“jake, we have to go,” you said with a smile as you attempted to push away from his loving grip on you.

“mm-mm,” he mumbled once he pressed his lips against yours once more, shaking his head slightly to indicate he wasn’t done with you yet.

he pulled you closer this time, his hands on your hips, your legs still straddling his lap.

“jake, seriously,” you giggled.

“not yet.”

this continuous pushing and pulling didn’t stop for the next few minutes, with you inevitably giving in every couple attempts; it was impossible not to when your boyfriend's flawlessly soft lips constantly found yours, hands guiding your head and body to move against his in perfect harmony.

but snapping back to reality, you continued kissing him, waiting for the right opportunity to push away. and so once he pulled back just slightly to adjust the position of his lips on yours, you used that time to fully separate from your boyfriend.

“okay, that’s enough, jake! we have to go!” you chuckled.

but before you could even fully escape his touch, his grasp was right back on you, pulling you back into his lap and eliciting a squeal from you.

“the reservations can wait,” he whispered into your ear, sending a rush of shivers through your body from head to toe. “it’s still early anyways. just a few minutes more.”

and somehow, with his words, followed by a smirk that had you melting on the spot, it was enough for you to give into your temptations and dive right back into kissing him again, lips moving right back in perfect sync against one another.

let’s just say, by the time you thought those few extra minutes were up, you two had gone just a little bit overtime and consequently lost your reservations—but in the words of jake, that just gave you two more time for… other things!

“Open!” you shouted from your kitchen at the sound of the chaotic knocks left on your front door.

Soon they opened wide, revealing your best friend, Riki. Well, the term “best friend” doesn’t exactly express how you truly felt when it came to him. At first, you viewed him as an annoying brother, yet it all changed when both of you grew up. You realized how he changed and matured in many ways, while still being cheerful and playful with his friends. Trying to deny your feelings for as long as you could you finally gathered your courage to confess only for him to make his dreams of becoming an idol come true. It was hard, trying to be happy for him and suppressing your feeling for the sake of his career and your friendship.

“Ready to get your ass beaten, Y/nah?” Riki asked teasingly while going next to you to pour himself a soda.

“You wish,” you teased back and made him help you prepare the snacks for your weekly game night.

Back in the day, you used to hang out almost every day, but now it had to be limited to once a week, sometimes even once a month. He always tried to not let you see how drained he truly was, but knowing him this long you knew how hard he worked.

Both of you sat down on your couch and started playing. As always your living room filled up with giggles, screams of victories, and groans of losses.

Soon your eyelids started to feel heavy and you noticed how your head started falling. When it happened for a nth time you heard a small giggle to your left. You sent a death glare in Riki’s direction only for him to laugh louder at your attempt to intimidate him. You smiled seeing how his eyes turned into small crescents and cheeks lifted in a wide smile.

You continued to play but your tiredness grew with every round you played. Not realizing it, your head landed straight on his shoulder. As soon as you felt the fabric of his T-shirt you raised your head swiftly.

“I’m so sorry!” you exclaimed nervously, hoping your blush wouldn’t be too visible in the dimmed light of one single lamp.

“It’s okay, Y/nie,” he spoke softly, this time a gentle smile creeping to his lips.

You felt how your cheeks burned, not sure if the cause of that state was your skin-to-skin contact or the way he called you.

But to your dismay, any attempts of suppressing annoying yawns and overflowing fatigue were pointless. Your head once again landed on his shoulder. For a while, he thought you were going to wake up soon, but it ended up with him disconnecting your controller and finishing the round alone. Once he won he almost screamed out of joy but stopped at the last second not wanting to wake you up. He looked down at your peaceful state, noticing a cute pout that formed on your lips. He smiled to himself and carefully tucked a lone strand of your hair behind your ear.

How he wished he could see you like this more. He held back the urge to lock you safely in his arms and leave a sweet kiss on your forehead.

“Do I have anything to lose?” he asked himself and did what he just tried to contain within his mind only.

His hands slowly moved your body so that now you lay in between his legs, head now placed on his chest. He prayed you couldn’t feel how his heart was racing, yet he mustered up the courage to leave a shy peck on the crown of your head.

“Sweet dreams, Y/nie.”

author's note : it's my first time writing angst and this was kinda fun ^^ also, nicho's ex is named mika.

m a s t e r l i s t

you heard the door to your house slamming as it was closed shut by your boyfriend, nicholas. he had been coming home exhausted for the past few weeks because of workload, you couldn't even remember the last time you had had a proper conversation with him. on any other day, you'd do your best to stay calm around him since he often acted irritable on such days, but today was different. you had received a text from one of nicholas' colleagues a few hours ago. you normally wouldn't believe any of the rumours you heard about nicholas, but this one came with proof. a photo of nicholas chatting with his ex with a big smile on his face.

nicholas kicked off his shoes and plopped down beside you on the couch without acknowledging your presence, and switched on the TV. your arms were crossed tightly, waiting for nicholas to confess that he had been hanging out with his ex, or at least met his ex. but no, he continued staring at the TV pretending you weren't sitting right beside him.

"how was your day?" you asked after a while. nicholas immediately noticed your cold tone and looked at you.

"what's wrong?" he asked.

"nothing's wrong, nicho. I just want to know about your day. how was work?" you asked, trying to sound calm.

"it was good", he replied, still sounding suspicious and looked back at the TV.

"great! I bet you had the time of your life working with mika", you said sarcastically.

nicholas just let out a sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose. he wasn't in the mood to argue with you after an exhausting day like this one, but you were testing his patience. however, he tried his best to stay calm, ignoring all the angry huffs and complaints coming from your side and just stared at the TV.

"are you even listening to me, nicholas?" you said loud enough so he couldn't ignore you anymore. he looked towards you, "yn, i'm not in the mood for this right now", failing to sound calm.

"yeah, you never are. you've been coming home from work all grumpy for almost a week now, you don't talk to me properly, but you have the time to chat with your ex with a wide smile on your face", you replied with a burning feeling in your chest, tears threatening to drop from your eyes any moment now.

"for fuck's sake, yn, I was working! and we only talked for five minutes. it's no big deal. stop being so paranoid all the fucking time. it's annoying", nicholas snapped, failing to maintain his composure.

the tears couldn't be stopped anymore, a few whimpers left your mouth and looked away, feeling too embarrassed to even look at your boyfriend.

"oh, so you're going to cry now? well, cry me a river, I don't care. because it's none of your business what I do or who I talk to at work.", his voice was harsh and he sounded very furious, resulting in more tears falling from your eyes.

your vision was blurry, you had no idea how you managed to form proper words because you were shaking. from anger and despair.

"all I'm trying to say is that the least you could've done is inform me that you met up with your ex, instead of having me hear it from someone else.", your lips trembled as you tried to hold back tears, but it was of no use, they kept falling.

it broke nicholas' heart to see you like this and he honestly wanted to wipe your tears and hold you close. but his anger got the best of him as he snapped at you, "you're so pathetic, yn! I'm not obligated to tell you every single detail of my life. stop acting like a child, you're not making any sense right now."

"okay I'm the pathetic one. seriously nicholas you've been coming home like this for the past week. I can't tolerate it anymore", you said as you stood up and looked at him, feeling devastated.

nicholas got on his feet too. his tall figure looked so intimidating that you moved a few steps back.

"if only I knew that you would be like this after I come home, I would've just stayed out", his voice sounding dangerously close to tears too.

"oh really? so you think that if it was mika instead of me she would've been all sweet and nice to you after you come home all hostile for a whole fucking week?"

"I don't expect you to be all sweet and nice to me, but I don't want you to jump down my throat as soon as I come home either", he yelled, tears falling from his eyes.

"nicho can you even hear yourself right now? I have the right to be angry. I'm your girlfriend and I'm worried that you're just going to dump me. where the hell did I go wrong? I've always tried my best to be good to you and all I get in return is you dallying with other women at work", you yelled back.

"enough, yn. I thought you trusted me more than that", his voice was breaking and he was shaking as tears kept welling up in his eyes as well.

"yes nicho, I trusted you. but you're failing to keep my trust. can't you fucking see how much I trusted you and how much effort I've been putting into our relationship? but what am I getting from your side? nothing, nicholas. imagine if I hung out with my ex without telling you. no", you shook your head, "imagine if I hung out with my ex after telling you about it. you wouldn't ever want to see my fucking face", you said, shaking in rage.

"alright. i get it. break up with me then", he said, his voice was dangerously quiet as he kept biting the inside of his cheek.

"oh yes. you probably can't wait to break up with me so you thought you'd suggest it a bit quicker so that you can finally go and tinker with whoever you like. am I right?", you said not even trying to hide your scornful tone.

nicholas sniffled and said, " I can't do this anymore, yn. not with you."

and you just stood there, unable to move as you watched the man you had loved for almost two years walk out of your apartment and slam the door behind him, while tears streamed down your cheeks.

it’s the middle of the night, and you are clinging to seungcheol like a lifeline.

there’s no particular reason. you can’t sleep, he’s not even trying to sleep, and he’s comfortable. so you wrap your arms around him like a koala, amused when he doesn’t even flinch, just lifts his arms a little to give you space, and continues scrolling.

“i’m going to suffocate you if i stay like this,” you say suddenly — slightly muffled with your cheek squished against the pillow.

seungcheol lowers his phone to glance at you, brown eyes soft in the dim lamplight of your room. “it’d be an honour to be suffocated by you,” he says, so solemnly you burst out laughing.

“cheol!”

“what?” he says defensively. “i’m serious! put that shit on my gravestone.”

“you are so — ”

“handsome?” he offers. “charming? perfect?” and he places an exaggeratedly grateful hand over his chest; “babe.”

“annoying,” you finish, with a sigh that doesn’t disguise your smile. being completely and irrevocably in love has made you soft. maddeningly so.

“and yet you’re still dating me,” seungcheol counters with a bright grin and a kiss on your cheek. “so i win.”

“cheesy. so cheesy.” but you don’t detangle your limbs from his; you push yourself impossibly closer, nosing into his neck, leg over his thighs. and he doesn’t move away — he just smiles, brushes you with a feathery kiss.

it’s easy. familiar. it happens all the time, hugging your boyfriend. but it’s insistent in its own mundanity — you think you can stay with him forever and then some. and if you said it out loud, you know he’d echo the sentiment right back to you.

the beauty of it is more settled in the fact that you don’t have to say it out loud. both of you know. instead, you’ll complain about his cheesy lines and he’ll complain about your cold nose against his skin, and you’ll love each other always. enduring, withstanding, everlasting.

THE PARENT TRAP — LHS | CHAPTER 3

synopsis: jungwon and ni-ki met each other at a summer camp and found out they were fraternal twins. this leads to events where the two ex-lovers, heeseung and yn, are reunited after 14 years by their children.

Jungwon walked through the dinner hall and spotted Jake waving his hand as he signaled him to go to their table. He slowly walked through the crowd and sat down beside Ni-ki, who was eating peacefully. Jake started asking him questions about his life, which made their atmosphere much more relaxed than before, and soon it was time to go to sleep. They quickly went out and got to their respective rooms. Ni-ki then has the idea to prank Jungwon by drawing on his face just before he wakes up.

Morning approached, and Ni-ki walked to Jungwon's room and started to draw a mustache and cat ears as he was sleeping, not knowing this would definitely end badly, but thinking there was nothing wrong with having a little fun. Soon enough, Jungwon had woken up and got up to wash his face when he saw there were drawings on his face, and he could only think of one culprit, and that was Ni-ki. He angrily went to Ni-ki's room and banged on his door to open it. As he opened the door, he punched him directly in the face. This resulted in a minor nose bleed from Ni-ki. The camp counselor happened to be roaming around their rooms when he saw the two boys punching each other, and he had to break the two of them away before any further injuries could be sustained. "Park Jungwon and Lee Ni-ki, pack up your bags right now," the counselor loudly said to the two boys as they begrudgingly went to their rooms to pack their bags.

"The two of you will be sharing the same room and reflecting on this. Your parents will be informed about this incident. No more fighting," he said as he closed the door. "This is your fault. If you didn't draw on my face, then I wouldn't have to punch you," Jungwon said as he looked at Ni-ki. "Well, you didn't have to punch me over a simple prank. Learn to have fun," he replied. Unknowingly, this is the start of their unique friendship.
