In Star Trek, do they ever talk about specific things that were irrevocably lost with the violence that took place in the long 21st century before the unification of Earth? The Eugenics Wars of the 1990s + the nuclear holocaust of WW3 + the post-atomic horror?

The narrative in Star Trek is generally “humanity went through a rough patch, but then everything (mostly) went better after Zephram Cochrane invented warp drives!”

It would add a bit of gravity to the rough patch, though, if it were noted “The original Mona Lisa, like the rest of the Louvre collection, was destroyed in WW3 with the nuclear bombing of Paris (along with vast amounts of other irreplaceable cultural artifacts, and the lives of a couple hundred thousand Parisians).”

Or “after the Eugenics Wars (with the Thai-Vietnamese War being one of the fronts of the Eugenics Wars), the Laotian people effectively ceased to exist, between the Thai government’s coercive assimilation policies and the eugenics-driven, tentatively Khan Noonien Singh-aligned Vietnamese government’s mass killings and sterilizations of Laotians in the areas it controlled. Scattered individual survivors assimilated into other nationalities..”

(Sorry to any Parisian and/or Lao folks who find those examples sort of grim. I mean, they’re supposed to be grim, but they’re not supposed to single anyone out except by chance.)
