You're My Favorite Explosion
read part I here and part II here
pairing: charlie walker x bimbo!fem!reader
summary: your relationship isn't perfect, but neither of you could imagine being with anyone else.
wc: 1558
warnings: fem!reader, cursing swearing, kinda angsty, oral sex (m!receiving), unprotected sex (p in v), creampie
Tumblr media
bimbo!reader and charlie have a pretty chill senior year imo, since charlie’s busy with you he never gets roped into jill’s ghostface plan.
bimbo!reader ends up being pretty good friends with kirby, completely oblivious to her and charlie’s past. it leads to some awkward situations, but eventually you figure out it’s best not to involve the two.
bimbo!reader buys charlie three months of a horror movie themed subscription box for christmas and he nearly screams when he opens it and a slasher’s head pops out like a jack in the box. he got you a heart locket with his initials engraved on the back, he’s embarrassed bc he thinks it’s cheesy but you love it.
bimbo!reader is charlie’s first new year’s kiss, among other new year’s firsts ;)
bimbo!reader and charlie say “i love you” for the first time on valentine’s day.
bimbo!reader and charlie go to the beach over spring break, and he nearly cums in his trunks when he sees you in your skimpy little bikini. he worries some surfer dude is gonna steal you away from him, but his worries are quickly laid to rest when you spend the whole time doting on him. you’re worried he’s gonna burn, he’s so pale, so you make sure he reapplies sunblock and ask him to get your back and shoulders bc “skin cancer isn’t sexy, baby”.
bimbo!reader gets upset during prom season, charlie never asks you to be his date so you feel like he doesn’t wanna go. he just thought it was implied you were going together, plans a cheesy promposal to make it up to you.
bimbo!reader gets nominated for prom queen and actually wins, but refuses to dance with the prom king bc you don’t wanna dance with anyone else but charlie.
bimbo!reader almost doesn’t graduate bc of some misunderstandings in class, but charlie helps you appeal to the teachers and turn in your missing assignments so you can graduate.
bimbo!reader throws charlie a party when he gets accepted as a film major at usc.
bimbo!reader drags charlie to parties, beaches, concerts, anything to spend time with him before he leaves for college, since you're not going to the same one as him.
bimbo!reader and charlie get into an argument before he leaves, he says things he doesn't mean, things he shouldn't have said, and you let him know that he's free to fuck whoever he wants at usc since he's single now.
college!charlie regrets the whole stupid argument, his first few weeks of college are shit bc everyone is more pretentious than him, none of the girls are you, and he's pretty sure his roommate has been using his shampoo.
college!charlie leaves a party early when a drunk girl tries making out with him, her lipgloss is nauseating, and he misses your soft, fruit flavored kisses.
college!charlie finds you walking down greek row on his way back to his dorm, crying with your heels in hand, and he doesn't hesitate to console you.
“Why are you crying?,” Charlie asks, standing in front of you, surprising you.
“What are you doing here?” You ask him, tone accusatory, ignoring his question.
“I should be asking you that question, but I’m not. Why are you crying?” He repeats his question, watching your mascara run down your cheeks as you sniffle.
“I got dragged to a stupid frat party,” you answer, throwing your arms over his shoulders to pull him into a hug.
“Is that it? Nothing happened?” He asks, his own arms wrapping around your waist and holding you close to him.
“Not really, I just wish you were with me,” you say, and Charlie can feel your tears through his shirt, dampening his shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” he says, voice cracking as he holds back his own tears. “I’m so sorry.”
“Can I stay with you tonight?” You ask, ignoring his apology.
“Anything you want,” he says, and the two of you separate to begin walking to his dorm.
It’s almost as if nothing has changed, Charlie is the same as before you broke up, offering to switch shoes so you don’t have to walk barefoot. He stumbles at first in your heels, but once you manage to give him tips through your laughs he’s able to walk normally. Thankfully his dorm isn’t far, soon you’re both in the elevator, and he’s able to shamelessly take off your heels to walk down the hall to his room.
Charlie has half a mind to block the door with a chair, but figures his roommate will just go home with a friend or a girl from the party he left him at. Instead, he focuses his attention on you, watching you strip out of your revealing outfit and going through his dresser to wear one of his shirts. He wonders if this is what you would’ve done every weekend if he hadn’t said what he said when the two of you had that stupid fight, but he tries not to think about it too much as he changes clothes and joins you in his twin bed, way too small for both of you and forcing you closer together.
“I forgive you, Charlie,” you say after a while, head resting on his chest, your breaths syncing with his as the two of you begin to doze off.
“Thank you,” he says, voice soft as his eyes well with tears.
“I love you, baby,” you say, moving on top of him, straddling his hips. “I love you so much,” you say again, leaning down to kiss him, and he can taste the faint trace of fruity lipgloss you wear, most likely having worn off throughout the night.
“I love you too,” he says when your lips separate from his, feeling you pepper kisses across his face. “I’ve missed you so much,” he says, hands massaging your hips as you grind on him, your kisses trailing lower, across his jawline and down his neck.
“Me too, missed you so much,” you say, moving down the bed, pulling down his boxers to reveal his half-formed erection.
You don’t waste time, spitting in your palm to wrap around his shaft and licking at the tip languidly. It gets messy quickly, as he leaks pre and hardens fully, you start drooling. Your own underwear is damp just from listening to his moans, walls clenching around nothing when you hear him whimper when you suck on his tip. He pulls you away from his dick, and you move back up the bed to kiss him at his request.
“You don’t have to do that, let me–” he says, trying to switch positions, but you stop him.
“No, I wanna ride you,” you say, lining him up with your entrance, your underwear pushed to the side, sitting on his cock before he can try to flip you over again.
“Fuck,” he moans, feeling your tight walls for the first time since before the semester started, holding your hips in a bruising grip to keep you from moving.
Your nails scratch against his lower stomach, leaving thin red lines as you try to move, desperate for any movement. Throughout your breakup, you had been far too miserable to try to find someone else, and your sex drive had almost completely disappeared once your pretty boyfriend wasn’t around. Now that he’s under you, buried deep inside you, stretching you on his cock and setting a fire inside you, you can’t hold back.
Prying his hands off your hips and holding them down on either side of his head is easier than you thought, and you intertwine your fingers as you lift your hips up, squeezing them when you slam your hips back down. His voice is heavenly, encouraging you to keep a steady pace as you bounce on his dick, moaning wantonly as you connect your lips to his in a sloppy kiss.
It’s messy, desperate sex, both of you giving and taking pleasure from the other, eager to let the other know how much they were missed. You let go of his hands to move his hair out of his face, gripping the dark locks when his hands grope your tits, pinching your nipples before moving down to tease your clit.
Your pace falters from the sudden stimulation, and he takes the opportunity to plant his feet and grab your hips, fucking up into you at a faster pace. He reaches deeper this way, making you keen in his ear as the two of you approach orgasm. Thin red lines run from his shoulders to his chest, your nails marking him as he pinches your clit, and you cry out as he keeps fucking you through your release.
“Fuck, baby, just a bit more,” he says, voice strained, feeling you shake as you tense up in pleasure.
Your words are more like whines, slurring out barely comprehensible ‘i love you's and begging for him to cum. It’s what sends him over the edge, hearing you begging for him to finish, and his pace falters as he cums inside you, haphazardly bucking up into you as he rides out his high.
For the first time since he started college, Charlie falls asleep peacefully, your warmth soothing him. It’s easy to drift off when he doesn’t have guilt, remorse, and longing gnawing at his heart.

But the hour is getting late. My son. My heir. My legacy. Let us go then, you and I. And I will show you how to save the world.
King Victor Von Doom & Prince Kristoff of Latveria
Thank you to the wonderful @ecairnsart for my Von Doom Royal Family Portrait! I'm once again in awe of your beautiful talent and art. ID and more below the cut~
[ID: Victor Von Doom sits front and center on an elaborately carved wood throne as the King of Latveria, the back of the throne shows a letter D engraving, and there is a detailed open mouthed lion’s head carved into the visible arm, the other side is covered by Doom’s cape which is draped over it. Doom wears a furred cape fastened by detailed decorative clasps, and a fine sash crosses his tunic. The medals on his chest represent his heritage, one is a symbol of the Roma flag, one is a letter W to represent his mother’s symbol, one is a pentagram to represent magic. Doom’s eyes are locked on the viewer from behind his mask. One arm rests on his knee while his other hand holds a unsheathed medieval inspired longsword by the hilt with its sharp end resting on the ground.
Two black dogs sit at Victor’s feet, while his son, Kristoff, stands to his right and just behind his throne. Kristoff also wears sashes and medals on his suit that represent his heritage and place as Prince of Latveria. He wears a fine cape with the symbol of Doom visible to the viewer. Unlike Victor who is completely armored and wears a hooded tunic and cape, Kristoff’s hood is drawn down, while his face and hair are visible, he wears gloves rather than metal gauntlets. Kristoff’s armor is minimal and the only visible parts cover his neck, jaw, and the lower part of his head. Kristoff’s eyes are also on the viewer while he stands proudly beside his father. His left hand rests on the pommel of a sheathed renaissance era sword.
The unmasked version shows Victor’s face, the right side of his face shows a jagged scar that runs from under his eye, down his cheek. /END ID]
Artist Notes:
Doom of course is seated front and center, with the dogs at his side and Kristoff at his right hand. The throne is elaborately carved wood and kept relatively dark so that it doesn't draw the eye away from the main figures of the painting.
The portrait composition is inspired by 18th/19th century aristocratic/royal portraits.
Doom’s sword, inspired by Maleev’s various paintings of Doom featuring a sword, is a medieval inspired longsword. In contrast Kristoff’s sword is a renaissance era inspired weapon, reflecting Victor as the medieval king and Kristoff as his younger heir.
Victor’s sword and position upon his throne works well as a kind of powerful element, like most royal portraits, it is intended to project a particular image of Latveria's rulers - specifically one of strength, in a bit of contrast to the early portrait representing Doom as a paternal figure and friend to the children of Latveria as represented by a young Kristoff.
You asked me to use some symbolism relevant to their backgrounds for the medals and such: I used a W - like shape from his mother’s chest of magical items in one of Victor’s medals and also on the top of his throne. A wheel-like design (as on the Roma flag) on a medal to represent his heritage, this design is also present in the medallions and on the chest/shoulders holding Kristoff’s cloak. A pentagram symbol on another medal and on the hilt of Victor’s sword to represent his use of magic.
Both of them are wearing somewhat "fancier" versions of typical outfits that we've seen them in from the comics - I've pulled various elements in, (the sashes and medals from Doom's wedding issue) and from Kristoff's appearance in New Avengers.
Victor’s scar is designed after Jack Kirby’s unmasked Doom drawing.

This art commission is a companion follow up to a previous Von Doom family portrait art that Ecairnsart created for me, in the older piece Victor and Kristoff have a more whimsical vibe, with Victor reading a book of children’s tales to a young Kristoff while their pet tiger lounges by them.
Tumblr media
After Ev presented this piece I knew that I needed an art that showed them in later years, that it needed to be something more somber and austere than the fanciful family portrait of Kristoff’s youth. I wanted to show that years have passed, how the hardships and their personal choices have created a sort of invisible gulf between them but they have a deep bond as adopted family that they can’t ever fully sever. Both are dressed in their best clothing and armor, their portrait shows the image they’ve created for themselves, this is how they present themselves to the world. In contrast to the older portrait there are no colors nor fantastical tiger, instead there are two dogs that give off an almost cerberus vibe, guard dogs instead of a powerful but tamed tiger. Kristoff is waiting just outside of the shadows as Victor’s heir to take his place on the throne of Latveria while Victor sits at the ready to swing his sword in defense of his beloved country and people.
The call back to Victor being the “Lion of Latveria” is in the engraved lion’s head which I thought was another brilliant idea from Ecairnsart. I love how much thought they put into every detail of their work, and how they brought in Victor and Kristoff’s Romani heritage. Ecairnsart also created an unmasked Doom version which I absolutely love as much as the masked version. I love how Victor’s unscarred side is the one he presents to the viewer while the scarred side is hidden a bit more, how he might be uncomfortable being seen unmasked and that perhaps this version of the portrait is one he keeps only in family living spaces in the castle while the other masked version is prominently displayed in the public spaces of the castle. I’ve been a big fan of Ecairnsart’s work for years now and every new piece they create only reminds me how wonderfully talented and dedicated they are to their craft.
I love Victor & Kristoff very much and I’m overjoyed to have another family art of them to cherish.

My Way of Life / Scream 2023 - gotta be a part of your soul and your heart all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and you can aim for my heart, go for blood but you would still miss me in your bones. my tears ricochet / taylor swift
laurie riley can remember the 2011 attacks as if it was yesterday.
she was just a little girl, adopted in the right family at the wrong time, you could say. she didn't necessarily remember her past all that well, not before being taken in by the sheriff, at the time, dewey riley and his wife, the famous reporter, gale weathers. she didn't know of dewey's promise to her mother shortly before her death either. all she ever had of her biological parents was a expensive piece of jewerly that she was sure was the most expensive thing that she had ever owned growing up, a heart shaped necklace with small diamonds on the corners of the heart. inside, was a picture of her.
she had been locked away, confided in the very same bedroom she had fallen asleep in earlier that night, after her babysitter, kirby's friend, charlie, had ordered her some mcdonalds, agreeing with a forced smile to look after the girl while her parents were...busy. truth be told, she hadn't meant to wake up. it was the eerie silence that had stirred her awake, the ticking of the clock being the only thing that had rung in her ears, aside from the muffled sound of whatever movie jill had put on for the young girl that, in a weird way, you could consider her adopted cousin, considering of how highly sidney had spoke about the sheriff, that it only made sense to think of each other as family, right? her little feet tiptoed their way out, taking a quick peek around both corners. nothing. this wasn't normal. she had never felt such a feeling before, but she felt the skin jump out of her body hearing a muffled whimper from outside...seemingly on the porch?
the rest was a blur. kirby was being practically cradled by the boy she had trusted with her entire life, a knife lodged deep into her stomach, breaking and cutting through skin a little with the amount of force by the blows. she hadn't meant to make noise, and neither of them had meant for her to walk in on what was something that a child never should have experienced. but it was a fight or flight type of situation, and maybe if she was just a little older, she could have taken him on. but she was much smaller, thinner. and it was how quick he removed the knife and walked toward her had sent her falling on her ass. she hadn't recognized the smile that was on his face. near damn carnivolific, with small little fangs bearing that she took off as soon as she could. but she didn't make it far, as she barely managed to shut the door as charlie had made it, swinging the dripping weapon with intent, but only engraving the door. she had managed to get a smaller dresser shoved against it, and eventually, she heard him yell something, though it only sounded like a muffled curse before walking away. no one else ever came to that door.
though she heard it all. despite how desperately she tried to drown out the sounds, by the tv playing distinctively in the background, to covering her ears and rocking back and forth as it all got louder.
stabbing. crying. yelling. more yelling. gunshots. more noise.
stabbingcryingyellingmoreyellinggunshotsmorenoisestabbingcryingyellingmoreyellinggunshotsmorenoisestabbingcryingyellingmoreyellinggunshotsmorenoisestabbingcryingyellingmoreyellinggunshotsmorenoi-
she couldn't help but scream feeling a pair of hands on her shoulders, a undescribable feeling of dread had filled her poor heart that night. she was so sure that charlie had came back. to finish the job. but once her vision cleared, and the ringing slowly eased enough to hear, she could make out the silhouette of who was most certainty her dad's friend! someone that...gale didn't seem to care for. but to her, it was all she needed, hugging onto her as soon as she could. she could just cry until she couldn't anymore, and judy hicks just held her. shushed her, rocked her back and forth as if she were her own. it felt nice.
"gale? gale, she's in here!" the blonde shouted, as she focused her gaze instead on the familiar uniform that they shared, her cries turning into light whimpers, her heartbeat slowly coming back down to normal. she didn't hear much of what judy and gale were saying, she felt both women searching her body intensly, before realizing there was a small cut on her hand. so it only seemed right to take her to the hospital where jill, the hero, and her aunt sidney were staying for treatment.
according to her father, jill lied. straight to his face, too. said something that only a killer would have known, but she wasn't fully aware. she knew she received her first stab that day, a piece of glass through the leg by the girl she thought she could trust. she lost consciousness then, having only been found after the aftermath, clinging to the weakening pulse she still had.
the next couple of years wasn't all that fun for her. she learned how to use a gun as soon as she could walk right again. she learned basic self defense, as soon as she was old enough. her father made her take martial arts, just to be able to defend herself. at just aged fourteen, she carried around a switchblade as a way to protect herself.
on the weekends, she'd find herself instead in new york city with her mom and her new boyfriend. oh, right. mom and dad separated. it wasn't that big of a deal for laurie, as she was always much, much more closer with her father. and her small trips there had earned herself a friend, with a silly boy a little younger than her, with a bowl cut but with a extremely endearing personality and a smile that could light up the entire room. she liked him, a lot. but he seemed to like her more. though, laurie didn't quite understand what love was at the time, and the visits slowly stopped as her father retired, and she could tell her father was starting to slowly decline from his long, long years of constant attacks.
just a couple of months after her nineteenth birthday, it started up again. this time, she had her own group of friends. consisting of those from her childhood; tara, wes, and mindy, specifically. but with mindy, came her much more insufferable brother, chad and his girlfriend, liv. they didn't talk much, but laurie liked her. enough to offer to stay behind just to make sure vance wouldn't try anything with her. and then, there was amber. they met in middle school, a little after she stopped visiting new york and they instantly formed a bond. tara called it love at first sight, and a part of laurie wondered if that was true. at the time, she believed so.
though she knew she was declining. the stabs were brutal. the screaming. the cutting.
stabbingmorestabbingscreamingmorescreamsslicingofskinstabbingmorestabbingscreamingmorescreamsslicingofskinstabbingmorestabbingscreamingmorescreamsslicingofskin-
she knew she took too long to react. by the time she ran up to stab the figure carving into her father, she felt a familiar sharp, burning pain in her lower abdomen, and she heard her father choking on his own blood, focused on her now. and she just sobbed, seeing all for herself the life drain from his eyes the longer he looked at her. before there was nothing left. she dropped with him, screaming at the top of her lungs, as for a moment, the figure just watched her, before kicking her in the face. that was enough to knock her out.
but she still wasn't dead. she could feel gentle hands shaking at her, she recognized sam's voice telling richie and paramedics that she was awake, but her eyes didn't leave that of the bag that her father was being zipped into, whispering something that not even sam could understand. she felt herself drift back into the nothingness that waited for her.
and she kept spiraling. after they managed to get her stable, she couldn't stop thinking about it. about what they did. the more she thought, the more the sorrow turned into anger. the more she thought, the more her fist clenched at her side. she needed to seek revenge, for him. it made sense to her at the time. and then, that was all that was in her mind. so the promise was made then. she'd kill them. every last one of them.
she didn't even recognize herself anymore. even after it was all said and done, but where was the satisfication? she made sure they suffered. just like dewey did. but it wasn't enough. why wasn't it fucking enough? she lost count of how many times she tackled amber to the floor once gale and sidney had her distracted, activating her switchblade and...her screams. the blood. gale and sidney even flinching a little. their screams, mixing together, until eventually, amber fell quiet, but she didn't stop. it wasn't until gale pulled her back, that she nearly stabbed her in reflex too. it was all so blurry for her. before eventually, those deep stabs from richie seemed to kick in, the adrenaline fading away and instead, feeling her body go limp in her mother's arms.
that time, she did die. for two minutes. sidney managed to get her breathing again, but she needed multiple blood transfusions just to pull through. she just felt...numb, when she woke up. why her? why couldn't wes, liv, or even judy had of pulled through? at the time, she hated being alive. she just wanted her father, but she could never act irrationally, as tara slept in the same bed with her. they had known each other since they were toddlers, after all. she couldn't leave her, or her and dewey's dog.
so reluctantly, she agreed to go with the group to new york city. its not like she had a choice, tara had signed her up for blackmore with the others. though the moment she was in that car, the better it got. her head resting comfortably in tara's lap, her acrylics digging into her scalp, which just only lulled her to sleep. it didn't help that the cheesy pop music tara had chosen for them to listen to on the drive there was unironically catchy.
to her surprise, she found herself liking it here. aside from how people would target her and sam, specifically, labeling and calling them murderers and other taunting names for their involvement in the woodsboro massacres, believing that they were behind it. laurie though, tried to not let it bother her, as much as she could. it's not like it didn't bother her, sometimes it brought back too much painful memories and she'd lock herself away in her room all day, but she didn't want to be a scared child anymore. she wanted to be free from it all. to live her own fucking life.
though as soon as the first weekend of the first month of their stay at blackmore hit, chad had called everybody to ask if they'd all be okay with going out for a celebratory dinner, and to also just get to know each other, which everyone did agree to. but the last person she didn't expect to see walk in was a familiar face.
a much more older version of who she once knew. she felt her heart skip a beat, and he was sure as hell he did too. he almost looked like a deer in headlights, just as taken aback as she was. the shock was strong, but eventually, both of them smiled widely, almost at the same time. but neither could speak, feeling tingly everywhere in their body. in their hearts, in their souls. like it was meant to be.
"e?" she asks, still taken aback, but a lot more confident in her guess now, which he just smiled wider and ran forward to squeeze her into a hug. one she gladly accepted, the shy boy spinning her around as they both laughed, glad to be in each other's arms again.
but the others just stared, the confusion clear as day for even tara, a part of her childhood that laurie had never once spoken on. but nobody seemed to notice quinn as well, narrowing her eyebrows a little as the realization came in. and how her little brother placed her down and seemed to forget all about how the entire group was there. instead sitting in a booth behind the group, so still around if they wanted to talk, but the two seemed to want to be left alone. smiling, laughing, and complimenting each other.
for chad, it had been the most brave thing of ethan he had ever seen. for the longest time he had known his roomie, he knew of ethan being the shy type of boy who preferred to be by himself and had no clue how to even approach a girl. but here he was, acting like he's known her all his life.
it was just the beginning of the end.

The accents they gave King DeDeDe and Meta Knight in Kirby right back ya are my default when reading any text that is supposed to be that character saying it.
An actual head canon I have is that heart and eyes of Ripple star is a desolate wasteland made of mostly lava and magma with the eyes being two large volcanoes that is the only large piece of solid land on that heart. The people of Ripple Star are extremely resistant heat being able to touch lava for few seconds without lasting burns.
Fr. Those voices will forever be engraved into my mind.
Also wow, that sounds like one hot place to be.

Dredge!AU
Sam and her sister running from their past, the boat they're stowing away on crashes and they wash up on the shore of Greater Woodsboro. Gale, the HBIC, says they're looking for a new fisherman, if Sam's interested in earning her keep. Fisherman!Sam + inventor!Tara, who comes up with more efficient and better ways of fishing. The shipyard is run by the Meeks-Martin twins. Fishmonger!Stu. The travelling merchant is Kirby. Out on the sea, they find bottled diary entries from someone called S.P. They meet a mysterious man known only as The Collector, the letters B.L. engraved upon his suit, who provides blueprints for dredging equipment and asks them to find certain artefacts from shipwrecks. As they travel and improve, they fish up weirder and weirder fish. The fog that rolls in at night brings with it all sorts of hallucinations. There's something about the fog that feels like home. Sometimes she thinks it's fate that bought her here.

In MEMORY of BOB KANE on his BIRTHDAY -
Born Robert Kahn, American comic book writer, animator and artist who co-created, with Bill Finger, the DC Comics character Batman. Kane also co-created the animated series Cool McCool. He was inducted into the comic book industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1993 and into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1996.
Early life and work -
Kahn was born in New York City, New York. His parents, Augusta and Herman Kahn, an engraver, were of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. A high school friend of fellow cartoonist and future Spirit creator Will Eisner, Robert Kahn graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and then legally changed his name to Robert Kane. He studied art at Cooper Union before "joining the Max Fleischer Studio as a trainee animator in the year of 1934".
Comics -
He entered the comics field two years later, in 1936, freelancing original material to editor Jerry Iger's comic book Wow, What A Magazine!, including his first pencil and ink work on the serial Hiram Hick. The following year Kane began to work at Iger's subsequent studio, Eisner & Iger, which was one of the first comic book "packagers" that produced comics on demand for publishers entering the new medium during its late-1930s and 1940s Golden Age. Among his work there was the talking animal feature "Peter Pupp" — which belied its look with overtones of "mystery and menace" — published in the U.K. comic magazine Wags and reprinted in Fiction House's Jumbo Comics. Kane also produced work through Eisner & Iger for two of the companies that would later merge to form DC Comics, including the humor features "Ginger Snap" in More Fun Comics, "Oscar the Gumshoe" for Detective Comics, and "Professor Doolittle" for Adventure Comics. For that last title he went on to do his first adventure strip, "Rusty and his Pals".
Batman -
In early 1939, DC's success with the seminal superhero Superman in Action Comics prompted editors to scramble for more such heroes. In response, Bob Kane conceived "the Bat-Man." Kane said his influences for the character included actor Douglas Fairbanks' film portrayal of the swashbuckler Zorro; Leonardo da Vinci's diagram of the ornithopter, a flying machine with huge bat-like wings; and the 1930 film The Bat Whispers, based on Mary Rinehart's mystery novel The Circular Staircase (1908). Bill Finger joined Bob Kane's nascent studio in 1938. An aspiring writer and part-time shoe salesperson, he had met Kane at a party, and Kane later offered him a job ghost writing the strips Rusty and Clip Carson. He recalled that Kane....
...had an idea for a character called 'Batman', and he'd like me to see the drawings. I went over to Kane's, and he had drawn a character who looked very much like Superman with kind of ... reddish tights, I believe, with boots ... no gloves, no gauntlets ... with a small domino mask, swinging on a rope. He had two stiff wings that were sticking out, looking like bat wings. And under it was a big sign ... BATMAN.
Finger said he offered such suggestions as giving the character a cowl and scalloped cape instead of wings; adding gloves; leaving the mask's eyeholes blank to connote mystery; and removing the bright red sections of the original costume, suggesting instead a gray-and-black color scheme. Finger additionally said his suggestions were influenced by Lee Falk's The Phantom, a syndicated newspaper comic strip character with which Kane was familiar as well. Finger, who said he also devised the character's civilian name, Bruce Wayne, wrote the first Batman story, while Kane provided art. Kane, who had already submitted the proposal for Batman at DC and held a contract, is the only person given an official company credit for Batman's creation. Comics historian Ron Goulart, in Comic Book Encyclopedia, refers to Batman as the "creation of artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger".
According to Kane, "Bill Finger was a contributing force on Batman right from the beginning. He wrote most of the great stories and was influential in setting the style and genre other writers would emulate ... I made Batman a superhero-vigilante when I first created him. Bill turned him into a scientific detective.
The character debuted in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939) and proved a breakout hit. Within a year, Kane hired art assistants Jerry Robinson (initially as an inker) and George Roussos (backgrounds artist and letterer). Though Robinson and Roussos worked out of Kane's art studio in The New York Times building, Kane himself did all his drawing at home. Shortly afterward, when DC wanted more Batman stories than Kane's studio could deliver, the company assigned Dick Sprang and other in-house pencilers as "ghost artists", drawing uncredited under Kane's supervision. Future Justice League writer Gardner Fox wrote some early scripts, including the two-part story "The Monk" that introduced some of The Batman's first "Bat-" equipment.
In 1943, Kane left the Batman comic books to focus on penciling the daily Batman newspaper comic strip. DC Comics artists ghosting the comic-book stories now included Jack Burnley and Win Mortimer, with Robinson moving up as penciler and Fred Ray contributing some covers. After the strip finished in 1946, Kane returned to the comic books but, unknown to DC, had hired his own personal ghosts, including Lew Schwartz and Sheldon Moldoff from 1953 to 1967.
Robin -
Bill Finger recalled that,
Robin was an outgrowth of a conversation I had with Bob. As I said, Batman was a combination of [Douglas] Fairbanks and Sherlock Holmes. Holmes had his Watson. The thing that bothered me was that Batman didn't have anyone to talk to, and it got a little tiresome always having him thinking. I found that as I went along Batman needed a Watson to talk to. That's how Robin came to be. Bob called me over and said he was going to put a boy in the strip to identify with Batman. I thought it was a great idea.
Kane, who had previously created a sidekick for Peter Pupp, proposed adding a boy named Mercury who would have worn a "super-costume". Robinson suggested a normal human, along with the name "Robin", after Robin Hood books he had read during boyhood, and noting in a 2005 interview he had been inspired by one book's N. C. Wyeth illustrations.
The impetus came from Bill's wanting to extend the parameters of the story potential and of the drama. He saw that adding a sidekick would enhance the drama. Also, it enlarged the readership identification. The younger kids could then identify with Robin, which they couldn't with Batman, and the older ones with Batman. It extended the appeal on a lot of levels.
The new character, an orphaned circus performer named Dick Grayson, came to live with Bruce Wayne as his young ward in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940) and would inspire many similar sidekicks throughout the Golden Age of comic books.
The Joker -
Batman's nemesis the Joker was introduced near that same time, in Batman #1 (Spring 1940). Credit for that character's creation is disputed. Kane's position is that
Bill Finger and I created the Joker. Bill was the writer. Jerry Robinson came to me with a playing card of the Joker. That's the way I sum it up. The Joker looks like Conrad Veidt — you know, the actor in The Man Who Laughs, [the 1928 movie based on the novel] by Victor Hugo. ... Bill Finger had a book with a photograph of Conrad Veidt and showed it to me and said, 'Here's the Joker'. Jerry Robinson had absolutely nothing to do with it. But he'll always say he created it till he dies. He brought in a playing card, which we used for a couple of issues for him the Joker to use as his playing card.
Robinson, whose original Joker playing card was on public display in the exhibition "Masters of American Comics" at the Jewish Museum in New York City, New York, from September 16, 2006 to January 28, 2007, and the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum in Atlanta, Georgia from October 24, 2004 to August 28, 2005, has countered that:
Bill Finger knew of Conrad Veidt because Bill had been to a lot of the foreign films. Veidt ... had this clown makeup with the frozen smile on his face (classic). When Bill saw the first drawing of the Joker, he said, 'That reminds me of Conrad Veidt in The Man Who Laughs.' He said he would bring in some shots of that movie to show me. That's how that came about. I think in Bill's mind, he fleshed out the concept of the character.
Robinson added, however, "If you read the Batman historian [E. Nelson] Bridwell, he had one interview where he interviewed Bill Finger and he said no, the Joker was created by me — an acknowledgement. He can be credited and Bob himself, we all played a role in it. ... He wrote the script of that, so he really was co-creator, and Bob and I did the visuals, so Bob was also."
Other characters -
According to comics historian Les Daniels, "nearly everyone seems to agree that Two-Face was Kane's brainchild exclusively". Catwoman, originally introduced by Kane with no costume as "the Cat", was partially inspired by his cousin, Ruth Steel. Kane, a frequent moviegoer, mentioned that Jean Harlow was a model for the design and added that "I always felt that women were feline". Kane created the Scarecrow and drew his first appearance, which was scripted by Finger. Kane also created the original incarnation of Clayface. According to Kane, he drew the Penguin after being inspired by the then advertising mascot of Kool cigarettes — a penguin with a top hat and cane. Finger, however, claimed that he created the villain as a caricature of the aristocratic type, because "stuffy English gentlemen" reminded him of emperor penguins.
Later life and career -
In 1966, Kane retired from DC Comics, choosing to focus on fine art. As Kane's comic-book work tapered off in the 1960s, he parlayed his Batman status into minor celebrity. He enjoyed a post-comics career in television animation, creating the characters Courageous Cat and Cool McCool, and as a painter showed his work in art galleries, although some of these paintings were produced by ghost artists. DC Comics named Kane in 1985 as one of the honorees in the company's 50th anniversary publication Fifty Who Made DC Great. In 1989, Kane published the autobiography Batman and Me, with an updated edition Batman and Me, The Saga Continues, in 1996.
Kane worked as a consultant on the 1989 film Batman and its three sequels with directors Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher.
Stan Lee interviewed Kane in the documentary series The Comic Book Greats.
Personal life -
Kane married his first wife, Beverly, in the 1940s, and the two divorced in 1957. They had a daughter, Deborah. Kane married his second wife, actress Elizabeth Sanders Kane, in 1987.
Kane died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, at the age of 83. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, California.
Awards and honors -
Kane was a recipient of the Inkpot Award in 1977, was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1996. He was added to the National Comics Awards' Roll of Honour in 1999.
On October 21, 2015, for his work in motion pictures, he posthumously received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard.
Kane's work is housed in collections in New York City's Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and St. John's University.

So anyway this is the Cassiopeia constellation. Dusk had it engraved into their armor (and in the Kirby form case, inside their mask) after a year of them being together. The little golden bits are actually pieces of gold that were engraved in as well.
When the 2 broke up, Dusk agonized over whether they should try to get it removed or not, but ultimately decided to keep it as a self-punishment. Besides, no one would ever guess that it's related to their ex, yknow?

Please share some of your 8587420 metadede wedding headcanons, I'd love to hear them /gen
YEAHYEAH YOU GOT IT ANON!!!!! order up under the cut :D
Kirby was sosososo excited to be the flower girl and kept making an absolute mess out of the flowers during rehearsals (Ribbon got to practice with him and cheered the hardest when he finally made it down the aisle in one piece)
Kirby definitely did that thing you see in cute wedding videos where he saw Meta Knight and Dedede at the end of the aisle and sprinted towards them
Bandee was also really excited to be the ring bearer but also had an equal amount of anxiety
but he did such a good job and was super proud of that, good for him :]
Since Kirby and Bandee already had spots, MK and Dedede asked Sailor Dee and Adeleine to walk as their family (kinda like a mother of the bride/groom, but since both their parents don't exist/are super dead, they used the people they considered family)
Adeleine nearly broke down in tears when she realized that Dedede saw her as family
Sailor was just absolutely ecstatic and promised that she would do the best she could (they both did)
The entire wedding had a star/heaven motif (partners who shook the heavens, anyone?)
twas lovingly chosen by the decorations commitee, aka Taranza, Adeleine, and Prince Fluff
oh fun fact i was originally going to have Fluff be the officiator bc royalty, but let's be honest this guy was probably playing the most gorgeous piano piece during the ceremony
Bandana Dee, Adeleine, and MK all got to keep their character-defining headwear during the wedding. This is important.
Out of the reformed villains club (Magolor, Susie, Taranza, Marx), Taranza was the only one allowed to work on the wedding. To everybody else, he acts humble and modest about this privelige, but to their little club, he is rubbing it in everyone's face
Taranza also picked out the flowers for Kirby and the decorations, given that MK and DDD know jack about floral design
You can be sure as hell that all the Meta-Knights and Halberd crew were there, all crying a river
Like even Captain Vul was getting teary eyed
They had the most legendary bachelor (+ Sailor Dee) party ever
All the Castle Dedede waddle dees were there.
All of them.
they took up at least 80% of the seating, but Dedede made sure everyone had a place to sit
Instead of wedding rings, they used bracelets!! (they have,, no fingers guys)
It’s a simple silver band engraved with a hammer and Galaxia on it (yes inspired by that one fic)
because nothing says “i love you” more than you and your partner’s weapon mains crossed together
Meta Knight proposed first because face it this guy is whipped af
He’s been trying to propose since Robobot but every time he tries, he gets comically interrupted by Kirby or Bandee or an eldritch horror or even Dedede himself
They’ve been acting like an old married couple since literally forever, why not make it official?
But also Dedede was overjoyed to have an official big beautiful wedding
Their vows were both meticulously crafted, and while MK was extremely secretive of his, Dedede often pouted about how hard it was to put how much he loved him on paper
like DDD even practiced on MK multiple times just to get it right
In the end though DDD just winged it on the day of
and it was the most pure, lovingly said speech Meta had ever heard
During the kiss, MK did that thing where he used his mask to cover their faces like in old western movies
Marx and Magolor, who only came for the potential face reveal, were monumentally disappointed, “oh cOME ON” “what a ripoff! i can’t believe i changed my hat and got a new bowtie for this! i demand a refund!”
Susie was also lowkey miffed but she found Marx and Magolor’s reactions way funnier
Kirby and Bandee, however, were hyped up more than anything for the wedding
“If your dad marries my dad, then that means that we’d be siblings for real!!!!”
they were honestly more excited and impatient than MK and DDD were lol
now they have officially become a big happy family <333

Eddie and Kirby Little Slices of Canon (2/?)
Me and @piratewithvigor have been talking about different things we think about Eddie and Kirby's relationship. It led to this.
@tantamount-treason @thedollmaker16 @janetreader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SFW & NSFW under the cut.
Kirby and Eddie 'argue' over the little things and most 'arguments' are actually just foreplay. For example, Kirby forgets to get Eddie a box of cigarettes and his usual can of Monster and Eddie backs her into their bedroom to 'teach her a lesson about forgetting his shit'
Kirby will purposefully annoy Eddie by refusing to tell him stuff in English so he tends to fuck the information out of her.
Sometimes she'll do it with useless things, for example the one time she wanted to ask him to fuck her and decided that asking him in Irish would be better because she can wind him up until he fucks her and then she's killed two birds with one stone. It frustrates him a little bit, but he can't deny it's funny.
Also, Kirby will ask Eddie if he likes her when she's having a bad day and Eddie can't help but show her he adores her. Eddie always likes her and will always tell her so whenever he can.
Eddie teaches the boys how to flex very early in life, purely so he can show Kirby and his mother, it usually goes Eddie hollering 'Ma' to get their attention before making one of his sons flex as he flexes and chuckling softly as he says 'that's my boy'.
Also, Eddie's the type of Dad who gets very serious about sports, like will yell at the officials of little league baseball games when a 'bad call' gets made. Eddie tells Kirby it's to teach his kids about justice. Kirby just tells him to not get them banned from sports.
Eddie's father tries to teach the kids the same things he taught Eddie, like how because they're Irish and from New York people aren't going to like them. Eddie gets upset over it because he doesn't want his boys growing up thinking they're unloved or unlovable. Eddie teaches his and Kirby's kids to be fiercely proud of themselves.
Eddie and Kirby definitely train together, and there always seems to be a blurred line between training and sex.
If (or rather when) Eddie and Kirby have a daughter (or daughters), Eddie tries to protect her from everything despite the fact Kirby teaches their kids how to defend themselves.
Eddie giving his kids wrestling lessons and promo classes, even though the kids are way too young to wrestle professionally.
Eddie doesn't give a fuck if his kids are giants or not, he's too busy making sure they know that no matter what they're loved and they should love themselves.
Eddie's the type to make dumb jokes when he sees Kirby's not having a good day.
Both Kirby and Eddie make sure that each other takes any medications they need to.
Eddie always tells Kirby she looks hot with no makeup on, but if Kirby puts time into her makeup, Eddie can't deny that she looks badass and hot.
Eddie take care of Kirby when she has nightmares, especially when she wakes up screaming in terror.
Eddie is with Evil Uno for a twitch stream, and reads one of the comments and it says 'doesn't Eddie have a big tiddy goth gf?' And Eddie's like 'yeah, I did, I made her my wifey'.
He stands and walks between her and the road if they're walking or standing on the sidewalk, he also is the first person to see her after matches because he'll make sure to get to her before she gets to the locker room.
Eddie's wedding ring has both Kirby date of birth (D M Y- 13 01 1991) engraved inside (on one side inside) and their wedding date (01 12 2020) engraved on the other. Eddie's the type to 'forget' to take his ring off if he gets in a fist fight, where as Kirby will always take hers off so she doesn't break the ring. His is simple for that reason. So that if it gets bent out of shape, it can be fixed. It's just a plain silver ring, because he never plans on removing it, the only times he does is when he showers, washes his hands or has a match, but that's why Kirby bought him a chain to put it on, so instead of it being on his hand, it's close to his heart.
Eddie definitely takes Kirby out for their anniversary, he will cancel plans (unless it's work related) to take her out, because it's their anniversary and he is not taking no for an answer when it comes to showing off his beautiful wifey. He will spend 24 hours with her and have all attention directed to her.
Kirby sometimes has truly horrible mental health days, it will get to the point where she asks Eddie, with all seriousness, 'are you tired of me?' Also during some of those bad days Kirby's brain is certain that she's a monster and she'll yell at Eddie to 'stay away' because she's terrified of hurting him.
There are times when Kirby cries in the shower and when Eddie comes to check on her she acts like everything's okay but Eddie's knows, he might act stupid, but he knows. He always knows. He knows her better than anyone.
Sometimes when Eddie gets mad Kirby has to physically pick him up to stop him charging at people and starting fights.
Eddie taking Kirby to the cinema for dates whenever a superhero movie comes out, and occasionally when there's a horror movie out, the first horror movie they go to makes Kirby jump and because they're sitting at the very back of the theatre Eddie can get away with a lot.
Kirby will sing when she zones out doing work, so sometimes Eddie just randomly gets to listen to Kirby singing stuff from Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah to It's Tricky by Run DMC.

Georgia: 2022 NCAA Division I FBS National Champions
Tumblr media
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- For so long, Georgia was the flagship program of the really good but not quite great. It produced a few decades of pretty nice seasons ending in pretty nice bowl games played by a lot of really good players dressed in red, white and black. But the Dawgs were always a few steps behind the sport's elite.
They were always one play shy of beating Alabama. Always a few five-star recruits behind Florida. Always a few inches short when measured against the true ruling class of college football, even as the head of that class rolled through different eras and teams, from Miami and Nebraska to Southern California and seemingly every team in the SEC except for the one in Athens, Georgia.
But on a damp Monday night outside Los Angeles, the Georgia Bulldogs didn't simply engrave their names onto the measuring stick by which all other college football programs are measured, they pulled that stick off the desk and beat the TCU Horned Frogs with it. Now, the conversation about Georgia football isn't about what it hasn't been able to do. It's about what it might be able to do that few have ever done before: move past building championship seasons and move into building a championship era.
"I don't know about that word, era; I'm not even sure what an era is," Kirby Smart confessed as he headed from the confetti-covered SoFi Stadium field to the cigar-smoke-filled locker room after winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. "But I know what a great program looks like, a program that is built to last. I was part of four national championships as an assistant coach at Alabama. I know how hard it is to get to the peak of the sport, and I know it is even harder to stay there. I know what the foundation of that looks like. I think we are building that foundation. I hope we are."
Consider it built. Concrete poured, cured and seemingly built to last.
UGA won its second national title in a row, only the fourth team to do so since 1990 and the first in the nine-year College Football Playoff era. It did it via a beatdown the likes of which hasn't been seen in a college football title game of any format in 152 years of college football. Not the 1971 Orange Bowl (Nebraska 38, Alabama 6). Not the 1972 Rose Bowl (USC 42, Ohio State 17). Oklahoma 1985 (25-10 over Penn State). Nebraska 1995 (62-24 over Florida). USC in 2004 (55-19 over Oklahoma). Florida in 2006 (41-14 over Ohio State). Not even the previous standard-bearer for title game dominance: Alabama over Notre Dame 42-14 in the 2013 BCS championship. Miami in 2001, LSU in 2019, whatever comes up while thumbing through the record books … not a single one of those juggernaut teams or lopsided evenings on the gridiron comes close to approaching the 65-7 Bulldogs bulldozing that took place Monday night at SoFi Stadium.
It demoralized the upstart Horned Frogs and sent shivers into the souls of any team hoping to stand in TCU's cleats anytime soon. It was the most lopsided postseason victory since bowl games made their debut in Pasadena, California, in 1902, capping a 17-game winning streak, the longest for Georgia since 1947. The Bulldogs' 29 wins ties the mark for any major college team over a two-season span and is the most ever for an SEC school. Monday's victory rewrote page after page of the college football history book.
"Georgia, obviously you've seen them in the past couple of seasons now, really, they've taken hold of college football." That declaration was made by former Georgia All-American linebacker turned TV analyst David Pollack during ESPN's halftime coverage of the game, when the score was 38-7.
He said it while sitting beside the network's guest analyst for the evening, Alabama coach Nick Saban.
If it's possible to say it, the game was even worse than the score. It was such a throttling that Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett, shortly after tying LSU signal-caller Joe Burrow's CFP title game for points responsible for (36), was pulled from the game … with 13:25 remaining in the fourth quarter.
This is a team that lost 15 -- yes, 15! -- players to the 2022 NFL draft, five more than any other team, and simply reloaded. A defense that was supposed to take a step backward after a 2021 unit that was statistically speaking among the greatest of all time instead limited TCU -- which came into the game averaging 474 yards and 41 points per game -- to 188 yards and one solitary TD. A team that looked emotionally and physically exhausted after a New Year's Eve thriller comeback win over Ohio State in the CFP semifinals responded by embarking on a week of practice that Bennett described in the days leading up to the title game as "a damn reconstruction project."
"You attack every aspect of this as a challenge," Bennett, 25, recalled of the week, quick to praise the UGA scout team that played the role of tough-as-railroad-spikes TCU quarterback Max Duggan. "Now I am done, but I think that those who are still here, and maybe those of us who are gone, have a responsibility to make sure this keeps rolling. Make sure you feel the pressure of keeping up what has been built."
The comment showed shades of those all-time teams that Georgia once chased. The legendary Miami Hurricanes calling out from NFL locker rooms to those youngsters now in their beloved orange and green to ask what happened after a loss to a rival or one that ended a streak. Saban's Alabama veterans showing up to spring practice to talk to their heirs about maintaining the principals of the process.
"That's what we all have to guard against, complacency, and I am talking about coaches, players, even fans, never taking a night like this one for granted," said Smart, who played defensive back on a lot of those good but never great Bulldogs teams of the 1990s. "You have to expect to be in these games and expect to win these games, but you can't assume that it will happen. And I think that's why trying to win a third straight championship will be an even steeper challenge than this one was. We lost so many guys last year and have so many more guys coming back next year. That's more chances for complacency."
It's also more chances to benefit from experience, to lean on been there, done that. More than half of this season's starters were redshirt sophomores or younger. They'll be paired with what will be Georgia's seventh consecutive top-three recruiting class.
Smart is only 47 years old. His former mentor, the guy sitting awkwardly next to Pollack, is 71. The GOAT was fully focused on what was in front of him. Saban always is. "I have hard time watching football because it's always work," Saban confessed the morning of the game. "How would we scheme against this? How are they accomplishing that? And in the case of what Kirby has done at Georgia, that is especially true. That's the greatest compliment I can give any program, that everyone in our business has to watch everything you do."
Yes, there are plenty of cautionary tales when it comes to college football dominion collapses. The transfer portal; name, image and likeness (NIL); an expanded playoff -- the list of what has derailed the mighty and could do the same to Dawgs in the future is ever changing. All of those teams listed earlier, from Miami to Nebraska to USC, have fallen from "they can't be beaten!" to "whatever happened to those guys?" It was just four winters ago when Clemson was playing in its fourth CFP title game in five years, and it has since slowly started sliding from the national conversation.
But even the players and coaches from those ruling-class programs, hailing from every spot along the timeline of college football history, likely spent their Monday night like the rest of us, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and wondering if what we witnessed against TCU might be a lot closer to the beginning of something big than it is to any conceivable end.
"I want to enjoy tonight, and I will," said Georgia's Brock Bowers, the All-American tight end who hauled in seven catches for 152 yards and a TD. He also is one of those sophomores. "But we go back to work as soon as we get home. There is always work to be done."
That's how it goes when you're building an empire.
