm up, he just splutters. “H-Hey, don’t blame me! I’m just doing what I usually do.”
“That explains a lot, actually.” Zane sighs, turning on the washing machine. “Just split the load and you should be alright. Did you make sure that the box only contains your clothes and nothing else? No money, no weird electronics?”
“I’m 99% sure, I think.” He pauses to listen to the washing machine as it fills itself up with water. “Yep, I’m sure.”
Zane shakes his head and heads back into the kitchen, and just as he passes the entryway, there’s a huge clang that shakes the entire machine. Jay stares wide-eyed as multiple clangs are heard, until the machine putters out with a dying groan. Zane steps backwards into the laundry room and levels a cold stare at Jay, who can already feel himself sagging thinking about having to fix a washing machine on his free day.
“You said you were sure-” Zane begins.
“I knew what I said.” Jay cuts him off, rolling up his sleeves. With a deep heave, he yanks open the washing machine door and peers inside. His clothes are still soaked deep with water, but it seems the water itself is not receding.
“Something’s blocking the pipe.” Jay tells Zane who rolls his eyes at him.
“Clearly.” Zane sighs, but he also rolls up his sleeves and comes up to look inside the washing machine. “There’s still a lot of water in here. We might have to remove the machine and bring it outside. Then we can dump the water and clothes out before we fix anything.”
“Hey, how about we don’t dirty my clothes anymore than this, and instead remove them first before we have to haul this 200 something pound washer down the porch, huh?” Jay snipes back, getting agitated at the situation.
“That is a better solution.” Zane hums, stepping back to look around. “I’ll get you my plastic laundry container. The cardboard box is useless at this point.”
“Please hurry, then.” Jay replies, peering back inside the washing machine with a forlorn sigh.
After dumping all of Jay’s clothes into Zane’s container, Jay finds himself wedged between the washing machine and the wall, trying to unplug the machine and also unhook it from the pipe without spraying water everywhere. After five minutes, he stands back up and cracks his back noisily. Zane’s already outside with the container of clothes, basking in the warm midday sun. Jay peers outside the window and watches as his friend wrings each item of cloth over the railing.
“Hey, Zane! A little help here!” Jay calls out, already squeezing himself out of the corner. Thanks to his years practicing martial arts, especially with nunchucks, he does have pretty decent upper body strength. With a slight wheeze, he manages to push the washing machine out of it’s spot. Zane quickly comes to his aid, and thanks to built-in instinct from years of training together, both of them pick up the machine without much fumbling. However, Jay notes as his arms start to slip, they didn’t account for the added weight of gallons of water churning inside the machine. Before he can potentially crush his own foot, he hops away, and his side of the machine tips and lands with a reverberating bang on top of the tiles. Zane curses under his breath and sets his side down with much less noise.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” Zane hurries to Jay’s side and checks him all over. Jay laughs under his friend’s fussy touches, but when Zane tries to pull his leg up to check on his foot, he has to swat him away.
“Chill, I’m okay.” Jay rolls his shoulders. “Let’s try this one more time. I just slipped a bit, but I should get a better grip if we lift it by the bottom line.”
“It’s still gonna be pretty heavy.” Zane worries his bottom lip. “If we don’t do this right our backs will suffer.”
“C’mon, Zane.” Jay wrings his hand before squatting down to grip at the protrusion towards the bottom of the washing machine. “I’ve carried Kai bridal style before. If we split the weight between us it wouldn’t even be any close to his weight.”
“I guess you’re right. Still we gotta be more careful.” Zane squats down as well, and with another heave, both of them bring the washing machine up, gingerly timing their steps to each other’s to not have anymore accident. It takes them a while to get out of the door and down the steps of the back porch, but the moment they make it to the grass Jay feels gratification welling up inside him.
They set the machine down and get to work, tipping it over to the side first to drain the excess water. Once they’ve made sure it’s safe to check, Jay, being the smaller of the two, wriggles his torso into the machine to check for problems.
“I cannot believe it.” Jay says, his surprised tone echoing within the machine. Zane, who’s been waiting for his friend’s update outside of the machine kneels down next to it.
“What’s wrong?” Zane asks. “Is there a wire loose? Are there any coins stuck in the cracks?”
“Nothing like that.” Jay wiggles himself out of the opening and sits up, triumphantly holding up a keychain that has wrenches of multiple sizes dangling from it. “It’s my wrench-chain! It must’ve lodged itself into the water pipe and scrambled it up!” He wipes the wet wrenches against his shirt, clearly delighted. “Oh man, I’ve been looking for this since forever!”
“Jay…” Zane warns, crossing his arms and leveling him a disappointed stare. Jay feels his ears burning again under Zane’s gaze and scratches at them, trying not to meet his friend’s eyes.
“Oh, yeah, sorry.” He grins, feeling rather foolish. “I should’ve checked the box before dumping everything in, huh?”
“And?” Zane raises an eyebrow. Even if Jay knows that nobody wants to disappoint Zane because he’s a magnificent human being, sometimes he regrets teaching Zane how to sass people. He harrumphs and stands up, dusting off the dirt from his knees.
“And I’ll never destroy any household items again.” Jay says, crossing his heart with one of the wrenches. “And I’ll fix the washer right away. Right after I go grab my tool kit and flashlight.”
Zane sighs again, shifting his weight to one leg. “Alright. I’ll see what we can do with your wet laundry. Maybe we can do it the old fashion way and wash by hand.”
“That’s awful and you know it.” Jay sniffs. “Clearly we have developed all this technology to help us with our daily activities. Also you know that detergent is bad for your skin.”
“Well, I would use the washer if somebody hasn’t broken it with his tools.” Zane rolls his eyes back at Jay, who just sticks his tongue out at him and stomps back into the house.
Jay doesn’t like thinking about guilt. Sure, everything that came out wrong today was entirely his fault. He shouldn’t have put damp towels into his box of clothes along with the wrenches. He should’ve taken better care of himself and his belongings, so that his shirts wouldn’t smell like mildew. He should’ve checked before dumping the entire load into the washer, and now it’s broken even though they’ve just moved in two days ago.
With a souring mood, Jay stomps up the porch and yanks open the screen door, kicking his shoes off to the side. The moment he enters the house his eyes immediately goes to the cobweb cracks on the floor where he has dropped the washing machine. Frustration wells up inside him and he rubs at his eyes tiredly.
“Fucking hell.” He mutters, setting the wrenches aside to check on the cracks. There are already pieces of tiles broken off to the side, showing the hard cement underneath. Jay grumbles under his breath, chastising himself as he picks up the tiles to set them aside. A little cement should do the trick piecing these back together.
When he’s picking up one of the larger cracked pieces, something catches his eyes. There’s an outline of a circle that had probably been spray painted onto the cement. Surrounding the outline is a sliver of something that looks like a symbol. Belatedly, he recognizes it as a voodoo symbol. With his curiosity getting the better of him and his annoyance fading into the background, he starts picking harder at the edges of one of the broken tiles. When he lifts up the piece, more of the circle is revealed. There are layers of symbols and inner circles in there. He realizes, feeling a shiver of dread racing down his back, that this is definitely what Cole talked about.
This was the thing that took Cole’s life.
“Zane?” He squeaks out before clearing his voice again, trying to hide the sudden rise of panic that’s going up his throat. “Zane! You’ve gotta see this!”
“What?” Zane hollers back from outside.
“This is really important, Zane!” Jay pokes his head through the doorway and gestures frantically at his friend. “Come quick!”
“What is it, Jay?” Zane steps into the laundry room, and before he can continue with his question Jay grabs his sleeve and pulls him down to Jay’s level. He points hurriedly at the symbols and watches as understanding dawns in Zane’s eyes.
“Oh.” Zane says, blinking at the cracked tiles.
“Yes, oh!” Jay kneels down next to the tiles. “I never thought this thing still exists! Cole mentioned this before, remember?”
“Yeah, I remember.” Zane squats down next to him, fingers tracing the outline of the circle. “I thought they would have cleaned it up when they were refurbishing the house. This is the weird cult circle that Cole was told to draw.”
“Man, I have chills just looking at this.” Jay bites his lips. “Maybe we should leave it here ‘til Kai gets back.”
“We should text him beforehand, though.” Zane stands back up to fish his phone out of his pocket. “And probably contact Morro, too. This is a huge clue to solving our problem. If we manage to figure out how this works-”
“We can reverse-engineer it and get Cole back!” Jay continues his thought, snapping his fingers at the revelation. “Zane, you’re a genius!” He nudges his friend, who smiles back warmly at him.
“You know this house is not technically ours yet, right?” Zane asks, the warm smile still bright on his face. Jay immediately feels his heart pummeled back to earth. “Even though this is a great discovery, I wouldn’t say that breaking the tiles is doing us any favor in securing this place for long-term in the future.”
“Aah…” Jay stands up awkwardly, cowering under Zane’s icy stare. There’s a beat of silence, and before Zane can react, the smaller man pushes past his friend and sprints at full speed out to the backyard. Zane yelps in surprise before chasing after his friend.
“They’re new tiles, Jay! New! Tiles!” Zane shouts, and Jay can only scream back as they run laps around the backyard.
By the time that Kai’s snapped out of his casual jog, he realizes that he’s hopelessly lost. The midday sun is beating down on his bare head and shoulders, but the cool autumn breeze relieves the heat somewhat. At first, he has started the day out with the intention of exploring the neighborhood a little further. He eventually found a park and spent a nice hour jogging around the area. Then, he jogged over a bridge and into another residential area at one point. The area was higher-class than where their house was, so he spent a good amount of time wandering around the blocks. He even spotted a couple hipster coffee and boba shops along with some nice looking eateries.
Now he’s standing in a park that’s completely different from the one he went to earlier with the GPS app open on his phone. The time is almost eleven, and already he’s been getting texts from Zane and Jay asking where he is. Knowing that they’d make fun of him if he tells them he’s lost, instead he simply says he’s on his way back. The GPS does say it’s gonna take him half an hour to walk from this park back home. That’s not too bad, he thinks to himself. Though he doesn’t really understand how he’s managed to wander around like this for almost four hours.
“Aaah, the phone’s battery is down, too.” He mutters sulkily, cradling his phone in his palm. He’s been jogging with his phone plugged in to listen to music, so the battery’s been steadily dropping. Not only that, using data really hurts it in the long run, too. He checks his phone to see the directions to his house, noting the 20% charge it has left. With a sigh, he runs his hand through his sweat soaked hair and follows the GPS. Hopefully he’d make it home before his phone dies.
But he doesn’t.
It’s actually not because the battery drains too quickly. In fact, Kai’s always been cautious whenever things like this happen. It’s a habit that has been instilled into him by Nya and a little bit from their childhood as well. Due to them growing up without their parents around all the time, he and his sister were forced to learn how to fix things by themselves. Electronics, toys, and books, they all had to keep them well. But that doesn’t mean that on his way back home, Kai doesn’t stray into electronic shops and cafes. This is a new place, after all, so he keeps finding himself pausing by different assortments of shops. There’s a really nice looking bar that he wants to check out once everything’s settled. There’s also a couple electronic places that looks pretty decent. Everywhere he looks reminds him of an aspect of his friends and family, so it’s not totally his fault that his phone dies the moment he just enters the neighborhood where his house should be. Now he can’t even call Zane or Jay to pick him up.
Kai squints at the street signs at the nearest intersection. They all look very familiar, but even when he was moving in he already had trouble navigating the neighborhood. Due to its suburban aesthetic, the streets are small and winding, cutting similar-looking houses into neat rows. He’s never really lived in the suburbs before until now. His family had lived in the countryside, and when he transferred to the dojo dorms, it was in the inner city. Kai circles around another block and is faced with more houses. He sighs, his shoulders sagging. His feet are hurting really bad now, but he’s so close to getting home.
Suddenly, he feels a presence right behind him. Before he can even think about it, he reflexively turns around and blocks the reaching hand of the stranger. The man stumbles back, clearly confused, and Kai immediately feels his face heat up with embarrassment.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry!” Kai stammers, laughing nervously. “You kinda startled me there.”
“Oh, no, it’s okay. It’s my fault for not calling out to you first.” The man replies, fixing his cuff. He’s a well-groomed brunette who’s wearing a white dress shirt with black pants and a black jacket draped over his forearm. He seems normal enough, Kai decides. Though it is the middle of the day, and most people should be at work by now. The man, oblivious to Kai’s curious gaze, just smiles gently. “I was just wondering if you might need help with directions. I’m a local here, so I know the area pretty well.”
“Oh, uh, thanks.” Kai perks up at his offer. Both of them exchange a firm handshake. Kai sees the twitch on the brunette’s brow at how sweaty his palm is and bites back a grin. “I’m Kai. Me and my roommates just moved here a couple days ago. I went out jogging but right now I’m pretty lost. My phone’s dead, too, so I can’t call my roommates or use my GPS.”
The man laughs heartily and pats Kai on his shoulder in a friendly matter, “That happens to a lot of people, yes! This neighborhood is famous for having long, winding roads. I’ve grown up here, though, so I know this place like the back of my hand. I can direct you to where you need to be.”
Slightly uncomfortable by the gesture, Kai steps to the side to get out of the man’s arm range. However, he agrees that the offer is rather nice. He tells the man the address to his house and describes it briefly. It’s cream colored and rather old-looking. He knows that it’s at the end of a cul-de-sac, at the foot of a large hill. “I mean, it’s only been sold recently, and now we’re renting it from the owner, you know?”
“I see.” The man mutters, eyes narrowing as if to think. However, something about the sudden cold expression disturbs him. The seemingly cheerful man frowns and taps his fingers to his chin.
“It’s there something wrong?” Kai asks, raising an eyebrow.
“No, it’s nothing.” The man shakes his head. “I know the way there, but…” The man hesitates, wetting his lips. “Have you encountered… anything weird there?”
Immediately alarms start ringing in his head. He’s been through enough trouble to read people’s faces pretty well, and this man is either extremely nervous and superstitious, or he’s sticking his nose in some shady business. Kai narrows his eyes and shakes his head. “I don’t understand. What do you mean?”
The man recoils ever so slightly. Kai watches as he quickly fixes his stance into something more casual. “Oh, no, nothing too much. It’s just I’ve been hearing rumors about that place being haunted, that’s all. I’m a local priest, you see. The church where I work for is just down this street. Now, I’m not one for rumors, but I’ve heard people say that weird things happen in your house.”
“Oh really?” Kai cocks his hip, mirroring the relaxed posture the priest-man has. “Nah, I haven’t seen anything weird yet. I think an old, unsold house tends to freak people out. Superstitious and all that.”
“Very well.” The man nods, the thin smile on his lips becoming a little less strained. “I’m glad that you haven’t encountered any beings with supernatural qualities. However, if you ever need anything, just let me know.” As he says that, his hands stray to his pockets, patting them down to search for something.
Kai tries not to tense up at that, not even letting his guard down as the man withdrew from his back pocket a business card. “Here, hold on.” The man says, procuring a pen in his other hand. He scribbles some stuffs down and hands the card to Kai, “I drew a map of the direction you need to take from this block. You just need to go down another block on this side of the street, and turn left. Then it’s another left by the house with pink flamingos in the front yard. That’s Mrs. B’s house.” The man rambles on for another good minute before finally bidding Kai goodbye.
“Thank you for your help.” Kai smiles, mostly out of necessity. He’s certainly sure to tell Zane and Jay to keep Cole a secret for now. The man beams back and shakes his hand once again.
“It’s good to see a new face around here.” He says, baring his straight, white teeth at Kai. “You can come and visit our church anytime. This is a very nice community, and we’d love to know more of you!”
“Uh, thanks.” Kai waves as he starts his walk back home, the business card clutched between sweaty fingers. “Have a nice day!”
“You, too!” The man calls out cheerfully, though Kai doesn’t look back until he’s halfway down the block. When he does, however, the man’s gone.
