#several people I would rather NOT spend my summer doing manual work with are going AND the director said she’s moving me from my trench of #2 years to a different trench bc of some valid reasons of what I know a lot about BUT that trench is MY baby and we were FINALLY through th #roof tile layer and I spent 2 years waiting for that #and my dig wife isn’t going this year 😭😭😭😫😫😫😫 #she’s moving me to the trench that they found a forge in and didn’t get to bedrock yet in and I wrote my thesis on tools so like fair #but I fucking worked my ass off for that other trench and I don’t get to be there for the fruit of my labors #last season was HARD it rained so much and we were so busy and couldn’t excavate very many hours and the professional archaeologist assigned #to my trench had a different commitment so I was In Charge of that trench and fighting for my life to keep the mood up of the undergrads I #was supervising and I was in charge of making HARD decisions about how to excavate that trench #and now I’m being put at a different trench and like they already found the evidence of the forge like what more am I going to find there #but despite my gentle and polite protestations I am being reassigned to be in charge of that unit #which fine I’ll do my absolute best but I’m still upset

Today’s the Monday of all time, my friends

The groceries are - as per usual - late which means I’m sitting in a cold parking lot waiting for god knows how long, then I gotta go make the food ready for lunch despite having less time than usual

Oh and today’s also the day they scheduled a meeting with the stranger that is apparently my new caseworker— and they put it after I’m off from work despite me telling them repeatedly (and it being in my file) that I can’t do 2 things a day :)

Phantom’s (insert your name of choice for new bug) favorite food is cereal. Infinite variety delivered in the same sterile, sealed bag that no one’s hands, except maybe some animatronic ones, have touched but his. They’re all different but they’re all kind of the same. Dry and crunchy. Some of them brutalize the roof of his mouth with their grating texture. He avoids those. Mountain tried to make him eat granola for his own health, claiming it was cereal, just like he’d already been eating. It was a lie, both seeds and dried fruit look like bugs . Live ones or smushed ones. And nuts take like 8 hours to chew. It’s too much commitment for such bland payoff. When he discovered freeze dried marshmallows, all the charm and crackle of dried corn meal, with more sugar, prettier colours and infinite shapes, he decided he never wanted to eat anything else again. Can ghouls get scurvy? Mountain forces him to drink a glass of juice every day just in case. Protein and iron requirements to be discussed. But thanks to the FDA or something, most cereals are fortified. He will live, for now. Until he gets a cavity. And then he finds out that it means the tooth will fall out, and a new one will take its place, and that process is just as painful as the first time. And then he’ll also be interested in everything everyone told him about dental hygiene and simply putting the toothbrush in your mouth and chewing on the bristles isn’t good enough.
