look i get bton has set up some seeds (ba dum tiss?) that polin will be the pairing in the Featherington Family to have a male heir first (and it's popular in the fandom as an endgame for them) and thus will inherit the estate but
consider the following:
they find out about it and go 'ahahahah NOPE' and thus become co-conspirators to get Pru or Phillipa preggo before them. because with inheriting the estate. . .what they really inherit is the debt. and neither of them are eager for that anytime soon
so one storyline is that they're on a mission to get Prudence there first so they're always out here making very thinly veiled insinuations at PruDank and make up excuses and schemes so they're alone with each other. Penelope takes the lead for this particular side of the scheme, but they're definitely in kahoots. like Colin will lead Dankworth to places and Penelope will do the same for Prudence and whoops, look at that, what a good time for the two of you to make an heir and Penelope's there in Prudence's ear like it should be you, you're the oldest, it's your right, wouldn't you want to lord it over Phillipa forever? like the devil on her shoulder and constantly hyping her sister up because please, god, don't let it be her, she doesn't want it to be her, she is a grand total of 19 years old and she wants to fuck her husband consequence free, and she can't do this chastity shit, it's not reasonable, so Prudence, time to hop on that horse! let's up and at 'em, sis
and the other is Colin coming to Albion like 'soooooooo. . .I have to ask. . .how have you managed it?' and he's like 'managed what?' 'to be married for two years and not have a baby. I mean, I'm a newly married man and I'd like to. . .enjoy my wife before we start a family. I have to know your secret' and Albion is just there going 'huh? what secret? we've just being doing it normal?' so Colin's very concerned like 'oh no, what if i've offended him? what if they can't have kids???' and Albion and him keep talking until it becomes clear that, wait, hang on, what do you mean by normal and it finally comes out that the reason Phillipa always seems like she's got a stick up her bum is because she does so he's like 'oh fuck, oh no, oh no no no, i can't be the one to inform him that's not the way to make a baby' ala: 'you are putting it in the right place?' and he's white as a ghost like 'so very sorry, i think i left my cat on the stove, i have to go'
and Colin and Penelope come together at the end of all their schemes like 'well. . .there goes Plan A. . .and B. . .and C through G' as Penelope frantically wonders if she can get Gen to pull Prudence aside and Colin is contemplating which of his brothers he can bribe enough to have the 'So, women have multiple holes' discussion w/' Albion because he refuses to be the one to do it
meanwhile, Portia is out here making potions to try to get one of her daughters to have a baby because thus far, she's batting 0 for 3, and Polin's schemes somehow always end up in direct opposition to her schemes, thus canceling out each time
tell me that wouldn't be the funniest shit you've ever watched on this show

i've been... engraving sybill into my brain today. if you even care
it’s the constant confusion, the flimsiness of the border between her reality and her visions, always struggling to differentiate between what’s real and what’s in her mind, and even then, within her mind there’s still the chaos of what’s impossible, some imagined horror, and what will happen in the future, the future where there’s a war and where imagined horrors can become reality.
it's a miserable place, endless waking nightmares as she tries to separate her physical reality from that which her mind conjures for her, reliving her past failures and seeing symbols that don’t make sense to her yet, flashes of images like lightning strikes and she can’t pick out the important ones, she can’t pick out the ones that she needs to understand, until after the fact, until people she knows are dead and she could’ve stopped it if she’d only figured out what the images meant.
she’s drowning in guilt, seeing ghosts everywhere, their hands always accusing her, clawing at her, because she as good as killed them - it’s the struggle of whether the future is determined or not, whether things happen just because she predicted them or because they were always going to, no matter what she did.
in her mind, with the ghosts and the horrors, she’s the one to blame, always; she’s to blame when she can’t figure out the meaning of the visions she sees in time to warn anyone of their future; she’s to blame when she thinks she understands something but can’t explain it well enough to make anyone believe her; she’s to blame when she can’t stop time from rolling onwards incessantly, when she can't thwart her own predictions somehow.
she’s trying every method of divination under the sun to try and find the answers, she’s drinking copious amounts of alcohol to try and open her inner eye further, hands shaking, desperately trying to decipher the mess in her mind before it’s too late, pushing herself to the edge and over it to make sure she doesn’t fail her next victims in the way she did all the others.
she’s isolating herself bc it’s worse when it’s people she knows, it’s worse when she can remember both what they look like when they smile and what they look like when they’re tortured to death. but that leaves her alone with all of these ghosts and a very tenuous grasp on reality that feels like it’s slipping through her fingers, impossible to grasp.
she’s spiralling and miserable and still trying so desperately to help, to find an answer, a way that she can assuage her guilt. she’s incredibly highly strung, she’s constantly on edge because if she lets herself relax for even one moment she’s scared she’ll lose track of who, where, when she is, she's scared her world might just collapse around her.
and on top of all that fuckery, there are all these expectations from her family, bc she’s inherited her great-grandmother’s famed inner eye, they expected her to be just as successful, just as renowned as the legendary cassandra trelawney and she doesn’t know how, doesn’t know how to make the visions work like they should.
and then there’s the ridicule from everyone else because no one believes her, she tries so hard to warn people about the things she thinks are coming, the things that she thinks she understands, and she’s met with laughter, laughter that rings in her ears until she hears about her predictions having come true, then all she hears are screams, screams and guilt because she didn’t do enough, she didn’t try hard enough to make them understand and now they’re all dead.
and the one time she is believed, the one time she’s taken seriously, her first official prophecy, and she thinks that maybe she’s starting to find herself, starting to live up to her great-grandmother’s legacy. in the end, all she manages to do is kill another two people she went to school with, all she manages to do is orphan a little boy and place him at the forefront of a new war that’s a thousand times bigger than him…
all that she has left at the end is a handful of Real prophecies that only serve to harm people, hundreds of deaths on her conscience, their ghosts screaming and scratching at her - your fault, your fault, they say in an undying chorus - and still there are visions that she doesn’t understand, still pushing and pulling her between fact and fiction, the hellscape that is her mind, her life. and still she’s trying to understand, trying to cling onto reality, trying to live up to her family name, trying so so hard to save someone, anyone, just once.
she’s a ship in a storm, knocked about on the waves like a ragdoll, and looking up at the stars for guidance, for a way to shore that they cannot provide for her, hidden by the thunderclouds.

also also i forgot to put this but what are your thoughts on firefly? i think she's probably gonna be okay (please please please) because it would honestly suck if she were introduced and then immediately thrown to the side
so! short answer: i don't fucking know 🫶🏾
long answer:
this is really tough because i really... don't know. there's a lot of ways this could play out.
like, for one, you're not supposed to be able to die in the dreamscape. ... right? but robin died. maybe her body was attacked shortly after she entered the dream pool thing? it would explain all the gashes on her
but also, the monster that attacked firefly? the way black swan keeps calling it just Death makes me a little unsure... an attack from THAT probably has more real world repercussions than like. getting whacked over the head with a heavy hammer. now, are the real world repercussions DEATH? i'm not sure. black swan and acheron sure do respond like firefly Died-died. and they both know a lot more about the dreamscape than most anyone else
other things to consider are firefly's entropy loss syndrome and the fact that she's a stowaway. i imagine being booted out of the dreamscape because you "died" has some jarring unknown effects. who knows how differently someone whose body is literally fading away respond? also, because she's a stowaway: where... is her body? how did she get into the dreamscape in the first place? can she get back in? lots of unanswered questions here. even if she didn't DIE due to all her unique circumstances she might not be 100% Okay
but ANOTHER thing is firefly will be a playable character. this doesn't guarantee that she's okay - like, *points at tingyun* this wouldn't be the first time a character with an ambiguous-but-probably-Not-Good fate is added to the gacha. but it gives me some hope, because we got a decent amount of time with tingyun before the phantylia reveal. and we were able to meet other characters she was connected to and learned more about her through them and so on. soooooo there is PROBABLY something else planned for firefly. in some way
one last thing: people are saying she's... sam? this kind of has me scratching my head a lot because ... ???? but in the penacony trailer sam is shown with the same weapon firefly's leaked file assets have. and her type appears to be fire
i think though that it's worth noting that the "sam" we had a boss fight with might not have been the REAL sam. while retracing firefly's memories, she talks to someone named "Mecha." who is probably an accomplice who turned on her? soooo maybe the "sam" we fought was this Mecha and there was just an assumption by stelle & co that it was sam. because like he never introduced himself lol
either way they're definitely connected so even if firefly herself never comes back we still have sam/possibly "mecha" wandering around and we'll get the chance to glean more info from him in the next update. probably.
but yeah in conclusion!!!!!! i don't know 🫶🏾 too hard to tell, too little info available, there's all kinds of foreshadowing in the dreampass stickers and readable texts strewn across the map but i haven't gone through everything and sometimes foreshadowing is only clear in hindsight so that might not help, i am waiting (im)patiently for the next story update
