bakugo + february

(warning: gn i think? kinda shitty world building😖, a lil angst, happy valentine’s day!!!!!)

“This is the third box of chocolates in this bin alone.”

You throw the frilly, silver package onto a large pile of red cardboard and ribbon, on top of another box of neatly wrapped sweets. Some of the gifts with sappy, little valentines written on top, others with pink and white sticky notes.

Bakugo huffs with a pout and an eye roll, in his own hands a stack of rainbow cards he flips through quickly.

“That’s funny.”

You don’t look at him, just continue to paw around in the bin in front of you. You pull out a dark brown teddy bear, it’s fur soft in your hands, and turn to plop it in the pile of things he said that you could keep: stickers, fake flowers, toys.

“Why?”

You don’t even glance at him as you say it, like it doesn’t matter, and he picks at a bit of lace falling off of a large greeting card and snorts.

“Not like I ever got any of this kinda crap in high school.”

You stop your rifling to stare at him, your expression so different than from moments before. “You didn’t get any fan mail in high school?”

You assume he did, at least: he was just as cute back then as he is now… you’ve seen the pictures of that blonde boy, smaller, still scowling, but still any teenager’s dream. He was working as a hero by then, surely he had some sort of fan club.

(You would’ve been amongst them if you had known. Now he’s professional, though, and you only met him through Jirou when you transferred from her team to his.)

“I didn’t get any…” he pauses, his face twisting in a frown, his cheeks going the slightest bit ruddy. “Chocolates and shit. Letters.”

“Katsuki…” he grunts but doesn’t look, your tone incredulous in a way he doesn’t want to address. “You were never confessed to?”

He blows out an angry raspberry, picking up and throwing a bottle of nicely-labeled hot sauce into his own keep pile. It clinks with the rest.

“Don’t fucking rub it in.”

“I’m not!” you try to assure, reaching out for him. “I’m just… a little surprised, is all.”

He glares, wordless and accusatorially, like your giggles are threatening and the vacuum sealed pair of panties you teasingly wave in the air (and he snatches, immediately trashing) are nuclear.

“…’cuz I would’ve thought you got tons. Like now, big boy.”

He turns even more pink. As pink as half the mail room has become with all the love notes sent in for February.

“Yeah, well,” Bakugo tries to move on, grimacing as he picks up a plain envelope that he initially had high hopes for and unfolds it into a long, love poem. “Can’t win ‘em all, I learned.”

And as you throw another box of store-bought chocolates onto the stack, you think you know what you want to get him for Valentine’s Day.

congrats on finishing Silent Hill 2! One of my favorite games!

I'm kind of surprised you got the In Water ending, honestly, though the criteria for which ending you get is still pretty arcane even to this day. Its actually one of my favorite things about the game.

Cuz like its not just one or two plot actions you can do in the game to determine the ending, its tons of little things like how often you take damage and heal, what files you read, how you behave toward Maria, and stuff like that.

The three primary endings of SH2 are all based around James's internal struggle. The events of the game always play out the same, but James's reasons for doing what he does and how he feels about it is entirely up to how you play. I find it absolutely fascinating and one of the best "choice" systems in any game ever. It chaps my ass a bit that basically no other game ive seen, let alone any other SH games, have done anything like it since.

(also you should definitely play SH4 The Room. Its weird and ive never finished it but it does some interesting stuff)

Yes looking into the other ending after the fact really surprised me how complex they are! I’d practically have to replay the whole game to get each new one, unlike SH1 where if I’d kept separate save files I could’ve cut a lot of time out of the replay

I do think that In Water makes sense for a particularly thorough playthrough where I was checking my inventory items for clues and exploring rooms and logs in their entirety. It also doesn’t help that early on I hadn’t figured out the health meter entirely and wanted to save items until I was sure I needed them so I ended up spending a lot of time at low health!

Regardless it’s a very unique interesting system and I’m glad to have taken the chance to play the game. Thank you for following along and sharing your thoughts!

#i probably won’t go for another ending because while In Water is grim it has better closure than the first ending i got in SH1 #but there is a good chance I’ll at least carry through SH4! I’ll have to look more into the games after that and see how the vibes are #inbox of chocolates

I think I’m okayish now but everything feels so weird

#idk how to describe it. just weird #‘what would he want you to do’#not hide in the garden that’s one thing #???? girl it’s raining why are you sitting on the grass come inside and have some chocolate #he always bought me chocolate when I was a kid #when my parents went out he’d come and stay overnight with us #Days I Could Stay Up Late™️#I wish I was still that age.#i’m a uni as good as this because of him #last time I saw him was star wars celebration. he said he’d think about saving up for japan. now i’ll never go with him #I was waiting until he got back to tell him about me crashing the car #he’d have died laughing and then given me 2728153 unhelpful driving tips #ironic thing is my mum and my other uncle who lives down the road had a massive falling out years ago #and he’s been trying to decrease the awkwardness between them ever since with varying success #and yeah. you can imagine what happened yesterday #if ghosts are real his is definitely fistpumping about getting them to talk #its like everything stopped for a moment yesterday and now its started again #and im distracting myself but its still at the back of my mind #idk when itll go away

i just realized that the chocolate covered coffee beans (REFERENCE?!?!? 😱) i’ve had stashed away are older than the coffee choc guy himself WHICH IS SO CRAZY BECAUSE THOSE CHOCOLATES ARE NEARLY A YEAR OLD AND THIS SILLY DILLY GUY IS NOT

#the only reason i didn’t eat all of the chocolate yet is because it’s dark chocolate #but they’re still so good #idk if i’ll ever get my hands on more but if i do i’ll try to just get milk chocolate #actually if i’m being honest i’m having a hard time remembering if they were from winter 2022 or winter 2021 #i don’t want them to be that old since i’m still eating them tho so shhhhhhhhh
