I Love To Shoot At Trouble

During the Steam Christmas Sale I ended up buying Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012 because it was like $6 or $7 and I'm in the mood for a new racing game to chew up. EA already gave the game away for free in like 2015, but that meant installing "The EA App". I figured having it on Steam would be more convenient.

You'd think so.

It's not! As part of the first time launch, it installs "The EA App" anyway, which also means it found and uninstalled whatever version of Origin I still had (I wasn't aware I'd ever reinstalled Origin since my HDD crash). As part of this process, it also asked me for my EA password, I misread Firefox's stored password incorrectly, and went through the trouble of resetting my EA account with a new password before linking it to Steam. To my surprise, EA's been sitting on my seven year old cloud save from the few minutes I played of this on Origin in 2017, and asks if I want to import it. Sure, I guess.

So that's ten minutes down the drain before I can even boot up the game. Okay, fine, the game finally launches. Gotta wait while it boots up The EA App each time before it boots into the game, gotta wait for the title screen logo animation, gotta wait for a 10-15 second load screen because even though this game came out in 2012 it's gotta ping some always-online "Autolog" leaderboard whatever. Once it connects, it has to do a slow cinematic pan across your car, telling you what your online rivals have done since the last time you connected, and what kind of equipment you have on your car.

All told, every time you boot up Most Wanted 2012, you're looking at a 30-45 second wait before the game actually hands over control and lets you start driving.

Pull the accelerator and instantly Most Wanted SCREAMS at me:

Fair enough. I'm using a Dualshock 4, and the Playstation 4 did not release until over a full year after this game. Click to the menu it's asking of me and see that the control binding menu is awful -- it's one of those super oldschool ones, like binding keys one by one in Doom 2. I have no idea what these buttons are supposed to be in terms of Xbox equivalents, and I realize that Steam has this thing called "Steam Input" that's supposed to be handling all of this anyway. Steam Input generally makes my Dualshock 4 look like an Xbox controller to most games.

I exit out of Most Wanted, force Steam Input to "on" (I was messing with its settings recently, so I thought maybe it was disabled), and relaunch the game again. Wait for the EA App to boot up, gotta wait through the title screen logos, gotta wait 10-15 seconds on a loading screen, gotta wait another 5-10 on the cinematic pan across my car. I have now spent a minute and a half total waiting for this game to boot while I troubleshoot this.

Pull the accelerator. Instead of it complaining about my controller, straight up nothing happens. That's weird. The Start button works, the analog stick seems to work in the pause menu, but the triggers do not. The face buttons also do nothing. Upon checking the settings, that's because Most Wanted has settled on keyboard mode, even though it's clearly accepting some controller input. After poking at it, it does not seem like there's any way to get it to see my controller.

This makes Most Wanted a special game, because a lot of games I play will happily accept that Steam Input is telling it I have an Xbox controller connected even when I absolutely do not. But this is the rare 1% that seems to be incompatible. It's time to bring in the big guns.

Mayflash makes a terrific little passthrough device called the Magic NS, and the general purpose of this device is that it lets you use any controller on any other platform. An Xbox controller on a Playstation? No sweat. A Playstation controller on the Switch? It'll handle it. If you upgrade to the Magic NS2, you even get full gyro support. Every NS device also doubles as a Bluetooth dongle, so you can stay wireless if that's your thing. I love it so much I bought two, because generally they're only about $20.

A Magic NS2 for my Switch... and Magic NS1 for my PC. Strictly for scenarios like this, where a game expects an Xbox controller and Steam Input fails its camouflage.

Plug the NS1 in, connect my Dualshock 4, and once again boot up Most Wanted and wait the 45 seconds to get through the EA app, logos, loading, and the cinematic pan across my car. More than two full minutes now looking at this junk, and that's not counting the time spent outside of the game troubleshooting this in menus or digging out dongles or whatever.

Pull the accelerator... and my car starts to drive! I can steer! It works! Of course it works. The Magic NS never lets me down. I pull up to the first race event...

Press J and K to start the event.

Those are, uh. Those are keyboard keys. I'm using a controller. The controller is fully functional. You don't need to tell me this in keyboard controls. This isn't going to be one of those games, is it? The kind that still tells you everything in the keyboard shortcuts no matter what?

I drop into the menus again and see Most Wanted is still stuck on Keyboard mode and won't let me switch to anything else, even though I'm clearly using a fully functional controller now. This can't be right. But then I remember: Steam Input is still turned on, and when I forced Steam Input to be on, Most Wanted got stuck in this keyboard mode.

Exit out of the game, tell Steam to turn off Steam Input for this specific game only, and relaunch. Wait through all that crap again. We're up to three minutes just waiting for the game to start, and probably closing in on 20 minutes since I first decided I wanted to try Most Wanted.

Pull the accelerator, it works, drive up to the first event, and...

Pull LT and RT to start the event.

FINALLY. HOLY SHIT.

On the plus side: this game controls a lot better than I remember. It's a decent middleground between Criterion's heavier-feeling Hot Pursuit (2011) and the snappier Burnout Paradise. Though I could do with a lot less full screen flashing or the fact that Autolog alerts hide the minimap for some reason.

Not pictured, but the "always online" nature can also be frustrating if you pause, unpause, and find you have to quickly re-pause again a second time. That second pause will actually incur a loading spinner because it hasn't finished syncing with the server from the first pause, apparently. This game is going on 12 years old.

Anyway. This was a nightmare.

The greatest yarn ball ever. Honestly, I need more of them in my life. I never really view Y/N as me. I always enjoy seeing them be their own character more. So y/n having an actual design and what seems to be their own personality instead of a blank. That's the good shit right there. Them working for the Vees is so great. Are they also at the hotel? Are they there for redemption? Does Alastor know about y/ns connection to Vox? What is overlord y/n like? Are they sadistic? I'm really glad you like them! I also love when reader has more of a personality and their own little quirkys, I'm very picky with fics and love stepping into reader's toes when they got a perssonality more than when it's a reader trying to be as neutral as possible.

As per this comic, yeah :D, reader lives in the Hotel.

And no they are not there for redemption, they are like Angel in the beginning, seeking a place to live more than seeking redemption, to stay they offered their services as a technician and one more extra hand to the chores. The hotel is the first place they can actualy rest without worrying about stalkers and creepy fuckers, so it's slowly being home and it's residents their roommates

I imagine Alastor absolutely does know they work for Vox, since in their uniform they have the Voxtek logo, he probably was waiting to see if they were like sirpentius but more blunt and with a good poker face, they can stay as long as they don't try to film or put a camera were they shouldn't. He is also a gossip girl and loves listening to them complaining about they work and specifically teleports into the bar when the talk is about one of reader's bosses.

Overlord reader is sadistic yes, however they take on a more... emotional approach - my intention with sinner/regular reader is that they write to satisfy the more emotional weight hell probably lacks. See Valentino's porn that are 100% only porn and no plot. Their writting takes on a more emotional catarses approach - so overlord reader is a bit like Alastor, a conman, they toy with emotions and belive themselves above actualy feeling them(but we know were this can go ;) ), their sadism is in the form of the betrayal their victims feel when they get tricked into a contract after perhaps years of "friendship".

As an informant they are constantly up to date with the generation and it's hard to pin point what actual decade they died in, they can be charming, they job is practically be the persson with the most connections in hell afterall. And their story is, Funnily enough, a matter of luck, right time, right words, and right people, overlord reader is always present and takes to a variety of hobbies to conect with people, they have always something to talk about and to tell.

I imagine they wish they could just lock themselfs in their room and play games, but they are in too deep into their own web and now needs to maintain it to have a semblance of security. I'm still thinking who can swap with who for overlord reader's world so we got more of dynamics to work with. For now I only have like, overlord Husk and Angel, and the Vees I'm thing of "joining the hotel for redemption but not really they just are broke and need a place to hide but hey maybe they can finaly have a semblance of normality and grow as people there now?", maybe Charlie is the Alastor in here and Emily got the "hotel" idea? I'm still working on it and the show still have mysteries that I can't include (like who the fuck is behind Alastor's strings and Lilith's canon perssonality so i'm riding on headcanons for those)

Holiday Pictures 2023! (part 2)

A continuation of my holiday pictures for friends on Twitter!

This one is for Luna! I’ve drawn her Yoshi character quite a long time ago, but this was my first time drawing her porcupine self. I’ve admired her artwork for a long while, so hopefully my style does the character justice.

For AtroxChobatsu, it’s the ever-toony Sarah N. Dippity! I had drawn her a few times before, but this time I put her in a situation that shows more toony expressiveness. Seems she’s attempted to slow her fall, but that umbrella she’s using doesn’t appear to have held up…

This one is for the also-very-toony Dingoroo! I remember him from way back in my DeviantArt days. His art style was and still is very cute! I tried to make Dingoroo in my own style here. Not sure what he’s planning to do with that large mallet…

For LE-the-Creator, it’s their character Veggie Sprigwort. A very neat character design for a plant person! I was worried it would be hard to draw her well, but it ended up coming together a lot smoother than I thought. Maybe I’m becoming an artist after all…

For RakkuGuy, it’s his little kobold character Coal! She’s becoming an aspiring hero in a webcomic series, “Monsters Can Be Heroes Too!” This look mostly pulls from the more recent artwork I’ve seen, including a tattered yet stylish cape.

For CosmicCartoons, it’s the Ceryvian known as Demi. Here he seems to be struggling with a strange puzzle originating from Earth. This alien species wouldn’t be too out of place in the “Last Soldier” universe, though I don’t know how often they and the Teijru would interact.

This one is for – and featuring – Chaz Serir. If you ever wondered what possessed me to make various alien characters over the last few years, this is who inspired that. Now you may be asking, “What is going on here?” And my response is “That is correct.”

Oh hey, these are my characters! The two Tokarus, Sketch Tucker and Heather Britannia, are holding onto each other as they travel to other universes. Perhaps the characters we saw are some of the folks they met along the way. Who knows?

This ended up being quite the undertaking. I'm not confident that I'll ever make this many images for a holiday again. Either way, I hope everyone likes them, and that everyone have a Happy Holidays!

Here is Stephano, another character made by NS-Games. I experimented with the design a bit in this image – the eye area has white fur, and I gave him the Big Pant with a nifty pattern along the outer legs. I wonder what he’s drawing on that tablet…

He makes some things under the name of “Deyem Productions.” I ended up sketching a logo design concept for the “Deyem” name. It’s not the first time I looked into it, but I thought this was an intriguing avenue to explore…

When was the last time you cried? - Yesterday, over ongoing health issues with my dog. (She'll be fine, it's just taking a lot out of my mental health to deal with it all right now)

Do you use sarcasm? - Yes. My greatest hits include 'wow, weird, i wonder why that happened', 'that is brand new information', 'as you do' and 'seems normal'. I also have road sarcasm rather than road rage.

What’s the first thing you notice about people? - I find this hard to answer! Cause like if someone has a very striking physical feature then that'll likely be the first thing I notice, but if they're wearing a pin or a shirt of something I recognize it may well be that, or if they carry themselves a certain way and give off certain vibes I may not even notice other things about them.

"Chiefs get chopped" is a reference to the Kansas City Chiefs football team and their racist garbage fans. Native American activists have been asking them for years to change their team name to something less offensive to tribes (the Washington R*dsk*ns finally did the right thing in 2022 and changed their name and logo to the Commanders.) Chiefs fans are known for their "warpaint" (face paint), wearing "headdresses" and a gesture they call "the tomahawk chop" that they frequently do at games to the beat of a "war drum". Fuck them.

Thank you for the explanation of the phrase, I absolutely agree that these names rooted in racism should be changed.

North American Indigenous Games unveil 2023 medal designs

An eight-pointed star inspired by Mi’kmaq petroglyphs found in Bedford, N.S., will be featured on medals for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).

The games’ host society unveiled the medal designs at an event in Millbrook First Nation, N.S., Tuesday.

“It makes me feel really proud and excited to see my designs come to life,” said designer Ella Scothorn, who created the initial design in Grade 6, and is now in Grade 9, in a news release.

“I was inspired by the Mi’kmaq star and its significance within Indigenous culture.”

In its tenth year, the games will take place in Halifax, Dartmouth, N.S., and the Millbrook First Nation in July.

More than 5,250 athletes, coaches and officials from over 750 nations from across Turtle Island (North America) will compete in more than 16 sports. Millbrook First Nation will host the 3-D archery competition.

The medals also include a symbol that represents the word “L’nu,” the Mi'kmaq term for Indigenous people.

Curved designs, common in Mi’kmaq culture, represent the things that grow and transpire when you follow your dreams, while a ribbon features the NAIG 2023 logo and “Kjipuktuk,” meaning “Great Harbour.”

The NAIG Host Society says it is looking for 3,000 volunteers for the event. The group says volunteers will be screened and asked to commit to at least three shifts.

I, Robot

Disclaimer this review contains spoilers for I, Robot (2004).

“What does this action signify ;)”

Bio

I, Robot is a sci-fi thriller, released in 2004. Set in 2035 the story follows Del Spooner, a detective with a chip on his shoulder as he investigates the death of scientist and founder of USR, Alfred Lanning.

Acting

Will Smith (who plays Del Spooner) clearly gave this his all and it’s one of his better performances. It doesn’t matter if he’s delivering one liners (which there are plenty) or giving an emotional performance because Smith hits the right notes. Similar can be said for his co-star Alan Tudyk (who played Sonny). Unfortunately, Bridget Moynaha (who played Susan Calvin) performance fell a bit flat but does improve through the course of the film. While I didn’t have an issue with any of the other actors’ performances, I was disappointed with the lack of time spent with these characters. This became frustrating as I was curious to get to know these characters but the film never got further than outlining their relationship with the protagonist and demonstrating how Spooner was alone in his distrust of robots.   

Writing

For the most part I didn’t have an issue with the writing. The characters all had clear opinions and felt unique. Smith is given a lot of jokes to work with and I found these to be genuinely funny. That being said the writing wasn’t perfect. As mentioned above the side characters were severely underdeveloped and to a lesser extent so were the lead roles. An example is that Lanning (portrayed by James Cromwell) hints that his relationship with Spooner isn’t normal, yet we never find out why. We know he worked on Spooner’s prosthetic arm but it felt as if there was more history between them that wasn’t explored. There were also some inconsistencies such as Spooner being afraid of heights near the end of the movie, but leaning over the edge where Lanning had been killed at the beginning of the movie. The later scene would have been more consistent and tense if Spooner had displayed how uncomfortable he was in the beginning of the film when he was in Lanning’s office.

Story

At its heart I, Robot is a crime story in a futuristic setting and for the most part it’s done well. I liked that Sonny was originally portrayed as an antagonist. I thought it was convincing due to his introduction and the chase that followed. I also really enjoyed how the story was told, seeing Spooner investigate Lanning’s death never felt like a chore. This was of course due to how fast pace it was, which was at times to its detriment. Certain elements could have been explored more. But the positive was that the film never stagnated and remained engaging. The villain’s motive was nothing new or ground breaking. I personally liked that V.I.K.I’s goal wasn’t to end mankind, but was a misguided attempting to protect humanity as a collective. My biggest complaint in regards to the story was the lack of themes explored and the lost potential. For example, V.I.K.I (portrayed by Fiona Hogan) claimed that humanity was destructive and was set on its own extinction. Yet we see no evidence of this in the film, in fact the lack of world building is such a shame because the movie would have really benefited from it. We see many examples of how society trusts robots and I really do like how they’re implemented into the world. But we never go beyond that, leaving the world feeling two dimensional. The other issue I had was Lanning’s overall plan relying too much on chance. He essentially kills himself with the assistance of Sonny and expects Spooner to figure everything out. I also didn’t understand why he had to die as at the time of death the NS-5’s weren’t connected to V.I.K.I. Meaning there wasn’t much threat of being attacked. The film tries to suggest no one would believe him, but even if that was the case (which I don’t know why they wouldn’t as he’s a well-respected expert in that field) he could have just gone rogue and killed V.I.K.I himself, sure he’d be sued and lost lots of money but he’d be alive. The final issue I had with the story was the lack of consequence, by the end of the movie the only characters to have died (excluding Lanning) were the villain (V.I.K.I) and the antagonist who we had been lead to root against until the climax of the film.

Cinematography 

In regards to cinematography I, Robot takes inspiration from The Matrix. This is defiantly one of the films strengths. Seeing Smith wield a giant futuristic machine gun, tearing apart robots. While the camera moves around the interior of a sky scrapper, showing not just how outnumbered the hero is but also how easy it would be to fall was disorientating in the best kind of way. Fortunately, there are many moments like this that do a really good job at creating tension and setting the right mood. There are some truly epic action sequences that kept me on the edge of my seat. The director (Alex Proyas) proves he’s capable at pulling off more than action scenes. With flashbacks, tense chases and even a montage, all of which I’m happy to say still hold up.

Visuals

The visuals for I, Robot are a real mix, the NS-5’s and other robots have aged surprisingly well. Obviously if the movie was released today, I’d expect them to look better than they did, but fifteen years later I’m defiantly not complaining about their appearance and similar can be said about the vehicles. This being said, there is a very heavy reliance on CGI and it shows. Not only does some of the CGI not hold up (exterior of USR building) but the arguably over reliance meant that places that weren’t CGI looked out of place as these scenes didn’t match some of the other scenes and as a viewer this constant switch between CGI and none CGI became jarring. Costumes like the soldiers and S.W.A.T police also looked really cheap and un-tough, resembling something closer to a laser tag outfit.

Audio

Sound design was really good. Marco Beltrami has added so much emotional depth with his music, it doesn’t overstay its welcome and is one of the highlights of the film as it’s cleverly used to create tension. The guns and cars sound believable, with no real negatives to speak of. The audio was clear and impactful with certain moments being very satisfying to hear, such as Sonny using a wire to ping himself to save Calvin.

Misc

I had an issue with how Calvin was treated. When Spooner is first introduced to her, he laughs at her and doesn’t take her seriously. While you could interpret this as Spooner being arrogant and it being an area that we’ll see him grow away from, I wasn’t convinced. This is because near the end of the movie Farber (portrayed by Shia LaBeouf) openly sexualise Calvin in front of her and the only part that Spooner objects to is the use of the word “shit”. This to me comes off as the leading female role being objectified and really didn’t need to be included, it makes for uncomfortable viewing and took away from the experience.

While I, Robot is the name, product placement is the game. I personally didn’t mind this too much and found it humorous. However, the Audi logo sticking out from Spooner’s headrest just seems kind of uncomfortable, but that’s just my opinion.

Verdict

To conclude I rate this film 4/10. I, Robot is a very enjoyable film that’s funny, action packed and is well paced. I had a blast watching this and there really is a lot of fun to have with this film. However, I was really disappointed in the character development and lack of world building and as enjoyable as this movie is, it doesn’t take full advantage of its setting or explore the themes in a meaningful enough way. The reason I, Robot isn’t spoken about as much as other films from 2004 or earlier isn’t because the visuals don’t 100% hold up, it’s because it doesn’t make you think. Sci-fi is a genre where you can explore the impossible, get lost in complex socio-political structures that as alien as they are reflect our own reality. And go beyond the questions of what a soul is. But unfortunately, I, Robot doesn’t do that, instead the film plays it safe with underdeveloped character in a 2D world. The movie has other issues too like some mild sexism (compared to other movies), plot holes, some pretty awful costume designs and CGI, an in-consequential ending and some minor issues like the occasional bit of inconsistent dialog or some bad acting. 

Recommendation 

Would I recommend this film? That depends what you’re interested in. If you want a fast pace action movie in a sci-fi setting, then yeah you won’t be disappointed. But if you yearn for a film that makes you question if humanity is going too far creating artificial intelligent and whether or not robots/AI should be entitled to the same rights humans are or other similar question. Then I’m afraid no, I cannot recommend this.

Summer camp kids (2) - Nolan Patrick

A/N: so heres part 2, though there’s gonna be at least one more (maybe 2)

Y/N waited for Nolan at the coffeeshop after she’d texted him in the morning for a meet-up, meaning a date without the word date. As he walked through the doors she was ready to leave with both his and her own coffee.

“You bought me coffee?” he asked, trying to ignore the feeling he got when their hands touched as he took the drink from her.

“I told you, I’m buying on date two” she quickly walked out the door ahead of him so he wouldn’t see the blush on her cheeks. They slowly walked towards the park as they chatted about their days before sitting down by a water fountain. It took about five minutes before Y/N realized she was sitting on what was probably a mix between bird spill and ketchup. She gasped loudly as she jumped to her feet, cursing herself for wearing white jeans. “This always happens!” she exclaimed, clearly annoyed.

“Why do you keep wearing white clothes when you know you’ll get it dirty?”

“Why do you keep wearing white clothes when you know you’ll get it dirty?” the boy asked the girl as she looked unhappily at the big grass stain on her white shirt. She tried her best to brush the green away but it didn't work. “Those don't come off, you know”

The girl sat down by a tree as she gave up on the piece of clothing which her mom hadn't wanted her to bring to camp. She’d been right when she’s said the girl would just get dirt on it right away. She’s usually right.

“Because I like white clothes. Thats why”

“Becayse I like white clothes. Thats why” Y/N mumbled quietly once the memory stopped playing in her head. She had the weirdest sense of deja vu, which only became weirder when she looked up at Nolan. He looked deep in thought but quickly snapped out of it.

“Can I show you something?” he asked carefully. “Yeah, sure”

The boy seemed nervous as he guided her out of the park. They walked towards a big arena with a huge logo of the Philadelphia Flyers on it.

“Do you know the flyers?” the boy asked unsurely. “The hockey team? Like I don't really watch but I know they’re Philly’s NHL team” she looked at him weirdly as he was acting quite strange. “Nolan are you okay?”

Nolan laughed quietly and looked at the ground as they got closer to the arena. “You know how I said I play hockey?” Y/N nodded. “Well I didn't tell you where I play or on what team” he continued as the girl was starting to take the hint.

“You’re on the flyers?” she asked, quite impressed. He nodded and glanced at her. She was smiling sweetly as she continued. “That’s so cool, Nolan! Why didn't you tell me?”

“I don't know, actually. It just didn't seem important at the time” he shrugged and looked at the ground again. “Well it isn't that important but its really cool! Im definitely gonna become a flyers fan now” Y/N exclaimed as they entered the building, it was quite empty as there wasn't a game. Nolan brought her to the stands, the both of them looking at the empty arena and the fresh, new ice, waiting to be skated on.

“When I was younger I often stayed after practice when everyone had left. i’d shoot some pucks and practice a bit on my own, but it was mostly because I loved being alone by the rink. its so quiet and peaceful. thats when I can really think, and just process things in my head.” Nolan told the girl. he was staring at the ice the whole time, looking deep in thought once again. “nowadays at practice there’s usually a lot of people around,  I mean this isn't the little league anymore. I never really get that alone time, so I come here sometimes on off-days and just sit here” he finally looked at Y/N, who’d kept her eyes on his face the entire time.

for a few seconds they didn't say anything, they didn't have to. it was a comfortable silence. “I think it’s peaceful too” the girl eventually said. “its kinda cold, but peaceful. and there’s somehow something quite nostalgic about it. you can tell a lot of things have happened in here, people have had all kinds of emotions. so it’s a bit weird when it’s this quiet and empty, but also really nice somehow”. when Y/N looked up at the boy again, he was smiling widely.

“I want to kiss you” he stated, catching her by surprise. Y/N smiled widely as she brought her hands to his cheeks and leaned in. The boy put his hands on her waist and pulled her closer as their lips met. Fireworks went off all around as the deja vu feeling came back for the both of them. When they broke the kiss neither one moved away or opened their eyes. Their foreheads were leaning towards one anothers as smiles grew on their faces.

“That was something” the boy said after a while. Y/N laughed and pulled away, now taking a look at the boy in front of her. He too opened his eyes and stared into hers. A blush was spread across his cheeks. The girl noticed something that made the deja vu once again resurface. in the middle of the left cheek was a white heart, surrounded by the red.

“Im going to marry him, mom!” Y/Ns mother smiled at her daughter as she was telling her mother all about the past 8 weeks. “You’re really going to like him, I promise! I told him about you and he said he wanted to meet you!” the girl continued. The first thing she’d told her mom about when they’d reunited was her fiancée, the boy she’d shared these last weeks with. Her mother hadn’t laughed at the nine-year-old, she’d only found it profoundly adorable. Obviously happy about her daughters new friend, she’d asked about her future son-in-law and listened to the little girl as Y/N was telling stories.

“Oh and guess what? When he blushes theres a heart on his cheek. The skin there doesn't turn red like the skin around it and its in the shape of a heart”

“Whats wrong?” Nolan asked, puzzled by the look on Y/Ns face. ‘Is it him? Is it really him?’ she thought to herself.

“Oh.. no, its nothing. Sorry” she smiled, although Nolan could tell she was still deep in thought. “I like your blush”

Nolans cheeks turned even redder, letting out a laugh as well. “What?”

“its cute. I mean most people don't really look good while blushing, it looks like they're working out, you know. But it really fits you, like you actually pull it off.” Nolan shook his head a bit before putting one of his arms around his shoulder, guiding her to the restaurant-area.

“Also there’s a patch on your cheek that doesn't get red, and its in the shape of a heart” she continued, content with the effects she’d had on him as his cheeks were still bright red. She wondered if he recognized her in any way, if there was a possibility that the buy who had his arm around her once proposed to her ten years ago.
