Engineering updates
Noticed while skimming episodes the other day some changes in Main Engineering during the first couple of seasons that I hadn't noticed before (or just forgotten about).
Specifically, I'm going to focus on the back end of Engineering, where the Master Systems Display is located:
Nice and busy
Now that area doesn't show up in Encounter at Farpoint, the couple of shots in engineering are centered around the warp core and the catwalk surrounding it (the open elevator connecting the two gets a lot of use in there).
Hot elevator action!
The MSD appears in the next episode The Naked Now but it's all alone.
Nothing more than a repurposed wide corridor where we stuck a giant screen, and it's green (it will stay green for the first two seasons). There's also no isolinear stacks underneath the MSD, and the hallways panels are missing some LCARS. Oh and we don't have our pool table MSD table.
The next time we see engineering from this angle is The Last Outpost.
A lot of progress for sure, but it's not right. The LCARS panels have been added to the bulkhead and the isolinear stacks are now underneath the display. The MSD Table, itself recycled from Star Trek 4, hasn't fully undergone the TNG conversion and looks out of place.

The Lighting elements that are flush against the Display are the wrong shape, flanking it. for comparison:
And now, a brief interlude to Where No One Has Gone Before:
They're GREEN. I had not...it had not clicked with me before (at least not consciously) that the lighting panels were green for the episode. I don't know if they were still tweaking the look or decided it should be green bc of Kosinski's so-called upgrades but in any case it's green and distracting now that I see it.

I feel like they're going to show us some x-rays on here.
By the time we reach 11001001 the table looks right (hard to tell from this angle but looks like the entire surface is reflective now).
the big lights are off, for some reason.
Another quick detour, this time to Home Soil, where the MSD also acts as a viewscreen:
also when you put chairs there it really emphasizes how those controls look like navigation (you can control the ship from Engineering I guess you could set it up that way).
The rest of the season won't see any further changes. Season 2, starting with Where Silence Has Lease the lighting elements around the MSD will have been updated to the ones that will remain throughout the rest of the series
The lighting might have changed between Where Silence Has Lease and Q-Who or just might be colour processing.
Finally, season 3 brings us the updated MSD with more detailed okudagrams on it
There might be rubber duck in there.
It will remain mostly unchanged for the rest of the series, except at some point someone slapped a label on the bottom left.
(this occured at some point between s3-4)
A final, minor, update was brought to the MSD where the label was removed and two lines were added to the pedestal for Star Trek: Generations.
(similarly to how the runabouts had a bunch of random lines that looked like electrical tape to make the sets pop).

>Slap the sword out of his hand.
You look at the guard.
He brandishes his sword and says another word that you don’t know.
His sword is pointed at you.
You know what you need to do.
You fake leftwards, he pivots, then you dash to the right. He‘s gripping his sword with his right hand- You put your whole body into an open-handed slap. It connects with his sword hand with startling force, and his sword clatters across the floor into a dark corner of the room.
Your hand hurts.
You feel someone shaking you awake.
“Whauh- wha- WHAT?? I’M AWAKE,” you splutter.
Louisiana is standing over you, hands on her shoulders, her eyes full of concern.
“Are you okay???” she asks.
“I ‘unno, are YOU okay?” you retort.
You’ve been awake for about five seconds, and you don’t even know which end is up.
Louisiana sighs.
“You sounded like you were having a really bad dream,” she says. “And then you, like, punched the bed?”
She gestures to one of the support beams of the bunk bed. There’s a large divot in it, and some of the wood is splintered.
You look from the beam to your hand.
There’s a very large splinter of wood protruding from your palm, about the size of a pencil.
Huh, how about that.
“Oh SHIT,” says Louisiana. “BUNNY! WE NEED A BANDAGE OVER HERE,” she calls out.
In a flash, bunny darts into the room, holding a red pouch with a Swiss cross on it.
“Oh, man, I uh… I don’t wanna look at that any more,” Louisiana says. Her eyes are wide and she looks a bit sickened.
She backs out of the room as Bunny darts in. Bunny grabs a small bedside table and spreads out some medical equipment on it. You hold out your hand.
You’re still half-sitting up in bed, propped up on your left elbow.
“Looks like we gotta get that thing outta there,” you say, staring at the chunk of wood stuck in your hand.
“Yep. This is definitely gonna be uncomfortable. I am sorry,” says Bunny.
She seizes the piece of wood with a large pair of tweezers, and gently but firmly pulls.
You can feel it coming out. It doesn’t hurt as much as you would imagine.
As it comes out, you don’t see any of the red blood that you expect, rather a thick transparent leaf-green liquid.
“Uh,” you say.
Bunny continues. She puts the piece of wood into a transparent resealable plastic bag.
She mops up some of the green liquid. It’s pooling in the center of your palm.
Bunny goes back in with the tweezers, and extracts a few small splinters of wood.
She mops up more green liquid, then folds up a piece of gauze into a tight bunch, places it over your wound, and tapes over it with white medical tape.
“Put pressure on there for at least fifteen minutes,” she says.
You make a fist.
“Do we need to, uh… sterilize it, or something?” you ask. You don’t really know what to do with wounds that size.
Bunny pauses. Her lips purse, and she tilts her head from one side to the other.
“Um, well… The thing is… I don’t want to risk introducing any chemical you might be intolerant of,” she says.
“But I’m not allergic to…” you try to protest.
“You’ve changed.” she says.
“Your blood… is green now. I don’t know what chemicals are safe to mix with your blood.”
You think for a second.
“…Like how you can’t mix cleaning products unless you have the MSDS sheet for them?”
“Uh, sure,” she says. “I guess.”
Louisiana pokes her head in the doorway.
“Is the giant log removed from your hand now?” she asks.
You hold up a bandaged hand and wiggle your fingers at her.
“I’m fine,” you say.
“Except her blood is green now,” says Bunny, as she tidies up her medical equipment.
Louisiana looks shocked. “What???”
“Yeah, green,” you say.
“…Can I see?” she asks.
You grab the transparent plastic bag with the medical waste in it and hold it up.
Her eyes widen. “Woah.”
“Yeah I guess… I guess I’m really not human any more,” you say.
You look at the beam that you struck in your sleep.
The divot in the beam is quite large.
You reach out and touch the wood. It’s very solid.
“Yeah, uh, be careful with that. I built it myself,” says Bunny.
“Sorry. I think I was dreaming,” you say.
“…You definitely weren’t that strong before,” says Louisiana.
“I wonder if you can, like, break bricks and stuff now?”
You’re not sure if you really are stronger now.
It wouldn’t be that far-fetched. After all, your sharp teeth, forked tongue, and green blood are strange enough. And that divot in the wooden beam looks pretty big.
“Well, strong or not, I want to prepare you for when we have to face off against the vampires,” says Bunny.
“Which means?” you ask.
“Target practice.”

They’ll also be sending a couple Fantasias they printed and a couple of their own original sculpts, including their anthro possum doll, which I adore!!! It’s got a swappable chest plate so you can go from no bust to bust and back again super easily.

Happy New Year ... and what a strangely subdued table ... ah, I see ... what the hell is THIS msd shite? The camera perspective is WEIRD and Ashley is giving me motion sickness ... Travis: "Why do you keep calling this a drift?" Sam: "Because it sounds cooler!"

Orym tries to dart under Fearne's legs but it's just TOO crazy for him ... or not? Oh, so Matt has to CHECK THE RULES now! Holy fuck, Liam sctually GETS THE PASS because the rules are on Orym's side! AND he gets a sweet attack on the rogue on the other side! HE GETS THE HDYWTDT!!! And then he just keeps on going into the front room!
It's the mage's turn ... he decides to just FLEE!!! Of course he does! XD but he has a parking gift with the orb! Lightning attack! Eep!
Ouch ... okay, Laudna is FUCKED UP, and Horse Fearne is destroyed, leaving only a naked Fearne stood in the middle of the kitchen!
Mage full clutzes CLEAN through the window and he's FUCKED UP but STILL manages to maintain concentration on the elemental?
Does Inflict Wound even work on a Wind creature? 6 D10 of Necrotic damage? Holy fuck Imogen you can be TERRIFYING sometimes.
Wait, Pate was still trapped inside the vortex? XD Anyway, he got YEETED ...
Laudna sends him BACK INTO the elemental and casts Shocking Grasp through him into it! Boss move! 10 Lightning damage! Fuck!
It is now SCARED of her and I am NOT surprised ...
Chetney jumps through the window and MAULS the mage in the alley while he's down ... oof ... that is NASTY. And he KILLS HIM!!! Of course he does ... AND he just chucks the corpse back through the window !
Oh fuck ... now the elemental is UNFETTERED!!! That may have just backfired on them ... yup, it's just flailing like crazy ...
Fuck! Imogen's now unconscious? Fuck ... oh! No! Phew ... whsy a fucking SAVE!!! Laudna saved her with Silvery Barbs!
FCG casts Spare the Dying on the mage. And they zre now in A murder scene in a residential area. Matt: "And that's where we're gonna take a break!"
Stay, run or hide? Who's good with religion? What? There's no time,this guy's coming back already! Ashton has the Hole! (Because it's funny.) They grab the mage and BOLT right out into the street.
Guy's back in the kitchen but they're already gone ... phew ...
Pate really enjoyed that, apparently. XD
Somehow Ashley rolling 26 saves the group's collective Stealth. XD SO far away from the old days ...
Ashley's just being Fearne being a horse again. XD Imogen is being a horse girl going along with it. It's really quire adorable.
Looking for parks, then. Or not? Now looking for DOCKS. A warehouse? Now I'm confused ...
Oh, right, for an interrogation. Yeah, makes sense. Yeah, maybe FCG isn't the best choice for this. Yeah, Imogen is better for this.
Uh-oh, he's waking up ... and now they've brained the poor bastard. FCG casts Spare the Dying again. Matt: "Just to be safe."
Matt: "Are you looking for anything in particular with this warehouse?" Laura: "Something shadowy and abandoned-y."
FCG: "We really don't wanna give him brain damage."
Lock picking! Okay, here we go, Chet, roll nice ... 25 on stealth ... AND 25 for the lock picking itself! Bloody hell, Travis!
Guy tries to bolt and Matt rolls SCARY well, everybody scrambles to stop him! Miniature initiative! It's chaos! Oh nice one Imogen! Perfect, that's it. Game over.

I am EXHAUSTED from sitting around for days watching That Guy play Genshin Impact.
I wish I could go do something else without him getting pissy about it and taking it out on everyone.
Right now he and Son are playing a table-top game so I got a moment to go do other things but I’m so tired that I didn’t do much other than fill and run the dishwasher and sweep the kitchen.
Mondays are usually my recovery days after him being home all weekend, but this week it’ll be Tuesday.
