Hi!! Hope you're doing good! I'm so glad to see that you're writing for Lockwood and co, I really love your writing style :)

Could I request for a scenario with a reader who like, scold george after what happened with Joplin? Like, in a "how could you believe something nonsensical such as us not needing you?! I need you!" type of way (in ep 8). I've been meaning to yell at him for at least 45 minutes when I heard him saying that Lockwood and Lucy didn't need him, lmao—

I Need You

Pairing: George Karim x Fem!Reader

Warnings: Kissing, Mentions of blood, tears, saddness.

You were sat in the back of a DEPRAC ambulance with a paramedic placing stitches onto your forhead and wiping off some of the blood that had attached itself to your face, your hair was slightly matted with blood and your ponytail had dropped, George was sat next to you, your hand in his lap, with Lucy and Lockwood standing and observing the paradmedic flit around you like an annoying fly that you desperately wanted to hit but you could not. Even though George was next to you and holding onto your hand to distract you from the pain Joplin put you through and to stop you from punching the paramedic, you still wondered what would have happened if Lucy had not shown up. Would George have died looking into that mirror? Would he have died thinking that he was not needed by anyone?

"What are you thinking about Y/n/n?" Lockwood spoke noticing how you were staring at the ground, zoned out as you had not realised that the paramedic had left and it was just you four left.

"Mmn" You lifted your head not fully hearing what Lockwood said because some blood was in your ear from the Impact of being thrown into a wall by a ghost and because you were too busy worried about George.

"What are you thinking about?" Lockwood asked you again patiently knowing how you often got caught up in your mind.

"Oh nothing" You answered kicking a stone with your feet making everyone raise their eyebrows at your blatant lie. "George can I talk to you for a minute. Alone"

The bespectacled boy nodded jumping off the horrendously bright yellow ambulance and you followed him to the side of the building where you would be out of sight. Unkown to the both of you a certain duo were watching you two from a far. "So what did you want to talk about" He smiled at you while placing his hands in his puffer jacket.

You raised your hands and pushed him back softly making him stumble back in shock. "You George Karim are an absolute idiot."

"What have I done!" The boy exclaimed his voice going higher as he had no idea why you were angry.

"How could someone be so smart yet stupid at the same time?"

"I'm afraid I don't follow" George tilted his head in confusion, for once he could not figure you out. Only he could read you and your emotions like a book but in this very moment he was puzzled at you.

"We need you George. I might have been blacking out from the pain when Joplin called her guard dog ghost to chuck me against the wall but I still heard everything you said" You started but stopped when you saw him wince of the memory of you getting thrown into a wall and when he expressed how he truly felt.

"Y/n-" He stepped forward taking your hand into his but soon frowned when you pulled it away as if it was a burning pan.

"No Let me talk. George you are the glue that holds us together. You try to stop Lockwood from doing something suicidal and stupid even though it never works sometimes and You helped Lucy when she wanted to try something and banded against Lockwood and as much as you hate to admit it you like Lucy and she is not a pain in your arse but a friend. Nothing you said is true. We need you George." Tears were threatening to fall down your still half bloodied face but you had managed to contain the tears with a Dam. You lightly hit his chest again where he caught your hand and held it to his chest so you could feel his heart beat as he knew that was not the only reason you were upset.

"Whe-when you talked of looking in that mirror I was so scared." your voice breaking when you started the sentance and your voice going quiet when you admitted to being scared. The dam broke. Tears started flowing freely down your cheeks but you never broke eye contact with George looking into his brown eyes calmed you for a second as it reminded you that he was still here and In front of you. "I was scared. Scared of losing you because I need you. I don't care that you are odd. I mean look at us, none of us are normal and I am pretty sure Lockwood is insane. I need you George. You might feel that none of us need you but we do and for the love of God I will spend the rest of my life trying to prove it-"

Your last sentance was muffled by George as he pulled your arm gently so your body was close to him with inches between you, before you could think his lips were on yours, shutting you up. The kiss was sweet yet passionate at the same time. You pulled away and raised your hand up to his cheek and laughed softly when you saw that his glasses were fogged up. "Your glasses are all fogged up"

"Oh, nevermind" He pulled you back into a kiss, placing his hand on the side of your face that was not covered in dried blood. He made a mental note to make sure that was cleaned of your face because that definitely could not have been comfortable for you. But at the current moment he did not care that they had all just escaped death again and that their body's were all fighting exhaustion. All he cared about was you.

In the background behind a Yellow DEPRAC van a certain teenager was celebrating that his bestfriends were together after they have been dancing around each other for a year, he looked towards Lucy who held a small smile for her two new friends.

Happy Monday all :) Just realized we are over halfway done with s4. Crazy ha Naturally after an intense Chenford ep we have the next one be little lighter. Sadly they are missing 90 percent of this episode so it'll be a shorter one. But there is good moments of growth and such. Let’s get going.

4x13 Fight or Flight

Lucy is attached to Nolan’s helicopter kid situation. Which robs us of any Chenford in this episode. Thanks a lot Nolan…I could tell that kid was suspect af in the elevator and I’m not even a cop. John asks for Lucy to ride with him so he can get into this kids mind. It is awesome she is sought after for her psychological experience. We all know Nolan isn’t going to be able to do that…

We get a little crumb at the beginning of the episode. Tim was clearly waiting for her. I love how he instantly supports her. Doesn’t question why she’s helping or upset she is doing that instead of them riding together. Only that if she needs anything he is there for her. Little moments make my heart happy. So I shall take them in lighter eps.

We do get some good Tim and Angela moments which I will always be happy to enjoy. Tim runs into her and she tells him she has an old ‘friend’ of his in for questioning. He was pulled over and had a diamond bracelet in his car. It’s tied him to a home invasion that left 3 people dead. I do love getting a look into Tim’s work past and former arrests. Which ones are hang ups for him and such. She asks him if he’d like in on the interrogation?

Tim of course jumps right on it. Once he’s in the box Dez is deny deny deny about the bracelet. Saying he got it for his mother and lost the receipt. Ok buddy... Noting he was working the night the home invasion occurred. That his boss would confirm that for him. Watching Tim take charge in the interrogation is *fans self* Not to mention the bicep and forearm shots in this. Killing me softly sir.

Besides him looking fine af just sitting there I always enjoy watching him take charge in any capacity. .i.e. this moment. Why I love Metro Tim so much. It's sexy the way he walks over and commands his attention. Tries to connect with this guy. Knowing they have a past trying to use it to their advantage. Also him using words like recidivism getting me all hot and bothered. Idk why it just is LOL Anyways lets get back on track....Tim tells Dez he knows he wouldn’t have killed anyone. But they need his help to catch the people who did harm that family. They just need a name. He gives them the name of his lawyer instead. Wah wah

Seeing Lucy with Nolan it’s hard to believe they were ever matched up. Boggles the mind really. Just in how they’re approaching this situation alone. Lucy gets an ID for this kid from dispatch. His name is Leo Thomas. He's just a teenager. Nolan mentioning well adjusted kid’s don’t steal police helicopters. Lucy going on to say could just be teenager attention-seeking behavior. Trying to standout and establish their identity.

How it’s gotten so much worse with social media. She isn't wrong. I can only imagine. Its way more than when I was a teenager. Not to date myself but I only had myspace and facebook for most part and I didn't even use FB till like 2008 honestly. Oh and instagram. I think lol My point is as a millennial we didn't have the amount of platforms that are around now. It's insane. I can't imagine trying to establish an identity on them.

So Lucy saying social media having an impact on behavior is accurate. I believe that. It’s funny how John asked for Lucy to tag along and to get in the kids head. Then when she does he fights her on it a little. *eye roll* Also why am I not surprised he was a boring teenager? LMAO This doesn’t shock Lucy either. Him questioning her being a rebel. With the parents she had growing up? I have no doubt she was. You don’t know her like that John and it shows…

Nolan tries to connect with Leo now that he knows his name. John doing a big swing and a miss with him right off the bat. Trying to connect over now his family is sick with worry. Goes over like a lead ballon. He gets back on track with him though. Asking about learning to fly through video games? How impressive that is. Nolan starts to get some traction with the video game bonding. Leo begins to open up saying usually in a game how the main character survives through allies.

He asks John if he’s an ally? Lucy nodding her head fervently. Unreal how he needed to turn to Lucy for that answer. Do love her directing this whole thing though. What a downgrade from Tim eh Lucy? heh. Leo tells them they need to go on some quests first. Then they can talk about him landing this helicopter. John is skeptical to say the least.

Its why Nolan keeps biffing it with this kid. Honestly it’s a wonder he got put on this kid at all. Good thing Lucy is there to steer the ship. I love love love her being the leader on this. Look at our bad ass. Questioning his decision making skills and backing it with rock solid logic. Also sound psychology. You know the whole reason he brought her in the first place......

Nolan may have a good connection with people but he doesn’t have the logic and emotional intelligence Lucy does. John is ready to throw in the towel but Lucy isn’t. She crushes it with some damn good logic. Explaining why he should give into this kid and what he wants. It’s like he completely forgotten why he was assigned this kid in the first place. To build rapport and get him down on the ground. Good thing Lucy is there or this would be going so much worse.

He sends them on their first quest. To what looks like drug den. Saying he lost a raven haired girl he used to like from there from an OD. He couldn't save her but they can at least take down the monsters who caused her death. We find shortly after that was a lie. Since he has been home schooled for the last year. Nolan tries to get him to come down after one quest. Of course he doesn’t. It’s like John hasn’t caught on to the game here lol They ask for their next quest and he asks if they like alligators? HA

We return to Tim back at the station. He’s called in Dez’s boss to verify his ‘alibi’. At first he’s corroborating it until Tim says he’s suspected of triple murder. Tim dismantling Dez's alibi within minutes of meeting this man. I love it so much. His boss immediately amends his statement and says he paid him off. To clock him in and let him go and he did the same thing for tonight as well. Tim reports this back to Angela ASAP. That they don’t have time to wait for his lawyer. They have something far more pressing. Another target to locate. If they don’t figure out where that is more bodies are going to drop.

Lucy and Nolan are on their second quest. This part cracks me up. Dude they’re arresting is defending his alligator. Saying Cupcake is a sweetheart. Lucy’s reply cracks me up ‘Cupcake ate my taser’ LMFAO. His attachment to this creature is intense to say the least. The good thing about this second quest is there is a pattern though. Both quests have involved big drug arrests. Nolan tries to press the kid for it and nada. He continues on to tell them they’re going to have their final quest soon enough.

Tim shows up at Dez’s house mid-search. He instantly goes into sexy Sergeant mode. Asking Webb what they’re found so far? It would appear nothing at the moment. So Tim takes over the scene. I love watching him in action. So confident and sure of himself. While teaching in the process. Yum Yum. Sexy teacher Tim is in the house.

Just takes control of this search and makes it more efficient. He's so good at his job. Also he is growing as a Sergeant. Took control without fully taking control and doing it himself. He delegated his team to re-work their search pattern. Look at him go. So proud of him. Growing as a leader makes my heart happy to see.

We circle back to helicopter kid. They are slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle together. The guy they just arrested works with his mom’s BF. He's a known associate of his. It would appear they have a drug distribution chain going on. That one of the dealers they sell to was arrested and had to do with quest number one.

Lucy jumps in with her POV. This is why Nolan brought her along. Love watching her flex her psych brain. That muscle innate in her as she analyzes this situation. We finally find out why Leo took the helicopter. That quest #3 is to save his mother from her drug dealer BF. The problem is they don’t have any evidence linking this guy to what they’ve found today and he only has 40 minutes of fuel left…

We jump back to the house with Tim and his team. They still haven’t found anything linking Dez to the 2-11. Tim has an epiphany and calls in a bomb sniffing dog. Explaining that they look for ingredients for a bomb or gunpowder from an illegal firearm. That's what they need to implicate Dez. I will also take Tim Bradford talking to a dog all day long. Ovary explosion for me. *fans self* The way he roasts this dog for getting distracted by a squirrel LOL I’m dying I love this man so very much.

Thor eventually finds exactly what they’re looking for. Pawing at a spot Tim is able to crack open and find the evidence they need. Look at him listening to all past advice Grey gave. Not showing up to a scene early. When he does he delegates and doesn’t take over completely. While still teaching in the process of that delegating. He would be proud. Lucy too if she could see this.

Grey is able to get Murray to flip on Brian. Using cupcake Lmao it’s hilarious. Wants to make sure she’s taken care since she ate Lucy's taser. So he rolls on his partners including Brian. All for his alligator's well being it's too damn funny. Grey is delighted that’s all it took. Nolan and Lucy are able to complete quest number 3. They have him fly over his house so he can see them arresting Bryan. Telling him it is finally time to land that helicopter. He agrees and says he’s been air sick for hours ha They arrest him once he’s landed. Lucy looks so sad about it but they really don’t have a choice in the matter.

Tim returns to Angela with the evidence they needs against Dez. He flips once Tim has hard evidence against him. Gives them every job, every crew member and what they’re going to hit tonight. They catch up to the getaway driver fairly easily. It is fun to watch this bad ass duo work together. Question him easily about the men inside and what they’re walking into. Tells them three men are inside the house not including himself.

They find out 2 of the 3 are upstairs looting. While the third is hovering over the family with a gun. Angela doesn’t want to go in hot with this third guy. Worried he’ll hurt the family in retaliation. Tim tells her then they go in a different way. A way I very much approve of. Why you ask? We get Tim Bradford in a TIGHT white t-shirt. Pretending to be a delivery guy. Mmmm just look how taut that shirt is across his muscled chest.

Sweet baby James this man is fit. Could wash clothes on those washboard abs of his. Don’t get me started on the gun show that is his biceps. Popping out of those sleeves. We also get some nice forearm action as well in these shots. Nothing for me to analyze except his beautiful form in these gifs. Imma need some ice water. This man does things to me. *ahem* Let's get back to the story at hand...

Tim knocks on the door. Angela has the getaway drivers phone. So she texts the gun happy third guy it’s just food delivery. This gets him close to the door where they want him. Once he’s close enough they push through a flash bang grenade. Taking him out pretty quickly. Then we get to watch some poetry in motion.

Tim and Angela moving like badasses to secure the house. Just a couple besties taking down criminals like it’s nothing. These are some great shots of these two. I would like more Angela/Tim shots in s6. Just add that to my s6 wishlist haha Metro and the detectives working together be fun to watch. If I can’t have Chenford I’ll take Tim/Angela moments.

We started with a crumb and we get to end with a crumb. I love Tim being the one to initiate a drink after work. He’s grown so very much makes me wanna cry. We all know it’s because of his relationship with Lucy. Our hardened grumpy Tim while still grumpy has grown a lot. Look at him not only doing post work hang but making jokes. Saying it’s all on Nolan ha! Such a nice moment. Until Grey comes over and says Cupcake broke free from animal control LOL Angela's reply is the best 'Who's Cupcake?' So very confused haha

Not a lot of Chenford but good moments and growth none the less. Next episode will be a good one for them.

Well this entire episode was that haha I did enjoy Harper’s SL with Aaron and him trying to get that man justice. His reason why behind it and all as well. He develops very nicely as a character. I do love having him around a lot.

not to be extremely predictable abt the characters i ask abt but do you imagine any of the p7 are still around during or right before the future au? i know they are. Old. but i always am fond of the concept of like the old folks helping out at the camp after pn2.

Im always so very tossed up about how and If the p7 are still around during the aac timeline . But for the sake of “it would be funny if,” I will simply say they Are. (And ramble more about the thoughts ive had about a couple that might Not be and Why under a cut bc its kind of depressing)

Otto will never die and will never leave the Motherlobe much to Hollis and Truman’s dismay. The older he gets the more powerful he gets. He continues to contribute, arguably with increasing efficiency, but as each year passes he gets less and less concerned about getting caught doing things outside of the parameters of Psychonauts rules. “What are you gonna do? Fire me? Lmao” *goes back to working on his death beam that he just made because it was funny.*

I have this hc that at some point Sam makes it her mission to renovate the Lumberstack Diner as the Questionable Area? becomes more profitable over the years. And i think Compton working as a cook there would be a nice little job for him to have while in retirement. Cooking is like the one type of stress he can handle i think. Hes so so scared but in the comfort of something familiar so its less likely to cause him to start blowing things up.

Bob and Helmut deserve a nice little retirement home and I think theyre the primary residents of the Gulch (next to maybe Cassie and Compton?) They supervise (re: sometimes run into and chat with) Raz and his team who have basically taken up their own residence in the Gulch. Perks of being teammates with agent Aquato and Zanotto is that you dont have to resort to dormitories.

I’m not sure what’s up with Cassie! I don’t think she’s doing much either, probably also sticking around the Gulch. Though i think through the support of the others she at least gets Slightly more involved with the Psychonauts or going out into towns to do book signings so that she doesn’t become a complete and total recluse again.

I think Ford and Lucy are out traveling a lot while they’ve still got the time to. Making up for a whole lotta lost time n all that, giving each other time to talk and jazz. They’re not around a lot but they visit often!

Ok. And a very specific less sweet outcome for Ford and Lucy under the cut

When i run through which characters it would be like. Narratively “Best” to have passed away around the AAC timeline, my mind always immediately jumps to these two. Like obviously I think some characters would be more likely to have died before them (looking at you my friend Bob) or ones that could be more impactful in other directions (Cassie and Compton having to learn to exist without one another) but considering their last narrative experiences in Pn2 was finding each other again for the first time in years, it feels like any of those four (Bob, Helmut, Cassie, Compton) passing away would just be a disservice to prior storytelling. And Otto will never die, as I’ve said, so don’t even worry about him <3

I just think a lot about a story in which Ford and Lucy pass on before Raz can ever really reconcile any of his issues he had with either of them. A story in which he’s happy to see them getting along and traveling together, but every time they leave he holds his breath and counts down the days until they make it back and he can guarantee they’re still alive and he goes “This time, this time I’ll say something,” and then he doesn’t because how do you even bring up that conversation after all this time.

And then eventually they pass and it’s almost poetic, really, going at around the same time. But he never got to say anything to them, never got to reconcile and barely got a goodbye. And now he has to learn how to deal with that. How to deal with the fact that they’re still everywhere, in True Psychic Tales issues, on murals, on old pictures, inherently buried in the history of the psychonauts.

And i dont know. I think it’s an interesting story to explore. In a hypothetical real Psychonauts future story, you enter the story with some characters trying to question Raz about something theyre worried about that he always cuts off or dodges before you get to hear, but the lack of any mention of Ford or Lucy is so absent that it’s palpable. Stuff like that.

lucy hate is wild. i’d be doing the same stuff to find a little bit of happiness even if it’s fake, or trying to salvage the facade a bit longer. i can’t imagine how sad her life must be at it’s core. she is a victim of that society too 💔

no fr like hawk ignoring her affair is the least he can do imo lmao bc he’s not the one to talk

i really do feel for her bc yeah her life is sorta based on a lie - she knows her husband likes men, so theres also a sort of shame that comes with that bc like hawk and tim, lucy was also a product of that time

and then continuing that facade for so many years and it probably impacting the relationship she has with her kids especially her son

i feel both lucy and hawk are very isolated individuals despite appearing to have the perfect life from the outside (even in the 80s) and whilst tim has it very hard and struggled throughout his life, he had a community around him in the later years and i am grateful for that at the very least bc that is very important

apologies in advance to like, the 3 people following me but I will not shut the fuck up about this series lmao. The books had such an impact on me when I started reading them in middle school (hell, Lucy was the reason I finally cut my hair short, cause if she could do it, why couldn't I?) And I'm just... So fucking happy rn. My all time favorite book series, the one that helped me gain confidence and grow into my own person, the one I would spend hours consuming any bit of content on, the one where once I started reading it I couldn't stop got such a beautiful adaptation.... I just,, don't know how to put it into words but omg just AAAAAAAAAAAAA they're on my TV screen!!!! These characters I hold so near and dear to my heart so accurately portrayed!!!! My favorite thing about the Jasper/Maria ship, dynamic, or whatever is how complicated and mysterious they are, like we don’t know much about them but what we DO know speaks to something deeper going on that isn’t quite explored. Like they make each other worse but they also make each other BETTER! It’s insane to think about really. Everyone’s usually like “they make each other worse!” but you’re like the only person to point out just how much they also make each other better and your points are so solid it got me thinking!

Like it’s honestly crazy to think about how they’re both in such bad circumstances and they’ve done bad things together; but there’s also the fact that they’re so tender and forgiving towards each other, how much they’ve learned from each other (especially from Confederate!Jasper’s side considering he had a LOT to learn/unlearn), and how they made each other stronger, smarter, etc.. while being from two completely different worlds yet they met and bonded through a similar core experience: War.

They became winners together after having lost so much before and they both chose each other naturally. Jasper could have chosen to follow Lucy or Nettie at any time but he chose Maria and he knew from the moment he met them that she was the special one, the leader. “It was immediately clear that the brunette was somehow in charge of the others. If they'd been military, I would have said that she outranked them.”

Maria was able to pick apart his compelling nature and knew he would be special/useful to her too, that’s why she chose to keep him and changed him herself bc one of the others said they were more likely to kill him. She probably didn’t expect to develop feelings for him later down the line but that’s for another conversation lol. They met by chance and they chose each other. They saw something.

I think both characters know this deep down and that’s why they still have some leftover feelings for each other. To me it’s the only thing that explains their out-of-character behavior towards each other. Like come on there’s no way Jasper is just thinking and talking about Maria like that if she didn’t still have an impact on him and there’s no way Maria’s just randomly thinking of him enough to want to find and visit him if he didn’t have some sort of impact on her too.

That speaks to so much potential between them. If they were so powerful and successful and hung-up on each other in the unfortunate situations they were in, imagine how powerful and strong they’d have been if they were in better circumstances. It gives me such a “right person, wrong time” feeling with them. Idk just my thoughts. You seem like the only person I can share these with lol.

you're right, there's so much deeper shit going on between Jasper & María, it's kinda crazy that all these other characters/ships get so much more attention when Jasper/María literally have a built-in story! only semi-related, but the fact that Jasper mentions she had a good judge of character, and the fact that she seemed to look specifically for humans who would be gifted/powerful, makes me wonder if she didn't have some sort of gift herself. i like to think that Nettie & Lucy didn't betray her bc of something she did but rather bc they simply couldn't cope with the way María always chose Jasper & her country above all. María's gift is that she sees the good & the strength & value in people. even when they don't see it in themselves. war is simply not a good medium for people to reach their full potential...& once María draws it out of them, they discover want more for themselves than what death & violence can give them. in Nettie & Lucy's case, they lash out bc they assume they will never live up to María's vision. in Jasper's case, he defects so he can live up to the person she sees in him ❤️ María's weakness is she gets so focused on her mission she gets tunnel vision, so these are all seen to her as betrayals

but i imagine María realizes this down the road & works on healing herself instead of her country. obviously the Southern Wars haven't gotten out of control, & wtf does Jasper know about the South's situation after his 150-year absence? maybe the fact that she hasn't gotten herself in trouble lets him know that she's more focused these days on looking out for herself, finding potential within instead of working in vain to fix something that can realistically never be repaired in the way she always dreamed. & that's ok :)

all he knows is she's got a softer side & that he's rooting for her on her own journey to healing, & he will always wish her well 😌

Sorry to speak of CWSG but I didn't follow you back when it was still airing, so I'm curious. Were there any changes in the show that you actually would've liked to see brought into the comics, instead of the ones that did? Or even that you just liked as an AU kind of thing?

thank u for the question i love hating on this show so don't apologize <3 there are a couple things i liked from cwsg that i wouldn't have minded being put into the comics but they're more so like. general ideas rather than anything super specific:

obv kara is an adult now in recent comics but they should've let her age up at the beginning of rebirth to match the show. even if they only made her like 18 or 19 years old (since she was only 15 at the beginning of her new 52 series) it would've been more interesting to see her begin her adult life (something that hadn't been explored since pre crisis) rather than see her be a young teen for the billionth time.

i liked her friendship w jimmy olsen in the show and i've always felt like kara, jimmy and lucy lane should be in the same age range (supergirl 1984 slay) so that's something i would've liked to have seen brought into the comics.

i actually like the idea of catco and cat grant having a significant presence in kara's life but i wouldn't have had kara work for her or view her as this like. super inspiring girlboss. i loved when kara and cat had an antagonistic dynamic with each other (gates/igle run slay) so i would've liked to see that instead. i think a post-new 52 kara who's trying to build a life for herself on earth having to deal with cat (who's the face of a huge media company instead of just one reporter at the daily planet) getting on her ass about her performance and mistakes as supergirl would've been fun to see!! esp with a version of kara who wouldn't be afraid to tell cat to go fuck herself!!

i'm actually surprised that lena's presence on the show and the love for her character had zero impact on kara's comics lmao but i'd like to see lena be a supergirl supporting character again. i'd want her to be a mix of her pre crisis and new 52/rebirth versions rather than have cw lena copy/pasted into the comics though.

and j'onn and kara having a significant relationship is also something that should appear in the comics <3 let them bond <3

as for things i didn't mind in an au sense... i guess i don't mind her having an adoptive sister. i wouldn't have made her a deo agent (unless they were going to make that a bigger conflict between them than it was) but i didn't completely hate alex's character or her relationship w kara. there's probably other things i liked or wasn't super annoyed by but i can't think of anything else rn <3

You're completely right about Buck being the center of attention, which is why I always thought if they're not doing Buddie, they'd make his endgame someone Abby-like. Meaning she was another first responder and they could find a way to incorporate her in ways away from Buck, so his storylines away from work wasn't dominated by his relationship only, since he's the only main they allow to have significant relationships with everyone lol

Yep, yep, yep. Something would need to change. If you look at the two relationships (really one and a half) after Ali, the girlfriend who wasn't given anything to do with the firefam, the show first *tried* to make Taylor seem relevant by having her report on/investigate things the firefam was involved in (Sue and Tracie's cases, the treasure hunt, the hacker, husband buried underground, Jonah, blah blah blah). Because BT weren't at the kids or marriage stage of the relationship, their convos were centered around what they witnessed on the job, and usually at the same time (after all, crossing paths on scene in 4x08 is what brought them together again). Then a spot at the 118 firehouse opens up with Eddie on leave and unlike Lena's transfer that did not lead to romance (even tho R was waiting for it, lmao), Buck (ofc) ends up kissing a female firefighter that just so happens to be his new teammate. Everyone has their own opinion about what BL meant or was supposed to mean in 5B, but with the way the co-show runner was willing to look ahead to a future where Lucy's family life could be explored...IMO, it's clear that she was hoping the audience would welcome Lucy and make that dynamic an easy sell. No need to make up reasons for two people to interact when they have the same career.

With Natalia, her occupation as a death doula fit what Buck was dealing with in s6 - Lev's death and final words + the lingering trauma in the aftermath of Daniel's passing. 6x15 explained that she actually had helped him work through some of his feelings, so okay. Purpose served. (And when it comes to the argument that "we should have seen this convo if it was meant to be impactful"...the Buddie talk wouldn't have been necessary then. Which would you have preferred? I think it was a form of compromise, tbh.) But now? What is there for them to do? Michael and Karen don't need to be part of the first responder club because their time with Athena (and Bobby) and Hen has been about the family dynamic or health problems that affect both sides (Michael's cancer, Hen's mental health, Karen almost dying). Does Natalia being there for the birth of the bio baby mean anything? (Did they want it to originally?) Because if not, it feels like she'll either undergo a change of heart re: her direction in life or be swapped out for another that is able to contribute to the overall story.

Partner: Does your OC currently have a partner? Multiple partners? How did they meet, and what is that relationship like?

At this point in game. No. She has no partners. She has multiple somethings, I feel, but they're not partners. They probably meet at bars and maybe like promo parties? Lowkey ones, before the band made it big. I feel she's probably slept with a groupie or two but it's not something she makes the habit of. Messy business. [And that's too close to Orion seeing/hearing/etc.]

Intimacy: Is your OC the type of person to engage in long-term relationships, or are they more casual in their intimacy and affection? How do they feel about intimacy and relationships in general?

Seen is her longest relationship. I think MAYBE even first. I also don't think she thought it would be that long -- and in truth it probably would still be going if not for The Fight. She was really in love with Seven and I think they probably fought a lot but they Got Each other [think Vic and G, but infinitely less toxic.] There have been no relationships and no want/desire of relationships either. Casual or long term. And she thinks it's possible, obviously, but not for her. So like hogwash but real hogwash. Something not-lasting. Friendship is different though. Though she's not that great with intimacy is friendship. The band is kinda ... different. Kind of. She's not that great with them but she's better. I feel I mentioned but she has dad friend affection/acts of service & quality time but in a 'i'm going to pick you up from that 2am party but we're not gonna talk as i drive you home with a side-eye'. I think Rowan sees the most steady affection from her, in that they SOMETIMES [not often lmao] even talk about feelings. Gasp.

For Good: Is there anyone in your OC's life who had an undeniable positive impact on who they are as a person? How did knowing this person improve your OC's life?

Haha. Would you believe Seven Lawless? I think without Seven there would be no Lucy or even Rowan. And sans Rowan and Seven there probably wouldn't be the rest of the band. I am not set how Hiyam was younger -- if she was mellower or the same. But I don't feel real friends came easy for her until Seven. Seven [and Rowan to an extant] in her life made a lot of crosses that she bore bearable. She didn't feel the impact of certain things because she had Seven. Maybe seven was a weight baring support, which probaably wasn't good for either in a sense. But I think it was mutual. And being loved that much [even tho it can be ... a lot] was good for a kid without any other affection.

Happy 4th to all those who celebrate it in the states. If not then just happy Tuesday to you haha

We are onto s2! I’m excited this season has a plethora of goodies. Let’s get started on said goodness hehe

2x01 Impact

The episode starts off with a bang. Lucy is riding in the ambulance with Tim. I'm sure the paramedics didn’t fight her at all with joining him. Not like they could’ve stopped her anyway haha

Just when Lucy thought she could breathe Tim collapses. The amount of worry on her face as she watches him have a seizure…. Luckily it’s a reaction to vaccine and not the infection. It’s severe reaction though and he goes into anaphylactic shock. Lucy trying to keep it together as they rush him to the hospital.

They make it to the hospital when they find out there is one more terrorist waiting in the wings for them. The minute they pull in they start to shoot up the ambulance. Just like Lucy did for her dad in 1x17 not a second passes before Lucy is covering his body with her own. Willing to take bullets for him in order to protect him. God I love her. Doesn't hesitate for one second to be a human shield for Tim. My heart.

They’re all pinned down by this woman with her assault rifle. It's then Tim comes barreling out of the ambulance like the BAMF he is. Tim takes her ass out single handled. He asks Nolan if he is ok. Nolan says yeah he shouldn't have reloaded on the go. John asks him the same thing and his reply to Nolan is hilarious. 'Should've taken yesterday off' LOL I love it. Little humor to start the season.

We surge two weeks into the future after this. They’ve all taken their exams and Tim has had time to recover from his ordeal. They're all in roll call waiting for Grey. Lucy is asking how Tim is feeling. You can tell by his body posture how guarded he is with his answers. Just telling her he's ready to get back out there. Very reminiscent of early s1 Tim with her. We find out Lucy sent him food. (Of course she did. She’s an empathetic nurturing soul.) She cares about him so she’s going to take the steps to show that. Make him feel cared for. It's something that is very foreign to Tim and it shows.

For Tim he’s so used to carrying burdens alone, having to be second place no matter the relationship, being the protector not the protected, and being the one to take care of everyone and everything. He’s most definitely isn’t used to being taken care of. In walks Lucy Chen. Someone who lifts him up and wants to take care of him when he’s down. Like Lucy not knowing how to handle Tim’s compliments, Tim doesn’t know how to handle someone putting him first. Caring, protecting him etc.

Lucy is just so happy he is back you can see it on her face. She was hoping/expecting more of a nice reaction from him. Considering what they both just went through together. Throws her off when he doesn’t respond positively. He's currently doing a throwback to early closed off Tim and she isn't quite sure why.

Grey interrupts before Tim can reply and be any colder to her. He writes up their scores on the board. 97. 91. 81. Tells them they all passed but the 81 is ugly. Wants them to self reflect on which one is theirs. He will tell them by end of shift. He says good news is they all get to be out of long sleeves now.

They’re all discussing the scores naturally. Angela says he looks worried. Tim says he’s never had a rookie score as low as 81. She says first time for everything ha. Tim defends Lucy and says she’s a natural born test taker. No way she scored that low. He is sure it’s Nolan lmao Oh Tim your dislike of him amuses me so.

Lucy joins them in her short sleeves. Tim asks her what she’s doing? She seems so perplexed why he’s angry with her. She says Grey said they could switch over. Tim goes off on her and says she will wear her long sleeves and tie till end of probation. That he gets full discretion over her uniform cause she’s his boot. She walks away so sad and defeated. S1 Tim viscously rearing his head. The boys ask where she’s going when they pass her. She replies so sadly ‘To change back…’

They pull up to a park and get out of their shop. Tim tells her to stop pouting. Lucy bites back and says she isn’t. She then asks what they’re even doing here? Tim goes on to say if she thought it was going to get it easier after the exam she was wrong. Lucy is snarky in her reply ‘Awesome…’ She is already over his reversion back to early s1 hard ass. It's written all over her face.

He clearly heard her but asks what was that? She says nothing….Lucy knows its like poking an angry bear right now. So she avoids the conflict. (For now..) Tim asks her what the most important thing she needs on the street as a cop? Lucy runs through a list of things Tim doesn’t want as her answer haha Then settles on her judgement and Tim says no it’s her cop eyes. They're at this park for a Tim test. Clear he’s gonna be surly af for this one.

Tim asks her if she studied explosives in the academy? She says a little. Tells her he’s hidden a fake IED in the park for her to find. She has ten minutes to find it or he’s adding the duty hat to her uniform. Legit torturing her today with this test. Lucy starts to panic look through out the park.

She finds it in a barrel. Lucy is so proud of herself with this one. Tim is being an extra pain in the ass today. She’s so ready to prove him wrong. That him turning the heat extra high doesn’t affect her. She turns around and is all cocky saying she found it. Even those he's an absolute ass in this scene just like in the van scene in 1x14 looking fine as hell have to say. Especially way he puts his leg on that table. Its criminal you are this attractive Eric LOL

Tim pretends he can’t hear her. So she falls into his trap and uses her radio to tell him when the ‘bomb’ explodes on her. She is mortified and covered in flour. Tim continues the hard ass theme. Saying radios energy can set off a bomb. Ask her 'If she’s going to forget that lesson boot?' She replies No….Sigh poor Lucy. In his warpath this episode. She just can't figure out why.

Their next call brings them to a husband reporting his wife missing. Lucy feels bad for the guy and Tim doesn’t. Tells her Cop eyes again. Saying it’s always the husband who did it. Lucy once again snarky back asking if this is his first rule of domestics lol Tim is unchanging in his hard demeanor. Tells her it’s not a joke. That she’s too new to properly assess people yet. She should be showing suspicion not compassion as her default. Lucy looks annoyed as hell. Getting to her boiling point with his sour attitude.

Lucy’s irritation comes to a head when they return to the station. She asks him what he’s doing? Tim states the obvious and says clocking out and going home. She is more direct and asks why he is treating her like it’s day 1 all over again? He says because it is day one for her with phase 2 of her training. Lucy is further agitated. Asking if she’s lost all the respect she’s earned since then? Then Tim finally shows his hand on why he’s so angry. Tells her she lost that when she lied on a report.

It all comes together for Lucy. This is why he’s been such a grumpy bear all day. She finally understands why he’s been such a hard ass. Her reaction is incredulous. She’s honestly shocked he’s reacting this way. Lucy thought it was pretty obvious her actions were to protect him. Tim rattles on about procedure and code. How she should’ve reported him. She truly doesn’t understand why he’s mad at her for protecting him.

The look on Tim’s face in the second gif. He looks in shock Lucy did that for him. He’s so caught up on her lying on a report he didn’t stop to think she was doing it to protect him. Oh my broken baby. As I stated earlier he’s not used to being the protected. It was Lucy’s first and only instinct to edit that part out to safeguard him. To me this is the most tragic part of it all. Is he NEVER expected this from her. When he read that report all he saw was her not following procedure. Instead of what it really was...Which was her shielding him. Deep down I think part of him knew this but he couldn't accept it hence him lashing out like he is.

Lucy goes on to explain why she protected him. Because Tim clearly isn't understanding why she did it. How she knew Tim wasn’t really suicidal. He just needed to vent his stress and anxiety to her in that moment. That she didn’t want him to have to go through unnecessary therapy. To lose him as her T.O. over something that could hurt his career and their time together. Tim regains some of his composure and goes back to the company line BS. Saying how it wasn’t her call to make. That everyone should be reported consequences or not. Now here comes the best part of this entire scene. Of the episode really IMO.

Lucy destroys him with her reply. This is one of the reasons Tim falls so hard for her. The fact that she calls him on his shit. Not only does that but pulls his head out of his ass. Then promptly hands it back to him on a silver platter with her Isabel retort. She owns this scene after this. What's so damn impressive is Lucy can go toe to toe with him and win. She challenges him in a way no one has before and puts him in place when he needs it.

And he very much needs it in this moment. That final gif is his realization of that. Lucy delivers her K.O. punch and leaves him standing there with regrets about his behavior. He has no leg to stand on after she eviscerates him with her comments. Telling him not to hang his anger on his ‘code’ when it’s clearly not about that. Her calling him out and rightfully so like she did back in 1x03. When he was putting her in harms way as his therapy about Isabel.

Lucy tells him the hard stuff when he needs to hear it most. You know I love my Tim but hot damn did he need this Lucy knockdown. He admires her for it even when it’s hard for him to swallow. The way he just stands there it’s hitting him he took this reaction way too far. He’s forgetting how stressful that entire situation was for her as well. This ass chewing he just got is a stark realization of that. Also you know part of that chemistry of theirs is scenes like this. That fire and passion between them both. Ooh lord I love it.

Grey reveals their scores. We find out Lucy got a 91. She is immensely relieved and Tim is smiling ear to ear. Tim is good at burying a lot of things, being proud of Lucy has never been one of them. Look at this man beaming for her. He knew she would get a high score. He couldn’t be happier about it. Written all over his body language I love it sfm. I keep saying Eric is amazing with expressing so much with just a look. Its because he is look at that man. Pride x1000 in his girl.

The cute proud husband theme continues. Lucy spots a fake cop in the parking garage stealing a radio. She chases him out of there and jumps a wall in order to pursue him. I LOVE Tim asking if she’s okay first thing. It’s the softness in his voice that gets me. She is smiling and says yeah. Lucy is first beaming cause Grey seems impressed with her.

Then more so when Tim does his version of being proud of her. She rolls her eyes a bit but you know she’s happy to have him singing her praises. He could not be prouder of her if he tried in his scene. Anytime she does exactly what he knows she capable of he is elated. Also being proud in front of Grey is even better for Lucy. This is big brag for Tim about her. ❤️

Later on they figure out one of the fake cops leads them to the wife that went missing. Lucy asks if Nolan needs backup they say no. Lucy can’t help herself and takes a little dig at Tim. She has the high ground atm and knows it. Throwing the husband comment back at him. Tim doesn’t even reply. Just has a small smirk on his face. You know he loves her pushing his buttons and giving him crap. They aren’t at the point of apologies just yet. This is as close as we’re getting for them right now. It’s pretty cute.

Their final scene is them working in harmony like they do. Taking down the fake cops for the most part on their own. I love watching them work in the field. They’re so fluid and move without issue. That silent communication and such. Poetry in motion I would say.

Decided to do a reading roundup, inspired by @batmanisagatewaydrug ‘s own one here! Posted uhhhh like two and a half weeks after January but hey, it’s my blog and my roundup.

This month I read a ton of books but none of them really hit for me - not to say these books were bad (well. Some were LMAO), just probably not the proper time for me to read them lmao. All the books will be listed under the cut (some with comments) but here were the ones that really stood out!

Standouts:

As Good as Dead by Holly Jackson: 4.75/5 This was the end of the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy and GOD what a great series! I’m not going to sit here and pretend this is high art but there’s this special something in this series that makes me love it SO much. Is it Ravi Singh? It might be Ravi Singh. It’s probably Ravi Singh.

The Wonder State by Sara Flannery Murphy: 4.5/5 I don’t wanna spoil this one because it’s an ARC but I was so pleasantly surrpised by this book. I just think it fucks.

The First to Die at the End by Adam Silvera: 4.5/5 The first book made me sob like a baby and this one did make me cry I admit it. :’) While the first book is probably always going to have the biggest place in my heart, this was a fantastic read, and I LOVE that he went back to show us the very first Death Day and how it impacted the first person who was ever called for it. I definitely have more questions on the actual process so if he wants to pull back even further to the creation of the concept I’d gladly take it lmaooo

The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams: 4/5 So this is why I’m at 30-31 books - I read The Ultimate Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that has all five books in the same book; since I finished the first book in January I’ll go add it here and it was just *chef’s kiss*. Zany, funny, I finally get that damn “the answer to life is 42″ joke. For some reason I’d die for Arthur Dent. Etcetera.

Non-Fiction: I didn’t have a number scale for two of them; I felt a little bit weird rating both of them, so I’ve just linked my reviews instead!

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou: 4/5 I don’t know why but I thouhgt these were fiction until I actually went to go check out the book lmaoo

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett: 3.25/5 I know, I know, I’m sorry. Just wasn’t really for me.

This Spell Can’t Last by Isabel Sterling: 3/5 It’s a short prequel book for a series I really had fun with called These Witches Won’t Burn! The prequel was fine. I wouldn’t suggest you pick it up without knowing the series but yeah

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley: 3/5 I’m kinda surprised I rated it that high in hindsight lmao

Gaslight by J.E. Rowney: 2.5/5

Paper Planes by Jennie Wood with Dozerdraws: 2.75/5 (the art was lovely though)

The Aosawa Murders by Riku Onda with Alison Watts (translator): 3.6-3.75/5

Burn the Negative by Josh Winning: 3.5/5

I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman: 3/5 (again, sorry lmao)

Not By Blood by Chris Narozny: 3/5

Miss Muriel and Other Stories by Ann Petry: 3.5/5 I think I need to stop reading short stories because they’re always at around a 3 and it’s just not always a fair rating. Some stories I absolutely LOVE. Others? Ehhhh not so much.

Why Are You Like This? by Meg Adams: 4/5

It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover: 3.75/5 tbh, I think the more I think about the book the lower I’m going to rate it, but for now I’ll keep this original rating

usually if i have a concrete idea- especially a clear vision for a scene!- i'll jump into writing, but if it's less clear i'll write down the vibe somewhere (gdoc. discord, in an email to myself, etc) and let it percolate until i do have a clear scene to jump into

11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

in order, almost always. motivation is a beast i always have to try and wrangle and making myself write chronologically in order helps force me to finish writing the scenes i have to get to by dangling the scene i want to write as bait over my own head-- essentially: if i finish scenes a, b, and c; then i can write scene d that im REALLY excited about!

15. What’s your favorite time to write?

night time lmao!! im a night owl and i tend not to get as distracted later at night when the rest of my family has gone to bed/ we're all doing our own separate things!! but i do write throughout the day when i'm hit w inspo <3

23. Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? Hardest?

the end of the story is always always the hardest. almost every time i finish smth and send it to one of my lovely friends for editing/beta reading i ask "is the ending good?? does it make sense?? is it fulfilling??" etc <3

46. If you could only write one type of AU for the rest of your life, what would it be?

uhhhhhh get togethers, probably ?? modern/no magic get together aus are a good majority of what i write anyway so like yeah skjfvnksjfb

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

ummmm i focus on the visual impact of light a lot in my writing <3 also @precalamity called me out a while back in an ask saying a big throughline in a lot of my work is the idea of like. people not feeling like they are loved enough/worthy of love/deserving of love/love too much and that it speaks to my own insecurities skfjvnskfjbnskfb and they were right then and right now !!!!

73. What do you tend to get complimented on the most about your writing?

idk???? that its like. soft and affectionate and warm i guess?? the general vibe<3
