Randy Brown KOs Muslim Salikhov in the 1st round!
Rudeboy with the lovely 1-1-2 to put Salikhov away. Started off a bit rough for Brown. Salikhov seemed to want to control center cage and was countering Brown's jab with the low kicks to the calf. As the round went on, you could see Brown hunting for a way to get to Salikhov's right to line up his cross. Able to use the first two jabs to hide the movement and force a reaction out of Salikhov before dropping the right hand on him. Just basic stuff. Similar to Jaylin Turner-Bobby Green. This is all I've ever wanted from Green. So much of his growing pains have been him wanting to be a slick outside fighter who leans out of the way of strikes. With his reach, he doesn't need to do all that. The basics will carry him further. Happy to see it start to click a bit. Hopefully he continues to develop cause he could do some damage with some good fundamental boxing at welterweight.

Just sad Armageddon Time, and there was a lot I liked about it, and some stuff that I didn’t quite… get. I’ve heard some critics say Anthony Hopkins was miscast, but I don’t think that’s true in the least. He was such a sweet, interesting grandpa. I could tell why Paul looked up to him so much. Jeremy Strong was intense, as always, in ways I wasn’t necessarily expecting. He was so good, and he brought a lot of complexity and like…empathy to a character that might be easily written off as a dick. Anne Hathaway was doing something I’ve never seen her do, and it was so interesting and beautiful to watch. Makes me want to never become a mother, because I feel like her character’s fears for her sons are what keep me up at night when I think about motherhood too seriously. Also, Tovah Feldshuh! Who is so delightful in everything she does, apparently. She’s in the background a lot, but she stands out for sure. The two young actors were also really, really good. Jaylin Webb have such a powerful performance, for such a young actor. Banks Repeta brought a lot of innocence to a character that I found terminally stressful. I could not have sons.
This film was interesting and weird, in the sense that a lot of it felt like vignettes with only the slightest suggestion of being bound by an external chronology. Evidently, the death in the family has a significant impact on this child, but the daily happenings of his life take up so much more space in the narrative. I wonder to what extent that’s sort of a recreation of the limitations of our perspective and recollection at ages 12-13. I think a less generous reading would see this as hmmmm… somewhat underdeveloped. I’d be inclined to agree, except that the film doesn’t necessarily draw a whole lot of conclusions with regards to the sort of looming moral and ethical questions Paul encounters. There’s a measure of like… understanding the past through the eyes of an adult… but I don’t think it’s so encompassing as expected from retrospective works.

Who is your favorite character? Who is your LEAST favorite character? Who did you create FIRST?
Who did you create MOST RECENTLY?
My favorite character is probably a 3 way tie between Hibuki, Harlot and Jaylin
My least is probably Phobos. No one knows or cares about him so I also sometimes forget about him. ;w;
My first character... God it's been a Hella Long time. I don't remember but there was for sure someone before Hibuki!! I think it was actually the first renditions of Lumera Piexes, my descendant au where the trolls are reincarnated as their own genetic offspring since buckets are a thing. I haven done her stuff in forever though.
Jaylin/Ryujin are my most recent characters, as I made them literally within 2 days of each other. LOL

The Woman In The Window
(short story by me) Trigger warnings: mentons of death
"Do you want to go out to Seven Eleven with me?" Charlotte smiled.
"Sure... Jaylin, Julis, Ester ? You all want to join?" I asked.
"Sure" Jaylin and Julis laughed in unison. Ester  hesitated. "Okay..." She finally uttered.
"Okay... Let's go" Charlotte smiled.
We got up and left. 7-11 was pretty close to my house. We walked in silence, A comfortable silence.
The silence was broken by Charlotte and Jaylin's giggles. "Look, it's the weird Building near the Dollar general!" Jaylin snickered.
What's funny about a random building?
"I don't get the joke..." I uttered. Ester  and Julis agreed.
"Oh, I didn't really intend on a joke..," Charlotte admitted with a grin.
"What if we explored around the Seven Eleven? Y'Know... the abandoned building? " Julis blurted out.
We all stopped and looked at him like his head got split into Two halves.
"What?" Julis mumbled.
"Are you serious? You're joking." Charlotte Responded.
"And I thought it would be the Cauliflower of the group to utter some dumb stuff like that." I spat.
"Yea... as the cauliflower of the group... that's dumb as hell." Jaylin Continued.
"Right... sorry." Julis Grinned.
"Don't say any more dumb stuff of that nature ever again... Don't want to end up dead, now do we?" Charlotte Concluded.
Jaylin nodded and we walked, silence again. Ester  was especially quiet.
"Ester? Are you okay?" I asked.
She only nodded. Something was wrong...
We made it to Seven eleven and grabbed our snacks. As we walked to the checkout counter I caught a glimpse of something outside. A woman, Tanned, Dirty blonde hair and looked like she was dressed for school. School had been out for 2 months.
She didn't look like she belonged in school anyways. She looked as if she was in her mid 30's. She didn't move, I looked away and looked back. She wasn't there. I wondered if she was on crack or something.
A crack zombie? But then I saw her again, More towards the side of the building. She was ever so obviously looking at me. She blinked. That was it, the only movement I got from her.
I convinced myself that she was someone who likes scaring people for fun. Julis does that.
Odd.
We checked out and she was gone...
"Julis?!" Charlotte called.
I had only paid attention to the lady outside, I didn't realize Julis was gone.
"Huh? What?" I uttered.
"Julis is gone!" Jaylin Emphasized.
"He's not in the bathroom or near the slushy machine!" Ester  panicked.
I looked around. I caught a glance at the window. The woman was still at the window.
"What the frick?! Where'd he go?!" Jaylin gulped.
We all walked towards the door. My eyes are still locked on the lady outside the window. We left the store. I peered over to where she stood.
She was gone?...
Wait... no. She was peering behind the side of the building. Still staring.
My eyes still locked on the odd woman that no one else seemed to see— "Is that Julis?!" Was the only thing that broke me out of my trance. I turned towards Charlotte "oh nevermind... it was a light pole" She snickered.
I only nodded before looking back to where the woman should've been standing.
I heard something snap. I turned around and I swear I saw Julis, but he wasn't there. I saw the woman though. She had turned the corner and I could see her completely.
I shouldn't be the only one seeing some Middle Aged white woman staring at me with a blank expression.
I still want to know if she is on drugs though…
“Oh, hi ma'am have you seen a pale skinny boy with ginger hair?? We are looking for our friend Julis.” Charlotte stated.
I thought I was the only one who saw her… good to know I'm not crazy.
The lady turned her head towards Charlotte, and stammered. “I think you are very pretty.”
Charlotte's cheeks flushed red. “Thank you but we really need help with finding our friend.”
She turned her head and looked at Jaylin. “You're a very handsome young man” she smiled at him. Jaylin just looked at her.
“Can you help us or not?” Jaylin grunted. Jaylin was the one who was worried the most about where Julius was.
And this lady wasn't helping at all.
The lady looked at Ester  “You look very nice.”
Ester  looked at the lady and smiled awkwardly.
“Can you help us?” Charlotte asked again.
“Okay Charlotte, she obviously can't help us. I'd rather go and try to find him now then wait for this lady who obviously doesn't know where Julis is.” Jaylin grunted.
The lady locked eyes with me and smiled “and you look like a very nice person.”
“Thank you but no thank you.” I huffed and turned to Jaylin. “Yea, let's find Julis and leave.” I agreed.
“Thank you for your compliments ma'am” Charlotte turned around. “Oh… did she walk away?”
“What are you on about?” Jaylin turned around. I turned my head.
She was gone? I'm so confused, that lady just stopped speaking.
Jaylin took a breath. “Whatever… come on… we might as well just go find–”
“Ester ? Guys where's Ester ??” Charlotte yelled.
I looked around. Ester  and Julis are gone with absolutely zero trace of where they went.
“Wait… we all have phones. Text or call them” Jaylin muttered.
“I tried calling Julis. It rang, someone picked it up, It was silent, then I hung up . “ I muttered
“Julis’s phone is never dead.” Jaylin stated firmly.
“That too… I'll call Ester .” Charlotte commented. She dialed Ester , the phone rung and it was picked up, she put the call on speaker. “Ester ?! Where are you? Are you okay? Did you find Julis?” Charlotte ranted.
“They are both fine.” A familiar voice whispered.
The voice sounded like the woman's voice from a few minutes ago.
“Excuse me? Why do you have Esther's phone?!” Jaylin hissed. The lady hung up.
What the frick? Why does that weird lady have my friend's phone?
“Julis?...” Charlotte muttered.
What are you talking about? I turned around and saw nothing.
Jaylin looked around. What are you talking about charlotte?... Are you okay?
I wanted to say something but i felt something hit my head and a pain in my leg, i passed out.x
I woke up on the floor in a dimly lit room. I looked and saw Jaylin on the other side of the room on the floor with blood running down his head, he's out unconscious. I crawled over to him, grabbed him and shook him awake.
“Jaylin… come on man wake up” i kept shaking him until he woke up. “Crap… what happened?” Jaylin muttered.
“ i have no clue" i sighed
Jaylin looked around. “Where's charlotte?...”
“I don't know either…”  I sighed.
I herd the ladies voice “Hello “
I turned. “Where are our Friends?!” I shouted.
“What did you do to them?” Jaylin hissed. The woman stayed silent.
It was 10 minutes before I heard a muffled scream then silence outside the door.
The woman hadn't moved. She stood Four feet away from us and she just stood there staring at us. After a few minutes the door to the room opened and someone in all white dragged Julis in. Julis was unconscious and bleeding from his neck. The woman sighed and walked towards Julis. The person who dragged him in handed her something. I couldn't see what it was until she turned around.
She held Julis in front of us, I could see what the person had given her. It was a meat cleaver.
Jaylin didn't utter a word nor did I.
(There's no way she's actually gonna…)
She took a meat cleaver to my best friend's head. I watched one of my best friends get their head split open. I almost gagged.
Jaylin froze, he grabbed me tightly.
The person in white dragged Ester and Charlotte into that room. They tied a rope to a metal pipe on the ceiling, the woman tied the other end of the rope around Charlotte's neck and removed the metal block they mounted Charlotte on.
I heard my younger cousin's neck snap. I threw up in my mouth a little. Jaylin held my arm so tightly his grip cut off my blood circulation.
The woman walked over, grabbed Jaylin by his hair and dragged him to the same spot Charlotte sat. Her body still swung from the ceiling.
The man in white placed ester into a Guillotine.
I never thought I'd see the blood of my sister.
Jaylin passed out.
I passed out. All I know is when I woke up I was outside in front of that same 7-11 we had gone to.
I was the only one who made it out that day.

NEW YORK -- A 74-year-old man was pushed onto the subway tracks early Tuesday morning in what appears to have been a random, unprovoked attack.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. at the 68th Street-Hunter College station on the Upper East Side.
Police said the victim was on the southbound 6 train platform when he noticed a man pacing back and forth, cursing and talking to himself. The victim said he didn't engage, walked past the suspect, and moments later was pushed onto the tracks.
An MTA employee helped the victim back onto the platform. He was then taken to the hospital in stable condition with cuts and bruises from the fall. Police said he was conscious and complaining of back pain, but did not elaborate on the extent of his injuries.
CBS New York spoke with subway riders who had their heads on a swivel after learning of another subway attack.
"It makes me not want to get on the train, which is less convenient, especially for the students at Hunter, too," subway rider Kaylani Miller said.
"I never stand by the edge of the platform," one person said.
"You can't hear about them and not be concerned," said another.
"What I say is act crazier. That's the only way to prevent yourself from getting hurt over here," rider Jaylin Brunson said.
Hours after the shove, additional officers stood watch underground, providing comfort to some, but not all.
"There are just only so many places the police can be. You can't put police on every platform, on every subway station, on every subway car. So yeah, it ha probably deterred some stuff, but it's a big city," Gary Alterman said.
Police were combing through surveillance from the 14 cameras located in the station. They said the suspect is still on the run and was last seen wearing a brown shirt and black pants. He's described as 5-foot-9, approximately 210 pounds, and in his mid 30s.
Even if he's caught, passengers said they can't let their guard down after too many similar cases have happened in the past.
"Usually, I try to stay over here or in the middle, never close to the yellow," said Mariela Pechalova.
"I don't really use my headphones, because I want to be aware of my surroundings, and just making sure I look around when I'm walking," another person added.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.

Chapter 2, let's go! Hope you enjoy!
What’cha got there?” Jaylin asked with a curious lilt in her voice
“Nothing.” He replied tossing the bouquet on the ground
“Awfully well arranged for ‘nothing’” said Jaylin looking at the scattered petals that came from the impact.
“If you say so.”
It was clear he wanted this conversation to be over but seeing her friend so dejected sparked concern in the young bird fae so with a quick look at Ruggie who was turning to head back to his dorm she picked up the bouquet and examined the slightly broken flowers.
“The arrangement was definitely done with care, the choice in flowers could tie to the meanings of love and lasting affection.”
Ruggie grunted as he put his hands in his pockets “Just leave it.”
Yet she continued “Or the colors might be the meaning behind the choice, probably because they remind you of whomever you wanted to gift this to.”
“Knock it off!”
“And the few people who can get linked to this combo are Riddle, though you’d have added roses if that were the case and Jasmines are most well known in places like the scalding sands so that leaves…”
“Are you done!?” Snapped Ruggie
“Oh my gosh, Ruggie, were you going to ask Kalim out?”
“No! Now lay off.”
Ruggie was now facing Jaylin with his face screwed up in anger. Jaylin looked back at him unfazed, Their friendship had survived far worse than a mere spat. They knew neither were going anywhere, but she could tell this was a raw nerve for him, so she shrugged. “If you insist, would have been about damn time though.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you two have been making goo goo eyes at each other for like 3 weeks now.”
“No we haven’t, just been hanging out is all.”
“Strange, you don’t usually get a big dopey smile when we hang out.”
“What? You jealous?”
“Pfft don’t flatter yourself”
She dashed up to his side, still holding the flowers. “So what made you change your mind?”
“Who says that’s what happened?”
“Listen you cagey bastard, we can do this all day, it’s no feather off my tail”
“Ugh, go annoy someone else”
“Only if you answer me.”
“Why? It’s my business”
“Because it’s got you down and I care”
“Ugh, gross”
“Uh huh. Come on Ruggie, I don’t want you bottling it, you know it’s bad for you.”
Ruggie finally stopped with a resigned sigh “Jay, I’m alright, I just…There’s no way it’d work.”
“Why not?”
“What can I give him that he can’t get himself?”
“Oh that’s easy, your smile, your time, your affection”
“People coming up to him to tell him that I’m after his stuff, a no good money grubber”
“Really Ruggie? What does it matter what others think?”
“It doesn’t….Until he starts believing it.”
Jaylin gave him a sad yet concerned look, she knew all too well how cruel words, whether they were from a place of caring or not, could burn a relationship. She also knew that Kalim was the type to see good in just about everyone and wasn’t likely to turn on them just because of rumors. Looking down at the battered bouquet, Jaylin twisted her lips before making her final decision. “Hey Ruggie, since you don’t want these flowers, can I take them?”
Ruggie shrugged apathetically “Sure, whatever”
“Thanks, see you later?”
“Yeah, later.”
With that, Jaylin turned back to the main building and was on her way to setting a plan in motion.

Armageddon Time (2022, dir. James Gray) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
Armageddon Time was a perfectly serviceable period drama with decent acting and a story that mostly works. Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong play stereotypical unsupportive parents well, they're both seasoned good actors. Anthony Hopkins, however, completely outclasses them every time he's on screen. At 84 he's still cranking out excellent performance after excellent performance and it feels like he knows it, too. Past him, as well as great breakout performances by Banks Repeta and Jaylin Webb, the film just feels too old school for it's own good. It feels like a film that should have been made in the mid 2000s. A good film from the mid 2000s, mind you, but it definitely feels dated. There are a few standout sequences that place this film slightly above average (the ending being one of them), but across the whole film I just felt like I was waiting for the "aha" moment, where everything clicked into place and I saw the light of greatness finally break through, but that moment never came. It all just felt very flat. It's a movie that I can see a middle-aged-to-elderly person thinking is quite profound, when in reality it's not saying much that hasn't been said before in films that felt more gratifying than this one. I don't mean to knock it too much, Gray is an excellent director and there isn't anything inherently wrong with Armageddon Time, but we're at a point in the history of film making where films like this one feel superfluous. Look for this one to get nominated for a ton of stuff and either not win any of it, or yank a couple of them out from under more deserving nominees.
Score: 7/10
Currently available to rent or purchase on digital (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc.) and to pre-order on DVD & Blu-ray through Focus Features/Universal Studios.
