I was Queen Anne's inaugural insights speaker!
I have just sailed on Queen Anne's maiden voyage as one of the first ever people to present on board the ship. As part of the Cunard Insights programme, I was a guest speaker on board the ship attracting big crowds at my four talks about Cunard's history in the Royal Court Theatre.

Thanks for tagging me @teejaystumbles ! A really nice surprise!! :D I am indeed contemplating writing two Dead Boy Detectives fic right now, but they're both in the very early 'being-outlined-in-my-head' stage, haha. They both revolve around post-s1 Edwin pining for Charles, one where Edwin takes matters into his own hands and one where he decides to have a chat with the Cat King about it. Not sure if they'll ever be written but they're intriguing!
But for the sake of the tag game, here's a lengthy bit from a Dreamling wip I've slowly been chipping away at for a few months!
A scene from Every Little Thing (Working Title)— In which Morpheus is a figure drawing professor who has just been fired from a film production based on his comics, and Hob does part-time figure modeling and is determined befriend the aforementioned professor.
Morpheus picks his class schedules wisely— he runs two first year general figure drawing classes, at 8 a.m. and at noon on Mondays and Thursdays. He helps the uni’s live figure workshop club on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m., and meets his sister for lunch on Wednesdays. All other free time was dedicated for his industry work. That wouldn’t be a concern anymore, would it. By the time Morpheus unlocks the door to the studio, sets his bag down by his desk, and starts fiddling with the ceiling studio lights pointed at the model stand, all of Morpheus’ thoughts have reduced to pure spite. Fine, maybe the big studios don’t want him. They don’t deserve him, then, their loss. His portfolio and repertoire are infamous in the industry, they’ll be crawling back to him in no time. Too bad, maybe he would have started his own production studio and he’ll end up with the next ground-breaking animated film. Maybe— Morpheus’ thoughts are interrupted by a knock at the door. He shakes himself out of it, calling, “Come in.” A glance at his watch tells him it’s only 7:48, perhaps it’s an overeager student here early. It’s only the second week of the semester, they grab every opportunity to prove themselves with a spirited step that Morpheus might be slightly envious of. “Hello, Morpheus Endeles?” Hearing his full name startles Morpheus, and he turns from the lighting settings to the door. “Yes?” The man who steps into view can only be described as radiant. He can’t be much older than Morpheus, not much taller either but wider in the shoulders. His hair is cropped just above his shoulders and he sports a neatly kept beard. Morpheus registers this all first simply because of his profession but— he gets caught on the man’s brilliant smile and deep brown eyes. There’s something there that knocks all thoughts clear out of Morpheus’ head. The stranger smiles warmly, smiles like he already cares. “I’m here to model for the morning and noon figure classes?” The man says. Morpheus clears his throat and steps forward, “Yes, this is the right studio.” He extends a hand, “Robert Gadling, I presume?” The man takes his hand— god, he’s so warm— and shakes it steadily, “Please, call me Hob! All my friends do.”
I'm a sucker for the 'Morpheus catalogues Hob's appearance during their first meeting' trope in most Dreamling human AU fics, I couldn't not do it too :]
Besides this, I've also got a Dreamling Velvet Goldmine-ish AU fic that I want to get done this summer. I'm a very slow and ruminative writer so let's see if I can commit to any of these fics now that I've posted about them lol!

Shooting Star Accident Part 1 (Polarity AU, 657 words, self-insert reader) You ask Polar Moon about a thing you heard and you share a small moment of comfort. No CWs this time around! It's all quite chill and soft.
You approach the rescue bot with a slight smile, but you can't hide the curiosity that is hidden under it. There has been this thing that has been bothering you. You've heard other workers talk about it. An event? Or maybe something else. You aren't sure what it is. It almost feels like a code name of sorts people used to hide the true nature of what it meant.
"Something on your mind, little star?" Polar's eyes are fixed on you, but his gaze isn't intense. It's gentle, like a soft, warm blanket you want to be under. His head is tilted to the side, and it makes the tall figure look almost adorable. In your opinion, anyway. Not that you'd feel comfortable saying it out loud.
"Yeah, actually." You admit, and rub the back of your neck. There is no subtle way to ask about it. You have to be direct. It's probably nothing important, but your curiosity is getting the better of you, and you take a breath before speaking out once more. Your eyes glance briefly at his.
"What is the shooting star?" You ask, your look shifting down. "You know. The thing people keep mentioning every now and then? They never told me, so I thought maybe you'd know." You glance back up and hold your gaze as you notice Polar's expression shift. It's a slight change, but one that is still noticeable. He's frozen in place as if lost in his thoughts. There, but oh so distant. That phrase clearly meant something to him, but you weren't sure whether the memories attached to it were good or bad.
"Kuu?" You call out his name, and that seems to be enough to snap him away from his thoughts. A small smile forms on his faceplate, but it feels off. You can tell he's not happy.
"We don't speak about the shooting star accident." Kuu finally says and places his hand on top of your head. He moves it in a gentle, soothing motion. But instead of soothing himself, he's soothing you. You wonder why, but you have a lingering suspicion that it might be because he doesn't know what else to do. From what you've seen, he's the kind who finds it easier to help others. Even when he's unwell himself. That's definitely one way to distract yourself. You're quite familiar with it yourself, in fact.
"Oh. I'm sorry." You mumble, smiling up at him. "I won't ask about it again if it's an uncomfortable topic for you." You feel a bit of guilt tugging at you for prying into things that weren't your business, and Polar's response wakes a feeling of concern. Not to mention, he called it an accident. Something happened. Something that even Kuu wouldn't talk about. Still, you want to keep your word and decide not to push the topic further, no matter how curious you are. He could talk about it when he was ready. Today wasn't the day, and that was okay.
You extend your arms and lean in to hug him. A wordless gesture of comfort. There isn't much you can do if Polar doesn't want to talk, but you want to do at least something small to show you care. It seems to make Kuu stop briefly before he slowly brings his own hands around your waist.
"Thank you." Quiet words leave Polar in a whisper, almost as if it's not something he wants to say aloud. Or maybe he's just not used to it. You aren't sure how he's feeling, but you can imagine it's not easy for him either way. The silent moment of comfort lasts for a bit before you lean back, and the both of you continue your tasks as if nothing happened.
When you turn to catch a glimpse at him, you can notice a hint of a genuine smile on his faceplate. It makes your chest feel warm.
