“Tian, come on. You’ve been in your office the whole day.” Guan Shan appears by the doorway with a frown on his face. “I’m leaving for work and you’re still cooped up in here.”
“Cheng wants these documents tonight. I need to finish this.” He Tian runs his fingers through his temple, massaging the pain that’s been pulsating in his head for the past couple of hours. “Don’t worry about me, alright? Take care and drive safe. I’ll probably still be here when you get back,” he mumbles the last part.
“At least turn on the lights here. You’re gonna wreck your eyes working in the dark.”
“Don’t. It’s fine. I work better in the dark.”
“You’re having a headache because you’ve been staring in the screen the whole day in the dark. Why are you—”
“I said I’m fine!” He Tian shouts, head whirling to glare at Guan Shan poised to switch on the lights. The pain has now traveled to the back of his eyes. “Jesus, Guan Shan. I’ll finish sooner if you stop bugging me. Go to work already and leave me to finish mine peace.”
Guan Shan doesn’t say anything but He Tian does catch him working his jaw and the tick of his eyebrow. Telltale signs that he’s pissed. He hears more than sees him leave and on any other time, He Tian would follow him with apologies already falling out of his lips. But this is an important assignment and the sooner he finish it, the sooner he can make up to Guan Shan for being an asshole. He knows he’s only looking out for him and He Tian already feels like a massive cunt for throwing that on his face considering how rare he shows worry.
He Tian waits for the sound of the front door slamming but it never comes. Instead, Guan Shan comes back to He Tian’s office and enters it instead of just lingering in the doorway like earlier.
“Get up,” Guan Shan says, tone harsh. “Get the fuck up.”
He Tian turns to look at him, half sorry but still pissed at being interrupted. He glares, dark eyes hard like granite as he growls, “Mo Guan Shan, I swear to god—
“I said get the fuck up.”
Tonight, Guan Shan has decided he will be the one doing the coaxing.
Guan Shan hauls He Tian up by the arms and he only has time to suck in a sudden breath before next thing he knows he’s being dragged across the hallway and into the living room.
“Momo, I—”
“Shut up,” he snaps and something in his eyes flashes that makes He Tian do just that. He Tian watches as he sits on the corner of the couch, legs crossed, and fluffs one of the throw cushions. Guan Shan places it on his lap and pats it. “Sit.”
He Tian sighs. “Momo, I really don’t think—”
“Will you just do as I say?”
He Tian does and obediently obeys when Guan Shan motions for him to lie his head on his lap.
Guan Shan successfully drags He Tian on their couch, comfortable now after years of use, easily giving and molding into their weight, no longer stiff and hard as when they first bought it.
The moment his head hits the pillow, He Tian lets out a long exhausted groan. A hand automatically comes up to clutch at his head but Guan Shan gently pushes it away and replaces it with his hands instead.
“Headache turning you into a bitch and killing you?”
“Slaughtering me more like,” He Tian sighs as he feels Mo Guan Shang’s fingers carding gently through his hair, massaging his scalp. “I think it’s fully morphed into a migraine now.”
“You want some meds?”
“No, no. I—Tch. The pain is still manageable. I don’t wanna be immune to them when it gets really bad.”
Guan Shan hums and in the next second, He Tian’s nose is assaulted by the smell of mint and camphor as Vicks is rubbed on his aching head. The smell of it relaxes him enough that he doesn’t mind the sticky substance getting in his hair. Not to mention the magic Guan Shan’s fingers are currently performing that’s chasing away his migraine.
“How come you always know what to do?” He Tian rasps, eyes closing amidst Guan Shan’s ministrations.
“I don’t,” Guan Shan scoffs. “This is just simple home remedy shit.”
“You know the important things,” He Tian’s voice has quiet to a mumble, the smell of camphor and the feel of Guan Shan’s fingers slowly but surely lulling him to sleep. “You know how to handle me. You know when not to back down.”
“I’ve had years of practice with your shittiness.”
“I’m sorry for yelling at you by the way. I didn’t mean to. It’s just…this assignment Cheng sent me it’s…it’s driving me insane.”
“It’s fine. I know. The migraine is already punishment enough for you.”
“You—” He Tian groans and it peters out to a moan when Guan Shan’s hand travels down, thumbs digging at the base of his skull, down his neck, and spreading out to the top of his shoulders. “You could say that again.”
“You want me to do your back too?”
“No, no. This is fine. I really don’t wanna get up right now. I’m really comfortable.” Another sigh as Guan Shan continues to work out the knots on his shoulders before going back to his temples. “But rain check on that back massage.”
They fall into silence as Guan Shan continues his ministrations, sticking to He Tian’s temples, his neck, and whatever of his shoulders he can reach with him lying down. He Tian slips in and out of consciousness and Guan Shan just lets him. He’s effectively turned He Tian into goo at this point.
“Thanks.” He Tian groggily reaches up and holds one of Guan Shan’s wrists. “You always know how to make me feel better.”
“Like I said,“ Mo Guan Shan leans down to plant a kiss on the top of He Tian’s nose, mindful of the Vicks on his forehead. “I’ve had a lot of practice.”
He Tian wakes up to the low hum of the TV and Guan Shan’s fingers still gently carding through his hair. The apartment is dark save for the TV and the city lights reflecting from outside. The annoying pulsing pain between his eyes have dispersed. His headache is completely gone.
He smiles to himself as he indulges in Guan Shan’s nimble fingers still scratching at his scalp. Fucking miracle worker.
“I see you’re awake,” Guan Shan says, voice low matching the quietness of the living room. “How’s your head?”
“Fine now.”
Guan Shan is eating chocolate chip cookies straight out of the jar. He Tian opens his mouth for one.
“What time is it?”
“A little past 11 PM.”
“Shit!” He Tian hisses as he sits up. “Cheng’s documents. I—”
“It’s fine, doofus,” Guan Shan says shoving another cookie at He Tian’s mouth “I answered Cheng-ge’s call earlier. Told him you were knocked out. He wants the papers tomorrow by noon.”
“Fuck. How did you manage that?” The initial deadline was tonight.
Guan Shan just shrugs. “Sent him a picture of your sleeping face.”
“You—What?”
Guan Shan pulls his phone and shows He Tian the picture he took of him sleeping on his lap. His mouth is hanging open and it looks like he’s even—
“Fucking hell.” Cheng is gonna use that as ammo against him for at least months. “I’m gonna get you for that.”
“Bring it on, drooly,” Guan Shan smirks muching on another cookie.
“Wait. Aren’t you supposed to go to work? What about that VIP that’s coming tonight? Shit. I’m so sorry, babe. I completely forgot. I was too—”
“Ah, come off it. It’s fine. The restaurant is used to receiving VIPs. They can handle tonight without me.” He rubs his hands and wipes the cookie crumbs off on his sweatpants. “Besides, I don’t even like that guest.”
Guan Shan fixes the pillow on his lap and He Tian takes that as an invitation to unceremoniously slump back into it.

Okay, I have screamed, squealed, hyperventilated, and smiled like a dork over this all damn day (I am by no means exaggerating).
Let's analyze this tasty ass chapter Old Xian, the fuckin legend he is, gave us on this holy day 🙌 😍
FIRST OF ALL
Tumblr media
Bruh, they were MAKING OUT. You can even see in the other panels, Mo's lips are red and kind of puffy, so it makes you wonder how long they were going for before we popped back in again (I'm seriously going to try not to squeal all the way through writing this). The last chapter people were confused on whether it was a kiss on the lips or not. I still hold firm that it was.
NOW, LET'S LOOK AT THAT DANG KISS:
I think something very important happened here, aside from the actual physical kiss. Mo was able to, in the best way he could, articulate that he has feelings for He Tian, and He Tian also articulated in his way that he does not want to dominate or control Mo, like maybe he had in the past.
In the last chapter, He Tian knelt a little so he was not looming over Mo. I think this is important and was the first step in what He Tian was trying to do here in this interaction. Kneeling to someone's eye level means you are putting yourself on equal levels. You are taking this person seriously and you are doing your best not to be threatening or overbearing in any way.
Tumblr media
After the first kiss that went wrong, He Tian has been controlling himself like crazy. He's still devilish at times, but flicking Mo's butt or kissing him on the cheek is not as aggressive as other things he did in the past (groping, shoving his tongue down Mo's throat, dragging an unwilling Mo places). He's backed off, and he backed off even more after learning that Mo's anxiety stems from She Li attacking, controlling, and dominating him. He Tian also learned that Mo's financial situation is no small thing and he has gained perspective into Mo's life and needs. In other words, He Tian has matured and has worked on himself so he could be someone Mo would love.
So, of course Mo loves him back now and kisses him. We pick up with both of them processing that kiss here:
Tumblr media
So, remember, Mo knew that he was dragging He Tian to his room because he was overwhelmed with feelings and wanted to kiss him finally, but He Tian had NO IDEA what was happening until he was standing in front of Mo, so he's processing this as much as Mo is. And the way they process is so different.
I love that Mo begins trying to explain himself, but also cannot bring himself to say that he loves He Tian directly (yes LOVE, not like). He says that his mom also doesn't dislike him, the most roundabout way he could say "I like you" (but we all know he LOVES him, right?). And he continues to talk really fast and look away from He Tian, because I think for whatever reason, he's scared to see how He Tian is reacting (because Mo is insecure) and also simply because he's embarassed of course.
And how is He Tian reacting? In that panel where Mo is just word-vomiting at him, he's studying Mo. His face is calm, like he's trying to get a read on what Mo's motivations for kissing him are. He's also reluctant to let Mo go. He even continues to hold his hand when Mo goes to take the ear piercing kit from the drawer.
Tumblr media
I think He Tian is probably feeling a combination of "Does he think this is what he has to do to repay me?" and also a bit of "please let this be real". So he makes Mo look at him, because the ear piercing kit probably sent some worry through him. He knows Mo has been preyed upon by She Li before, so He Tian is making sure Mo knows he's not the same as She Li. Remember, this was He Tian a couple hours, terrified Mo was going to reject him for being the same as She Li, and a few minutes ago, replaying what he did and feeling like he's bought into his father's violent world:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's still carrying that with him here, the terror that Mo saw what he did and the inner-conflict about being a part of She Li and his father's dark world. In this moment, he doesn't want Mo to think he's another violent person who Mo needs to serve or placate. He explicitly says to Mo: "You're the one who saved me."
AND WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
It could be literal, when Mo came up behind She Li and whacked him in the head to get him off He Tian.
OR, it very likely means Mo made He Tian change for the better. He's not the same guy who forced a kiss on Mo, or who tried to control him, or who threw money at him to get Mo to do what he wanted. He's changed into someone who wants to work hard, who wants to protect goodness, who wants to be gentle and kind like Mo is. Mo did save him. He can be someone different from his father, his brother, and She Li if Mo is there to remind him how to be.
So he reminds Mo of this because he wants Mo to know that he owes He Tian nothing. He doesn't have to pierce his ear for him to show that He Tian has any sort of ownership or dominance or anything. I think He Tian missed the fact that Mo is having a rough time, even now, being direct.
For Mo, he's trying to remind He Tian of this
Tumblr media
He's trying to say, indirectly, you can help me do this because, yes, I do like you back. But He Tian's caught up in making sure Mo's not feeling any obligation to him just because he took care of She Li. AND ISN'T THAT BOTH SO CUTE AND HILARIOUS?! 🤣
Mo's out here doing his best to let He Tian know he's ready to admit his feelings now, and He Tian's so worried for Mo that he needs to know FOR SURE this is something Mo actually wants. He has to see his face and he has to have some form of explicit confirmation before he can let himself accept what's happening. He could have just gone in for another kiss on his own, but he wouldn't do it. For He Tian, he does not want to "disgust" Mo ever again. It's full consent or nothing. So, after making it clear that Mo owes him nothing, he asks him outright, "tell me what you want".
And poor Mo's still having a hard time. He can't say the words quite yet, and that's okay. For Mo, I think actually asking for something he truly wants is quite difficult, because nothing goes well for him. Wanting anything is a dangerous game for him, so even just saying it out loud is like a jinx for him, like the universe will hear and He Tian will be taken away (and we do know he will be and I don't know how Mo's going to handle that). So he just points. It's the best he can do. He Tian's just gonna have to accept that.
And the SECOND he gets the confirmation he needed, He Tian kisses Mo again. IMAGINE WHAT THAT WOULD FEEL LIKE?! The person you've been blood-sweat-and-tears-ing for tells you they want you back??! He Tian's ear blushes in that panel where Mo points to him, because NOW it hits him that yes, this is real. The boy of his dreams actually wants him back!
Tumblr media
And it's the gentlest kiss ever. It's so sweet and heartfelt. I'm really proud of He Tian's and Mo's character development. I would say He Tian has evolved more than Mo, just because we see that he's learned his lesson here fully and Mo is still fighting to voice his wants, but man both characters have come so far.
And He Tian says he'll give Mo anything. Anything. Mo's out here trying to give He Tian things (literal soup, a place to stay, piercing his ear), and He Tian turns around and says NO, YOU OWE ME NOTHING AND I WILL GIVE YOU ANYTHING. He Tian was going to straight up murder She Li for Mo. He was going to KILL someone.
I saw someone on here say that in the English language, we have no equivalent to what He Tian said here. He basically told Mo anything he was, is, and ever will be, anything he can get his hands on for Mo, anything he can do for Mo, for all time, forever and ever, is Mo's. He exists for Mo now.
LIKE???
I'M SORRY, WHAT???
Guys, they are married. All these rings and earrings and shit. Like, this is the vow that accompanies them.
I just ... I can't?
Wonderful and BRAVE chapter from Old Xian. I will NEVER get over it.

it starts with a kiss 。
19 Days (Chapter 409-410 Spoilers)
As a returnee to the comic & fandom, and already late into the chapters, I'm aware that someone else has likely posted similar content on the internet. If so, feel free link me as you like, but I'll be putting down my own observations and two cents here, thanks.
Tumblr media
Good grief, where do I start with this? Maybe their longing gazes, how Mo is looking at He Tian as the latter is staring down at his lips? (And even in the subsequent panels, note how He Tian keeps returning his gaze to Mo's mouth.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Judging by the position of their hands, it looks like He Tian is the one who initiates the contact, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's clear that Mo's nervous (he's been sweating non-stop, and his free hand's shaking), but even his nervousness and uncertainty doesn't stop him from closing the distance. He Tian's gaze has shifted from his mouth to his eyes (much more intimate and intense), and Mo ends up losing his nerves and aborting the mouth-to-mouth kiss.
Tumblr media
Mo chooses to close his eyes to escape (the pressure, the intensity, the intimacy), but from his furrowed brow, even this isn't easy. He Tian, on the other hand, closes the distance with his embrace, accepting whatever modicum of affection Mo's willing to give him. He's following Mo's lead. Mo's pace.
Tumblr media
Mo quickly breaks away in the panel following the kiss; the way he pulls back and keeps an arm between them shows a desire for distance; he's embarrassed and trying to change the subject (good grief, can you get more tsundere than "my mom prolly doesn't hate you" --he can't even bring himself to express his own feelings towards He Tian directly; has to bring his mom in the conversation, pfft.)
He Tian, on the other hand, won't be so easily distracted or dissuaded. He's got his arms around Mo and won't let him pull back too much; his eyes have returned to Mo's mouth, even as he prompts him to continue. (He's trying to get Mo to confess, aha.)
Tumblr media
Even in this next panel, as Mo turns aside, He Tian is maintaining contact with him, only letting go when Mo presents him with the piercing kit, but the kit itself isn't important; his eyes remain on Mo's face, he's seeing everything Mo isn't saying.
The detail of the piercing kit, I like, because Mo's piercings symbolize ownership. Mo isn't a pet or a dog, but he's been compared one several times (both by She Li and He Tian). She Li and He Tian have both used Mo's piercings as a mark of ownership (She Li having pierced Mo's ear, and He Tian buying him earrings). Unlike with She Li, Mo is willing to accept He Tian.
Though He Tian was being possessive af in chapters 282-284 when the backstory about the piercings was revealed, Mo was the one who decided that he wanted to wear the earrings that He Tian gave him.
In chapters 372-373, Mo even took it a step further and requested a new piercing from He Tian, but after the initial shocked reaction, He Tian beckons him over and says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mo's confessing to him. Not directly, and not with straightforward words, 'cause let's face it, that brand of vulnerability doesn't come easy to Mo. He's nervous, and stuttering, and avoiding eye contact, but He Tian's not about to let it go. Mo needs to look, to actually see and understand for himself how He Tian feels as well.
Tumblr media
The way He Tian puts himself under Mo is pretty interesting (reminds me of when he did this in chapter 296, when he declared in front of Mo's underlings that He Tian would be his lackey). Is it a way to reassure Mo while simultaneously soothing his ego? Or is it a way for He Tian to communicate that the ball's in Mo's court; that he's the one who'll set the pacing in their relationship?
He' Tian's pretty clever, using just the right words to reassure Mo. He's turning Mo's gaze to him, and while Mo is looking at his face here, He Tian is instead looking right at his lips, communicating exactly what he wants. He's stroking Mo's bottom lip with his thumb, while slowly closing the distance Mo previously created.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That look in Mo's eyes, it's a reflection of mutual desire, and maybe it's because Mo can see it now, that what He Tian wants is what they both want, that Mo tells him when prompted (with a gesture, rather than words). Even now, he's looking carefully at He Tian for his reaction, not because he thinks the latter will reject him, but because he wants to make sure he sees it clearly.
As for He Tian, he's the one who's slowly been closing the gap all this time (their faces getting closer and closer), but Mo's the one who has the final say. He Tian complies to his unspoken wish.
Tumblr media
It's the perfect kiss.

Random 19days head cannons bc it’s felt so long since an update and I’m bored and figure other ppl might want something to consume:
I feel like Momo resembles his father the most, but gets his fairness, eyes, hair color (obviously) from mama Mo.
And the opposite for the He brothers, I like to think they only got their Height & jaw structure from their father, but their silky hair, nose eyes lashes and lips from their mother who was probably gorgeous.
Xixi’s sister notices the change in him when Jian Yi disappears and puts two and two together
Jian Yi’s mom always knew about her son and Zheng Xi bc from an outsiders perspective it’s so totally obvious (lol)
Jian Yi & Xixi are a switch couple in a 50/50 way, Tian & mo are more like 20/80.
Momo only wants to experience penetrating Tian because of how good He Tian makes it sound when penetrating mo LOL
Mo never came out to buzzcut because there was no need to, but once in highschool Mo mentioned he tian and buzcut was just casually like “that dude you dated a couple years ago”?
He Tian modeled for one summer in another country to prove to his brother he could become rich without his help and it was working until He Tian realized he didn’t want to be in the spotlight
He Tian entrusted two of his lackeys he trusted the most to take pictures of Mo Gaun Shan and bring them to him while they were separated
Mo is one of those slender dudes with tiny waists and slender ribcages but is this really a head-cannon? We’ve seen Mo’s waist.
Jian Yi runs a popular Instagram account where he posts aesthetic photos of him and Xixi being couple and romantic (holding hands, cuddling, etc) all while censoring their faces ofc
He tian gives Jian Yi a hard time about the IG page only because Mo doesn’t allow him to make one of their own
They go on double dates and have couples game nights all the time where they all drink and play a game, and ofc He Tian & Jian Yi are the ones that get super competitive and loud. Mo only gets loud to tell tian to stfu, Xixi just sits in silence waiting for his turn.
He Tian never likes taking Mo to certain areas of the city where gay men are known to be because surprise surprise; Momo is a catch to other gay men and He Tian can see it and hates being jealous.
Same with Xixi except everywhere because Jian Yi is just so pretty.

He Tian wanted to take advantage of the drunk Mo ☠️ I thought he had changed…..
Hey there, thank you for the question, I honestly don’t think this is the case, we all witnessed how HT was asking constantly about consent a few chapters ago so I highly doubt that he would jeopardize his kissing terms with Mo this easily since he is leaving soon and doesn’t want any misunderstandings between them
Tumblr media
I’m NOT saying at no point that is OK to kiss people while they’re half asleep or drunk all I’m saying is that every couple has boundaries and I honestly don’t know the terms and conditions of their relationship, what is ok for one couple is not allowed in others but I honestly think that if this was the case HT would try to take away the 🧯first to have better access to what he wants to touch but isn’t allowed yet, all I saw was HT getting super close to Mo’s lips, and as far as I know kisses are ok for them, unfortunately we don’t know if Mo said it was ok to kiss as long as nobody was watching or if HT needs to ask for every single one
Tumblr media
Now is Mo actually drunk??? I didn’t knew but I did made some research on the weekend soooo let’s check how cooking wine works in the lest get drunk department, kids don’t do this ever is not a great experience
Chinese Cooking Wine usually has an alcohol content of between 15 – 20%, is like a nice red but let me show some differences in alcohol content for reference
Tumblr media
Like any alcoholic beverage you can get drunk off cooking wine if you drink it straight from the bottle, two glasses of cooking wine in an hour makes you drunk but it’s liable to make your stomach feel sick with all the additives, it does hurt and the taste is like syrup is not worth it
So how much did Mo drank??? No idea because we can’t see neither the amount inside that bottle not the % of alcohol
Tumblr media
Looks like the bottle is a hand big doesn’t look thick either and I found the contents to go from around 300ml to 775ml, personally I don’t think that if Q doesn’t have the time or skills to cook he would have a big bottle, he’s a cheap bastard, what we do know is the he drank almost all of it
Tumblr media
I did try and for the amount of time that took HT to take away that bottle I’ll say is the one around 300 ml, he could get tipsy with this amount but not sure if completely drunk, I didn’t but then again I’m a heavy drinker, although I have reasons to believe he isn’t because let me tell you that when you’re out of it the rain wouldn’t wake you up, you just lay there getting wet and you don’t have to believe me but there’s someone who is actually like this in this group
Tumblr media
Mo is getting up and moving but not getting away of the water don’t know if he wants to try and help closing that window what I do know is that JY is not giving a single one if you ask me the one that seems to be drunk is him
I would like to include some pics that make me believe that Mo allows some sort of touches as long as nobody is looking
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again I’m not saying is ok to kiss while the other one is half sleep but that depends on the couple some allow more than others and is my belief that if HT didn’t had green light for kisses he wouldn’t go for them

A little one shot from the latest chapter *** see update at end for full fic <3
“Can you fucking hurry up?”
“Gotta carefully disinfect your ear.”
He Tian finished cleaning the blushing ear and gently brought the piercing kit up to the spot they had marked. The cold metal sent a shiver down Mo’s spine.
Mo wouldn’t admit it but he was nervous. Not about He Tian or what this meant between them, but the pressure of the needle against his ear. He wanted this moment to be special, to be about him and He Tian but the memories of how his last piercing had gone were all too close. This is different, Mo reminded himself. He Tian isn’t She Li. Even now He Tian looked at him with tenderness. They were ready to bind themselves to each other. This was just the fulfillment of that unspoken promise, to be together in the future, no matter where they go.
He Tian must have sensed his hesitation. “Will you regret it, Little Mo?”
“Stop with the nonsense. Just do it.”
Mo braced for the impact and CLICK, with a short groan and pinching pain the deed was done. He Tian’s still bandaged fingers deftly removed the kit without bumping into the fresh wound.
Mo trembled slightly adjusting to the heat and slightly throbbing pain in his right ear. It was done. Mo thought back to the day he asked He Tian to pierce it.
“You don’t need to have your ear pierced to prove anything. I just hope it’s done because you like me.” He Tian had said those words so easily then.
Mo did like He Tian. He wanted him, more than he had wanted anything. He may not be able to say it in words but he could show it.
He Tian leaned in close, inspecting his handiwork, causing Mo to blush fiercely. They had only shared the one kiss and he was still too aware of his presence. “Does it hurt? Pain, pain, go away.”
He Tian gently tilted Mo’s head and laid a soft kiss on his neck below the pierced ear.
“Don’t…!” Mo said weakly but He Tian went back for more like the one taste just wasn’t enough.
The pressure on his neck was instantly more distracting than the hot piercing as He Tian insatiably kissed the spot once again. A small gasp left Mo’s lips as he felt He Tian’s teeth graze the area. Mo’s mind was a bit of a blur as he allowed He Tian to continue with minor resistance.
It could have been the long night he experienced or lingering effects of the alcohol but he could get used to this feeling. He Tian’s arms around him, his mouth on his neck, his scent filling their space. A little bite broke him out of his trance.
“Ouch!” He gently pushed He Tian off of his neck only to see the other’s beaming smile. His eyes looked content, reminding him of the morning after their first kiss.
“It looks good” He Tian said softly only Mo didn’t realize he was talking about the beginnings of a red mark on his neck.

ch431 coda
ao3
It happens slower than he anticipated, the hazy atmosphere of comfort, soft yet rough—burdened only by the burning inside him—as Tian takes his time swabbing down his ear, methodical in the way he was about certain things. How he was about Guan Shan.
Mo eggs him on while trying to relax, and his hands clench and unclench around a pillow in a futile effort to extinguish the flare of heat—want—that rages in his stomach, flicking lower as Tian leans closer in to line up the piercing gun in the right place and there's a small click then—
"ah!"
He involuntarily lets out a groan of pain and Tian is quick to soothe, pressing closer still with his hands at his neck, lips brushing gently against his ear. Trying to protest is futile at this point when he can feel the heat rise again, stronger this time, as those soft lips press against the thin skin behind his ear.
Tian's breath is warm as it skims over him, and Guan Shan fights an actual moan along with the blush crawling up his neck. He Tian presses his lips right against him, slowly opening his mouth to lathe his tongue over the spot before nibbling gently at him and Mo feels a shock jolt up his spine.
"He Tian," he tries, moving his hands up, but Tian continues, torturing him with faint kisses.
There's a moment where Tian sucks hard and Mo lets out a groan before protesting once more, "He Tian!"
The other boy finally leans back to look at him, a glazed look in his eyes. An urge to kiss him pokes at the back of his brain, but he can't quite gather the courage this time to pull him closer.
Guan Shan coughs, pulling further back to lay on the bed, "C'mon let's go to sleep."
Tian just nods, his lips slightly parted and Mo rolls his eyes, patting the bed beside him. "Just don't be a chicken dick."
He nods again, crawling up behind him, and Mo isn't surprised when he wraps an arm around him a few minutes later. He sighs but doesn't move, the closeness comforting after all this time.
"Thank you."

I'm crazy for even thinking this because there's no way... But let me be delirious for a moment.
In the last Christmas chapter He Tian and Mo get engaged. This is the most important milestone in their relationship so far. He Tian gives Mo a ring that's a symbol of his devotion and a declaration that he wants to spend the rest of their lives together... and Mo accepts it.
The rings appeared in official art before and it was more or less obvious that there's some significance to them. It's just that nobody suspected them to be engagement rings and that they'd appear as canon in the story.
What else appears here and there and we know is gonna be important? Mo's piercing of course. We know it's also a symbol. We know He Tian piercing Mo's ear is going to be a huge milestone for them. It's also a declaration and a promise.
So my unhinged mind came up with a thought that those two events might parallel each other and Old Xian would take the opportunity to set a similar scene when the time comes.
He Tian kissing Mo everywhere but his lips before or after they pierce the ear. Mo (or both of them) crying cause maybe He Tian told him about the transfer. Them hugging. And I don't even dare to dream about Mo in He Tian's lap.
I'm crazy for thinking this but I also want to manifest it so much.

(for @teanshan, who requested a drabble about what happened in the time between tianshan's kiss and them sharing Guan Shan's bed <3 enjoy!)
———
He Tian was the first to pull away from the kiss.
In any other circumstance, Guan Shan would’ve suffered a considerable blow to his self-esteem. He's prone to self-destruction at the best of times, after all. The questions would've been endless: Did he do it wrong? Did He Tian change his mind? Was it all just a joke to him?
But for once, Guan Shan reined in his anxieties. It was made easy by the way He Tian’s fingers lingered on his cheek for a moment longer after they separated. It’d be foolish, Guan Shan knew, to mistake this for anything except what it was. He’d spent too long dancing around everything that He Tian was willing to give him, convincing himself that it was something else, something encrypted. Now he looked He Tian in the eyes and saw everything like an open book: want, embarrassment, nervousness, exhaustion. He’d cracked the code, and the reward of knowing He Tian was plentiful. To be honest, Guan Shan wasn’t quite sure what to do with his newfound riches.
But he didn’t get to linger on it for long. He Tian blinked, smiled, and it became clear in the heavy weight of his gaze that the exhaustion was winning him over. Still, he took Guan Shan’s hand in his bandaged one again, pulling him off the desk, toward the bed. Guan Shan flushed, pulling back.
“What are you doing?”
“Lying down, and taking my little Mo with me,” He Tian answered, tugging on his arm.
Guan Shan swallowed, flushing a shade deeper. “We’re fucking filthy. We should— shower.”
It was a trivial excuse, but a valid one nonetheless. After all that had happened, the last thing he wanted to do tomorrow was laundry when he desperately needed rest. Still, as if on cue, He Tian released a wide yawn, blinking hard afterward.
“’M too tired,” he mumbled in a way that was both childish and endearing, and Guan Shan’s heart soared at the thought of kissing those lazy lips again. But instead of indulging him, He Tian sat on the edge of the bed, keeping hold of Guan Shan’s hand. He gave another gentle tug. “Come lie down.”
Despite the burning heat of his face, Guan Shan felt equally adamant about maintaining cleanliness as he did giving into He Tian’s whims. He shook his head. “I’m gonna shower.”
The pouted look He Tian gave him would have been more compelling if he’d been able to maintain it for any longer. Instead, he eventually nodded, releasing Guan Shan’s hand to flop backward on the mattress with a deep sigh. It only took a matter of moments for Guan Shan to recognize the futility of the situation; He Tian’s ability to sleep at the drop of a dime was no stranger to him. He’d leave him there for now. Quietly gathering a fresh change of clothes, Guan Shan slipped out of the bedroom.
— — —
“You’re awake now, so move and lie down properly,” Guan Shan scolded later, face flushed once again from He Tian’s teasing. He’d quickly given up on wiping down the other boy’s body, instead threatening to pour the bowl of water on him if he didn’t at least wipe his own arms and face. The threat, albeit empty, worked, but then He Tian had simply resumed his position halfway slumped on the bed, dead weight.
“’M comfortable here,” He Tian muttered, eyes closed.
“You’ll be more comfortable if you move,” Guan Shan maintained. He kicked at his leg. “Plus, you’re taking up the entire fucking bed. I’m tired too, asshole. Move already.”
Despite his fatigue, a small smile built on He Tian’s lips. “Wow. I can’t believe I kissed a mouth that dirty.”
“He Tian.”
“Okay, okay.” Sluggish, He Tian pulled himself up on his elbows. His gaze was soft and sleepy as he looked at Guan Shan. “Inside or outside?”
“Outside,” Guan Shan answered immediately, heat crawling up his neck. He knew better than to let He Tian trap him. He’d already given him an inch; it was only a matter of time before He Tian took the whole mile. He Tian seemed to recognize this, too, as he gave Guan Shan a knowing look before finally inching up the bed, assuming his position on the innermost pillow. His hair splayed out on the pillowcase like spilled ink, although he pointedly contained his long limbs to his half of the bed.
Exhaling with relief, Guan Shan reached down to pick up the spare blanket he’d grabbed from the hallway closet. He draped it over He Tian — who watched him cheekily the entire time — before reaching over to turn off the desk lamp and escape his gaze in the darkness. And it felt strange to climb into bed afterward, knowing someone else was in it. Eyes unadjusted to the dark, Guan Shan could only feel the many forms of He Tian’s presence: the dip in the mattress, the warmth of his body, the press of his legs. It felt familiar yet novel, as if the concept of sharing space with He Tian wasn’t new, but doing so like this was. And as he settled beneath the blanket, skin warm and muscles sore, Guan Shan wondered what other things would feel familiar but new between them from here on out. He wondered if the tightness in his chest was excitement or anxiety or maybe a combination of both — another slew of emotions that He Tian always managed to pull out of him, messy but honest.
Shifting under the covers, He Tian pressed close.
“Little Mo,” he whispered.
Guan Shan swallowed, ears warm. “What?” he whispered back.
“Look at me.”
Guan Shan turned his head. He could only see the faint outline of He Tian next to him, but he shivered as he felt a hand come up, long fingers cupping the back of his head, running through his damp hair. He felt He Tian shift — and then there was a soft, warm pressure on his forehead. Guan Shan closed his eyes, pulse racing.
“Good night,” He Tian whispered against him, breath warm.
“Good night,” Guan Shan whispered back.
They fell asleep.

set during ch. 411 // inspiration: I Will Destroy You, Nick Flynn
In the wake of She Li’s downfall, in the early hours of the quiet morning, Mo Guan Shan and He Tian stare at each other.
It feels liminal, lying in Mo Guan Shan’s too small bed as sunlight filters in from the window where a small slip of space wasn’t covered by the curtains. An alarm is going to go off any minute now, but for now they have time, and neither speaks for fear of breaking the peaceful bubble.
It is Mo Guan Shan who moves first. He takes He Tian’s bandaged hand gently, slowly, and He Tian watches as Mo Guan Shan brings it to his lips and  tender kiss lands in the middle of his open palm.
Mo Guan Shan’s lips travel to kiss He Tian’s fingers next, lips warm and soft landing on each knuckles, before returning his attention back to He Tian’s palm. He kisses it again, this time almost reverently, and runs his tongue along where he knows He Tian’s wounds are despite the bandages. They would scar, he thinks, the first one did and this one will too. They would fade in time to be barely visible, but they would always be fresh to Mo Guan Shan. He would always see the blood—red, warm, and oozing—from where He Tian has been punctured in defense of him.
He Tian gasps when he meets Mo Guan Shan’s gaze.
‘Sorry,’ he seems to say with every graze of his lips. ‘Thank you,’ his eyes, a heated heavy gaze conveying more than just gratitude and relief. It’s a vow, an unspoken devotion, ‘I would do the same for you,’
Mo Guan Shan unlatches his mouth from He Tian’s palm and surges up to capture his lips instead.
It tastes like benediction and He Tian feels his lungs give out the breath he’s been holding all this time.
He Tian’s hands have moved to rest on Mo Guan Shan’s neck, and when they broke apart, his instincts led his mouth to rest over the bandage around it. He kisses his way around, the bandage a rough texture against his lips, but the warmth of Mo Guan Shan’s still healing tender skin underneath distracts him from it.
Mo Guan Shan is pliant under his ministrations and He Tian takes advantage of this. His lips hovers over Mo Guan Shan’s pulse and he feels rather than hear the whispered plea.
The rhythmic thudding of his pulse is maddening, intoxicating, each pump of it whispering ‘please, please, please’, and the cadence of it is music to He Tian’s ears.
He runs his tongue along it and the pulse quickens further. The grip on his wrists tightens and He Tian moves to kiss and suck on the erratic pulse, smirking as Mo Guan Shan gasps and tenses beneath him.
He Tian moves to kiss lower, charting a path down Mo Guan Shan’s collarbone and moving his hand to go under the latter’s sleep shirt, when an alarm sounds out, blaring and noisy in its chirpy tone, and any and all plans of going further is halted. Mo Guan Shan groans, throwing an arm over his eyes, while He Tian laughs as he plops down beside him again.
Mo Guan Shan peaks at He Tian beside him—hair mussed, eyes alight with mischief, smile still sleep soft despite already being long awake, and oh so radiant in the early morning light—and thinks he would like to keep this boy and wishes that he would be allowed to.
(He doesn’t know that He Tian is smiling because the morning sun illuminates his red face in the prettiest way and wants so badly for Mo Guan Shan to want him too, wishes desperately to be allowed to keep him too.)
“Good morning, Little Mo~"
“Yeah,” Mo Guan Shan mutters, a little annoyed at himself for finding He Tian’s lilting tone endearing. “Good morning.”

The differences in these looks are astronomical, but both are based in a great sense of love and trust:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE TIAN'S LOOK
Tumblr media
For He Tian, this was the moment he finally understood how much Mo has stacked up against him, how blind he was to the real issues Mo has. It isn't just money, it's that Mo is not cruel enough to survive the world he was sucked into. This look from He Tian, aside from devastation and guilt at how blind he was to this all, is underpinned by a STRONG sense of righteous anger. The downturned brows, the reddened eyes like a devil's, the lips thin and pressed together. He Tian in this moment knows he's going to do whatever it takes to protect Mo from the world they live in. If Mo can't be cruel, because he really doesn't have it in him, then He Tian is going to do what his brother taught him to do: he's going to become the strongest of them all and he's going to make anyone who harms Mo pay tenfold.
This look is ultimately an admission by He Tian that he was wrong to treat Mo's problems so breezily, and it is a promise to make sure Mo will never be left alone to be harmed this way again. He Tian says here with this look that he understands now why Mo felt alone, he's sorry he misunderstood Mo's problems, and Mo can fully trust him now with his heart. And after this scene, Mo does trust He Tian more, and he opens up to physical touch and shows of affection, because He Tian finally gets what Mo needs from him. Support and trustworthiness while Mo navigates living in a cruel world: not control over his actions and not money thrown at problems like a band-aid.
It's the first time we have ever seen He Tian like this in the story, and I think it was a giant turning point for his character arc and goals. His love for Mo turns from a pretty intense childhood crush here to undying and unyielding devotion. This is a love that has taught He Tian a lesson about life, and because He Tian has a will to protect goodness in the world, like the goodness he sees in Mo, Mo is now a symbol of the world he wants to live in. If Mo is protected and allowed to continue to be good, all is right in the world for He Tian.
FOR MO, THIS FUCKING LOOK:
Tumblr media
There are so many layers to this one too. We have seen Mo cry before and be vulnerable, but never like this.
For one, He Tian just saved him from being stabbed by that psycho, using his own hand as a meat shield, and He Tian just showed Mo how distraught and worn-down he has been watching She Li torture Mo these past weeks. He Tian just UNLOADED onto She Li to the point that he was shaking and needed to be stopped. I think Mo just witnessed something very dark inside He Tian, that darkness He Tian told him on the staircase he was glad Mo isn't afraid of him for.
Tumblr media
BUT, He Tian turns around unsure after the man stops him with a certain fear in his eyes. He's scared of what Mo's face is going to look like. Has he gone too far? Will Mo, in all his goodness, understand that this violence and darkness is the only way He Tian knows how to protect him from the cruelty of the world? That She Li can only be dealt with by someone equally as dark-souled as he is?
Tumblr media
And then He Tian turns around, terrified, to see how Mo will see him now, and he gets this look. THIS LOOK. LOOK AT MO'S FACE.
Tumblr media
Mo is sucking in sobs here, his lips pinched together to try to have some control, his eyes are so open and vulnerable like he is in disbelief at what he just saw, and his brows are turned up in concern. If I were He Tian, this look may have made me feel like my beloved is scared of me, but if you look closer there are layers here.
Mo looks first and foremost sorry to me. He looks devastated He Tian was pushed to this level of stress and violence, that He Tian is scared Mo is about to reject him, that He Tian is bleeding and injured for him. That He Tian went to these great lengths to make Mo's life even a shred better at what might be great personal cost to He Tian's own emotional wellbeing. Being driven to this breaking point is not normal, this is not normal teenage behavior, and Mo being so good and loving knows that. In this moment, Mo's seen all the hardships and neglect and expectations that have been placed on He Tian as He Tian just wailed on She Li.
Mo has finally learned what He Tian was trying to tell him on the stairs. He Tian is scared of the dark, because the dark is where he was raised. If you want love, you fight for it. And if you want ANY sense of goodness to survive, you HAVE to take on the burden of cruelty yourself so that it may grow protected. She Li wanted to destroy Mo's goodness, resents Mo for his goodness, but He Tian needs Mo's goodness for his own world view - He Tian must know there is something worth fighting for in this cruel world, otherwise he is just simply cruel, like his family and She Li.
But it's Mo's next move that is really important. Mo goes to He Tian immediately and wraps him up in the tightest hug. He reassures He Tian here that he is NOT scared of He Tian's darkness and that He Tian is loved still despite showing this part of himself to Mo. On the contrary, I think Mo is conveying that he loves him more for loving Mo this INTENSELY.
It's not even all about He Tian's romantic love for Mo here; it's also about He Tian's love of GOODNESS in general. Of friends who will fight in your place, of people who will help out others just to do it, of precious keepsakes in a box that keep you connected to better times with your family members, of brothers who protect their younger siblings out of pure affection. He Tian loves goodness in the world, and Mo is a symbol of all of that. I think Mo understands that about He Tian. I think it makes their love for each other not just a high school drama, but an example of how sometimes you just NEED people, so so dearly, in your life. He Tian needs Mo for his goodness, and Mo needs He Tian for his cruelty. They are soulmates, and they accept each other. Not just crushes or bodies to touch, but genuinely soul-bound companions. The look Mo gives He Tian confirms this to me.
So, in short, He Tian's face was a promise to Mo to give him what he needs from now on, and Mo's face in this latest chapter is a promise to accept He Tian's love, no matter how dark it may look sometimes.
Such a beautiful chapter with so much more to say, but I'll leave it at that.

tianshan kiss hc's plz plz 🥺
HEHEHEH TY FOR THE ENABLING XOXOXOX
so their next kiss - mo is just getting used to it, he hasn't kissed someone before and last night he spent far too much time googling how to be a good kisser and he's super nervous once the adrenaline wore off omg. it's after school, they've walked back home together mostly in silence, their hands brushing together now and again. tian looks so big in his house, almost having to duck under the doors and nearly knocking things over in their little kitchen. tian will make some little joke about soup again, mo will blush and get flustered, but tian has that look in his eye, and mo will know. this kiss starts soft, and suddenly tian's hand is at the small of his waist, and the NOISE of it makes mo's legs turn to jelly. he doesn't know how something so gross could possibly be so hot. they're just pressing lips together but tian feels so BIG against him and he keeps thinking about having to go up on his tip toes and he realises TIAN HAS TO BEND DOWN and he's totally lost to it. opens his mouth a little and hears tian make this terrible, greedy noise before he feels he blacks out.
once they get used to it, there's kisses in quiet corridors, or good morning kisses as tian starts to pick him up for school and go together, and then good night kisses when they've lingered at the doorway for almost an hour, but ma said if you stay you have to sleep on the couch and i need to leave my door open because- because- and then there's another kiss where they're smiling and mo is blushing and tian is mumbling against his lips that he doesn't want to cross his future mother in law and mo's heart HURTS to think of them like that.
sometimes, though, when momma mo is out at her shift, and it's a friday night so no school tomorrow, they sit on the small sofa together, with legs touching and then suddenly EVERYTHING touching because tian is pressed against him, over him, and he feels like being trapped here forever. the noise he's making now are so shameful he tries to block himself out, and the way tian's warm hand is under his shirt is so distracting he can hardly THINK.
anyway yeah i'm sorry there's like a million kisses to headcanon WHICH ONE TO BEGIN WITH lmao <3 thank you for the ask mwah mwah mwah

I wondered why Mo's finger was like that, then i read the translation of the panel right before this one and it says: "What is it that you want? Tell me."
Tumblr media
So Mo tells He Tian by pointing at him He Tian (His lips?), because it's what he wants. He wants He Tian (And He Tian to give him a real kiss?)
Tumblr media
So He Tian listen and gives him what he want 🥺💕
